I'll be honest with you. I haven't played the first Digital Devil Saga game, meaning this is my first game of the series. However, I really do enjoy this game as I'd probably enjoy the first one of the series. The game is surely a unique one, and I'm just falling in love with it as I play along. The guide will try to be as spoiler-free as possible, but I'm not making any promises. =================== 2.) Battle Basics =================== If there's one thing that stands out in the Digital Devil Saga series, it's the battle system. It's turn based, but the game uses Turn Icons during battle. I'll try to pinpoint everything in this crudely drawn ASCII map. O----------------------------------------------O | | | | | SOLAR DATA T1 T3 | | T2 | | | | | | | | | | Enemy 1 Enemy 2 Enemy 3 | | | | | | | | Character 1 Character 2 Character 3 | | | | ATTACK | | Skill 1 | | Skill 2 | | Skill 3 | | Skill 4 | | PASS | O----------------------------------------------O Please forgive me for the crude drawing. Anyways, the battle field is mostly shapred out like that. Solar Data - This appears in both the field and battle field and is located in the top lefthand corner. The Solar Data necessarily doesn't have a huge effect, but can play into certain matters. For instance, if it's either 7/8 or MAX before you encounter a random encounter, you have a chance of going into Berserk Mode. I'll go more into detail about that later. T1,T2,T3 - These are your turn icons. When it's your turn to act, the turn icons will be blue. When an enemy gets to attack, their turn icon will be red. You get three each turn, whereas the enemy gets as many as there are enemies on the field. So if there are three enemies, there will be three red turn icons. Turn Icons are your key to victory. Normally attacking an enemy will use up one turn icon. However, if you land a Critical Hit, you'll only use 1/2 of a turn icon, which is indicated by the flashing of the icon. Missing an enemy will result in losing two turn icons. And having your spell blocked, reflected, or absorbed will use up all of your turn icons. Hitting an enemies weakness will result in using only 1/2 of a turn icon. The enemies turn icons work the same way as yours do with the same benefits and consequences. Plan out your attacks ahead of time to ensure the fastest win possible. Enemy 1,2,3 - The enemies on the screen. Character 1,2,3 - Your characters on the screen. Attack, Skill 1-4, Pass - Your commands. On a quick note, Passing your turn will only use up 1/2 of a turn icon. Battles can be either easy or hard, depending on how the battle starts out. A normal battle will have all your characters already in demon form. However, you won't always get the first action, and in some cases, this can lead to a quick Game Over screen, depending on your current health and what attacks the enemies use. If you're ambushed, you'll start out in human form. You'll have the ability to transform, but it will take up one turn icon. In human form, all elemental attacks done on your party will always be the same, as your human form has the same elemental resistance for every element. You're also null to Expel spells. Sometimes, when the Solar Data is at either 7/8, or MAX, there's a chance when you'll enter a battle in Berserk Mode. What Berserk Mode is, is that you'll enter a battle in a half demon, half human mode. In this form, your attack soars through the roof, and you earn Double Karma if you win. However, your defense is extremely lower, and you're more vulnerable to Critical Hits. If you find yourself in trouble while in Berserk Mode, escape. The escape rate while in Berserk Mode is always 100%. Ailments are a big part of a battle. Most ailments will remain on your character during the battle, and on the field map. Use the correct item to cure the ailment as fast as possible. The ailments are as followed: -Poison: Your basic ailment in any RPG game. When a character becomes poisoned, they'll lose some HP after every move they make, and they'll also lose some HP if you take too many steps on the field map. Dis-Poison and Posmudi cures Poison. -Sleep: Another basic RPG ailment. When a character becomes asleep, they're even more vulnerable to Critical Attacks, and they lose theit turn. However, if a character is asleep, some HP and MP will be recovered when it's their turn. Panacea, Patra, and Me Patra cures Sleep. -Charm: A common RPG ailment. When a character becomes Charmed, they do one of three things; do nothing and lose a turn, heal an enemy, or attack a party member. Needless to say, this is a very nasty ailment, and it should be cured immediately. Panacea, Patra, and Me Patra cures Charm. -Panic: When a character becomes Paniced, they'll do one of the following actions; do nothing and lose a turn, use a random skill on an enemy, run away from the battle, revert to their human form, or drop some money. Panacea, Patra, and Me Patra cure Panic. -Mute: When a character becomes Muted, that character won't be able to cast any kind of magic spells. It lasts throughout the entire battle and still remains on that character on the field map. Dis-Mute and Closedi cures Mute. -Curse: When a character becomes Cursed, they recieve the same amount of damage they do when they attack an enemy. If the enemy is killed, the character won't recieve any damage. Being cursed also makes that character more vulnerable to Death attacks. Dis-Curse and Cursedi cures Curse. -Stone: When a character becomes Stoned, they're practically in the same state as being dead. When a stoned character is hit, they automatically die. If your entire party is stoned, you get the Game Over screen. Dis-Stone and Petradi cures Stone. -Stun: When a character is Stunned, they have a better chance of missing the enemy completely, and are more vulnerable to Critical Attacks. Dis-Stun and Paraladi cures Stun. -Freeze: When a character is Frozen, the Critical Rate torwards them is at 100%. When frozen, the character will lose any Null buffs on them. The character is unfrozen their next turn. Nothing cures Freeze. -Ache: When a character has a Stomache ache, they randomly lose a turn whenever their turn comes up. In order for a character to get a Stomache Ache, they'd need to Devour several demons without waiting inbetween. A character with a Stomache Ache also doesn't recieve any AP points. Dis-Ache and Achedi cures Ache. -Bind: When a character is bound, they won't be able to make any kind of move whatsoever. The Critical Rate torwards a bound character is always 100%. Nothing cures Bind. -Shock: When a character is shocked, they'll be in a frozen like state, except they won't lose any buffs. Nothing cures Shock. -Fright: This ailment only occurs torwards enemies. When you attack an enemies weakness, or block an enemies attack, they'll sometimes become frightened, and little blue bubbles appear over their head. Hunt skills do more damage to frightened enemies, and death Hunt skills work 100%. -Bat: Whenever a character is in Bat form, their stats drastically go down and are vulnerable to Force attacks. Nothing cures the Bat form. =================== 4.) Mantra Grid =================== The Mantra Grid in Digital Devil Saga 2 is pretty much a giant Hex. This allows you to customize your characters with whatever spells you want them to have. However, planning out on what Mantras characters learn is the best way to work the Mantra Grid. Each Mantra costs money, ranging from $1000 to over one million. It's best to set up at least one of your party members as the main healer, buffer, and ailment dealer in your party. It's also good to have someone that's NOT in your active party to get a decent amount of heal and ailment healing spells. That way, you'll have a healer in both the battle field and on the field map. Another party member should work with magic, and another either physical attacks, magic, or a mix of both. =================== 5.) Tips =================== Here are a few helpful hints while playing Digital Devil Saga 2. -Learn Mutual Karma as soon as you can. It's in one of the first purple Mantras. Mutual Karma allows those non active party members equipped with it to recieve all Karma that's recieved in battle. This is a very useful skill and should be learned as soon as possible. -Determine who will play which role. Once you get two other characters, it'll be wise to determine who gets which role, as if you wait too long, you'll find yourself in a heaping amount of trouble. -Make out a quick plan during battles. The faster you win a battle, the more money you'll earn at the end. If you fight some enemies you've already faced, think of a strategy to take them all out in your first turn if you can. If you can't, think of a way to take out most of them to reduce the damage you take. -Always test out all elements on a new enemy. Sometimes you'll fight a mini boss that won't show its weakness. The only way to find out then is to test out all elemental and ailment skills you have on the enemy until one works. Analyzing regular enemies, though, is the best way to find out the enemies weakness. -Save at every terminal. This is crucial. Save every chance you get, as sometimes, a battle can turn very ugly, very quickly. This also includes normal battles, especially if the enemy gets to attack first and starts exploiting your characters weakness. -Explore every map. Don't leave any place unexplored, as you may miss some plants, items, or even some field hunts. Chests are too valuable to miss in this game, as you'll usually get some good items. You never, NEVER, want to miss any plants either, as you can sell them for a good amount of money. -Even out Serph's stats. This is also crucial. Try to keep all of Serph's stats on an even pace, including Luck. Critical attacks are your best friend in this game, and Luck increases the chance of them, and other fun stuff. Also don't neglect Agi. However, don't be afraid to stick all three points into one stat every now and then. Just don't do it every level. Only do it once in a blue moon. -Have someone be your field healer. Have one of your inactive characters have Dia spells and ailment healing spells so you can heal on the field map. -Do NOT use MP items on the field map unless you're seriously lacking MP. MP items are hard to come across, and are pretty damn expensive. Only use them in situations in which your life is on the line. -Retreat if the situation gets bad. Don't try to tough it out if you're getting knocked around badly. Retreat and heal. You can get the Game Over screen faster than you think. -Don't go wasting your money on the stores. Selling plants is excellent for money, but don't go wasting that money on items you may not need. Meaning don't buy any Ammo, as you'll be fighting in your demon form most of the time. Buy only healing items, and some