Frequently Asked Questions: Q: What's the maximum affection I can get in this volume? A: Pink (No orbs outside) Q: How do I change between Saku and Bo? A: The appearance of Saku/Bo depends on Haseo's level. Even = Bo, Odd = Saku. Q: For the Shadowless quest, how do I tell the wolfs apart? A: Only one has a shadow Q: What is the Terminal Disc? A: The Terminal Disc is a DVD that explains the previous four .hack games, and brings people up to speed on .hack. As you play along the three .hack//G.U. games, more videos become unlocked, and you can watch more and more. Unfortunately, the Terminal Disc was only included in the Pre-Order Special Edition of .hack//G.U. Volume 1. You might be able to find it on E-Bay. Q: Where can I get the Haseo Action Figure? A: The Haseo action figure was also a Pre-Order Special Edition only exclusive. Sorry. Don't worry, you're not missing out on much. Q: Does anything special come with this game? A: Yes. The first episode of .hack//ROOTS. Q: What's the max level I can get? A: 100. Q: This guide rocks! Are you going to do one for Volume 3 when it comes out? A: Yeppers. Based on the amount of E-Mails I get, I'd say people like these. :) Q: Is there any way I can help? A: Sure! Come join the dothackers forums and you can post information you have that we might not. This is a community effort, after all, and everyone is invited to help! =D Q: When is Volume 3 coming out in English? A: We hope for October of this year! The charts for the lucky animals are available here: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h157/ZeroTheBurninator/walkthrough/lucki.png If you need to access this guide offline, please print or save that picture. Most fields and dungeons contain one unlucky or lucky animal. You can determine which animal it is based on the fact that lucky animals have a musical note above their heads. NOTE: This might be confusing to some, I'll try to explain it as best I can. In this list, the animals are divided into 2 sections, the fields and dungeons. Within each section, there is a list of no.(1 to 0) at the top and the side. The number on top is the value of the last digit of your average party's level. --Meaning if i have a party of lvls 55, 56, 57, my average party lvl is 56.-- Hence the value is 6. If you like, you can use Zefie's Average Level Tool to find the average level: http://zefie.com/gu/ If there is any decimals when calculating the values, it's rounded down. The number on the left is the last digit of the area's level. Meaning if i enter an area of lvl 55, the value is 5. The animal that appears will be chosen by the intersection of the values. For instance, my average party level is 56, so the top value is 6. The area I enter is a field level 55, so the side value is 5. Comparing it with the table, I will get Leviathan in the field. I have used initals for the animals, so here's a legend for it. F.W: Fate Worm G.B: Gold Bird Sleip.: Sleipnir T-T.F: Two-tailed Fox Gane.: Ganesha Levi: Leviathan H.W: High Wolf M.C: Malice Cat Tsutsu.: Tsutsuga M.R: Moon Rabbit Oury.: Ouryu Totet.: Totetsu Chime.: Chimera Teng.: Tengu D.G: Dark Goat Q.L: Qi Lin Note: Because of GameFaqs 80 character limit, I need to remove the charts. The charts for the lucky animals are available here: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h157/ZeroTheBurninator/walkthrough/lucki.png If you need to access this guide offline, please print or save that picture. -----------------------+------------------------------------------------------- Animal Name |Description -----------------------+------------------------------------------------------- Gold Bird |Objects turn into treasure boxes Moon Rabbit |All members recieve 400 EXP Leviathan |Recieve 5 items Sleipnir |Sleipnir will help you in next 5 battles Tsutsuga |Saves you from Game Over 3 Times Ganesha |Max HP/SP increased for next 5 battles High Wolf |Gives you an item set Fate Worm |Gives you 100000 GP Totetsu |Objects turn into treasure boxes Kudan |Gives you 300 EXP Tengu |Recieve 4 items Chimera |Chimera will help you in next 4 battles Qi Lin |Saves you from Game Over 2 Times Tohkoh |Max HP/SP increased for next 4 battles Baku |Gives you an item set Ouryu |Gives you 8000 GP Nue |Summons King Chim Chim Two-tailed Fox |Takes 5% of money away from you Malice Cat |Max HP/SP will be half for next battle Dark Goat |Max HP/SP will be half for next battle White Two-Tailed Fox |Max HP/SP will be half while in the area You can get your rewards for collecting them by visiting Dr. Pao in the Alchemy District. ------------------------ Phase 5 - Weapons/Armor Guide (ARMOUR) ------------------------ NOTE: An item name surrounded by brackets [] means that it cannot be bought/gained without an accessory item. NOTE2: Sometimes the Guilds don't have the armors and items you might want. If they don't, go do a few quests or a level up a bit, then check back. ----Weapons---- Spin Gai Gu – Trap box in (Delta) Fly Away Marbles Windup Box Spin Kouga - Weapon Shop in Mercenary District (Mac Anu) Spin Man Que - Weapon Shop in Mercenary District (Mac Anu) Spin Rasetu - Weapon Shop in Mercenary District (Mac Anu) Spin Corpse – Dropped by Goblin Guard Spin Locust - Trap Box in (Delta) Wailing Grieving Windup Box (Random) Spin Ban Mu - Trap Box in (Delta) Wailing Hardship’s Windup Box (Random) Spin Piney - DX Weapon Shop in Alchemy District (Mac Anu) Spin Axe - DX Weapon Shop in Alchemy District (Mac Anu) Dorje Hatchet – Alkaid Starter Weapon Spin Needle – Begin Vol 2 with it Ripper's Blade – Vol 1 Special event (Vol 2 ?) Final Boss Volume 2 Drops- Nothing [Lv91-100] The One Sin Drops- Flickering Scale God Eater Drops- Rainbow Scale ------------------------ Phase 7 - Avatar Battles (AVATR) ------------------------ Controls ------------ Attack - X or O(Japanese Version) Dash - O or X(Japanese Version) Shoot - [] (Square) A quick note about Skeith ------------------------- In the first few battles Skeith will have his form from the first game, meaning a basic 3 hit combo when you attack. After 1-2 battles, Skeith will have a form change, giving him new abilities (Like 3 hit combos + 1 extra hit and a wider shot.) Attack Pattern -------------- Basically, you just shoot like crazy at your opponent until he gets paralyzed. When he does, just dash towards and hit him with your scythe; making sure to dodge his attacks (All Avatar attacks are listed below) After you've chopped away at his HP enough, you'll be able to data drain. Basically, just hold O all the time to charge, and let go to shoot it. (And make sure you hit, ok?) Avatar battles -------------- --AIDA (GateKeeper)-- Attack: 6-7 silver looking shots. Most common attack and easy to dodge. Special: An AIDA beam, like those AIDA(Anna) used in Volume 1. The only difference is you'll need to avoid 4-5 beams. Just hide between them. --Gorre (The Machinator)-- Attacks: Basic shots, just like everybody else. Gorre will also melee you if you get too close. When Gorre charges a fist, be sure to dash left or right to avoid it. Specials: Bubble Ship - Gorre transforms into a ship-like object, and shoots bubbles. Just be sure to dash at him before he moves and attack him. Data Drain - When he charges up with electricity, press O and X rapidly. --AIDA (Oswald)-- Attacks: Basic shots. He also shoots little things that you have to slash before they shoot at you. He has a strong melee attack if you get too close. Special: Spider Web - Oswald will shoot spider webs, you have to avoid them. Go in-between them, or just maneuver inside. If it hits, Oswald will do an ULTRA STRONG MELEE ATTACK OF DOOM! --AIDA (Helen)-- Attacks: Basic shots. Aida beams (5 of them) Special: Super Combo - Helen charges up, then dashs at you pushing you back. Then, she uses a fish slap to pwn the hell out of you. --Innis (The Mirage of Deceit)-- Attacks: Basic shots. (Does anyone NOT have these? D:) Mirage Clone - DO NOT attack Innis when you can see through it. It's just a mirage and Innis will do a counter melee attack on you if you do. Little Helpers - Innis summons 5 little helpers that you need to slash. 2 Blades Combo - Dodge by dashing left or right. Specials: Unnamed - Innis will turn into some kind of a ship that will dash at you. You will need to slash it 3-4 times. Data Drain - just tap O and X like before (During the Gorre Fight) --Corbenik (The Rebirth)-- Attacks: Needles - 5 needles shot. Needle ball - 100 needles in a ball that explodes. Strong Melee Attack - Corbenik will charge up and them come at you. Just dash. AIDA Helpers - He will summon 5 of them. Finish them quick, because they shoot. Specials: Tri-Edge Sign - Charges at you with 3 of his hands, doing his ultimate finisher (dodge this or die a painfull death, equal to a thousand suns.) Data Drain - tap O and X (Deja vu, eh?) ------------------------ Phase 8 - Ryu Books (RYUH) ------------------------ Ryu Book I - Battle ------------------- Battle Win --- 1 point Sneak Attack --- 3 Points per Success Rengeki --- 2 Points per Success Awakening --- 3 Points per use Ryu Book II - Party ------------------- Trade --- 18 points per trade Party group --- 5 points each time you build a team Present --- 10 points per present Present cost --- 1 per 100G Ryu Book III - Box ------------------- Open beast god box --- 30 points each time Open normal chest ---3 points per time Open trap box --- 20 points per time Small boxes\those strange things you kick --- 2 points per time Ryu Book IV - Item ------------------- Weapon - 12 points per type Armor - 18 points per type Accessory - 18 points per type Item - 6 points per item type Ryu Book V - Exploring ------------------- Play Time --- 5 points per 30 minutes Field Tranfer --- 35 points per entry Shrine Transfer --- 35 points per entry Cavern Transfer --- 35 points per entry Ryu Book VI - Arena ------------------- Arena battle - 7 points each register CounterHit - 7 points per success WP gain - 1 per 1 wp Ryu Book VII - Monster ------------------- Ghost Type --- 15 points per type Demon Type --- 35 points per type Sea Beast --- 60 points per type Natural Type --- 25 points per type Bird Type --- 30 points per type Plant Type --- 40 points per type Devil Beast --- 20 points per type Machine Type --- 35 points per type Dragon Type --- 35 points per type Shelled Type --- 35 points per type ??? In this lost ground, you will see 8 platforms, 7 weapons. (The missing weapon is Ovan's) After some events, you will be sent to field, in which a tutorial will pop up about the Adlers Keys. The Adlers key's are random. In a field there could be 1-5 and 1-10 in a dungeon. After getting some Adler Keys, go back to the lost ground and pay 5 keys to the scythe weapon. After that, press the scythe to go into a battle area. You'll fight with some kind of a boss monster. He heals when he is at about 1000 HP. His short meele attacks absorb your HP and SP, so watch out. After you've killed that monster, you get Haseo's strongest scythe in vol 2 - The Lost Scythe. You can now collect more Adlers Keys to unlock other Epitaph Users' weapons. Remember though, the ones the weapons are meant for MUST go into the battle area, which means you'll need a party of Epitaph User + You + Third person of choice. Increase critical hit rate by 25%. Eigth Phase Bayonet - Ovan's Lost Weapon - ??? Required Adler's Keys: None. It's been taken already. NEVER OBTAINABLE. Adlers Keys ------------------ An easy place for getting Adler's keys is Graceful Time's Phoenix. There are 3 Adler's keys pretty much right where you spawn. 1- Right by the spawn area, just look around. 2- Go to the opposite side of the beast temple. 3- Go to the island south of the beast temple. (Use a smoke screen to get past the enemies if you encounter them.) ----------------------- Phase 10 - Doppelganger (DOPPIL) ----------------------- Finding the Doppelganger ------------------------ There are two ways of finding this guy. The first one is to wait around for a while. (10 minutes should be enough) Like Volume 1, you can only find him in fields. Some believe that the other way is simplier. Complete the game, and you will get an email with keywords. Use one of the keywords given (Moonlight), and the Doppelganger will already be roaming free on the map. The Fight with Doppelganger --------------------------- DualReact recommends the following strategy: Split the weapon usage, start with a scythe. Use an air skill of the scythe and after that, either change to dual blades or broad swords (dual swords on pirority). At about 1000 HP, use the new awakening. That should do 1000-1400 damage which *should* kill him. Watch out for his charm and paralyze. Another strategy is to use Sleipnir, which will help you in next 5 battles. You can suprise attack the Doppleganger, draining half his health. Then, use a smoke screen. Then repeat. Eventually, his health will be low. At that point, just fight him normally. If you use an awakening after those 5 suprise attacks, it will almost definitely kill him. Doppelganger Drops ------------------ This section is split into two parts: With the "Own King" item from Volume 1, and without the "Own King" item. --With "Own King"-- After the first battle, you will get one of these sets: Doppelganger Dual Blades and Doppelganger Broad sword or Doppelganger Dual Blades and Doppelganger Scythe In the second battle, you will the second weapon you didn't get before. And in the third battle, you