Go up to the third floor and talk to the King. Buy equipment and magic spells from the town. Head to a castle north of the Cornelia castle (Garland's castle.) Find Garland, fight Garland. After the bridge is built, head north past the bridge and you should come across some sort of cave. This is Matoya's cave but apparently, Matoya can't see due to the loss of his glass eye. You must find the glass eye...later. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.2 Pravoka area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Head east after crossing the bridge north of Cornelia. After you travel for a while with fighting more difficult enemies, you will find the town of Pravoka. The only goal in this town is to find the pirates and defeat the pirates. You can find them by taking a left by the four-way intersection and going north. Now, these pirates are very easy with little HP, defeat them all. Once you defeat the pirates, the leader will promise to stop harassing the people of Pravoka and he will also give you a boat. Yeeeeaaa....... Stock up on potions and get new weapons, armor and magic spells. Leave the town and head into your new boat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.3 Elfhiem area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Sadly, even though you are traveling at very fast speeds, sharks and other monsters seem to be able to jump into your boat and attack. It's very amazing actually. Once you get in your boat, head back to the Cornelia dock and head south following the western coast. You should soon see a dock, sail into it to get out of your boat. Once you are out of your boat, Elfhiem is south of there. Go to Elfhiem if you haven't figured it out yet. Once you have entered Elfhiem, stock up on everything. Magic spells tend to get a little pricy here but nothing compared to what comes later in the game. Your next stop is the Marsh Cave. Buy many potions and antidotes, you will need them for the what-seems-like the never-ending Marsh Cave. Now, head west from Elfhiem until you get to the coast, then head south. You should soon see a hole in the ground, enter the hole in the ground. You are now in the Marsh Cave. Congrats. Your goal here is to find the 'Crown' battle your way through this difficult dungeon until you find this treasure. Sadly, there is no other way to leave this cave/dungeon then to battle your way back up. Yes, do that. Now head back to Elfhiem, heal at the Inn and stock up to fight another boss. If you haven't already heard, the Elf Prince is fast asleep and cannot wake up. The problem is that the dark elf Astos has put a curse on him. You now have to fight Astos because Elfhiem obviously doesn't have any soldiers. Once you are ready, head back to the coast but go north instead of south. You should soon see a castle. Enter the castle. Find and fight Astos. Really isn't that hard if you level up enough. After you defeat Astos, you will get the crystal eye or something like that. This is what Matoya was looking for. Head back to Elfhiem, stock up. Then get back in your boat, head to the Cornelia dock (north) and then head more north on land to Matoya's cave. Once you give Matoya the crystal eye, he will then give you his most powerful potion, the 'Jolt Tonic.' This jolt tonic is used to wake up the Prince in Elfhiem. Head back to Elfhiem and talk to the guy standing next to the sleeping Prince. Once the Prince wakes up, he will give you a 'Mystic Key' with this key you can now enter all the doors that were locked in the dungeons. Cool, huh? The most important thing to find is the 'Nitro Powder' found in Cornelia castle, which is needed in Mt. Durergar below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.4 Mt. Durergar area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you have the nitro powder, you can enter Mt. Durergar (which you can find by heading west of Cornelia) without having to go look for something else. Find a dwarf near the south of the cave and talk to him. He will then proceed to blow a canal in the water so you can travel to the western sea in your boat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.5 Melmond area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Your next destination is the town of Melmond. Pass through the canal and head west. By talking around, you can soon learn that the earth here is being decayed by some sort of fiend to the south (later figured out to be the Lich, Fiend of the Earth.) For now, stock up, buy new magic and rest at the inn. Now it is time to go to the 'Terra Cavern' witch consists of five levels. To get there, head west from Melmond on land. Once you get there, head to the third level. Once there, talk to a blue bat that will transform into the Vampire. Fight the Vampire. After defeating him, open the chest to get the 'Star Ruby.' You can continue but only for a few more steps for you will soon see that the way into the