Legal [LE00] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction [IN00] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Making History: The Calm & The Storm is a World War II simulation game by Muzzy Lane, it is a pretty good & challenging game. It has many good features some of them are: 1. It is pretty detailed. For example, it's nation is very detailed, it has the nation historical economy, military, and even status quo. The territories is so detailed it even has the population number. In fact, this game is already used by some school to help learn about WWII 2. You can play as any nation. You can play as the world's major powers at that time, or even play as your country 3. Accurate & adaptive scenarios. The Scenarios (The original, not a mod) is very accurate, for example, if you play as a minor nation and watch the major powers actions, you will see that they accurately follow the real one The scenarios is also adaptive, if you for example, attack the US they will break their isolationist policy and the other nations will follow 4. Good trading system The trading system is quite good. You can import or export goods, or (if you're lazy like me) you can offer or request in the world market You can also request or offer aid to other nation. This doesn't always work, it depends on your country status quo (i'll explain it later) 5. Great military options In this game you can use an impressive list of troops, tanks, or artilleries (each have an accurate model depending on the nation) You can use it to attack or defend a territory. Your army can also be reinforced by your planes, or even your allies. This is so complex I can't explained it now, i'll explain it later (I haven't even told you about the navy) I really recommend you to play this game, by playing it you can study World War II without even knowing it (like I did) Even without the education aspect (which I and most of you tend to ignore), this game is pretty challenging anyway -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Main Menu [MM00] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The main menu consists of this: -Single Player [MM01] This is the place to go if you want to play by yourself against the computer You can play with the original scenarios here or a fanmade one If you want to really study history, you better play in single player because there will be no other player who wil upset the balance of the world -Multiplayer [MM02] If you want to have some fun by battling your friends (or just want to conquer the world together) choose multiplayer Sure you can't really study history with you and your friends upsetting the balance of the world, but hey most of us don't like to study anyway After you clicked the multiplayer button you will see this: *Host New You host a new scenario where you and your friends can play together *Join Join a game that is hosted by your friends *Game Server In here you can start a new multiplayer game using a game server -Tutorial [MM03] This is the tutorial. If you want to learn to properly learn the game you can use it. But I don't really recommend you to use it because it takes a long time to finish (30 minutes) It doesn't really help either (I've used it but still can't play, I instead learn from experience) But, it's your choice. -Load Saved Game [MM04] The name says it all You can load a saved game to continue playing -Options [MM05] You can change your game config in here The options include this Tabs: ~System options This is the place to change your own settings (it doesn't affect your friends, with the exception of player name) This include: *Player name Type your name and let the world know their soon to be conqueror (also seen by your friends in multiplayer) *Graphic Performance Change how beautiful your models look This includes: +Shadows Turn the shadows on and let your enemy knows the signal of their imminent doom (Turning this option off will let the game run faster) +Unit Models You can choose from full set (Nearly all nation troops' have their own uniform, tank models, etc) (Require the most memory) large set (Choose from a large set of model) medium set (Choose from a medium set of model) or low set (Display the smallest set of unit models) (Recommend for PCs with minimal memory) +Smoke Whether you are a smoker or not, it always look cool to have some smoke in the battlefield You can turn this option on or off *Screen Resolution You can change your screen resolution here The available screen resolution is 1024x768, 1280x800, & 1280x1024 *Music In my opinion, the soundtrack is quite boring. If you agree with me you can turn this option off and play your own music If you like the music, then turn this option on, it's your choice, not mine Note: If you turn the music off, you can't hear the anthems of the various nations *Fullscreen mode In here you can turn the fullscreen mode on or off Note: The change will take effect once you restart the game. ~Network settings Change the network settings, so you can play a multiplayer game with your friend This includes: *Keep Alive You can change this option from 1 to 10 seconds The default is 1 second *Timeout You can change this option from 0 to beyond 60 seconds The default is 10 seconds *Retransmits You can change this option from 0 to beyond 100 The default is 40 *Time slice You can change this option from 1 ms to beyond 30 ms The default is 10 ms *Window You can change this option from 8 to beyond 30 The default is 8 *Bundle size You can change this option from 1 kb to beyond 30 kb The default is 10 kb *Bundle Delay You can change this option from 10 ms to beyond 300 ms The default is 100 ms -Credits [MM06] Honor the makers of the game by going to the Credits and worship their names -Exits [MM07] Exits the game Are you sure you want to use this one? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Choosing a scenario [CS00] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Either you play in single player or multiplayer you will still need to choose a scenario. A scenario is a re-enactment of the world in World War II For example you can play as the Nazi as they are rising or even in their downfall, in the respective scenario For the scholars, the Scenarios is quite helpful when you want to study a spesific part of WW II For the gamers, the Scenarios is useful to determine your favorite nation's power or territories in WW II (A good example is German) Start playing [CS01] After you select Single Player or Multiplayer you will see the Scenario list 1. Selecting scenario Select one scenario of your choosing & click load scenario 2. The list of nations after loading the scenario you can choose from a list of nations Will you conquer the world as Germany? isolate yourself as the US? or even start the global Communist Revolution as the USSR? It's your choice. Note: In the newer edition of the game you can play as any minor nation of your choosing To do this, click change under the Blank country (there should be "none" written above the change button), & choose the nation you want to play 3. Change your scenario options I'll explain this later 4. Click Start Game Scenario Options [CS02] In here you can change the scenario options to let you win the game easier This includes: -Victory Conditions Change the way you like to win the game This includes: ~Alliance Power Points If you want to conquer the world along with your allies, choose this one The Alliance with the most power points at the end of the game wins I recommend this one ~Ideology Power Points If you want the world to follow your ideology, choose this one The Ideology with the most power points at the end of the game wins This one is quite easy to win especially if you play as a democratic nation ~Nation Power Points If you want to conquer the world just for your nation, choose this one The Nation with the most power points at the end of the game wins This one is quite difficult for beginners -Turn Timer You can turn this option on or off -Domination Victory You can turn this option on or off, and also change the required percentage The victory depends on your victory condition, & the required percentage For example, if you choose Alliance Power Points & 90%, you will win once your Alliance dominate 90% of the world Thus this option is quite useful if you don't want to wait for the game to end to see who's the winner -Save Turn History You can turn this option on or off If you turn this on, you will save all turns, allowing restarts & walktroughs from any turn -Autosave You can turn this option on or off If you turn this on your game will autosave your playtrough, even you don't save yourself Note: Don't depend on the autosave all the time, if you play another scenario without saving properly, the autosave will be replace with the new scenario And you can't load your game (You will have to start over) -Partisans (Only in the newer editions) Once you play the game and conquer other nation territories, you sometime forget (or didn't have the mean) to place at least one unit in a territory If a conquered territory is empty (there is no unit there), a partisan will shows up, reclaiming the land for original nation This is a blessing for a conquered nation, but a curse for the invaders I tend to turn this option off, you will see why once you play this game -Difficulty Level Want to play against a five year old kid, or even against an AI that is smarter than the original generals? You can change it all here You can change the difficulty from easiest to hardest -Fogging You can turn this option on or off Turning this option on will greatly enhance the realism List of Scenarios (Gold edition Scenarios included) [CS03] 1. The Rise of The Reich Play the world when Hitler just became Chancellor of Germany 2. The Limits of Peace Play as your favorite nation and help the Republic or Nationalist Spain in their civil war 3. The Politics of Appeasement Play as any nation and help the Czechs as they are attacked by German (or even attack them when you are playing German) Note: No matter what you do, Do not play as Czechoslovakia if you are planning to play more than 5 turns 4. The End of Diplomacy Play as the German and attack Danzig and Poland 5. Steps to a Global War Germany has defeated France, with Germany's eastern flank protected by The Soviet, even Britain is threatened 6. The World at War Play the as your favorite nation as the world draws closer an all-consuming battle Will you join the Allies or the Axis? 7. The Conclusion of the War The Axis has nearly been defeated with the UK, US, & USSR united But shared enemies do not guarantee shared goals, what will you do to lead the world? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game Interface [GI00] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Moving & selecting [GI01] Moving -Use the mini map By clicking anywhere in the minimap, the game will instantly take you there (well not really instantly, depends on your PC speed) Note: if you click your country's flag in the upper right the game will take you to your country's capital -Use the keyboard You can use the keyboard to move around, zooming, and other stuff But you I don't really recommend it (Trust me, it's a real pain) -Using the mouse Ah, the mouse, what will we do without you? the mouse is so helpful I even named my mouse, Jeffrey Only works in Fullscreen mode You can use the mouse to move around by moving your mouse to the edge of the screen You can also move the mouse wheel to zoom in or out I really recommend you to use the mouse instead of the keyboard, it's a lot easier Selecting -Selecting objects Select any cities, battles, or any other stuff that you can click on by left clicking them -Selecting nations You can select a nation by right clicking in one of their regions and choosing Select Nation Alternatively, you can double in one of their regions Types of maps [GI02] You can change your type of map by selecting them under the minimap The default & the most important map is the Operational map 1. Operational map Icon: Two swords making an X This is the most important map, you can attack, develop your cities or any other stuffs in here 2. World Summary map Icon: A Flag This map gives you a big picture of the world, including a nation's regions Note: A conquered region's color will be changed to the conqueror's color instead of the original owner's color 3. Diplomatic map Icon: A Star (I'm not talking about astrology) In this map you will see the Alliances in the world Each alliance will be represented by their leaders' color Nations that is not in an alliance will be represented with the earth land color You can also look at the alliances score in this map If you play with the victory condition of Alliance Power Points you better go to this map often 4. Ideology map Icon: A Pillar (Yes, a pillar. And yes, I also think this is weird) In this map you can see the Ideologies of the worlds, and the nations whos shares that ideologies If you play with the victory condition of Ideology Power Points you better go to this map often 5. Trade Map Icon: A ship with a globe in the back You can see which nation is embargoed 6. In Supply Map Icon: A helmet with two rifles crossed in the background This map will shows you a supplied region for a nation that you select Occupied and enemy regions is "out of supply" If an invader mange to cut a nation territories from their capital it will also be "out of supply" Any army fighting in an out of supply map, will fight at a quarter of their original power This map is very important for strategy, i'll explain it later 7. Terrain Map You can see the train of the regions around the world This map is useful to determine where to attack, build, develop infrastructure and other stuffs 8. Transportation Level Map You can see the transportation level of the regions around the world Note: The higher the level of transportation, the faster troops will march 9. Fortification Level Map You can see the Fortification level of the regions around the world Note: The higher the level of fortification, the harder it is to attack that region 10. Agriculture Level Map You can see the Fortification level of the regions around the world Note: If you have a region that has a high agriculture level, the productivity in that region will be multiplied The Info Bar [GI03] The Info bar is located from the upper left to the upper middle This includes: -Date The date isn't very important to gameplay -Turns Shows your current turn & the final turn. -Season The seasons do effects gameplay It effects many things including troops movement & combat Note: If you could, do not invade in the winter, it will greatly reduce movement -Transport Capacity Stockpile This shows how many transports you have Transport is needed to move your units across the water Transport can be building them in a port city, or forcing a nation to surrender to you -Stockpiles & Supply rates for all supplies This shows how much supply you have & it's supply rate For example, you good supplies is 5000/-250, this means that you have 5000 goods in the stockpile and every turn your goods will -Turn Timer (If turned on in the option) The Turn timer shows how much time you have spent in the current turn Panels [GI04] This includes (Listed from left to right): 1. Turn Summary Panel This panel shows you your score and also reports about international or national events This includes: ~Victory Condition In here you can see your victory condition, your rank, and also your score Remember if your rank is too low you have to increase it If you click this button you will see the scenario scoring ~Production Report In here you will see how many cities that is idle and your total number of cities You can also see your IPU output here If you click this button you can inspect and revise your cities production ~Research In here you can see how many IPUs you assigned for