Recently, another zombie incident has been reported in the Las Vegas area. 12 hours after the reported incident, Motocross racing expert Chuck Greene, along with his little girl Katey, pull up to a gas stop in the town of Still Creek. Chuck and Katey leave their vehicle to survey the surrounding area. While looking around, an individual hijacks their truck and leaves them stranded in Still Creek. Before long the dead inhabitants of Still Creek step out from around the corners. Chuck and his daughter are now trapped in a zombie- infested town! The two quickly run inside the nearby gas station and Chuck barricades the building. The last bit of the Zombrex drug that Katey needs to survive was in their truck and now Chuck must find some more and get himself and his daughter out of the town alive. This guide covers the full game of Case Zero. I have videos for it up on my youtube page also. If you have any questions then feel free to email me or message me over Xbox LIVE. There are three restrooms in Case Zero: 1 - Inside the shed of the Gas Station 2 - Inside the Diner 3 - Inside Uncle Bill's Department Store =========== LEVELING UP =========== Chuck will level up as he gains Prestige Points (PP). As he levels up, he will gain access to new combo cards, new attack moves and his stats (attack power, attack range, etc.) will rise in level as well. NOTE: The quickest way to rise in level is through the boomstick's heavy attack. It yields 2,500 PP per kill, so perform the heavy attack often to get tons of PP in a short time. A player can keep remaking the weapon at a maintenance table. Game progress literally comes second to this move in gaining PP in Case Zero. If you don't have the boomstick weapon combo card yet, save survivors, kill tons of zombies and build the electric rake then poke zombies with it to build PP faster in order to level up. Make sure to use all stoves to heat up pans in order to get a 1,000 PP bonus for heating each one and a 2,500 PP bonus for using them all. ================== MAINTENANCE TABLES ================== There are three maintenance tables found around Still Creek: 1 - Inside the garage of the Gas Station 2 - Behind the Department Store (in a maintenance room) 3 - Along the side of Big Buck Hardware (in a maintenance room) Maintenance Rooms are marked by their red double doors. Each maintenance room contains a maintenance table that Chuck may use to combine items and weapons. Place a weapon on the maintenance table then place another weapon on the table to combine them. Only weapons and items with a green wrench icon may be combined. A player will get the "Combine" action while standing near the maintenance table when an item/weapon can be combined with the current item/weapon on the table. ============= SCRATCH CARDS ============= Chuck will gain a scratch card per weapon combination that he makes without having a combo card prior to combining the two weapons. A scratch card will remain as a scratch card until Chuck gains the combo card for that particular weapon. When only having a scratch card, some attacks cannot be used per combo weapon and Chuck will not gain the full PP amount per attack. =========== COMBO CARDS =========== Chuck will gain a new combo card per level gained. The combo cards display weapons that can be combined to make a new combo weapon. In order for Chuck to use all attacks per weapon and gain the full PP amount per attack, he must gain the combo card for that particular weapon. NOTE: Chuck will gain a random set of combo cards as he levels. The results are random, so you might get new sets of card when you play. A player will always receive the Spiked Bat (build the weapon) and the Boomstick combo card (defeat Jed). All the rest of the weapon cards will remain scratch cards. ===== JUICE ===== Just like in the original Dead Rising, the player can use blenders to mix food items and create different types of juice such as the randomizer or pain killer. The results will vary depending on the food items mixed. Blenders are found throughout Still Creek in certain stores. ====== STOVES ====== A player will find a stove inside some stores in Still Creek. These can be used to heat pans. Set a pan on a stove and wait for it to turn red. Chuck will gain a 1,000 PP bonus for using the stove and the pan will gain an extra attack once Chuck picks it up. Press and hold the X button to make Chuck shove the pan into a zombie's face and fry it. The quick swing of the pan will also take off more damage while it is hot. =================== ESCORTING SURVIVORS =================== Chuck will eventually run into other survivors in Still Creek. He will have to get the survivors to join him then take them back to the Gas Station to save them and gain a PP bonus from helping the survivors. Once a survivor has joined Chuck, he can call to the survivor by pressing the Y button and send the survivor to any direction by holding the LT button and pressing Y. Chuck can also equip a survivor with a weapon by standing close to a survivor and tapping the B button. This will give the survivor the current equipped weapon. Survivors in Case Zero are much more able to look after themselves compared to the original Dead Rising's "dumb as a doorknob" survivor AI, so a player will not have to worry as much about keeping a survivor safe in Case Zero... or worry about having a survivor get stuck behind a sign ad while following the protagonist - oh, how I hate the original Dead Rising's survivor AI! ================ CHUCK'S MOVE SET ================ -- Spit While unarmed, hold the LT button to aim then tap the X button to make Chuck perform a short range spit. The spit can be used to stagger a zombie. If Chuck drinks a Spitfire mixture (mix it at a blender) then he will spit flames and this will make zombies catch on fire while in close range to Chuck. -- Punch Tap the X button while unarmed to make Chuck punch. Keep tapping the button to make him throw right and left punches. -- Push Whenever Chuck runs directly into a zombie, he will stop suddenly as if startled. After doing this, he will push aside zombies that are near him for a short while as he runs through a crowd or by a zombie. -- Backdrop (gained while leveling up Chuck) Immediately escape a zombie grab from behind by shaking the left thumbstick right after being grabbed and Chuck will perform a backdrop on the zombie that grabbed him and crush its head. This move has to be done instantly as if you are expecting the grab almost. -- Jump Kick (gained while leveling up Chuck) Tap the A button to jump into the air then tap the X button to make Chuck unleash a kick in mid-air. This can work well for knocking a zombie straight to the ground. ================ CHUCK'S EXPLOITS ================ -- Invincibility Item Pickup While standing near an item, pick it up as a zombie reaches forward. The zombie grab or attack will pass right through Chuck and Chuck will not take damage. -- Jumping Through Attacks While moving through a crowd, tap the A button to leap as zombies are about to reach out to grab or attack. Chuck will not get knocked down or grabbed while he is in the air. He will still suffer damage from the attack while jumping however. -- Immediately Cure Stomachache through the Gas Station Door While Chuck is having a stomachache from too much alcohol consumption or from drinking a randomizer, enter the Gas Station safe house or exit the safe house and Chuck will be cured of his stomachache after the loading screen. Pull up Chuck's wristwatch by pressing D-pad left when you're unsure of the current time. Katey's next dosage of Zombrex is needed between the hours of 7:00pm and 8:00pm so Chuck will have to find some before then. The time is now 7:00am, so Chuck has around 12 hours to find the Zombrex drug for Katey. ______________ HIDDEN WEAPONS\_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Sniper Rifle - Enter the back storage room in the gas station and climb the ladder then you'll find this on the rooftop. There are two others in the town as well. These tables will allow Chuck to combine weapons and make new powered weapons. Items that can be combined have a green wrench icon over them while standing next to them. Chuck will gain a "scratch card" once a new weapon combination has been performed. .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | Combo Weapons | |=============================================================================| | Baseball Bat + Box of Nails = Spiked Bat | | Propane Tank + Box of Nails = I.E.D. | | Power Drill + Bucket = Drill Bucket | | Whiskey + Newspaper = Molotov | | Pylon + Green/Purple Paint Spray = Air Horn | | Hard Hat + Beer = Beer Hat | | Battery + Leaf Rake = Electric Rake | | Pitchfork + Shotgun = Boomstick | | Paddle + Chainsaw = Paddlesaw | `-----------------------------------------------------------------------------` Go ahead and pick up the Box of Nails and Baseball Bat to the side and place them on the maintenance table. Combine them to make the Spiked Bat. This is one of the simplest and best weapon combination to have with Chuck at all times. Its quick hit and heavy hit will kill any zombie instantly. Tap the X button for quick hits and press and hold the X button for heavy hits. Combo weapons will also grant a PP bonus per kill. For instance, a player will receive more of a bonus per kill from a spiked bat swing kill than from a normal bat swing kill. PP Points are used to gain levels with Chuck. He'll receive stat bonuses and extra moves and combo cards with each level increase. A player can only level up to level 5 in Case Zero. After making the spiked club, open the door in the garage that leads out into the junkyard then move toward the shed off to the left. Be sure to grab at least one bottle of Whiskey to heal Chuck later if needed. There is a restroom in the shed - these are the save rooms for Case Zero. Go ahead and save your game now then open the exit door of the shed. STILL CREEK ----------- A cutscene will play as Chuck steps outside the gas station for the first time. Your main destination is all the way down the road to the left. If Chuck tries to leave the town by moving to the right an extra cutscene will play. Go ahead and pick up the paddle if you want to make another useful combo weapon further down the road. ______________ HIDDEN WEAPONS\_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Paddle - After exiting the gas station, run straight ahead then look off to the left to see this lying next to a reddish building. If you look at the map, you'll be heading east. Stay along either sidewalk along the sides to avoid the majority of the zombies. Zombies are a bit more aggressive than in the last Dead Rising. These zombies all have different AI. Some will stand in place, others will lurch and some will literally chase Chuck no matter where he runs. If any of the zombies grab Chuck, wiggle the left thumbstick to break free from their grasp. Jump through a crowd of two whenever they gather and are about to grab and you might just avoid taking damage. Use the spiked bat to hit any zombies that get in your way otherwise. A light swing is enough to kill and it's much better for multiple zombies when compared to the heavy swing. Watch for the "Big Buck Hardware" sign along the side of the one of the right buildings near the end of the street. Go inside and grab a chainsaw then leave the store and combine the paddle with the chainsaw in the maintenance room connected to Big Buck Hardware to make the paddlesaw. The paddlesaw might help in a moment. You can also move down the alley near the end of the street to the left and find a battery on top of the dumpster at the end. If you look at the map, the alley is behind the Still Creek Movie Theater building. The battery can be combined with a Leaf Rake from Big Buck Hardware to make the Electric Rake. This weapon is not as useful for crowds as the paddlesaw is though. ______________ HIDDEN WEAPONS\_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Battery - The battery is on a dumpster at the end of the alleyway on the left side of the street before getting to the street in front of the quarantine area. You can hop down to the smaller truck in front of the truck that Chuck is on to find a pretty good bit of beer in the