Naturally, you can move Pax with the Nunchuk's Control Stick. To jump, press the A button. The longer you hold down A, the higher Pax will jump. Lightly tapping A will result in a hop, while holding down A will result in a huge leap. While in the air, Pax can use his cap to glide through the air. To perform this move, press and hold A while airborne. You can use the cap glide ability to soar across chasms and gaps to reach far-away platforms and ledges. Press the Z button to block. When facing off against enemies, blocking is essential to surviving. When blocking, Pax will take much, much less daSage than if he were hit unprotected. You can also press C to roll; possibly to evade attacks. Alternatively, jump just after rolling to give yourself a little boost in your leap. .-------. --' Goals '------------------------------------------------------------------- Each level features a wide range of goals to complete. You can access the goals through the Goal Menu: press the 1 button. Unfinished goals will be represented by a black silhouette. Upon completing the goal, the silhouette will colored in. If you are stuck on a certain goal, check out the hint given to you by pointing the Wii Remote on the silhouette. .------------------. --' Combat (Weapons) '-------------------------------------------------------- A neat aspect of the game is that you can actually create your own weapons. Build weapons with scav - various items strewn throughout the game's levels. Once you have the desired pieces, press the 2 button to access the gear menu and pick the designated weapon to create it. There are four types of weapons in the game, with each having their special traits: Bashing - Like the name implies, weapons in the "Bashing" category are blunt objects that are used to pummel enemies into the dirt. Pax swings these weapons vertically. When using a jump attack, Pax smashes the weapon into the ground. Slashing - These weapons can slice and dice enemies like vegetables. Unlike Bashing weapons, Pax uses Slashing weapons by attacking in a horizontal motion. Pax will spin around like a buzzsaw when pulling off an aerial attack. Thrusting - Thrusting weapons are known for their long range. Again, it also has a specific attack pattern. These weapons are aimed forward when attacking, hence the name. Pax jabs forward and will also thrust forward when using a jump attack. Radical! - Radical! weapons are nothing like the other three weapon types. These weapons are very big and slow Pax down, take away his block ability, and also consume ammo. Regardless, some of the weapons in this very small category are very cool. They're often projectile weapons, such as a flamethrower. Radical! weapons are best used to target tough foes, since they dish out the most daSage. .--------------------. --' Combat (Abilities) '------------------------------------------------------ There are four abilities in all, though only three of them actually consume Spore Power (the green bar underneath the targeting reticule). To replenish your Spore Power, find spore goo. Sporekinesis - It is used to move objects, and later, throw them. Point the Wii Remote at an object for a brain to appear on the target. Press B to pick up the object as it floats in the air. Sporekinesis is primarily used to move objects, but you can also use it to attack enemies: shake the Wii Remote with an object in your possession to throw it. Will of Spores - This technique is mainly used to go from one place to another. Like Sporekinesis, it can only be used on objects covered in green spores (though Will of Spores is limited to only certain plants). Your pointer target will turn into a vine when usable. Using this ability can move plants out of the way or use them to reach previously inaccessible areas. Spore Punisher - Spore Punisher is a brutal attack aimed towards killing foes. Aim at an enemy and press B when the target turns orange: the helpless enemy will spin around before blowing up, taking anything out nearby (except you). You can only use this ability after severely damaging the enemy first - it must be spurting out green liquid/blood. The last ability does not consume Spore Power. Sticky Hand - Again, this technique, for the most part, is only used to get from one place to another. Point the Wii Remote at a designated object for the target to transform into a hand. Hit B to have a long, sticky hand latch onto the pin, dragging Pax to it as well. While stuck on the object/wall, you can press A to jump. ______________________________________________________________________________ [4] WALKTHROUGH [0400] ______________________________________________________________________________ ============================================================================== Round One [0401] ============================================================================== The game begins in a village inhabited by the mutated mushrooms. The main protagonist, Pax, is found next to the village sage. He will teach you the basic controls, so follow his commands. The sage will send you on your way after insulting your lousy weapon. Time to explore the village! Well, the first three goals are very easy to complete. There are three green and pink plastic containers on the other side of the village. Cross the bridge and break open the first one with your stick to find the razor blade. Razor Blade - Goal completed! The next plastic container is up a slope near a small house and a Bolete villager. Break it open to obtain the bubble gum. Gum - Goal completed! The third and final container isn't far. Descend the slope past the villager and whack the container up ahead to get the thimble. Thimble - Goal completed! Now that you have the three pieces of scav, return to the village sage. He will open up the Gear Menu and give you the lowdown of building weapons. It's pretty straightforward: if you have the available components, you can use them to build the weapon. You have the three scav needed to construct The Iron Thumb, so go ahead and do so. Build - Goal completed! The village sage gives Pax a new task. Before we continue with it, we should spend some time searching for items. When facing the village sage, turn around and walk through the patch of pink flowers. You'll soon find a yellow rock. A useless shiny yellow rock to be exact! Pick up the yellow rock [1/3] and cross the bridge back to where you found the scav. Proceed up the slope towards the villager's home and jump on top of the awning to find the second useless shiny yellow rock [2/3]. The third yellow rock is found just outside the home made out of the PC cola can. Collect it [3/3] and do not worry about falling in the river: Pax can swim. Return to the village sage and pass by him towards the giant mushrooms growing off of the wall. Jump up the mushrooms (remember, hold down A to jump even higher) and defeat each of the three flies here. You will win the "challenge" after killing all three. Quit Buggin' Me - Goal Completed! The sage tells Pax to break the lanterns scattered around the village. The first one is on a mushroom platform far across the wall. To reach it, you'll have to cap glide. To do so, press A while airborne to glide in the air for a short time. Jump towards the first mushroom, then press A at the peak of your jump to begin gliding. Once you reach the mushroom with the lantern on it, break it open to free the fire flies. Let There Be Light - Goal Completed! The village sage must have a different definition for "prize" than others, because he gives Pax a free fight against the toughest guy in the village: Brunt! How one can qualify for such an event by killing flies is beyond me. This is your first battle, so the game will give you a rundown to your basic combat commands. Aside from attacking, Pax can also block and evade. Press and hold Z to block enemy attacks. If you're feeling a bit more risky, you can try dodging an attack by rolling (press C). Brunt's hits pack quite a punch. Pax's health meter is symbolized by his own head. Every time Pax gets hurt, his cap will begin detiriorating as parts of his brain become exposed. In order to heal yourself in this battle, attack the glowing green plant on the side of the arena. It will release spore goo, which can heal you when collected. Block Brunt's incoming attacks, then retaliate with a three-hit combo of your own. You can also use jump attacks, which can be pulled off by swinging the Wii Remote while airborne. The fight is fairly simple if you protect yourself, as Brunt will only be able to take a couple combos. Tough Guy - Goal Completed! Once victorious, go up the ramp. Your Wii Remote will begin shaking as you approach the glowing green crystal. Pax will absorb the meteorite chunk [1/1]. Champion - Goal Completed! The village sage is shocked at the disappearance of the meteor, but Pax vows to find another one to return to the town. Continue through the cave to complete the chapter. .------------. --' Nice Work! '-------------------------------------------------------------- 1/1 meteor chunks 3/3 collectables Total: 1/81 meteor chunks 3/38 collectables ============================================================================== Dial "M" for Morel [0402] ============================================================================== You will learn about snailboxes when you approach the snail shell. Give it a good whack to wake the snail up. If you couldn't figure it out, snailboxes hold letters, which often give you tips among other things. If you ever spot one, check if you have any new letters! The letter is of no importance, so pass by the snailbox down the path until you hear a cry for help. The Morel Heavy is being attacked by a mole, so rush to his aid. Since the mole doesn't focus on you, killing it is a cinch. The Morel Heavy thanks Pax, though doesn't know the whereabouts of any meteors. He suggests heading to the outpost for more information, yet you will have to get past the blockade. To move the doll out of the tunnel entrance, Pax must use Sporekinesis. If you see an object covered in glowing green spores, you will be able to target and subsequently move it. Use the Wii Remote to point at the doll as the target reticule turns into a brain. Press B to use your new power to push the doll out of the way. Using Sporekinesis consumes Spore Power (the green bar underneath the targeting reticule), so collect spore goo to refill your Spore Power along with your health. There is an infected plant that releases spore goo to your left, so you should be fine in terms of health and Spore Power. Now that the tunnel is opened, head through. Break open the container to find a stick inside. We're one step closer to building a new weapon! Stick - Goal Completed! Smash the crackers in the way and continue towards a glowing green bulb. These things also release spore goo when struck. Basically anything that glows neon green will drop spore goo when hit. As you pass the spore container, your controller will rumble. A meteorite must be nearby! Destroy the crackers to your left to uncover a meteorite [1/10]. Pax absorbs this one as well. I'm sensing a pattern of sorts... Continue forward past the two baseballs. Note that they are also covered in green spores. You can use Sporekinesis on them, but there is no need. Proceed until you reach a flimsy, spore-covered wall. Tear it down with your new ability and move on. Up ahead is a fork in the road. Take a left and continue to reach a large area. There are several moles below; we don't need to drop down, so go right along the walkway. As your controller begins to rumble, collect the useless shiny yellow rock in the corner behind the pipes [1/4]. Go back down towards the entrance and look to the right. There is a ledge underneath the ramp we just walked over, and you should see a meteorite chunk on said ledge. Remove the wooden planks nearby using Sporekinesis, then jump and use a cap glide to reach the ledge. Collect the meteorite [2/10] before gliding back to the main walkway. Collect the spore goo from the spore container before returning to the fork. This time take the right path. Use Sporekinesis to push the mine cart down the track; any enemies in the way will be killed. Follow the track down to reach the bottom of the room we were just in. Eliminate the trio of moles and snag the useless shiny yellow rock on the left side of the chamber [2/4]. A spore