deeper part of the dungeon is blocked by some sort of stone. Go back to Melmond, heal and stock up if you have to. Here is where it gets tricky. If you haven't already, go to the 'Titan's Cave' which is right before the terra cavern. Talk to the rock titan dude who will take your ruby in exchange for passage. Take the stairs on the other side of the cave and head to the other cave outside, the 'Sage's Cave.' Once you get into that cave, talk to the Sage and he will give you some sort of rod. This rod is used to move that piece of stone in the terra cavern. Back to Melmond again if you have to. Once you get to the stone thing in the terra cavern again, examine it to use the rod. Travel deeper into the cavern until you get to the Lich, Fiend of the Earth. Fight the Lich. After you defeat the Lich, you will see in the game menu that one of the crystals has lighted up. This is what 'Return the Crystals to Grace' means. Now, step on the circley thing to teleport out of the cavern. Go back to Melmond and heal/stock up. Next destination please! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.6 Crescent Lake area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you are done in Melmond, get back on your ship. Now go to the canal but not through the canal. Go south along the coast. You will eventually pass a dock right next to Elfhiem, so far so good. Keep following the coast until you find the next dock, disembark and head west. You should eventually see a town surrounding by a crescent lake hence the name. Enter the town. Once you get to the town, stock up on potions, weapons, armor and new magic spells. If you are unable to buy new magic spells even though you have enough Gil, that just means your magic level isn't high enough. Level up to raise the level. Now what you need to do is find a bunch of sages standing around doing nothing. Go to the north part of the town and head east along a hidden path to find them. Talk to them until one gives you a canoe. If you haven't figured it out yet, you can not travel in the rivers with your ship. And the best part is that you can enter a river anywhere. Your next destination is the volcano. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.7 Volcano area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you leave Crescent Lake, head northwest along the many rivers until you come upon a volcano. Good, you made it to the volcano, enter the volcano and through the many floors. Once you reach the last floor (five I think) you will see the second fiend, Marilith, the Fiend of Fire...or lava. Once victory is yours, the second red crystal will light up. Then use the teleporter to get out. Head back to Crescent Lake and do whatever is needed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.8 Ice Cavern area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is where things get very interesting. Once you leave Crescent Lake, head back to your boat and follow the coast north until you reach another port. Then, find the rivers and follow them until you reach the Ice Cavern. Now this dungeon is a little tricky. It is only in a few rooms, but keep your eyes out for 'cracks' in the floor. If you step on one of these, you will fall to another floor of the dungeon, but that is what you need to do soon enough. I was only warning you so that you can get some treasures that I was unable to get. Once you enter a certain room, you should see cracks on the floor, two chests in the back and the 'Levistone' which is your main goal in this cavern. But, you are unable to get it unless you step on one of the cracks, I was only telling you to NOT step on the cracks so that you can get the two chests. Once the loot is yours, step on one of the cracks (doesn't matter which one.) You will now be in a really small room. Make your way into the next level (south of this level and find the stairs.) Once there, find some more cracks in the floor. Stepping on the cracks will put you close to the Levistone. Get the Levistone. Once you get the Levistone, fall back into the cracks and head north of this level. You should find some stairs which will bring you right out of the dungeon. Head back to Crescent Lake and stock/heal up. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.9 Gaia area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Your next destination is the town of Gaia, but unfortunately, Gaia is surround by mountains. This is where the 'Airship' comes into play. Once you are done is Crescent Lake, head southish on you ship until you find a small desert. Go into the desert to get the airship with the Levistone. Now that you have the airship, getting around is a lot easier. There are no encounters and you go a lot faster. Now, fly northish to find Gaia. It is a small town surrounded by mountains, hence the need for the airship. Go into Gaia and stock up on new weapons, armor and magic. Alright, your next stop is the 'Citadel of Trials.' Unfortunately, you have to land far away to get there, no worries though. So look for a shiny castle and a spot to land. Now once you are there, some dude will tell you to sit on a throne to begin. Do that and start the trial. You are now looking for the 'Rats Tail' a token of valor or whatever. This dungeon consists of teleporters that will teleport you around the room. Keep trying new teleporters until you find the next room. Once you find the rats tail, sit on the throne and head back to your airship. Now what you have to do is go southwest of that castle area to a whole bunch of islands with holes in them. Find the one that has a long hallway that leads south to stairs and then into a big room. In this big room sits Bahamut, the King of the Dragons. Because you now have your rat's tail, he will change your class for you. Mages become Wizards, Warriors become Knights and so on. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.10 Onrac area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you have upgraded your classes, return to Gaia and stock up. Get back in your airship and head far south west to a desert with a little patch of desert to it's north west. Land anywhere you can so you can walk to that little part of the desert. Once there, buy the Farrie for 40000 Gil or something like that. Return to Gaia and look for a small pond in the northeast of the town. The Farrie should then give you Oxyale. Take this oxyale to Onrac which is just east of where you got the farrie. You could either land next to the desert and canoe across the river (which is quicker) or you can land to the southwest and walk the way up. Once there, stock up as needed and go to the southeast of the town and look for a person with a submarine. Now that you have the Oxyale, she will let you use the submarine to get to the next dungeon and the third Fiend. This dungeon is a little tricky, there are two parts each with three floors. To get to the first part, head northeast of the first floor and north west to get to the second part, follow me so far. The third floor of the first area has a whole bunch of mermaids and the 'Rosetta Stone' in a chest. The third floor of the second area has Kraken, the Fiend of water. Do whatever you want first, but each needs to be completed. I recommend getting the stone first so you can teleport out of the dungeon quickly after taking out Kraken. Leave the dungeon, heal/stock. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.11 Waterfall area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Before going to complete the task of the Rosetta Stone, get the 'Warp Cube' in the waterfall directly north of Onrac. Land a ways away then use the canoe to get there. Once there, head far west and then south in the dungeon. You should then see a robot with some chests. Talk to the robot to get the warp cube. Your next destination is back to Melmond. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.12 Lufenia area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you are back in Melmond, head northeast past the gravestones and over a bridge to a guy next to more gravestones. Talk to him and he will teach you a language so you can speak in the town of Lufenia. Go back to Gaia and head a little southeast until you find a grey town surround by forests. You will have to land far in the north next to lake and walk the way down. Once you are in Lufenia, talk to everyone until you get some sort of trinket so you can enter the 'Mirage Tower.' There is a White and Black magic shop past the eastern wall and to the north of this town. Other then that, nothing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.13 Mirage Tower area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Head back to the gigantic desert with the structure in the middle. You have to land to the east of this structure so do so and go into the tower. Once you reach the third floor, you can use the warp cube to get to the 'Flying Fortress' and the final and fourth Fiend, Tiamat. Once you find Tiamat, defeat him and step on the transporter. After the battle, head to any town and heal/stock up. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.14 Chaos Dungeon area ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you are ready for the final phase of the game, head to Garland's Cave. Enter the cave and if you do, you can talk to those five bats who were the 'Sky People.' The ones who failed...the losers. Anyway, look at Garland's black orbish thing, examine it and the four crystals (that are now lighted) will open a portal 2000 years in the past. Interesting, huh? Anyway, once you enter the portal, there are many stairs ahead and big disappointments if you are not strong enough. I suggest having all your characters to be at least level 60. Also, make sure if have the maximum number of potions, high potions, ethers and antidotes that you can carry for