Uchuu Deka heroines' fight scenes evidently sometimes
involved panchira.)

3.1  1ST IMPRESSION

     [Ramble ON]

     This Soul Calibur 2 Cassandra FAQ is written from
scratch, and isn't based on my Soul Calibur 1 Sophitia
FAQ, which IMO became too inflexible and monolithic.

     As of 2001.12.09, the female members of the ten
known SC2 default chara are Cassandra, Ivy, Taki, Talim,
and Xianghua. But I'll not be surprised that SC2 has
hidden or time-release chara, and they include Sophitia and
Seung Mina.

     About Nemea, the namesake of Cassandra's shield.
     Nemea was a valley between the cities Kleonai and
Phlius. Killing the Lion of Nemea that terrorised the
citizens of Kleonai and Phlius was the first of
Herakles's (Roman "Hercules", USAF "C-130") 12 Great Deeds
(or Legendary Deeds) assigned by King Eurystheus of Tiryns.
The Lion was a male offspring of Echidna the serpent-woman
and Typhon the serpent-dragon under Mount Etna.
     When Herakles tracked and found the Lion, his
arrows and club were ineffective against it. (This was
before he, with Iolaus's assistance, killed the Hydra and
acquired poisoned arrows.) He eventually chased the Lion
into a cave with two openings, closed one opening, and
strangled the Lion. He skinned the Lion with its claws
(remember its skin is invulnerable to his conventional
weapons), and wore its hide as his armour and its head
as his helmet.
     Another variant of the legend does not mention a cave.
Herakles was walking to one of the cities and was attacked
by the Lion. He used his hands to break the Lion's neck.
     Herakles used the Lion's skin both as armour and as a
decorating trophy.
     Later, Zeus uploaded the Lion to the night sky as the
constellation Leo.
     (FYI, back in high school, I actually read Homer's
The Iliad and The Odyssey. Between the two, my favourite
female chara are Cassandra and Nausicaa, and my
favourite male chara are Diomedes, Odysseus, and
Sthenelus.)

     Like Sophitia in Soul Edge, and unlike the other chara
in Soul Edge and Soul Calibur, Cassandra doesn't have years
(or centuries) of combat experience or training. Blessed by
the gods, she just moves and fights naturally (or
supernaturally). Sounds like a Rentaheroine, IMO.

     Cassandra's voice actress, Takagi Reiko's recent works
include the TV anime Hikaru no Go (as Waya Yoshitaka) and
Love Hina (as Kaolla Su). I selectively watched a few
episodes of Love Hina, including #2 and #24, only because
Shinobu chan's mother's voice actress is Tsuru Hiromi sama.
     For comparison, in SE, SC1, and consumer versions of
SC2, Sophitia's voice actress is Neya Michiko.

     In SC2, as in SE and SC1, after the winner KO the
loser, while the loser's falling and before the loser lands
on the ground, the winner can humiliate the loser by
attacking the loser.
     (I usually throw the falling loser to admire Sophie and
Cassie's throws.)

     In SC2, after the winner RO the loser, the winner can
still pounce after the loser and RO herself (the winner).

     For documentary purpose, I've been understandably
watching Cassie a lot, and noticed SC2 keeps a feature WRT
modesty that was in SC1. (Yes, I'm lifeless.)
     When Cassie's knocked down, lands face-up or face-down,
and remains on the ground for a second, her thighs
automatically close.
     The other SC2 female chara also have this feature. The
male chara don't have this feature, however they land. As of
2002.07.27, I don't know whether Charade and Inferno also
have this feature? And I forgot whether the SE female chara
also have this feature?
     For comparison, the female chara in VF4 and VF4 Evo,
including Dural, also have this feature, but only when they
land face-up.
     (All right, I'll crawl back into the woodwork now.)

     Hmm... Just noticed the 2D fighting game Rage of the
Dragons, by Evoga (2002), also has a chara named Cassandra
(B81 W57 H83).

     "The enemy inevitably attacks you under one of two
conditions. One, when you're ready for them. Two, when
you're not ready for them."

     From Rev (2002.08.30):
     i'm not a cassandra player, but i do know her infinite
(which happens to be a major glitch in the game). 44[A]. her
recovery time from that move, which causes a major spin
stun, is virtually none, so she can go into another one
IMMEDIATELY. which allows you to spin stun the opponent into
oblivion. it's pretty gay, but people use it.

5.1  CASSIE COMBOS

     The following combos are arbitrarily translated or
mistranslated from Japanese SC2 Cassie fan pages.

     From the SC2 Players Guide in the Game Watch HP (2002.07.19):
     For damage, against a standing enemy, Cassie may begin
a combo with f,f+G+B Angel Papillon, then follow with a
combo.
     Against a crouching enemy who's wary of the f,f+G+B,
Cassie may begin with an df+B Airy Heaven.
     For follow-up or lunge, try d,df,f+B Angel Squash.
Against an enemy who recovers in mid-air, try A,A,B Slide
Flood.
