"Member" -Designate Skill Adjust/choose skills. -Change Equipment Change equipment, duh. -First Aid! Recover allies only. -Designate Target Appoint him/her to a certain enemy. -Assemble The member will follow Kite. -Standby Do nothing except recover. ================== Dungeons/Gott ================== In every 'keyword' in the The World, there is a dungeon that you may explore. Within the dungeon lies items, eggs, and monsters for you to slay. Keep going deeper and deeper into the dungeon to find a room with a stragne Statue behind a treasure chest. This is called a 'Gott Statue Treasure'. In that chest consists three rare items that cannot be found anywhere else (except maybe trading). However, this might not appear in some of the story missions. ================== Data Drain/Hacking ================== Kite, the leader of the party, has a bracalet that he had attained in part 1, INFECTION. It has the ability to rewrite weakened monsters into another. You may only use the Data Drain on a monster that has its 'Protect' broken. When you Data Drain a monster, you have a chance of getting a 'Data Core' that can be used to hack protected gates. With enough Cores, you may use it on the cells. Just rotate the cells and fit in the cores. If you use the Data Drain move too many times in a short period of time,\ Kite's body will get infected, and greater chance of something going wrong will happen like losing 400+ EXP! ================= Moniseur/Grandpa ================= On most of the fields (not dungeons!) lies a 'Spring of Myst', where a bubble either named 'Moniseur' or 'Grandpa' reside. Go up to it and press X to opt to throw in an equipment. If the bubble in the pond is strong enough, he will be able to upgrade it. Just choose 'Neither' to get the weapon back stronger. If he is not strong enough, he will not be able to upgrade it, but instead give you the same weapon and a Golden Axe and a Silver Axe. ================= Grunties ================= On each of the Theta and lambda servers, there is a Grunty station. Here you can feed a Grunty into its adulthood. Then it is able to trade with you and race races. The only food it is able to eat are 'eggs', found all over fields and dungeons. Read the Grunties section in the appendices for more information (if it is there... if not, consult the Grunties FAQ on GameFAQs). ================= Elements ================= Like many RPGs, opposing elements will affect more damage each other than it would damage others. The opposing elements: Thunder <---> Darkness Earth <---> Wood Fire <---> Water Also, which items you receive FROM BREAKABLE OBJECTS are also affected (some): Thunder --- Sports Drink Darkness --- Cooked Bile Wood --- Holy Sap Fire --- Burning Oil Earth --- Well Water Water --- Pure Water ================= Flashbacks (IMPORTANT!!!) ================= Throughout the game, you wil be able to visit a keyword area to witness some scenes and receive items that ONLY can found in this edition (MUTATION). Those items will be useful for a side-quest on OUTBREAK. Ther keyword: Delta Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground There are 4 scenes altogether, but they will only appear once you've reached a certain point in the story. My suggestion: just beat the game and go there four times to get them all. Simple. The items? M: Wavemaster M: Twin Blade M: Heavy Axeman M: Long Arm and some Silver and Golden Grunties. ============================================================================== .---. .---. / \ ------------------------------- / \ | D O T | II. .hack//MUTATION Walkthrough | D O T | \ / ------------------------------- \ / '---' '---' ============================================================================== LEGEND OF MY MAPS (WHOO!) ------------------------- D --- Downstairs U --- Upstairs B --- Battle Sphere (Actual name: Field Portal) E --- Egg C --- Chest G --- Gott Statue Chest That's it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Starting the Game ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hello and welcome to my .hack//MUTATION FAQ/Walkthrough. Too lazy to solve these dungeons all by yourself? No worries, buddy. Here I am! If you had a Data Flag on your memory file, just select the 'Convert' option on the Main Menu and viola! You get to re-witness some scenes from INFECTION (yay?) and transfer your data from Part 1 to Part 2. Abslotely NO items or the like are lost in the transfer, it's like you're moving from disc 1 to disc 2 in a Final Fantasy game. IF YOU HAD A DATA FLAG AND CONVERTED ------------------------------------ -EVERYTHING is back! Your levels, items, equipment, key items, Ryu Books, EVERYTHING! -BlackRose and one other person (the one who you took along when you beat Skeith, the final boss of Part 1) will e-mail you. Select the answer that sounds the most 'positively' to you. The answer to BlackRose should be 'I hope so'. IF YOU STARTED A BRAND NEW GAME... ---------------------------------- -Still on the same story progress if you did convert from part 1 -No luxury of having rare items or upgraded items/equip from part 1 -Also, no wallpaper or music or video extras from Ryu Books will be here. Too bad. -Start off at Level 30, with Mia and BlackRose also at 30. All other characters are at Level 25, however. -You will not have some of the characters, namely Gardenia and Sanjuro -You will only have BlackRose e-mail you at first. Answer back with the first option to make her happiness level go up. -And yes, you still can use this walkthrough to determine your progress because the story and the progress will not change whether if you converted or not. