Introduction ----------------- Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil is the best platformer out there for the PLaystation2, since Crash Bandicoot was a flop and Rayman is a little too boring for my tastes. It has the right mix of action and puzzles to keep you playing all night long. I decided to write something up to help you through the game, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. 2. The Story Of Klonoa 2 ------------------------- Welcome to the enchanted world of Lunatea. In each of Lunatea's four Kingdoms, there exists a very special item called a Harmony Bell. These Harmony Bells are responsible for maintaining peace throughout Lunatea. However, a Fifth Bell, belonging to none of the Kingdoms, is about to appear in Lunatea. The Fifth Bell brings Chaos with it, causing monsters to run amok and priestesses to fall ill. Lunatea's best prophet, Baguji the Wise, divines that a Dream Traveler would appear in their time of need, and that a Ring would be the key to Lunatea's salvation. Then one day, Klonoa meets the apprentice priestess Lolo and Popka at the Sea of Tears. "I'm Lolo, the apprentice priestess, and this is Popka." "I'm Klonoa." "So Klonoa...is the name of the Dream Traveler..." "Please Klonoa, won't you help us?" What is a "Dream Traveler"? And Lunatea? Though Klonoa hasn't a clue, his curiosity gets the better of him. Blowing caution to the wind, he joins Lolo and Popka on their current quest to save Lunatea. And so the adventure unfolds! (taken from the Klonoa 2:Lunatea's Veil manual) 3. Controls ------------- Controlling Klonoa is very basic. One button jumps, one button shoots, and you move with the Analog stick or D-Pad. Pretty simple. Here are the controls for normal Visions: X and Triangle - Jump, hold down to hover Circle and Square - Shoot Air Bullet Up - Face Klonoa away from screen, enter doorways Down - Face Klonoa towards screen Left - Walk left Right - Walk right R1 - Shows remaining lives, Momett Doll tracker L1 and L2 - Action button The controls for the Hoverboard Visions are the same for every button except the D-Pad. The controls for the D-Pad are: Up - Accelerates when Klonoa is facing away from the screen, decelerates when facing towards screen Down - Decelerates when Klonoa is facing away from screen, accelerates when facing towards screen Left - Accelerates or decelerates depending on which way Klonoa is facing when he is sideways, moves Klonoa left when he faces away or towards screen Right - Accelerates or decelerates depending on which way Klonoa is facing when he is sideways, moves Klonoa right when he faces away or towards screen Double Jumping ---------------- To double jump, first capture an enemy with an Air Bullet. Jump in the air using X or Triangle, then hit X or Triangle again in mid-air to kick the enemy below Klonoa and get an extra boost in the air. This is also an attack on enemies below Klonoa. Attacking ----------- To attack an enemy, shoot a Wind Bullet at it. This will pump an enemy full of air, and you can carry it around with you. You can throw the enemy by hitting Square or Circle. This can be used to attack other enemies or get past an obstacle. Popka Jump ----------- To use the Popka Jump, you must first have a controller plugged into the 2P slot. During gameplay, just hit Start to activate Popka. Whenever Klonoa gets in trouble, just hit Square, and Popka will give him a boost to get over obstacles or reach items. However, every item is accessible without Popka, so only use him if you're really stuck or a younger player needs help. 4. Enemies OF Klonoa --------------------- Since the Fifth Bell came to Lunatea, chaos has reigned throughout the land and monsters have appeared all through the Four Kingdoms. The monsters are: Moo - A small red monster that has many forms, such as a spring instead of feet and wings growing out of its back. - Special Abilities: None, the "normal" monster. Giant Moo - A moo that has grown quite large after ingesting Dream Stones. They cannot be caught with a Wind Bullet, but hitting it with one stuns it, and makes it possible to jump on it. - Special Abilities: Cannot be captured by Wind Bullets. Hitting with another monster gives you 9 Dream Stones. Armored Moo - The tough armor on this Moo makes it impossible to hit with a Wind Bullet. However, throwing another enemy at it destroys it's armor and makes it possible to hit with one. - Special Abilities: Cannot be captured by Wind Bullet until armor is destroyed Hornamoos - Special Moos found in the Kingdom of Sorrow who throw their horns at you. - Special Abilities: None Pinkie - A running pink creature that charges you when it sees you. - Special Abilities: None Flackannons - There are two types of Flackannons: ones that shoot cannonballs and ones that shoot missles. The cannonball one shoots three shots foward and the missle one shoots two missles high into the air, and cause a small fire when they hit. - Special Abilities: None. Simple enemies to attack you. Kiton - This carpet-shaped monster lets you fly when you capture it with a Wind Bullet. - Special Abilities: Lets Klonoa fly for a period of time. Tapping the Jump Button lets him gain height. To adjust it, vary the number of times you tap the Jump Button. Spiker - Immune to all types of attacks, you have to avoid them - Special Abilities: Immune to both Wind Bullets and thrown enemies. They can be used to pop Boomies however. Digon - A giant violent fish which inhabits the rivers and bogs of Lunatea. Like the Spiker, it also is immune to all attacks. - Special Abilities: Immune to both Wind Bullets and thrown enemies. Bugon - A flying pest that flies back and forth above the ground, it dive-attacks Klonoa when he is underneath them. - Special Abilities: None Jetimo - It flies high into the sky when you capture it with a Wind Bullet. - Special Abilities: When you capture it with a Wind Bullet, its engine starts and it rockets up. If you hit the ceiling on your way up, it just pops and you fall back to Earth. Wind-Up - A wind-up monster that flies for a while when you catch him. - Special Abilities: Flies a little while when you grab it with a Wind Bullet. Boomie - This monster explodes after a set amount of time elapses. Once he starts glowing, look out! - Special Abilities: Can destroy obstacles and trigger switches when it explodes. There are two types: light purple and dark purple. The light purple one will explode much quicker than the dark purple one. Spindle - Its hard shell deflects attacks from the sides, so the only way to defeat it is from