ailment healing items. -If you're in berserk mode, and your first attack misses, run. Don't take the risk of having your next character attack, as there's a good chance your party could quickly become eliminated. -Get the Spyglass (Rank 3) from the shop as soon as you can. The Spyglass is a reuseable item that allows you to use Analyze, which will free up a slot on whoever has the skill Analyze equipped on them. This doesn't mean spend all your money to quickly get it, though. =================== 6.) Walkthrough =================== ============== OCCUPIED SECTOR ============== (001) Watch the opening scenes, and choose whichever option for Serph. Once in control, head through the door at the other end. Head down and then head into the next room for some items. Go through the door at the end of the hall here to exit. Make your way to the lower right section and go down the ladder. Go north and watch the scene. Examine the Large Karma Terminal. These are pretty useful. They allow you to save your game, download Mantra, Restore yourself, and Teleport to another Large Karma Terminal in the same area. We can't download Mantra yet, so just save your game. Head down the ally here and you'll run into your first battle. Once they're defeated, go through the door at the end of the path. Go through the next door for another battle. Use Bufu with Serph to attack the enemies weakness. Use the healing stream here. Random encounters are going to start happening now, so be prepared. Go through the door near you. You'll run into another fight as you advance forward. Once defeated, go through the next door. At the intersection, go right and fight the battle here. Grab the item box here and head through the door on the other side. Use the Small Karma Terminal here to save your game. Now go through the other door. Another fight. Take the enemy out with Tera once it transforms. After it falls, head to the end of the pathway and go through the door. You'll notice a Karma Soldier running. Ignore him and take the left path for an item box. Now head in the direction that the Karma Soldier was running in. Talk with the woman on the floor, and you'll get into antoehr fight. Take care of them. Go through the door near you. Head through the door on the other side for some items, then go back and head along the upper path. Heal in here if you need to. Head through the right door. In here, head up for a scene and then go to the right. Examine the rotating yellow thingie for some ammo. Exit the room, and go to the upper left and head into the next room through the door. Use the Small Karma Terminal if you need to save. Follow the path and go through the upper right door for a fight. Once it falls, go through the door. Go north for the next door. Head to the right and heal up if you need to. Open up the item box in here. Exit and go through the other door for another fight. A reinforcement will appear after the enemies are gone, so take it out. Go through the door and head through the door at the end for an item box. Exit and head north. Go right at the intersection for an item. Head back to the intersection and go left and through the door. Take the right path for an item box. Head back and take the ladder upwards. Go through the left door for some item boxes. Head back and save your game at the Small Karma Terminal. Make sure to equip Zan on Gale and Void Earth on Argilla if you haven't already. When ready, head through the right door. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA VETALA | O------------------O | HP | 470 | O------------------O O------------------O | AERIAL ANDRAS x2 | O------------------O | HP | 200 | O------------------O -Make sure to take out the Andras first, as one will always be casting Void Force. Since Vetala is weak against Force, this will pose as a problem. Use Tera with Argilla to take out the Andras. Once they're gone, Vetala will warn you ahead of time that he's going to use a powerful move, and uses one turn charging up for it. When your turn comes, use Void Earth, and use Zan with Gale to attack his weakness. Attack with Serph. Void Earth will block Terra Burst, automatically ending Vetala's turn. Just keep using Void Earth if he charges up for Terra Burst, and have Gale keep using Zan and make sure to heal and you'll come out on top. ----------------------------- Now that Dumbo's evil twin is out of the way, head north for some scenes. ============== UNDERGROUND CITY ============== (002) Use the Rejuvenating Light and Small Karma Terminal here to heal up and save. There's a shop by the Terminal, but you can't enter it yet. Go to the right over the bridge to the next screen. Enter the building and talk with Roland. He's standing by the door. Choose the second option and a lengthy cutscene will occur. After the scene, you'll get the Hacking Disk, which is used for downloading Mantra. Head back to where the Small Karma Terminal is, and enter the shop, Mad Mart. After some talking, you'll sell your Ring for $10,000. Now's a good time to learn some Mantra. Make sure to have Argilla learn the Mantra with Media in it. It'll come in handy soon. Once ready, head back to where Roland was, and talk to the member by the elevator. Ride the elevator. ============== UNDERWATER CABLE ============== (003) Head for the cave. Once inside, go up and left for an item. Head down the right side now and continue on to the end of the path here for an item. Head back and take the right path this time. Go down and left for another item, and then head back and go to the right and take the ladder here. Hit the switch and go through the door. Watch the scenes. Head north for an item box, and then go through the door on the right. You'll fight a battle, in which one of the enemies claim that they have a Karma Ring equipped to them. Take out that enemy first, and equip the Ring on someone. Head back to the repairman, and then go back to where you got the Karma Ring and go down the ladder. Use the Small Karma Terminal, and go to the right for an item. Go back to the Terminal and go to the left. Go north for an item and go up the upper right ladder first. Flip the switch, and go back down and take the other ladder. Grab the item in here and flip the switch and go through the door. Use the Small Karma Terminal and save your game if you wish. Go through the right door. Go to the right for an item, and then take the left ladder for another item. Backtrack to the ladders and take the right one. Go to the right for an item, and then follow the path to the end for a ladder. Go through the door and grab the item here. Use the Small Karma Terminal if you want to, and go through the door on the lower left side. Once the fight is over, use the Life Terminal here. Head back to where the repairman is, and you'll find him surrounded by 3 Karma Soldiers. Take them out. Make your way back to the broken switch and examine it. Once it's fixed, hit it and grab the item here, and go down the ladder. Keep going for another ladder. Flip both of the switches here, and then backtrack to where the repairman fixed the broken switch. Flip it and take the right ladder. Follow the path and flip the switch when you come to that. Make your way back to the gate that just opened. Use the Small Karma Terminal to save your game and climb the ladder when you're ready. ----------------------------- O--------------------------O | YAKSA HECATONCHEIRES | O--------------------------O | HIT POINTS | 970 | O--------------------------O -This fight is pretty difficult because of one thing; his Hundred Fist attack. All of his other attacks are physical, and do about 15 damage. However, when he uses his Hundred Fist attack, its power increases. The first time he uses it, it'll only hit for about 20 damage. The second time he uses it, the power will double and it'll do around 40 damage. The third time he uses it, the power is tripled, and it'll deal about 60 damage. And the fourth time he uses it, it'll do nearly 80 damage, if not more to your party. Needless to say, you'll need someone as a dedicated healer for this fight, meaning Argilla. If you have Media equipped on her, use it. Attacking Hecta will result in a counter attack, so stick with using Tera for any character that has it. Once Hundred Fist is up to Quadruple Power, it will stay like that until either you win, or he wins. So keep using Media, and use Tera with anyone that has it and you'll eventually win. If you don't have Media, don't be afraid to use a couple of Rations, and maybe a Medical Kit if needed. ----------------------------- You'll recieve a Yellow Crystal after the battle, which allows you to customize your Karma Rings. Head south through the door for a few cutscenes. Cielo and Roland will decide to join up with you. Now's a good time to make a decision on who will play which role in the game. I recommend replacing Argilla with Cielo, and having Cielo be your main healer, ailment dealer, and buffer/debuffer. Keep Argilla as your field healer. Climb up the stairs now and you'll be at the Internment Facility. ============== INTERNMENT FACILITY ============== (004) Once you enter, go to the left for a Life Terminal and a Small Karma Terminal. Use them if needed and head to the right and you'll run into a shop. Sell any plants you have and buy some Dis-Stuns. Keep following the path for a fight. Go to the left for an item and head up. Go left at the door for another item. Go back to the door and take it. Go right for an item, and then head back and take the left path. Go left along the way for an item and head to the end of the hall for another item. Turn and go to the right, and go to the right of the door for another item. Take the door. Head for the next door. The upper left door contains a Field Hunt. Go through the right door and you'll find a huge machine that will come into play later. Use the Large Karma Terminal here, and head down stairs. You'll run into the Jailer that some of the Lokapala members were talking about. You'll get into a battle with him, and he'll black bind all of your characters and throw you into jail. A member of the Lokapala will come knocking on your door to lend a hand. He gives you a keyword to getting into a certain cell. Once outside of the cell, Kumbhanda will notice you, and so the chase begins. He starts out walking slowly enough, but if he gets close enough, he'll make a charge at you. He's smart, too, so he'll turn around if he notices you trying to go around him. To get to the second floor, you'll need to get a key. In order to get it, head for the east cellblocks, and try to open the one at the bottom. Choose "Unbearable Solar Noise" and he'll let you enter. You'll get the key. Exit and avoid the Jailer and go down the stairs. On the second floor, Kumbhanda jumps down and starts to chase after you again. There are fences