back. Chuck needs to move inside the quarantine area with tents to the right up ahead. Stay on top of the vehicles for the most part to avoid the zombie crowds. Chuck will need to move toward the right side, so hop over to those vehicles. Some Pylons are lying near the gates that lead to the tents. If you want to make the air horn weapon, then go ahead and grab a pylon. The pylon can be combined with the purple spray paint bottle back on the roof of the gas station to make the air horn. The air horn is a pretty bad weapon overall though. Enter the area with the tents and move toward the ambulance vehicle that has tumped over. Examine the back doors of the ambulance for a cutscene that will end the current case. The zombie soldiers in the quarantine area might carry assault rifles. Really though, outside of a shotgun and a rifle, firearms are pretty useless for zombies. Melee weapons are much better for zombies overall. Thankfully, Chuck finds a motorcycle that he can repair though. Chuck will start this case with a Utility Cart in front of him. Grab the utility cart by tapping the B button then push it by holding down either X or RT. Push through the zombies near the cars up ahead. Chuck needs to get back to the doors of the gas station shed in order to complete this case. The utility cart is indestructible, so Chuck can plow through a ton of zombies on the way back and rack up kills. If the cart happens to hit something, it might tump over. If it falls over, pick it up and lay it back down then grab the handle again and push it. Push the cart back to the gas station shed doors to trigger a cutscene and end this case. Chuck needs to find all of the motorcycle parts listed above and bring them back to the garage of the gas station. Place the items on the bike in the garage to reassemble it piece by piece. Make another spiked bat at the maintenance table if needed. We've got ourselves a job to do, and we're gonna' see it through. We're gonna' reconstruct ourselves a bike and rescue some people around Still Creek. An I.E.D. would be another good weapon to make for the portion coming up, but the spiked bat should do just fine also. Be sure to grab at least one whiskey bottle from the junkyard and save the game then head outside through the storage shed door once again. A cutscene will play upon stepping through the door. STILL CREEK ----------- From now on, some zombies will have Queen Bee's attached to them. These Queen Bees can be collected after killing the zombie and used as a weapon to defeat several zombies at once. Find a zombie that raises its arms in the air as if in pain. These zombies have Queen Bees attached to the back of their necks. Once a Queen Bee is collected, Chuck will place it in a bottle. This bottle can be tossed at zombie groups in order to kill all zombies in the immediate area. Queen Bees are one of the best weapons to use in order to rack up zombies kills. [ ] Rescue Dick Starting time: after Case 0-3 Ending time: 9:00pm After the cutscene outside, an old man will be on top of the nearby van as zombies surround him below. Move over to the van and kill the zombies surrounding it. Kill them with a spiked bat or I.E.D. If Chuck can find a Queen, that would work well here too. Chuck can toss the I.E.D. toward the van then shoot it to kill most of the zombies on one side or he could use a Queen - there is always a Queen carrier under the awning of the building across from the hunting store. Make sure that no zombie is near the van then climb on top and talk to Dick. Talk to him twice while no zombies are around the van and he will hop off and lead the way to his Pawn Shop. [ ] Find Gasoline Canister While Dick moves toward the Pawn Shop, take this chance to head over to the gas pumps in front of the gas station and pick up the **GASOLINE CANISTER** from off the ground near the left pump. Unlike many of the other bike parts, this part can be stored in the inventory, so just switch back to the spiked bat. Hurry on over toward Dick on the right side of the street and he should move toward his Pawn Shop when Chuck steps near him. Talk to him while he stands in front of his Pawn Shop then speak with him one more time to go inside. Chuck has a few items for sale and one of them really stands out. Ahoho! A motorcycle wheel! The wheel cost $5,000 total. Chuck will likely need to find some money in order to buy it. [ ] Find Wheel Run over to the Casino next door. Step inside the Casino and break the Casino gaming machines inside with any weapon. Shatter them and they will spit out money. Break the ATM machines and the cash register for extra money as well. There is a bit of money lying around on the floor and there is even some outside the Casino (on the ground and in the handbag - toss the handbag to make the money pop out). Run back over to the Pawn Shop and buy the motorcycle **WHEEL**. Keep in mind all the other items that Dick has for sale. Pay special attention to the Zombrex that he has. If you want to do everything in Case Zero, Chuck will need that Zombrex later. Don't worry about buying it now. Wheel x oo [$5,000) Spiked Bat x oo [$2,500] Moosehead x oo [$500] Zombrex x oo [$25,000] Handgun x oo [$500] Electric Rake [$5,000] Drill Bucket [$2,500] Assault Rifle [$1,000] The Moosehead is one of his best items in the Pawn Shop and one item that Chuck might want to pick up while passing by the Pawn Shop every now and then. Chuck can move faster while using its dash attack, allowing him to move up and down the streets much faster than normal. The Moosehead is also really good for killing zombie crowds quickly. If you're going for 1,000 kills in a game, you'll want to use this. Take the wheel and the gas canister back to the Gas Station. If a zombie gets in Chuck's way then hit it upside the head with the wheel. Place the wheel and gas canister on the motorcycle in the garage then save your game and travel back out into the street. [ ] Find the Shed Key There is a locked shed all the way to the far east slightly past Big Buck Hardware. The shed key is inside the hotel on the left side of the street up ahead, but it's on the top floor and the only way to get to the top floor is to get on top of the stairway in the back of the building and move up to the top floor from there. The stairway is broken though. Find the man (Bob) on top of the building up ahead. The building is across the street from the gas station and just before reaching the casino. Move around the left side of the building and climb on top of the green dumpster on that side. Hop over to the air condition unit then hop onto the side of the rooftop. Climb up toward Bob and speak with him. He is searching for his daughter at the moment but we can't help him right now. Return to Bob at 7:00pm to actually help him. Pick up one of his beer bottles if you have the inventory space for it in order to combine it with another item in a few minutes. Climb on top of the roof portion with the circular fan cylinders then move over to the left side of the back portion of the roof. Hop over to the platform in front of the railing of the stairway of the hotel building across from Chuck. Hop over the railing then move through the doorway. HOTEL ----- Chuck is now inside the top floor of the hotel. Fight off the three zombies in the hall then move down the left corridor with the boarded stairway and turn right. Enter the room at the end of the hall then kill the zombie inside and grab the **SHED KEY** from off the floor. Leave the room and look along the right side of the corridor outside. See the three windows? Look up really high! Jump to one of them and grab onto the side and Chuck will pull himself up to it. Move to the left and hop down to the lower section of the roof. Cross the steel bridge platform then climb up to the raised portion of the roof off to the right. Find the Hardhat weapon on the right side of the roof and pick it up. This is the only hardhat in the entire game. Keep it and combine it with beer later at a maintenance table for the Beer Hat. Once Chuck makes the Beer Hat, he won't need to worry with picking up whiskey and other health items. ______________ HIDDEN WEAPONS\_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Hardhat - This is lying on top of the rooftop behind the hunting store. Get on top of the rooftop where Bob is and it's on the rooftop to the left of the stairway in the back of the nearby hotel. This can be combined with a beer to make the Beer Hat. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Find the Propane Tank on the rooftop and drop to the building roof past it. Move further ahead then hop up to the next roof past the football. Chuck is now on top of the Hunting Store. Drop through the trapdoor off to the left to enter the hunting store. BOB'S FISH 'N HUNT ------------------ There is a real good variety of weapons in the hunting store. There are two shotguns in the glass cases near the register that will come in handy. They can be combined with a pitchfork to make the boomstick. Chuck will need to grab a Broadsword from this store later to help some survivors... but this comes much later. ______________ HIDDEN WEAPONS\_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Moosehead - This is lying on a mantle along the back wall on the left side of the hunting store. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The Moosehead on the back wall can come in handy for zombie groups outside. Go ahead and grab the Moosehead if you have the extra inventory space. Unlock the front door to the hunting store (Locked door 1/4). Chuck can quickly combine the hardhat and the beer in the maintenance room behind Uncle Bill's Department Store off to the right to free up inventory space if you have both items right now. Enter the Dirty Drink bar across the street. THE DIRTY DRINK --------------- [ ] Rescue Survivors: Gemini and Fausto (appear after Dick is safe in his Pawn Shop) Starting time: after entering Dick's Pawn Shop Ending time: 4:00pm .----------------------------------. | PP Earned | |==================================| | SURVIVOR | JOIN ESCORT | |----------------------------------| | Gemini | 1,000 3,000 | | Fausto | 1,000 3,000 | '----------------------------------' Extra: $15,000 Gemini and Fausto are inside. Speak with Gemini until she joins Chuck. Fausto will take a bit more persuasion to join however. Speak with him and he will ask for some booze. Pick up the nearby beer and give it to him. Fausto will want more to drink after the first drink. Pick up another beer or whiskey and give it to him. Fausto will eventually throw up. He is now shitface enough to follow Chuck. Talk to him again and he will join. Open the door to the bar and lead both survivors back to the shed door of the Gas Station. Unlike the original Dead Rising, survivors will look after themselves quite a bit in Case Zero, so Chuck can actually run ahead of them and not worry much about their safety, whether they have a weapon or not. Besides the usual PP bonus for saving survivors, Chuck will gain an extra $15,000 in casino earnings from the couple. [ ] Find Gems for Gemini After leaving the Gas Station once Fausto and Gemini have been saved, Gemini will stand out in the junkyard - she can be seen through the gate. Run back inside and approach her then speak with her. She will ask Chuck to find her precious gems that Fausto gave to her. She will give over the rest of her casino earnings for the gems. The gems are located in the Quarantine Area. Find the row of cars along the left side of the street just before the gates and look for the yellow car with the open door on the passenger's side. The gems will be lying on the ground beside the open passenger door. They can be used as a weapon against zombies. Don't toss them all though. Be sure to save some to give back to Gemini! Once the gems are given to Gemini, she will hand over $15,000 and Chuck will gain a 2,000 PP fulfillment bonus. This will help out greatly for buying Zombrex later. To save time, it is best to perform this case while helping Tia, Nikki and Sharon. Pick up the gems on the way to Sharon and carry them in Chuck's inventory. NOTE: You do NOT have to talk to Gemini for the gems to appear in the Quarantine Area. They will be there after saving Fausto and Gemini. STILL