has found its way on the corpse of a rat in the far end of the room. As brutal as it sounds, attack the dead body to release spore goo. Again, anything infected, whether it be animals or plants, drop health-replenishing spore goo. After hitting the corpse a few times, it'll curl up, symbolizing the fact that you have emptied it of spore goo. Before exiting the room, jump up on the stack of cans near the carrots. Ignore the blatant product placements as you climb up the stack of cans. When you reach the top, look across the gap towards a small alcove. Cap glide over to it and nab the meteorite chunk [3/10]. Drop down and continue following the track down the tunnel. Break open the cute container to find more scav. Rubber Band - Goal Completed! Break the spore containers open after removing the wooden planks from the shaft. Slay the beetle on the other side of the wall and exit the mine shaft via the overturned cans. Once in this new area, drop down and smash open the capsule for a paper clip. Paper Clip - Goal Completed! Don't miss out on the meteorite chunk [4/10] in the southeast corner of the room, behind the pipe. After getting it, follow the blocks on the perimeter of the room and jump on the pistons. Wait for the moving one to descend to your level, then hop on. Wait for the piston to move up, then drop off on the metal ledge. You will find a slot car motor inside the capsule here. Slot Car Motor - Goal Completed! Follow the arrow sign through the pipe to the other side. Drop down onto the slanted red platform. Destroy the spore container and collect the Saw Staff ammo scattered around. If we're getting ammo for a weapon we don't even own, that must mean that we're about to get it. Break open the canisters on the gray platform to confirm your speculations. Can Opener - Goal Completed! You can use your scav pieces to build the Saw Staff. Naturally, build it. Now we just have to test it out on poor, unsuspecting saps! I know exactly where to do it... Go backwards towards the base of the platform, where it meets with the wall. Walk to the right down the slope and hop onto the gray platforms. From here, descend the platforms on the pole to your right in a spiral fashion. Along the way, you'll obtain another useless shiny yellow rock [3/4]. Once on the ground, test out your new weapon on the three beetles. Even though the Saw Staff uses ammo, you use it the same way as any other weapon. After mutilating the beetles, switch back to your other weapon, The Iron Thumb, by shaking the Nunchuk. You're more agile with this small weapon. Grab the yellow rock past the beetles [4/4]; it's lying against two crackers. Head towards the wooden beam slanted diagonally upwards; it's near the spiral staircase you used to reach the ground. Hug up against the beam and travel around it to spot a very dark alcove behind the giant wheel above you. A meteorite chunk is hidden here, and I mean it's really hidden [5/10]. Return to where you found the can opener and walk past the platforms. When facing the two wrenches at the end of the big red ledge, walk onto the cylinder to the left. Once on the edge, look down to spot a meteorite chunk [6/10] on the underside of the giant gray wheel. Hover down and get it, then return to where you found the can opener. Pass by the Morel Heavy nearby as you make your way into the tunnel. Use Sporekinesis on the mine cart to open the path for you, then follow it. Defeat the mouse up ahead along with the mole that springs out of the earth. At the intersection ahead, take a left. As the screen begins to rumble, a mine cart comes flying your way; jump over it to avoid a nasty collision. When you reach a wall of pencils to your right, your remote will begin shaking. You know what that means. Smash the pencils with your weapon to reveal a meteorite chunk on the other side [7/10]. Proceed along the track and destroy any hazard that gets in your way, whether it be mice with very creepy eyes or more crackers. Dismantle the wooden wall ahead to enter a shaft. Unfortunately, the mine track is stripped and makes it pretty much impossible to cross. Before you drop to the ground, look forward to find a meteorite lying on a support beam. It's in gliding distance, so cap glide on over; it'll be drawn to you if you are close enough to it [8/10]. The road ahead is incredibly steep, and you'll have to climb across the rocks on both sides of the tunnel to make your way up the slope. Ignore the tunnel behind you; it only leads you back to the intersection. Jump up the rocks until you reach the top of the slope and follow the mine track. Defeat the mouse and the mole up ahead and you will eventually reach another intersection and a Morel dude. The left path is pointless, so go straight past the Morel. Move the gasoline can out of the way with Sporekinesis and follow the track to reach yet another... yep, you guessed it: intersection. Blargh. If you try to go right, the tunnel will cave in. That makes things easier on us at least. Naturally, go left. As you proceed up the hill, you'll hear more rumbling. It isn't a mine cart this time: it's a boulder, and you better outrun it, Indiana Jones style! Unfortunately, this situation isn't as suspenseful or enjoyable as the movie mentioned above. All you have to do is run back down the fork and hide down the right path. Once the boulder passes, resume your trek down the left path. Pax will learn another ability in the open chamber ahead. Now when you shake the Wii Remote when using Sporekinesis, you will throw it. Pick up a nearby baseball and hurl it at one of the four moles for an instant kill. Polish your pitching skills on the remaining moles. If you need health, you can find some spore goo at the infected plant nearby. After using America's pastime to kill the moles, clear out the random junk past the infected plant. Climb down the slope and break open the capsule for another piece of scav. Thread - Goal Completed! With this new item, you can build your first slashing weapon: Occam's Razor. As you can see, you can reuse scav, so it's not like you can only use one scav piece once. Build Occam's Razor and equip it. Hug the left wall to reach a broken fence; peek inside and take the meteorite chunk [9/10]. Pass by the mine cart and continue down the track to reach a gap. Jump over the gap. If you follow the track straight ahead, it leads to the mine's exit. We don't have all the meteorite chunks yet, so refrain from exiting. The track splits as it crosses the gap and leads to another path. Cap glide over to it and continue down the tunnel, defeating the mice in the way. You will reach another pencil wall not too far down; break it to obtain another meteorite [10/10]. Return to the gap and jump over to the other mine track. Follow it and avoid one last rogue mine cart, then continue to the exit. As soon as you exit out to the open, the tunnel seals up. - - - Walk past the infected plant towards the group of Morels. Three moles will attack the mushroom people, so protect them by disposing of the creatures. The leader of the moles, Old King Mole, will appear on a ledge above a spike pit after killing the three minions. Try to ignore the groovy music as you face off against this boss. Actually, you can probably stay focused on the music, because this fight doesn't require much thought or patience. .---------------------. | BOSS: Old King Mole | |---------------------'-----------------------------------------------------. | Old King Mole will attack by hurling boulders your way. After the boss battle, climb across the wooden pole past the unpleasant remains of the mole king. Jump on top of them to collect the quarter. Quarter - Goal Complete! Head past the congratulatory Morels towards a large gumball machine. A Morel Heavy will shout at Pax from above. He hands over the quarter. Break open the capsule that falls from the gumball machine to learn the Sticky Hand ability. Gumball Machine - Goal Complete To use Sticky Hand, point at one of the "VOTE" pins and the pointer will turn into a hand. Press B to sling over to the pin; you can press A afterwards for a boosted jump. Make your way to the top of the gumball machine using your new ability to confront another Morel. He suggests meeting with The Engineer in hopes of learning about your meteor-absorbing ailment. .------------. --' Nice Work! '-------------------------------------------------------------- 10/10 meteor chunks 4/4 collectables Total: 11/81 meteor chunks 7/38 collectables ============================================================================== The Kudzu Request [0403] ============================================================================== Pax learns Will of Spores at the start of the level. Test it out on the plant leaf on the wall; you use it the same way as Sporekinesis. The leaf will move to the side, revealing a hole. Jump through to encounter the strange Kudzu plants. The Kudzu is slowly being chomped on by a wild-eyed rabbit, and it asks you to put the monster to rest. Directly attacking the rabbit is a foul idea, so take note of the humongous spinning fan with its sharp blades. You catch my drift? Use Sporekinesis on the fan to, well, you know... You receive a rabbit's foot [1/5] afterwards! Nolan Rabbit - Goal Completed! You can pretty much explore the big shed in any order, but lets try to stay on the ground for now. Walk to the left and kill the two red spiders. There is an infected rat if you need any spore goo. Behind the corpse is a snailbox that reveals some information about the shed. You will find a large hole in the ground across from the corpse. In front of the hole is a capsule containing a dog collar. Continue straight head past the weight machine and a stack of books. To the right is another rabbit, so don't get too close or you will get its attention. Defeat the spider ahead and break open the container nearby for some glue. Move the oil can away from the side of the freezer to locate an entrance inside! Follow the path as it bends to the right. Up ahead is an intersection. To the left is a meteorite chunk encased in ice. We cannot get to it just yet, so go down the other path to eventually find an aspirator. The Aspirator - Goal Completed! Exit the freezer for now. Across is a dresser with shelves in a zig-zag pattern. We can use these shelves to reach the top of the dresser, but ignore it for now. Instead, approach the cardboard box to the left of the dresser. As your controller begins to shake, walk around the back of the box to find a secret compartment containing a meteorite [1/9]. Okay, NOW return to the dresser. As you approach the base of it, a minigame called Egg Jump will begin. As eggs roll down the slopes, you must jump over them. As you do, you will earn a point as the egg disappears in a burst of colorful fireworks. If you fail to jump over it and the egg hits you, you will lose a point. Obtaining the highest score possible is trivial, for you always receive a meteorite for simply reaching the top of the dresser [2/9]. Turn around and cap glide to the top of the freezer. Look above towards the rafters, and you should be able to see a spherical object on top. Get into seeing-eye view and use Sporekinesis on it; the bowling ball will land on the jackalope mount, then fall onto the rabbit below. Success! Felix Rabbit - Goal Completed! Of course, you will receive the second rabbit's foot [2/5]. Before dropping down from the freezer, look at the mess of spiderwebs in the corner: there is a capsule behind it. Jump onto the wooden plank to the right to reach the container. You'll find a bobble head inside. The Bobblehead - Goal Completed! From the edge of the freezer, look down for the foldup chair. Cap glide onto the seat and open the container for a screwdriver. You can now build The Terrier Terror! Build the weapon, then jump onto the turquoise weight bench to the left. Hop onto the Kudzu leaf on the side of the wall. Continue up the wall via the leaves; if you see one toppled over, use Will of Spores to straighten the leaf out. When you reach the top leaf, stand on it and use Will of Spores to have the plant rocket you in the air. Aim for the rafter when you land. Once on the rafter, the Kudzu plant will open up an easier way of reaching the rafters if you fall down for any reason: to the right of the entrance is a hole. Go inside to reach the top of the rafters again! Now that you have