the battles ahead. Alright, once you start, the first set of stairs is to the southeast. Next set: Directly to the right. Next set: Head south on the left path, then head east when it splits, enter the room and examine the thing. You will need the Lute or whatever you got from the Princess at the start of the game. Next set: Northwest Next set: West (should be a bright room.) Next set: Southeast (you will find the second Lich here before going down.) Next set: Head west then north into the room (through the golden door,) then head east and through the door to the south then to the stairs to the west. (You will find the second Marilith before going down.) Next set: Southeast (you will find the Kraken again before getting next to the stairs this time.) Next set: Northeast (you will find the second Tiamat in the northern part of this room, not close to the stairs. You can also find the strongest sword in the game in the southeast of this room.) Once you go down those stairs, head to the big room to the south and fight the final boss. Save of course. -Chaos guide is listed below- ======================================================================= II- Boss Guide ======================================================================= ~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.1 Garland ~~~~~~~~~~~~ HP- 212 Attack- 15 Accuracy- 27 Defense- 8 Agility- 6 Intelligence- 12 Evasion- 12 Magic Defense- 64 Gil- 250 EXP- 130 Treasure- Longsword Weakness- None Resistance- None ~~~~~~~~~~ 2.2 Astos ~~~~~~~~~~ HP- 420 Attack- 30 Accuracy- 42 Defense- 18 Agility- 39 Intelligence- 24 Evasion- 78 Magic Defense- 170 Gil- 2000 EXP- 2250 Treasure- Mythril Sword Weakness- None Resistance- None ~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.3 Vampire ~~~~~~~~~~~~ HP- 280 Attack- 76 Accuracy- 39 Defense- 26 Agility- 36 Intelligence- 26 Evasion- 72 Magic Defense- 75 Gil- 2000 EXP- 1200 Treasure- None Weakness- Fire, Dia Resistance- Quake, Ice, Stone, Paralysis, Poison, Darkness, Sleep, Silence, Confusion, Mind, Death ~~~~~~~~~ 2.4 Lich ~~~~~~~~~ HP- 1200 Attack- 40 Accuracy- 49 Defense- 40 Agility- 12 Intelligence- 30 Evasion- 24 Magic Defense- 120 Gil- 3000 EXP- 2200 Treasure- Dry Ether Weakness- Fire, Dia Resistance- Ice, Stone, Paralysis, Poison, Darkness, Sleep, Silence, Confusion, Mind, Death ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.5 Marilith ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HP- 1440 Attack- 40 Accuracy- 63 Defense- 50 Agility- 24 Intelligence- 32 Evasion- 48 Magic Defense- 183 Gil- 3000 EXP- 2475 Treasure- Golden Apple Weakness- Paralysis, Darkness, Sleep, Silence, Confusion, Mind Resistance- Fire, Lighting, Stone, Poison ~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.6 Kraken ~~~~~~~~~~~ HP- 1800 Attack- 50 Accuracy- 90 Defense- 60 Agility- 42 Intelligence- 32 Evasion- 84 Magic Defense- 160 Gil- 5000 EXP- 4245 Treasure- Kikuichimonji Weakness- Lightning Resistance- Quake, Fire ~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.7 Tiamat ~~~~~~~~~~~ HP- 2400 Attack- 53 Accuracy- 80 Defense- 80 Agility- 36 Intelligence- 45 Evasion- 72 Magic Defense- 200 Gil- 6000 EXP- 5496 Treasure- None Weakness- Stone, Poison Resistance- Quake, Fire, Lightning, Ice ~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.8 Lich-2 ~~~~~~~~~~~ HP- 2800 Attack- 50 Accuracy- 64 Defense- 80 Agility- 24 Intelligence- 34 Evasion- 48 Magic Defense- 140 Gil- 1 EXP- 2000 Treasure- None Weakness- Dia Resistance- Ice, Stone, Paralysis, Poison, Darkness, Sleep, Silence, Confusion, Mind, Death ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.9 Marilith-2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HP- 3200 Attack- 60 Accuracy- 63 Defense- 80 Agility- 30 Intelligence- 41 Evasion- 60 Magic Defense- 183 Gil- 1 EXP- 2000 Treasure- None Weakness- None Resistance- Fire, Lightning, Ice, Stone, Poison ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.10 Kraken-2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HP- 3600 Attack- 60 Accuracy- 114 Defense- 80 Agility- 49 Intelligence- 41 Evasion- 98 Magic Defense- 200 Gil- 1 EXP- 2000 Treasure- Eye Drops Weakness- None Resistance- Quake, Fire ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.11 Tiamat-2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HP- 5500 Attack- 75 Accuracy- 85 Defense- 90 Agility- 45 Intelligence- 38 Evasion- 90 Magic Defense- 200 Gil- 1 EXP- 2000 Treasure- Rune Staff Weakness- None Resistance- Quake, Fire, Lightning, Ice ~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.12 Chaos ~~~~~~~~~~~ Since this boss is such a badass, I will point out a few pointers. *Chaos tends to cast Curaja on himself which will give him 9999 HP. This magic will cause around 500-600 damage points (if you are around level 70.) *Use Healaga or Healera with one of your mages every turn. This will prevent your characters from dying and wasting a turn on 'Full-life.'