research & also how many IPUs demand there is If you click this button you will be taken to the research projects window where you can research more technology ~World Market In here you can see what items are available in the world market If you click this button it will take you to the World Market window where you can revise your imports & exports ~Financial Reports In here you will see your financial reports from the last turn If you click this button it take you the Financial Reports window where it will show you a more detailed report with a nice pie chart ~Penalties In here you will be shown your goods shortages, financial deficits, food & arms shortages, and also their effect for your nation ~Combat Report, International Events, & National Events +Combat Report In here you will be shown the battle your troops participate in and whether they are winning or not +International Events In here you can see what the other nations are doing +National Events In here you can see how is your country doing 2. Building an army: You can build an army from any cities you control Just order any of your cities to produce your desired units You can also set the rally point for a city, this will automatically order your troops to move to the rally point 2. Building a fleet: You can only build a fleet in a port city Just order a port city to produce the ship you desired After it has been completed the ship will hang around in the port until you told it to leave 3. Building a squadron of planes: You can build a squadron just like you build an army Just order any of your cities to produce your desired planes Unlike an army however, you can't set it's rally point Developing your nation [DV02] 1. Increase your cities IPUs You can increase your cities by ordering them to produce " Industries" For example, you have a city with an IPUs of 50, and it's infrastructure is advanced to increase that city IPUs you have to order it to produce "Advanced Industries" Remember, increasing you cities IPUs is VERY IMPORTANT The higher your cities IPUs the faster it is to make an army or produce goods It will also add to your nation score as industrial points 2. Upgrading an infrastructure of a city You can upgrade an infrastructure of a city by increasing its IPUs Once the required IPUs is fulfilled you can upgrade it by ordering a city to produce "Upgrade Industries" This the list of Infrastructure and its minimum & maximum IPUs: -PreIndustrial: 1-10 IPUs -Industrial: 10-50 IPUs -Advanced: 50-~ IPUs This means that the required IPUs to upgrade your city from PreIndustrial to Industrial is 10 IPUs Note that once your cities infrastructure is advanced, you can't upgrade it further, but you can increase its IPUs as high as you want Remember, you need to have a higher infrastructure to produce more advanced technology For example, you can produce conscripts from a PreIndustrial cities and highers, but can only produce advanced tanks from an advanced city 3. Developing Infrastructure You can develop your regional infrastructure, which includes food production, fortification & Transportation Infrastructure To develop your regional infrastructure you in the infrastructure button in the Economic panel Alternatively, you can select the region you want to develop and click upgrade (There is no difference from using the other method & this one is boring) There is some benefits from developing your regional infrastructure This is the list of benefits: -Developing food production If you develop food production you will (obviously) produce more food each turn It will also give you a productivity multiplier which means that you will produce much faster -Developing Fortification If you develop a region's fortification, it will give you a defense bonus when you are defending that region It will also give you anti air defense in the region -Developing Transportation Infrastructure If you develop a region's transportation infrastructure, it will give you a movement bonus Which means your troops will move much faster in from (or to) that region It will also give you a resource production bonus 4. Developing resource producer You can resource producers output by selecting the infrastructure button in the economic panel Alternatively, you can select the resource you want to develop and change it's production order (There is no difference from using the other method & this one is boring) If you increase (or even maximize) your output, you will have to use more labor & pay more maintenance On the other hand, the more resource you have, the more you can sell in the world market, and the more to produce your army of doom 5. Researching You can research more projects by selecting research from the Domestic panel Remeber, every research needs IPUs assigned to it to advance To assign more IPUs, select a city and order it to produce "Research" If you research technology intensively, and abandon your army, you can have a technological superiority Imagine that you have an advanced infantry with a machine gun complemented with good armor while your enemy still have a basic infantry armed with a cheap rifle and no armor On the other hand, instead of focusing your IPUs on research, you can build more low technology troops Imagine again the advanced infantry vs the basic infantry While fighting 