a bird's-eye view of the entire shed, it is much easier to spot out objects and items. When you reach the other end of the support beam, look down at the TV below. Drop down onto the television to find a capsule containing a pencil. Climb back up using the nearby Kudzu plant, who acts like an elevator. Hop onto the first leaf on the side of the beam, then continue across the other three. These three brown leaves are very light and will give out from under you, so immediately jump to the other upon landing on one. When you reach the second support beam, walk to the right. Look below to spot a meteorite on the very top of the work bench. Drop down and grab it [3/9], then fall down to the floor. Use the shortcuts to return to this support beam again. You may notice a pipe on the right side of the wooden beam. This pipe takes you to the next room of the shed, but we aren't ready to go there just yet. Instead, head to the other end of the wooden beam and hop on the plant leaf. Use Will of Spores on the leaf across the gap, then cap glide onto it. Jump to the support beam, then to the nearby leaf. Cap glide to the fourth and final support beam, where you will also find a meteorite chunk [4/9]. We are done exploring this room, so drop all the way down to the floor. Enter the big hole in the middle of the room and eliminate the red spider along the way. You will emerge in the next portion of the shed. Dispose of the spider near the hole, then defeat the small group near the middle of the room. Once the coast is clear, run underneath the black water heater (it is across from the hole you came from). Underneath the water heater is a match. The Match - Goal Completed! Emerge from underneath the water heater and look up to the stool near the hole. Use Sticky Hand on the bottle on top of the stool to reach the top. Collect the bottle cap here and leap onto the nearby leaf, then onto the table. I suggest building the Cap Cutter now that you have the necessary ingredients. Use Sticky Hand on the red toolbox to your right. Once at the top, open the capsule for electrician's tape! Electrical Tape - Goal Completed! Return to the stool back a lil' ways and hop onto the leaf again. Follow the trail of plant leaves along the side of the wall to reach the top of the water heater. Collect the zip tie as you make your way to the back of the water heater to find a second row of plant leaves. Jump along these to gain access to the rafters. A meteorite chunk is sitting right in front of you, so why not grab it? [5/9]. From here, turn around and jump on top of the pipe connected to the tip of the water heater. Climb down the pipe and defeat any hornets flying around. You can reach the second support beam once on the edge of the pipe, so cap glide down onto it. Go down the wooden beam towards the black box thingy. You should feel the controller rumbling, which can only mean one thing. Walk to the very tip of the wooden beam and turn your camera; there is a hole on the other end of the box! Carefully jump inside and collect the meteorite [6/9]. With it in your possession, jump back onto the wooden beam. From up here, you should be able to see the pipe from the last room, so if you want to return to the previous room, you can also go through the pipe up here. From up here, glide down onto the motorcycle. Jump on the dresser and get rid of the red spider. There is a hole in the corner of the dresser, so grab the toothpick at the edge and jump on in. Upon obtaining the toothpick, you can now create the Gore D'Oeuvre Staff, your first Thrusting weapon! Drop all the way down to the floor and dispose of the two spiders. There are two valuable items on both sides of the dresser; one side holds a whistle (which allows you to build the Out-Of-Bounds Incinerator granted you found the other pieces) and a meteorite chunk tucked in the other corner [7/9]. The Whistle - Goal Completed! With both of these in hand, exit the dresser the same way you came in. Move to the other end of the dresser; across from you is a crated filled with logs and just below is a poor, unsuspecting rabbit. Use Sporekinesis on the lock on the underside of the crate to open it. Needless to say, you'll come up with the third rabbit's foot [3/5]. Caleb Rabbit - Goal Completed! Two more rabbits jump out from some loose floorboards. Jump onto the motorcycle and look below for another rabbit. Just above its head is a shover teetering on its hook. Give it some help with Sporekinesis to take down the fourth rabbit [4/5]. Xavier Rabbit - Goal Completed! Jump back on the dresser and focus on the leaves next to the hole. Jump on the lowest one and use Will of Spores to shoot up to the next one. Repeat this twice more to reach a leaf high above. Look around the bend to the left to spot another leaf; once it's in your sight, cap glide over. Keep jumping across leaves and using Will of Spores on the spore-covered ones to eventually reach the other side of the rafters. Another shortcut will open back down on the ground, making your trip to the rafters much easier. Continue across the support beams. As you can probably tell, there is a meteorite chunk lying in plain sight on one of the support beams here [8/9]. Make your way to the open pipe on the other side of the rafters and head to the previous room. Remember the meteorite frozen inside the freezer? Head back inside and use the Out-Of-Bounds Incinerator to melt the ice block. Collect the meteorite chunk once freed [9/9]. The final rabbit is also in this room, next to the jackalope mount (which is now on the ground). The pin to the weight machine is above and to the left of the rabbit. Pull it out using Sporekinesis to finish off the rabbit and receive the final rabbit's foot [5/5]. Gary Rabbit - Goal Completed! NOTE: If for any reason you did not use the traps to kill any of the five rabbits and had to dispose of them with a weapon, you will not receive a rabbit's foot. If this is the case, restart the level to reset all the traps and try again. Now that all the rabbits are taken care of and we have all the meteorites, we can exit the shed! A cutscene will show an opening appear in the room with the motorcycle. Head on back and climb down the new hole to finish the first half of the level. - - - Pax will encounter a nasty jackalope after leaving the shed. I guess they are real after all! .-----------------. | BOSS: Jackalope | |-----------------'---------------------------------------------------------. | The Jackalope may be more difficult than that joke Old King Mole, but the | | strategy for defeating this boss isn't that much of a head-scratcher. The | | Jackalope only has one main attack: it will spit out apple cores (how it | | does that and manages to keep them in tact is beyond me). These things | | can hurt, so don't let them hit you. If you're getting smacked around by | | the flying produce, consult to the infected plant for health. | | | | You must fling the apple cores back at the Jackalope, but this can be a | | tad difficult. They tend to explode on impact, leaving you with the sole | | option of grabbing them in midair with Sporekinesis. Sometimes you may | | get lucky if the apple rolls on the ground; if that is the case, pick it | | up and hurl it back at the boss. | | | | The key is that you must be standing next to one of the four rocks. Once | | you anger the boss by throwing its regurgitated food back at it, it'll | | charge your position. If you are hiding behind one of the rocks, the boss | | will smash the rock and knock itself out momentarily. When the Jackalope | | is down, whack it a few times. Repeat this process three more times, | | using the other rocks as cover, to defeat the Jackalope. | |___________________________________________________________________________| The Jackalope - Goal Completed! Pick up the meteorite chunk the Jackalope coughs up (literally!) [1/1] and approach the glowing ball of light to complete the level. .------------. --' Nice Work! The snailbox to your right suggest using Thrusting weapons against flying creatures. Well the bug up ahead can fly, so why don't you equip your Gore D'Oeuvre Staff? Before you confront the enemies, turn around and whack the capsule to find a rabbit's foot scav. Also look to the right of the snailbox to find an opossum tooth behind a rock [1/3]. Run forward and kill the tiny hornets, then face off against the bloated, mutated fly. The easiest way to fight this battle is to jump and execute an aerial attack. Pax will fly forwards as he jabs the air in front of him. As you hit the fly, immediately block afterwards to counter its attack. Repeat this simple process to weaken the beast. Pax will then learn the Spore Punisher attack. When an enemy is weakened and is spewing green goo, aim and press B to make it spin around and explode. Test it out on this guy; you will find a meteorite chunk amidst the, well, chunks [1/6]. Run up the tilted wooden plank and near the cage to talk to an imprisoned Morel. They mention that their camp has been ambushed by the evil Amanita mushroom tribe. Yeah, there are evil mushrooms in this game! Just as they are mentioned, a band of Amanitas appear and... further imprison the prisoners? The Amanitas are pretty tough foes. They are equipped with weapons of their own and surely know how to use them. I suggest using Slashing or Thrusting weapons on these enemies. Definitely test out your Spore Punisher ability; note that an exploding enemy will daSage others if they are close by. There are three types of Amanita: the Scout are the quick little guys. The Heavies are the big lugs, and the Sages are the annoying guys that stay on the outskirts of battle and shoot magic projectiles at you. In any fight against Amanitas, worry about the Scouts and Heavies first, then concentrate on the weak Sage. After the fight, the caged Morels will be freed. They tell you to warn the others before running away. Caged Morels? - Goal Completed! Look inside the cage to find an opossum tooth [2/3]. Stock up on spore goo at the infected plant and continue forward. Go up the plank and look across at the meteorite in the corner. That wasn't that hard to find [2/6]. Head up towards the house and claim the jack underneath the ramp leading into the house. Build the Jumping Jack Bash and enter the house via the ramp. Inside, Pax encounters an extremely angry opossum. Dodge the acorns it flings at you. Quickly jump onto the cinderblock to the left and up the metal platforms towards the dial for the garden hose. Turn it using Sporekinesis to spray the possum. It will run away, leaving behind a meteorite. You can also defeat the opossum by shooting three acorns at it, but it won't leave the meteorite chunk behind if you beat it this way. Check inside the cinderblock below to find an opossum tooth inside [3/3]. Defeat the cockroaches and also open the capsule next to it for a can opener handle. Glide over to the lazy boy from the dial to the garden hose and claim your prize [3/6]. Drop back down and go underneath the leg rest of the chair. Move around the perimeter of the area to find a meteorite chunk behind the hole [4/6]. If you have 25 meteorites at this point, Pax will upgrade his cap strength, Spore Power, and attack! Okay, NOW you can fall down the hole. Continue through to reach a band of Morels toying with the defense system. Before warning them of the incoming attack, turn around and jump behind the hole. There is a meteorite inside the red gas can, but we cannot get it just yet. Instead, follow the wall towards a capsule; open it for a safety pin. Pass by the towers towards a ramp on the left side of the area. Go to the right of the ramp, past the infected plant, to find a meteorite behind a small rock [5/6]. Return to the ramp and climb it. Ignore the mean Refinery Morels and go beyond the watch tower to find some rubber cement. Jump into the watch tower and use your weight to move the gear to sound the alarm. Instead of defending their turf, the Morels evacuate. Warn the Morels - Goal Completed! Cap glide onto the tower that the Morel was just on: it's recognizable by the green gear on the top. There are nine towers in all, grouped like so: .---. .---. .---. | | | | | | '---' '---' '---' Looking at this diagram, the broken TV is south of of the tower on the bottom row. Each tower is .---. .---. .