I went into this not knowing much about it and not hoping for a whole lot either. That being said I was basically expecting something like a slightly simplified 2070 with a large moon presence.
I'm something like 36 hours in, about 180k population, and just hit 150k population in temperate. I have all 3 stages of the LLP done and I have to say I'm rather disappointed with how the moon side was handled.
The basic strategy right now is you spam your temperate civilization then send a manned expedition to the north pole to gather resources for your space launch. This expedition is basically the middle of the road masochists, they enjoy the pain of having limbs frozen off in the subzero polar cold.
Then, once enough garden variety masochists lose enough limbs to polar freezing, you get the hardcore masochists (likely the children of the polar masochists) who don't settle for just freezing but only find true joy in getting irradiated too!
So now you have two types of masochists and all the fancy space tech you need to send them to their gleeful deaths all to satiate your temperate climate dwelling overload sadists who only care about getting that sweet, sweet, lunar helium-3 fusion power!
All humor aside (lol), does anyone else feel like the lunar and polar guys are basically just slaves, whose sole purpose is to work the high-output power plants and make space travel possible respectively? I was expecting the polar guys to be throwaways, but I was truly hoping for a 3 or 4 tier lunar evolution like we get for temperate populations. Was I the only one hoping for lunar space-scrapers or was the lunar side rather shallow for others too?

i agree the moon colony part was rather... weak.. i had hoped for more challenging stuff but meh should known better...
Since there are people who give me crap for my grammar and is to lazy to check my profile I will say it here as well. I am dyslexic so give me a break as I *TRY* to spell correctly.

It wasn't like they had a lot of info published about it before hand from what I've seen, and the little that was released was rather vague.
Perhaps that's normal for the franchise though, keeping the advertising to a minimum. I wouldn't know though since 2070 was the first Anno game I owned and I bought it well after release.
Maybe someone will make a mod to bring the lunar settlements up to par.

Very disappointed. But also very relieved. Tomorrow, Fallout 4 launches, and now I'm saved the conflict of - do I play Anno 2205 or do I play Fallout 4. My mind is made up.
I have 334 hours in Anno 2070, and only after 42 hours of Anno 2205, I felt like I've done as much as I want to do. Even with mods, I'm not sure that this game is going to be as enjoyable as its predecessor. While I could write a long list of the things I don't like about the game, I've got to admit that it's visually one of the most stunning games I've seen to date - but good looks does not make a good game.

I have, maybe, 200 hours in 2070 but actually find 2205 more enjoyable. Mainly because of the production chain revamps. Most of my time in 2070 was spent managing and looking at production chain maps instead of actual city building but I get where you're coming from.

After Anno 2070 i was looking forward to a new perspective on the game. The only redeeming factor of this game is the graphics... I completed the main campaign in a little over 12 hours. reached a pop of 340k in temperate and 135k on the moon. at first i was kinda impressed on how simple it was to get started but after a while it got old fast. I've been playing Anno 2205 for almost a week now out of sheer boredom and I'm ready for a new city builder. oh well, time to go back to Cities: Skyline. At least the replay-ability of Cities is exceptional. I did notice as well while using the trainer, the trainer accesses a memory module that sinks the in game memory, so after about 2 hrs of game play, the game slows down quite a lot, making playing it almost impossible. having a high end gaming system designed to run fallout 4, Just cause 3 and far cry 4 at max resolution, I was a little miffed by the games inability to handle even the simplest of memory sinks. Pretty graphics, but alas... mediocre game.