above. - Special Abilities: Can only be attacked from above. May also appear in a giant form. Ow-Gow - They live in caves and shafts, and try to eat anything that passes by its lair. - Special Abilities: Immune to Wind Bullets and thrown enemies. Can be distracted by throwing an enemy ahead of you and slipping by while Ow-Gow eats the monster. Erbil - Electric enemy that makes Klonoa pass right through enemies and destroy obstacles when you double-jump. - Special Abilities: Double-Jumping with this enemy will electrify Klonoa and allow him to defeat enemies by flying into them. Likuri - When you throw one against another enemy, it changes color and returns to you. It is used to get past color-coded crystals. - Special Abilities: The source of many of the puzzles in the game. Changes from yellow, to blue, and finally red. Used to pass through colored crystal barriers in the game. 5. Walkthrough ---------------- A note about the Walkthrough: All Stars are listed in the order they appear in. If you can't find, for example, Star 2 with my directions, remember that it will be inbetween Stars 1 and 3, and search in the general area. Also, Puzzle Solutions are given for some of the tougher puzzles in the game. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- a.) The Sea Of Tears -------------------- - A level to get used to the controls. There are no real hard parts here, and you can probably get through this level in less than 5 minutes. After this level, you visit Baguji's Island. Star Locations ----------------- - Star 1: After the scene where Popka teaches you how to double-jump, it's right on top of the ledge you double-jumped to. - Star 2: In the first ice cave, grab the Moo from the bridge and double-jump to the ledge on your left. Get into the cannon, and it will shoot you over to the area where the Star is, right in-between two Whirlwinds. - Star 3: Right before the section where you ride the bird, it's just past the first Whirlwind. - Star 4: After the bird drops you off on the ledge, there should be a Ngapoko Egg to your left. Take the Jumping Moo and break the egg, and another Egg should appear with the Star inside. - Star 5: In the second Ice Cave, just head straight, pick up the Moo, and throw it at the Ngapoko Egg at the end of the pathway. - Star 6: After you exit the second Ice Cave, grab the Pinkie, and double-jump to the Whirlwind on your left. You'll be shot up to another Whirlwind. Grab the flying Moo, and throw it at the egg at the end of the pathway for the Star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- b.) Baguji's Island -------------------- - It's not a real level, but you will come back here a lot through the course of the game. He tells you to go visit the High Priestess in the Claire Moa temple in La-Lakoosha. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- c.) La-Lakoosha -------------------- - In this level, you'll meet your first Ow-Gow. Ow-Gows cannot be attacked, only distracted. To distract an Ow-Gow, throw another enemy in front of it. He'll reach out and eat it, and while he's chewing, you can run by with another monster. - At the top of La-Lakoosha, there is a pendulum in the middle of a giant circle. You can't go right right away because stone gates block it off. If you grab an enemy and throw it at the pendulum, it will swing and hit the stone gates, letting Klonoa by. After you visit the High Priestess, she tells you to go to the Claire Moa Temple. Star Locations ------------------ - Star 1: After the Cannon fires you to the other side of the canyon at the beginning of the level, you'll come to a destroyable block beneath you. Grab the Moo and double-jump to break it. Collect the gems inside, and an egg will pop up with the Star inside. - Star 2: In the first cave, jump to the top ledge of the triangular set of ledges by double-jumping with the two Moos. Once there, face the screen to pop the bubble that holds the second Star. - Star 3: In the section with the series of bounce pads, take the first one to get to the upper ledge. Head left until you reach another pad. Jump on that pad, grab the jumping Moo, and double-jump for the Star. - Star 4: In the same section with Star 3, pick up the Moo before you jump on the bounce pad. Once on the upper ledge, double-jump to the Whirlwinds. Grab one of the Moos that are on the ledge above the Star, and drop down into the chamber with the Star in it. Jump on the bounce pad and double-jump to get the fourth Star. - Star 5: In the pendulum area, head left and jump onto the floating leaves. Jump float over for another Star. - Star 6: In the same pendulum area, head right. When you reach the platform right after the bounce pad, jump up on the platform and another egg should appear. Grab the flying Moo and throw it at the egg for another Star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- d.) Claire Moa Temple ------------------------ - When you reach Claire Moa Temple, everyone hurries to the Bell of Tranquility. However, Leorina and Tat are waiting for you with their monster, Folgaran the Armor Beast. Boss: Folgaran the Armor Beast -------------------------------- - The only part vulnerable on the Armor Beast is the exhaust system, so you have to hit there with the Moos. The first version of Folgaran has only one attack, where he rears back his head and shoots spikes that circle the area you walk on. You should be able to easily jump over them. Just wait for the exhaust system to show while jumping over the spikes to defeat him. After he is hit, he'll spin around for a bit. Just hit him with another Moo to stop him. After you defeat the first version, he'll lower his claws, so now you have to avoid three objects instead of two. Just grab the now flying Moos and hit him in the same spot to defeat him for good this time. - After you defeat Folgaran, you have to ring the Bell of Tranquility (just shoot an Air Bullet). You then receive an Element. The group then heads back to Baguji's Island, and he opens a new area for the heroes, the Joliant Plaza. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- e.) Joliant Plaza --------------------- - When you reach the Joliant Plaza, Tat steals the element from Lolo. Popka tries to get it back, but Tat splits into two separate creatures, a black one and a white one. Only one has the element, however, and they go to different sides of the park. By the way, it doesn't matter which level you go to first, the other one will always have the element. The black one goes to Jungle Slider, the first Hoverboard level, and the white one goes to Joliant Fun Park. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- f.) Jungle Slider -------------------- - The first Hoverboard level, which in my opinion are the best parts of the game. This one is awesome, especially the part where you fall like 500 feet! Anyway, if you did this level before the amusement park, then this Tat won't have the Element. If you already did the Fun Park, then this Tat will have the Element. - Catching Tat can be hard if you don't know what to do. I recommend just following his pattern once around the track, to see where he goes and pick up the gems and Star. After the first time, just head straight for where he usually goes. Don't follow directly behind him or you'll never catch him. When you start to get close, start tapping Square or Circle to constantly shoot Air Bullets to catch him. Star Locations ---------------- - Star 1: When you come to a choice between jumping to the top ramp or falling down to the river, pick the ramp. You'll come to a pink Bouncer, hit it, hover a bit, and get the Star. - Star 2: After you're done being chased by Digons, get in the Whirlwind for the Star. - Star 3: After the first big fall, you'll see two pink Bouncers ahead of you. Hit both for a Heart and a Star. - Star 4: When you're chasing the Moo Boarders, the second ring you can jump through with them has the Star. - Star 5: The fourth ring you can jump through with the Moo Boarders has the Star. - Star 6: When you're chasing Tat, grab the Moo that's coming towards you and double-jump for the Star above the overhang. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- g.) Joliant Fun Park ---------------------- - This level has a few puzzles in it, but they are not too tough. Also, it introduces the Kiton, an important monster in the game. Puzzle Solutions ------------------ - The Tent Puzzle: Go on the left platform from the Swingship and head straight. When you get in the tent, there will be a jumping Moo and a regular Moo in front of you, and a green switch on top of two platforms. Grab the Moo, and double-jump to the first platform. From there, you can grab the jumping Moo and double-jump to the platform with the switch on it. - The Haunted House Puzzles: There are a series of timed switch puzzles you need to complete in the Haunted House to get through it. The solutions are: First Puzzle - Hit the two switches on the far side of the room, jump in the Whirlwind, and hit the switch on the side of the room you came in through. Second Puzzle - Double-jump to the ledge with the Kiton on it. Fly the Kiton to the top ledge, hit the switch, drop down, hit the second switch, and then throw the Kiton at the third switch. Third Puzzle - Hit the Giant Moo with an Air Bullet, hit the first switch on the ground, jump on the Moo, get in the Whirlwind and go the right ledge, hit the second switch, and throw the flying Moo at the third switch. Star Locations ----------------- - Star 1: One of the eggs in the shooting gallery near the beginning of the level has a Star in it. - Star 2: When you get the first Kiton, follow the trail of gems upwards, make sure you're above solid ground, and throw the Kiton at the bubble that holds the Star. - Star 3: Go right from the swing ship with a Moo in hand to destroy the block that blocks your way. Just follow the path to the top for this Star. - Star 4: After the Jetimo takes you to the top of the tower, drop down to the shorter tower and grab the Star. - Star 5: In the Haunted House, jump on the drum that is traveling over the blue fire, When the drum jumps over the gap, hit the Star quickly on the other side of the gap. - Star 6: In the marsh area in the Haunted House after the third switch puzzle, you'll see the Star hanging over the swamp. Just fly the Kiton straight up until you are parallel with the Star, and throw the Kiton. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- e1.) Joliant Plaza -------------------- - After you get the element from Tat, you'll hear an explosion at Joliant Plaza. Everyone rushes there, and Klonoa has to face Leptio the Flower Clown. Boss: Leptio The Flower Clown ------------------------------- - The first form of Leptio is really easy to beat quickly if you know what to do. At the start of the fight, he'll split into four clones. Hit one of the clones with a Moo and the true Leptio will be revealed. Hit that one with a Moo and he'll start rolling, knocking the other clones over like tenpins. He'll stop if you let him, but just keep on hitting him with Moos. He'll pick up speed everytime you do this, so by the fourth or fifth time he'll be going crazy fast. However, if you just keep on doing this, you can beat the first form under a minute. The second form is easier than the first. Leptio will enter a cylinder casing with spikes coming out of its sides. After you hit the casing with a Moo, it will start rolling. Just run to the opposite side of the arena, so that you will see Leptio inside the casing. Throw another Moo at him to do some damage. He should go down after three hits. - After you beat Leptio, Klonoa will ring the Bell of Joy, and you receive another element. Go back to Baguji's Island, and a new area, the Volk Hall, will open. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- h.) Volk Hall ---------------- - Once the group of heroes gets to Volk Hall, they are all ready to ring the bell. However, Leorina has set two reactors to explode, which will destroy the kingdom of Volk. Since Klonoa is such a hero, he sets out to shut down the two reactors before they explode. You can either visit Volk City or Underground Factory first, the order doesn't matter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- i.) Volk City ---------------- - Volk City is definitely one of the most visually cool-looking levels, since there is a full-scale war going on while you're going through the level. Also, it has some pretty snazzy music. Anyway, it's a pretty straightforward level, with no real tough parts. If you did the Underground Factory before this level, then you go back to Volk Hall. Otherwise, it's on to the Underground Factory. Star Locations ---------------- - Star 1: When you are sliding down the circular ramp in the beginning section of the level, there is a Star above you. - Star 2: When you take the Jetimo up to the city, you'll see an Armored Moo and a regular Moo. Throw one of the Moos towards the screen to get this Star. - Star 3: This Star is in-between the two FlacKannons shooting missiles down at you from the rooftops. - Star 4: In the underground section where you first encounter