---. broken up into two parts: the upper part and the | | | | | | lower part. You will find switches on both the top '---' '---' '---' and bottom part of each tower. The heat pipe turns up, igniting the red gas canister. It explodes, revealing a meteorite chunk as well as an exit! The Amanitas turn around at the sight of fire as they shake their fists like crazed barbarians. Drop down towards the opening and slowly approach the meteorite chunk near the flames. Avoid touching the flames or else it's game over [6/6]. Move through the exit to finish the first half of the level. - - - The Amanitas ambush Pax in a bathroom of all places. Again, try to use Spore Punisher on one of the enemies. As they are spinning, stand next and block as the other enemies are baited in. Once the poor sap blows up, the others go down with him. After defeating all enemies, use Sticky Hand to get on top of the toilet seat. Look towards the wall at all the nooks and crannies between the broken tiles. There is one particular crevice to the left of a slanted title that looks like a diamond. Cap glide into this crevice to find a well-hidden meteorite [1/4]. Drop down and climb up the ramp on the other side of the bathroom. As you near the sink, use Sporekinesis on the medicine cabinet to leave it slightly ajar. Hop inside and collect the meteorite chunk [2/4], then hop back outside. Follow the walkways to eventually reach a vehicle manned by Il Capitano. This neat balloon uses the steam to propel itself, though the Aminitas plugged up the steam vent nearby. Cap glide over to it and make contact with the cork to knock it out. Before you go back to the captain, look towards the far end of the room; the left side. There is a small medicine cabinet in front of you to the left, and you should be able to see a capsule inside if you adjust the camera just right. Cap glide over to the capsule and open it for a bike clamp. Return to the balloon and jump inside. You must control the vehicle yourself by using Sporekinesis on one of the arrow buttons. Use it on the right button (an arrow pointing up) to cross over to the steam vent you just unplugged. The one ahead is also unplugged, and Il Capitano needs your assistance. Drop off and jump up to the ledge, then follow it towards the steam vent. Defeat the Aminita Heavy and unplug the vent. Return to the balloon and travel to the vent you just unplugged. Up ahead is, yep, another plugged-up steam vent. Continue down the catwalk and collect the cotton swab. Cotton Swab - Goal Completed! Kill the Aminita Heavy and let the steam run free, then ride here with the captain's balloon. Head towards the next plugged vent by jumping onto the cabinet. Snag the meteorite chunk on top [3/4]. It's probably best now to get the next piece of scav, which is inside the cabinet below you. Drop down and cap glide inside and grab the toothbrush. Toothbrush - Goal Completed! Il Capitano will go get you at the starting point, so return there. Fly back to the farthest steam vent and jump back on top of the cabinet where you found the meteorite. Jump to the platforms on the opposite side of the bathroom and break open the container for a screw. Screw - Goal Completed! From where you found the screw, look below you to spot a small wooden ledge between the wall and the cabinet. Fall down onto this ledge to find the opossum tooth [1/1]. Step down onto the platform and kill the Aminita guarding the steam vent. While you're here, use Sporekinesis on the switch on the wall to open the hatch all the way down on the ground. The next plug seems to be out of reach, but upon further inspection you can use Sticky Hand on the "VOTE" pin near the plug. Latch onto the pin, kill the enemy, and unplug the vent. Finally, ride the balloon to the top of the bathroom to find the jig saw blade. Saw Blade - Goal Completed! Build the Kavity Kreaper, then drop down to the ground towards the open hatch. Make your way through and head to the left. Continue up the large, zig-zag walkways, Jumpman-style. Some of the portions will collapse under you, in which you should roll or jump to safety. There are a few Aminitas strewn along this path, though they can easily be taken care of. At the top, you will reach that dang possum again! .---------------. | BOSS: Opossum | |---------------'-----------------------------------------------------------. | You fight the opossum in a side-scrolling view like the previous area. | | The pesky poss hurls acorns at Pax like before, though they move way too | | fast to be controlled by your Sporekinesis. Just jump over them. The boss | | often throws two acorns in a row, then moves onto its next attack. The | | possum will jump across the room before landing on the other side, so | | make sure you aren't crushed by rolling to the side. | | | | After jumping and throwing acorns a few times, the opossum will hang down | | from the ceiling. As it falls to the ground, an acorn falls down with it. | | Grab the acorn and toss it right in the dang possum's face to daSage it. | | After hurting the boss once, it'll increase its battle tactics. | | | | Now that the opossum is ticked off, it will begin throwing acorns more 'n | | more and at a much greater speed. Again, continue to jump over each one. | | When the boss starts acting cheap, it's time to return the favor. Instead | | of waiting for the opossum to knock an acorn to the ground, grab one from | | the ceiling yourself with Sporekinesis. Keep on hurling the acorns at the | | boss; it will go down after five or six acorns to the face. | |___________________________________________________________________________| Opossum - Goal Completed! If you manage to defeat the opossum without dying once, you will receive the final meteorite [4/4]. The possum plays dead and strikes when Pax least expects it, though its plan goes a bit south. Like, literally. Pax finally makes it to the Morel Fortress as the level comes to a close. .------------. --' Nice Work! To the right of The Engineer is a slide puzzle. It actully looks kinda difficult, but is rather easy when you start moving things around. You have to get the three dominos in the slots to the left, right, and top of the puzzle. I suggest moving the domino with the "Two, One" markings into its slot first, then the "One" domino, then leaving the "Two, Three" domino last. Once the dominos are moved into place, the engine will start running and a new path will open up. Position the Dominos - Goal Completed! Before going up the ramp, walk behind the rotting dead rat (lovely...) and check behind the boxes to find the first graduation cap [1/5]. Head up the ramp to the step, where The Engineer will badger you into starting up the engine. Drop down to the ground towards the three toy cars. Use your Sporekinesis to pull the cars back on the track so they are clamped in place. Past the third toy car, sneak between the side of the wooden clamp box and sqeeze between the box and the wall to find a meteorite [1/10]. Continue to the other side of the box and climb up the walkway against the wall. Climb to the top of the box and jump on top of the seesaw-like lever in the middle to use the toy cars to start the engine. Boy, these mushroom guys are really smart if they can build intricate contraptions like this. Start the Engine - Goal Completed! Amanitas storm the room and The Enginner, being the nice guy that he is, seals Pax in with them and won't open the doors until they are all defeated. Take care of the five or six Amanitas to unlock the doors. Go back behind the box if you haven't already and take the door on the right. Follow the hallway to reach an open area with a switch and a meteorite chunk lying on top of two crates [2/10]. Turn the switch with Sporekinesis to open one of the hatches in front of you. Go through the hatch door and follow the catwalk in front of you. Hop over the railing and onto the pipe hugging the wall. Follow it to reach a meteorite chunk on the far end of the room [3/10]. Drop down to the ground immediately afterwards. Kill any Amanitas present and heal if needed, then face the opposite wall (the same wall where the entrance doorway is). Look above at the two ice cream scoops hanging on the wall. Use Sporekinesis on the horizontal one to turn it downwards, opening another hatch in the previous room. Search underneath the ice cream scoop you just moved to find a graduation cap [2/5]. Before you explore the opened door, head to the right side of the room. Head to the southeast corner near the metal piping holding the giant structure up. Squeeze between the object and the wall to find a closed door. Jump over the low pipe past the door to find another meteorite [4/10]. Return to the previous room and enter the newly-opened hatch door. Flip the switch with Sporekinesis to open the door in front of you. Go through and flip the second switch to open the next door in front of you (while closing the one you just came through). In the third room, turn the ice cream scoop to open the final hatch in the last room. Take note of the closed door to the left of the scoop; we'll open it in a second. Go backwards and open the door using the switch, then return to the last room and head through Door #3. The closed door back through Door #2 opens, so head there and proceed through. Collect the meteorite chunk in the corner [4/10] and open the container for a pickle fork. Build the Pickle Pricker and look above you to spot two ice cream scoops. Turn 'em both, then exit and go through Door #1 again. Return to where you found the graduation cap and turn around to find a lone ice cream scoop on the adjascent wall. Turn it with Sporekinesis to power on the steam vents and open the door near where we found the fourth meteorite chunk. As soon as you go through, The Engineer seals off all exits and waits for you to eliminate the Amanitas. Finish off the three enemies to unlock the doors. The only door that stays closed is the one you just came from. Facing said door, turn to the left and take the graduation cap [3/5] in the alcove. With your back against the alcove, look up to find a "VOTE" sticker high up on the wall above the topmost ledge. Use Sticky Hand to get up there, then hop across the gap to the left and flip the switch here at the dead end. Now continue all the way around the walkway to reach a meteorite chunk in the corner [6/10]. Fall down to the ground and go through the door near the base of the ramp. Jump over the box and flip the switch to open another hatch on the far side of the wall. Look for a quarter on the far side of the wall. Use Sticky Hand on it, then drop down on the other end and through the door. At the intersection here, go to the right to find yet another switch! Flip it to open a nearby door. Before finding its whereabouts, jump on top of the crates near the switch. Hop over to the platform, then drop to the other side to find both a graduation cap [4/5] and a meteorite [7/10]. To get out of here, use Sticky Hand on the quarter stuck to the ceiling. Take the door in front of you. In this room, push the block to the left and use it to reach the ledge above you. Knock away the tiny cluster of blocks to reveal a switch. Naturally, push it, then drop down on the other side of the ledge and proceed through the open hatch. Lotta switches, lotta doors... Pax will discover the defense mechanism through the door. It's basically just a trumpet. Fiddle around with the keys to push them down; try various combos until all the keys are pushed down. Activate the Defenses - Goal Completed! Before leaving, collect the graduation cap [5/5] on the left side of the room. Use Sticky Hand on the quarter stuck to the ceiling to reach the ledge and flip the switch again to open the entrance. An Amanita will drop down from the ventilation shaft, so kill him. Basically you have to backtrack through all of these rooms, flipping every switch again to continue through. Every time you do so, you'll have to fight a couple Amanitas. Annoying, I know. Continue backtracking to the very start of the level where The Engineer lies. He gives you a battery and tells Pax to man the crossbow on the ledge above. Go up the ramp and get on the crossbow to begin a minigame. The minigame is mind-numbingly simple. Bugs will fly onto the screen and try to drop Amanitas onto the building you're protecting. Shoot them with B to knock them down. You have ten hearts, and continue killing Amanitas until all your hearts are depleted. Yep, there's no winning or losing the game; just see how many Amanitas you can shoot down before they overwhelm you. The Engineer escapes, but not before giving Pax another chore to do. From the walkway, go to the right and jump over the gap. Use Sticky Hand on the quarter and jump to the top of the box. Hop to the platform, then to the gear and take the meteorite chunk in plain sight [8/10]. Jump past the gear towards the brown platform in the corner. Sticky Hand over to the quarter stuck on the stack of boxes and jump up to the top. Hop to the machinery on your left and climb up onto the pipe to find the ninth meteorite chunk at the end [9/10]. Drop down onto the platform to the right and continue around the perimeter of the room. Use Sticky Hand on the next quarter to seemingly reach a dead end. However, look across at the wall and scan the area for another quarter. Sling up to it to reach a ledge high up on the roof. Grab the meteorite chunk on a small platform to the left [10/10]. You can find another platform to glide over to on the opposite side of the room. Cap glide over to it and use Sporekinesis on the lever to set off the entire shaft. .