Hana needs the Magical Cane Clubs that are unlocked from Arin's first route. I also finished up the Stroke and Match courses. Sorry about that. It has also been proven that the Suiza and Kuribo balls are in this game... they're just VERY VERY VERY VERY RARE. I want to thank everyone for the emails and kind words as I have been away and doing other things (like ya do). I cannot (and haven't) answered all the emails I get some ask questions that I have answered in this FAQ and some just write to say thanks (those are my favorites). As for getting PangYas and power shots folks... you need to practice. It's all timing. Please don't email me on tips for that because I cannot come to your house and show you. Just keep the wiimote straight and swing and try to get in the white zone. 01/17/2007- *"Apterous" pointed out some spelling errors, and another uber- thank-you to "Satoshiji" for his kind words and EVEN MORE info for the FAQ. I have added him to the contributors above because of the amount of help he has allowed us to use. 01/11/2007- *"Jenya" lets me know that the Japanese codes work but only unlock for one character. Thanks, my friend. "Jenya" also informed me that the Japanese Wii version does have Spinning Dolfini... so I have no clue as how to unlock the two last Phoenix Balls. Shuuki made the groovy header. Cool, ain't it? 01/09/2007- *"No Thanks" got to 'Master' rank and says that the bar keeps going up. Added some information on Silvia cannon. Added a menu of sorts to make looking for things a bit easier. More great tips from "Satoshiji". I (JewWario) personally tried these out last night and they all worked for me. I was able to get to a good spot on the green ~35% faster than the CPU! With practice I can do the calculations in my head. Give them a shot, and let me know how you do! 01/08/2007- *Added some helpful tips to people. The tips are a conglomoration of tips from GameFAQs and other sites. Hope this helps. Also added some of the missing unlockable items for Festa play for Cecilia. Added some Suizo and Korobot Phoenix conjecture. I also added some STELLAR information in the tips section! A MUST READ!! Super Pangya thanks to "Satoshiji" for this helpful information! 01/07/2007- *So many people are writing in to express their thanks and to give tips. Sorry for the delay. "Jestek" added some information about items. "No Thanks" gave information about what ranks you aquire in the game. "ZeroFZX" reiterated that the swimsuit for one of Max's storylines is the Competition Swimsuit. Fixed some Katakana mis-reads and added up to level 5 information on Match Play. *JewWario unlocks Arin. 01/05/2007- *Fixed some of the elements to make it more attractive. Added information on stats and how they can be purchased up. Added item information (how to use). Edited Pangya Combo Ring information. Added most of the clothing information for Festa story progression (thanks for reminding me 'nygiants519'). 01/04/2007- *Posted on GameFaqs 01/02/2007- *Started on the main framework of this FAQ. Started working on the missing information' section. *JewWario finished Cecilia's initial Festa storyline. ********** **~MENU~** ********** 1) Missing Information * Statistics * Scoring 2) Course Special Information * Shining Sands * Silvia Cannon 3) Using Items 4) Festa Progress 5) Stroke Play 6) Match Play 7) Equipment * Clubs * Phoenix * Rings * Edibles & Helpful Items * Other Posessions 8) Ranks 9) Secrets and Neat Things 10) Helpful Tips 11) Quirks To Look Out For 12) Japanese & PC Version Differences 13) Super Swing Golf Websites 14) Legal & Thanks Work-In-Progress **************** As we progress through this game, Shuuki and I will be updating this FAQ. Thank you for your enjoyment and for your patience. If you come across any discrepancies or any additional information, please feel free to email me and I shall add it to the FAQ. -JewWario Disclaimer ********** This is not a walkthrough. Second, we're not experts in the game (yet). I can read Japanese and I got most of this information from a Japanese Wiki site... and even THEY don't have all the answers. So please understand this if you see an error and just email me to let me know what we got wrong and we'll fix it A.S.A.P. Thanks. I'm actually really surprised there wasn't an FAQ about this game sooner. Also, I can copyright my words, but the game is already copywrited by several companies. Please do not steal this document. You may use it. I want you to. That’s why we wrote it. But if you would like to post it on your site, please get permission first and don’t change the information inside of it. You might as well make your own FAQ in that case. Finally, we will include Super Swing Golf websites at the end of this FAQ. This is not because I am promoting anyone. I will not include "Pangya PC Game" information, though. "Pangya" is for the PC and this is for the Wii. Two different things. o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Missing