will get random armors\accessories. --Without "Own King"-- In the first battle, you get broadsword. In the second, you get the scythe. The dual swords you don't get. In third and up battles, you get random goodies. Doppelganger Weapons --------------------- Dual Swords: Heine's Invasion, Level 51, Hold and release, P-attack +22 Raging HIt: Increase critical hit rate by 25% Body Grasp: Absorb 25% of regular attack damage as HP Moruning Chaos: Adds Confusion to regular attacks Broadsword: Heine's Shadow, Level 51, Hold and release, P-attack +50 Past Invite: Half the Target's Hp Mind Grasp: Absorb 25% of regular attack damage as SP Mourning Bind: Adds Charm to regular attacks Scythe: Heine's Zero, Level 51, Hold and release, P-attack +50 Devolve Invite: 10% chance to reduce the enemy's HP to 10% of its max Physique Grasp: Absorb 50% regular attack damage as HP Spirit Grasp: Absorb 25% regular attack damage as SP ------------------------ Phase 11 - The One Sin (1SIN) ------------------------ What is the "One Sin"? --------------------- One Sin is the "undefeatable monster" that Balmung and Orca killed in The World R:1 (.hack//AI Buster Volume 2). In .hack//G.U. Volume 2, the One Sin returns, and it's pissed. To get the One Sin event ---------------------- It's recommended to start this after you beat the game or before the last boss. Use the forum posts :D First, read the topic "Strange Event NPC". Then log in and back out. Go to the forum and reply to a message in the thread "Ancient Egg". Log in to The World, then out again. Read the post reply and you will get keywords. Go to the dungeon of the keywords you just got. Oh look! It's those little annoying and dumb sorcerers from Volume 1! Kill the summoned enemies, then go to the forum. Reply to the new message in "Strange Voices" Get the new keywords and go to them, fight, you know the drill. At the end of the third time, you will fight the One Sin. After that, you will get a mail with keywords to a lost ground. There the REAL version of the One Sin - "The One God Eater" awaits you. How to kill the One Sin ---------------------- First off, the area level is 87, so being level 87 or higher is a must for this battle to be any easier. Also, bring as many healing items as you need (Depending on the level of your party members) Having a healer like Atoli,or a magic user like Sakubo, will make things a bit easier. When the battle starts, you will see that the One Sin is a blueish color, and only have the option of attacking its arms. Attack its right arm to remove its protective barrier. Use any piercing attacks to get rid of it faster Eventually, it will switch over to its left arm, and the One Sin will be a purple-ish color. After doing this for a while, it's core will be exposed. Attack it as many times as you can. Once you hear it roar and see it move it's arms close to its core, RUN AWAY and call your party members to you (L1) because he's charging up a big laser of DEATH. After the laser disappears, attack the core. The barrier will come back up,and you will have to attack it's arm again. During battle, the One Sin will attack you. One such attack is lifting up the arm that has a barrier on it, charging up a energy ball, and slaming it into the ground. Another attack is taking the guarded arm, placing it in the middle, making "circles" appear on the ground, along with a pointy crystal. He will also just slam his arm into the center of the field. After some time in the battle, he will also shoot the ground with a red laser. Stay away from it, because a wall of fire will come from it. What are the rewards? ------------------- Once you defeat it, you will get the best accessory and armor in Volume 2. You will also get a email saying congrats and keywords to the "God Eater" Both are level 100. ------------------------ Phase 12 - Bike Missions (BIKEY) ------------------------ For the bike missions, before the start of each race, boost your bike using the Square and X button. This saves up to 1.40 seconds. Tips: 1. Its is not necessary to collect all the chim spheres. 2. Try to use the nitro boost. 3. Try to collect chim spheres to keep your nitro bar from emptying. 4. When dealing with 180-degree turns, try to use the skiing function. 5. Get the bike parts from Mac Anu and Dol Donna, and upgrade them. Note that you have to consider between acceleration and stability when choosing which parts to input to the bike, as some parts will lower stability for higher acceleration and vice-versa. Bike Mission Strategy Mission 1 http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h157/ZeroTheBurninator/walkthrough/bike01.gif Point 1: Prepare boost before the race starts. Move forward towards point 2. Point 2: As you reach point 2, turn to the right, collecting at least 10 chim spheres. After collecting 10 chim spheres, nitro boost. Point 3: Here's the part where it determines whether u beat Matsu or not. Instead of turning to the left after grabbing King Chim Chim, ski to the left BEFORE you hit K.C.C, but make sure that you got K.C.C during your ski.(Skiing makes a sharp turn, instead of a normal turn which is centripetal.) Note that when you ski, you can ski towards the chim spheres (which is point 4) to replenish your nitro. Point 5: Continue to collect chim spheres, try to max out your nitro. If your nitro value is around 25, you can ignore the chim spheres in this point. Move on to hit the 2nd K.C.C at point 6. Point 7: Collect chim spheres and maintain. If your chim spheres is close to max, or around 18, ignore point 8 (point 8 is collecting chim spheres as well) and head straight to point 9. Point 9: Hit the last K.C.C with all u have. Mission 2 http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h157/ZeroTheBurninator/walkthrough/bike02.gif Point 1: Prepare boost before the race starts. Move forward towards point 2. Point 2: Collect at least 10 chim spheres and nitro boost. Make sure you hit the 1st K.C.C in point 3. After that, proceed to point 4. Point 4: As you continue to collect chim spheres, turn left at point 4. Point 5: Hit the 2nd K.C.C using the 180-degree ski (The trick is to ski before the K.C.C and hit it while you turn 180 degrees instead of skiing after you hit K.C.C. You have to try and learn it.) Point 6: Continue on and hit the 3rd K.C.C. Mission 3 http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h157/ZeroTheBurninator/walkthrough/bike03.gif Point 1: Prepare boost before the race starts. Move forward towards point 2. Point 2: Turn right while moving to point 2, collecting at least 10 chim spheres and nitro boost. Hit the 1st K.C.C in point 3 and turn left. Point 4: As you move from point 3 to 4, collect as many chim spheres as