in this area, meaning if you're not careful, you can easily get trapped. Bring up your map and think of a way to get to the cell you need to find. The cellblock as on the west side, on the lowest part of the wall. Choose "Canned Surprise" to enter the cell. You'll recieve a key for the next floor, and a Label for the can you're going to get. Once you exit the cell, you'll notice Kumbhanda by the door leading to the third floor. You'll also notice some mist coming from the ground. If you step on one of these, they'll make you immobile for a couple of seconds. You're going to need to lure out Kumbhanda, and dodge the mist. Get close enough so that he'll run at you, then quickly turn around and circle around to get to the gate. Open it to go downstairs. On the third floor, Kumbhanda will jump down and will repeat his process of chasing you around. This time however, there are more fences, and the mist is already activated. You're going to need to get to the south cellblocks on the west side of the gate. Once you get there, you'll find a demon corpse on the ground. You'll then exit the cell, and Kumbhanda will be right across the fence from where the cell is. Like last time, he's guarding the gate that leads to the next floor. Luring him out and dodging him is going to be tricky this time. Bring up your map and think out a plan on how to lure him out, and how to dodge him while avoiding the mist. Being trapped in one of the mists is probably unavoidable, but you'll probably have a good enough of a head start to endure it before Kumbhanda reaches you. Once you think out your plan, try to execute it. If you get caught, rethink it, or time yourself better. Either way, you'll get it eventually. Just wanted to toss in, the music that plays on the three floors is just great. Fits the atmosphere perfectly. On the fourth floor, you won't have to deal with Kumbhanda anymore. I can't tell you how relieved I was when I figured this out. There are a couple of items in the upper portions of the room. Get them and use the Large Karma Terminal here to save your game. You don't want to go through all that crap with Kumbhanda again, do you? Go into the Command Center and get the key. Upon exiting, you'll be treated to a fight. Go over to the Large Karma Terminal and teleport to the first floor where the huge machine is. Go into the Control Room and turn on the power. Exit and put the corpse onto the conveyor belt. Follow the conveyor belt and watch each stage. At the end, examine the machine to get the canned meat. Go back to the Large Karma Terminal and warp back to B4. Go back to the Command Center and put the canned meat on the table. Exit and Kumbhanda will stagger in. He heads for the control room, and eats the meat... only to find out that it's rotten. Kumbhanda tries to limp his way out, but you get to him before he goes back up the stairs. Now it's time to turn the tables. About time, too. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA KUMBHANDA | O------------------O | HP | 1000 | O------------------O -If you have Cielo and Gale in this fight, you shouldn't have too much trouble. Even if you don't have those two, anyone with Zio and Void Force and Media will work just fine. Kumbhanda still has his Black Bind attack, but now there's a good chance it won't bind all three of your characters. If binded, a character will recieve a Critical Hit if attacked. Have Gale or someone else put up Void Force every turn to block Kumbhanda's Force attacks. Have Cielo or whoever else has Zio cast it on him to exploit his weakness. Watch out for Stun Wave, and use Dis-Stuns as needed. Use Media when you need to and keep Void Force up, alongside with a barrage of Zio's, and you'll win this fight easily. ----------------------------- Once he's gone, you'll automatically be outside. Head to the right to exit. Head to the Underground City to sell any plants you have and to heal yourself. If you need to learn any new Mantras, do so now and had back to the map. Choose the last option to enter our next destination. ============== KARMA SOCIETY TOWER ============== (005) Before entering the tower, there's an NPC in the upper right section. Talk with him. Whichever option you choose will net you a Gem. I chose Serph and recieved a Pink Sapphire. Enter the tower. Watch the scene and head up the stairs. Take the elevator to 6F. Go down the path and use the Large Karma Terminal here. Save your game and exit. Follow the path for the next elevator. Take it to 10F. Along the way, go through the right door for an item. Head down and go through the door here. You'll encounter some enemies. However, a choice will come up during the conversation. Choose the second option to get the first attack. Get the item here and go down the lower left path. Take the left passageway for an item. Go back and go through the right door, and go on through the next door. Use the Small Karma Terminal to save your game and continue on. Go through the door and grab the item in the left corner. Go through the door on the right and keep going until you find a Life Terminal. Go on for a scene. Once the fight is over, go through the door. Head through the next set of doors and go through the right door for an item. Go back out and go up the stairs and through the door. Go all the way to the furthest door for a Field Hunt. Once that's done with, go through the door you found along the way for a Small Karma Terminal. Take the last door in this room to continue on. Grab the item on the left and go to the right. Head to the other side of the hall for an item and then through the right door for another item. Go through the left door now and then to the right. Keep going and save at the next Small Karma Terminal. Go through the door and head through the right door for a couple of items. Exit and take the door at the north. Don't be fooled by the symbol. Opening it activates a fight. Waste them and keep going until you find a shop. Sell any plants you might have. Head down the path and take the elevator. Use the Small Karma Terminal here and save your game. Go to the door and you'll be prompted about a strong presence. Before going through, make sure to equip someone with both Elec Void and Fire. Make sure someone is also equipped with their strongest Earth, Fire, and Force spells, and make sure that no multi target attack spells are equipped on anyone. When ready, go on through. You'll find three soldiers that surround you. You'll get into a fight with them. They start out as humans. Once you do enough damage, the real battle begins. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA CU SITH | O------------------O | HP | 900 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA UBELLURIS | O------------------O | HP | 990 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA GANGA | O------------------O | HP | 720 | O------------------O -This fight is going to be a tough one. Each of the three demons acts on a certain role. Cu Sith is the buffer and healer, though he rarely uses any healing spells. Ubelluris will pummel you with physical attacks, whereas Ganga is the most dangerous, as she's able to cast multi Zio and Agi spells on your party. However, there's no telling which she'll use, meaning whoever has Void Elec and Fire on will have to guess which one to use. Needless to say, you'll want to take out Ganga out, as she can easily exploit your weak points. Have whoever has Tera equipped use it on Ganga, while whoever has Void Elec and Fire should use one of them every turn and hope that you use the right one. Make sure that someone has Media on as well and heal after every turn. Since you're able to hit a weakness every turn, your buffer and healer will get two turns, unless someone misses. Once Ganga is gone, focus on Ubelluris with your strongest Force based attacks. Once Ubelluris is gone, use your strongest Fire based attacks on Cu Sith. Keep yourself healed and you'll come out on top. ----------------------------- After the battle, go through the left door. Follow the path and go through the door for an item. Head back and take the elevator up. Go through the left door near you for an item. Take the right path this time and grab the item to the right. Now go through the left door. Along the way, go through the right door for an item. Head down the left pathway this time and you'll eventually find a Large Karma Terminal. Make good use of it and heal yourself, save, and set any new Mantras if needed. Head to the door at the other end for an item and go to the left and up the stairs. Go through doors and take the elevator to 44F. There are a couple of items here if you take the time to follow the path. If you want them, go get them. If not, ignore the elevator and continue on. Go into the right room for an item, and then go down the path here for a door. Use the healing terminal if you need to. Go on and go into the right room for a couple more items. Head back and go down the path until you reach the Small Karma Terminal. Save your game and get any new Mantras if you need them. Before going through the next door, equip someone with Void Elec and Media. Someone should have Force, Earth, and Fire spells as well. Once ready, head through the door to find the three Tribhvana again. They're pissed from last time, and are out for your head. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA CU SITH | O------------------O | HP | 1100 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA UBELLURIS | O------------------O | HP | 1680 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA GANGA | O------------------O | HP | 990 | O------------------O -This is the same fight as before, but this time, they have a new combo move and have a higher amount of HP. Start off the battle by casting Void Elec with whoever has it, while whoever has Tera should focus on Ganga. Soon, the three will use their new combo, Bolt Rain, which is an electric attack. If you have Void Elec up, you'll shield it. Continue hitting Ganga with Tera and Physical attacks. Once she falls, they can't use their Bolt Rain combo anymore. The other two are the same as before, so have someone ready with Media after Ubelluris's attacks. Use your strongest Force attacks on Ubelluris (remember, he's immune to physical attacks) and once he falls, use your strongest Fire attacks on Cu Sith. ----------------------------- Once done, take the elevator up. Use the Small Karma Terminal here. Before advancing any further, make sure someone has Void Fire and some Ice skills equipped. Continue on and you'll eventually find a door that leads to the Medical room. Upon entering it, you're treated to a couple of scenes involving Heat. When given the choice, choose the second option. After one more scene after that choice, you're in your next fight. The first portion of the fight has only four Karma Soldiers. When you take care of them, your real opponent appears. ----------------------------- O------------------O | ASURA AGNI | O------------------O | HP | 2000 | O------------------O O------------------O | BEAST GDON | O------------------O | HP | 820 | O------------------O -Agni comes with two Gdons. Usually, one of the Gdon's will use any Ice nulling barriers, so if they do, use physical attacks on them. Whenever Agni does Mind Charge, set up Void Fire on your next turn. If you're using Serph, Agni will always use his fire spells on Serph. With Void Fire, his powered up Agi spells will be useless. Use Ice spells on the Gdon's. Once they're gone, Agni should be simple to take out as long as you keep Void Fire up after he does his Mind Charge. Just avoid using physical attacks as well, since Agni tends to counter. A lot. ----------------------------- Go through the next door and use the healing terminal here. Head up the stairs. Continue on and you'll trigger a cutscene. After it, you'll be at the Laboratory Dome. Before entering, head back to the Underground City and sell any plants you may have. Purchase the Spyglass if it's available to you. Once ready, head back to the Laboratory Dome, and enter the building. ============== EGG INSTALLATION ============== (006) Head north and use the shop to the left near the elevator. Take the elevator down and check the corpse to the right of you for an item. Head to the end of the hallway for a Large Karma Terminal. Save your game and take the other path adn go down the stairs. You'll find a locked door. Use the Small Karma Terminal and take the right door. Examine the corpse and head through the left door this time for an item. Head back to the locked door and go through. Head to the right for an elevator and ride it down. Head down the path here and use the Small Karma Terminal. Examine the rooms and you'll find a researcher. Talking with him, you'll recieve one of the key cards. Go to the door that has a 01 over it and use your newly obtain key card to open it. Go right at the intersection and inspect the corpse for an item. Head back and go north and go down the stairs. Take either the north door or right door. Follow the path to run into some more rooms. Examine the rooms as two of them contain some items. Now head for the door at the end. Talk with the researchers here for the second key card. Make your way back to B10 and examine the door with the 02 over it. Get the item and keep backtracking until you reach the other 02 door. Use the keycard on it and go on through. Go into the right room for an item. Head back out and go into the left room and examine the corpse for an item. Head back out again and go through the door at the end. Use the Small Karma Terminal when you come across it. Go through the left door for a couple of items. Head back out and take the furthest door on the right for a couple more items, as well as a fight. Once the fight is gone, you'll get the third key card. Backtrack to the 03 door and try to open it. You'll me prompted to enter a password. If you open up your item menu and look under SP Items, and examine the third keycard, you'll notice a series of numbers at the bottom which represent the password. Either way, the password is 11771409. Go on through and go down the stairs. Head into the door on the right for an item. Head back to the hall and keep going. Go through the left door once you come across it for an item, and then go through the door at the end of the hall. Use the healing terminal if needed and go through the lower right door. Examine the corpse for the fourth key card. Exit and take the other door on the right for a Field Hunt. Head back to the 04 door and enter the password. The password this time is 40051918. Go through and take the stairs down. Go through the door that's nearest to the 05 door. You'll get into a fight in here. You'll recieve the final key card. Don't forget to examine the corpse. Use the Small Karma Terminal when you get to it and backtrack to the 05 door. Examine the corpse near it for a slip of paper that reads A=1, B=2, C=3, and Z=26. If you also examine the key card, you'll notice that it says ABYSS as it's password. If you put the slip of paper together with the password, and think out the numbers, you can figure it out. For those that don't know, the slip of paper has the numbers of the alphabet on them. Since A is the first letter in the alphabet, A=1. B is the second letter in the alphabet, so B=2 and it goes on like that until Z, which is the 26th letter of the alphabet, so Z=26. So if the password is ABYSS, the password would be 12251919. Go through the door at the end of the hall and use the small karma terminal here. Go through the left door for an item. Head back and go up to the right door. Before entering, equip your characters with any Tera, Agi, and Zan spells they know, as well as either Void Fire or Void Elec, or both. Also equip Media on at least two people. When ready, go on through. You'll encounter one of the members of the Tribhvana. He gives the party a nice smile with red on his teeth. He points out that he ate the other two Tribhvanas, and Cielo starts to get pissed. Cielo steps up, and so the battle begins. Note that Cielo is required for this fight. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA ABADDON | O------------------O | HP | 3200 | O------------------O -This is your first real challenge, and if you haven't been leveling Cielo, or haven't given him any healing Mantras, this battle will be on the verge of impossible. Abaddon has the power of all 3 Tribhvanas, meaning he'll take the form of Ubelluris, Ganga, and Cu Sith. He'll start off with Ubelluris's properties for sure, so use Force spells. Abaddon gets 3 Press Turns, so make sure to keep your health up with Media. After you deal enough damage, he'll eat one of your characters. The character is random, and if it's one of your characters that can both heal and use attack magic, you'll be in a bit of trouble. After a few turns, he'll spit him out after using Noxious Gas, which hurts. A LOT. The character that's also thrown out has 1 HP, so heal them immediately. He'll then use his last press turn in switching attributes. This time, he'll have either Cu Sith's, or Ganga's properties. It's completely random, so your best bet is to either guess yourself, or wait and see what he does. Sitting by isn't good, so use either a Tera spell, or Agi spell until you exploit the weakness. If it's Ganga, use Void Fire or Void Elec with whoever has it equipped and let loose with a barrage of Tera spells. Terazi will be a great help if you have it. Keep yourself healed with Media, and after more damage, he'll eat one of your characters, and then spew him back out after using Noxious Gas. Repeat the same process once he turns into Cu Sith, only use Agi spells. Keep yourself healed, and he'll eat you again after you do enough damage. At this point, he'll cycle through the properties randomly until he dies, so keep at it and you'll bring him down eventually. ----------------------------- Head back and go save your game. Now go back to where your party members are and head for the elevator. Once down, go open the door with the key you recieved at the end of the previous fight. You'll be treated with a scene in which Heat rushes at your party and impales Serph. You'll be given a choice. Choose the first option. After the scene, choose the Power Plant. ============== POWER PLANT ============== (007) When you enter, watch the scene and go into the left room for an item. Head into the right room for a Small Karma Terminal. There's also a shop, so sell any plants you may have. Head through the next door. Examine the broken monitor and a scene will occur. Head to the right and activate the switch. Head past the gate. Use the Small Karma Terminal here and go through the left door. Find the next switch and use the healing terminal if needed. Head back to the gate and go through it. Take the left door for an item, as well as the right door. Head through the last door. Take the left door for another Small Karma Terminal and a few items, as well as a switch. Once the next gate opens, go through it for a fight. This is more like a mini boss than a real boss fight. Just use Zio spells and heal when necessary. Not really a hard fight. Activate the switch at the back here. Head back to the gate and go through the right door. Grab any items you find through the doors and once you reach the switch, activate it. You'll eventually end back up near the beginning. Use one of the switches so that the back gate is open, whereas the front gate is closed. Head back to the two gates, and go through the back gate for the same mini boss fight as before. Use the same tactics, and activate the switch in the back here. Head to the nearest Small Karma Terminal and save your game. Head to the newly opened Gate. Before going through, make sure to equip someone with Void Fire, and make sure to have someone with Media on, and make sure to have your Zio spells on. Go on through for a fight. ----------------------------- O------------------O | DEVICE GATE CORE | O------------------O | HP | 2150 | O------------------O O---------------------O | DEVICE LASER CANNON | O---------------------O | HIT POINTS | 1200 | O---------------------O -This fight is somewhat like the previous ones, only this time, there's a Core on the gate. It'll start to countdown from 5. Once the Core opens, make sure to cast Void Fire to shield the Flare Cannon. Use Zio spells on the two lesser cannons. They're easy to take down. Once they're gone, the Core will go into Genocide mode, and remain open until it's defeated, so make sure to use Void Fire every turn from now on. Keep using your best Zio spells and it'll eventually malfunction. ----------------------------- Keep going forward and use the Small Karma Terminal in one of the rooms. Before advancing any further, equip your best Agi skills. Once ready, advance on for another fight. The battle starts off with three Dragon Nagas. Use your Agi spells to waste them. Once they're gone, the real battle begins. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA RAJA NAGA | O------------------O | HP | 2500 | O------------------O O------------------O | DRAGON NAGA | O------------------O | HP | 600 | O------------------O -This fight can be a huge pain in the ass. The Dragon Nagas love to cast Void Fire, which is Raja's weakness. Getting rid of them may sound like the best solution, but once you do, Raja immediately calls in another one about 85% of the time. If there are two Dragon Nagas on the field alongside with Raja, they'll use the Conviction combo attack which does heavy damage, so heal immediately after that. Use Earth spells on the Nagas here, and when you get an opening, cast your strongest Agi spell on Raja, or if there's a Void Fire up, use your strongest Force based spells. A Zanma can do around 180 damage or so with the Boost equipped, so it's a nice substitute. Just make sure to keep yourself healed, and try to keep your aim on Raja and he'll eventually fall. ----------------------------- Roland leaves the party this time. Keep going and check the right room for an item, and then check the next right room for another item. Head through the door and head into the door straight across from you for a scene. During the scene, Argilla will leave, and Sera will join up. Argilla will find Roland being nibbled on by the huge demon. Sera has the same Mantras and stats that Serph had, so no worries about having to play catch up with her. Once you gain control, exit for a small fight. Now head for the door with the EXIT sign over it. Head for the Underground City and sell off any plants you might have, and then head for the Laboratory Dome and enter the building. ============== EGG INSTALLATION ============== (008) Make sure to stop by the store before riding the elevator. Buy some Light Balls (get your mind out of the gutter) and Core Shields. Ride the elevator down and use a Light Ball to lighten the room up. If you get into a random encounter in the darkness, there's a high chance of being ambushed. Head straight ahead for a Large Karma Terminal. Head back out and go down the stairs and go through the left door from the Small Karma Terminal. Grab the item and head back out and continue to follow the path here. After the fight, head into the end door for an item and then take the elevator. You'll find some warp portals here. There's a key in following the portals to find the right direction. If you listen carefully, you'll sometimes hear a growling type of noise through some of the portals. Use those portals, as they lead to where you need to go. The paths are pretty straight forward, so use the portals that have a growling noise coming out of them. Make sure to save your game at the Small Karma Terminals. Eventually, you'll reach a door that has a loud growling noise coming out of it. Before entering, if you have it, equip Null Panic, your strongest Zio spells, and Void Fire. Also make sure to have some Dis-Mutes on you. Also have Mediarama on. When ready, head through the door to find a huge Agni. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA VRITRA | O------------------O | HP | 3000 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA TENTACLE | O------------------O | HP | 500 | O------------------O -This battle is going to be a pain if you're underleveled, or don't have any strong magic spells on you. Vritra gets 4 Press Turns; 2 for him, and 1 for each Tentacle. You can't damage with Vritra if the Tentacles are still active, so if you have Maziodyne, use that to quickly eliminate the Tentacles. Use Sukunda or Sukukaja, or both will work just fine. Cast Void Fire to shield Sera from Agidyne. If the Tentacles are still alive, Vritra will also use Silent Howl, so use a Dis-Mute if anyone gets silenced. Once the Tentacles go down, brace yourself. Use your best Zio spells (Ziodyne works incredibly well here with Elec Amp). On Vritra's next turn, he'll use Inferno Roar, which hits for over 120 damage, and then follows that with a Sonic Wave which will Panic a character. Heal immediately and use a Panacea if needed. Eventually, Vritra will regenerate his Tentacles, so repeat the same process while staying healed until he falls. ----------------------------- Afterwards, a long scene with Serph will occur, showing his earlier days as a researcher, as well as with Heat and Argilla. Soon, it will be Serph and Heat in a boss fight of their own. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA REAL VARNA | O------------------O | HP | 1700 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA FAKE VARNA | O------------------O | HP | 1700 | O------------------O -You have Agni for this fight, which makes this battle way too easy. Use Agidyne with Agni on the Varnas while Serph either heals or follows suit with his strongest Agi spells. The only attacks that will pose as a threat are Black Impulse and White Impulse, which does about 70 damage. Keep yourself healed and use Agidyne, and you'll easily win this fight. ----------------------------- Once the fight is over, choose the first option when given the choice. Heat will run off, and you're left to control Serph to find him. There aren't any random encounters, so don't worry. Make your way to the elevator and ride it to the next floor. Keep going and enter the room to find Heat. Pick any choice you want. After the scene, Serph joins up with you again. Serph will be lagging in Mantras if you took the time to get some new Mantras. The Warp Holes are also gone, so go ahead and explore the rooms you didn't explore for some items. You'll be at the entrance now. Head for the Airport. ============== AIRPORT ============== (009) A couple of things to note here. Once you complete the Airport, there's no turning back, so before you exit the Airport, make sure you're well prepared. If you wish to defeat the 4 Archangels, this is your last chance. Also, if you haven't been doing so yet, make sure to set up Serph's Mantra path different from Sera's. You'll see why soon enough. One last thing, make sure to equip Null Nerve on your characters, as one of the enemies in the Airport, Nyx, can put your characters to sleep, and then use Calm Death which kills all sleeping characters. Once ready, watch the scene and venture inside. Head straight ahead and use the Small Karma Terminal. Head to the left and head up the stairs in the next room. Go left for an item and head back and take the other path and you'll get into a fight. Go down the stairs once they're defeated. Head through the fence on the left and go through the right door for an item. Head for the left door now. Keep going and turn to the right and you'll find a Small Karma Terminal. Use it and follow the path and go left and go through the door. A fight occurs here. Once they're gone, grab the chests on the left and right side of the rooms and head up the stairs. Use the Large Karma Terminal here and go down the left path first. Go down the stairs and get the item here. Go back to the Large Karma Terminal. If no one has Medirama or Mediarahan, I strongly suggest learning either one of them right now. Take the right path and go right at the end of the path for an item. Continue on and you'll bump into another item. Head back and go through the door and go down the stairs. Go into the left room for an item and then head to the right. Go left and head up the stairs. Use the Small Karma Terminal here and go through the door for a fight. Ignore the first set of stairs and go down the second set for an item. Backtrack and go down the first set of stairs. Follow the path and head through the door. At the end of this room is an object. Grab it and head down the middle. Head to the right for another item and proceed on until you find another Small Karma Terminal. Before going through the next door, take off ANY ailment dealing spells you have on your first character, if you have any. Also equip your strongest single target Fire spells (you should have Agidyne by now). When ready, head on through for a fight. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA CHERNOBOG | O------------------O | HP | 3500 | O------------------O -Chernobog is a unique boss, to say the least. Once the battle starts, Chernobog will use Calamity, which will make two shadow figures out of the character in the first slot. This is why I told you to take off any ailment inducing skills you may have had on your first character. The Doppelgangers have the exact same skills on the first character as, as well as the same weaknesses and strengths. Chernobog will then turn into a Sword, and won't be affected by any attacks, but he won't attack either. Focus on one Doppelganger at a time, using their weakness while protecting your own. Once they're both gone, Chernobog will form back and start attacking you. As long as someone has Medirama on, the final stretch should be a breeze. Just pound him with your strongest single target fire spells and heal when needed, and he'll be gone soon. ----------------------------- Once he's gone, use the shop in the next room. Sell any plants you may have (Jasmine's sell for a good amount of money here) and buy any items you may need. If you're low on Light Balls, buy some of them, as you'll need them soon. Head through the other door and use the Small Karma Terminal and save your game and assign some new Mantras if you need to. Go down the stairs. Use a Light Ball down here and go left for an item. Go back and head to the right and head straight ahead and you'll encounter another fight. The enemy pattern is about to change here, so adjust your skills accordingly. Head into the right room for an item. Head back out and go left and then north. Head to the right now and use the Small Karma Terminal here. Head into the left room for an item and head back and go to the right now. Go right and take the left and you'll find a Field Hunt. Do it if you please. The extra AP and Cash never hurt anyone. Take the elevator again and head to the left this time. Head to the left again for an item and then head back and continue down the path. Keep going and head into the door near the stairs for an item. Go up the stairs now. Enter the nearest room for a healing terminal. Follow the path for a Small Karma Terminal. Save your game. Before entering, make sure to equip some stat boosting spells (namely Rakukaja if you have it and Makakaja, and also Makanda and Tarunda if you have them). Take off any Tera skills you may have, and equip someone with Mediarama. If you're using Gale, also equip Elec Drain or Void Elec. When ready, head on through for another fight. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA KARTIKEYA | O------------------O | HP | 3900 | O------------------O -Once the battle starts, cast your stat boosting spells on you and cast Drain/ Void Elec. Kartikeya uses Zio and Zan spells mostly, and with Drain/Void Elec, you'll have Gale's weakness covered. Start using your strongest spells that aren't of the Tera class. Use Taruna and Makanda once Kartikeya starts to buff himself. After you do enough damage, Kartikeya will use Vivd Gust, which lowers your Accuracy. Your attacks will miss frequently, but once you hit him, Vivid Gust will be cancelled. His physical attacks shouldn't pose as a threat as long as you keep his physical attack down. Just heal when needed, and pound him with your strongest spells and he'll go down for the count. ----------------------------- This is the point of no return. If you have ANYTHING to do before heading to the final dungeon, now's the time to go do it. You won't be able to come back. I'd recommend saving your game in a seperate save slot. That way, if you're not fully prepared, and you saved on the Sun, you can access your other save and prepare yourself properly. When you think you're ready, go talk with Gale and tell him that you're ready. Upon advancing, Jenna will step in the way, and Gale tells you to go to the planes. Watch the scenes. Head down the path and continue following it until you reach the Jet. Examine the front and choose to ride it. Another scene will occur with Cielo flying beside you. Some people will chase behind you, and Cielo will then head back and take out the planes, ensuring your safe escape. You'll then arrive at an empty facility. Enter it to watch some more scenes. Soon, Serph's and Sera's solar data will rush torwards the sun. During this time, Serph forms into Sera's body, combining their powers. You now have Seraph. This is why I told you to make Serph's Mantra path different from Sera's. You'll soon arrive on the sun. ============== THE SUN ============== (010) Upon landing, Argilla, Cielo, Gale, and Roland (or Heat) will join your party once again. Seraph will get a new skill. Before continuing, I'd like to say that Seraph is awesome looking, but her demon looks like a Transformer Reject. Anywho, talk with all the spirits you come across to recieve some items. Use the Large Data Node to save your game. Use the shop near the Core to sell any plants you may have. Make sure to buy some Core Shields if you're running low. Head through the warp points and take the platform near Heat to enter the sun. ============== SUN: 2ND LAYER ============== (011) You'll automatically get into a fight once you land. Head to the left and use a Core Shield on the purple colored sections of the map. Grab the items from the Plants here. Backtrack to the platform and take the right door this time. Continue on and don't go through the damage zone. Once you reach a warp, don't take it. Head down and open the Plant for an item. Head back and take the warp. Once you reach the intersection, go left for another Plant. Head back and go to the right and use a Core Shield and take the left path. Head to the right for a warp. Go left at the intersection to use the healing terminal as well as a Plant. Head to the warp on the right and take it. Go to the left to find a Small Data Node. Save your game. Use a Core Shield if you don't have one activated and head through the damage zones. Head north for an item. Make your way back up to the intersection and take the right path this time. Before continuing on, make sure to equip someone with Fire Drain, as well as Bufudyne and Ice Amp. Make sure someone has Mediarama on too. When ready, advance through for a fight. ----------------------------- O------------------O | ASURA HAYAGRIVA | O------------------O | HP | 3200 | O------------------O -Use Fire Drain every turn and use Bufudyne. Hayagriva will eventually start using Firestorm. Drain Fire will take care of this problem. After you do enough damage, Hayagriva will use Psycho Rage, which gives him 4 flashing turn icons. He'll use Ice Drain with one of them, Firestorm with two more of the turn icons, and then finally attack you. Just use Mediarama to heal, and use any other spell than Agi once he uses Ice Drain to damage him. You should be able to win this fight easily. ----------------------------- ============== SUN: 3RD LAYER ============== (012) Use the platform here and head through the left door. Follow the yellow path and go through the door at the end. Open the Plant here and use the Large Data Node here to save your game. I would highly suggest learning some new Mantras here, such as completeing all of the Boost Mantras, as well as the Ailment Mantras. I also suggest learning Mana Walk, which is one of the secret Mantras (Number 8 I believe) and putting them on your party. Also, head up to the surface and sel loff any Plants you've obtained so far. Once ready, take the warp. Head through the door and you'll be in a spacey area again. The room on the right leads to an optional fight with Jack Frost. You can only fight him if you've answered all 100 of his questions. To continue on, head through the north door. At the intersection, head to the right for a Small Data Node. Take either door and grab the Plant in here and use the warp. You'll eventually reach another spacey area. The lower left side leads to an item, whereas the right side leads to a few more Plants. Head for the upper left side to continue on. Use the healing node when you come across it, and make sure to use the Small Data Node and save your game. Use the next warp now. You'll run into another red door. Before advancing, make sure to equip Ziodyne on all your characters, as well as Force Drain on at least one character. Cielo or anyone else should have Mediarama on. When ready, head on through. ----------------------------- O------------------O | ASURA CAMAZOTZ | O------------------O | HP | 4400 | O------------------O -This fight can be pretty hard if you don't know what to do at all. Start off by casting Ziodyne and using Force Drain every turn. His attacks are nothing to worry about, but eventually, he'll use Rage and turn your characters into Bats, which will lower your stats next to nothing. Camazotz will then go into a guarding pose, which is when everything will do 1 damage, so take this time to cast Force Drain, and heal up. Camazotz will then unleash a Force type attack. With Force Drain, it should be no problem. Hopefully, at least one character will return to normal. Just continue to use Ziodyne and heal and use Force Drain every turn until he falls. ----------------------------- Grab the Plant on the other side of the room, and take the platform. ============== SUN: 4TH LAYER ============== (013) Head to the right for a Plant, and then head through the door. Use the Large Data Node to heal and save up. Ride the platform here and enter the plant here. Continue on. Ride the platforms and enter the plants as you come across them. Soon, once you ride a platform, you'll be given a choice of using either a left or right platform. Ride the right platform and you'll come across several plants. Only some of these contain items, whereas the others will either trigger traps that hurt you, or trigger fights. Either way, get them if you want. Head back out and ride the left platform this time. Keep riding the platforms and you'll eventually get into a fight. Once it's over, keep going. Head north for an item. Head back and take the left platform and go through the next plant. Use the Small Data Node here and go through the door on the right. Ride the platform here and head on through. Go past the door and ride the platform in here. Go through the next door and ride the next platform. Keep going and you'll eventually get into another fight. Take the north path for an item. Hea dback and take the left platform and then ride the next one. You'll get into another fight in here. Keep going and take the next set of platforms. Open the Plant on the 7th floor and ride the platform. Finally. No more platforms. Use the Small Data Node in here to save your game. Head to the left and you'll run into another red door. Before going through, equip your characters with Agidyne and Zandyne. Also equip Earth Drain, as well as Mediarama on someone. When ready, head on through. ----------------------------- O------------------O | ASURA RAHU HEAD | O------------------O | HP | 3500 | O------------------O O------------------O | ASURA RAHU BODY | O------------------O | HP | 3500 | O------------------O -Make sure to use Earth Drain every turn to null out Dragon Quake. After a few turns, the head will use Dragon Thrash, which will trap a character and slowly drain their life away until the character dies, or the body dies. If the head took your character with Earth Drain or Mediarama, you may be in for a rough ride. Just use a barrage of Agidynes on the body while using Earth Drain (if you can) every turn. Once the body goes down, the head can't use Dragon Thrash anymore, so use Zandyne and heal and the head will go down without too much trouble. ----------------------------- Heal up and get the item and ride the platform. ============== SUN: 5TH LAYER ============== (014) Go to the left and use the Large Data Node in here. Save your game and head up to the surface and sell off any Plants you may have. Warp back down and you'll notice a seal. When you go past this seal, you won't be able to use your Atma powers, meaning you'll be in Human form until you get out. Equip Quick Escape on all of your party members and escape from every battle you run into. Go on through the seal and head right at the intersection for a couple of items. Head through the left and head north and go through the right door for an object. Head through the left door now and head through the closest door for another item. Head back out and follow the path and around for another Plant. Go through the other door. Head left for a Plant and head through the left door for another Plant. Head back and take the right door this time. You'll reach the other end of the seal. Get out and head up the warp. Use the Small Data Node in here and head through the door. You'll find some more seals. When you go through one of these, you'll only have two turn icons instead of three. You can fight if you want, or put Quick Escape back on your characters and escape the fights. It's your call. Head through the right seal and open the two Plants in here. Head through the hole and head straight and take the right hole for an item. Take the left hole to continue on. Head to the right and go through the hole here. Head to the left for an item and go through the hole. Go down and head through the hole here. Keep going and take a left when you reach the end. Head through the door and exit the seal and take the warp. Open the Plant in here and use the Small Data Node and save your game. Head through the door and ignore the right door, as it can't be opened yet. Head for the red door. Before going through, if you're using Gale, equip Resist Elec if you have it, or better yet, if you have Null Element, stick it on him. Equip your strongest Almighty spells as well as any Dyne spells you have. Also equip Force Drain and Enervate. Dekaja is also a good add on. When ready, head on through. ----------------------------- O------------------O | ASURA RAVANA | O------------------O | HP | 10500 | O------------------O -Start the battle off by casting Enervate to weaken his Physical attacks. Use Force Drain every turn and start using your Dyne spells on Ravana. Soon, he'll start using Infinite Wind, a strong Force spell. Force Drain will get rid of that threat. Keep using Force Drain every turn and keep