Information ******************* The instruction manual, unfortunately, does not cover everything. Surprise surprise. So in this section we will cover the bits that you need to know to play the game better (and even some information that may help you improve your game). **~STATISTICS~** The booklet doesn't detail how the five different statistics affect the game. Here is how the abilities actually work: * Power: Power increases the length of the drive. * Control: Control makes the power meter move slower. * Accuracy: Accuracy gives the player more room for error if he misses getting a PangYa. * Spin: Increases the amount of spin which can put on the ball. * Curve: Curve increases the amount of curve which can be put on the ball. Now some of these aspects don't seem like they would come into play if you are swinging the remote like a club in lieu of using the button controls, but they do. When swinging the wiimote, you have to either beat or keep up with the dropping power meter. If you are too slow, then you won't put as much force behind your swing as you might have wanted to (even though you placed the bar at full before you swung!) So be sure to have that Control stat up there even when not playing the button mode. In 'Your Room' look to the lower right. There's that box that shows her stats in five coloured lines. If you click on that box you will see her TOTAL bonuses. What they show in the room is just her stat adjustments from the clothes and items. This is something they really didn't go into in the manual. This way, you can really get a feeling of what clothes do what. Now, clothes come with two numbers next to the stat it helps. Something like: Power 1 (0) The first number is what you get immediately. You get 1 to your Power. Done. The second number is what you CAN get if you buy it. In the example above, there is no "buy-up". But if there were, then you could go to the 'Your Room' grid (the one I talked about above) and click the button just above the grid. Now, you can buy up your scores with Pang. Another nice thing is that if you buy your stats up, and then change clothing that would lower your stats... you do not lose that purchase. When you next change into clothes or an item that allows you to buy a stat up... your previous purchase will re-appear. Good thing too. Buy-ups are expensive. Then again if you want to reduce a stat that you had bought up it'll cost Pang as well. Be wary on how you spend your Pang in this area. **~SCORING~** Scoring is like normal golf, but what if there is a tie? A winner from a tie is decided on whomever has the most amount of Pang Points throughout the game. o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Course Special Information ************************** **~SHINING SANDS~** In the Shining Sands there are tall round stone portals vertically standing. These are Booster Gates. When you hit your ball into one of these gates, it shoots off in a given direction. Sometimes this is a good thing. Sometimes it can be projected right behind you. **~SILVIA CANNON~** In the beginning of several holes on this course, there is a major cannon pointing a specific way. In two shots (about) it will have charged up and will fire for a few more turns. No matter which way the wind was blowing before, this now causes the wind to blow towards the shot at 8-9m. Be sure you calculate this into your plans as it can happen in a split-second... even in the middle of your shot! o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Using Items *********** Press the '2' button. Really easy. To place items so you can use them, go to the 'My Room' screen and choose your items (like you were going to choose clubs). Go to the item screen and, if you have items either purchased from the shoppe or won in Spinning Dolfin, you can drag them to the grid to the upper right side. You can only hold so many, so choose well. o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Festa Progress ************** The main Festa storyline is first. Good Score storyline opens up when you re-play a particular hole and not allow the CPU opponent to win any of the holes at all. If you do this, then you move on. This is only available after you have beaten the main plotline. You can tell if it is a 'good score' if it has a line from one of the previously beaten courses to a blank square. Lastly, the others involve wearing particular pieces of clothing when you choose that character. This also is only available after you have beaten the main plotline. You can tell these because they are a blank square with no linking lines. It will give you a clue as what to wear when you click it. In Japan, they input a code. By stating that you get them from the Spinning Dolfin I am going out on a limb... Now then, it may also be possible to unlock them another way... in the same vein as unlocking Pippin's Snow White outfit. Generic Nerve Stabilizer - Makes it easier to hit a Pangya shot for 1 turn. (~30% chance of failure). Strength Booster - Makes it possible to make a power shot without a Pangya gauge for 1 turn. Spin Mastery - Maximizes your spin skills for 1 turn. Curve Mastery - Maximizes your curve skills for 1 turn. Duostar Nerve Stabilizer (White/Yellow pills) - Makes it easier to hit a Pangya shot for 1 turn. Silent Wind - Makes wind speed 1m for 1 turn. Amnesia Flower - Cancels an O.B./W.H. and allows for a re-shot. Power Calipers - Place cursor over power gauge to view value of power. Press the A button to confirm. **~Other Posessions~** Necklace of good Fortune - Start with. Only works when you rise from Rookie Status. Simply by having it does it take effect. Pang Mastery - Spinning Dolfin - PP is doubled in single player games for one round. Simply by having it does it take effect. ~*~Supposedly~*~ I hear that the chance of getting rarer items get better the faster you spin Dolfin... but not if you spin it too fast. -JewWario (01/03/07) o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Ranks ***** As you aquire Pang in the game, you will gain rank. Here's the listing of what ranks there are (so far!) Rookie Beginner Junior Senior Amateur Senior Semi-Pro Pro National Pro World Pro Master Master still gains rank from Pang aquired... so it is unknown if there is anything past this rank as of yet. o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Secrets and Neat Things *********************** Some of the neat things in this game really make it worth playing. I’m easily amused so these are just things I liked. It is unknown as to what extent and what bonuses the PC version has transferred over to the Wii version of this game. In the PC game of PangYa, there are new items, clubs, and clothes coming out almost every week. Holidays bring even more bonuses. So far, for the Wii, there has been no unlockables for the Christmas holiday. This is understandable, as the game was just released during the holiday season and too many specials might be too soon. But there are some things for Wii owners to be happy about. For one, the course of Shining Sand is unlockable fairly early on in the story line of Uncle Bob. This course is not yet (as of this FAQ 1/1/2007) available to PC gamers in the USA! So this is a nice addition. For the caddies, the spry caddy Pippin gets an outfit that so far has not been seen in the PC version. Her Snow White outfit is unlocked when you beat the tutorial. o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Helpful Tips ************ These tips are opinions only. These are things that others have found to work. They may not work for everyone... but they're suggestions and tips that I think might help people. Super Swing golf is a pretty tough game, and any information that can help people is really important. *Check the elevation. Lots of people ignore this small but important part of the game! To get close to the hole add this to the hole's distance to your power, unless it's negative... then you subtract it. *The optimal spin rating is 7 spin. This is the maximum you can have without the ball popping over the hole on the backspin. *Don't forget to compensate for the extra distance a club gets on backspin. With the optimal spin stat, 7 spin, these will be: 1W - 3yards, 2W - 5y, 3W - 7y, and all irons, about 9y. Subtract this from the distance from the hole. *It is my personal belief that gauging wind is 60% of the battle. Really. Take time to play some non-important games and really pay attention to how the phoenixes fly in specific winds and directions. This will really be time well spent. *For every 1m of vertical wind, the effect will be about .6 tiles on the green for 1Wood, .8 for 2w, and a full 1.0 tile for 3w. For every 1m of wind horizontally (left and right), you need to adjust this many green tiles (approximately): 1W = .75 2W = .85 3W = .95 *You can use any power stat you want, however, most players tend to prefer a 240y 1W power (without powershot) and 28-29 control, to make nailing a tomahawk easier. *Calculate your power bar for the club you are using. Take the club's maximum power and divide it by 10. Each notch/small line on the powerbar is this number, 10% of the maximum power. For example, a 240y club would be 24y per notch. This means every 5% is 12y, every 2.5% is 6y, 1.25% is 3y, etc. *If your ball is on a slope, black "steps" should show around the green horizontal line. Count these steps and multiply by two. This is how many tenths of a tile you must move (count 4 steps and move .8 tiles). *The wind, when it's perfectly diagonal, is not half horizontal effect. Rather than 1/2 as some believe, it's closer to 2/3. For example, if it's 9m wind exactly diagonal, it's closer to 6-7m effect, not 4-5m. *When using swing mode, buy nerve stabilizers instead of lucky pangyas, they do the same thing (in swing mode) but stabilizers are cheaper. *Woods (club-wise). A shot done with a wood travels with a low arc and will roll a lot when the ball lands. Woods are useful to cover a large distance where accuracy on the landing isn't really important. Woods have the fastest slider on the power meter so it is not very suitable for shooting on uneven terrain (Ice, Bunker). Wood is is the least affected by wind. Players are often restricted from using Woods if the ball is on a slope with an extreme gradient. 