possible. If you have enough, you can ignore point 5. Point 6: Hit the 2nd K.C.C. Note, there are two routes you can take from here. You can either make a U-turn and move to the cliff (Point 7), or proceed forward and move to the cliff. Either takes up similar timings, so its up to you. Point 9: Continue to collect chim spheres as you move up the cliff to hit the 3rd K.C.C. However, be wary of the cliff, when you move up the cliff, with turn and accelerate at the same time, you will likely go off. Try to turn before accelerating. Mission 4 http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h157/ZeroTheBurninator/walkthrough/bike04.gif Point 1: DO NOT PREPARE BOOST IN THIS MAP! You need to prepare to make a U-turn instead. Make a U-turn and move towards point 2, hitting the 1st K.C.C. Be careful of controlling your bike, its quite hard to control since you will be moving in a S-curve. It's likely you will hit the wall if you are not careful, try to avoid hitting it. Point 3: From point 2, move on to collect chim spheres in point 3. Turn right after that to hit the 2nd K.C.C in point 4. Point 5: If you have accumulated sufficient chim spheres after point 4, nitro boost and collect more chim spheres in point 5. As you move from point 5 to 6, there is quite a few turns you have to make, so you have to get a feel for when to turn and accelerate, especially with nitro boost activated. (The trick to is release the X button the instant before u turn, and push the X button after u start the turn, and if possible, try to move diagonally between turns instead of making turns.) Point 6: Here is another part you have to worry about: The wall, like point 2. Since you have nitro boost, it's very difficult to control the steering in this point. Same theory, release the X button the instant before you turn, and push the X button after you start the turn. This requires some time and experience, it's not easy to avoid hitting the wall. Proceed from here to hit the 3rd k.C.C at point 7. Mission 5 http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h157/ZeroTheBurninator/walkthrough/bike05.gif Point 1: Prepare boost before the race starts. Move forward towards point 2, collecting sufficient chim spheres and activate nitro boost. Continue to collect more chim spheres in point 3. Point 4: Hit the 1st K.C.C. You have to make a 180 degree turn from here. Again, the trick is to ski before the K.C.C and hit it while you turn 180 degrees instead of skiing after you hit K.C.C. Return back to point 1 and move towards point 5 by turning right. Point 5: Collect chim spheres in point 5 and hit the 2nd k.C.C in point 6. Collect more chim spheres in point 7. Point 7: From here, turn here and hit the 3rd K.C.C hiding behind the cliff. General tips: 1. You will want to race in a map where you can see, right? Choose an area which is bright and is in daylight, instead of nighttime. 2. Learn the shortest path in the map by trying again and again. When you are in an open area and you are making a right/left turn, don't make a 90 degree turn. Instead, turn early and make a curve turn. You want to save as much time as possible, right? 3. When you are stopped by obstacles/when nitro boost stops, do not restart the race immediately. Continue on to search for any possible places for you to save time in. Furthermore, you can train your skiing since there is no time limit. 4. Do not follow the steps blindly. If you find a route/approach that's more comfortable for you, use that route instead. ------------------------ Phase 13 - Keyword Guide (KIWORD) ------------------------ This lists all the Volume 2 keywords, followed by how to get them. ---------- 1st Word ---------- [ ] Buzzing -Topics [ ] Elegant – (B-S rank any level 5 area) [ ] Forgotten – (B-S rank any level 2 area) [ ] Essential - However, some Guild Shops will not appear if you use the log-out-log-in tatic. I tried by entering a field and returning back to Dol Dona to check. Here's the flow, but there is no absolute in which Guild Shop appears 1st. It's random, so you just have to continue to enter a field and return until you get the Guild Shop you want. Guards->Bad@ss->knights->Kestrel->ZOO->Medic->Salt Mania->Moon Tree->Empireo-> Trifle->Guards->(repeats the cycle again). Tip Submitted by Spartan0021: ------------------------------- Bring Endrance with you on tough areas. He has an infinite amount of "15" Healing Serums. If you use one healing serum and go back to his inventory, he still has 15. An infinite amount of healing serums for free. It can help a LOT when you are too busy fighting to use them, AND he doesn't have to wait for a skill bar to refill to use it. Give him a couple seconds and he can use another. This makes Endrance MUCH more useful than you would think and has saved me in many a battle 8-levels-over-my-head! Tip Submitted by Red Frost: ------------------------------- Raising Affection can be difficult sometimes. I’ve found a few ways to do it. There are benefits to raising affection. Sometimes you can’t get your friends to respond to certain Greeting Cards unless they like you a certain amount. Greeting Cards are a good way to raise affection, and learn about your friends. Their dialogue for receiving gifts changes when they like you more, as well. Plus, it’s just fun being a nice guy. XD --Texts, Books, and Scrolls-- One good way to raise affection, and I mean really good, is to give Party Members your Stat Up or Skill Teach items. Yeah, sounds crazy, but seriously, it works damn well. You can still use the item on anybody, but just give it to a person first. For example: You have a “Text of Power” and want to raise your strength. You also want to raise Atoli’s affection. Call her up, and give her the Text of Power. Then, make her use it on you. It raises her affection, and your strength. If you’re gonna teach someone a skill, or raise their stats, NEVER do it yourself. It does nothing for their affection. Give them the item first, then make them use it on themselves. And if you have a Beginner’s Book, it is a god-send for raising affection. --Alchemize-- Alchemize your friend’s items. It’s a good way to raise affection, because you are technically getting them gifts. Plus, it makes them better prepared for battle. On the note of gifts, give them the extra item you wish to alchemize for them. It doesn’t make much of a difference, but there is a difference. For example: Alkaid has a Spin Rib weapon, and you wish to alchemize it. Give her the extra Spin Rib, then alchemize it to her equipped one from her inventory. It doesn’t raise it a lot more than if you had just kept it and alchemized it to hers…But there is a small difference, and after a while, it can add up. And it’s not a big hassle to give them the item. Besides, I love her reactions for getting gifts......