------------. --' Nice Work! Cute. Check what the snailbox has to offer, then move forward to encounter the Rookie Shiitake. This guy is very tough despite being a supposed rookie; he will jump all over the place to dodge your attack. Follow up on his backflips and side jumps with your strongest weapon. You can also use the two marbles on the ground to stun the enemy. Block his jab and slice attacks, then continue pounding on him. Note that you cannot use your Spore Punisher technique on the Rookie Shiitake. He has a lot of health, but will go down if you stay persistant. He drops a shiitake armband [1/5] before disappearing in a puff of smoke. Rookie Shiitake - Goal Completed! There are several areas to explore after completing your first goal. First things first: there is an infected plant to the right of the starting area, if you need to heal after the fight. Go beyond the shopping cart where you start the level. Ignore the red arch to your left and continue to the very end. To the right is a green-tinted alcove and to the left is an overturned dresser. Jump inside and break open the capsule at the top to find a glass shard. NOTE: If you want to face off against the Water Shiitake early on, you can. Drop down into the sewer and enter the drain pipe to encounter him. He will teleport into a waterlogged chamber. Follow the Water Shiitake in and begin the fight. He will skate on the water's surface and toss water balls at you. He isn't too tough, but it's recommended that you ignore the sewer for now, as you can take him on at a much easier state later in the level. Build the Glass Club and equip it, then return to the red arch we passed earlier. Go through and follow the tunnel to reach the Earth Shiitake's realm. He is a lot slower than the Rookie Shiitake, but has stronger attacks. He jumps around the arena nearly non-stop, creating tiny shockwaves every time he lands. These do not hurt you, but will knock Pax backwards. The Earth Shiitake can also throw rocks at you, but they are easily dodged. Later in the fight, he will conjure up rock pillars from the ground. They can be tricky to dodge, so just keep rolling and jumping when you see him stop and move his arms up in the air. You can use the Glass Club to attack the Earth Shiitake or repeatedly hurl the empty honey can at him. Once the Earth Shiitake submits, he retreats and hands over a shiitake armband [2/5]. Heal up at the infected plant nearby, then use Will of Spores on the withered plant next to you. Climb up on the leaves to reach a wooden board. Continue up the side ramp to reach a plank higher up, where a meteorite chunk lies [1/10]. Look across the gap to find two other wooden planks. There are withered plants underneath in which you can use, but it's far simpler to just cap glide over to one of them. Use Sporekinesis on both of the dials; from the rightmost plank, jump up to the birdhouse. Break open the canister for a sardine can key. Go through the birdhouse and follow the path. You'll feel a vibration indicating a meteorite chunk. If you look over the wooden railing to the right you should spot it. We cannot get it at this point, so ignore it and continue on. Turn the third dial here to open a floodgate down below. Backtrack through the tunnel and drop down to the floor. An opening has appeared across from the entrance to the Earth Shiitake's realm. Proceed through, opening the capsule on the other side to obtain a corn cob holder. Now you can build the Malice on the Cob! Upon entering this new area, jump on top of the balcony above you, then hop onto the rock to the left for a meteorite [2/10]. Jump back onto the balcony and hop up to the slanted rock and follow the side of the birdhouse to reach the meteorite chunk we saw before [3/10]. Drop down and go towards the opposite side from the entrance to find another dresser. Walk behind the dresser to find another meteorite chunk [4/10]. The cockroaches and flies wandering around are incredibly annoying, as there is an endless wave of them. Try your best to avoid them and fight off any that get too close. Run under the arch and hop up the brick. Jump to the coffee cup and hop in the plastic crate to the left to find a capsule containing a corkscrew. Use Sticky Hand on the quarters to get out of the crate, then jump onto the garbage bag to the left. Look above you to find another quarter stuck to the roof of a small opening. Once up there, look inside to find a meteorite chunk tucked away [5/10]. Now resume your ascent up the mountain of junk. From the coffee cup, hop up to the newspaper and scale the garbage can. Jump to the overturned box of Crunchy Puffs!!, then up to the cinderblock. The box here is slightly ajar, giving you access to a wooden bridge, but stay on the cinderblock and face against the wall. You can hop through a crack in the side below the bridge. Jump down into the area to find a well-hidden meteorite [6/10]. Jump back up and walk across the bridge. Follow the slope down into a pretty forest, where you will encounter the Twin Forest Shiitake. Makes sense. These guys may seem tough, but are incredibly easy once you figure out their battle strategy. They will teleport in the bamboo stalks and toss projectiles down at Pax below. In order to stop their little charade, cut down the bamboo stalks in the area. I believe there are five or six of them in the arena. Now that the Twin Forest Shiitake have nowhere to teleport to, they'll stay on the ground and run amok. Bash them a few times before they grow another set of bamboo stalks. Again, cut 'em all down like a crazed lumberjack and attack the twins once they appear on the ground. The first one that goes down will leave behind a shiitake armband [3/5]. Defeat the second one to receive another one [4/5]. Twin Forest Shiitake - Goal Complete! Heal up at the infected plant, then approach the red arch. Before dropping down, leap onto the boulder to the left to find another container. Open it for a thermometer, which completes the ingredients needed for the Mercury Mincer. Fall down in the hole past the archway. Walk across the root to find another capsule; it holds a second corn cob holder. Turn to the right to spot a meteorite chunk on a small platform not too far from your location. Cap glide over to it [7/10]. From here, your best bet is to drop all the way to the ground. Follow the ledge on the perimeter of the area past the "Up" sign to reach a platform. Jump up to the second branch above you and look around. Use Will of Spores on the nearby infected branch to make it move to your location. Ride the branch to the second infected branch. Ride the third branch to reach a meteorite high up on another infected branch. If you somehow miss it when jumping to it, use Will of Spores on the branch to make it retreat into the wall, dropping the meteorite chunk to the ground [8/10]. Exit through the opening at the end and follow the trail to the left. Beat up the dead rat for some spore goo, then proceed under the arch towards a raging river. We have to redirect the water flow to continue onward. To do this, use Will of Spores on the three water ducts to move the water flow. Pax will encounter the Water Shiitake after moving through the dried river. He complains at the lack of water before running to the left. Follow him towards a small pond. Before facing off against the Water Shiitake, we should really collect the final two meteorite chunks. If you do not, the level ends after beating the Shiitake. Ignore your opponent for now and run to the back of the area. The meteorite chunk is lying on the ground behind a branch [9/10]. You should get an upgrade after this meteorite if you have collected every last one up to this point. Jump onto the central rock pillar, then hop onto the stone walkway on the side of the room. Follow it to a tiny pipe, where the final meteorite lies [10/10]. He will only attack by throwing water balls at you, which are easy enough to dodge. Sometimes he will create a huge wave, but that rarely happens. Overall, this fight is a lot easier if you drain the water from the battlefield. Attack the Water Shiitake relentlessly to finish this simple fight. Pax will receive the last shiitake armband [5/5] for his troubles. Water Shiitake - Goal Complete! The five Shiitakes thank Pax and ask him a favor: defeat the scourge that thrives under the ground. What a fun level! .------------. --' Nice Work! '-------------------------------------------------------------- 10/10 meteor chunks 5/5 collectables Total: 51/81 meteor chunks 26/38 collectables ============================================================================== Giants of the Inner Sanctum [0407] ============================================================================== Ooh, a spooky graveyard! Definitely a nice change of pace. From your starting location, turn around and run behind the wooden wall to find the first meteorite chunk [1/10]. Normally, we would run down the slope, but that isn't needed. :) Check the right side of the wooden wall for an open space between the wall and the bone fence. Drop down onto the wooden ledge down here, then continue forward to reach a platform containing a meteorite [2/10]. Now you can drop down onto the red floor below. Kill the Amanita down here. The three entrances are sealed up, but luckily there is a small hole in one of the gates (the one without the two skull decorations above it). Crawl through and proceed down the tunnel. At the fork ahead, take the path with the green tinted glow. The other path takes you to the Amanita General, who will slaughter you with little hesitation. Cactos is being held prisoner in this next room. We can't really do much as of this moment, so instead kill the two Amanitas. The two gates back near the start of the level open up, but we have one stop before that. Proceed up the hill towards Cactos's cage and jump on top of the soda cans, then jump into the strange ceremonial bowl. Avoid the searing hot coals in the center by cap gliding to the other end, where you will find a meteorite chunk lying at the end [3/10]. Backtrack to the open gates and slay all the Amanitas running around. You may have an easier time if you use the many baseballs down here. From the cracked gate, go straight ahead through the opening. At the intersection, eliminate the two Amanitas and go right. Collect the broken scissors and take the meteorite chunk from inside the skull's mouth [4/10]. Go back to the fork and go straight this time. A meteorite chunk is lying under a platform at the end of the path. You can either drop down to the right and search under the platform to reach it, but Pax usually absorbs it just by standing above it [5/10]. Jump up the two bone platforms to your right to reach an upper ledge. Continue up the bone platforms to the top of the shaft. Move through the tunnel for a scene once you reach the end. Run between the coffin and the wall to your right and kill the three Amanitas. Follow the path as it winds around and try not to focus on the creepy cyclops mushrooms growing on the side of the trail. Pass an infected plant to come across a capsule holding a dart. Now you can build a Bull's Eye! Backtrack a bit until you reach the bone platforms on the side of the