Ordinarily, 5 games in 5 years is a gradual slide into mediocrity for any series. Not Hawk. The now well-known duo of Activision and Neversoft have made sure of that by adding and improving in every way possible for each new game that came along in the series. THUG is no exception, but this time around it's a whole different story, literally... As you might know, I've also written a FAQ for THPS 4, and I'd like to start by thanking everyone who emailed me with questions or comments about the FAQ and the game. You guys are why I'm writing this. My interest in writing never waned, but my spare time has been on the decline since starting high school. But, a FAQ needs to be made, and I feel more than confident that I can help you through any goal in the game. Shredding the local playground and tearing up a few half pipes on your roughed up board are the only things on your mind, until a visit from Chad Muska, that is. He suggests you get sponsored by the local skateshop, and so begins your journey to skateboarding's higghest ranks, along with your good friend Eric. You'll meet other pros along the way, win a few competitions, and even get a custom board. From the underground to the top, the game is YOURS. The Characters: YOU : You can be whoever you want to be. Boy, girl, tall, short, mohawk or bald, the choice is yours. If you have a Network Adapter and a digital camera you can even get your face scanned into the game and mapped onto your character to complete the personalized expierience. Your goal is to go from underground skate punk to pro, and you'll need to be good to pass the many tests and obstacles along the way. Think you can handle it? ERIC : Eric Sparrow is your best friend. He lives in your neighborhood and tags along as you make your run for the top. He has the talent to make it, but he'll constantly end up in your shadow as your skills top his repeatedly. You'll start to question his shady tactics and his friendship throughout the story, and only a final showdown in your hometown will settle things with him. MR. PERALTA : Owner of the local skateshop and yogo enthusiast, he'll become your first official sponsor. He's always there when you need him, and during your lowest low he's there with ideas and suggestions. The Controls: Ollie ........................ X This is the basis for all skateboarding tricks. You'll constantly have your thumb on the X button durind combos because it is the building block of everything you do in the game No comply .................... up + X A way to ollie higher Boneless/Fastplant/Beanplant . up, up + X An even higher way to ollie Wallplant .................... down + X (when skating at 90 degree angle toward wall) This is helpful when you're skating or manualing straight at a wall and you don't have room/time to turn around. Great for combos in cramped areas. Skitch ....................... up (when behind a vehicle) Introduced in THPS4, it's only practical purpose is getting a lot of air for big spins. You can skitch and moving vehicle in the game. Manual ....................... up, down or down, up Introduced in THPS2, this is without a doubt the best trick in the game when you're looking for big combos. Without it, combos would very rarely be higher than a few hundred thousand. Use it wisely, and you'll score in the several millions. Revert ....................... R2 or L2 (when coming down on a vert ramp) This trick was hyped a lot when THPS3 came out because it gives you the ability to link vert tricks with your street tricks in a combo. It's useful, but most of the biggest combos involve far more street than vert, so it's not as important as the manual. Still nice to have, though. Spine Transfer ............... R2 or L2 (when in the air over a spine) This little move just allows you to transfer over spines during a combo so you can get to other parts of the level a little easier. Not too important, still somewhat useful. Grab Tricks .................. any direction + circle All grab tricks can be held for as long as you need if you keep cirlce held down. They're generally worth more than flip tricks but have slower animations. Flip Tricks .................. any direction + square Flip tricks are most useful for upping your multiplier during your combos. You should try to flip into and out of every grind and manual for a higher score. The animations are pretty fast but they're generally very low-scoring. Grinds ....................... any direction + triangle Grinds are what street skating is all about. It'd be wise of you to get familiar with various special grinds and combinations because in any great combo most of the tricks are grinds. The scores increase until you end the grind, and variety is the key during those longer grinding lines. Lip Tricks ................... any direction + triangle (when riding up vert ramp at 90 degree angle) Lip tricks aren't too usefull at all, are hard to balance, and aren't worth enough points to be included in most of your combos. When losing speed during a vert-only combo, they can be useful as a last resort move before you completely slow down. -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= + .3. + + -Skatethrough- + =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= NOTE: This skatethrough was written using the Sick difficulty setting. Start by pressing X to jump over the fence in front of you. Run forward to the house and press X to jump again, but press R1 while in the air to grab ahold of the roof. Pull yourself up and grab the wheel. Now, run forward and jump of the roof toward the house where the next part is sitting on. If you can make it, jump all the way over and pull yourself up from the edge of the roof. If not, just climb up from the ground. Once there, grab the trucks and turn to the left. Position the camera to get a good view of your next jump, line it up, and go for it. Walk along the roof and get the other wheel, then continue down to the top of your roof for the deck. After Eric gives you back your board, he'll want you to further test out the newest move in the Tony Hawk series. Press R1 and L1 while you're skating toward the barriers to get off your board, then press X to jump both of them. Part two has you running with the board then jumping into a grind on a rail. Easy stuff. For the last part, you need to jump into a grind on the first rail, ollie off and get off your board, jump the barrier, then jump into another grind on the second rail. Be quick about it though, because if you take too much time between the two rails your run timer will empty and the combo will end, thus ending the entire goal. ============================== -Walk Charles- ============================== This is a pretty easy goal involving the skitch move introduced in the last game. To walk Charles, just skate up to him and press 'up' to grab his tail and hold on as he pulls you all over the neighborhood. Hold the skitch for 30 seconds and you get 5 bucks! ============================== -Eric's Challenge- ============================== After talking a little smack with Eric, he'll challenge you to land a Melon grab. Simple. After that, he'll ask you to do the trick again but land it in a revert four different times. Still easy. Next up is a Melon with a revert to manual. When you've done all that, he'll challenge you to beat his high score. Unlike past games, there isn't a set score for you to reach. He'll be racking up his own score while you skate, so just throw down some good combos and make sure his score never gets higher than yours. ============================== -Get in tight with the street warriors- ============================== This is the first of many goals in the game where you'll have to drive some type of vehicle. The car is nice, but driving in this game isn't too exciting thanks to the wacky physics and odd handling. The course goes like this: Drive straight down the road, take a right at the intersection, take the next right, continue down the skinny road at the end of this street, hang a right after the playground, take another right, go down the road you started on, turn right and enter the alley between the houses, hit the wooden ramp, turn left at the street, ride down to the arch at U-turn at the cone, ride back down the street and take the right before the dead end, turn into another alley on your right half way down the street, take a left when you get back on the street, then ride down it to the racing shop where you started. ============================== -Flyer for the Muska demo- ============================== You only have to hit 8 spots, so don't worry about all the green fists you see floating around. You can get them all in one line by grinding the concrete barrier in front of where you start for the first flyer, then hopping into a grind on the ledge next to the house for the second one. Ollie off and skate/manual down the sidewalk for the third flyer, then skate past or grind the next ledge for flyer four. Cross the street and grind the fence that transfers to the brick wall, and hold it to the end for the fifth and sixth flyers. Cross the street again and post the seventh and eigth flyers on the telephone poles down the sidewalk. ============================== -Impress Muska- ============================== It's time to impress Muska as he cruises around and checks out the best skate spots in town. The first he hits is the playground near the skateshop, which is right in front of where you start this goal. Hop the fence and throw down a 150,000 point run to impress him. If you're having trouble getting a score this big, just remember that combos are the key. Throw in as many spins, grabs, and flips as you can while in the pool, and when you slow down too much to go up the side, steady your manual balance and bust a few flatland tricks at the end to get your multiplier up. Also, special tricks are a must for the bigger goals and scores later on in the game. Equip as many as you can, and make sure they're easy to remember. The Indy 900 is the highest scoring trick in the game, so you might want to keep that in mind. Keep working and you'll get the hang of it. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 2: Impressing The Locals -Get in tight with the local skateshop and its riders... ¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯ ============================== -Impress Shawn- ============================== For the first part of this goal, you'll just need to make your way to the roof of the house in front of you. To do that, get some speed and hit the quarter pipe under the house, and press R1 and L1 at the same time during the highest point of your jump to hop off the board and onto the roof. After that, you'll need to get some more speed and transfer the half pipe at an angle towards your house, clearing the alley gap and landing safely in the other pipe. Lastly, you'll be put back into the first half pipe and you'll need to spine transfer back down to the ground. Simply roll forward from the start and hit R2 or L2 in the air for a spine transfer. Too simple. ============================== -Demo the new playground setup- ============================== This goal is very similar to the one where you had to impress Muska, but it's about 50,000 points easier. If you're up for a challenge, try getting the score in one combo, or using only flatland tricks. The entire playground is yours, so take advantage of it! ============================== -Impress Joey- ============================== The first two parts of this goal are just getting you more familiar with the spine transfer, a move that is rarely too useful, but still helpful to some degree. You'll spine transfer over a dumpster wrapped in plywood ramps, and then you'll do it again but with a kickflip on the way over. The interesting part comes last when you have to perform a long list of tricks (about 20) Joey calls out within 1 minute. The tricks are simple (regular flip and grab tricks), so you could probably do them all by just ollieing and without the use of a quarter pipe. Either way, you'll have plenty of time to finish. ============================== -Do Chris's best lines- ============================== I really like this goal because it's good preparation for the lines you'll be nailing later on in the game. Anyway, the first line starts out on the barrier in front of you, then over to the playground fence, then back to the second barrier, then over the street to the fence, then back across the street to the concrete barrier and finally to the last piece of concrete to finish it. The next line is a little more complicated. Start by grinding the concrete ledge in front of you on the sidewalk. Jump out of that and into a manual, and make your way down the sidewalk to the next ledge. Grind it, then hop over the street to the fence and grind it. Hold your balance as you slide down the brick wall, and jump the street again to grind another ledge. At the end of the ledge jump to your right and land a grind on the short brick walls in front of the houses. Jump the last gap and grind the porch to finish the second line. ============================== -Get the stolen items back from the dealers- ============================== Damn druggies, always taking stuff that doesn't belong to them... Luckily, you volunteered to fetch the gear, so it's all up to you. The time limit is 45 seconds, so don't mess it up. Start by sprinting down the streetuntil you pass the row of tall pillars at the front of the school on your right. Jump up and pull yourself onto the short ledge after it. Once there, run down the path and follow it as it turns right and then left again and onto the porch roofs of the houses below. Creep along, jumping over the short gap and continuing until you reach the end. Turn to the left and face the power lines. Don't try this at home, but you'll need to jump at them and grab onto one of the lines by pressing R1. Shimmy along to the right until you're near the telephone poll, then drop. Jump the ledge and grab the board off the porch to finish chapter 2. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 3: Getting Outta Dodge -Eric is in deep with the local dealers! Gotta find a way to get you guys outta there! ¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯ ============================== -Get the scrapmetal for the tombstone maker- ============================== Start by skating down the street in front of you until the red arrow is pointing directly to the right. Get off your board and hop the fence into the yard, then climb onto the roof of the shorter building for the first piece. The second piece is straight across the alley on the roof of the next house. Jump the gap (or climb up) to get over there and grab the icon. Look to the left and jump over to the next roof for piece 3, themn continue down the hilly path to the top of your house for piece 4. The next one is floating on the house across the alley to the left of you, so jump over and grab it. Now, jump down to the street and you should see the last piece sitting on top of a porch across the street. Run into the yard and climb up to it. After you've collected the pieces, the ramp will be set up. Johny Turbo will offer to pull you on the back of his car, so skate up to it and start skitching. Stick to the left side of it because that is the side you will launch from. Hold on until you're a few feet from the ramp (but not too late) then hold X and press 'down' to let go of the car. Release X on the ramp to get some good distance and cross the bridge. ============================== -Get access to the train station- ============================== To confuse Security Stew and gain access to the train station, you have to grind around the flashing concrete circle in the middle of the road 5 times so he'll chase you around it and get confused. It doesn't have to be all at once, so if you fall off just get back up and finish it. And how can Stew run that fast if he's that old? ============================== -Impress the Bratty Kid- ============================== The way I see it you have 2 options here. If you have l33t flatland skills you can just throw down some freestyle moves right where you start. The second option is to try your luck grinding the ledges in the area. Personally, I prefer the former because I'm good like that and not being able to touch any part of the street makes the second option that much harder. Just do what's good for you. ============================== -Catch Ollie's house- ============================== The 5 pieces of Ollie's house are scattered around the train tracks that loop around the station. They all have to be gotten in one combo, so I hope your balance is pretty good. Start by skating forward until you're a few feet from the first piece. Start a grind on either one of the middle rails (preferably the one closer to the piece of cardboard) and keep your balance steady as you make a lap around the tracks on the rail, picking up pieces as you go. Because the wind is blowing the pieces back and forth, if you miss one you'll either have to try and balance a little while longer so you can try for it a second time, or, and I prefer this method, jump off the tracks and land in a manual and take a shortcut to the piece. If you miss 2 or more, this will be pretty hard to do so I recommend starting over. ============================== -Save Eric!