*cough*... (He's a rabid alkaid fanboy.) --Give them Stuff-- This one is pretty self-explanatory. Give them stuff. Even if it’s just junk, it can still be useful. Like Magic Scrolls and Health Items. It doesn’t raise their affection much, but everything adds up in the end. Giving them Magic Scrolls can be useful in battles. Go to their items and make them use a scroll. It raises your Morale Gauge when you tell Party Members to use items. Also, you can use scrolls consecutively. There is no delay time like when you use a Skill, so scrolls can sometimes rack up a quick Rengeki and deal constant damage. Magic also has the ability to incapacitate enemies for a bit. When giving scrolls, it’s not a bad idea to see what Party Members have higher element stats. Like, Atoli has a higher Water Element than her others. Haseo has higher Dark and Fire. Alkaid has high Wind and Fire. So, give them scrolls that they could use more effectively. Also, give them Customization items they can make better use of. Like, give Atoli an Olm Shell (Water) so she gets an extra boost for her Water Element and attacks. Tip submitted by Sotaka: ------------------------------- Tons of people want to raise their characters to max affection for this volume. Sometimes, this can be a lot harder than it sounds due to a lack of cards And sometimes, people desire to conserve these cards. Therefore, we have to find new, interesting ways of leveling their affection. Therefore, the "Favorite action" will assist you in this task. All of the characters have a certain "Favorite Action" aside from Rengeki's that can help raise their affection faster. While trades and leveling with them will also help with this, it might be faster to focus on their Favorite Action There are three types of Favorite Actions: --Combo-- Combo Favorite Action is when you complete a 16-hit chain. The combo counter at the upper left has to read 16 hits, and any beyond this will not affect it. For example, you'll get credit for 16, but not for 32(Multiple of 16, so I figured it would work - it didn't) or higher. Even after 50, you will not see it. I also believe there is a limit of how m any times you can do this on a single enemy (2 times, I believe), as it doesn't consistently work on bosses so that you can just spam it. Characters: Sakubo (Bo), Anteres, Silibus, Pi Tips: It's recommended you go to an on-level area to accomplish raising fame in this catagory. Take two Combo-users with you, so that you can get the bonuses quicker for both of them and raise them at the same rate. --Killing blow-- Killing Blow favorite actions means just that : The character can get a killing blow, and will gain the "Favorite Action" for it. Characters: Sakubo (Saku), Matsu, Piros the Third, Khun Tips: Killing blows can be harder to get. Some like to go to lower-level fields and let their characters go all-out on them, which will let them gather up killing blows fast. However, you lose the advantages of leveling / Rengeki's when you do this. Therefore, my advice: Go to an on-level field, and set your party members to Tenacity. With tenacity, they won't use Skills. Therefore, you can choose the time when you want them to use their skills. Fight as normal, and get the enemy down to 10% - The Doppleganger scythe is good for this, as it can reduce the enemy HP count to 10% on it's own. After they get to 10%, have the character use their strongest skill to get the kill. Do not have a Non-Killing blow user there, as they will sometimes steal the kill from them, and then you won't get the credit for it. --Critical HP healed-- This is healing a character who is in Flashing Red status. This is probably one of the hardest to do, unless you're fighting in a severly overleveled area (10-15 levels over you, depending on your own skill.) Characters: Alkaid, Atoli, Endrance Tips: Sometimes, it might just be faster to go with Rengeki / leveling with these characters. However, some like to go to fields 15 levels over themselves, and have the characters set on Tenacity so that they don't stunlock / kill the enemies. Make sure haseo has an Item Doubler equipped, to reduce the risk of DEATH O_O. Tip submitted by Tolgabar ------------------------------- Having problems getting a boss mob? 0WED-WVD1-R9JQV PC4H-EK59-MR9YY ------------------------ Phase 17 - Walkthrough (WALKTHRU) ------------------------ --Chapter 1: Compensation-- -Mac Anu- You'll appear right outside the Mac Anu @home door, set to talk with as many players as possible. Start out by going back to the door and entering Canard's @Home. -Canard @Home- Once inside, talk to Gaspard and then leave again. (yup, that's all they're forcing us to do in there O.o) -Mac Anu- Now that you are outside again, there are four groups of people (three players in each group aside from one that only has two) you need to talk to. Head straight to the Warp Point and warp down to the Harbor district. Once you're in the Harbor district, walk southeast to the closest pier, where the first group of players is standing. Talk to atleast one them and use the warp point to get to the Alchemy district. Now in the Alchemy district, head south to the group of players standing in front of the fountain. Talk to atleast one of them, get back to the Warp Point and head to the Central district. Now in the Central district, west to the fountain and you'll see the next group of players (they're the short people from the Medical Union :D) You know the drill, so do what you have to do and head back to the Warp Point again, this time aiming for the Dome district. Head up the stairs to go inside the Dome. To the right of the Chaos Gate, you'll find the remaining group of players. Talk to atleast one of them and you'll get a message from Yata telling you that there's a disturbance in the Central District. As ordered, head down to the fountain in the Central District using whatever means you wish. After the brief scene, you'll get another message from Yata, telling you to head over to the Sepent of Lore. Head over to the Mercenary district. A scene will ensue. Simply enter Raven's @Home through the @Home door. Yet another long scene is played. --Chapter 2: Pride-- You're off to Moon Tree, so haul yourself over to the Chaos Gate, invite Pai into your party, and warp to: /\Setting Eternity's Night Moon - Moon Tree @Home After the scene, there's really only one way to go (yes, that would be across the way too long bridge) so head somewhere in that direction and enter the big door. Use the Warp Point inside to get to the Throne Room where yet another big scene is shown. Now use the Warp Point in