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THETA Server - Dun Loireag ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Before going into 'The World', check your e-mail for 3 new e-mails; the board for some stuff (none really important, though); and, of course, the News. BlackRose will greet you immediately after you arrive in the Theta Server and commands you like a slave that you go to 'Chosen Hopeless Nothingness', the place where you went and fought Skeith in the conclusion of INFECTION. Buy items, power up, get new equip, trade, go poop in the bathroom, whatever before embarking on your journey. *It is a good idea if you try to get the SHIROGANE from BlackRose by trading because it is a good level 15 weapon for Kite. If you have some Broad Swords in your inventory, try to trade them to her for that item. Take BlackRose with you and go into the Nothingness! WAAAAAAAAAAH! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Story Mission #1: Back to INFECTION! Theta Chosen Hopeless Nothingness (Lv. 28 - Earth) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Enemies: Cursed Blades; Metal Goblin; Mantis Clear the field just to get know the game (again if you played the first one). The field isn't too terribly difficult, composed mostly by Mantis and Cursed Blades and a healthy dose of Metal Goblins. ========== B1F ___ ========== | | | | _ _ | | ___ | D | | | |CCC| |___| |___| |___| | _|_ | --- |E | --- |C | | | | | | '----. ---- ---- .----' | |________|-| |-|C_______| ---- ---- | | |_ _| | --- | | |_U_| ========== B2F ========== _ _ | D | |___| _|_ | | | | --- -- ---- ---- -- --- | |-| |-| |-|C |-|C | --- -- ---- ---- -- --- | | | | --- |_ _| --- | -- | | -- |__ | --- |__ | | | | | | | | | |_U_| | | __| | __| | |C____| |E____| ========== B3F ========== __ |C | _____ _____ ___ |C |-|___ | | ___|-|___D |C_| | | | | |E| | | | | | | |C| | |___ _____-_____ ___| | | ___|-|_____ _____|-|___ | | | - | | | | | | | | _____|_____ ___________ --------- | | | || ___ | | E |_| C || | C | | | | | || | | | | E | | || | ----------- ----------- --------- _|_ | | |_U_| ========== B4F ========== D | | | --------- --------- | C | __________ | C | | |_| |_| | | | |__________| | | | C | | C | --------- --------- | | --------- --------- | C | __________ | | | |_| |_| | | | |_C________| | | | | | | --------- --------- | --------- | | -- ---------- | | |U |-|E |-| | -- ---------- | | --------- ========== Summary ========== This old place has absolutely NO enemies here... Just clear the dungeons of the treasures chests. After the every floor, there will be a scene between Kite and BlackRose, mostly about the lack of monsters (BlackRose, you FINALLY realized it?). When you finally reach B5F (and after a mildly humorous episode), Balmung will confront you and spark up with you two. Continue on only to find it's a dead end. -------------------------- THETA Server - Dun Loireag -------------------------- Back at the town, a Shop Keeper will confront you about your 'Book of Law' that you won earlier, in the INFECTION edition. He will replace the defect Book with a new one, the Book of Absolute. Ok... :/ *NEW MAIL! -Aura will e-mail you with garbled message once again (god dammit, she can FLY around yet she can't send a message properly? I don't care if she's a God!). It is no importance, really (as always). -An anonymous letter will inform you of your next destination: Theta Soaring Sky Bounded Abyss. Go there now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Theta Soaring Sky Bounded Abyss (Lv. 13 - Wood) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unfortuantely, you cannot bring any friends with you. Fortunately, you won't have to battle anyone. All you will do here is to witness a KILLER cutscene. Lios, the System Adminisator, will come forth and trap Kite and BlackRose, who also fell for the trap. Lios explains that they are violating their code of ethics and they must be eliminated. No... HELBA TO THE RESCUE! Yay. Watch as Helba soften things up. -------------------------- THETA Server - Dun Loireag -------------------------- Log Out as usual to find a new News message (Bigfoot? Who the **** cares!) and... *NEW MAIL! -Lios will inform you of his approval for you to proceed to a new server: Lambda. Whoo! -Other characters, depending on their love toward you, will send you some e-mails. Log in, leave Dun Loireag, the Theta Town, for its Lambda counterpart, Carmina Gadelica. -------------------------------- LAMBDA Server - Carmina Gadelica -------------------------------- Look around for some new characters to trade and look in the shops for some new items. Go over to the Weapon Shop to meet Lios, the Head of the System. he will explain to you that you have to 'survey' the protected areas. He will grant you the P Virus Core. Afterwards, just log off. *NEW MAIL! -Helba will send you an e-mail explaining what cores you will receive if you Data Drain monsters above Lv. 30 in Lambda Servers. -Gardenia will invite you to Lambda Quiet Oblivious Cabbage. *NEW KEYWORDS! -Read the new messages on the board for these new keywords: Lambda Dolorous Evil Eyed Widow Lambda Detestable Vengeful Sunny Demon (Golbin Challenge) Lambda Lightless Distant Dead Lands Lambda Collapsed Pagan Remains Try to do the Goblin Challenge first. Now, Elk and Mia will confront you about Lambda Dolorous Evil Eyed Widow. Let's do that first! Invite Elk and Mia into your party and prepare for battle! *NOTE: You may go ahead and do the story dungeon with Gardenia, Lambda Quiet Oblivious Cabbage before doing any of the keywords you got off the board, but I recommend doing these 'side-quests' first. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Story Mission #2: Elk and Mia's Quest Lambda Dolorous Evil Eyed Widow (Lv. 30 - Water) (Hack - 1 P) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monsters: Mu Guardian; Tetra Armor; Red Scissors; Phoenix Queen; Mystery Rock Hack the Protected Gate with a P core. The field consists of Mu Guardian, Tetra Armor, and Red Scissors, which are a fairly tough trio if you're not experienced enough. Mu Guardian likes magic so watch out for them. Tetra Armor and Red Scissors are physical attackers... ========== B1F ========== _ ___ | | _E_ | C | |B| | | | | | | | | --- |_| --- _|_ | _|_ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | --- --- |_| --- --- | | B |-| | _|_ |E |-| B | | --- --- | | --- --- | | | | | | | | | | E| --- ---- ---- --- | | |___| |C |-| B |-| C| |___| | --- ---- ---- --- | --- | | --- |CCC| |_ _| | C | |_D_| | |___| --- | | |_U_| ========== B2F ========== |D| |_| | _U_ | | ___ | | | | |CCE| |CCC| | | | | --- |_| --- | _|_ | --------- | | --------- | C | ____| |____ | | | B |_| C |_| | | | |______B______| | | | C | | | --------- --------- ========== B3F ========== Just grab the items and head up the corridor for a Boss Fight. ========== Summary ========== Elk here is REALLY useless. He won't attack nor cast magic except to heal. Mia is a sub-par attacker, so all you've got is you. Just hack, hack, hack and call for healing when the time comes. There's only two floors or this pain so don't grieve. No Gott Statue for your efforts, however. Ugh. Come back and take it if you want. ========== Boss ========== Data Bug - Mu Guardian If you played Infection, you would know what to do. He's just a regular Data Bug. Hack him down and when you see his Protect Break, Data Drain him RIGHT AWAY! You will receive the Virus Core M. Then kill the remains that come afterwards. Watch the scene and you will automatically return to town. No Gott Statue for you, sorry! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Side Mission #1: Nuke's Invitation Lambda Lightless Distant Dead Lands (Lv. 30 - Fire) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monsters: Tetra Armor; Mu Guardian; Mystery Rock; Phoenix Queen Kite must go here alone, since he was 'privately' invited by some loser named Nuke Urrrrrghh. Let's go. Don't bother clearing the field since you're alone unless you want to feel some pain in your ass. Mu Guardian conjures plenty of magic and you will suffer. :) ========== B1F ========== -D- --- --- | | |C C| | C | --- --- --- | _|_ | ------------- | | ------------- | | |C | | C | --- | | ---- ---- | | --- | C |-| B |-| B |-| B |-| C| --- | | ---- ---- | | --- | E | | | | C | ------------- |_ _| ------------- | ------------- | | | | | | | | | | ------------- | --- | | |_U_| ========== B2F ========== -D- | | ------------- --- ------------- | | | | | | C | ------------- | C | | B | | | | B | | | | | | | | B | | | | B | ------------- | | ------------- | | | | --- --- ------------- --- --- |E |-| C| __|__ | |-| | --- --- | | --- --- | | C| | ------------- |_____| ------------- | | __|__ | | | | | | | | | B |-| |-| B | | | |__C__| | | | C | | | ------------- ------------- | | --- --- | | | C | |_U_| |___| ========== B3F ========== ------------- | | | | | boss | | | | | ------------- | --- --- |C |-| E| --- --- | --- --- --- | |-| |-|C C| --- -C- --- | --- --- --- |C |-|E |-| C| --- --- --- | --- | | -U- ========== Summary ========== In the first room of B1F, you will see the scam uncover. After a lame attempt at humor, Nuke is amazed to see you still there. Go after him to B3F. The monsters here aren't too tough, but since you're all alone, you might want to bypass the items and that crap for now and head straight for the stairs. The Mystery Rock has the ability to cast "regen", if you're familiar with Final Fantasy's spell. If the monster is affected by Regen, it would gradually increase its lost HP so attack FAST to offset the increase! Also, Data Draining a weakened monster is an excellent idea to cut down on the time required to kill it so you can focus on the others. On B2F, you will see a silent Moonstone just prior the stairs to B3F. It's not exciting, but it is important later on. B3F is just treasure galore! Highway robbery! Take them all and enter the big room for the final battle with the egomaniac, Nuke. ========== Boss ========== Pumpkin King (1610 HP) Nuke will be here, so you would have some aid with you. Still, you will have to heal yourself up. Don't worry about Nuke, he's a good distraction for the boss. He is vulernable to Thunder Coil, but his evasion rate is very high. To solve that, donate a Hunter Blood to yourself and Thunder Coil away. If you don't have it, just hack and slash. Without a Hunter Blood would take a long time... After the battle, you will have Nuke's member address. Cheers! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Side Mission #2: Trading? Lambda Collapsed Pagan Remains (Lv. 32 - Earth) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monsters: Smiley Ray (new one!); Death Crane; Hysteria; Bone Army; Specter; Grand Cold Gott Statue: Love Archery; Yellow Candy; Silver Scarab This time, you may bring up to two friends with you. So, I believe that it is a good idea if you would clear the field for some experience. Also, Data Drain new enemies for some Cores. ========== B1F ========== --- -D- --- | C | | | |CEC| --- --- --- | | | --- --- --- | C| |C |-| C| ------------- --- --- --- ------------- | C | | | | C | | | --- --- --- | | | B B |-| C |-| E |-| C |-| B B | | | --- --- --- | | | C | | | C | ------------- ------------- ------------- | | | | | | | | | | ------------- | --- | | |_U_| ========== B2F ========== -D- | | --- | --- | | | | | | | | | | ------------- --- ------------- | C | | | | | | --- --- --- | E | | B B |-| C | |C |-| C |-| B B | | | --- --- --- | | | C | | | | | ------------- --- --- --- ------------- |E |-| |-| C| --- --- --- | --- | | |_U_| ========== B3F ========== --- | C | | | | B | --- _|_ ------------- |E | | E | | | | | ---- ---- --- | B B |-| B |-| G| | | ---- ---- --- | C | | | ------------- |_ _| | ------------- | C | | | | B | | | | C | ------------- | --- | | |_U_| ========== Summary ========== What a scam. Kite gets to be a slave for some stupid trading folks. To fulfill their wishes, you have to go down to B3F and retrieve an item and give it to the party. The enemies here are really easy, composed mostly (if not all) by Bone Army. With powerful allies, you should be able to mow them down. The floors has a LOT of chests with little challenge. Enjoy. :) (Moonstone will appear here again on B2F) After obtaining the Love Archery, you have to give it to the proper person who wants and take their trade offer and give the new tiem to the next person and so forth. When all traders are gone, Rachel will thank you and give you her Member Address! Congrats! -------------------------------- LAMBDA Server - Carmina Gadelica -------------------------------- After you've done the 'side-quests' and obtained two new Member Addresses, time for you to continue on the path of the storyline! Re-stock your healing items, sell some worthless crap, save, check mail and boards, or whatever you want. *NEW KEYWORDS: (If you did at least one of the side-quests) -Head for the Boards for these Keywords: Lambda Detestable Vengeful Messenger (Goblin Challenge) Lambda Nameless Seeker's Prairie Do the Goblin Challenge if you wish. Invite Gardenia and head into the field. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Side Mission #3: Gardenia's Dungeon Lambda Quiet Oblivious Cabbage (Lv. 35 - Fire) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monsters: Armor Evil; Specter; Skate Rat Ark; Green Wyrm; IronBall Mania; Hackberry King Gott Statue: Saint Cross; Yellow Candy; Ivory Barette; Clearing the field is recommended since you got 3 people alongside you. You better have a LOT of Healing Potions and Resurrects, too. ========== B1F ========== --- -D- | C | | | --- --- --- | | | | ------------- --- ------------- | | | | | | C | --- --- --- | | | B |-| C |-|C |-|E |-| B | | | --- --- --- | | | E | | | C | ------------- --- ------------- |C | | | | B | | | | | --- | --- | | |_U_| ========== B2F ========== -D- | | --- | --- | | | | --- | | --- |C E| | | | C| --- | | --- | | | | --- --- --- | C| _|_ | E| --- |C | --- | | | | --- ---- ---- --- |E |-| B |-| E| --- ---- ---- --- | | |_ _| | --- | | |_U_| ========== B3F ========== --- | b | | o | | s | | s | | | --- | --- | | | |____ ____ | |_| G | B ____| |____G | C| | | --- | --- |C | | | | B | | | | | --- | --- | | |_U_| ========== Summary ========== Gardenia ain't exactly GOD. She can be annoying because she runs out of SP easily and when this happens, she won't heal you unless you're DEAD. :( So, heal yourself up often. Try to bypass as many battles as you can because Specters and Armor Evils makes the battles tough for you and Gardenia. Data Drain is good, too. (Moonstone appears here yet again, on B2F) Go to the Gott Statue BEFORE going into the final room in the north part of B3F if you want the goodies. After defeating the boss, watch as Gardenia display a bit of disappointment of hers. *shrug* Too bad. ========== Boss ========== Skate Rat Ark (1450 HP) WAY over-hyped. Gardenia said that the monsters (notice she said monsterS?). Really, it's only one and it's easy! Just hack away and it'll be gone before you know it. 1450 HP goes away quite quickly with 3 people slapping at it at once. -------------------------------- LAMBDA Server - Carmina Gadelica -------------------------------- Log out to find an e-mail from none other than the mysterious Moonstone inviting you to a dungeon, assuming you met him in 3 different places (the places are the dungeons right above). The Keyword is: Lambda Bottomless Guffawing Raw Ore Now you may either do the story mission you still have to do (Lambda Nameless Seeker's Prairie) or do the Moonstone invitation. You can do the other after the completion of one of those, anyway. (Also, you receive Moonstone's member address in the e-mail.) I chose to do the Moonstone dungeon just... because. I don't know. :p If you want to do the other dungeon, then please do skip this section to find the one you want (Lambda Nameless Seeker's Prairie). Re-stock, sell, trade, the whole 9 yards... and invite Moonstone and one more friend... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Side Mission #4: Moonstone, At Last! Lambda Bottomless Guffawing Raw Ore (Lv. 35 - Fire) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monsters: Armor Evil; Skate Rat Ark; IronBall Mania; Hysteria; Valkyrie Gott Statue: Bouncer Gloves; Silver Scarab; Ivory Barette Take advantage of the easily-detected Spring of Myst just right next to the entrance to the dungeon. Throw in your most-used weapon and viola! You get stronger just like that! *You better hope you don't get stuck in a room full with Armor Evils... I once got 4 Armor Evils in one room and they just picked us apart. :( If you use The Hanged Man to paralyze them, you should be fine. *Because of the Armor Evils, you should bring Piros along with you since he hits the hardest and he is quick about it, too. *Also use Knight Bloods, Warrior Bloods, and Hunter Bloods to make the battles easier and quicker. *MUST KILL ALL ENEMIES! ========== B1F ========== ------------- -D- | | | | | B | | | | | | | | B C | ------------- | | | | | C | | | ------------- | B | --- | | | | --- | B | --- | E| | | | C| --- ------------- --- | _|_ | ------------- | | ------------- | | |C | | C | | | ---- ---- | | | B |-| B |-| B | | | ---- ---- | | | C | | | | E | ------------- |_ _| ------------- | --- | | |_U_| ========== B2F ========== --- | E | | | | | | B | | | | | | | --- | --- --- --- D |-| C |-| C | --- --- --- | --- | | | | | | | | | | -U- ========== B3F ========== ------------- | | | | | | | | | | ------------- | --- | E| ------------- --- | | | | C | --- --- --- ---- | B B |-| C |-| E |-|E |-| G| | | --- --- --- ---- | | | ------------- ------------- | | | | --- | B |-| U | | --- | | ------------- ========== Summary ========== It might be a good idea if you could clear the FIELD if you're having trouble with the dungeon. Clearing the field would give Moonstone the experience he needs to get stronger. Just clear the dungeon. B1F is the toughest, so if you successfully clear the floor, you should be able to beat the entire thing (only 3 battles left). Armor Evils are a pain the ass, but if you use The Hanged Man, you will be able to paralyze them. Don't forget to collect the prizes in