- ============================== This is a stupidly simple goal, with an emphasis on stupid. The first part has you chasing the car the dealers have Eric in back to their hangout. Just stay behind them and don't bail and it's too easy. When they get back to their place, Johnny Turbo will head them off and let you borrow his car to chase them back to the train station. Again, just follow the car and it's a snap. |+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+| +|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+ _____________________________________________________________________________ | .3b. | |-- -- -- -- -- -- MANHATTAN -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- | |_____________________________________________________________________________| _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 4: Skate The Big Apple -Out of that dump of a hometown and in the big city! Time to hit some of those great skate spots. ¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯ ============================== -High Score- ============================== 150,000 points shouldn't be too hard for you, especially if you follow the line I used for it. Start by skating forward and ollieing off the concrete kicker ramp in the street. Nail a grab trick with some spin, then land in a manual. Skate a few more feet down the street and hit the short quarter pipe. Do another spinning grab trick and press R2 in the air. This will straighten you out and let you come down on the vert ramp in a grind. So, grind the edge of the ramp to the right, hop the gap to the ledge and grind again, then hop the next gap and land a special grind on the last ledge. At the end of it jump off and manual to the colored barrier across the street. Grind the barrier, then jump off at the end and manual over the the quarter pipe against the wall. Grind it, then hop over and special grind the cars that are parked there. Transfer from the cars to the concrete ledge in front of you. Special grind it as it curves around, then hop the gaps to the blue subway entrances and grind them a little. Ollie off the second one and manual a bit, grinding the grey bench if you want. Head in a straight line toward the building across the street with the quarter pipe against it. Hit the QP and nail a special air. Revert to manual, and use your remaining balance on a few flatland tricks. Don't forget to throw in flip tricks at every possible chance. ============================== -Hold-Grind Combos- ============================== The purpose of this goal is to show you how you can change grinds from one object to another without ollieing if they are close enough together. Two wooden benches have been set up right next to each other for you to practice these combos on. There are only 5 of them, and most of the time you'll get lucky and the same combo will be repeated 2 or 3 times in one set, so it shouldn't be too hard. ============================== -Help the student- ============================== There are 7 purse items scattered throughout the city, and you have 2 minutes to get them back and save the day. Skate forward and grind the red ledge on your right. At the end of it you'll be launched into the air near the ledge the item is on, so grind it to collect the icon. Jump off the ledge and land in the street. Cross over to the other side and continue skating down the sidewalk toward the tall structure the next item is on. Make sure you have your special meter full, and boneless the small quarter pipe under it to reach the icon. Spine transfer over and continue making your way down the sidewalk. You should see the next item floating in the air as you cross the street, so just use the quarter pipe under it to get it. When you come back down, take a right and head down to the end of the street. You should now see an item sitting on top of a banner over some quarter pipes. Hit the quarter pipe under the tickets building and grind the edge of the building's roof to the left. Hop from the roof to the banner for the icon. After you've got it, get back down to the street and follow it down until you see the next item on the left side of the road. Grind the row of dumpsters and you'll be launched into the air at the icon. When you come back down on the street, take a left. Ignore the icon you see to your right, then take the first left. Skate down the left side of this street until you pass the quarter pipe. Use the little ramp to jump up and wallride the wall, then quickly wallie up to get the icon. Make a 180 when you land and head back down the street to the icon you passed. Hit the quarter pipe under the big M, then press R1 + L1 to get off your board on the building. Turn to the right and leap for the last item. ============================== -Kill 5 famous skatespots- ============================== I think Neversoft forgot to make this goal harder for Sick difficulty, because it is insanely easy. At the first spot, the pyramid ledges, your goal is 5,000. How weak is that? It doesn't even have to be in one combo, either. I get more points than that falling down. At the second spot the goal is 10,000, then it's 20,000 at the waterfront, 30,000 at the memorial, and finally 40,000 at the Brooklyn Banks. You should be able to kill these scores, and if you don't I'm suprised you've made it this far. ============================== -Nut vendors unite!- ============================== How this goal has anything to do with uniting the nut vendors is beyond me, but the fact is you have 10 nut carts to destroy. Start by driving down the street and taking out the first guy all the way at the end of it. Make a right after you hit him and cruise down into the banks. At the basketball court down at the end the second cart is waiting for you, so smash it and make a U-turn. Drive up the ramp and take a left as soon as you get back to the sidewalk. Drive up the red brick ramp and you'll see the third cart at the top. Follow the red bricks as they lead you down a few ramps and back into the street. Take a right and smash the guy hanging out by the pyramid ledges. Make another U-turn and head down the street toward the waterfront, making sure to hit the fifth cart on the sidewalk as you do. When you get to the street in front of the waterfront, take a left. Ride down it until you see the row of dumpsters on the left. Slow down and turn into the alley that's just past them. Hit the vendor, then back out of the alley. Pull a reverse 180 and hit the guy standing by the subway entrance. Do another reverse 180 and drive down the street the arrow is pointing at. Hit the eight cart on the right sidewalk, then smash the ninth cart that's at the corner. The final cart is further down the road after you round the corner and he's on the left sidewalk. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 5: Skating With The Locals -Time to shoot your own skate video to send off to Mr. Peralta. Get the locals' help. ¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯ ============================== -Film the local- ============================== Neversoft could have made this goal so much cooler and harder with just a better and more interestinhg control scheme for it. For example, the left analog stick could control how fast and in what direction you skate, and the right stick could control which way the camera is pointed. It would be in first-person, as if you were looking through the camera, and if the skater was off the screen for more than a second you failed. THAT would be realistic. Anyway, just follow the guy down the bridge and you've got this one crossed off. ============================== -Hit the killer banks line- ============================== Roll forward and start a grind on the cars. There's a short gap between 2 of them, so hold down triangle to transfer it successfully. Jump off the last car and manual to the flashing ledge. Grind it, hop the gap, grind the next flashing ledge, then ollie into a manual. Roll over to the benches, grind both of them, then manual up the quarter pipe to finish off the combo. ============================== -Crash and burn the car- ============================== Another pointless driving goal. To overheat this guy's car, just make a lap around the city with it. To make those corners without slowing down too much or hitting something, tap R1 a few times when you turn and keep your finger on X. Once you've gotten the engine temp to 300 degrees, it will catch fire and you'll have 13 seconds to deposit it into the river. Do so by hitting any of the bright flashing ramps set up at the waterfront. Amazingly, you survive the launch unharmed. ============================== -Help the local skater- ============================== The guards like hot, steaming nuts, and you're the guy to give them to 'em. Not like that, you sick bastard! From the nut vendors! To get the first sack, skate down the walkway in front of the guards. Turn left when you reach the sidewalk, and after skating down it for a little while cross the street to where the vendor is. Grab the nuts and U-turn back to the nearest guard. Pass him and skate down that walkway and turn right at the corner. At the end of the path cross the street to the left. Skate down past the pyramid ledges to the nut dealer between the barricades. Head back to the building where the guards are and give the nuts to the guard. Make another U-turn and skate down the sidewalk until you reach the street. Take a right and follow the road down until you see the one-way street on your left. Skate down it until you see the next guy, get the nuts, turn around, then skate back down the one-way. At the intersection go straight and take a shortcut through the memorial. Take a right at the end of the last rail and skate down the path to the final guard. For the second part of the goal, you have to execute a new special trick this guy made up called the 'New York Nut Buster'. He wants you to do the trick while jumping through one of the windows. So, technically, you'll be busting a nut through a window. Don't blame me, blame the game... Anyway, get your special meter up and grind one of the rails toward a window. Jump through the window and nail the move on your way down to finish the goal. ============================== -Gap the burning taxi- ============================== Ignore the kicker ramp next to the taxi. You won't be needing it. You have to ollie over the taxi and do the tricks listed to the right. The quickest way to get them all done is to hit one trick while you ollie, then land in a manual and do another trick to kill 2 at one time. Or more, depending on how long you can go. Finish off the list and your video for Peralta will be complete. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 6: Favors For A Ride -Mr. Peralta thinks you guys might actually have a chance in Tampa. This should be somewhat easy to you now. It's a cramped space, but there are a few short robot lines you can use. Remember to use the wallplant manuever (down + X) if you find yourself manualing straight toward a wall. ============================== -Old school skating techniques- ============================== This goal has 6 different parts with the first 3 involving the no comply. For the first part the chef wants you to practice the no comply by doing it 5 times. After that he'll want you to no comply over a barrier. For the last part he'll ask you to no comply into a manual on a bench, then flip trick out. Simple stuff. The last three parts are all about the boneless. For the first 2 parts, like with the no comply, you'll need to boneless 5 times and then boneless over a tall wall. For the last part of the boneless challenge you have to use it to get extra height off a vert ramp. Ignore the part about big air, all you have to do is boneless and come back down. ============================== -Find the stolen skateshop goods- ============================== Seven local punks have stolen some gear from the skateshop, and with your history of retrieving stolen goods, this shouldn't be a problem for you. However, it's a little different this time. The skaters who have the gear are spread around the city, and they're on the move. This means I can't give you exact locations because their spots vary. But, I will tell you that most of them hang around the banks and the waterfront. Run into them to get the gear back. |+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+| +|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+ _____________________________________________________________________________ | .3c. | |-- -- -- -- -- -- TAMPA -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- | |_____________________________________________________________________________| _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 7: With Syrup Or Jelly -The Tampa cops are holding Eric and they won't let him go unless you run their errands.. ¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯ ============================== -Remove all of the stickers- ============================== 5 skateboarding stickers are stuck on some walls around the city, so to get them down you'll need to do some wallriding and wallieing. Start by hitting the ramp in front of you and grinding the grey rail on the wall. When you get near the gap where the sticker is, wallride the wall and knock it down. When you land back down on the sidewalk, cross over to the other side of the street and skate to where you see the dumpster/ramp set up under the red rails. Hit the ramp and wallride the wall. Wallie up to a grind on the "Skatepark of Tampa" sign, then immediately wallride the wall again to take down the second sticker. You should land nomewhere near the ditch, so just follow it down until it ends at the small building. Take a left and skate around it to the other side where the quarter pipe is. See the sticker? Wallride it down. Now, skate down the wide alley past the cars and dumpsters. Eventually, you'll see the sticker on the wall just after the outdoor skatepark. Get it down, then once you reach the street take a left. Skate down to the strip club. Look at it from the street, and notice the metal ramp that leads up the side of it on the right. Now, notice the narrow alley to the right of it. Skate down it and hit the small quarter pipe made of plywood, and angle yourself to the left so you can grind the red fire escape. Make sure you hop the gap, then when you transfer to the pipe be prepared to wallride the last sticker off the wall next to you. ============================== -Get the best donuts- ============================== What's a cop without a good donut? In shape, that's what. Start collecting the donuts by grinding the blue dumpster and getting the first donut as you hop the gap. After the dumpster, grind up the board leaning against the fence for the next donut. Make sure you grind all the way up and over the fence to get inside the skatepark, and once there hit the half pipe under the closest donut. Come down from your air and exit the halfpipe. Air off the shorter quarter pipe against the wall for the next donut. Cross the half pipe when you get back down and spine transfer for donut 5. Air off the next quarter pipe for the sixth donut, then hit the ramp near the fence and spine transfer over it for the seventh donut. Cross the water and ollie over the ledge for a donut, then skate across the street to the short rail the next donut is on. Continue down the path until you can grind the wall on your left for the tenth donut. Hit the quarter pipe for donut eleven, then press R2 to even yourself out in the air and come back down in a grind to the right for the next donut on the ledge. ============================== -The skateboarding bandit- ============================== I'll admit, this is a pretty tough goal. You start with 5 seconds on the clock and once the timer runs out you must be in a combo or you'll fail. Start by grinding the rail on your right with the money on it. As soon as you get the second piece, ollie off the rail. If you timed it right, you'll fly straight at the power line where the third cash piece is. Steady your balance and get some speed if you need to, and get the next icon after you grind around the little curve. After you get the fourth piece, jump down to the street and land in a manual. Roll up to the fence on your left and grind it for the cash. Hop to the railing on the sidewalk and grind it for the 2 icons. Jump the gaps to get the next 2, then manual across the street. Grind the bleachers for 2 more icons, then manual over to the quarter pipe against the small building. Roll up it for some cash, and grind the edge of the roof to get the last piece. ============================== -Help the private eye- ============================== To get to the cheater's car, follow the sidewalk in front of you and continue along as it curves to the right. Keep skating until you reach the really high plywood ramp. The car is on the other side, and you'll have to be quick about your grinds because you probably only have about 15-20 seconds if you were fast. Once you've done that, you'll have to pull a Japan over the purple awning of the strip club. Go from ramp to ramp, and once that's done you have some dry cleaning to deliver. Make a left turn at the corner, then cross to the right side of the street. Once you pass the stone quarter pipe with the flowers on top, ollie up the stairs on your right to find the first customer. Continue down the path with the rail down the middle of it until the wall on your left ends. Cross the street and go up the steps the arrow is pointing at. The next lady is waiting for you there. Continue around the side of the building and down the narrow path back towards the street. Ollie over the wall at the end, then turn right and look for the girl. Drop her clothes off and skate down the street the arrow is pointing down. Give the guy at the strip club his clothes. Now, keep skating down the road until it turns left, but keep skating into the grass straight towards the guy standing by the fence. ============================== -Revenge!!!