front of you to get back to Mac Anu. Invite Kuhn into your party and head out to your target area: /\Galloping Subtle Desert - Field Area Level: 43 Item Level: 46 Area Element: Blue orb, Yellow orb, Purple orb Mission: Reach the temple with Symbol Fragments Direct path to clear: Warp Point - South - East - East - Symbol Fragment Chest - Warp Point - North - West - Symbol Fragment Chest - North - Symbol Fragment Chest - Warp Point - Beast Temple The instant you arrive, you'll be put in a fight with some idiots from Kestrel. The further in you go, the more Kestrel PKs you will find. Just give them a beating if needed and towards the Beast Statue. On your way there you'll find some AIDA matter hovering. Avatar fight: AIDA Refer to the Avatar fights section for strategy and further information on this fight. After the fight, continue heading towards the Beast Temple, view the quick scene with Nala and head to the Beast Statue. After the long (and kickass) scene, take your loot form the statue and head to the Platform right outside the Beast Temple. Use it to get back to Mac Anu. Now your destination is the Raven @Home. Head over to the Mercenary district by whatever means and enter it for another great scene. Now leave Raven and head over to the Mac Anu Dome. --Chapter 3 - Escape-- Time to move out. Make sure you still have Kuhn and Pai in your party. You're heading for: /\ Hidden Forbidden Bulwark - The Morrigu Barrow Wall After some short instructions, head over to the Tri-edge sign on the wall and examine it. After the short conversation, you're to go back to Mac Anu and warp to a new area: /\According Floating Eradication - Dungeon Area Level: 43 Item Level: 45 Area Element: Red orb, Lightblue orb Mission: Get the treasure in the Beast Temple. Direct path to clear: West - South - Southeast - East - North - West - Down the stairs to FLOOR B2 - East - South - West - Southwest - Red Warp Point - All the way West - North - East - Northwest - West - North - East Just head towards the Beast Statue. Along the way, you'll run into two AIDA fights. After the second one, Pi will tell you that you can go back to Morrigu Barrow, but there's nothing stopping you from going the remaining short distance to the Beast Statue for some loot ^-^ In either case, finish up and get back to Mac Anu. It's time to get things done, so head over to: /\ Hidden Forbidden Bulwark - The Morrigu Barrow Wall Now then, walk over to the Tri-edge sign and examine it. You can warp now. After a quick scene, there'll be an avatar fight versus: AIDA Refer to the Avatar fights section for strategy and further information on this fight. After a bunch of scenes (they've got lots of kickass story-stuff going on in vol 2, even though the game has barely started at this point :D), you'll have finished the escape. --Chapter 4 - Smirk-- Back at your beloved Altimit OS screen, with 5 important unread mail. Read them all, especially the one from Atoli. Head over to The World application and log into the game. You're going to go meet her at the Alchemy district. Log in to Mac Anu and go there. Head south towards the fountain and a scene will trigger. You'll recieve e-mails, so your next objective is to simply log and and read them. The general message is "go to Ravens @Home", so log into the game and head over to the Mercenary District. Just enter Ravens @Home trough the big and nice wooden door. A scene will ensue. Shocking :o! After it, leave the @Home. You'll get a message from Silabus. Just turn around and go into the Canard @Home right away. After the scene comes another e-mail notice. Log out and check your inbox yet again. Yes, it's from Ovan. That means the next scene is most likely going to be long and kickass ;D Log into the game and head out to: /\ Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground - Hulle Granz Cathedral Walk inside and you'll reach the long and kickass scene I predicted ;D Afterwards, you'll get the oh-so-common e-mail popup. Log out of The World. --Chapter 5 - Transformation-- Alright, go read your new e-mails in your inbox. One of them tells you about the new root town, yet another one tells you that you now have a bigger @Home stationed in this root town and the top one is from Silabus, asking you to go to this new @Home and celebrate. Log in to The World, switch town to Dol Donna. Now this is a pretty place ^^ Now head over to the @Home. You can either just run north until you hit a stop or you can use Warp Point right north from the Chaos Gate. Yes that gigantic building is now your @Home. Head over to the door and go in. After the scene, you'll get Silabus and Gaspard in your party. You'll get a mail, but it's not too important so you can go read it later (it's basically just telling you that you can tune up your bike) Head over to the Quest Shop in the middle of Dol Donna (it's straight north from the Chaos Gate) and talk with the NPC there. There's only one quest in the list, so just accept it. After the scene, head over to the Chaos Gate. Warp over to: (-) Airy Engine's Waltz - Field Area Level: 48 Item Level: 51 Area Element: Green orb Mission: There is no mission. Direct path to clear: East - Fight enemy on hill - South - Fight enemy on hill - Northwest - West - Fight enemy on hill - East - Fight Boss Now to place these devices you were given by the quest npc, simply defeat the enemies on the hill. Follow the path I've specified and make sure you avoid the boss until you've fought the enemies on all three hills. It'll make your life easier. After that obviously comes the boss: #Rain #Cloud This fight is pretty much nothing. Just treat them as regular enemies because, well, they pretty much are by now. After the fight however, they fuse together for yet another boss fight: #Rain Cloud All you have to do is still whack away. You'll be faced with a lot more resistance (he's got a -lot- more health and power now) You should be used to fighting big-sized enemies by now. The only difference is that this one doesn't have any armor meter (yay :D). After winning, you'll be taken back to Dol Donna. A lot of scenes will ensue, you'll get to see Sirius (AND ALKAID <3!) After these are finished, you'll have a new e-mail. You'll want to log out for these. --Chapter 6 - Alkaid-- Alrighty, you've gotten an e-mail from Pi that is of interest. Read it and you'll be on your way, yup, that's right, TO FIND ALKAID :D! Log in to The World. Who's that? Yup, it's our(my) beloved Alkaid. Yes, she just forced you to be with her (I sure as hell don't complain ^-^) Invite her into your party and use the Chaos Gate to get to: (-) Severe Unclean Gray Dance - Dungeon Area Level: 51 Item Level: 55 Area Element: Blue orb, green orb, purple orb