the Gott Statue BEFORE you defeat the last enemy because you will be back in town once you beat the last enemy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Story Mission #3: Protected Area from the Boards... Lambda Nameless Seeker's Prairie (Lv. 32 - Wood) (Hack - 2 B) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Enemies: Death Crane; Phalanx; Smiley Ray; Great Sled Dog Bring anyone with you and clear the field (one of the easiest fields you will see in this entire game). Lalalala. Don't forget the B cores to hack the gate! No over-powering enemies... Unfortunately, you cannot get the 'All Dungeon Portals Clear' nor the Gott Statue here since you will get out after the Boss Battle. :( ========== Boss ========== After seeing a lone man getting shafted by a Scorpion... Data Bug - Scorpiod (3250 HP after Data Break) Yawn. Doesn't .hack ever gant us any hard bosses? Bah. Just don on a Warrior Blood to increase your Attack. Guess what? You get to attack some more. Don't forget to Data Drain and you still got 3250 HP Left. You also get the Virus Core N for Data Draining this boss. -------------------------------- LAMBDA Server - Carmina Gadelica -------------------------------- Back at the town, go over to your mail to find a new e-mail from Lios about your status report on the Protected Area... When you're in the Lambda Root Town once again, Lios will pry the status report out of you right away. Report and there will be a new mail in your mailbox. Go back once again. *NEW E-MAIL -BlackRose will be complaining about Lios' apparent rule over you and her -Lios will give you your next Keyword: Lambda Resurrecting Confused Judgement. Go back to town and BlackRose will give you a gift from Lios: Virus Core M. Yay! Time to re-stock, save, blah, blah and invite BlackRose and one other character for the next dungeon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Story Mission #4: Investigate! Lambda Resurrecting Confused Judgement (Lv. 34 - Fire) (Hack - 2 M; 1 D; 1 E) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monsters: Hackberry King; Metal Eraser; Hysteria; Specter; Skate Rat Ark; Green Wyrm You need a lot to hack... You already have the M Cores, but the D and E Cores are the ones you have to earn yourself. E Cores are found in larger enemies such as Skate Rat Ark and Armor Evil. As for D Cores, just prey on smaller enemies like Valkyrie, Hysteria, and Death Cranes. ========== B1F ========== --- --- -D- | C | | C | |CCC| --- --- --- | | | --- --- --- | E|-| C |-|C | --- --- --- | ------------- | | | | | | | | | | ------------- | --- | | |_U_| ========== B2F ========== -D- | | --- | ------------- | C | --------- | | --------- | B |-| B |-| B | | ----- | | ----- | | | | | | | | | ------------- | C| --- --- | | ------------- ------------- | C | | C | | | --------------- | | | B |-| C B |-| B | | | ----- ----- | | | E | | | | C | ------------- | | ------------- --- | ------------- | | | | | | | | | | ------------- | --- | | |_U_| ========== B3F ========== Boss | --- | | --- | ------------- ------------- | C | | C | --- | | | | |C |-| B | | B | --- | | | | | | C | | C | --- ------------- ------------- |CCC| | | -U- --- --- |C | | | | | | | | ----- ----- | | B |-| C B | --------- --------- ========== Summary ========== The field here takes it up a notch. If you find yourself trapped in the midst of a Hackberry King/Metal Eraser party, go away before you're too drunk. There will be a scene involving some weird board with a figure on it on B1F and B2F. I recommend you to try to get all Portals Open because there's no more Portals after the boss so it is viable that you get the 'All Portals Open' mark. The Skate Rat Ark/Specter combo can be deadly, but I recommend turning on the 'Operation Union Battle' to make things a bit more easier. Take down the Arks first. If there are two Arks up, cast Data Drain on the first one because the other will will probably revive the fallen ones. Good luck on the boss, on the final room of B3F! ========== Boss ========== Phase 2: Innis - The Mirage of Deceit (After Data Drain - 3000 HP) Boy, is this one tough. This guy just won't go away... Have one of your characters back away and Heal (use the 'First Aid! command for the INDIVIDUAL), preferably you or a Wavemaster, if you have one in your party. If you have a LOT of Resurrects, you should be okay. Anyway, put your guys in 'Attack!' mode and let the healer or you back away. Like I said, this guy takes an awfully long time before it gets into 'Protect Break' mode. Either way, keep hacking or healing. If you have some Warrior and Knight Bloods, this is the time to use it on your characters. Magic or Skills won't do you any good here. His defense is pretty vulernable, however. 3000 HP is all that remains after the Data Drain. His attacks is varied, but nothing death-defying as long you keep the HP up. When Innis goes up, BACK AWAY! He will go down and crush those near. Other attacks you cannot avoid. As for the status effects, either you heal them or call your party to do it (First Aid!). Tha's it. Good luck once again. You receive 'Segment 1' for Data Draining him. You return to town automatically, of course. -------------------------------- LAMBDA Server - Carmina Gadelica -------------------------------- ***IMPORTANT! If you want to get some prizes in Grunty Racing, this is the best time to do so because there's absolutely NO people here to interfere in your way! w00t! Once you leave the town, however, the people will re-appear. You sudenly notice that there's NO people in town! Lios blames you for the 'System Shutdown'. Whatever... We didn't do anything... right? >_> He also orders you to stay there. Blow him off and re-stock, sell, and log out. *NEW MAIL! -BlackRose will e-mail you, along with the buddy who you took with you in the previous dungeon. -Aura, the mysterious female, will ask a request to you: she wants you to go to the dungeon of 'Lambda Merciless Grieving Furance'. Yay. Back in town, you won't find Lios yelling at you (yay!) but instead... Mistral the sucky Wavemaster will force herself into your party for the next dungeon. :( Better restock and save! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Story Mission #5: Aura's Email - Cubia Core Lambda Merciless Grieving Furance (Lv. 35 - Fire) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monsters: Hackberry King; Armor Evil; Valkyrie; IronBall Mania; VooDoo Goblin *IMPORTANT! - Bring Moonstone with you if you want to have an easier time defeating the boss here. Also, MAGE SOULS and RESURRECTS are a must here, bring at least 25 of each to here! ========== B1F ========== --- | | | | | B | | | | | | | --- | ----------- | _____ | --- __ __ | | | | __ __ --- |C |-| | | |-| | | |-| | | |-| C | --- | C|____| | | |_____| | | |_____| | --- | |__________| | C | |___________| --- | ----------- | -D- | C | --- | --- |C C| --- | | --- | C| --- | | | | | | | --- ---- | |_U_| | ---- --- | C |-| C B | | B |-| C| --- -------- -------- --- ========== B2F ========== -D- | | | | --- _|_ --- | | --- | C | | | | | | | --- ---- ---- --- | B | | B | | C |-| B |-|ECC| | | | | --- ---- ---- --- | | --- | | --- | |_ _| | ,--- | ---, \ \ ------------- / / \ \ | | / / \ -- --- | | --- -- / \ |-| E |-| |-| |-| / '-- --- | | --- --, | | ------------- | --- | | |_U_| ========== B3F ========== No battles or anything, just so straight north thrice to face your next boss. ========== Summary ========== Mistral might be a weak attacker, but she can heal you up really good and she heals quick. However, don't over-use her or her Resurrects might run out. Hackberry and Armor Evils are pretty annoying in the field, especially with one attacker down (Mistral). You can't over-power them, you only can out-last them instead. As for the dungeon... still pretty easy. Armor Evils are gone here, but HackBerry King are back. If you're sick of the Healing power of the Hackberry Kings, just hack them down until their protect barrier is broken and Data Drain them. Don't forget to heal and strengthen your party up before entering the boss room. ========== Boss ========== Cubia Core (5000 HP) This one is even tougher. The 'Core' is the biggest one floating around, and to damage it, you have to use Magic or Attacks. If it says 'Physical Tolernate', then that means you HAVE to use Magic or your attacks will be void. When it's Magic Tolernate, then use Attacks. 5000 HP is a long way this way. The Core will also release some extra cores, but don't worry about them, just concentrate on the Core itself since they regenerates anyway. PHYSICAL TOLERABLE ------------------ Have Mistral and Moonstone (or whoever) cast Magic while you heal them when they get injured. Keep a CLOSE eye on their HP! When their SP goes low, give them a Mage Soul to get them ready and raging. You may cast a few Magic Spells while you're at it to help out, too. That is recommended. MAGIC TOLERABLE --------------- Have Mistral Heal the other two instead. You and the other guy should be hacking away at the Core. Donning on a Warrior Blood is a fanstatic idea, too. Attack Skills is okay, but I just prefer to attack manually. Mistral won't heal you two up every time, so keep an eye on the party's HP too. SWITCHING --------- When do the boss switch from one mode to another? After the Core goes inside Cubia and releases an attack that covers the entire field. Then the Core will revert to the other Tolerable. After the battle, you earn an audience with Helba. Yay. -------------------------------- LAMBDA Server - Carmina Gadelica -------------------------------- Log out to find several new emails. Temple Knight is kinda like Mu Guardian, but less annoying. Everything else should be familiar. All of them require little strategy, just over-power them with Attacks and Skills. However, more healing is required here since these guys hit hard. On B3F, you will face the Data Bug version of a Dalagion for the ownership of Spark Sword. After defeating him, you will teleport back. :( ========== Boss ========== Data Bug - Dalagion (3570 HP after Data Drain) If you have a Wavemaster, tell him/her to stay back with the "First Aid!" command. If not, just sneak behind him and hack away. That way, he can't hurt all of you at once. Even if you die, there's two other guys ready to revive you back. If the other guys dies on the other side, you can revive them up. Just keep their HP up. :) Attack with Skills, etc. You know. Data Drain once the Protect breaks down. Then his power will be halved, allowing for an easy kill. You also receive Data Core O for winning. *NOTE: Dalagion as a Data Bug has a deadly flamethrower magic, capable of 900+ damage, a certain death for Kite under level 45. There are a lot of goodies that can help you in your quest through the final dungeon so pick all of them up. Good luck, mate. Don't forget the Gott Statue! After going into the final room, you will witness a fanstatic scene (FINALLY!) with an unknown soldier and Lios. You also learn a new keyword: Lambda Pulsating Worst Core Onward! -------------------------------- LAMBDA Server - Carmina Gadelica -------------------------------- Balmung, bluntly, gives you Virus Core Q for your next dungeon. Now, this is the moment of truth. Sell everything you don't need to raise money so you can buy a LOT of Healing Potions and Resurrects. Also buy/trade for the BEST armor (you should already have the best weapon - Blades of Bond) for the final trek. Also, it might be a good idea to level up to Lv. 50 before starting the dungeon, just to be safe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Story Mission #12: Net Slum - The Final Battle of MUTATION! Lambda Pulsating Worst Core (Lv. 48 - Fire) (Hack - 1 O, 3 F, 3 E, 1 Q) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monsters: Mad Witch; Harpy Queen; Squidbod; Easter Rock; Prince Ark; Dalagion Anecodit *Bring BlackRose and a WaveMaster so you have someone who can cure