CREEK ----------- Save your game at the save point inside the Gas Station then go back out onto the street. Now would be a good time to unlock the Sheriff's Office. Run over to the Pawn Shop then move just a little ways past the Pawn Shop on the same side. Hop onto the green dumpster then hop over the blockade to the right. Follow the path behind the Pawn Shop to reach the back door of the Sheriff's Office. ______________ HIDDEN WEAPONS\_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Green Spray Paint - The green spray paint is near the beer and folding chair on the ground along the path to the back door of the Sherrif's Office. A few zombies are lurking throughout the office. The only major weapon that Chuck might want to grab is the shotgun on the desk of the upstairs office. Unlock the front door to the station (Locked Door 2/4) and head back out into the streets. [ ] Find the Bike Forks The Bike Forks are inside of the shed that Chuck recently got the key for. Run down the street to the east and run past Big Buck Hardware then look to the right to see the shed. Unlock the shed with the key (Locked Door 3/4) and grab the **BIKE FORKS** from inside. Unfortunately, they can't fit in the inventory, so Chuck will have to carry them all the way back in one go without any other stops along the way. Get back to the Gas Station and place the Bike Forks on the motorcycle. [ ] Find the Engine Run down the street to the east then make a left at the second intersection. Find the Still Creek Theater at the end of that street - it will be off to the right. Enter the theater and break the gambling games off to the sides for some extra cash. Enter the theater room through the left set of doors and Chuck will not have to fight as many zombies inside since they all group on the right side. Run to the back door in the theater room then unlock it (Locked Door 4/4). Grab the **ENGINE** on the ground outside then move down the left alleyway. Chuck will move out onto the streets of Still Creek once again. Make a right and head back to the Gas Station then place the engine on the motorcycle. [ ] Survivors: Nikki, Tia and Sharon Starting time: 1:00pm Ending time: 7:00pm .----------------------------------. | PP Earned | |==================================| | SURVIVOR | JOIN ESCORT | |----------------------------------| | Sharon | 1,500 3,500 | | Tia | 1,000 3,000 | | Nikki | 1,000 3,000 | '----------------------------------' It should be about 1:00pm by now. If it isn't then enter and exit the Gas Station after 1:00pm to make the next set of survivors appear. Follow the street to the east and find the Grumpy Dog Bowling Alley just a little ways past the Pawn Shop on the right side of the street. Enter the bowling alley and talk with Tia. Nikki will not talk that much. Their friend Sharon is missing and they will not leave the bowling alley until they find her. Tia will mention that she might be in the quarantine area. Leave the bowling alley and run toward the quarantine area at the far east end of the street. QUARANTINE AREA --------------- NOTE: Make sure to talk with Tia up until the point that she refuses to leave or else Sharon will not appear in the tent in the quarantine area. Enter the area with the tents and step inside the furthest left tent among the right row of tents. Sharon is inside. Talk with her and she will eventually mention that she needs some Zombrex. Talk with her again after her request and Chuck will hand over his Zombrex to Sharon. You'll need to buy the Zombrex from the Pawn Shop to give to Katey after doing so. Sharon will join after Chuck gives her the Zombrex. Move toward Sharon for a "carry" command. Pick up Sharon and take her out of the Quarantine Zone. Chuck is nearly invincible while carrying Sharon as long as you stay moving. Zombies will stagger if he runs by them while carrying Sharon. Chuck will really only get hit if he stops. Run back to the bowling alley while carrying Sharon and talk with Tia and Nikki. They will join immediately after seeing Sharon is safe. Carry Sharon back to the Gas Station and Nikki and Tia will follow. [ ] Survivors: Archie and Jason Starting time: 3:00pm Ending time: 9:00pm .----------------------------------. | PP Earned | |==================================| | SURVIVOR | JOIN ESCORT | |----------------------------------| | Archie | 1,500 3,500 | | Jason | 1,500 3,500 | '----------------------------------' Run over to the hunting store (Bob's Fish 'n Hunt) and grab a Broadsword from inside and take it with you. Head to Uncle Bill's Department store to the right of The Dirty Drink bar. Enter the store then open the back door. Archie and Jason will be fighting off zombies in the parking lot behind the store. Jason will notice Chuck as the "motocross racing star Chuck Greene" as Chuck approaches the two. Talk to Jason and Chuck will ask for the handle bars in his hand. Jason will not hand over the handle bars unless Chuck gives him a broadsword. Equip a broadsword and give it to Jason and he will give Chuck the **HANDLE BARS**. Archie and Jason will both join Chuck afterwards. Lead them back to the Gas Station like all the other survivors. The handle bars can be carried in Chuck's inventory much like the gasoline canister. After placing the handle bars on the motorcycle, Chuck should now have all five pieces of the bike assembled. A cutscene will activate if the handle bars are the last piece. STILL CREEK ----------- [ ] Find some more Zombrex All a player has to do now is buy some Zombrex from the Pawn Shop. The Zombrex costs $25,000, so enter the casino and break the games inside to get some money. Enter and exit the gas station if needed to make the games respawn. The Diner and the Still Creek Theater all have breakable gambling games inside them also. Buy the Zombrex from the Pawn Shop and Chuck will be all set to give Katey her dosage between 7:00pm and 8:00pm. There is really not much else to do in Still Creek until 7:00pm now. If you want to gain some easy levels through PP bonuses then pick up a pitchfork (The Dirty Drink bar or Big Buck Hardware Store) and combine it with a shotgun (sheriff's office or hunting store) and combine the two to make the boomstick. Constantly kill zombies with the strong attack from the boomstick to gain 2,500 PP points per kill. Keep remaking another boomstick when the current one breaks. Enter and exit the Gas Station to make the shotguns respawn. STILL CREEK ----------- Case: Above the Law [ ] Survivors: Bob and Darcie Starting time: 7:00pm Ending time: 8:35pm .----------------------------------. | PP Earned | |==================================| | SURVIVOR | JOIN ESCORT | |----------------------------------| | Bob | 2,000 3,500 | | Darcie | 2,000 3,500 | '----------------------------------' NOTE: Bob and Darcie can be saved after giving Katey Zombrex. A player will have more time to perform this task then. You will save more time overall by completing the mission right at 7:00pm however. Once the clock strikes 7:00pm a cutscene will play to confirm the time. You need to be fast to do this next rescue since Chuck needs to get back to the Gas Station to give Katey some Zombrex shortly after the rescue mission can be performed. Climb back up to the roof that Bob is on and speak with him. He will mention that he saw his daughter run into the hunting store below. Drop off the roof then enter the hunting store. Speak with Darcie. Chuck will ask her to leave but Darcie will refuse to leave with a stranger without her father's permission. Keep talking with her until she refuses to leave. Exit the hunting store then climb back up to Bob on the rooftop. Speak with him twice - he's proud of his girl for not leaving with a stranger. Bob will join Chuck eventually. Fall back down the rooftop and enter the hunting store again. NOTE: While the two reunite, bust open one of the glass cases in the back of the store and grab at least one of the shotguns. You will need this for an upcoming fight. Chuck can also make use of two assault rifles for the upcoming fight as well. Darcie will join Chuck after she reunites with her father. Quickly escort both of them back to the gas station shed. ___________________________________ ZOMBREX ____________________________ [CS01] [CS0-5] _____ _____ ___________________________________________________________________ /__ / Starting Time: 7:00pm - Ending Time: 8:00pm ----- / / ------------------------------------------------------------------ ____ / /__ _______________ September 17 /____/ O M B R E X 1 \___________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GAS STATION ----------- The time should be close to 8:00pm by now. Quickly save your game at the restroom then run into the gas station garage and move over to Katey then give her the Zombrex (you'll have to buy the Zombrex at the pawn shop if Chuck doesn't have any). A cutscene will play after giving Katey the Zombrex. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Psychopath: Jed Attacks: Shotgun Blast (long range) Stab and Blast (short range - grab) Push and Flame Blast (short range - grab) Pitchfork Poke (short range) Case: The Mechanic Chuck will have to fight Jed after the cutscene. Jed will start out at a distance and likely fire his shotgun at Chuck. Jed comes equipped with a boombstick (pitchfork + shotgun combination). He also has a gas tank on his back, which he uses to power his torch. Jed will often fire his shotgun from a distance, so be prepared to run at him in a zigzag pattern to avoid his shots or get behind a stack of cars to avoid the shotgun blast. He will eventually charge Chuck and try to poke him with the pitchfork. Jed will either try to hit Chuck with his pitchfork or try to perform one of two grabs. He will either stab Chuck and hold him up in the air with the pitchfork shortly before shooting him with the shotgun or he will stun Chuck then blast his face with fire from his torch. Jed is not much of a problem at all if Chuck brought a shotgun to this battle. Wait for Jed to run toward you then aim and back up the whole time he runs and fire at him. Chuck can also use the assault rifle. Jed will try to poke chuck with the pitchfork, but he should miss if you keep backing up. The only hard part about doing this is accidentally backing into a wall. You need to make sure that Chuck is not moving toward a wall or Chuck will get stabbed. Jed can also be led toward propane tanks in the junkyard. Once he stands near one, shoot the propane tank with a firearm and he will take damage from the explosion. This can be helpful if he is right next to the propane tank. Acetylene tanks can be shot as well to make him damage from their explosions, but their resulting explosion is usually unpredictable. If Jed hits Chuck with a shotgun blast, Jed will always taunt afterwards leaving him open to an attack. NOTE: If Chuck hides from Jed by stepping behind a car, Jed will eventually move to one of the corners and call out to Katey. He leaves himself vulnerable while he does this. Psychopath Bonus = 10,000 PP = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Once Jed is defeated, he will leave behind his boomstick weapon. Take the boomstick and go blast some zombies outside. This is an easy way to level up your character and gain quick PP points. Use the heavy attack to stab and lift zombies into the air and kill them off for 2,500 PP points per kill. The boomstick will respawn where Jed dropped it each time that Chuck exits then reenters the gas station junkyard. Chuck must move toward the motorcycle in the garage and examine it in order to leave the area before 9:00pm or a player will get the worst ending for the game. So long as you leave before 9:00pm, you can stand out in the street and kill zombies with the boomstick or mutilate them in whatever way you want. Be sure to save your game before leaving! ESCAPING STILL CREEK -------------------- Case: Escape Still Creek Chuck will be on his bike with Katey after the cutscene. Chuck needs to drive to the road that was blocked off at the quarantine area to get out of Still Creek. A total of 1 minute and 30 seconds is given to the player to escape Still Creek. .