- ============================== Skate up the tall quarter pipe on your right to reach the first banner. Grind it down, then get back to the street and continue down it. The next banner will be on your right, so hit the ramp that you see in front of it to get enough air to grind it. Once it's down, cross the street and grind the next sign. Skate down the street to the very end. Cross over to where you see the fourth sign in the grass behind the street railing. After you've grinded it, skate down the street a little farther and if the timer runs out manual the rest of the way to the last sign. Once you've tore it down, you'll have to drive a cop car to get away from the cops. Basically, you just need to circle the block twice, hitting the green markers, and then launch the car into the water. The only suprises you should know about are the cop car that pulls out in front of you shortly after you get the first marker (stick to the right side of the road), and the cop who pulls out in front of you when you're at the intersection right before you get back to your starting point (again, stick to the right. It's a tight fit between the pole and the cop car). When you make your second trip past the entrance to the skatepark, cross over and drive down the sidewalk for the marker. Hit the last green arrow to launch the car into the water and finish the chapter. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 8: Grease The Pros -This sucks! He'll ask you to do a few tricks (40) on the party boat half pipe to liven up the party. All the tricks are simple flips and grabs, and if you can do about 2 tricks per air you can finish with plenty of time. ============================== -Wallplant combo- ============================== This goal pisses me off so much! I must have tried it over 200 times and only completed it once! What the hell is that?! This goal is WAY too hard for this early in the game, and with a maximum manual balance of 6 there is no way this goal should be so hard. I thought manualing the switchbacks in Alcatraz was hard, but somehow this is even harder. It's nowhere near as long as the switchbacks, but the switchbacks never made me want to destroy my controller with a flaming battle axe. But, maybe it's just me? Enough of my ranting, anyway. The only tips I can give you are obvious: Keep your balance as steady as possible. After so many tries, I've concluded that the best way to keep your balance steady is to keep it in the center of the meter as long as you can. That means you need to constantly and LIGHTLY tap up or down to keep the arrow in the very center. When it does start to swing towards either side, don't ever hold down on either the up or down buttons. This will cause it to swing to that side very quickly, and you'll fall. Instead, tap it quickly a few times to keep it under control. Anyway, IF you make it around the turn, when you get about halfway to the last set of cones your balance will go crazy, and to the people skilled enough to keep their balance, I salute you. Good luck. One other thing, remember to hold down X as you manual to give you a small boost of speed that will decrease the time you need to manual without making it too hard to turn. ============================== -Beat Andrew's best combos- ============================== Andrew's 3 best combos are 30,000, 40,000, and 50,000. Obviously, you could easily flatland all three of these, but let's be creative here. There are a lot of lines in Tampa to exploit, so go all out for these. You don't have to stay in the spot you start each combo in, so do some exploring before you begin your lines. ============================== -Bowl grind- ============================== Skate forward and start a grind on the edge where the first set of bottles is. Hold your grind until you reach the bottom of the bowl, then jump to the right and grind the outside of the grey concrete as it curves around the outside of the bowl and you'll collect the next 3 bottles. As soon as you get the third, quickly ollie over the grass and start another grind on the edge of the bowl for the last bottles. ============================== -Prove yourself- ============================== The first part of this goal asks you to perform any trick with a 360 spin. After that you need to pull off a 720 with a revert. For the last part you'll just need to do a 720 trick with a revert to manual. Too simple. ============================== -Impress Tony Hawk- ============================== This is just like the party boat goal, but it is a little harder because about half the tricks you have to do involve 540 spins. It's still pretty easy though, and when you've finished the list you'll get to go head-to-head with Tony Hawk in the half pipe to beat his high score. Like the last few high score goals you've done, the score you have to beat is constantly changing because it's being set as you skate. Just put together a few 100,000+ combos and you should top the master pretty easily. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 9: Kill The Comp -Time to lay down the law - if you can kill this competition, you might just make a name for yourself. ¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯ ============================== -Place in street contest- ============================== 3 rounds. 30 seconds each. Best 2 rounds count. You don't have to win, just place in the top 5. It's cramped, but there are a few lines you can destroy. I prefer to start out with something like a 360 flip to manual, then roll down toward either of the funboxes. If I roll to the right one I'll get my special meter up with a few tricks before I flip into a special grind on the curved rail. Jump off and land in a special manual and head for the soapbox. When you lose your speed, flip into another manual and make your way back down the ramp. Get back to the rail and special grind it. Hop off at the end and air off the quarter pipe on your left. Once you've built up some speed heading towards that soapbox you can manual straight up it then wallplant off the wall above it and land in a manual heading back towards the funbox. Try out these lines if you're having any trouble with this competition. ============================== -Place in vert contest- ============================== 3 rounds. 30 seconds each. Best 2 rounds count. You don't have to win, just place in the top 5. Combos are the key. Make sure you edit in some high scoring vert specials before you start the goal to make it a little easier. Add spin to your tricks whenever possible, but make sure you don't land sideways and wreck your entire combo. Once you've run out of speed you can steady your balance and pull off some last-minute flatland tricks for an added multiplier. ============================== -Get onto the roof of spot- ============================== Walk forward a few feet and climb onto the little roof. Run over to the next overhang and climb onto it. Now, find the ladder and make your way to the top. Once there, you'll be required to score 300,000 points without leaving the roof. My favorite line is as follows: Start a grind on the large red pipe. Flip trick into different grinds until your special meter is up, then special grind a bit. When the pipe curves to the left and starts to lead you toward the edge of the roof, ollie off it and land a grind on one of the wires connecting the roofs. Special grind it a few times then manual over to the quarter pipe when you get to the other side. Pull off a good special, then cross over to the smaller QP and pull off another special. Go back and forth between the quarter pipes until your speed or your balance fails. ============================== -Win best trick contest- ============================== The first part of the goal is an elimination round. Every 30 seconds the skater with the lowest score is eliminated. Just put together a few decent combos and you'll stay well ahead of the pack. After all the wannabes are eliminated, it's down to just you and Eric. Think of this like that goal in the first chapter where he asked you to beat his high score, but this time the winner gets sponsored. You're basically going head-to-head and best score wins. The key here is put together some lengthy combos. Find a good robot line you like and go back and forth on it, flip tricking at every possible momment and using specials every chance you get. A few hundred thousand should be enough. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 10: Sponsor Pick -Too many choices! Time to join a real team. It also helps that you have a photographer with you to catch it all. The first of 4 tricks you'll be doing down the stairs is a heelflip. Roll forward and cut to the left to the top of the stairs, then bust the trick right down the middle of them. After that it's on to a double kickflip, but it's still easy enough to nail without a problem. Do a double impossible for the third trick, and then land a 360 flip down the stairs to kill the spot. ============================== -Daredevil high line- ============================== This goal is a little too easy for this point in the game, but I'm not complaining. Start it off by grinding the ledge in front of all the way around the curve until it ends for the first 3 flower pots. Skate around the corner to find the next ledge. Grind it like the last one, and when you're done with it there's only 2 flower pots left. Continue around the last corner and grind that ledge to finish it off. ============================== -Air out the atrium- ============================== This goal is very similar to "Flip the big stairs" in that it involves you doing four different tricks over a huge gap. This time, however, we're doing grab tricks and the gap is a little harder to clear. The first trick you'll need to do is a Melon grab, but before you can even attempt it you'll need your special meter up. Once you've gotten it up, come down on one of the quarter pipes and skate straight at the gap. Boneless at the very last second to get as much air as possible and do the trick as you come down. The second trick is a stiffy, the third trick is a rocket air, and the last one is a one foot tailgrab. Just get your special meter up before each trick and boneless correctly and this should be an easy enough goal. ============================== -Rooftop technician- ============================== Here's a pretty simple tech trick goal. On one of the rooftops, you have to manual through one set of cones, varial heelflip over a traffic barrier, then continue the manual until the second set of cones. Easy goal, but I like it. ============================== -See a man about a horse- ============================== Here's another one of those goals where you do a set of tricks someone tells you to do. What's the twist here? You have to do them while spine transferring the horse statue. The tricks are very simple and this shouldn't take you more than one try. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 12: Party! Party! The first spot is right in front of you on the wall. Plant it, then turn left and skate up the steps toward the flagpole and the fountain. Before you get there you should see the second spot on a building off to your right. Wallplant it, then skate back through where you just came from. When you hit the street, the third spot should already be visable on your left. Plant it, then turn left when you hit the street and skate into the short tunnel. The fourth flyer goes on the inside of it. When you land back on the street, turn right then take the first left. Follow the street as it curves to the right, and you should spot the last flyer spot on the wall there. ============================== -No band...No party. Bummer!- ============================== Gather the first instrument by skating forward a bit and grinding the ledge there on the right side of the road. It'll take you right to the first guitar. Once you have it, skate down the narrow one-way street around the horse statue until you reach the 4-way intersection. Skate into the building that's in front of you and on the right side of the road. Once inside, ride up the quarter pipe on your left and grind the railing. You'll pick up the bass guitar as you grind, and once you reach the last part of the rail jump straight off. Quickly ollie over the street below and land on the red slanted roof the drumsticks are on. Grab them, then head to the flag pole. Skate up into it, then turn around and line yourself up with the mic. Boneless toward it and collect it for the band. ============================== -No one likes a dude festival- ============================== At first glance this looks like just another horrible driving goal, and half of it is, but that other half is pretty neat. You have to impress the girls you pick with skate tricks, but we'll get to that as we get to the girls. Start by driving straight ahead to the intersection. Turn left and follow the road as it curves to the left to meet the first goal. She'll demand a 100,000 point combo for her services. This shouldn't be a problem for you now, so just kill the great grinding lines around here. I got 1,950,000 on improv just messing around, so this is cake. Once you have her, U-turn and head back down the street you went there on. Take a left at the first intersection and folllow the one-way street until the see the second girl on your left. She'll want you to do a few flatland tricks for her. Go into a manual and pop off the tricks as they appear in the list on the right. Once that's done, you'll have only 1 girl left to get. Get back onto the street and follow it as it curves around the Bigorgan amphitheater. When the road ends, keep riding around the theatre until you see the girl. You'll need a 150,000 point score, and since you've already done 2/3 that in just a combo, this is easier than cake. Especially considering you're looking right at the biggest robot line in the level, if not the game. ============================== -Acid drop the two towers- ============================== Here's an interesting, short, and easy goal. You have to acid drop from both of the towers up there because Ralphie chickened out. Walk forward and climb the ladder against the tower to get up there with ralphie. To scid drop correctly, jump off the edge of the tower and press R2 in the air. To get back to the ladder, ride up the quarter pipe under the towers and get off your board in the air. You'll land on the concrete ledge under the towers, and if you look on the right side of the right tower you'll see the ladder. Climb it, then jump the gap to the second tower. Acid drop again to finish the goal. ============================== -All we need is a system and some rims- ============================== Drive forward and go through the first set of cones. Stick to the street as it curves around the horse statue. Blow through the intersection but slow down as you reach the curve. Take a left at the next intersection and head through the tunnel. Follow the street and drive up the ramp after the sharp turn to the left. Continue down the ramp and circle the fountain. Make sure you slow down as you get the set of cones at the top of the staris because you'll need to cross over to the right side and get another set. After that just drive straight down the street to the last set of cones. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 13: Demo Time -Your first team demo - but where is everyone? The catch? You'll have to continually switch from one side of the cart to the other side as you skitch so you can avoid the other cops. Just start by grabbing onto the left side of the cart. When you pass the first cop, quickly switch to the right side by pressing R2. After you pass the second cop press L2 to get back on the left side. Repeat this after every cop you pass and this goal is a breeze. The only parts of the route where this pattern changes is when you're riding down the wide walkway to the left and at the bottom of the huge stair set. When you pass the cop don't switch sides until you get to the street and pass the cop there. The second area is when you're passing though the short tunnel on your way to the wide open area where the flagpole and fountain are. When you pass the last cop before entering the tunnel, don't switch sides until you pass the first cop after exiting the tunnel. Too easy. ============================== -Round up the posse for the demo- ============================== Start by turning to the right and airing the quarter pipe under the two towers you had to acid drop from. Get off your board and land on the ledge, then walk to the right of the towers and find the ladder. Climb it to the top of the first tower, then jump the gap to the second tower where the first guy is. Once you've found him, acid drop down to the street below. Skate over to the amphitheater and go around the left side of it. The second guy is sitting in some bushes over there, so keep an eye out for him. Get back to the street when you find him and follow the one-way down and through the intersection. If you look up, you'll see the third guy laying on the ledge of a building. Ride up the quarter pipe under him and get off your board in the air, but as you do this make sure you press R1 to grab onto the ledge then pull yourself up. Otherwise you'll just fall back down to the ground on your feet. Get back on the one-way street and head back the way you came. Take a left at the intersection, then turn and skate into the building on your right. You should see the fourth skater over some steps to your right, so ollie up them and get him. Turn around and exit the building. Take a right and toward the flag pole, but look to the right until you see the last green fist. Make your way to the quarter pipe he's sitting on and air off it to finish the goal. ============================== -3 is no crowd, find more kids- ============================== A 50,000 point combo? Ridiculously easy. Just use the quarter pipe under the horse statue and the one in front of the amphitheater, or flatland it. Whatever you like. ============================== -The kids love those free stickers!