Mission: Get the treasure in the Beast Temple. Direct path to clear: West - Northern Warp Point - West - South - West - South - West - North - West - Down to the next floor - East - South - East - North - East - South - East At the end of the dungeon (that would be the Beast Statue), you'll get a nice and pretty cutscene. After it's over, you will sign up for the next tournament. Use the Chaos Gate in Dol Donna to head over to Lumina Cloth. Once there, run straight north to the registration desk and talk to the NPC. You'll want to choose the "Tournament" option. Resign your title as the Emperor and you'll be treated another scene. Afterwards, log out of the game. --Chapter 7 - Holy Palace-- Alright, you've got mail. Head over and read them and you'll be moved along in the story. Now log in to the game (which should get you to Lumina Cloth) and you'll find Pi. After the scene, head over to the Arena Registration desk and register with the npc. You'll be treated with a dramatic scene and be sent on your way. Haseo uses his psychic powers to predict the incoming e-mail. Follow his awesome prediction and log out of The World. Now head over to your inbox for a mail from Alkaid (yay :D) --Chapter 8 - Match-- Log in to the game. You're off to the Dol Donna quest shop. You know where it is if you've gotten this far, so get over there and sign up for this new quest. You'll need a third party-member aside from Alkaid. Take whoever you prefer of those that are online. After the scene that initiates the quest, head to the Chaos Gate and warp to: (-) Standing Calming Western - Field Area Level: 50 Item Level: 53 Area Element: Red orb, Yellow orb Mission: There is no mission. Direct path to clear: East - South - South - East - Hill by the northern end of this island. Just follow the directions to the end of the map where you'll see the Unlucky Animal. Kick it (it shouldn't be too hard) and you're done. The game will automatically take you out of the area and back to the quest shop. You have mail, so log out of The World. --Chapter 9 - Report-- Head over to your mail inbox and you'll spot a mail from Atoli. Read it and then log in to the game. You're heading over to the Canard @Home in Dol Donna. Be sure to invite Atoli and then enter the @Home. After the scene, log out to check your e-mail. --Chapter 10 - Vermillion-- Alright, now you've finally gotten the mail telling you about your first Arena match. Log in, head over to Lumina Cloth and invite Alkaid and Atoli to your party. Now run over to the registration desk and join the tournament. After the scene, you'll be put in the Arena waiting hall. Simply walk up to the Warp Point when you want to start your first match. This is just your average PK battle, so just whack away. After the fight, you'll be treated to nice cutscenes as usual and a new e-mail. Log out of The World and check it. --Chapter 11 - Arrival-- You have two e-mails, both talking about the long awaited Job Extension. Head over to Dol Donna, watch the scene on the way and head over to the Quest Shop. Take the quest "Seeker of Karma" and invite Silabus and Gaspard to your party so you can begin the quest. After the scene, head out to: (-) Burning Fallen Seven Sins - Dungeon Area Level: 54 Item Level: 57 Area Element: Red orb, Green orb Mission: Get the treasure in the Beast Temple Direct path to clear: West - West - Northwest - North - East - North - West - Warp Point - Southwest - South - East - North - Warp Point - West - Down the stairs - East - Northern Warp Point - West - West - West - South - Warp Point - Down the stairs - East - East - South - East This dungeon is long and full of monsters. Along the way are several doors that require you to answer a few questions. (they drain some Chim Spheres if you answer incorrectly). For the answers to these questions, please refer to the appropriate section of this guide. On the way, Haseo will leave Gaspard and Silabus behind and you'll have to run alone to the Beast Statue. At the Beast Statue, you'll see a scene after which you are to run back to Silabus and Gaspard. The path from the Beast Statue to them is West - North - West. After that, simply head East - South - East to get back to the Beast Statue and finish up the Job Extension quest. Some cutscenes will drag you back to the Quest Shop in Dol Donna where you'll finally get your Job Extension. The Terror of Death has been reborn :D After the scenes are all finished, you'll have a new e-mail. Log out of The World. --Chapter 12 - Intimacy-- In your inbox is an e-mail from Atoli asking you to come level up. Log in to The World and invite Alkaid and Atoli into your party. Then head over to Dol Donna and use the Chaos Gate to go to: (-) Excusing Illusion's Route - Field Area Level: 58 Item Level: 62 Area Element: Blue orb, Yellow orb, Purple orb Mission: Reach the temple with Symbol Fragments Direct path to clear: West - Symbol Fragment Chest - West - Warp Point - North - Northeast - Symbol Fragment Chest - East Warp Point - East - Symbol Fragment Chest - Red Warp Point This area is pretty much just "Go through the area." Nothing special happens in the area itself, but after you've taken the treasure in the Beast Temple, you'll get a scene. After you're back at Dol Donna, you'll be left alone with an e-mail popup. Log out of The World. --Chapter 13 - Secrecy-- You'll have an interesting e-mail from Nala. Read it, then log in to The World. Get yourself over to Dol Donna to leave for: (-) Clever Genius's Moon Raven - Field Area Level: 60 Item Level: 62 Area Element: Blue orb, Green orb, Lightblue orb Mission: Reach the temple with Symbol Fragments Direct path to clear: Northeast Warp Point - West - South - East - South - Red Warp Point When you get to the Beast Temple, look for the Tri-Edge sign. it should be on the opposite side of the entrance. Just go up and examine the sign to get warped to a new area. After the scene, go to the Chaos Gate to warp out of the area and log out of The World. ("I'll log out and go check my email or something" - Haseo, the psychic) --Chapter 14 - Glamour-- Go check your Tournament-related e-mail and then log in to the game. Invite Alkaid and Atoli into your party and head over to the Registration Desk in Lumina Cloth. It's time for the second tournament match :D Just head over to the Warp Point to start the match anytime you wish. After winning this match against Hiiragi (you may want to take Nala's advice and use the armor you were given), you'll be treated a few cutscenes and an e-mail popup. Log out of The World. --Chapter 15 - Destination-- Alrighty, head over to your inbox and read the e-mail from Alkaid. Afterwards, just log in to The World and get yourself to Dol