the Erbil. Near the end of this section, grab the Erbil just before the Jetimo and crash through the blocks left and above you. - Star 5: When you take the Jetimo up from the underground section, move as far right as you can until you see the Star. Pop the bubble on your way down to get this Star. It's a tough one to get, so it may take a few tries. - Star 6: Once you take the Jetimo up to the rooftops, the third Launcher in the second set of Launchers has a Star to its side. Face the screen while you are bouncing and fire an Air Bullet to pop the bubble that holds the Star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- j.) Underground Factory -------------------------- - This level introduces you to Boomies. There are two types of Boomies: pink and maroon. Pink Boomies explode after a short period of time while maroon Boomies take longer to explode. There is a puzzle that deals with Boomies that can be hard to some. After you get through the long line of Boomies, there will be a Giant Moo on the other side of the gorge. Go back to where the long line of Boomies are, and grab the maroon Boomie, which should be right in front of you. Throw it to the other side of the gorge, take the cannon over, hit the Giant Moo with an Air Bullet, pick up the Boomie, jump on the Moo, and double-jump for the key. - Mini-Boss: Pop-Up Tat ---------------------- - Not tough at all. Basically, its 9 heads that pop up and down in little holes. Sometimes they charge up a glowing orb that they throw at you. You have to grab the Moos and throw them at ANY head to do damage. Just throw towards and away from the screen to get easy hits. Look for heads that are charging up attacks, because they will be easier to hit. After a few hits, he should go down. Star Locations ----------------- - Star 1: Just past the two Ow-Gows, there is a Star above the gap - Star 2: When you have to blow up the boulder with the purple Boomie for the first time, double-jump with that Boomie to get to the upper ledge. Double-jump with the Boomie on that ledge to the left for this Star. - Star 3: To get this Star above the three moving platforms over lava, you first have to reach the other side and grab the flying Moo. Then go back and double-jump to get the Star. - Star 4: In the room right after the second Star, jump on the spring, grab the Moo, and walk over and grab the Star. - Star 5: On the hovering platform on the track, the Star is at the very end. - Star 6: Throw the Boomie to the other side, hit the Giant Moo with an Air Bullet, grab the Boomie, jump on the Giant Moo, and then double-jump on to the platform for the Star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- h1.) Volk Hall ---------------- - After you shut down the other reactor, everyone runs back to Volk Hall. However, Leorina just did that to get her some time to make a copy of Klonoa's ring! She then sends out another boss. Boss: Mobile Tank Biskarsh ----------------------------- - This tank's only vulnerable spot is the top of it, so you have to grab a Moo, jump on a Bouncer, and double-jump to hit him on his head. Be careful not to get caught underneath it while it's jumping, and if you don't hit it for awhile, it will start firing off homing missiles. So just keep on hitting from the air, and he should soon transform to his second form. As soon as he reaches his second form, he'll go to the top of the Hall stairs, grow some wheels, and start rolling towards you. Grab a now-flying Moo as soon as possible and get to a Bouncer. Line up the shot and double jump to hit him again in the same place. If you miss, you will get hit, so aim carefully. After being hit in that form, he'll jump around for a bit, and fire off some more homing missiles. Hit him as soon as possible, because it can be extremely difficult avoiding him and the ten plus homing missiles he sends at you. After being hit, he'll return to his Wheel form. Hit him again, and the fight should be over. - After the Tank is destroyed, Leorina shows off her ring, and then tells you that you shut down two false reactors, and there is a real reactor about to blow in Volk City! Except now, from all the war in town, it's called Volkan Inferno. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- k.) Volkan Inferno -------------------- - This level can be tough because most of the time you are running away from a tank while avoiding fiery obstacles. It reminds me of the old Crash Bandicoot stages where you were running away from a boulder, only in 3-D. The key is never panic, and always keep moving foward. Try to avoid hovering when possible, because every second counts. Also, there are safe areas in-between running away from the tank. Star Locations ----------------- - Star 1: When you are riding down the ramp covered with blue fire on the drum. It's at the end of the ride. - Star 2: When the Tank is chasing you down right before the park area, a Star should be in the air next to a ledge. - Star 3: At the park itself, this Star is to the left of the Whirlwind. - Star 4: On the rooftops, it's right before the first cannon that shoots you to the other side. - Star 5: When you are jumping from smokestack to smokestack, it should be next to a shorter one. You have to time your AirBullet carefully to hit this Star, because you'll only have one, maybe two shots before the Tank catches you. - Star 6: When you reach the decimated statue and the Tank is moving back and forth trying to get you, it will be inbetween two Whirlwinds. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- l.) Ishara's Ark ------------------ - Here's the first real long level in the game. Your quest is to activate the three engines to the Ark so you can make your way across the Lake Of Isolation. To make the engines work, you have to make the Likuri at each engine red, then throw it away from the screen through the red hole. Not too tough of a task. Engine Solutions ------------------- - Engine 1: Go to the far side and grab the Likuri. Double-jump over by the crab so you can reach the ledge above you, and also turns Likuri yellow. Then double-jump on the second crab, landing on the same ledge. Finally, throw the Likuri at the flying Moo, and throw it at the engine. - Engine 2: Go to the middle ledge and grab the Likuri. Time your shot so that it goes underneath the Spiney and hits the Moo on the ledge across from you. Drop down to the very bottom, and double-jump to the ledge above that while hitting the Moo down there. Throw the Likuri at the final Moo to turn it red. - Engine 3: Grab the Likuri, throw it at the