wall. Start your way up to reach a seemingly dead end. Use Will of Spores on the creepy cyclops mushroom growing on the side of the adjascent wall. Hop onto it and look to your right; more bone platforms in the distance. Cap glide over to 'em to reach a meteorite chunk [6/10]. Glide back over to the mushroom and follow the path the other way. Coninue across the string of bone platforms to eventually reach another withered mushroom. Invigorate it with Will of Spores and use it as a platform. Proceed across the platforms to reach the top of the coffin. Okaaaaay, two cans and two lids. I wonder what we are to do? Use Sporekinesis on the lids to plug both of the cans up, which raises two nearby cans. Jump on top of the raised cans and into the duct on the side of the wall. Inside, take care of the two Amanitas and yank the lever to free Mr. Left: Cactos's left arm. !!! Free Left Cactos Arm - Goal Completed! Before leaving the main chamber, head over to the cage and collect the cactus flower underneath the cage door (which is a hand) [1/3]. Return all the way to the red room near the start of the level. Along the way, you will face off against many more Amanitas. Once at your destination, move through the third gate. A piece of a ribcage will block your path, but you're able to squeeze between the ribs to the other side. Continue trudging through the tunnel (which looks like all the others) to reach another open area. Defeat the wave of Amanitas and pass by the spinal columns to the left. Use Will of Spores on the fungi and stand on the third mushroom. Jump onto the leaft and use Will of the Spores to power it up. The leaf will begin moving alongside the wall. There are two vertebrae against the wall, and they will halt your progress (they don't stop the leaf, they just stop you). When you reach the first one, jump to the spinal column sticking out of the center of the room. As the leaf passes underneath the column, jump back to it. Do the same with the second spinal column. Instead of jumping back onto the moving leaf, look between the two spinal columns attached to the wall. Use Sticky Hand on the "VOTE" sticker to get launched up to a secret compartment. It holds a meteorite chunk [7/10] and two capsules. Collect the boardgame figurine and pipe inside, then build some new weapons! The next meteorite is tricky, because it's on the other side of the rightmost spinal column. Stand on the opening gazing out to the rest of the room below. Cap glide around the spinal column to the right and drop down onto the mushroom below to get it [8/10]. From here, cap glide across the room to the spinal column covered in leaves. Face to the right of the cage and jump onto the brown walkway. Walk across the top of the tombstone and to the edge of the ledge. There are a few leaves and green roots emerging from a small hole in the wall across from you. Glide over to it and use Will of Spores on the pile of green branches to make a turret appear on one of the spinal columns. Return to the spine and operate the turret. As Amanitas emerge from sewer ducts below, attack them with the turret by pressing B. There is no way to win or lose the game, so continue attacking until the game ends. A meteorite chunk appears at the base of the cage once the game wraps up, so jump down to get it [9/10]. Enter the room to the left of the cage to find a lever at the far end. Pull it to remove one frying pan from the side of the cage. A ceiling trap appears next to you; time your movements and use a rolling jump to breach it without trouble. Run around the raised walls to reach the cage. Remove the screw from the top of the cage, then enter the room on the right. Run to the end and lower the lever. The step leading to the entrance will lower. Have no fear! Just use the mushrooms on the side of the room to get outta here. Remove the second screw to free the right hand. Free Right Cactos Arm - Goal Completed! Take the cactus flower from underneath the cage [2/3] and return to Cactos's cage. Of course your journey won't be easy, because you will have to fight Amanitas at nearly every turn. When you reach the red "hub room", several Amanitas attack using two blue scorpions. These nasty arachnids may look big and may seem tough, but they actually aren't. Attack their backsides or simply fling baseballs to defeat them. Next, finish off the remaining Amanitas. Defeat Amanita Wave - Goal Completed! Once the wave is reduced to shambles, enter the tunnel where they came from. Drop down the hole to reach a side-scrolling section similar to one of the earlier levels. Go forward and use Will of Spores on the two mushrooms; take the last meteorite chunk [10/10] before climbing up the mushrooms. The room will begin filling up with lava, so be quick when crossing the mushrooms and using Will of Spores on the others. Once you reach the top, open the container for a wall hook and build a Hokey Pokey from the scav. Follow the path to the red room. Follow Mr. Left and Mr. Right back to Cactos's holding cell. Cactos frees himself and vows revenge on the Amanitas General. Before you go, take the final cactus flower from the remains of his cage [3/3]. Head to the General's chamber to start the fight. .-----------------------. | BOSS: Amanita General | |-----------------------'---------------------------------------------------. | This fight is pretty simple, even though it's like David vs. Goliath with | | you and the boss. Cactos deals with the General himself while Pax is left | | to deal with the Amanita army. Each wave usually consists of one Sage, a | | few Scouts and a couple Heavies. Worry about the Scouts and Heavies first | | before focusing on the Sage. Try to use Spore Punisher on one of the foes | | to take out a whole group. | | | | After Pax takes down the first wave, the Amanita General will focus on | | you. Simply stand still and hold down Z to block. No matter how big your | | opponent may be, the General's claw swipes will not hurt you if you are | | blocking. Continue until another wave appears. | | | | Once the General and Cactos duke it out in a lava-filled chamber, leap | | across the platforms on the side of the room. When you reach the top, go | | through the side tunnel and take down a couple scorpions. Sling over to | | the "VOTE" sticker at the end of the path and use Will of Spores on the | | plant eye to open two of the four leaves in the boss chamber. | | | | Exit the side tunnel and jump to the left to find another "VOTE" sticker. | | Sticky Hand over to it, then look across the chasm to find a second one. | | Repel yourself over to the platform. Hop across the next two platforms | | and use Sticky Hand one final time to reach the base of another tunnel. | | Take down the scorpion and move the blocks at the end of the tunnel to | | reveal another plant eye. Use Will of the Spores on it. | | | | Back in the boss chamber, the leaves pull away, revealing a skeleton hand | | on the ceiling. Carefully drop/float back down to the bottom of the room | | and use Sporekinesis on the hand to finish the fight. | |___________________________________________________________________________| Defeat General - Goal Completed! Hmmmm, Cactos couldn't have just like, punched the General into the lava? Wow, what a waste. .------------. --' Nice Work! '-------------------------------------------------------------- 10/10 meteor chunks 3/3 collectables Total: 61/81 meteor chunks 29/38 collectables ============================================================================== Log Village Villainy [0408] ============================================================================== Once you gain control of Pax, use Will of Spores to lower the leaves in front of you. Open the container past them for a sparkler, then continue forward. Take the flimsy ramp made of popsicle sticks. You should probably spot the bright green glow of a meteorite chunk as you make your ascent. At the top of the ramp, go forward and climb the boxes to snag it [1/10]. Go across the bridge and take the turtle egg, which is to the right of the Deermint gum [1/4]. Fall down to the ground and head through the eastern tunnel. The very bottom of the path leads to a high wall, which you cannot reach from the floor. Stand on the second leaf, then cap glide to reach the high ledge. Open the container for an engagement ring and drop down. Use Will of Spores on the plant eyeball to open up a path in the previous area. Head back to the popsicle stick ramp and proceed towards the open leaves. Break open... whatever those things are that are in your way, then continue through the tunnel. When you reach the pond up ahead, you'll be attacked by a swarm of hornets. Equip a Slashing weapon and use an aerial attack to finish them off. Jump across the lily pads to the left to find a capsule containing tweezers. Next, scale the large rock structure to your right. Ignore the leaves on the side for now and walk across the rock to find another capsule. Open it for a soda can tab. Return to the leaves and jump across each one to find a meteorite chunk on the final one [2/10]. Standing on this leaf also gives you a nice bird's-eye view of the surrounding area. Cap glide onto the watering can in the middle of the pond and sneak inside it to find a turtle egg [2/4]. Jump back on top of the watering can. Look across at the wall above where you entered. There is a small hole in the center of the log wall. Stand on the handle of the watering can and cap glide over to it. Collect the meteorite chunk inside [3/10]. Glide to the leaf on your right, then use Will of Spores on the leaf above it and to the right. This one will act like an elevator of sorts, so ride it to a nearby leaf. Jump to the next one and use Will of the Spores to be catapulted up the side of the wall. Jump across to the two darkened leaves and use Will of Spores on the leaf across from the hole to your left. Jump to it, then hop to the leaf past it instead of the hole in the wall. Use the leaf to launch yourself upwards, then continue across the trio of leaves for another meteorite chunk [4/10]. Fall down into the hole in the wall and move on for a scene. Find the Lepiota - Goal Completed! Hm, is this another mushroom race? Interesting. Like the Amanitas, there are three main classes. The Scouts carry pea pods and the Heavies wield sticks with live bugs attached to the end. Sages... well, we have yet to encounter one at this point. Defeat the Lepiotas and go to the left. The Amanitas on the ground are playing dead, so attack 'em before they can surprise you. You'll find a turtle egg just past the first "dead" Amanita [3/4]. Clear the room of enemies and you will soon reach another small cave entrance. Jump through for a cutscene. After Pester disappears, go to the right of the mushroom walls. Follow the dark and narrow path to a dead end containing a meteorite chunk [5/10]. Backtrack, then jump onto the nearby ledge. Go around the mushrooms sticking from the floor and jump onto the rock. Giant red worms pop out of the holes in the walls, flutter around, then retreat. You can kill these baddies before they pop out to get you, but avoiding them is just as easy. Jump to the first wormhole and glide over the mushroom wall. It's actually possible to stand on top of the thin mushroom wall, making traversing past the wormholes null and void. Once you get past the third wall, drop down on the other side to find a meteorite chunk in the corner [6/10]. Hop up to the mushrooms on the right and run past the three wormholes to reach the far side. Proceed around the mushrooms down here to reach a dead end. With Pester cornered, he floods the chamber and escapes. Once you regain control of Pax, jump out of the water onto shore. Search behind the birdhouse for a capsule and take the rotary blade inside. Jump onto the birdhouse, then over the ledge through a small hole to reach the other room. Alternatively, head back into the water and jump through the hole near the fungi. Snag the meteorite chunk lying next to your [7/10] and move forward towards the mound of dirt. Wood chips will fall from the ceiling and land on this pile (particularly on top of the crushed soda can). When the wood chips stop raining from above, jump onto the soda can and glide to the right before they start up again. Again, jump onto the soda can here when the coast is clear and hop over to the box in the corner. To the