As usual, not a word about the game in the Introduction just a couple of tips. A tip for the users of this FAQ, use Ctrl + F to get quickly to the right section. If you copy and paste this FAQ, watch out because you can't use that here. You better don't open it in Notepad anyway and don't print this out entirely, the reason you can read in the section 6.3. I won't update the FAQ section not anymore after I release the complete version. But everybody can send me tips and questions. If they are big enough, I might consider updating it despite that. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 2- FAQ [A200] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= [1] [Q] What are those numbers like [A300] next to the title of every section? [A] It is the search engine of this FAQ. Press Ctrl and F. Type in the search code for the section you want to go to. You should be there in two steps. [1] [Q] What do you think of the game? [A] I think it is a bit too easy for older players. For younger gamers this game is perfect. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 3- Basics [A300] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =============================================================================== 3.1- Controls [A301] =============================================================================== _______________________________________________________________________________ | Button | Command _________________|_____________________________________________________________ | A | Shoot, Confirm in menus _________________|_____________________________________________________________ | B | Pass, Cancel in menus _________________|_____________________________________________________________ | L | Change player _________________|_____________________________________________________________ | R | Turn power-up on _________________|_____________________________________________________________ | Start | Pause, Confirm in menus _________________|_____________________________________________________________ =============================================================================== 3.2- Settings [A302] =============================================================================== You can change the settings in the options menu. You can reach the main menu by pressing A on the main menu when you are over the option menu. >> Language: The language can only be altered before the main screen. You can choose between "English US", "English UK", "French", "German", "Spanish", "Italian", "Dutch" and last but not least "Swedish". The language you choose naturally depends on your native tongue. This guide is written from "English US so if the story script is different, it is cause you are playing in an other language like English UK. >> Players: You can change the number of players on the field per team. You can choose between 4, 5 and 6 players. It depends on you, which you find better. >> Sound: Do you find the sound stupid? Turn it off or on with this option in the menu. I personally prefer having the sound turned on. >> Music: Do you find the music stupid? Turn it off or on with this option in the menu. I personally prefer having the music turned on. >> Time: How long do you want to play per half? You can choose a time between 2 and 6 minutes. I usually play on 2 minutes per half. >> Controls: This is one of the most "weird" options. You can choose between strict controls so when you press Left, you go left; and more free so when you press Left and Up at once, you go in both directions. The second one is better because you can more freely. >> Change side: This option is very unimportant. If you turn it on, you switch sides at the break. Otherwise you don't, simple as that. =============================================================================== 3.3- Game Play Modes [A303] =============================================================================== There are four different Game Play Modes in Lego Soccer Mania. The main mode is the Quest Mode; I usually refer to the Quest Mode as the Story Mode. In this mode you have to play through the entire Quest to get the cup back. You can find the walkthrough for this mode in section 4. The second mode is the Multiplayer mode in which you can play against your friends. In section 2d you can find the information about this mode. You also can play a friendly computer match to an opponent of your choice with a team of your choice. The last Game Play Mode is the Training Mode. In this section you can train your skills. For information on this, you have to look at section 2h, Training. =============================================================================== 3.4- Multiplayer [A304] =============================================================================== I think this is the best mode in the game. In the multiplayer you can challenge one of your friends that owns this game to. Just bring them to your house with their Game Boy Advance. Use your link cable to connect the Game Boy Advance's and choose multiplayer to start. This is the best option because you can play against someone who is has good has you. Maybe he can make a chance against you. The multiplayer also features a new power-up, the Gimme, Gimme, Gimme. You can also choose your own team or put one together and choose a stadium. =============================================================================== 3.5- Items [A305] =============================================================================== > Bolt of lightning: This power-up raises your speed. This can be very handy to out run your opponent. > Sausage: This power-up makes that the ball makes a curve in the air when you shoot at the goal. > Weight Lifter: This power-up turns the current player in a giant for a small amount of time. > Strongman: This power-up turns your player invincible. This is a very useful power-up. > Rocket Ball: Rockets the ball towards goal in a straight line. If you are close to the goal, this can make you score if you keep hitting the keeper. > Half a person: This gives you a tiny speed boost when used. This is not so very handy because the boost isn't that big. > Exploding Ball: Turns the ball into a ticking time bomb, exploding after a few seconds and harmlessly sending players near the ball flying through the air. > Question mark: If you use one of these, the game selects a random power-up for you. > Steal the Ball: Teleports the ball to the feet of your player nearest the goal. This is very handy when the opponent is ready to score. > Oil: This makes your opponent tackle too soon so that he misses you and you can advance. > Gimme, Gimme, Gimme: This steals all the power-ups of your opponent. This is very handy when your opponent has acquired some good power-ups. =============================================================================== 3.6- Teams [A306] =============================================================================== This is just a short list of all the teams in the games. There aren't any real differences between the teams. * Wild West * Pirates * Knights * Construction Workers * City Stars * City * Artic * Adventure * Mars * Brickster Bots * Space =============================================================================== 3.7- Field [A307] =============================================================================== This is a very short list of the different stadiums in the game. Their name speaks for them self. * Knights' Kingdom * Lego City Stadium * Wild West * Mars * Brickster * Adventure * Pirate ship * Artic * Space ship * Mars =============================================================================== 3.8- Training [A308] =============================================================================== The Training is made for improving your soccer skills. You can play with every available team in the game. You can choose between four little mini-games. These are Dribble, Shoot, Tackle and Pass. In Dribble you have to dribble through a set of pins but you can't touch them. In the Shoot Game you have to shoot 10 times at the goal. The more times you score, how more points you get. In the Tackle Game you have to tackle someone 10 times before he reaches the goal. The more times you tackle how more points you get. In the last mini- game, Pass, you have to pass as much as possible in one time perfectly to your teammates. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 4- Story Mode [A400] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Qualification: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The game starts with you having to select a team to play with. You can choose between three teams. After you selected your team your first match starts. After that you'll have to play five more matches. Those matches are still very easy. You should just pass from your defender to your attacking players. Your goalie is at a good level so he will stop most of the attacks of the other team. If you can't score, you should try to lob the ball over the opponent with the B button or by passing very quickly between players. The six teams you have to play are City, Wild West, Knights, Adventure, Artic and Pirates. If you have a small lead and you're having trouble defending, just stall the game. Let you're goalie keep the ball for as long as possible and such things. You could also stop passing when there are only ten seconds left. You won't have enough time left to score. After four matches you get the chance to change one player. The only differences between all the players are only cosmetic so it is your choice to switch a player. After that, you only have to play two more matches before you get the Cup. After the match against the Pirates you get another chance to trade players but now you can also choose a pirate. After that match you get the chance to trade a player again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finding the Cup: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After that movie you have to get the cup back. But first things first, you get a new player, a star player. After that a new match starts. This time you have to defeat the other team of the City. This match is a bit harder but still easy. Just defend when you have a lead of a couple of goals. You still should try to score the same way as with previous matches. You get another chance to switch a player. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Chase: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now you can choose between all the Cities to go play some where. As the Construction Worker said, go to the Wild West. There a couple of Indians will challenge you before you get to talk to the Wise Chief. Just the same strategy as against City. After that you have to play against the three remaining sites. Just keep using the same strategy. The only difference between the teams you play now and the old teams is that they recruited new players. You also get a couple of more chances to change your players. My team consists out of two City star players and two Artic Players. After that the Pirates capture you and you have to beat them to get free. You have to be careful that you don't lose because this match is very important. Once again, just pass from defender to attacker and try to score by lobbing the ball. Try to use power- ups to because they are helpful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Final Frontier: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now you have to defeat the Space Team. Their regular players are weak but they have a very good keeper who can stop some incredible shots so you'll have to try hard to score much. The first goal however isn't difficult. After that match you get a new star player and they tell you that their space ship is broken so that you can't go in space. You'll have to collect all the parts for the ship. There are five parts so you'll have to play five soccer matches against all the teams you already played like Adventure. You can do all the teams in the order you want to collect them. After all those matches, you probably can win easily of all these teams. After the first match, the Pirates enter your ship again. I'm getting tired of them but you have to defeat them because you can't progress otherwise. After some of the matches you can switch players again but you should keep your team, it is a good one. When you collected all the parts, you can go into space. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Space Soccer: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you are in space, you have to play a couple more matches to find The Brickster. Because you ran out of fuel, you have to stop at the space station to fill up. As usual you have to defeat a soccer team, the Space team again. It isn't as hard as your previous matches so you can play quietly building up your attack. After that you can depart to yet another place. Place of destination: Mars. The match that you have to play now is the hardest in the entire game. The Martians are though opponents with a good keeper. After that you'll have to play against The Bricksterbots. They aren't has hard as the Martians but you still have to be careful. Congratulations, after this match, you have played out the Quest or Story Mode of Lego Soccer Mania. Just watch the ending. You now have unlocked the other teams for the Story Mode. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 5- Miscellaneous [A500] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =============================================================================== 5.1- High Scores [A501] =============================================================================== !!! Announcer: - Hey. Your players: - Oh no, the Brickster's stolen the Trophy! Without it we can't enter the Lego Cup. Announcer: - He is getting away! Can anybody help?! Police: - It is too late, he's gone! But he's left a clue behind. Maybe the Construction Workers can tell you what this is for... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finding the Cup: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Construction Worker: - This is the kind of tool used to make really fast engines. We know the Wise Chief. If you show him this feather, he may be able to help you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Chase: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wise Chief: - Let us see what the Magical Totem can tell us. Totem: - A magic gateway has been opened; it may give you a clue as where The Brickster is. Adventurer: - Well we haven't seen the Brickster and he certainly didn't go down this dirt track in the distance. Player: - Oh no! The Brickster escapes again! If we beat Cedric's Knights he may let us through his castle gates. Knight Cedric: - This is a magical portal, as you have beaten my knights, I will allow you through it. Eskimo: - While we were playing, The Brickster came along and sabotaged our skidoos. Can we borrow your wrench to fix them? Eskimo: - Thanks for helping us. You can now borrow our skidoos to catch The Brickster. He went over the mountains towards the coast... Pirate: - You have been captured by the notorious Redbeard! You must beat us if you want to be released. Pirate Redbeard: - Arrr! Somehow you managed to beat my Pirate Team! 'X' marks the spot where The Brickster is hiding... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Final Frontier: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Player: - The Brickster's is going in that volcano! Get after him! Uh oh! What's that noise? Player: - Oh no, The Brickster is taking off in a space rocket. How are we going to catch him now? Player: - It is okay; I've radioed some friends at the Lego Space Centre who can help us. They're sending some helicopters now. Astronaut: - We have a space ship but we've lost some of the parts. Each part has a radio transmitter and this special detector will help you find them. If you find all of them, you can borrow the space ship to follow The Brickster in space. Pirate: -Come aboard matey, and see if you can beat my all star Pirate team. Space: - Well done! You found all of the missing parts! I'm just fitting the last ones in place and then you can take off! Space: - We have lift-off! Goodbye and good luck!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Space Soccer: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Player: - Uh oh!! Looks like we're running out of fuel! We'd better stop at that space station and see if they can help! Space: - You beat us at football so you have earned your fuel. You should have plenty now. We saw The Brickster fly past our space station. The nearest planet is Mars. Brickster: - So you finally found me! If you want your precious trophy back, you'll have to beat the Martian Team! Martian: - The Brickster ran off with the trophy whilst we were playing, but we know where he has gone. Here's The Brickster's secret training base. He's taken the best players from the Lego World to train his Bricksterbots to become the ultimate team. Martian: - You won! The Brickster's team has been defeated. Martian: - You have truly impressed our race with your foot balling skills. You are worthy of our Intergalactic Trophy! Martian: Now that we've captured The Brickster and got the qualifying trophy back, you'll have to hurry back to Earth to enter the Lego Cup! Brickster: - You may have won this time but you haven't seen the last of The Brickster. Ha ha ha ha haaaaaaa!!!! =============================================================================== 5.3- Tips [A503] =============================================================================== Some tips. If you have tips, send them. I don't really have many tips except that you have to pass quickly to avoid being tackled. You also better shoot with the B Button with which you normally have to pass. If you use the A Button, you usually hit the keeper. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 6- Loose ends [A600] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =============================================================================== 6.1- Copyright [A601] =============================================================================== This document is copyrighted 2002-2003-2004 to Joni Philips. Don't bother sending multiple mails, you'll still be ignored. =============================================================================== 6.3- Environment Rant - Very Important for a FAQ this size [A603] =============================================================================== This FAQ already counts more than 20 pages. Once this FAQ is finished; it will possibly count more than 25 pages. If you were to print out this FAQ, it would take probably an entire day. It is also possible that your printer cartridges become empty so that you have to buy new cartridges, these are very expensive. If you want to print something out, only highlight a small part to print out, this will make your printing go faster and you will waste less ink and money. If you decide to print out this entire FAQ, we can't be hold responsible for any damage caused to your printer or if your cartridges become empty. It is also bad for the environment if you print out this entire thing. If you read this after printing out this FAQ or still decide to print it out; you should know that you killed at least one tree. Better plant 3 new trees to restore the damage. (One old tree converts as many CO2 into 02 as 3 young trees.) You can also plant one if you didn't print this FAQ, it can give you fruit and you can sit in the shadow when it is hot. Mail me if you agree with me. That way, you don't waste any paper and it makes me happy. =============================================================================== 6.4- Version History [A604] =============================================================================== Version Complete: Commentary: Completely finished. Only kidding, I would appreciate it if you don't send me hate mail or spam. Even if you want a write a FAQ yourself, don't mail me either. Several sites like www.dallasmac.com/faqwarp have a good manual to make FAQ's. If you find my FAQ on other site then these on the list, e-mail me because they are making money out my FAQ. I have my work on other sites too but these 4 sites have more than 70% of my FAQ's. Most other sites only have 2 or 3. I was born on 29th of July in 1987. At the moment that I am writing this, I am 16. If you reading this after 29th July 2004, you should remember I'm older than 16. I live in a town, Vossem, which is close to Brussels, the capital of Belgium. For al the idiots out there Belgium lays between France, The Netherlands, Germany, Luxemburg and the North Sea. I completed my Primary School in Vossem to. When I graduated there I went to the Holy Heart College in Tervuren; there I am in my fourth year of Latin and Mathematics. Correction, I already moved on to the fifth year in which I'm following Science - Math (6 Hours). My main hobby is playing games. My favorite game is Super Mario World/Final Fantasy VIII (not a typo) and my favorite genre is Role Playing Games like Final Fantasy X. Next to that I also read Comic Books and magazines about Games like NGC. My second hobby is as you can see writing FAQ's. On the matter of sports I am not good. I also surf a lot on the World Wide Web to sites about games. Most are Dutch but some are English. I even write reviews for one of these sites namely for www.gamed.nl. It is a young game site that came online in October 2003. It is also one of the reasons why I slowed down so much on writing FAQ's.