throughout the dungeon. However, you will understand that it would be harder to decimate the monsters on the way since a Wavemaster does not attack. Magic is useful, though. I recommend Elk. *For some Data Cores, go to the DUNGEON of Lambda Blooming Promised Walkway for some D and F cores. Go on the field for some E Cores (Knights), if you need some. ========== B1F ========== Just follow the code that BlackRose repeats: East; North; South; West; North. Looks like you HAVE to bring a Wavemaster because the monster Squidbot NULLS ALL PHYSICAL ATTACKS! So, just bring Elk and say 'Magic!' and he will release all of his wrath upon them. He does WONDERS in this dungeon. Just say Magic! after every spell he does. Just keep him alive and regenerate his SP if he dies with Mage's Soul. He will destroy all of the enemies for you, provided if you could help him. Easter Rock heals each other by 400 HP, so attack quick and call for Elk's or whoever's Magic. BlackRose won't do any Magic so she's just a puppet here, I guess. When she dies, just leave her there until all of the monsters in the room are destroyed to save your Resurrects because she would probably die again in the same room. Also, after every battle, wait in the same room for a while to allow your magic user re-charge his/her SP. B5F reaches your final boss... Remember the purple bubbles... :) Let your party heal its own SP with time, and heal your party's HP, but don't bother powering your party up until when the actual battle starts. ========== Net Slum ========== After a scene, talk to every weird guy to ignite yet another scene, this time a cooler one. Watch as Lios, Helba, and Balmung argue with each other. It won't be long before you finally face the boss. ========== Boss ========== Magus - The Propagation (4500 HP after Data Drain) The first part of the boss (before Data Draining) isn't too hard, it's actually one of the easiest of all 'Parts'. Magus will go around in circles slowly, dropping off leaves. The leaves will have a timer above it and if it goes to zero it explodes, killing every member. The timer starts at 15 so you have plenty of time. Concentrate on killing the leaves then you can attack the body of the boss before he makes new leaves. Magus's attacks: -Going sky-high and pummeling down, causing a shockwave. Easily avoided, just back away when you see him go up. -Data Drain and Magic spells are impossible to stop, but as long you keep your party healthy, you should be alright. Let your party attack Magus while you concentrate on the healing and the leaves. When the boss finally gets unprotected, Data Drain him. He will have 4500 Hp left thereafter. He won't drop any more leaves, but he will have a new attack (trees coing at one person) and will be more aggressive with his pummel attack. My suggestion: let your allies beat him down while you heal. I think it is a good idea if you try to help them attack the boss ONLY if the party's HP is at max. 4500 ain't too long or too short... Good luck! Enjoy the game and don't forget to save after the credits! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Aftermath ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ At your desktop, you will see two new e-mails from Bandai. One will award you the 'bonus dungeon' to fondle with. Another one is about data flag. Read both. The new keyword: Theta Bitter Fantasy Mirror World Now, let's check the boards! Wiseman is an excellent choice. Have him obliberate House Golems, which are Physical Resistance. King Worm are Magic Resistance so you will have to kill it with one other guy. All of the remaining monsters: use the combo of the magic and your power. Ta-da. Every battle will only have one monster, so it's pretty easy, actually. Get ready for a boss battle! ========== Boss ========== Angolmore (9999 HP) If you have a Wavemaster, he will be a breeze. Have you and the other physical attacker go at him while the Wavemaster cast spells. The other guy should be like a 'duck' for the boss to pick on while you sneak behind him and damage him. Angolmore's attacks are very powerful, but with a Wavemaster so far away, he won't be able to have all 3 dead simulateously. Just wait until the A-man attacks the guy and sneak behind him, and when he's done atatcking the corpse, back off and revive the fallen comrade, wait for him to attack him/her again, and repeat. If you get in trouble, just ask the Wavemaster to heal you. Data Drain him for a Crimson Raid. You will get Lucky Shoes for winning. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 'Now What?' ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -Have you defeated all of the Goblins yet? -Try to get all of the extras from the Ryu Books! -Get all of the characters to 500 in affection (look in the Ryu Book V for the affection level) -Go to Delta Hidden Forbiddon Holy Ground for some flashbacks and some neat extras such as M:Wavemaster, M:TwinBlade, M:HeavyAxeman, and M:LongArm. -Go buy .hack//OUTBREAK, you fool! ============================================================================== .---. .