left is the third soda can pile, but to the right is a dirt ledge in which you can crawl across along the side of the wall. Do so and climb up to the very top. Stand on the mound of junk, which is overlooking the waterlogged chamber where we found the rotary blade. Look to the right (on the far side of the junk) to spot a large wooden barrel of sorts. Cap glide over to it to find the final turtle egg on top [4/4]. Return to the second soda can/wood chip pile and jump over to the box. Instead of gliding to the third pile, you can go around the back of the box to reach it. Jump onto the crushed soda can, then to the top of the box. Look above you on the side of the wooden box to find a "VOTE" sticker. Sticky Hand up to it for another cutscene with Pester. Let Pester escape. Turn around and jump on the wooden cylinder. Walk on top of the foggy green stuff and head towards the wall. Leap onto the blue glowing vine and look across the area to the other side. There is a wooden structure and a license plate against the wall. Look for the hole in the side and the distinct green glow emanating from it. Yep, you know what's up. On the side of the wooden thing is a "VOTE" sticker. Use Sticky Hand on it, then jump to the top. Walk forwards towards the lisence plate sticking up. The hole on the side of the structure is to your left. While it's tricky, all you have to do is drop and slowly glide inside the tiny hole. Inside is the meteorite [8/10]. It's also possible to glide back to the slope where Pester disappeared off to if you jump out of the hole. Either way, return to where you viewed the cutscene. Follow the tunnel past the mushrooms sticking out of the ground. You should find a meteorite chunk in plain view along the way [9/10]. At the end, climb up the obnoxiously tall shaft via the mushrooms for a boss fight. Before you concentrate on the boss, hug the left side of the area and continue around the perimeter to eventually find a meteorite in a small alcove [10/10]. .-----------------------. | BOSS: Snapping Turtle | |-----------------------'---------------------------------------------------. | His name is not Neal? My bad... :( He'll always be known as Neal in my | | heart! Anyways, this poor guy has been corrupted by Pester and can't help | | himself. There are patches of spores on each of his legs. To start things | | off, use Will of Spores on the snapper's two front legs. Don't get too | | close to the turtle, or he'll stomp his feet and knock you backwards. | | | | Hornets will be buzzing around in the boss's chamber. They are quite | | annoying, so kill any that get near you. They also drop spore goo, which | | can be a saving grace if you're dying. All you need to watch out for in | | this fight or hornets and the turtle whenever he stomps the ground. | | | | Run behind Mr. Snapping Turtle and use Will of Spores on his two hind | | legs. Doing so isn't too difficult if you use rolling jumps. I mean, he | | is a turtle after all. Once all four patches of spores disappear, a huge | | mound grows on the boss's head. Destroy all three pieces as he tries to | | scratch it off to make some more growths appear on his legs again. | | | | Yet again, use Will of Spores to destroy the spores on the turtle's legs. | | This time they will be on the back of his legs, which could make them a | | bit harder to target. Plus, the boss moves much faster now. Okay, use | | Will of Spores to destroy the final spores to finish the battle. | |___________________________________________________________________________| Heal the Turtle - Goal Completed! Now that our turtle friend has been purified, he will thank Pax by giving him a ride. The two dive into the watery hole to complete the level. .------------. --' Nice Work! '-------------------------------------------------------------- 10/10 meteor chunks 4/4 collectables Total: 71/81 meteor chunks 33/38 collectables ============================================================================== The Trailer [0409] ============================================================================== As the level begins, start destroying all the piles of food, from the chinese food boxes to the well, piles of food! Cockroaches will continuously spawn from these locations if you leave them untouched. Since we don't have any pieces to build a rocket, we can ignore the launch pad for now. Scale the television using the "VOTE" sticker to find a pewter figurine, then drop back down. Facing the container (or where it was), glide down to the pink ledge and destroy the food here. Collect the meteorite in the corner [1/10]. You might as well continue around the ledge, destroying all of the cockroach generators. Once on the opposite side of the room, drop down onto the pizza box and open the capsule for electrical wire. Float to the floor and continue destroying food and chinese food boxes. Man, this guy sure does love chinese takeout! Once that's over with, use the stack of records to reach the top of the crate for a srange, small skull [1/5]. Jump in the open cabinet and go to the right. Break open the RPG Joes box to find some rocket duct tape. Rocket Duct Tape - Goal Completed! Go to the other end and use the leaf to shoot up to the side of the ledge. Proceed across and take the meteorite chunk [2/10] before jumping across the leaf to the adjascent ledge. Go to the right to spot a container on the ledge to the right. Jump over to it to find a marble, then return here again. Break the hive after jumping up the wall, then hop to the top of the counter. Walk to the left towards the VCR. Ahh, ancient technology. Take the strange, small skull that's lying between the pizza box and the VCR [2/5]. There's nothing of importance beyond the VCR, so turn back. Head the other way towards the toolboard and move the first one with Sporekinesis. Jump on it and continue moving the tools to create a staircase. Note that you can move them back to their original place by using Sporekinesis again. When you reach the ledge, jump over and enter the hole. Use Sticky Hand on the bottle peeking out of the hole in the ceiling. Kill the mice scurrying around and open the RPG Joes box for a rocket chassis. Rocket Chassis - Goal Completed! Run through the next hole and around the cylinder to find a meteorite chunk in the corner [3/10]. Before sneaking into the hole in the cylinder, return to the previous room. Use Sticky Hand to go through the hole in the ceiling, then go behind the Crunchy Puffs!! cereal to find both a meteorite chunk [4/10] and a strange, small skull [3/5]. Go back down through the hole and return to the cylindrical object. Use Will of Spores on the Kudzu here. You'll be taken over to the stove via the Kudzu Express. Naturally, don't get any ideas about jumping into the pot of boiling water. Clear out the food spills on the stove and walk over to the sink. Flip the switch on the wall to turn on the garbage disposal, then flick it off once you see a meteorite chunk pop out. Jump in and take it [5/10]. Pass by the toaster and open the lunchbox to find the rocket engines. Rocket Engines - Goal Completed! Flip the switch on the side of the toaster, then jump on top to get shot up into a cabinet high above. Unorthodox, but it worked! Defeat the giant ant (well it's not giant, you're just really small) that comes out from the hole, then use Sticky Hand on the bottle through the hole in the ceiling. Take down the two ants here as well, then collect the rocket nozzles. Rocket Nozzles - Goal Completed! From where the nozzles stood, Sticky Hand through the hole on the ceiling and exit the cabinet. Slay the two ants and open the capsule for an egg holder. Don't fall through the mesh just yet; examine the hole in the cabinet first. Stand on the very edge and move the camera to the left side of the room. There is a meteorite chunk on an old, crusty pizza box. Float over to it [6/10]. Glide over to the box and destroy the piles of food. Kill any spiders and hornets that bug you (oh man I'm golden) and hop up to the box above you. Take the 9-Volt Battery in the capsule; you can now build the PAAZapper Prod! From the very edge of the box, face the blue windowsill. Perform a rolling jump, then glide over to the top of the curtains. If you miss it, you can glide onto the leaf between the box and the windowsill. Destroy the two hives and collect the meteorite chunk [7/10]. There is another meteorite in which you can get right now. It is on a ledge directly below your position. Stand where you got the meteorite, then fall down the edge of the ledge. Start gliding and when you reach underneath the ledge, float towards the ledge [8/10]. From here, fall down onto the counter across from the sink. You can mess around with the robotic hand for fun, but there's no use for it (for now). Open the capsule for a laser pointer and the box for rocket a wing. Rocket Wing - Goal Completed! The Necromancer shows up and conjured an army of dead Amanitas. You don't even have to kill any of them right now; your main target is the Lepiota Necromancer. Use Sporekinesis on the drill hanging up to knock him off of the ledge. He will fight you down here as well, but you cannot hurt him. Instead, use Sporekinesis to trigger the robotic hand, crushing the necromancer. Defeat the Lepiota Necromancer - Goal Completed! Between the counter you're on and the counter with the toaster is a pile of trash. As unpleasant as it may sound, fall down into it. Break the piles of garbage to find a strange, small skull [4/5]. Take down the cockroaches and spiders until you reach the floor. Continue destroying the enemy generators here. In the corner of the room past the doggy door is a container; break it open for a doorstopper. Now to get to the launch pad. Walk over to the garbage can (next to the smelly sneakers) and step on the little foot pad. It'll shoot you on top of the trash can. Stand on the red contraption and position yourself on the pedestal to the right. Flip the switch to be catapulted onto a box. Use Sticky Hand on the "VOTE" sticker above you to reach the box where you found the 9-Volt Battery. Fall down on the other side of the box to end up at the launch pad. Build your lil' makeshift rocket. It rides good, but you need to work on the landing. Sheesh... Climb out of the toilet and onto the ground. Destroy all of the food piles and pick up the strange, small skull from off of the ground behind the sink [5/5]. Use Will of Spores on the leaf near the fuzzy rug to shoot up into the shower. Fall into the bottom and use Sporekinesis on the plug to plug up the drain. As the shower begins to flood, use Will of Spores on the leaves here. Why are there leaves growing here in a shower anyways... ? When you reach the Kudzu elevator, use him to transport you over to the towel rack. Jump to the soap stand, then climb up the brush and the soap to another leaf. Use it to catapult you up onto a rack, where you will find yet another meteorite chunk [9/10]. From here, cap glide all the way across the bathroom to the top of the toilet, where you will find the final meteorite chunk [10/10]. You have now unlocked Radical! Ammo! Hop into the sink and ride the Kudzu elevator to the bright white light. - - - Pax finally faces off against Pester. Well, kind of. Pax will drop down onto the floor; at the feet of the dreaded... ROBOT WIFE! You'll be confronted by... yep. Evil chihuahua. Like this game honestly could not have been done without an evil chihuahua. This little freak will immediately spot Pax and rip him up like a chew toy. Fortunately, there are plenty of those on the ground. Pick up a chew toy and fling it as far away from you as possible to distract the dog. Run over to the cardboard box on the left and climb the stack of VHS tapes. Pester will shoot fireballs at you from above; dodge them and use Sporekinesis on the latch on the wall to lower the ironing board. Climb up as he teleports to another location. Use Sporekinesis on the toy robot for a scene. Climb up onto the robot wife's lap. Smack Pester after the confrontation for him to teleport onto a shelf. .