1-on-1 the advanced infantry will win, but how about 1 advanced infantry vs 100 basic infantry? The choice is yours 6. Liberating a nation When you capture a region you should look at the region's culture If the region's culture is not part of your national culture than your production output will be low The region's infrastructure can also be downgraded because of this Because of this, it is sometimes a good choice to liberate a nation & let them help you If you liberate a nation, it will take your ideology and will join your alliance -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Military Strategies [MS00] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Defense Strategies [MS01] 1. Iron Curtain Ensure the defense of your nation by placing units the borders of your nation By doing this you can make sure that your enemies can never gain any region from you To optimize this strategy, place more units in the border between you and your enemy & place less units in the border between you and your ally Note: Although it may fell useless to protect the border between you and your ally because they already protect you, remember that your ally may rebel Compatible Strategy: "The Immovable Object" 2. Ambush! Ensure the defense of your nation by placing one cheap unit your borders and strong units with high attack points behind the borders If you use this tactic you must sacrifice the weak unit in your border and in the next turn attack the invaders with your strong units Once the invaders is destroyed, put your strong units behind the border, and place another weak unit in the border DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT, place your strong units in the border & make sure there is a weak unit protecting your border Compatible Strategy: "Shoot first, ask questions later" 2. Comrade in arms Protect your allies when they are attacked or even place your units their border to protect their regions By doing this you will ensure that your allies can still fight for you & do not join the alliance of your enemies Note: If you're participating in a defensive battle (your/your allies units is attacked) do remember to use a unit that has a good defense point not attack point 3. Iron Grip Ensure the loyalty of your allies by placing your units their capital (or even in all of their regions) By using this tactic, if you're allies do decide to break their alliance and declare war against you, you will have all their regions 4. The Immovable Object Make a specialized group consisting of units with high defensive points to protect your regions The units in the group is up to you but i would recommend mobilized/motorized infantry because have high defensive points & high speed Remember, if you use this tactic you MUST NOT attack the enemy even if they have taken one of your regions wait until the enemy strike one of your units and swiftly send the Guardian units into the battle this will make sure that you are on the defensive Compatible Strategy: "Iron Curtain" 5. Shoot first, ask questions later Make a specialized group consisting of units with high defensive points to protect your regions The units in the group is up to you but i would recommend using tanks because they have high attack points & high speed Remember, if you use this tactic you MUST NOT help a unit that is being attacked you must attack the enemy before they attack you! if the enemy do attack you retreat and in the next turn, counterattack Compatible Strategy: "The Immovable Object" 6. Anti Air Make sure that your units & cities is not bombed to oblivion by a group of bombers by sending some trusty fighters! Although with good enough fortification in a region you will also get a free Anti Air, this is usually not enough Because of this, it is a good idea to ready a group of fighters in the ready to send some of their planes crashing Compatible Strategy: All 7. Bombs away Bomb your enemies even before your tanks could fire by using a group bombers! By using bombers you can drastically reduce casualties in your army This tactic is very compatible with the "Anti Air" tactic, because your bombers need fighter support Let your bombers burn the grounds & your fighters to protect them from enemy fighters Compatible Strategy: All, especially "Anti Air" Attack Strategies [MS02] 1. The Irresistable Force This tactic is your usual brute force tactics Make as many units with high attack points and attack the enemy This tactic is very simple, and you can use the "Cannon Fodder" tactic to reduce casualties 2. Cannon Fodder Build as many cheap units as you can merge them with strong units This tactic can drastically reduce the casualties of your strong units by letting the enemy destroy the weak units Because in the game, the enemy will randomly destroy some of your forces in battle (if it is strong enough) We better let them destroy some weak units Compare this: -You attack with 10 tank, the enemy will destroy 5 units in battle Because you only have tanks in the group, there will be 5 tanks destroyed -You attack with 10 tank & 10 basic infantry, the enemy will destroy 5 units in battle Because you have 10 tank & 10 infantry, the enemy chance to destroy your tank will be reduced by half Unfortunately, merging with infantry will lower the speed of your group Navy Variant: You can also use this tactic in the navy You can protect your precious carriers with cheap cruisers & destroyers 3. Divide & Conquer Effectively reduce enemy combat power to a quarter by blocking their supply line! This is perhaps the most effective tactic, because the enemy combat power is reduce by 75%! To do this, you can attack the regions surrounding the enemy capital (but NOT the capital itself) after that place some of your units in the surrounding regions to make sure that enemy won't take it back if the enemy capital is next to a sea (like the capital of the US), occupy that sea with your navy (Preferably some battleships) to make sure that there will be no extra attacking units coming from the enemy capital, you can bomb it to reduce the IPUs Remember, DO NOT attack the capital itself, because the enemy will change their capital & you will have to start all over again Alternatively, you can surround just one region, especially if your enemy strongest force is in that region This alternate tactic is useful if you and your enemy is fighting for a region for some turns Because the longer you fight for a region (I like to call this type of battle a "heated battle") the enemy will consentrate all its forces in that area So, while the main force of you & your enemy is fighting, you can use a mobile infantry to capture the surrounding region & block their supply line With their supply line broken, you will have an easy time defeating the rest This alternate tactic is extremely compatible with the "High Speed, Low Drag" tactic Just understand this logic, can the enemy fight without ammo & food? 4. High Speed, Low Drag Have you seen your opponent left their regions empty to send their forces fighting in a heated battle? If you do, you should occupy it with your fast unit (usually the mobilized infantry, but tanks is useful too) This will help you block the enemy supply line, or if you capture enough of their regions you can even make them surrender This tactic is very compatible with the "Divide & Conquer" tactic 5. All for One & One for All You can combine all your forces (Infantry, artillery, tank, etc) to achieve a greater combat points If you use this tactics the strength of the combined group will be greatly enhanced You can even attack more enemy units (if you have artillery) and reduce casualties (if you have many infantry, see "Cannon Fodder" tactic) Unfortunately, because of this the group speed will usually be significantly lowered (especially if you have artillery) Because the group will use the speed of the slowest unit (because they don't want anybody to fall behind) Navy Variant: You can also use this tactic to optimized your combat power The most terrifying tactic is to combine carriers with battleships You can use the battleship close combat specialty to protect carriers who can attack at long range Remember, if you combine a group with a submarine, that submarine can't hide 6. Special Forces Unlike the "All for One & One for All" tactic, you can use this tactic to optimized your combat success To do this, divide your group into some groups with each one consisting of only one type of units This will help you attack & use the "High Speed, Low Drag" tactic Unfortunately, because of the specialized groups there will be heavy casualties because you can't use the "Cannon Fodder" tactic Navy Variant: You can use this tactic to enhance your navy strenght The most useful of this is to use specialize submarines into its own group If you have a group only filled with submarines, it can't be detected (unless there is a carrier or escort destroyer) This will make them an excellent scout 7. Terror from Beneath the Sea By making a specialized group filled with only submarines they will gain some special abilities First, they can hide from enemy ships (except carriers & escort destroyers), this will make them excellent scout although submarines can be detected by carriers & escort destroyers, both of this ship don't appear often the carriers takes a long time to build & require many resources, & the escort destroyers needs to be researched Second, because they can't be detected this will make suitable for hit & run tactic you can use the submarines to attack transport ships and run after attacking with some more submarines you can even destroy a cruiser or a destroyer (or even a battleship) in one shot 8. Air Supremacy You can establish air supremacy by building a sizeble squadron of fighters This will let you control the sky, which can bring several benefits The primary benefit is to prevent enemy bombers from attacking your army After that, you can also use the next tactic, the "Death From Above" tactic 9. Death From Above Destroy enemies army & cities, without even scratching the paint of your tank, by sending bombers! Send your bombers to soften the enemy forces before sending tanks to occupy the target region This tactic is extremely compatible with the "Air Supremacy" tactic (If you don't use the "Air Supremacy" tactic, your bomber will be destroyed) Also be careful of Anti Air from well fortified regions Navy Variant: You can also use this tactic in the navy be using carriers Carriers can attack from long range and even attack lands But their fighters can be shot down and must be repaired in the port 10. Repair 2 