- ============================== When you collect the 20 stickers, you don't have to do it in a combo, though they are set up in such a line that if you wanted an extra challenge you could try for them all in one combo. However you do it, start by skating forward and collecting the first sticker. The next one is on the first rail in the tunnel, and the third sicker is in the middle of the road as you cross over to the right side of it. Get the forth sticker on the sidewalk, then stickers 5, 6, and 7 on the green benches. Collect number 8 as you cross over to the ledge by the water and the stairs. Get stickers 9 and 10 when you grind it, then hop the gap to the planter ledge for stickers 11, 12, and 13. Grind the fountain for 14, 15, and 16, then collect number 17 as you skate toward the last 3 stickers by the quarter pipe. ============================== -Tear it up at the demo- ============================== The first part of this goal is about nailing the grinds they call out on the high rail. You'll have to ollie from the bank leading up to it to reach the bar you need to grind. The time limit is VERY tight, so instead of skating all the way to the quarter pipe to turn around, I suggest you press down, down, R1 right after you land from the rail to pull a quick 180. This saves just enough time for you to finish all the grinds as the timer runs out. For the second part of the goal you'll need to nail a 200,000 point high score for the local media. You're in a skatepark, so finding good lines shouldn't be that hard. You'll need to get your special meter up and then do a Russian boneless on the lights above the quarter pipe you're skating toward when the goal starts. There's not much to it. Just do the trick on the lights and drop back down. |+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+| +|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+|+ _____________________________________________________________________________ | .3e. | |-- -- -- -- -- -- HAWAII -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- | |_____________________________________________________________________________| Secret Tape: Get to the top of the white hotel. Skate over to the quarter pipe closest to the elevator entrance on the edge of the roof. Check out the right side of it, in that little space between it and the edge. You should see a wire hanging from the building, and if you look down some you'll see the secret tape on this wire. Grind it to get it. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 14: Get lei'd -Go explore! Just don't get into any trouble like those crazy Brady Kids! ¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯ ============================== -Wedding guest- ============================== A lot of people have problems getting the tricks to register correctly for this goal. This is probably because they try to do the tricks as they're skating past the couples to save time or something. You have to come to a complete stop (or close to it) and then perform the trick. The first of the four couples is standing right in front of where you start. Roll forward and stop between them. Do the kickflip, then turn to your right and skate over to the pink hotel. The next couple is waiting behind the pools, so roll up and pop the impossible for the picture. Now, turn around and head back the way you came. Stick to the narrow stone path as it cuts to the left, then follow it to the street. Take a right and skate over to the front of the white hotel. Behind the 4 large pillars you should see the third couple. Heelflip between them, then look across the street to the International Trinket Place. Skate into it and all the way to the back. Ride up the wall with the wave painted on it and spine transfer over. Look around and you should see the last couple standing against the wall for the last picture. ============================== -Get lei'd- ============================== Pronounced like layed, but different in meaning. You need to collect 5 of these cheap hawaiian necklaces, so start by grabing the one on the concrete quarter pipe in front of you across the street. Come down from the ramp and turn right. Skate onto the grass and find the curved tree the second lei is on. Grind up and down it, then skate back to the street and follow it down to the International Trinket Place. Skate inside it and spine transfer the big rock in the middle of the trees for the next lei. Continue to the back of the mini-mall and spine transfer over and out of it using the surfing mural/wall. Turn to the right and find the quarter pipe advertising 50-50.com. Transfer it over the fence on the right for the fourth lei. Skate out of this fenced-in area and cross the street to the curving ledge with the benches on it. Grind the right side of it, the green edge, until the very end. It'll curve up and launch you onto the ledge the last lei is on. ============================== -Pineapple killer- ============================== Drive straight ahead and down the street. Take out the first pineapple stand on your left, then cut over to the right for the second stand. Continue down the street to your left and look for the next stand on the right. Smash it, then follow the road along until you see the fourth stand near the purple benches. Take a left after you smash it and drive down this road until it stops. Continue onto the grass and if you look to where the stone path forks to the left and right, the last stand will be on the left path. ============================== -Speak Hawaiian- ============================== This is definitely the most interesting goal in the chapter because it reminds me of the C-O-M-B-O goals from THPS4, and those rocked. Here, you have to collect all the letters of Hana Nui in one combo. I love it! Start by grinding the ledge the H is on. Ollie off it and manual to the second purple bench for the A. Jump off and manual up the quarter pipe against the building on your left. Transfer over the fence and grab the N. Revert to manual when you come down and roll across the street to the curving ledge the A is on. Grind to the very end then launch into a grind on the concrete canopy for the N. Keep your balance steady as you grind up the wire, and pop a few special grinds if you need to get your special up. Collect the U and hold the grind until you can hop the gap between the ledges for the I. ============================== -Drain the pool- ============================== The first part of this plan requires you to wallplant the blue vending machine 3 times. Easy enough, just make sure you have a 90 degree angle when you try to wallplant it. For the second part of the goal, you have to acid drop from a platform high above the pool to create a huge splash. Climb the ladder in front of you to get to the first ledge. Look to the right for the second ladder. You'll have to jump the gap to get to it, so make a running leap and grab the edge of the ledge if you need to. Climb the ladder all the way up to the platform with the green fist, then take a leap and acid drop to the pool below. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 15: Find The Ultimate Spot -Gotta find the perfect spot. ¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯ ============================== -Impress the girls- ============================== Impressin' the ladies is a big part of skateboarding. And if the ladies of Hawaii want some combos, you're going to give them some! All three pairs want to see a 25,000 point combo, and that's something you could do with one hand. Jump into the pool in front of you and start the combo for the first set of ladies. Once you've nailed the combo, exit the pool and head over to the beach in front of the hotel. Park your board near the ladies and throw down some quick flatland tricks for the score. After they've been satisfied, find the stone path and follow it over to the white hotel. Pick a pool and start tricking for the last set of ladies. ============================== -Luau competition- ============================== This is a pretty hard competition because there is practically nothing to trick off of. Basically, it's two quarter pipes separated by some sand and trees. You can't leave this area or your combo will be aborted. You only have to place in the top 3 to pass the goal, and for that you'll need a score of at least 400,000. Make sure you have a few special air tricks and a few special manuals for it. Start the combo with a nice special, revert to manual (special manual, if you can) over to the other quarter pipe, trick again, revert to manual again, and by now you should be slowing down a bit. When you get to the quarter pipe ride up it and lip trick to get your multiplier up. Revert to manual from that and use up the last of your balance with some special manuals/flatland tricks. ============================== -Wallows combo bowls- ============================== 90% of the emails I get about this game have to do with this goal. It blows my mind because this is actually a very easy goal if you think about it. You have to get all 3 wallows bowl gaps in one combo. All 3 are highlighted by green fists. All 3 appear to be air gaps. So, what can we gather from this? We need to revert to manual. Just ride up the side the wallows, air over the first, revert to manual as you come down, roll across to the next fist, air over it, revert to manual, then ride over and gap the last wallows bowl to finish the