Alright, another update:
I tried running the race with the "Freeze timer" option on (turned it on right after race start), and that worked the entire event! Froze the time at 00:00.26, (even if I turned the option on later in the race than that.) and it did the same with the quarters, the semi's and the big finale. Won all three times, even though I lost all three "for real" (I tried winning for real too, same result). So there's at least something positive
As for the "Always win" option, this time I tried;
After winning the event with freeze timer on, I turned it off (hearing "Deactivated", started the event again, and turned always win on. I lost "for real" and the game registered a loss with my actual time, throwing me back to the career menu. (This time with a 5TH position though(!?)) Haven't tried winning for real and then turn the option on, or winning for real with the option on yet though. I can do that too, not just tonight ^^ gotta get some sleep
Btw, I have absolutely no idea where the savegame files are on the computer, I've looked thoroughly through C:\Users\[USERID], My Documents, The DiRT folder etc. etc. just found some replays and stuff, but nothing else of interest. Tell me if you know where they are and I'll get them over to you
Cheers, /Chris

no need for the savegame files at this point but thanks for looking. btw they are located at (for XP):
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Codemasters\DiRT\savegame
in the
Autosave0
folder. you could .rar the whole folder and send it if you desire but i think at this point we have determined:
1) the crossover events are different events from the rest of the races. it is based solely on TIME. so therefore we don't need the PLACE trainer option activated because it moves the placement of the racers around (basically it is swapping the first place winner with YOU but since it bases this on the CURRENT race, then in essence it is swapping the first place winner of previous races with YOU for the current race. however, it gets screwy as you go further into the semi's and finals.)
2)so, for crossover events you should DEACTIVATE the place option (option 1) and ACTIVATE the timer option (option 2) in the trainer. In reality you likely only need the place option activated for those races that are based not on just time, but on your position going over the finish line.
we will update our read-me but there doesn't seem to be a need to update the trainer. it works as advertised, we just need to make sure that you use the options that are needed for the type of race you are in!
thanks again for all of your help on this! you deserve some rest.
btw you might send us the savefile when you have completed the whole race and unlocked all the cars and racetracks. the site members would likely appreciate that.
best, Cal

Alright, it looked a little different in Vista, but I got it ^^ Agree with you on the trainer point, as it moves around as the race go by, and I suspect the three parts of the one single event can cause some problems for trainer<->game coding (with the "Always place first" option anyways), I'm more of a regular amateur programmer so I have no idea ^^
As for the savefile; of course I'll do that, but I expect someone else will beat me to it I don't play enough to be as quick as some ^^ or some other people, who edit the files instead :]
Heh, it was neat to help out a bit, give some back for all the trainers I've used just tell me if you need another trainer tested, I've got the games to test them on
Cheers, /Chris (damn tired at 3.30am )

Love the trainer as was getting so far and then placing 8th constantly on most events (dont wanna drop down a level to complete) However the Force 1st place does not work on any of the events for me at all, wherever I place is where I am shown on the stats pages
All other options work fine, money, timer, damage. I have tried in all events in Tier 4 any ideas? FYI i am running on vista and have tried with and without run as admin with the same results