unleashing your Dyne spells. After he takes more damage, he'll use Magic Repel. Start using your Almighty based skills here while using Force Drain every turn. If he starts buffing, use Dekaja. Once he's about to die, he'll use Psycho Rage and continue to pelt you with some strong spells. Just keep healed and use Force Drain every turn and use your strongest Almighty spells when he has Magic Repel up and you'll win. ----------------------------- After the fight, heal up and get the item in here and ride the platform. ============== SUN: 6TH LAYER ============== (015) We're getting near the end. Head through the left door and use the warp. Head to the left and use the Large Data Node to save your game. Head right for a Plant. Head to the left now and head up and to the right for a trap object. Head down and left and take the warp here. Use the door behind you for an item. Take the right warp to continue on. Take the next warp and go through the door behind you. Get the items in here and take the left warp this time and grab the item in here. Head south for the next warp. Ignore the door behind you and take the left warp. Grab the item here and take the next warp at the end. Go through the door for a Small Data Node. Save your game and take the left warp. Head left for an item and head to the right. Head right and go past the warp and take the door at the end for a couple of items. Head back to the warp and take it. Go through the door behind you for another Small Data Node. Save your game and take the left warp. Take the next warp when you come across it. Take the door behind you for an item. Use the left warp and use the warp to take you up. Use the healing node here and use the Small Data Node to save your game. Grab the Plant in this area. As you continue to the red door, you may notice two split paths, both with flowers as doors. These lead to optional bosses. Fight them if you want. When ready, head for the red door. Before entering, make sure to equip Phys Drain and Elec Drain on someone or split it between two of your party members. Make sure to equip Dekaja, Dekunda, and if you have it, Null Ailment. If you don't have Null Ailment, equip Null Panic and Null Charm. Also make sure to equip Mediarahan on someone. When you think you're ready, head on through the door. ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA MEGANADA | O------------------O | HP | 9170 | O------------------O -This fight is a huge pain in the ass. Make sure to use Phys Drain every turn for awhile to drain his Physical attacks, which just hurt a lot. Pelt him with your Dyne spells except for Ziodyne, which will only heal him. After you do enough damage, he'll use Black Bhakti to power up, and then use Viraj Blade on his next turn which does well over 200 damage. Heal immediately after this and keep attacking him, using Phys Drain every turn. After you do enough damage, he'll use Moksha and will change into a magic build. When he's in his magic build, he'll gain two more press turns, which can prove to be fatal if you're not careful. No magic will hurt him this time, except Almighty spells, so use those or use any Physical Attacks you have to damage him. When he uses Black Bhakti, make sure to use Elec Drain on your next turn. On Meganada's next turn, he'll use Meru Thunder, a very powerful Zio based spell. After you deal enough damage, he'll switch back to his physical state. He'll then start to randomize his attacks, so make sure to stay healed and just keep attacking him with the appropriate skills until he's gone. ----------------------------- Head back to use the healing node and Small Data Node and save your game. Head back to the platform and ride it up. Head up to the giant flower, but don't enter it yet. The final battle is upon us. Null Expel and Null Death are mandatory for all your party members, so equip them. Equip Fire, Ice, Elec, Earth, and Force Drain between your characters, and make sure to put Mediarahan on someone. Null Ailment also helps greatly in this battle. Put all your Dyne spells between your characters, and some Almighty spells just incase. Dekunda and Dekaja should also be on at least two characters (one with Dekunda, and one with Dekaja) and Debilitate should be on the person without either Dekunda or Dekaja). When you think you're ready, ride the solar data to find God. Seraph will beg for God to stop, but instead of just agreeing, God will want to fight you. Typical. ----------------------------- O------------------O | GOD BRAHMAN ONE | O------------------O | HP | 4000 | O------------------O Best final boss music. Ever. No lie. -Cast Fire Drain every turn here and use any Dyne spell except Agidyne. Use Debilitate to weaken him up a bit. He has an Almighty spell called Light, which can hurt pretty badly, depending on his attack pattern. Heal up if needed, and keep using any Dyne spell except Agidyne. Once you do enough damage, God Brahman will switch. ----------------------------- The second phase begins. ----------------------------- O------------------O | GOD BRAHMAN TWO | O------------------O | HP | 4100 | O------------------O -Use Force Drain every turn here and heal up if you need to. Use any Dyne spell except Zandyne, and use your Almighty spells if someone is only equipped with Zandyne. Use Debilitate again and keep your health up. Once you do enough damage, Brahman will switch again. ----------------------------- The third phase begins. ----------------------------- O-------------------O | GOD BRAHMAN THREE | O-------------------O | HP | 4200 | O-------------------O -Things start to get interesting here. Make sure to use Earth Drain every turn while casting any Dyne spell except Teradyne on him. Heal if he uses Light on you. Brahman has a new attack this time called Eternal Zero. This will increase his stats, while reducing you. If he does this, your next turn should consist of casting Debilitate, Dekunda, and Dekaja to get rid of his stat boosts and your decreased stats. Keep using any Dyne spell except Teradyne to damage him. Once you do enough damage, he'll switch again. ----------------------------- The fourth phase begins. ----------------------------- O------------------O | GOD BRAHMAN FOUR | O------------------O | HP | 6000 | O------------------O -Use Elec Drain every turn while healing whenever you need to. Use any Dyne spell except for Ziodyne and use any Almighty spells if only a character has Ziodyne equipped. Brahman still has Eternal Zero, so if he uses it, your next turn should consist of casting Debilitate, Dekunda, and Dekaja to get rid of his increased stats and your decreased stats. Keep using Elec Drain and any Dyne spell except Ziodyne. Once you do enough damage, he'll switch again. ----------------------------- The fifth, and final phase begins. ----------------------------- O-------------------O | GOD BRAHMAN FINAL | O-------------------O | HP | 6200 | O-------------------O -If you're running low on MP, use any MP healing items on the party. Use Ice Drain every turn here and use any Dyne spell except for Bufudyne. Brahman will still use Eternal Zero, so use your next turn to cast Debilitate, Dekaja, and Dekunda to get your stats, and his stats back to normal. Eventually, he'll use a new attack which increases in power, so make sure to stay healed after every turn, and avoid using Bufudyne and cancel Eternal Zero if he keeps using it. After a long, epic fight, Brahman will be destroyed. ----------------------------- Congratulations! You've beaten Digital Devil Saga 2. Sit back and enjoy the ending. You deserved it. Once the credits finish rolling, you can save your game and load up that file. If you do, you get a choice of either playing the game on normal difficulty, or hard difficulty (unless you uploaded data from DDS1). If you choose to play on normal, you'll retain all your Mantras from your last playthrough, as well as your Karma Rings. If you play on hard, you won't retain any Mantras, and you'll have to start from scratch and face much tougher enemies and bosses. Happy hunting if you decide to play on Hard. I hope you enjoyed the game and I really help that my guide helped you out. =================== 7.) Archangels =================== Once you complete the EGG Installation for the second time, exit the Laboratory Dome and re-enter it. Head back into EGG Installation and talk with the scientist in the upper right corner. Gale will then use his interrogation skills. You'll need to answer the questions correctly in order to unlock the Archangels. For the first set of questions, answer with the following choices: Second, First, Second, First, Third, and Second. For the second set of questions, answer with the following choices: First, Second, Second, Third, and Second. For the third set of questions, answer with the following choices: First, First, and First. Once you do this, talk with the scientist once more. To find the first Archangel, head back to where you fought Abbadon. Equip your strongest single target Bufu spells. Equip Drain Fire on someone as well. Also equip Mediarama on at least one person. When ready, enter where you fought Abbadon to find the first Archangel. ----------------------------- O------------------O | LIGHT URIEL | O------------------O | HP | 3500 | O------------------O -Uriel starts off simple enough. Use Mediarama to heal and pound him with your strongest Bufu spells. Uriel has a few nasty attacks, such as Megido and Skull Cleave, and he has 2 Press Turns, so watch out. After a couple of turns, start using Drain Fire every turn. Once Uriel loses about half of his health, he'll start using Judgment, a strong fire spells. Drain Fire will take care of this problem. From this point on, use Drain Fire every turn and assault him with your strongest Bufu spells and he'll be gone in a matter of minutes. ----------------------------- To find the next Archangel, head to the Internment Facility, where you got the canned meat. Before the fight, equip your characters with the best Zio spells you have. Also equip someone with Mediarama, as well as Drain Force. When ready, head into the fight. ----------------------------- O------------------O | LIGHT RAPHAEL | O------------------O | HP | 3600 | O------------------O -Raphael starts with using his own Zio spells. Use Mediarama and pound him with your best Zio spells. After a few turns, start using Drain Force. After about half of Raphael's health is gone, he'll start using Winged Fury, a powerful Force attack. At this point, use Drain Force every turn as you let loose with a barrage of your strongest Zio spells. He'll fall soon. ----------------------------- To find the next Archangel, head to where you fought the Tribhvana for the first time at the Karma Society Tower. Before the fight, if you have it, equip Void Ailment on someone, or have Null Charm and Null