--------------. | BOSS: Pester | |--------------'------------------------------------------------------------. | At the start of the fight, Pester will stay on the outskirts while you're | | left to deal with other hazards. He'll sick some Lepiotas on Pax for a | | while, then shoot projectiles down at you. Like the Jackalope fight, | | catch them in midair with Sporekinesis and toss them back at him. He will | | teleport to another shelf while more Lepiotas are summoned. | | | | Once they're finished, focus on Pester (look for the green smog emitted | | from his body). This time, he will throw two projectiles. Catch the first | | one, then move to the side to avoid the second's explosion. Repeat this a | | second time to make more Lepiotas appear. Again, kill them and focus on | | Pester. Remember that dying doesn't really matter in this game, as you'll | | appear on robot wife's lap if you do. | | | | Now Pester hurls three projectiles at you. Catch the first, avoid the | | last two, then throw it back at him. When Pester teleports down onto the | | lap, continue attacking him while avoiding the trio of projectiles. When | | Pester teleports in front of the robot wife's vacuum arm, use | | Sporekinesis on it to have him be sucked inside. | | | | Pester lands on top of the TV and continues the next stage. This one is | | very easy. Avoid Pester's fireballs and destroy the three orange support | | beams. All you have to do is destroy them with any weapon type. They | | regenerate at a pretty quick rate, so you'll have to be quicker. Once | | that's done with, the final stage of the battle starts. The REAL battle. | | | | Alrighty, a good ol' fashioned swordfight! Right? I guess. Pester only | | uses melee attacks in this fight, which range from spin kicks to overhead | | slams. They are all to be treated the same way: block. All of his attacks | | can be blocked without taking any damage whatsoever. And if you die, Pax | | will be revived at this stage of the fight anyways. | | | | If you want to play by the rules, take your strongest/favorite weapon and | | start the duel. It's always fun using the Space Gunn because it looks | | like a lightsaber, but the Thor Stopper is another good one. Use a three- | | hit combo, block, and repeat. Once Pester starts seeping green goo blood, | | the time has come to deliver the finishing blow. Normal strikes will not | | hurt him, so use Spore Punisher to finish the fight. Of course, you can | | also use the PAAZapper and its unlimited ammo to finish him off, too. | |___________________________________________________________________________| Well, that's the end. Not only enjoy the credits, but PLAY the credits too! .------------. --' Nice Work! You cannot see | | them due to them being offscreen, and there isn't even a shadow on the | | ground to help notify you when a boulder is coming. Once you see the boss | | fling his hind legs in the air, get ready to roll. If you need health, | | return to the infected plant and sap away its spore goo. When it withers | | up, then you're on your own. | | | | You must target the four ropes nailed into the ground. Attack the blue | | nail to release the rope. Roll between the boulder (or destroy them with | | airborne attacks before they land on top of you) as you unearth each | | nail. Once the ropes are cut loose, Old King Mole will meet his demise. | |___________________________________________________________________________| .-----------------. | |___________________________________________________________________________| .---------------. | |___________________________________________________________________________| .-----------------------. | |___________________________________________________________________________| .-----------------------. | |___________________________________________________________________________| .--------------. | |___________________________________________________________________________| ______________________________________________________________________________ [6] GEAR [0600] ______________________________________________________________________________ Each weapon has its own five-star rating. These items can be found in a multitude of ways. Arguably the most common way is by defeating enemies. You can also harvest spore goo a few other ways: Infected Plants - Infected plants are tall clusters of foliage covered in glowing spores. Attacking them releases several pieces of spore goo. The number of spore goo ranges from four to six. Infected Animals - These corpses are covered in patches of green spores. Like the plants, they can drop spore goo when hit, though they drop only two to three pieces of spore goo. Spore Containers - Spore containers are small bulbs that grow bright green. You can find a single piece of spore goo inside after breaking it open. .------------------. --' Meteorite Chunks '-------------------------------------------------------- These green glowing pieces of a rogue meteor will increase Pax's health and strength. There are meteorite chunks found in every level, and you can view the meteorite counter in the Goals menu to see how many are in each level and how many you've got. Your Wii Remote will rumble when nearing a meteorite chunk, indicating that one is very close by. .--------------. --' Collectibles '------------------------------------------------------------ Collectibles are scattered through each level and range from different items, from rabbit's feet to shiny (but useless!) yellow rocks. You will unlock gallery art upon finding these collectibles and like meteorite chunks, you can view a counter for these collectibles in the Goals menu. .------. ---' Scav '------------------------------------------------------------------- Scav are various household items that can be used to construct weapons. Scav are always found in colorful plastic containers; like the ones seen in vending machines and such. Crack it open to obtain the scav. Scav can be used over and over to build weapons, so it's not like they can be used up or replaced. .------. --' Ammo '-------------------------------------------------------------------- Radical! weapons require their own ammo, and they are often found scattered through various levels in large quantities. They take the form of batteries or small cans of fuel or oil. ______________________________________________________________________________ [8] MINIGAMES [0800] ______________________________________________________________________________ You can access the minigames in the Gallery (which is found in the Options menu). These games are not featured in the main game, though you can record the high scores and just have a bit of harmless fun if you're getting tired of collecting items and defeating enemies. .----------------. --' Morel Mine Car '---------------------------------------------------------- If my memory serves me, this minigame is similar to the hacking minigame in BioShock. You are given a sheet of tiles as five random pieces are shown on the bottom of the screen. There are several types of pieces: _____ _____ _ _ Corner Pieces - | ___| |___ | | | | | | | | | | |___ ___| | |_| |_| |_____| |_____| _ Straight Pieces - | | ______ You must use the Wii Remote and the A | | |______| button to drag and place these pieces |_| on the tiles, ultimately forming a path for the Morel mine cart. Upon using a _ pieces, another one will appear in its Cross Piece - | | place. If you are without an essential ___| |___ piece, place random pieces on unused places |___ ___| on the board in hope that the one you are | | looking for appears. |_| As soon as you place the first piece, the mine cart will begin rolling, so you better build him a path or else it's game over! If the mine cart goes off the track, then it's game over. Use the pieces you have to build a line from start to finish! There are three difficulties, wich the game board increasing as the difficulty goes up, to try out so you can really test your mad track-building skillz. .------------. --' Spore Jump '-------------------------------------------------------------- Spore Jump is a fairly strange game; I didn't even know how to play for the first few minutes of trying the game out. I have had people tell me that it's similar to Chinese Checkers, but I would not know considering how I have never played Chinese Checkers before. Essentially, you are given a board divided up into square spaces. You must use the spore goo placed on each piece to "jump". Like checkers, a piece can jump over a piece (remove it from the game) by leaping over it and onto an empty, adjascent space. It's easier to explain with an ASCII diagram, but ignore the fact that the diagram features squares instead of diamonds like in the game. END START _____ _____ _____ Note how your piece is directly next to an opposing | | | | piece. You can jump this piece and remove it from the | X | O | O | game as you land on the space on the opposite side |_____|_____|_____| of the eliminated piece (the "X"). Unlike conventional | checkers games, you cannot double jump pieces. ^-----------' The object of Spore Jump is to remove all pieces of spore goo except one. Like Morel Mine Cart, there are three difficulties. The board and number of pieces increase as the difficulty goes up, so see how many pieces you can remove! .--------. --' Memory '------------------------------------------------------------------ I probably shouldn't have to explain the concept of this game, but I'll take a stab at it anyways. Memory is a game featured paired cards. The cards are flipped over. With each turn, you can flip over two cards. If the two cards are a match, then they are taken out of the game and you receive five points. If the two cards are not paired, then you lose one point and the cards are flipped back over. Like the name implies, you must memorize the location of the cards so you can pair each of them up. The game ends when all cards have been paired up, and your score will be tallied up. There are three difficulties, and the number of cards increases as the difficulty goes up. .----------. --' Pachinko '---------------------------------------------------------------- Here is another game that I'm not too familiar with, though it's definitely interesting. You are given control of a piece of spore goo on top of the screen. Below is a tall wall covered in many wooden pegs. At the bottom of the wall are slots, each with their own point total. The main premise is to grab the spore goo with A and drop it down the wall into one of the slots. You will earn the number of points described in the slot that it lands. However, every time the spore goo hits a peg, your total score is multiplied by 10%. In short, try to hit as many pegs as you can as the spore goo travels down the wall. Keep in mind that the percentage is multiplied onto your final score (the number on the slot that the goo lands in), so try to avoid the slot marked "0" or else you'll get jack. You start off with six pieces of spore goo, though sometimes you will receive an extra by earning enough points. After all of your spore goo is gone, your score will be totaled up. Pachinko has no difficulty level. .----------. --' Catapult '---------------------------------------------------------------- Catapult is another neat minigame. It's also a two-player game if you want a friend to tag along. In this minigame, you take control of a catapult as you try and defend your turf against the evil Amanita tribe. These mushroom warriors appear at the top of the screen and move in a zig-zag formation like the lil' dudes from Space Invaders. If an Amanita reaches the teal portal at the bottom of the screen (between both catapults), you lose. You aim the catapult by moving the Wii Remote pointer, and you can fire projectiles by holding down A, then releasing. As you hold down A, pull the Wii Remote towards you to "pull back" on the catapult. The more you pull back, the farther the projectile travels. You have an unlimited amount of projectiles, so spend all the time you like killing Amanitas. The Amanita Heavies are slow and big, who only warrant 10 points, and the fast Scouts are worth 25 points. Alternatively, scoring a direct hit will net you 50 points, regardless on which type of enemy you downed. Defeating each enemy completes the level. As the levels increase, the number of Amanitas appear, as well as hazards like immobile mushrooms that can block your shots. ______________________________________________________________________________ [9] THANKS/CREDITS [0900] ______________________________________________________________________________ Of course, this guide couldn't have been made without some extra help.