Moo, then quickly jump to the ledge above you using the winged ball before the Likuri returns to your hand. Repeat the process for the next Moo, and then just throw it at the flying Moo to turn the Likuri red. Star Locations ----------------- - Star 1: Once you are done getting shot out of the cannons, destroy the crystal with the Likuri, and grab the flying Moo. Jump on the bouncer and then double-jump. It's right above the middle Whirlwind. - Star 2: Once inside the Ark, you'll see an egg through the window, but is inacessible because the entrance is too small to fit a Moo. However, you can use the Likuri. Just throw it at a Moo, then run underneath the low ceiling before the Likuri returns to your hand. Once inside, hit the Egg for the Star. - Star 3: When the Jetimo shoots you up in the second engine, go right, jump on the spring, and grab the flying Moo. Throw it at the Egg for the Star. - Star 4: Once you've activated the second engine and you are outside again, grab the Boomie on the left and head right. Make your way right quickly but carefully, watching out for the flowers shooting Spikes. Double-jump with the Boomie for the Star. - Star 5: After you get inside again, head past the elevator and throw the Moo at the Egg in the alcove. - Star 6: Once the third engine is activated, return to the area with the swings. An Erbil should be right before them. Go on the swings, grab the Erbil, and double-jump quickly so you electrify yourself through the block and can grab the Star. After you activate all three engines, the Ark makes it way across the Lake Of Isolation, and into the coolest level of the game:) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- m.) Mountains Of Mira-Mira ---------------------------- - This is my favorite level of the game, period. The coolest music, the coolest level design, everything about it is awesome. It's also pretty sweet riding around in that snow dragon. Star Locations ---------------- - Star 1: After you jump over the giant Spiker, it's inbetween two smaller ones in midair. Jump between them to get it. - Star 2: In the belly of the snow dragon at about the middle. You have to be upside-down to get it. - Star 3: When you jump off the bouncer into the Whirlwind with the blue gem in it, there is another bouncer right after that leads you to the third Star. - Star 4: When you have to jump over the giant snowmen with the Boarder Moos, the second group of snowmen has the Star right past them. Grab the Moo, jump, and hover to receive the Star. - Star 5: After you leave the town, you'll hit a series of bouncers. The last bouncer bounces you to the bridge with a Star in midair to the left of it. Try to land on it to pop the bubble and get the Star. - Star 6: On the bridge, this Star is protected by a fast-moving Spiker. Move inbetween its rotations to get the Star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- n.) Maze Of Memories ---------------------- - I tend to get a lot of questions about this level, so I've written a full walkthrough for it, and not just general information and Star locations. I've divided the level into sections. A section is the areas between the screens where it fades to black, after entering a door or something along those lines. All sections are listed in the order they appear in. Section 1 ----------- - Head foward and grab the fire Moo to throw at the Egg. Grab the next fire Moo to double-jump to the next ledge. Hit the switch to activate the block. You'll see the first Star and a Heart below you, but are inaccessible due to spikes. Enter the door, however, and the room flips, so the floor becomes the ceiling and vice-versa. Grab the fire Moo, and double-jump for the Star and the Heart. You will then see an empty gap, a Moo, and a switch below the floor. Double-jump with the Moo over the switch to activate the blocks, and make your way across. Grab the fire Moo so you can double-jump for the 1-Up. Wait for the fire Moo to regenerate, grab it, and enter the door. Use the fire Moo to grab some gems, and head foward. Section 2 ----------- - A Boomie, a switch, and two blocks are what stand in your way between you and Section 3. First hit the switch so the first block disappears. Now grab the Boomie before it starts rapidly blinking. If it is, wait for another one to regenerate. After you grab it, drop it near the switch and start running. If all goes well, you should make it past the first block space when the Boomie goes off, and now the second block disappears. Head straight. Section 3 ----------- - Grab the Erbil, head left, and use it to reach the second Star and Mega Heart. Now wait for the Erbil to regenerate, and use it to get to the upper ledge. follow in this direction to reach Section 4. If you don't mind losing a Star and some gems, just take the Erbil and head left to goto Section 5. Section 4 ----------- - When you enter the room, grab the Likuri, but don't throw it at the Moo until you are near the switch. Once you throw the Likuri, hit the switch while the Likuri is busy absorbing the Moo. Now with the Likuri in your hand, head up the blocks and double-jump to the left ledge. Grab the Flackannon and take the Whirlwind to the right ledge. When you get to the mirror on the right ledge, you'll notice a shadow on the floor. Jump over it to show a hidden Egg, which holds the third Star. If you are collecting all the Gems, head back to the left ledge, enter the door, and grab them. Otherwise, go back to Section 3, grab the Erbil, and head over to Section 5. Section 5 ----------- - In this room, there are three giant monsters in this room: two Spikers and a Spindle. If you have an Erbil, you can grab a Star or 15 gems. You will need an Erbil, however, to destroy the Spindle to reveal the door that leads to Section 6. You should be upside-down compared to the Spindle to hurt it, and take the door he was protecting to Section 6. Section 6 ----------- - Head straight and grab the Moo. A mirror will show an Egg to the left of Klonoa. Throw the Moo at the Egg to receive the fifth Star. Just head straight. Section 7 ------------ - An intimidating puzzle at first, it's not that bad in truth. There are three items: a maroon Boomie, a Likrui, and a switch. The first thing you do is hit the switch so you can reach the Likuri. Then grab the Boomie and throw it near the switch. Now run to the Likuri and grab it before the Boomie goes off. Run back to the regenerating Boomie and throw the Likrui at it to turn it yellow. Now go to the crystal, and disperse it with the yellow Likrui. Enter the door that is now