goal. Simple. ============================== -High lines- ============================== I hope you're not afraid of heights or long grinding lines, because this goal has both. Get your grind balance stat as far up as you can, then start the grind on the black railing to your right. You'll be transferred to the colored wire, then there's nothing to do but balance. You have to switch to a crooked grind while on the wire, so just do it whenever you like before the grind ends. When you see the words "That's far enough," jump off the wire and land safely. ============================== -Off the walls- ============================== Remember the wallplant combo in Tampa? This isn't quite as hard, but it's still a little annoying. Start this combo by ramping off the kicker and landing in a manual in the ditch. Hold your balance to the end of it, avoiding the boards in the middle, and ride up the quarter pipe there. Revert to manual when you come down and begin the second leg of the manual. You should have just enough speed to make it back, but if you slow down too much press left, right, square to do a spacewalk for some speed. Make sure you do the handstand somewhere before you pass the bridge, and once you've gotten the "Off the walls manual rewind" gap you can end the manual and the goal. ============================== -Kill wallows- ============================== If you've beaten THPS4, this goal should remind you a lot of one exactly like it in London. You had to trick off of 44 objects there, but you only need 20 here. It's still a challenge, though, so pay attention. Start by airing off the side of the wallows and spine transferring in mid-air. This should even you out so you can land a grind on the fence. Grind until you see the brown balcony railing on the house to your right. Jump over to it and grind. When the railing ends you'll land on another balcony with a ramp on it. Skate in a straight line off this ramp, but don't ollie. Instead, just roll off the edge and hold down triangle. You will start a grind on another house, and if you hold down triangle you'll transfer to a few more houses before landing on a slanted green roof. Ramp straight off this roof and grind the edge of the next house's roof. You'll be launched off the gutter and you should land back in the wallows with 7 objects tagged. Ride up the plywood ramp on the right and grind the highway barrier to the right. Hold your grind as you transfer to the fence, and pay close attention to the fence as you grind. When you see the wooden section of it coming up, ollie off the chain-link and grind it, then jump back into the wallows to finish this side of it and the first 10 objects. Now, skate back to where you started at the end of the wallows. Look for the fence that isn't red. Ride up the side of the wallows and start a grind on this fence. When you get to the first balcony on your left, jump over and grind it. Fall off this grind and start another one on the stone wall. Hop off the stone wall and grind the roof of the small hut-like structure in the yard below. Jump from that to a landing on the next porch. Line yourself up, and launch from the ramp at the end of it to the roof of the next house. Transfer the grind to the slanted roof, and on your way down the back side of it jump to the right and land back in the wallows. You should now have 17 of 20 objects. Ride up the plywood ramp on the left and grind the highway barrier to the left. Hold your grind as you transfer to the fence, and pay attention to the red objects you pass on your right. When you get to the third balcony (the long one after the gap separating it from the two shorter ones) jump onto it. Now, skate to the end of it and you should see a short stone ledge just to the right of the fence. Hop the balcony railing and grind this ledge for the last object. ============================== -Island liptrick tour- ============================== The first lip is right in front of you. Ride up the stone and lip the limb for 5 seconds, or until the fist disappears. Exit the trinket shop and turn left at the street. At the corner you should see the next fist. Hit the quarter pipe under it and lip the rail until it registers. Turn right and skate down the street, following it as it cuts to the left. See the third spot? Lip the bamboo over the quarter pipe, then skate straight down the street in front of you until it splits left and right. Take the right road and roll onto the grass. Go around to the side of the hotel where the last spot is. Ride up the side of the hotel next to the fence and hold the lip trick until the goal is completed. ============================== -Climb the hotel- ============================== Walk forward and climb on top of the bus. Walk to the edge of it and jump up to grab the ledge of the hotel. Pull yourself up, then look to the left at the gap between the ledges. Hop to the other side of it, and if you jump too short use R1 to grab the ledge and hold on while you pull yourself up. Walk to the ladder and climb it. Once at the top, walk along to the right and find the hanging wire. Jump to it and grab it. Shimmy to the right until to reach the roof. You have now found the perfect spot. _<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_<>_ Chapter 16: Get The Shot -The perfect spot. The video killer. Sack up and get the footage. ¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯<>¯ ============================== -Hotel hopper- ============================== You probably don't need special for this. Just skate to the very edge of the ramp and boneless off. There are some flagpoles hanging off the edge of the roof you're aiming for, so if you're a few feet short just grind one of them and you'll still get credit for the goal. ============================== -Craziest footage ever- ============================== The first thing you need to do for this last goal in Hawaii is a 500,000 point high score on the rooftop. Use the robot line to put this away easily. For the second part, you're gonna spine transfer over the side of the hotel and land a 900 air on the quarter pipe below. Just start your spin as soon as you hit the first quarter pipe, then press R2 while you're spinning to make the transfer. When all those little things are done, it's time for the main event. The goal is to do a McTwist from the roof of the white hotel to a half pipe on the pink hotel. Over a hovering helicopter. To do this, you'll need special, so grind the pipes next to you and trick off the quarter pipe near the launch ramp. Grind the pipes back down to the other side of the roof as you build your special meter up. Trick once more off the quarter pipes down there, and start to build up speed for the jump by grinding the pipes on the left as you head down to where the ramp is. When you're almost there, lightly jump to the left off the pipes and line yourself up with the right side of the ramp. Boneless off it for good measure, and do the McTwist as you fly over the helicopter's blades. If all goes well you should land in the pink half pipe (or on the ground, just as long as you land the trick) with the sickest footage ever! -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= + .4. + + -Secret Tapes/Secret Levels- + =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The Secret Tapes: New Jersey - Skate over to the bridge from the neighborhood's side. Get off your board and walk down the steep banks on the left side of it until you reach the skinny sidewalk before the water. Turn to the right and keep walking under the bridge to where the secret tape is. Manhattan - Skate over to the metro center (the huge glass building). Look around the bottom of the welcome sign and find the ladder. Climb up it, then climb onto the top of the sign for the secret tape. Tampa - Look for the building with the words "Florida WT Plaza" on it. It'll be on the right side of the street, across from the bank and near the cop car you can drive in the later part of the level. Once you've found it, use either one of the quarter pipes on the sides of it to air up and grind the rail above. Grind it to the right and you'll eventually transfer to a wire. Grind this wire all the way up to the top of the building, then skate to the middle of it and the second building. You should see a very narrow alley between the two buildings. The secret tape is in the crack, so jump down there and grab it. San Diego - Make your way to the amphitheater. There's a tall structure in the back with covered concrete walkways on either side of it that curve around toward you. If you look close enough you'll see the secret tape floating in the air above the walkway on the left. Now look to the left and find the end of the covered walkway. Skate around to the backside of it and find the quarter pipe near it. Use this to air up and into the the quarter pipe on top of the walkway. Once there, skate down the path and air off the quarter pipe under the tape to collect it. Hawaii - Get to the top of the white hotel.