Panic on your characters. Also equip your strongest Zan spells, and have someone with Mediarama, as always. Also make sure to have a decent amount of ailment healing items. When ready, head to where you fought the Tribhvana for the first time for a fight. ----------------------------- O------------------O | LIGHT GABRIEL | O------------------O | HP | 3680 | O------------------O -Gabriel is all about ailment inducing, and she seems to use Tentarafoo and Fatal Charm the most, so if you have Null Panic and Null Charm on your characters, you should be good to go. However, Gabriel can use Neural Shock, Silent Howl, Wicked Curse, and Mamudoon, so stay on your toes. Use your strongest Force spells, and once she loses about half her life, she'll start using her ailment skills in a random order, so make sure to have someone ready to revive or heal. Just keep your health up, and attack with your strongest Zan spells and you'll eventually win. ----------------------------- To find the final Archangel, head back to the Occupied Sector and make your way to the Surface section. Before heading on through, make sure to have your strongest Bufu, Zio, and Zan spells on all of your characters, as well as Drain Fire, Drain Force, and Null Charm and Null Panic, or Void Ailment if you have it. Also equip Sukuna and Sukukaja on at least one person. When ready, head on through to find the fourth and final Archangel. However, to get to him, you'll need to fight your way to him. ----------------------------- After Uriel goes down, Raphael comes next. ----------------------------- After Raphael falls, Gabriel steps in. ----------------------------- And finally, after Gabriel goes down, the final Archangel, Michael, will appear. ----------------------------- O------------------O | LIGHT MICHAEL | O------------------O | HP | 3680 | O------------------O -The battle starts off simple enough. He'll use Dyne spells to weaken you. Make sure to only buff yourself TWICE. If you buff yourself three times, Michael will relentlessly unleash several attacks on you. Use Mediarama to heal yourself and cast Drain Fire every turn. After about half his health is gone, he'll use Explode, which Drain Fire will take care of. He'll also use Vanity from time to time, so get ready with the ailment healing items. Keep your health up. After he has a quarter of his life remaining, he'll unleash brutal attacks, including Omnipotence and Megidolaon. Keep using Mediarama as you pelt him with your strongest spells until he falls. If you need to, use an Impel Stone. Anything to stay alive. Just keep attacking him and heal your ailments and your health until he falls. ----------------------------- After defeating Michael, head to the nearest Karma Terminal and select to download a Mantra. You'll notice a new Mantra, Dragonslayer, for defeating Michael. =================== 8.) Jack Frost =================== Jack Frost starts to appear after you first enter the Internment Facility. Whenever you run into him, he'll ask you a series of questions, and leave if you either get 20 in a row, or if you get one wrong. He appears on The Sun as well. He has a total of 100 questions. Once you answer all 100 of his questions correctly, you'll get a certificate which allows you to fight Jack Frost on the 3rd Layer, second floor of the Sun. It's near the Large Data Node. Before going to fight Jack Frost, equip Agidyne on all your characters, as well as Phys Drain and Spell Gloom on someone. Also equip Null Panic on all of your characters. When ready, head in. ----------------------------- O-------------------O | NETHER JACK FROST | O-------------------O | HP | 6200 | O-------------------O -Jack Frost is a tricky little fellow. Most of the time, Jack Frost will use an attack called Breath, which hits a character multiple times, and freezes that character. Jack Frost will then use Psycho Rage and attack that character until he or she dies. On your first turn, use Agidyne and Spell Gloom to soften up Breath. Make sure to use Phys Drain as well. Jack Frost will use Breath still, but with Phys Drain, you'll absorb the Physical attack and his turn will automatically end. Eventually, Jack Frost will use Tentarafoo, but Null Panic should get rid of that threat. Just keep using Phys Drain and Agidyne every turn and you'll bring him down eventually. ----------------------------- For winning, you get the Pass Ring and Magatama Ammo. Also, if you encounter Jack Frost again after answering all of his questions, or beating him, he'll give you a random item and then scuttle off again. =================== 9.) Bosses =================== ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA VETALA | O------------------O | HP | 470 | O------------------O O------------------O | AERIAL ANDRAS x2 | O------------------O | HP | 200 | O------------------O -Make sure to take out the Andras first, as one will always be casting Void Force. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O--------------------------O | YAKSA HECATONCHEIRES | O--------------------------O | HIT POINTS | 970 | O--------------------------O -This fight is pretty difficult because of one thing; his Hundred Fist attack. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA KUMBHANDA | O------------------O | HP | 1000 | O------------------O -If you have Cielo and Gale in this fight, you shouldn't have too much trouble. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA CU SITH | O------------------O | HP | 900 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA UBELLURIS | O------------------O | HP | 990 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA GANGA | O------------------O | HP | 720 | O------------------O -This fight is going to be a tough one. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA CU SITH | O------------------O | HP | 1100 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA UBELLURIS | O------------------O | HP | 1680 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA GANGA | O------------------O | HP | 990 | O------------------O -This is the same fight as before, but this time, they have a new combo move and have a higher amount of HP. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | ASURA AGNI | O------------------O | HP | 2000 | O------------------O O------------------O | BEAST GDON | O------------------O | HP | 820 | O------------------O -Agni comes with two Gdons. A lot. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA ABADDON | O------------------O | HP | 3200 | O------------------O -This is your first real challenge, and if you haven't been leveling Cielo, or haven't given him any healing Mantras, this battle will be on the verge of impossible. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | DEVICE GATE CORE | O------------------O | HP | 2150 | O------------------O O---------------------O | DEVICE LASER CANNON | O---------------------O | HIT POINTS | 1200 | O---------------------O -This fight is somewhat like the previous ones, only this time, there's a Core on the gate. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA RAJA NAGA | O------------------O | HP | 2500 | O------------------O O------------------O | DRAGON NAGA | O------------------O | HP | 600 | O------------------O -This fight can be a huge pain in the ass. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA VRITRA | O------------------O | HP | 3000 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA TENTACLE | O------------------O | HP | 500 | O------------------O -This battle is going to be a pain if you're underleveled, or don't have any strong magic spells on you. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA REAL VARNA | O------------------O | HP | 1700 | O------------------O O------------------O | YAKSA FAKE VARNA | O------------------O | HP | 1700 | O------------------O -You have Agni for this fight, which makes this battle way too easy. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA CHERNOBOG | O------------------O | HP | 3500 | O------------------O -Chernobog is a unique boss, to say the least. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA KARTIKEYA | O------------------O | HP | 3900 | O------------------O -Once the battle starts, cast your stat boosting spells on you and cast Drain/ Void Elec. His physical attacks should pose as a threat as long as you keep his physical attack down. Just heal when needed, and pound him with your strongest spells and he'll go down for the count. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | ASURA HAYAGRIVA | O------------------O | HP | 3200 | O------------------O -Use Fire Drain every turn and use Bufudyne. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | ASURA CAMAZOTZ | O------------------O | HP | 4400 | O------------------O -This fight can be pretty hard if you don't know what to do at all. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | ASURA RAHU HEAD | O------------------O | HP | 3500 | O------------------O O------------------O | ASURA RAHU BODY | O------------------O | HP | 3500 | O------------------O -Make sure to use Earth Drain every turn to null out Dragon Quake. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | ASURA RAVANA | O------------------O | HP | 10500 | O------------------O -Start the battle off by casting Enervate to weaken his Physical attacks. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | YAKSA MEGANADA | O------------------O | HP | 9170 | O------------------O -This fight is a huge pain in the ass. No magic will hurt him this time, except Almighty spells, so attack him or use any Physical Attacks you have to damage him. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | GOD BRAHMAN ONE | O------------------O | HP | 4000 | O------------------O Best final boss music. Ever. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | GOD BRAHMAN TWO | O------------------O | HP | 4100 | O------------------O -Use Force Drain every turn here and heal up if you need to. Use any Dyne spell except Zandyne, and use your Almighty spells if someone is only equipped with Zandyne. Use Debilitate again and keep your health up. Once you do enough damage, Brahman will switch again. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O-------------------O | GOD BRAHMAN THREE | O-------------------O | HP | 4200 | O-------------------O -Things start to get interesting here. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O------------------O | GOD BRAHMAN FOUR | O------------------O | HP | 6000 | O------------------O -Use Elec Drain every turn while healing whenever you need to. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- O-------------------O | GOD BRAHMAN FINAL | O-------------------O | HP | 6200 | O-------------------O -If you're running low on MP, use any MP healing items on the party. ----------------------------- =================== 10.)