accessible. Section 8 ------------ - There are two sections of flooring in the air with two sides to them: reb with blue and green with purple. To get all the gems takes quite a bit of backtracking with Erbils, but the exit is on the purple side, so enter the door that flips the room, and run towards the exit. Section 9 ------------ - You have to vertically climb up the tower by using the flying Moos to double-jump to the different ledges. The sixth Star is on a ledge to the left about midway up the tower. Once you reach the top, go right. Section 10 ------------- - Just move right and fall down the psychodelic tube. Once you reach the bottom, enter the door in front of you. Section 11 -------------- - You first are in the room with the exit to the level. However, it is currently blocked by a blue crystal, so just ignore it for now and head foward. You'll enter a circular room with four doors: one with a door over it, a Likuri over another, an Erbil over another, and a Boomie over yet another. There is a path that moves to the Erbil-Likuri rooms or the Boomie-Exit rooms when you step on the circle in the middle of the path. First go to the Boomie room, and use the winged balls to reach the Boomie. Grab the Boomie, and then travel to the Erbil room. Blow up the rock blocking the Erbil with a Boomie, and grab the Erbil. Travel to the Likuri room, and destroy the blocks with the Erbil. Now go back to the Boomie room, grab the Boomie, and travel back to the Likuri room. Now double-jump with the Boomie to reach the Likuri, grab the Likuri, and throw it at the Boomie to turn the Likuri yelllow. Now go back to the Erbil with the Likuri in hand, and throw it at the Erbil to turn the Likuri blue. Then go back to the Exit door, throw the Likuri at the crystal to disperse it, and exit the level. Star Locations ---------------- - Star 1: See Section 1 - Star 2: See Section 3 - Star 3: See Section 4 - Star 4: See Section 5 - Star 5: See Section 6 - Star 6: See Section 9 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- o.) Indecision Pass --------------------- - Once you reach the fourth bell you have to ring, the tree guarding it says it's not going to let you ring its bell without a little test. Boss: Polonte The Hatchling ------------------------------ - This giant egg fires two things in the beginning of this fight: squares that you drive through to pick up speed and pink spikes that slow down your progress. By travelling through the squares, you pick up enough speed to hit the egg with your hoverboard. You have to avoid the pink spikes by travelling inbetween them or jumping over them, or they will hurt you and slow you down. Three squares is all you need to hit him. After a few hits, the egg hatches and the boss goes into his second form. The second part of the fight is the same as the first, with pink spikes and squares, but in harder places to reach or avoid. However, instead of hitting Polonte directly, you have to grab the mini-Boarder Moos when you get close enough to Polonte and throw it at the creature. You can usually get in three or more hits everytime you get close, so he should go down in no time. - After you beat Polonte, the tree accepts you and lets you ring the bell. Now with three Elements in your hand, the group travels back to Baguji's Isle. They hand the three Elements to Baguji, but it's really Leorina in disguise! Now with all four Elements, she's all- powerful. The group decides to go seek the advice of the High Priestess at La-Lakoosha. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- p.) Noxious La-Lakoosha ------------------------- - Noxious La-Lakoosha is a normal level except that you can run out of air in certain parts of the level. Small statues of the High Priestess will replenish your air supply if you go near them, but once you leave the statue your air supply slowly diminishes. The air should never be a problem, because if you are stuck somewhere, it shouldn't be that far to run back and has fill your air supply up again. Just take your time, and you'll make it through. Star Locations ---------------- - Star 1: When you reach the very first set of disappearing platforms, just climb to the top and jump to the left to reach the Star. - Star 2: After you are shot out of the cannon past the Armored Moo, it is up in the air. Grab one of the Bugons to double-jump and reach it. - Star 3: Past the second Ow-Gow, you'll spot a pink winged ball, a Likuri, and a flying Moo. Throw the Likuri at the Moo, double-jump using the winged ball before the Likuri returns to your hand, and then double- jump again using the Likuri to reach the Star. - Star 4: When you are in front of the giant statue of the High Priestess, again like Star 1, jump to the top of the disappearing platforms, and jump left for this Star. - Star 5: When you reach the area with an Erbil trapped inbetween two blocks, first destroy all the blocks in the way of the Erbil by taking the two Moos on top of its cage and breaking the blocks. Then take the Erbil, and head left, towards the Kiton trapped in its cage. Blow up the block with the Erbil, grab the Kiton, and fly to the ceiling of the wide-open space nnext to the cage of the Kiton for this Star. - Star 6: When you reach the pendlum area, it's up in the air, right past the block you destroyed with the pendlum. Use one of the Bugons to reach it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- q.) Dark Sea Of Tears ----------------------- - There is a gimmick to this level: the only light in the level comes from you, and only when you hit the Lightbug. The Lightbug will keep you lighted for about a minute or so, and then it fades out. When it completely fades out, black lights come and attack you. You lose a heart when the black lights attack you, but you also get a little light. Also remember that the Lightbug will not regenerate, so try to make it from point A to point B as quickly as possible. Star Locations ---------------- - Star 1: After you jump over the first Spiker, you'll spot an Egg moving back and forth inside a cave. Throw the nearby Moo at it for the Star. - Star 2: In the first ice cave, right after you get shot out by the cannon, there is a flying Moo, some drums, and an Egg. Jump on one of the drums, grab the flying Moo, and throw it at the Egg for the Star. - Star 3: Right past the two Flackannons, there is a fire Moo with a Star over it. Double-jump using the fire Moo to reach the Star. - Star 4: When you reach the ship on the water, grab the Moo and head right, but don't use it for anything. When you see the Star finally, use