1W normal shot = 1.1 tiles per 1 meter of horizontal wind 2W normal shot = 1.2 tiles per 1 meter of horizontal wind 3W normal shot = 1.3 tiles per 1 meter of horizontal wind *Irons (club-wise). Iron shots arcs higher than Woods but have a more predictable roll. Iron have a slower slider than the Woods making it useful for more accurate shots like approaching the green, making 'chip-in' shots, or getting out of shallow bunker. Because of the higher arc a shot travels. Wind will have more effects on Iron shots. 2 Iron tomahawk = 1.2 tiles per 1 meter of horizontal wind 3 & 4 Iron Tomahawk = 1.3 tiles per 1 meter of horizontal wind 5 & 6 Iron Tomahawk = 1.5 tiles per 1 meter of horizontal wind 7 & 8 Iron Tomahawk = 1.7 tiles per 1 meter of horizontal wind 9 Iron Tomahawk = 1.9 tiles per 1 meter of horizontal wind *Wedges (club-wise). Wedges create the highest arc in their shots. This allows player's ball to avoid tall obstacles directly in front of the ball's path. The high arc means the ball rolls the least in a shot, but is severely affected by the wind. *The difference of Pitching Wedge(PW) and Sand Wedge(SW) is that Sand Wedge has an even higher arc than the Pitching Wedge. The price of having a higher arc is less roll and has the biggest affect of wind among all the shots in game. o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Quirks To Look Out For ********************** As is with all games, there are some things to look out for that really can hinder your enjoyment of this game. *Golf Shot Camera Angles Crap. This can really be tough to get used to. Sometimes when you hit the ball, the camera will take many different angles. Sometimes it will make it so that you don't see your ball at all... even when it lands! Extreme patience here, my gentle readers. *Locking Up/Slowing Down/Frame Rates Even with the power of two Nintendo GameCubes, this is the first game that I have experienced drag at certain screens. Sometimes, if there is just too much movement/items on the screen you may experience slowing down or even locking up. I have no fix. It's a drag. Literally. *No Saving in the Middle of a Game Sad to say that when you start a game against an opponent that you must finish it to earn Pang and score it. You cannot save your game in the middle of a round. o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Japanese & PC Version Differences ********************************* The US version of Hana, Scout, and Uncle Bob are called Erica, Ken, and Daisuke in the Japanese version. Also, the Japanese version has a code that you can type in and unlock items. A real loss is the Japanese version has the ability to input Wii codes on the PC game and unlock PC items that you got on the Wii version. Then again, that's only helpful if you play the PC version too, and only set swimsuits are unlockable. For the fun of it, I have provided those codes here. The first code is the Character code, and the second is the clothing code. I also put the codes for the rare Phoenix balls as well. Now, the costumes are only available for one character. Once you input the codes then that's it and you cannot unlock for another character... so be sure you're unlocking the character's costume that you want. The balls are not the same in that you can unlock them both with no problems. Scout - RXENCKCI - EQDEHRMR Hana - AWERGITE - IFNFQHAU Uncle Bob - EZIGSTAD - JLITUSFH Cecilia - AYLNMBEC - JYNLWJBF Max - XPBGCTKM - OGHSPBTL Kooh - HPXLODCK - KHAZNPGL Arin - NINDAZMA - PNWFJESA Korobot Phoenix - TGQRIJOK Suizo Phoenix - OWEGTPDS In the Japanese game, the balls are not called 'Phoenix', but are instead called 'Aztec'. o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Super Swing Golf Websites ************************* *http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_swing_golf The Wikipedia article that I have added some information for. o------------o----------------------------------------------------------------o Legal & Thanks ************** Super Swing Golf (c) Tecmo Computer Entertainment Japan copyright Official Japanese Super Swing Golf website (there is no American site): http://www.tecmo.co.jp/product/pangya/ Japanese Wiki site (incredible amount of help): http://www23.atwiki.jp/spangya/ www.tecmoinc.com www.tecmo.co.jp.com Thanks to GameFaqs for posting this FAQ. www.gamefaqs.com Wiki-How http://www.wikihow.com/Chip-in,-in-Albatross18-(PangYa) Thanks also to the members of the GameFaqs Super Swing Golf Message Board.