ships, Get 1 free Unlike your army & air force, your ships can be repaired To do this enter the ship you want to repair to a port city & change that city production output to "Repair" This will let you attack the enemy without building new ships (which takes a long time to build) 11. Live to fight another day! Ever got into a battle where your forces can't possibly win? If you do, use the most useful command, Retreat To retreat, click on a battle After that click your army, and change its order to retreat Your army can always retreat (albeit with some casualties), provided they have a save place to retreat to You may be considered a coward by your enemies (especially in multiplayer) But hey, once you have enough units you can always attack them again Who will shout that you are a coward if your tanks' cannon is in front of their face? 12. Partisans-B-Gone! Ever got your occupied regions taken back by a group of partisans? Well cry no more, by using this tactic you can eliminate them before they even appeared! To do this once you occupied a region split a unit and let them stay in the region This will prevent partisans to rise and take back the region & also help you defend against enemy counterattack The units you left is up to you but preferably a motorized infantry because they have a good defense point & high speed So when you are under attack all your motorized infantry can be send to that battle in just one turn 13. Watch my six Ever get your forces caught suprised by an ambush from the enemy? If you do, use this tactic to counter their surprise with another surprise! You will usually get a surprise attack by the enemy because of the fog of war To eliminate the fog, select a fighter & select a region that has a fog After that order it to "Recon", this will send the plane there & eliminate the fog Of course, you need to watch out for anti air & other fighters 14. Cruising Fact of the Day: Tanks CAN'T swim Because of this you can't sent your tank across the water But what if I want to assault the enemy across the water? Well don't be afraid you can always send them to other islands in a tiny, fragile transport Before you can send your army with transports, you must BUILD the transports To do this, select a city & order it to produce "Transport Capacity" After that you can let your troops relax in the sea until they reach their destination where they will fight to their last Remember, because the fragile nature of the transport, even a small submarine can destroy all your units (even if it is 1000 tanks) So, you should protect the transports 15. Protecting the weak "I prefer them in my side rather than dolphins hopping around" -This quote is taken from an unknown soldier referring to the escort destroyer escorting him Of course, you need to sent your forces across the water But what if your enemies destroy the fragile transport? Well you have to make sure they don't by escorting them! To escort a transport, click on the escort ship & right click on the transport & select "Escort" The escort ship is up to you, but I would recommend the escort destroyer (because they are build to...escort) who can see any hidden submarines 16. A Soft landing Want to make your army useful & attack the enemies instead of relaxing in the sea? Well wait no more! The solution has come, you can always let your army go into land by moving them (or right click to the) region you want to go Oh but what is this?! Your army is destroyed the moment you land? Well that is because your combat power is reduced when you just go into land (I don't know, I blamed it on too much relaxing...lazy troopers) Usually your combat power is reduced by 67% but if you research "Amphibious Assault", it will only be reduced by 33% Nonetheless, even reduced by 33% means there will be some casualties in your army So you better make them land with a soft landing To do this pick a region where there is little enemy resistance (or even none) After that use your carriers to bomb the enemy & let the army land Once your army land their combat power will not be reduced & you can continue crushing the enemy 17. The Apocalypse has begun Have you researched some nuclear technologies? Researching nuclear technology is very useful (albeit very long) Once you have researched all the nuclear technologies, you can build the Atomic Bomb Yes, the Atomic Bomb. This thing ended WWII in the real world & so can you Once you send an Atmoic Bomb to an enemy city its IPUs will be 0 And that city status will be changed to "Nuked" which means that its IPUs can never go up again -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version History [VH00] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V1 03-26-2009 The first version I published -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Credits [CR00] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many thanks to the following person who helped me build this guide: -Me (Yes, I build it alone) Many thanks to Barry Scott Will who inspired me to make a Guide And many thanks to Muzzy Lane for makingthis wonderful game -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Legal [LE00] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Written & Copyright 2009 by Jack Allen Trademarks and other marks are reserved to their original owners.