---. / \ ------------------------------- / \ | D O T | III. Goblin Challenges | D O T | \ / ------------------------------- \ / '---' '---' ============================================================================== Goblin Challenges #1-#5 are in .hack//INFECTION (part 1) Goblin Challenge #6 - Lambda Detestable Vengeful Sunny Demon - Stehoney R ------------------------------------------------------------------------- First, try to do the Goblin Challenge. To defeat him, just use a Speed Charm, if you have one, and try to get close to him by predicting where he'll go next. Once you two are close to each other, go to the Menu quickly! Select a powerful Move and hack away. It only took me 2 Thunder Coils before he was defeated. GOBLIN CAP A is yours now! Goblin Challenge #7 - Lambda Detestable Vengeful Messenger - Jonue R -------------------------------------------------------------------- This one is actually pretty hard. I had a hard time with this one. I had to do an attack spell SEVEN times before I was able to track him down because he moved so fast that my attcks just missed. You have to be REALLY close to him or your attacks won't work. Alternately, you could use your Magic Scrolls to chisel his HP down a few by a few. I've read around the boards that there is a scroll that would make it really easy, but I forgot which one it was, sorry. Spank me, please, mommy. :( But if you do know, please do tell me, mommy. :) You get the GOBLIN MAIL A for winning. Goblin Challenge #8 - Lambda Detestable Vengeful Scent - Zyan R --------------------------------------------------------------- Zyan R is mostly immune to magic, so rely on your attack skills instead. Use a Speed Charm (gotten from trading) if you have one. Try to get him really, rellay close, like NEXT to you, not just in your parameter. Use a skill to damage him (use Bloods to strengthen you up). Try to trap him against some landmark. I did once, and my skill hit him like 4 times for about 500 HP, and that killed him for good. In other words, he's just like every other goblin. Same old. You receive GOBLINGLOVES A for winning. Goblin Challenge #9 - Lambda Detestable Vengeful New Truth - Albert R --------------------------------------------------------------------- Speed Charm is a must here. You can one by trading with one of your friends, like BlackRose. I find Wind spells works the best here. Green Gale works pretty effectively on this Goblin so use it or some other Wind scrolls. Attack Skills works pretty good, too, although you will usually only get one hit every attack skill. You get the GOBLIN BOOTS A for winning. Goblin Challenge #10 - Lambda Detestable Vengeful Gate - Martina R ------------------------------------------------------------------ Step #1: Buy three The Moons, and a Beast's Bane. Also get 5+ Flame Blasts. The Moon and Flame Blast can be found in the Magic Shop in Lambda. Beast's Bane - Theta Magic Shop. Step #2: Use a Beast's Bane to off-set the Goblin's Magic Tolerance. Use a The Moon to put it to sleep. Use two or three Flame Blasts to damage it before it wakes up again. Step #3: Repeat #2, only that you don't have to use Beast's Bane again. Viola! You get the IMP'S PRAISES for winning! ============================================================================== .---. .---. / \ ------------------------------- / \ | D O T | V. Raise all three (raise one, log out, log in, repeat) and race. -Use Bony Grunty to get the fastest time. -Bony Grunty will slide a bit, but use this as an advantage by turning BEFORE you even get the flag. BEFORE as in barely, not a LOT! Bony should slide back and grab the flag as it tries to get to the other way. -The turns are the most important aspect here. Try to cut the turn as quickly as possible, don't do wide turns and bump the far wall! Remember the sliding factor of Bony, too! -Do not use R2 to correct the angle unless when you're going for the 2nd flag. The camera (facing the 2nd flag- down the hall) should help you in your 2nd turn, toward the 3rd flag. This should be the only time you change the camera angle. -when you are going for the 3rd flag, STICK or stay close to the near wall, the side with the flag. That way you don't have to 'find' it, it will be on your path already. -Go straight as possible. CUT THE CORNERING! THETA GRUNTY RACING TIPS ------------------------ -Much, much tougher here. Anyway, the Grunty Shop is in the back of the town. -Yes, use the fastest Grunty here: Iron Grunty. -HUG the planks. Don't be lazy and hit the far side of the plank when turning! Minimize your time by using effective turns. -Go to the 1st flag to the north. Slide while going the other way and press R2 to adjust your screen. You should get the flag with Grunty's ass... Follow the next planks to the right. DO NOT go to the left, to the purple flag just yet! Continue to the RED flag, by the magic portal. Then do the slide thing again. Also press R2 if you want. Head for the final flag, it should be easy. -If you fail to make the time, just iron your turns and sliding to the flag. Your turns should be cutting the corner and your slides should only extent to the flag and nothing further. -Good luck! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Rank | Theta Server Race Prizes | Lambda Server Race Prizes | ----------------------------------------------------------------- 1st place | Golden Grunty and Image 51 | Golden Grunty and Image 52 | | | | 2nd place | Silver Grunty | Silver Grunty | | | | 3rd place | Divine Cross | Emperor's Soul | | | | Within 1 | Speed Charm | Fairy's Orb | sec of 3rd| | | | | | No Rank | Fortune Wire | Fortune Wire | ----------------------------------------------------------------- ============================================================================== Grunty Food ============================================================================== Food Size Body Odor Rebel Brutality Intelligence Purity Location ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cordyceps Part B: Someone's +1 +2 +2 0 +2 +4 Grunt Mints Part C: Great Seal +1 0 +4 -4 -2 -1 La Pumpkin Part C: Paradise +1 -3 -2 +3 +5 0 Mandragora Part C: Aqua Field +1 +5 0 +4 -4 -4 Mushroom Part C: Hypha +1 -4 -3 0 -3 -3 Oh No Melon Part B: Destroyer's +1 +3 +1 -1 +1 0 Piney Apple Part B: Solitary +1 0 -4 +5 +4 -2 Root Vegetable Part C: Fort Walls +1 -2 -1 +2 0 +3 Snaky Cactus Part C: Fiery Sands +1 +1 +5 -2 -1 +2 Twilight Onion Part B: Gluttonous +1 +4 +3 -3 0 +1 White Cherry Part C: White Devil +1 -1 0 +1 +3 +5 Bear Cat Egg In Dungeons +2 -1 -3 +1 +2 +3 Bloody Egg In Dungeons +2 +1 +3 0 -3 -1 Golden Egg In Dungeons +2 0 0 0 0 0 Immature Egg In Dungeons +2 -3 -1 +3 +2 +1 Invisible Egg In Dungeons +2 +3 +1 0 -1 -3 ============================================================================== .---. .---. / \ ------------------------------- / \ | D O T | VI.