Donna. Invite Alkaid into your party and head out to: (-) Troubled Her Antitheses - Field Area Level: 63 Item Level: 66 Area Element: Green orb, Lightblue orb Mission: Defeat the boss Direct path to clear: East - Southeast - Red Warp Point - West - North - North - Red Warp Point - Boss Mid-way through this field, you'll get a scene with Alkaid regarding Endrance. After the scene, just keep on moving towards the boss, despite their "shall we head back?" comment. After the fight, you'll get a pair of weapons and a nice cutscene. Once that's done, leave the field and log out of The World. ---TO BE COMPLETED--- ----------------------- Phase 18 - Crimson Vs (CRIMZON) ----------------------- What is Crimson VS? ------------------------------- Crimson VS is a very simple game that actually plays by itself. You create a deck which consists of one General card and three Unit cards. Then you register the deck and the game handles the rest automatically. Tutorial ------------------------------- When you first run the Crimson VS program from the Altimit Mine OS screen, a short tutorial will appear. The tutorial walks you through the basics of building a deck, testing that deck, and registering it online. Once you have done all this, simply continue playing .hack as normal. Every minute that the game is on, your deck will be paired up against another deck and the two will battle. There is no way to stop Crimson VS from running (even if the game is paused card battles will still happen). Tips ----- Have Fun: Just as in real card games there is no such thing as a perfect deck. Every deck is going to lose some of the time. With that in mind, don't be afraid to experiment. Crimson VS can actually be a lot of fun despite it being a single player game against AI opponents. Try building your own decks and see what happens. Don't worry if you make a mistake. As long as you check in once in a while, you will be fine. (I made a deck that went 0-23! That didn't stop me from becoming the Champ!) Watch Your Record: Every once in a while drop in on the Crimson VS and check your score (your win to loss ratio). If you find you are not doing as well as you would like, then think about changing your deck around some. Watch The Logs: One of the handy things about Crimson VS is that it keeps a log of the last 30 card battles that happened. Check the logs if you want to know what kind of decks your deck is losing against. (To view these, choose "VS" from the first menu and then "Logs" from the second. Then scroll through and select the one you want to watch.) Follow The Trends: Just like normal cards, Crimson VS goes through trends. That is to say, a certain type of card will become very popular over other types. Look for this when you are checking the Logs. If you happen to notice that most of the players are running decks with all Assult cards (the blue hexagon with a wing on it) then think about building a deck with Snipe cards (the red hexagon with a gun on it) to give yourself the advantage. RTFM...or...Read the F***ing Message Board: As you progress through the game, be sure to check the Crimson VS message board for tips on how best to play. A lot of the things discussed on the message board are good tips and strategies for ANY card games, not just Crimson VS. But if that's not enough incentive, there is also the three hidden cards... The Three Hidden Cards ------------------------------- Flame of Consumption Restraint of Discipline Don't Kick!! These three cards cannot be acquired through booster packs. Instead they are found in the chest inside the beast temple. But there is a special requirement. If you have been checking the message boards as you should, eventually someone will talk about the three hidden cards and remark that there is a specific area word needed to find them. After a little more waiting, someone will post the area word "Competing". Once you have this area word, simply make an area with this as the first word and instead of an item in the beast temple you will find a Crimson VS card. NOTE: You may get the same card more than once. Simply revisit the area until you have at least one of each. Rank Cards -------------- The follwing cards are only acquired by achieving the appropriate rank... Champion: Haseo at Dawn Rank 1: ??? Rank 10: Baptism of Smile Rank 25: Impenetrable Barrier Rank 50: Grim Reaper Rondo Champion Fight -------------------- Once you have reached Rank 1 (you'll be there soon enough, have faith) you have the chance to challenege the Champion. The Champion is none other than everyone's favorite midget Gaspard. Here is the deck I used to beat him, this is by no means the only choice: 1st card: Bland Self (No. 75) 2nd card: Impenetrable Barrier (No. 65) 3rd card: Order Upheld (No. 76) General: Endurance the Exquisite (No. 20) The Cards ------------- LEGEND ----------------------- JA = Junction Ability S = Snipe JSEU = Junctioned Shield Element Unit R = Rare SR = Super Rare UR = Ultra Rare General Cards ----------------------- No.001 Haseo at Dawn | Assault | 13 Cha | 16 HP | 3 AP | (UR) No.002 Kite | Assault | 10 Cha | 16 HP | 3 AP | (SR) No.003 Haseo the Black Rogue | Assault | 9 Cha | 16 HP | 4 AP | (SR) No.004 Black Rose | Assault | 11 Cha | 11 HP | 3 AP |(R) No.005 Haseo the Terror of Death | Assault | 6 Cha | 20 HP | 4 AP | (R) No.006 Pi - Raven | Assault | 8 Cha | 17 HP | 2 AP | (C) No.007 Balmung | Assault | 7 Cha | 15 HP | 4 AP | (C) No.008 Tabby - Twilight Brigade | Assault | 12 Cha | 14 HP | 1 AP | (C) No.009 Degenerating Haseo | Assault | 7 Cha | 23 HP | 2 AP | (C) No.010 Shino - Twilight Brigade | Shield | 14 Cha | 16 HP | 2 AP | (UR) No.011 Sakisaka - Twilight Brigade | Shield | 10 Cha | 20 HP | 2 AP | (SR) No.012 Haseo Counterattacks | Shield | 8 Cha | 23 HP | 3 AP | (SR) No.013 Gaspard - Canard | Shield | 11 Cha | 15 HP | 2 AP | (R) No.014 Atoli - Moon Tree | Shield | 10 Cha | 17 HP | 2 AP | (R) No.015 Sakubo - Trifle | Shield | 10 Cha | 10 HP | 2 AP | (C) No.016 Orca | Shield | 9 Cha | 11 HP | 4 AP | (C) No.017 Raid of New Punishers | Shield | 6 Cha | 29 HP | 1 AP | (C) No.018 Ovan the Wanderer | S | 12 Cha | 12 HP | 4 AP | (UR) No.019 Tri-Edge | S | 5 Cha | 25 HP | 5 AP | (SR) No.020 Endrance the Exquisite | S | 13 Cha | 10 HP | 3 AP | (SR) No.021 Kuhn - Raven | S | 12 Cha | 10 HP | 2 AP | (R) No.022 Bordeaux the Mad Blade | S | 8 Cha | 24 HP | 2 AP | (R) No.023 Ovan the Twilight | S | 11 Cha | 8 HP | 2 AP | (C) No.024 Minstral | S | 10 Cha | 14 HP | 1 AP | (C) No.025 Silabus - Canard | S | 9 Cha | 18 HP | 2 AP | (C) Sub-Cards -------------------------- No.026 Kappa Rappa Kappa | Assault | 1 Cost | JA: Whirlwind Assault | (C) Effect: Removes 1 JA gained through a JSEU from an enemy General.