the Moo to reach it. - Star 5: When you reach the second ice cave, destroy the block underneath you with the Moo to go on an alternate path. Just follow the path until you spot the Egg with the Star inside. - Star 6: Also in the second ice cave, find the Kiton right before the big rotating Spiker chain. Use the Kiton to reach the Star above the chain and throw the Kiton at it. Make sure you can hover to solid ground after you do this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- r.) Empty Sea Of Tears ------------------------ - Here's another fun Hoverboard level. This one is set in the now emptied Sea Of Tears. A lot of this level has the same elements from previous Hoverboard levels, such as the enemies coming up from behind and the big sudden drops. It's easy to navigate, except for the parts where the path falls away:P Star Locations ---------------- - Star 1: Once you go through the first sand whirlpool, you'll see two boarder Moos. Grab one and hang onto it until you see the Star high in the air. - Star 2: When you start travelling away from the screen, two flying Moos will flit and hover around you. When one of them lands, grab it and double-jump to the upper ledges for the Star. - Star 3: Also in the same area as Star 2. When sections of the paths start falling away, the Star will be sitting all by itself on one of the remains of the path. - Star 4: When you are travelling down the path of bones, you'll see two Whirlwinds in sucession. Go in both to reach the Star. - Star 5: Right past the bone path, there is a Star guarded by a fastly- rotating Spiker. Manuever in and grab the Star. - Star 6: In the same section as Star 5. Once again, the path falls away, and the Star will be sitting all by itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- s.) Embryo Compass -------------------- - Our heroes rush to the Embryo Compass to stop Leorina before it is too late. However, Leorina tries to stop them by using the power of the four Elements and turn into a cursed version of herself. Boss: Cursed Leorina ----------------------- - In the first part of the fight, Leorina has three attacks: she runs around while you have to avoid an energy ball, she jumps up in the air and tries to land on you, or she hovers above the ground, preparing for a devastating attack. Her weak point is her underbelly, so use the Erbils to electrify yourself and attack it when she's running around or trying to jump on you. When she hovers in the air, two Erbils appear in the air, one above the other. You have to use one Erbil, and then quickly grab the second one and use it to hurt Leorina. After a few hits, she falls off the platform. In the second part of the fight, she runs underneath the circle you are standing on with the energy ball underneath. However, now certain sections of the floor depress when you throw a Moo at them. So grab the Moo, and time your double-jump so the Moo hits the floor while Leorina is underneath. After about half her life is diminished in this fashion, she'll change colors to black, and return to the old tactic of trying to jump on you. Also, you can use Erbils again instead of Moos. So just jump a little sooner than before with the Erbil, because Leorina is a little bit faster. She'll soon go down. - After the fight, Leorina realizes what a fool she's been, and tells you to stop the Kingdom of Sorrows and the Kingdoms here from merging before it's too late. To reach the Kingdom of Sorrows, you have to use Ishara's Ark. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- t.) The Ark Revisited ----------------------- - Remember Ishara's Ark, and how you had to turn on three engines to get the airship going? Well, now you have the same three engines off again, by throwing a Boomie in each engine. Also, once you throw the Boomie in, you only have a set amount of time to get back outside. While the time limit isn't too restraining except maybe the last one, this level would be a pain in the neck if not for the information below;) Puzzle Solutions ------------------ - Third-Engine Crystal Puzzle - Right after you get the sixth Star, you enter a room with a crystal blocking your path. There is a Likuri, a Boomie, and two flying Moos, with one through the window, in the room. First grab the Boomie, and throw it under the overhang that shelters the Likuri and the flying Moo through the window. Then grab the Likuri and throw it at the Moo in the window. Wait for it to return to your hand, and then double-jump so the Likuri hits the Boomie and Klonoa still reaches the upper ledge. Then go left, jump out, and double-jump so the Likuri hits the flying Moo and you can still hover back to the platform from whence you came. Then throw the now-red Likuri at the crystal to disperse it. Star Locations ---------------- - Star 1: When you enter the first engine, right past the two Kitons, the Star is in the background behind a fastly-rotating circle. Ride the platform on the circle until you reach the top, jump and hover, and then shoot an Air Bullet to grab the Star when there is an opening in the circle. - Star 2: In the same area as Star 1, ride the fastly-rotating platform on the circle so that you can reach the ledge on the left. Grab the Boomie, carefully avoid the Spikers, and double-jump to the ledge with the Star on it. - Star 3: In the second engine, you'll reach a conveyor belt with a constant flow of Moos on it of all kinds, and an Egg in the background. Grab one of the Moos, get a little bit ahead of the Egg, and then throw it at the Egg for the Star. - Star 4: Once you get outside in the second engine, this Star is above the key. Grab the Boomie and carry it over to the key and double-jump for the Star. - Star 5: When you reach the area in the third engine with the Erbil hanging over thin air, right past that area are two winged balls, a flying Moo, and the Star. Grab the first winged ball, double-jump off that, grab the flying Moo and quickly double-jump again, and hit the bubble that holds the Star with an Air Bullet. - Star 6: After getting shot out of the cannon near the floating platforms in mid-air, grab the Boomie and throw it underneath the Spiker. You'll then see an Erbil with three blocks over it. The Star is in the top block. You have to double-jump with the Boomie so you can reach the Erbil at its maximum height, and then quickly use the Erbil so you crash through the top block. This may take a few tries, but you can always go back, grab another Boomie, and try again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- u.) Kingdom Of Sorrow ----------------------- - Welcome to the most challenging level in the game, in terms of pure action gameplay. This level will test all your double-jumping and Air Bullet-shooting skills to the max. Make sure you got some extra lives to go through, because you're going to need them all. All I can say is good luck, because this level depends on it a lot more than any strategy I can offer. Star Locations ---------------- - Star 1: You'll see an Egg in the background of the screen, but it can only be broken open from one place: a disappearing platform guarded by a fast-moving Spiker. You first have to get the flying Moo to break open the Egg, which can be found to Klonoa's right. To get the flying Moo, first climb to the top disappearing platform, wait for it to disappear, and then grab the flying Moo while you are falling. Now go back to the Egg with the Moo, and jump on the disappearing platform, throw the Moo at the Egg, and jump back to avoid the Spiker. The Star should now be yours. - Star 2: You'll come to a circle of giant Spikers. The Star is in the middle of the circle, so grab the Kiton, fly with the flow of the Spikers, and drop down when you are above the Star. - Star 3: You'll come to a set of three disappearing platform in a triangle shape, with the Star above them. The flying Moo needed to reach the Star is next to the right platform, so grab it when its at its lowest height, and use it to reach the Star. - Star 4: When you are travelling on the pink winged ball over thin air, you'll see the Star on a disappearing platform with a Wind-Up next to it. You have to jump off the winged ball, land on the platform, grab the Star, and then use the Wind-up to reach the winged ball again. - Star 5: Two HornaMoos are on one side of a U-shaped platform. The Egg with the Star in it is at the top of the U, so you have to grab one of the HornaMoos, and run back to break open the Egg for the Star. - Star 6: Similiar to Star 2, the Star is in the middle of another chain of ginat Spikers. Use the same strategy as you used to get Star 2, but remember that if you fall, you die. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- v.) The Forgotten Path ------------------------ - The last, and perhaps the most challenging Hoverboard level. You'll have to have your control down to a T to make your way down the very narrow path, and forget about collecting all the Gems. It's still a fun level, though, and it's the last one in the game before the final boss, so enjoy the last few moments of Klonoa 2 while you still can. Star Locations ---------------- - Star 1: Right before the first pink ramp you'll find this Star. - Star 2: When you see the first flying Moo, grab it and double-jump to reach the ledge with the Star. - Star 3: In the tube, this Star will be found when Klonos is sideays - Star 4: Same as Star 3 - Star 5: When you get back to the main path from the tube, this Star is behind a giant Spiker. - Star 6: When you're on the main path, you'll see a pink ramp off to your left. Take the pink ramp, and you'll hit a series of ramps that lead to a cannon. The cannon will shoot you to the path with the Star on it. The Star is high in the air, so you need to take the left pink ramp to reach it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- w.) Terminus Of Tears ----------------------- - Well, this is it. The big end-boss. Kinda disappointing, wasn't as tough as I hoped he was. However, I'm sure he'll offer a challenege that hasn't played a ton of games like myself. Good luck. Boss: The King Of Sorrow -------------------------- - The fight starts out with Klonoa on a Hoverboard. You're in a tube, with the King in front of you. The King circles around the tube, planting spikes and Bombs for you to avoid. You have to grab the Bombs, and throw them at the King. However, you have to avoid the spikes at the same time. After each hit on the King, you go faster also. After a few hits, the King floats away, and the second part of the fight begins. The second part of the fight takes place on solid ground, with no Hoverboard. The King is in a sphere at the center of the circle, with spikes coming from its sides to hurt Klonoa. Also, there are four balls on the outside of the sphere. The first thing to do is hit one of the spikes with a Wind Bullet on its spikey end to stop it. Then grab it on its non-spikey end, and the balls on the outside of the sphere are your targets. You have to throw the spike at each circle twice to make it disappear, but be wary of the lasers that shoot off it. After all four balls are gone, the third part of the fight starts. The third part of the fight is the same as the first, except you only have to attack two balls instead of four. Just follow the same strategy as the second part of the fight, and the King should be defeated. - Congrats! You've beaten Klonoa 2. Enjoy the ending, which hardly makes any sense, but still is pretty cool. After that, pat yourself on the back, and go grab a Gameboy Advance and pay the new Klonoa coming out:) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. The Momett House -------------------- The Momett House is where many of the secrets and extras in the game can be found. You unlock the Momett House after you defeat Lepto The Flower Clown. It is run by Momett the Showman, and initially only two items are available: the Scrapbook and the House Of Horrors. The Scrapbook at first has only one picture in it. However, if you collect all 150 gems in a level, another page is put into the Scrapbook. The House Of Horrors is a timed match with one of the previous bosses you defeated, to see how fast you can beat them. A quest that Momett gives you is to find all his lost Momett Dolls, which have been scattered into pieces throughout the levels. There is a Momett Doll for each level, and a piece is found when you grab one of the Stars. Collect all six stars in each level and you receive a Momett Doll. There are 16 Momett Dolls in all. After you collect 8 of them, you unlock the Chamber o' Fun, a bonus level. After you get through the Chamber o' Fun, you unlock the Hurdy Gurdy and the first 27 tracks on it. If you get all 16 Momett Dolls, you unlock the Chamber o' Horrors, another bonus level. After you get through the Chamber o' Horrors, you unlock the remaining 27 tracks for the Hurdy Gurdy. My favorite is No. 32, the Wahoo Stomp. Quite catchy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks To... -------------- GameFAQs - For continually posting my FAQs Namco - For making the game I hope this FAQ helps you through the world of Klonoa 2.
