I have the Aurora Steam deck tool and regardless of which instructions I folow, I'm stuck with the error on login 'server unavailable, have to run in compatibility with proton v8. '

I've tried every proton, have the 9.0 beta installed and manually set the proton compatibility for individual games in the game settings to proton ge -8.01 all the way up to 8.32 but still nothing

    Same server unavailable error
I'm running on the stable steam deck updates
And each game that I've tried, like World war z, was working perfectly fine 2 days ago.

It's been a few weeks now and still no help. What option do I have available to me for help on this matter? Discord help is useless, they don't cover steam deck and are unable to help me and I haven't received any help on this board either.

I've tried running games in windowed, borderless, proton v8 and all the various other fixes but I'm still getting the same error, 'Server unavailable.' What is the solution to getting this done?

Why hasn't there been a video guide posted that explains the process to uninstall/reinstall using the steam deck tool with the proper options so people won't have problems anymore?

The previous video guides are outdated and need to be updated.

can I please get some kind of answer to the issue I'm havin? I've tried uninstall all previous versions of Proton and steam tinker, reinstalled Aurora multiple times following all the instructions and still getting the proton v8 error. What am I missing?

Something is apparently blocking your connection to the Aurora server. Could be your router, some other software on your SD, your ISP, you name it. There is no "THIS IS IT" answer to your question. You will have to troubleshoot it yourself.

It seems to be prevalent despite me using different Internet connections.

Are there any documented things that would prevent it?

Would you suggest a complete format of the Steam deck and start from scratch?

Possibly. When you launch Aurora, when it's in the taskbar, you can right click and have it Test Connection and spit out some results. See what that says. Maybe you don't have TLS 1.3 enabled (and earlier versions disabled).... maybe IPv6 is enabled and interfering. Difficult to say when it works fine for everyone else's SD.

Is there any updated guide to installation and settings or are the previous videos that are posted in this discussion board still the only ones up for following?

We have an installation video for the Steamdeck and nothing has changed in the installation process. "server unavailable" is a message you get when the tool/Aurora fails to contact our web server. It has nothing to do with steamdeck tool installation.

If I understand you correctly this occurs on the steamdeck TOOL, not Aurora. The tool is a native linux application so Proton version shouldn't matter.

    Possibly reasons:
    - DNS resolver
    - Any other steamdeck modification includes installation of other tools
    - Firewall / router

If you can use Aurora on the SAME network on a windows machine. Its likely something on the Steamdeck itself. In which case I'd recommend a factory reset.

Yeah, it works perfectly fine in my PC and laptop,

Guess a factory reset is in order.

    Thank you for the information