-----------------. | Bike Controls | |-----------------| | Accelerate - RT | | Reverse - LT | | Horn - Y | `-----------------` Try to hit as many soldiers with the bike as you can while leaving Still Creek. They are worth 1,000 PP per hit. The solders are dressed in white and they will usually fire at Chuck when he drives up to them. You can actually slow the bike down and run over them with little acceleration. Be careful about slowing down too much though. Chuck takes damage quickly from machine gun blasts. The soldiers will also toss grenades at Chuck. It's best not to slow down that much if you do. Don't ever turn around to go back for a soldier that often. Here are the directions out of town from the starting: Left at intersection Right Right at intersection Left at intersection Right (to get on the dirt road) Chuck will have to fall down a few dropoffs while moving ahead. There is an extra ledge along the left side of the dirt road that Chuck can drive up on and drop off the side of. He will be able to hit a few soldiers before the dropoff. Follow the dirt road and eventually Chuck will drive back onto the main road. Turn left and drive into the tunnel for a cutscene that will end this case and the full game of Case Zero. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- 2x4 Main Attack (X) - Overhead Strike Durability: 15 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: -- The 2x4 is a simple piece of wood about the size of a baseball bat. Chuck has both the same light and heavy attack while using it. It will last up to 15 hits without the building magazine to support it. It's basically a single hit type of weapon. Chuck can only usually hit the zombie directly in front of him with its overhead attack, but sometimes he can clobber a few more with one swing. The weapon will sometimes kill a zombie in one hit but not always - it has about a 50% chance of killing. The weapon takes about the same amount of damage when thrown at a zombie as it does when Chuck hits a zombie with its main attack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Acetylene Tank Main Attack (X) - Tank Strike Durability: 25 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: -- The Acetylene Tank is a green canister filled with flammable gas. Any type of gunfire will cause the tank to release gas from the top portion. While the gas burns from the gunshot, the tank will move on the ground and eventually explode. The direction it will move is basically unpredictable so this weapon's explosion only really comes in handy based on chance. Chuck can pick up the tank and hit a zombie with the butt end of the tank. The tank will make a satisfying clanging noise upon impact. The tank is about as powerful as a 2x4 hit. It's not going to kill a zombie with each strike, but it will sometimes. The tank is a decent weapon when thrown at a group of zombies. The impact of the tank when thrown will sometimes kill a zombie while in the air and while rolling. The tank will roll a few feet before stopping and it will knock down any zombie that it rolls into. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Acoustic Guitar Main Attack (X) - Three Hit Guitar Strike Combo Alternate Attack (hold X) - Guitar Smash Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This is a wooden guitar used for playing country tunes at the local bar. Chuck will perform a three hit side swing combo for the guitar's main attack. Each swing will kill a zombie within two hits no matter the swing. Chuck winds up more for the last swing, but it's still not anymore damaging than the other two. For the alternate attack, Chuck will club a zombie over the head with the guitar and the zombie will have the guitar stuck around its head. This might be funny but it also weakens the durability of the weapon by 10 hits. The guitar will normally break in the middle after a few hits, but smashing it over a zombie's head will damage it faster. When the guitar is thrown, it deals the same amount of damage as a normal hit from its main attack. This guitar is not near as fun to use as the bass and electric guitar from Dead Rising 1. It has no satisfying sound effect while hitting a zombie... and I like to rock when I pulverize a zombie with a novelty weapon! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Ad Board Main Attack (X) - Overhead Hit & Side Hit Combo Durability: About 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- "Hungry? ...then eat something!" Chuck shouts shortly before clobbering a zombie over the head with this ad board from the local diner. Chuck will perform a two-hit combination swing while the X button is tapped when holding the Ad Board. He will perform an overhead hit followed by a strike to his left side. Both hits have the potential to kill a zombie but usually it will take two hits to kill one. Both swings are wide, so this weapon can be used for a group of zombies rather easily, though it's not going to kill any of them fast. The Ad Board will immediately break after being tossed. The toss impact does about the same amount of damage as a normal swing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Baseball Bat Main Attack (X) - Bat Swing Alternate Attack (hold X) - Homerun Hit Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: Box of Nails (Spiked Bat) Even though its basic attack will not usually kill a zombie instantly, the baseball bat is still a very solid weapon to use. It will usually take two hits to kill a zombie with a normal bat swing. The Homerun Hit alternate attack will kill any zombie that is hit with it. It will give Chuck 25 PP per swing. The baseball bat is just as durable as many of the other two-handed weapons. The baseball bat is decent for crowds just like other two-handed weapons. The homerun swing is so wide that it's really good at opening up a crowd of zombies in order to get through them. The bat is best combined with a box of nails for a spiked bat, but it's also useful as just a standard bat as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Battery Main Attack (X) - Two Hit Battery Swing Alternate Attack (hold X) - Battery Ram Durability: About 25 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: Leaf Rake (Electric Rake) This weapon is a large heavy duty battery used to power equipment. Chuck will perform a two hit swing if the X button is tapped and will ram forward with the battery in front of him while a player holds the X button. The battery is a decent overall weapon with its two attacks, but neither of them are really that powerful. The battery is best combined with the leaf rake to make an electric rake overall. It will usually take two hits to defeat a single zombie with a battery. The battery ram seems to have the odds of killing a zombie with a single hit. The ram also has a very satisfying animation. It's hilarious to watch Chuck run forward with a battery held in front of him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Bench Main Attack (X) - Bench Ram Durability: About 15 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- It was hilarious when Frank West used it and it's still just as amusing to watch Chuck Greene pick up a wooden bench and ram a zombie with the other end of it. This weapon is still just as good as it could be in the original Dead Rising. It's a near perfect weapon for crowds. Both its main attack and simply tossing the bench will both knock down several zombies at once. This weapon is quite damaging as well. It will often kill a zombie with a single hit after ramming a zombie or tossing the bench at them. It last up to about 15 hits so it's pretty durable. The bench is more of a weapon to use for quick kills on a group while moving along the streets rather than carrying it around as your main weapon. It will leave behind a 2x4 after it breaks. The main flaw with the bench is the recovery time that Chuck will have to endure after a bench ram. The ram is still a good attack to use but keep this flaw in mind and angle the ram so that Chuck is not stuck in place with a zombie near him as he recovers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Bowie Knife Main Attack (X) - Two Knife Slashes Alternate Attack (hold X) - Knife Stab Durability: About 35 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The bowie knife is a large blade used for hunting. Chuck will perform a downward slash followed by an upward slash for the main attack if the X button is tapped a few times. This combination of slashes can be repeated very quickly. The slashes will kill just about any zombie within two hits. Chuck can stab a zombie by holding the X button. He will stab the zombie in the stomach then grab the zombie and pull the blade out of its gut. This will kill the zombie instantly. The knife can also be thrown and the blade will stick inside of the zombie wherever it hits on the zombie's body. The zombie might walk around and bleed as the blade sticks in them before they die. The bowie knife is a really good weapon to have with Chuck mainly thanks to its high durability. It can withstand as many hits as the sledge hammer weapon. It's short range, but it's very quick with both of its attacks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Bowling Ball Main Attack (X) - Bowling Ball Strike Durability: About 15 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- Have you ever been smacked in the head with a bowling ball? No? Me neither, but I'm sure it would hurt like hell. In the original Dead Rising, the bowling ball was a pretty good weapon to use and it still remains that way in Dead Rising 2. Chuck will swing forward with the ball and hit a zombie in the head with it. The hit will kill a zombie with one hit and will sometimes crush their head. Chuck can also roll the bowling ball toward a group of zombie as if he is aiming for a strike. Hold the LT button to aim then hold down the X button to make Chuck wind his arm. Let go while aiming at a group of zombies and see how many you can knock down while they group - each zombie that is hit will be worth 10 PP. The bowling ball is actually a good weapon to carry around. It's single kill only but it will kill any zombie that Chuck strikes with it. The main flaw is that it will only last for about 15 hits before breaking. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Bowling Pin Main Attack (X) - Bowling Pin Strike Durability: About 15 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The bowling pin is a plastic white piece used in the game of bowling. Chuck can hit a zombie with the side of the pin while holding one. The bowling pin is a decent weapon with a decent durability. Its main attack will sometimes stagger a zombie to the side and sometimes knock them straight down. It will take about 2-3 hits to kill a zombie with the bowling pin. The bowling pin takes off the same damage as a normal hit when thrown. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Box of Nails Main Attack (X) - Nail Toss Durability: 20 nail tosses Book Support: -- Combines with: Baseball Bat (Spiked Bat) A box of nails is usually used to hold together pieces of wood in order to build something. The nails are hammered into the wood pieces. In Dead Rising 2, Chuck has no hammer, but he can still toss the nails at zombie crowds in order to make a total mockery out of their slow speed by killing them with only a mildly harmful shower of metal pieces while they walk slowly toward him. It will usually take around 4 to 5 nail tosses to kill the standard zombie. The results will vary depending on how many nails hit a single zombie. A box of nails is the most useful of the objects that can be tossed in groups, but it's still not really a good distant weapon overall. The box of nails is really just as much of a waste of time as tossing playing cards with how slowly they kill... but at least I find more amusement in tossing playing cards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Brick Main Attack (X) - Head Bash Alternate Attack (hold X) - Brick Toss Durability: About 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The brick is a useful weapon with a catch - it will either kill a zombie instantly with a head crush or it will take two hits to kill a zombie. The brick will break within 10 hits. The brick is a decent weapon to pick up for single kills, but it's not dependable as an instant kill weapon. It's much like a watered down bowling ball weapon that doesn't last as long. Chuck will toss the brick at a zombie if the X button is held down. This is a charged toss but its basically equal to the same type of toss that you'll get if you hold the LT button and throw the brick. The toss can shatter a zombie's head just like a normal hit, but it really doesn't matter if it does or not since a brick toss is usually an instant kill anyway. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Broadsword Main Attack (X) - Three Hit Slash Combo Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Slash Durability: About 35 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The broadsword is a standard sword made of steel. This weapon has some decent range and a really good durability. For its main attack, Chuck will perform two upward slashes followed by a side slash. The two upward slashes basically only hit whatever is directly in front of him but the side slash has a wider attack range for hitting a group. Each slash will kill no matter which slash hits a zombie. The slashes will slice it into two pieces depending on how the blade hits. Chuck will perform an overhead slash for the weapon's alternate attack. This slash will cut a zombie right down the middle and kill them instantly. Chuck can toss the weapon at a zombie and impale the zombie with the weapon. He can also jump and attack with the weapon. This is the only weapon in Case Zero that has a jump attack. The jump attack is basically the same as the overhead attack but Chuck will have greater range. All hits with the broadsword will instantly kill a zombie no matter the attack. The broadsword is a very good weapon to carry around with Chuck. It's an instant kill weapon and it has a very high durability. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Bucket Main Attack (X) - Bucket Head Durability: 10 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: Power Drill (Drill Bucket) The bucket is a metal bucket used for carrying water or other liquids. Chuck can place it over a zombie's head by approaching the zombie and performing the bucket's main attack. The zombie will be completely harmless as it walks around with a bucket over its head. The only way to hit a zombie with a bucket is to toss it at one. The toss will barely even stagger a zombie though. The bucket is mainly used for laughs overall, much like the Servebot mask. A bucket is slightly more humorous than a tire, but it still doesn't come close to the extreme happiness found on a Servebot mask! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Cactus Plant Main Attack (X) - Cactus Swing Durability: About 2 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The Cactus Plant weapon is a large potted cactus. This weapon is best thrown for sure. It breaks in two swings while hitting a zombie otherwise. It will break right after throwing it as well. Two swing hits or a toss will usually kill most zombies. A single toss can knock down several zombies in a row depending on how it hits. This is more of a last resort weapon or just a fun weapon to pick up and smack zombies with. Overall, I don't find this weapon as humorous as other weapons though. I'd much rather pick up a nearby mailbox or newspaper box and hit a zombie over the head with it really - might be just me though... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Cardboard Box Main Attack (X) - Box Swing Durability: About 5 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The cardboard box is not really a weapon that Chuck will want to attack zombies with since it's very weak and doesn't last that long at all. This weapon's main value is its contents. It will contain a random item once it breaks. It can be instantly broken open by tossing it or leaping on top of it. If Chuck doesn't have a current weapon, you can always toss one of these if it's in the area and possibly get a useful weapon from inside. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Cardboard Cutout Main Attack (X) - Cardboard Swing Durability: About 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- Protoman has his own movie now! No longer is he just a downloadable add-on in Mega Man 9! And Chuck can celebrate this new achievement by slapping a zombie upside the head with a cardboard cutout of Mega Man's brother. The cardboard cutout breaks extremely quickly and the hits are not that powerful at all. It will take about four swings to kill a zombie with the cardboard cutout. It has some good range, but with it breaking so quickly, Chuck can't afford to hit too many zombies at a time with it. The cardboard cutout is best used for fun, just to say that my Chuck beat a zombie to death with a cardboard cutout of Protoman! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Cash Register Main Attack (X) - Three hit Register Swing Durability: About 25 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- "Your total comes to $1.50, sir!" Chuck says before he clobbers a zombie with the diner register. "...and keep the change!" The cash register is a returning weapon from the original Dead Rising and comes with a slightly new combination attack. Chuck can perform two side swings and end the combination with a register ram. The two side hits are not that powerful, but the register ram at the end will kill many zombies with one hit. The register has a bit of money inside. That money might pop out of the register during a swing, or it will fall out after the weapon is destroyed. Chuck can toss the register at any time to destroy it in order to get the money inside of it. The register is a decent fighting weapon, but you won't want to tote this into battle much since it is rather slow and can't be put in Chuck's inventory. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Casino Chips Main Attack (X) - Chip Toss Durability: 30 chip tosses Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The casino chips come in a set of 30 chips with a variety of green, red, orange, pink and purple chips used for gambling. Chuck can pick up these sets and shower zombies with several chips. The chips can be aimed by holding the LT button before pressing the X button. It takes a little over 10 chip tosses to kill a zombie, but think about it... you just murdered a zombie with casino chips! I bet you feel special. Now it's time to grab some playing cards and toss them over the zombie's dead body! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Chainsaw Main Attack (X) - Two hit Chainsaw Swing Alternate Attack (hold X) - Chainsaw Spin Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: Paddle (Paddlesaw) The chainsaw is a standard chainsaw used for cutting wood. A player will have to start the chainsaw by tapping the X button. Once the chainsaw is on, the blade by itself will stagger any zombie that it touches. Chuck can simply walk against a zombie and stagger it with the chainsaw's blade while it is on. Chuck will swing forward twice if the X button is tapped. The chainsaw swing combination can be done continuously and each hit is a kill against any zombie. While holding the X button, Chuck will perform a 360 swing while holding out the chainsaw. The swing will kill any zombie that is in close range to him. The swing has a very slow recovery and start-up animation. Both of them mixed can be the worst part about using this in crowds since zombies will tend to pile up after the first swing since the chainsaw doesn't reach that far. The chainsaw is a very good weapon by itself, but its much more useful when combined with the paddle for the paddlesaw. The paddlesaw's range is much greater and its recovery time isn't that big of an issue while using it because of its range. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Chef Knife Main Attack (X) - Knife Slice & Knife Slice Combo Alternate Attack (hold X) - Psycho Stab Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The Chef Knife is a knife for cutting meat, or in Chuck's case, some of that rotting flesh outside the Diner window. This knife is one of the better weapons that Chuck can pick up in Still Creek and it has one hilarious heavy attack! Chuck will stab a zombie then grab it and stab it three more times while music similar to the Psycho bathroom murder scene will play. This move will give a 20 PP bonus and it will kill any zombie that Chuck stabs. Its light attack is rather powerful as well. One simple slash will usually not kill a zombie, but the slashes will not knock it down either, so Chuck can simply slash forward two times and kill most zombies. He slashes rapidly with the knife also - literally one set of slashes after another. The knife can be thrown to impale a zombie with the blade - the zombie will die eventually as the blade falls off of them. While Chuck embraces his feminine side with the waitress outfit and ladies hat, he might just hear mother calling while using this weapon. I mean... Chuck wouldn't harm a fly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Construction Hat Main Attack (X) - Hardhat Strike Durability: About 5 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: Beer (Beer Hat) The construction hat is a hardhat that workers use while working on some sort of construction job. Chuck will hit a zombie with the top portion of the hardhat for its main attack. It can also be thrown at a zombie like all other weapons. This weapon is very weak and it takes nearly 4 hits to kill a zombie with it. It's best saved and combined with beer to make the beer hat. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Cooking Oil Main Attack (X) - Bottle Strike Durability: About 6 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This is a plastic bottle full of cooking oil. It's going to be hard to kill a zombie with a cooking oil bottle - it will take multiple bottles in order to do so since they break after about 6 hits. The cooking oil cannot be eaten, but it can be used at a blender to mix with other foods. The bottle will leave behind a puddle of cooking oil once it breaks or once Chuck tosses it at the ground. Zombies will trip on the oil puddle if they walk over it. Overall, the cooking oil is just as useless as it was in the original Dead Rising for attacking zombies, but it's still kind of fun to use when you're bored. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Cooking Pot Main Attack (X) - Side Strike & Side Strike Combo Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Attack Durability: About 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The cooking pot is a large metal pot with chili still in the bottom of it. Chuck looks as if he has quite a time using it as a weapon while he holds it. The two swings from the light attack are both very slow and it will take about 2 hits per zombie to kill it. The overhead attack will sometimes kill a zombie. The pot takes about the same amount of damage as an overhead hit when thrown at a zombie. Overall, this is a very bad weapon to use. Not only is it bulky and hard for Chuck to handle but also its durability is very low. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Crowbar Main Attack (X) - Crowbar Strike Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: -- The Crowbar is a really good weapon for single kills. Chuck will hit a zombie with the bent end of the crowbar for the main attack and this will often kill a zombie with one strike. It deals about the same type of damage when thrown also. The main flaw with this weapon is that it is strictly single kill. It's very hard to kill multiple zombies with it. The crowbar is still a great weapon overall thanks to it durability and attack power however. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Dolly Main Attack (X) - Dolly Swing Push Attack * - Dolly Push * (B while behind standing dolly then hold X) Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The dolly is a piece of metal framework with wheels used to carry heavy objects. Chuck can stand in front of the dolly to pick it up and tote it or he can stand behind it and the player can push B to make Chuck grab the dolly then press the X button to push it. If the dolly ever falls or gets knocked over sideways, pick it up and press d-pad down to place the dolly back on the ground to be able to push it again. While toting a dolly, Chuck can hit a zombie with it while pressing the X button. It will usually take two dolly swings to kill a zombie. While pushing the dolly, Chuck will almost never kill a zombie while ramming into one, but this is a great way to clear a path and get from one point to another very quickly. Chuck will run with the dolly in front of him, and he moves rather fast, so this is an excellent weapon to use for quicker movement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Donkey Lamp Main Attack (X) - Donkey Lamp Slap Durability: About 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- A donkey lamp is a plastic donkey figure with a small lamp strapped over the top of it. It takes about the full 10 hits to kill a zombie with it, but at least it kills much faster than a serving tray. Now, why in the world would Chuck want to beat a zombie with a donkey lamp? Well, personally, I sometimes beat a zombie with a donkey lamp after impaling it with a stick pony. It sort of adds to the hilarity to me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Fancy Small Chair Main Attack (X) - Chair Swing Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Strike Durability: About 5 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- Not only is Chuck hitting a zombie with a chair while using this weapon, but he is beating that zombie with a FANCY chair. In other words, that zombie is dying in style! This chair has some overall good range for both of its attacks and the attacks take off decent damage. It will take two hits from either swing to finish off a zombie. The major flaw with this weapon is that it will break in 5 hits, so Chuck won't be hitting too many zombies with this stylish chair for long. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Fancy Tall Chair Main Attack (X) - Chair Poke Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Strike Durability: About 5 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This chair is almost exactly like the small chair. It's still fancy though, which means that the zombies hit by it are so lucky to die by such a fine piece of furniture. The main difference between this chair and the small chair is that Chuck will poke forward with the tall chair for its main attack. The tall chair has greater overall range than the small chair since its legs are longer. The tall chair still breaks within five hits however, so it's basically ruined in usefulness by its durability just like the small chair. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Fire Extinguisher Main Attack (X) - Freeze Blast Durability: 100% coolant Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The fire extinguisher is much more fun to use this time around. In the original Dead Rising, Frank could only spray a zombie with it and stagger it a bit with the coolant inside before it broke. In Dead Rising 2, Chuck can spray the zombie a bit and freeze it in place with the coolant. Hold the X button to shoot a coolant spray from the extinguisher. After freezing a zombie with coolant, it can be shattered with a hit from any weapon to gain 20 PP. The zombie will thaw out of the coolant in about 10 seconds, so be quick. It's good to have a weapon with wide range to hit the frozen zombies with - such as a spiked bat or paddle. The coolant blast can be precisely aimed by holding the LT button while holding the X button. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Flashlight Main Attack (X) - Flashlight Swing Durability: About 15 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- If there was a zombie outbreak in my neighborhood, one of the first things, I would grab would be my trusty flashlight. My flashlight is one heavy duty plastic light that could crush zombie skulls in an instant if I was to hit a zombie directly in the forehead with its front end. Too bad the flashlight that Chuck finds isn't as good as mine. The flashlight that Chuck finds will always stay lit while it remains in his hands, so it can used to illuminate the current path in front of him when it is dark. Other than that, the flashlight can kill zombies in about two hits with its main attack. The swing will only hit one zombie at a time. The flashlight takes little damage when thrown at a zombie as well. Overall, it's a bad weapon with some illumination for nighttime. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Folding Chair Main Attack (X) - Chair Swing Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Attack Durability: About 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The folding chair is an overall weak weapon. It's main attack takes about three hits to kill a zombie. Its overhead attack will sometimes kill, though not always. The chair is best thrown at a zombie really. The impact the chair makes when tossed will usually kill a zombie. The chair is not durable at all really and it's a single kill only weapon for the most part. It's pretty rare to find one around Still Creek. It's as if the locals were trying to throw away all the folding chairs in the town since they knew that a folding chair would never come in much use during a zombie outbreak. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Football Main Attack (X) - Football Toss Durability: 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The football can be both a fun and useful weapon at the same time. It's best to aim for a zombie by holding the LT button before tossing it. Chuck will get in position before tossing the ball just like a football player. The ball will hit a zombie then bounce off the first zombie and hit two more zombies. Each football hit will usually kill a zombie. The football doesn't last over 3 tosses however so it's durability is very short lived. It's still a fun weapon to use though and a good weapon for long distance kills. Go long, police zombie! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Garbage Bag Main Attack (X) - Two hit Bag Swing Durability: 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- Well, Chuck uses a garbage can to knock aside the undead so why not use a garbage bag full of garbage to slap them aside as well? The garbage bag is an extremely weak weapon when swinging it. It will sometimes knock down a zombie and sometimes just stagger them a bit. Chuck will likely not kill a zombie with a garbage bag, but I'm sure it can be done with enough effort! Once the bag breaks, it will leave behind a random food item such as a hotdog. The food item can be good or spoiled. If it is spoiled then Chuck will vomit and have a stomachache after eating it. It serves him right for eating food found in the trash though! Ewwww! A garbage bag can be destroyed instantly by tossing it at the ground. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Garbage Can Main Attack (X) - Three hit swing Durability: 20 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The garbage can is a concrete container with a blue plastic top. It will always release a random item once it is busted open. The garbage can may be tossed to the ground in order to make it bust open to reveal its contents immediately after picking it up. The garbage can isn't that bad of a melee weapon either. Chuck swings wide with each hit of its three hit swing. Press the X button rapidly to make Chuck perform all three swings. The garbage can will only do decent damage with its swings. It will take about two hits to kill off most zombies. It can be a good weapon for zombie crowds, but mainly for knocking them down rather than killing them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Gems Main Attack (X) - Jewelry Toss Durability: 20 jewelry tosses Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This weapon is associated exclusively with Gemini's side quest after rescuing her. Her gems that were lost in the Quarantine Area will be lying outside the passenger side of a yellow car parked along the left side of the street after Gemini and Fausto are rescued. This weapon is a collection of jewelry. Chuck can toss the gems at zombies and the fine shower of sparkles will damage them. It will take several jewelry tosses to kill a single zombie. These can be decent for showering a crowd or just staggering a crowd. The LT button can be held to aim the gems in a direction for precision aiming. At least 19 jewelry tosses can be used before giving them back to Gemini at the Gas Station for a reward. The durability of one toss must be kept to complete the side mission. It's really best just to carry these in the inventory and give them back to Gemini, but... she'll never know that Chuck threw a bit of her jewelry at zombies. Some of it just got lost along the way, right? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Green Spray Paint Main Attack (X) - Spray Paint Durability: %100 spray paint Book Support: -- Combines with: Pylon (Air Horn) The spray paint comes in two varieties (green and purple) but both are the same when it comes to combining them with a pylon or attacking. Other than combining this weapon with the pylon to make the air horn, the spray paint is basically useless outside of having some fun. Each can comes with 100% spray paint inside. Hold the X button or hold LT then hold the X button to spray the paint. The paint will stay on the zombie for a while, but it won't damage it. This weapon is mainly used for amusement. While not having anything else better to do, Chuck could trap a zombie inside a barrel and spray it in the face while it walks around defenseless... but he wouldn't want to do that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Gumball Machine Main Attack (X) - Two Hit Gumball Machine Swing Durability: About 15 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- I used to own my own gumball machine. I used to stub my toe against the steel bottom on accident while walking by it every now and then and it would hurt quite a bit. I'd hate to imagine being slapped by the bottom end of it... and that's exactly the end that Chuck hits a zombie with for the first hit. Man, that's got to hurt. Thankfully they're undead though, so we can do all type of crazy things to them and not think too much of it. Chuck will perform a two hit swing with the gumball machine when a player taps the X button. The gumball machine will usually kill a zombie within 2-3 hits. It's not as strong as one would think really. The gumballs inside the machine will roll out once the machine once it is busted or once it shatters when thrown. Zombies will trip and fall over the rolling gumballs if they walk over them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Handbag Main Attack (X) - Purse Slap Durability: About 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The handbag is a woman's purse that Chuck can slap zombies with. The normal slap is very weak and this weapon breaks very quickly. The handbag is best used for throwing in order to receive its contents. It will leave behind certain random items - usually money or a handgun. I can understand a handgun, but I would expect a credit card rather than cash in a purse, Capcom. Really... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Highback Oak Chair Main Attack (X) - Chair Poke Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Strike Durability: About 5 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The Highback Oak chair is basically just like the Fancy Tall Chair, except it doesn't have as much range with its smaller legs. Chuck will poke a zombie with the chair legs for its main attack and beat a zombie over head with the chair legs for its alternate attack. It will take about 2 hits from both attacks to finish off a zombie. The chair will break immediately after being thrown. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Keg Main Attack (X) - Keg Strike Durability: About 20 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The Keg is a steel cylinder used to hold beer. While holding this weapon, Chuck can slap a zombie in the face with the side of the keg. The hit will give off a satisfying clanging noise as the zombie's head meets the metal. The keg deals decent damage but it will still usually take at least 2 hits to kill a zombie with the keg. The keg will stagger a zombie to the side or knock it straight down. Throwing the keg will deliver the same amount of damage as one hit from it while holding it. Beer will fall out of the keg as it breaks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Ketchup Main Attack (X) - Ketchup Spray Durability: 100% Ketchup Book Support: -- Combines with: -- As we all know, Ketchup is a popular food condiment that people place on hamburgers and dip their fries in. Ketchup is also good at resembling blood when splattered across a wall. Chuck can spray the ketchup by pressing the X button or holding the LT button before pressing the X button. The ketchup is used up very quickly - Chuck will use it up within about 3 seconds of starting the spray. Ketchup does no damage to zombies nor does it make them slip when poured across the ground. It can help to complete a gruesome scene though. Just think about it - Chuck places a bucket over a zombie's head shortly before cutting the zombie in half with a broadsword and then he can spray ketchup over the zombie's remains to add to the gore... right? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Large Barrel Main Attack (X) - Barrel Strike Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Smash Durability: About 20 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- Near the Dirty Drink bar, Chuck will find some large wooden barrels. These barrels are best thrown at zombies for the most part. They will roll after Chuck tosses them and the roll will usually kill most zombies in its path. I know... I know... Do a barrel roll! Its main attack is will usually not knock down a zombie and Chuck has slow recovery from this attack also. It will usually take two main attacks to finish off a zombie. Just one strike will usually cause the zombie to turn its back to Chuck. When Chuck performs an overhead smash on a zombie, the zombie will actually get the barrel stuck around them as it covers their body from the smash. They will walk around the area with a barrel over their bodies. The barrel will be damaged as a result. The barrel will automatically break a bit at the top from normal use as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Large Wrench Main Attack (X) - Wrench Smash Alternate Attack (hold X) - Power Swing Durability: About 25 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: -- This is a large red wrench. The wrench is just as useful as the crowbar. Just like the crowbar, the weapon is primarily single kill. Unlike the crowbar, it has two attacks. Chuck can hit a zombie over the head with its main attack or he can hit a zombie with is alternate attack and set it up for a power swing where Chuck will clobber the zombie's head off. Look to the left after the alternate attack swing - that's actually a zombie head rolling to the side. Chuck is da man! Even with its two attacks, the wrench is still only just about as good as the crowbar weapon. I really find the crowbar to be better than the wrench. The crowbar's attack is quicker and basically takes off the same amount of damage. The crowbar last just a bit longer than the wrench as well. Both weapons are still great to carry in Chuck's inventory for single zombies kills though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Lawn Dart Main Attack (X) - Dart Toss Durability: About 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- I never would have thought it, but a lawn dart is the ultimate cure for boredom during a zombie outbreak. I think I might order a box after writing this just in case there is a zombie outbreak in my neighborhood next week. The lawn dart is such a fun weapon to use overall. Press the X button or aim with the LT button while facing a zombie then press X and Chuck will toss the dart into the air. The dart will usually fall down and plunge right into the middle top portion of the zombie's head. It will give Chuck 10 PP extra per hit. The dart will kill any zombie that it hits successfully. The dart is not always guaranteed to hit. Sometimes it will just fall to the side of the zombie. You'll just have to pick it up and toss it once again. Standing in place and facing the zombie that Chuck tosses the dart at will increase the odds of it hitting the zombie in the head. The lawn dart is one of the most fun weapons in Case Zero. It's so much fun to lure zombies into an open area then toss darts at them. Sometimes the zombie will walk in place for a while with the dart sunk in its head before falling to the ground. Who knew that a lawn dart could be so fun during such hazardous times? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Leaf Rake Main Attack (X) - Two hit Rake Swing Durability: About 25 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: Battery (Electric Rake) This is a wooden rake with steel teeth used for raking up leaves and other debris. The rake can also be used to push aside zombie crowds! Chuck will perform a two hit swing attack while pushing the X button. The swing is very rapid. He can swing continuously without the need to recover. It usually takes about 5 hits to kill a zombie with the rake. Each swing will push a zombie back and cause it to stagger a bit. The toss of a rake is barely even more powerful than a normal swing. A player will mainly want to use this weapon to combine with a battery in order to get the Electric Rake. About the only time that you'll feel the need to attack with it is to push aside zombies while taking it to a maintenance bench to combine it since it is rather weak overall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Mailbox Main Attack (X) - Three hit Mailbox Swing Combo Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This weapon is a standard steel mailbox used for mail dropoffs. Chuck can pick it up and bash some zombies with it also. The three hit combo that Chuck performs will kill a zombie in two hits with any of its swings. A tossed mailbox will usually kill a zombie with a direct hit. Each hit of its three hit main attack will cause mail to drop out of the box. Little Timmy will never get his Christmas list to Santa now because of a viral outbreak and Chuck strewing mail throughout the area as he beats zombies upside the head with this mailbox. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Metal Garbage Can Main Attack (X) - Three Hit Swing Durability: About 20 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This green metal garbage can has the same durability as the standard garbage can. It has a different combination swing though. Chuck will swing downward then upward in a quick motion then make one final downward swing. The swings are not that powerful, but they can usually kill a zombie within two hits. The weakest zombies will die with one hit. The garbage can will release a random item once it is broken. Chuck can immediately break the garbage can by tossing it just like with the standard garbage can. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Military Case Main Attack (X) - Two Hit Case Swing Combo Durability: About 15 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The military case is a steel case used to transport military weapons. Chuck can pick up a military case and perform a two hit swing combo for its main attack. The case swing hits fairly wide but it's not too damaging overall and it has some long recovery time in between each swing. It will usually take about 2-3 hits to kill a zombie with the military case while swinging it. The case is best thrown at a zombie crowd. The case is wide so it will knock down a few zombies in a row sometimes. Once the case has broken, it will release a gun. The case must be fully broken in order to receive its contents and the only way to break it is to lower its durability, so Chuck will have to tear the case apart by beating it against zombies or hit the case with another weapon in order to release the weapon inside. The weapon is usually just a handgun. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Mining Pick Main Attack (X) - Two Hit Swing Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Strike Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The mining pick is a wooden tool with a steel spike end used for breaking up rocks in a mine. The mining pick is a good overall weapon for attacking zombies, but it's literally just a watered-down sledge hammer really. The mining pick has the same type of two hit main attack swing as the sledge hammer but each hit will not always kill like with the sledge hammer. The hits will sometimes strip a zombie of a body part, but not that often. The overhead attack will always kill a zombie just like with the sledge hammer. This weapon has a very cool-looking throw. Chuck will hold the mining pick behind his back with both hands then toss it forward. The throw will usually take two hits to kill a zombie, but the animation for the throw is unique much like the Broadsword's throw. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Moosehead Main Attack (X) - Two Hit Horn Flick Alternate Attack (hold X) - Moosehead Ram Durability: About 40 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- You've got to be kidding me...? Why yes. In some stores lying on a mantle, there is a head of a moose that Chuck can wear. He can also buy it from the Pawn Shop for $500 after saving Dick. Once Chuck dons this animal head, he is no longer human - Chuck is one with the moose at that time. An animal noise will confirm this! For its main attack, Chuck will flick his head upward and ram a zombie with the moosehead's horns. Chuck will perform one head ram from the right then one from the left. Either of these attacks will instantly knock a zombie out of the way and give Chuck 10 PP per hit. It takes about two hits to kill a zombie - sometimes only one. For the alternate attack, Chuck will dash forward and ram any zombie that gets in his way with the moose's horns. This is a very devastating attack that will kill any zombie that gets hit. It's also a good move for traveling somewhere quickly - travel by moosehead for quicker transportation! This weapon has an extremely high durability but it will break fast when ramming through a crowd of zombies! The biggest flaw to this weapon is how long it takes Chuck to equip it along with the fact that it can't be carried in his inventory. A zombie will knock off the moosehead with any attack. If a crowd of zombies is around Chuck and one of them manages to knock off his trusty moosehead, Chuck will not be able to reequip it fast enough to fight back most of the time. You'll likely have to leave the moosehead and get rid of the zombie crowd first since Chuck takes too long to put the moosehead on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Motor Oil Main Attack (X) - Bottle Swing Durability: About 15 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This white and red bottle of motor oil can be used to slap zombies aside while rushing through the streets of Still Creek. The motor oil is a very weak weapon when hitting a zombie with it. It will only turn the zombie to the side much like the serving tray weapon. Motor Oil's main kicker is realized when tossing it at the ground near a crowd of zombies. Any zombie that walks through the oil that remains on the ground will slip and fall. The zombie won't take any damage from the fall. Motor Oil is used mainly for laughs when there is nothing else to do. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Mustard Main Attack (X) - Mustard Spray Durability: 100% Mustard Book Support: -- Combines with: -- Mustard works much like Ketchup. Just hold the X button and Chuck will spray mustard from the bottle. Just like Ketchup, the Mustard will not take damage or cause the zombie to slip when strewn across the ground. It is used up rather quickly as well. Mustard is usually the finishing touch to my walking servebot masterpiece. I like to place a servebot mask over a zombie's head then stab it with a stick pony. While the zombie walks around with the stick pony through its chest, I sometimes spray mustard on it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Newspaper Main Attack (X) - Newspaper Slap Durability: 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: Whiskey (for Molotov) Read the latest headlines, scold Katey or slap a zombie with these rolled up pages of recycled paper. The newspaper should never be used as a weapon though. It can't kill a zombie with one roll. It can't even kill a zombie with two rolls. It sure is fun to slap a zombie with a newspaper, but Chuck likely won't be able to kill one with it whether he slaps one or tosses the newspaper at it. The newspaper is used mainly for making the Molotov combo weapon. Other than the Molotov, it's practically useless... except for humor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Newspaper Box Main Attack (X) - Side Strike Combo Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Attack Durability: About 25 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- "What's going on in the world today?" Chuck asks a zombie before he flattens it with a metal box full of today's newspapers. A newspaper box will be either red or green and most are found around the street corners. Chuck can perform a two hit side swipe combo by tapping X or he can lift the box into the air and hit a zombie over the head with it. Both of the attacks for this weapon do some decent damage. Sometimes just one strike with the box's main attack will kill off a zombie. The newspaper box is rather durable also. Tossing it at a group of zombies can be a good option for clearing a path through a crowd, though the box isn't as big as some other objects that Chuck can find. It will kill just about any zombie that it hits after being thrown. Once the box is destroyed, a single newspaper will be left behind. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Nightstick Main Attack (X) - Nightstick Swing Durability: About 20 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The nightstick is a rather good single kill weapon. It only has one attack where Chuck will strike forward with it, but that one swing will almost always kill any zombie. Chuck also hits the zombie very quickly with the nightstick. The nightstick's durability is only moderate. It will break a bit faster than other single kill weapons. The nightstick is not good at all when tossed at a zombie. The stick is too light to damage a zombie in order to kill it quickly and the thrown stick will not even knock a zombie to the ground or stagger it that much. Overall, the nightstick is a good weapon. Its lack of durability when compared to other single hit weapons is its major downfall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Paddle Main Attack (X) - Two hit Paddle Swing Durability: About 25 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: Chainsaw (Paddlesaw) The paddle is used for rafting while paddling in a stream of water while in a boat. It has two plastic ends that Chuck can hit zombies with. The main attack is similar to the leaf rake swing. Chuck will move forward and strike to the side with each paddle end. The combo attack can be done rapidly to hit zombies multiple times. Unlike the leaf rake, the paddle will knock zombies down. It takes a bit more damage as well. Chuck can kill a zombie with a paddle in about 3-4 hits. The paddle takes slightly more damage when thrown. A player will mainly want to save this weapon to combine with a chainsaw for the paddle saw. It's not really that great of a weapon when used by itself, though it is better than using a leaf rake. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Pallet Main Attack (X) - 2 hit Pallet Swing Combo Durability: About 15 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: -- This pallet was once used to stack goods on while keeping them in storage. Now it is used to lay the smackdown on hordes of the undead. The main attack for the pallet is a two hit swing combo. It will usually take both swings to fully kill a zombie. Each hit will knock a zombie down. The swings are quicker than the usual big weapon so the pallet isn't too bad of a weapon for small crowds. The pallet's durability is only about 15 hits, so it is going to break rather quickly. Once it breaks, a 2x4 will be left behind. It can be tossed at a zombie or tossed directly at the ground to make it break immediately to get a 2x4. The toss takes the same amount of damage as one swing from the pallet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Pan Main Attack (X) - Pan Strike Alternate Attack (hold X) - Face Burn* * Only after being heated at a stove. Durability: 15 hits (unheated), 30 hits (heated) Book Support: -- Combines with: -- A pan's true potential is unlocked once it is heated at a stove. Place the pan on any of the stoves found around Still Creek to heat it. Chuck will receive a 1000 PP bonus for heating the pan and a 2500 PP bonus for using all three stoves in Still Creek. Heating the pan will also make it more durable and cause it to take off more damage. Chuck will also get an extra face burn attack after the pan is heated. For it's light attack, Chuck will smack a zombie with the bottom of the pan. The strike will sometimes kill a zombie, but not always. The pan's face burn after being heated will always kill any zombie that it hits. Chuck will be rewarded with a 10 PP bonus per face burn as well. The pan is a pretty good weapon once it is heated overall. Its durability is one of the best parts about using it. It will last a while and with its single kill face burn and normal strike that has about a 50% chance of killing a zombie it can come in handy as a useful weapon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Pitchfork Main Attack (X) - Fork Poke Alternate Attack (hold X) - Fork Impale and Throw Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: -- The pitchfork is a wooden tool with a steel fork end that is used for bailing hay or tossing aside the undead. For its main attack, Chuck will poke forward with the fork. The fork poke will usually kill a zombie within 2-3 hits. For the alternate attack, Chuck will impale a zombie with the fork and toss it behind him. This will give the player a 10 PP bonus and also kill the zombie instantly. The pitchfork also has a good throw attack. Chuck will toss the pitchfork and impale a zombie with its fork end to kill it instantly. It's quite pleasing to perform the throw attack against single zombies. The pitchfork is a decent weapon overall but it's a very close range weapon and its basically only a single zombie killing weapon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Plates Main Attack (X) - Plate Toss Durability: 20 plates Book Support: -- Combines with: -- For each pickup of plates, Chuck will be holding a total of 20. He will toss the plates directly ahead and they can be tossed rapidly by tapping the X button. Both the normal attack and toss of the plate while holding LT are the exact same, but a player can aim more easily while holding LT. It will usually take about 5 plates to kill a single zombie. This is more of a long-range weapon than close range. Overall, the plates are more of a novelty weapon than actually useful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Playing Cards Main Attack (X) - Card Toss Durability: 20 card tosses Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This is a standard set of cards that were likely used to cure boredom at one point. Now they can be used as a weapon to humiliate the undead. Chuck can toss up to 20 sets of cards at a group of zombies. The zombies will stagger a bit from the card tosses as the cards hit them. A player can aim the cards by holding the LT button while tossing them. The cards take very little damage, but they can kill a zombie. It will basically take the full 20 tosses to kill a zombie with playing cards, but it can be done. Tossing the deck of cards is far from a Gambit royal flush, but they're still fun to use at times. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Power Drill Main Attack (X) - Drill Stab Durability: About 35 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: -- The power drill is a blue drill that Chuck can use to stab zombies with. Chuck will turn the drill on for a bit as he stabs a zombie in the chest. The drill will often kill a zombie with either of its attacks, but the kill is not always guaranteed. The drill attack must fully hit as it touches the zombie, or the hit will not kill. Both attacks can suffer from not killing. Neither attack is really better than the other overall. Chuck can hit a zombie by tossing the power drill by holding the LT button before tapping the X button also. For some reason, it is hilarious to hit a zombie directly in the head with a power drill to me. The power drill is very durable overall, but its strictly single kill for the most part. When Chuck comes upon a crowd, put this weapon away and take out another weapon! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Propane Tank Main Attack (X) - 2 hit Swing Durability: About 25 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: Box of Nails (I.E.D.) The propane tank is a small metal tank filled with flammable gas. Chuck can carry this with both hands and perform a two hit swinging combo against zombies while holding it. The hits are very weak overall. It will take about 3 hits to kill a single zombie. The tank can be shot with a gun to make it explode. The explosion can clear out an entire group of zombies at once. Chuck can carry the propane tank up to a group of zombies then toss it into the middle of the group and shoot the tank to kill the entire crowd of zombies at times. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Purple Spray Paint Main Attack (X) - Spray Paint Durability: %100 spray paint Book Support: -- Combines with: Pylon (Air Horn) The spray paint comes in two varieties (green and purple) but both are the same when it comes to combining them with a pylon or attacking. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Push Broom (Broom Handle) Main Attack (X) - Brush Push, Stick Poke (without brush) Alternate Attack (hold X) - Handle Ram Durability: 15 hits (brush), 20 hits (broom handle) Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: -- The Push Broom is a wooden broom with a green brush used for cleaning. Chuck can use its main attack to push zombies straight to the ground - this move basically takes no damage. He can also hit a zombie with the handle and knock them down. The handle hit only does moderate damage and won't kill a zombie very quickly. The push broom's brush will break off after about 15 hits and it will become the "Broom Handle". The main attack will change to a stick poke where Chuck will poke a zombie with the broken end of the broom. This attack can be powerful at times. It has the potential to kill a zombie in one hit, though not always. The push broom isn't that bad of a weapon overall if there is no other useful weapon in the area. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Pylon Main Attack (X) - Pylon Helmet Durability: 15 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: Green/Purple Spray Paint (Air Horn) The pylon is a plastic orange cone that is used for blocking off roads. It also makes a good helmet for the undead. When pressing the X button while near a zombie, Chuck will slap a pylon over its head. The zombie will walk around and be completely harmless while the pylon remains on its head. It's kind of funny to make walking road hazards then plow through them with a dolly or moosehead at times. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Round Potted Plant Main Attack (X) - Potted Plant Hit Durability: About 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This is a clay pot with a greenish plant inside. The round potted plant is best thrown at a zombie. When it is tossed at a zombie, the plant will often kill a zombie with that one hit. It will break, but Chuck won't really want to carry this weapon around the area with him. Other than tossing it, Chuck can hit a zombie with the side of the pot. It will take around 3 hits to finish off each zombie and it will knock them down with each hit. Sadly, the pot will break in about 10 hits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Saw Blade Main Attack (X) - Blade Toss Durability: ? Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The saw blade is a metal blade used for cutting wood on a saw machine. The blade can be tossed at a group of zombies and it will cut any that it touches in half. This can take down several zombies that stand in a straight line. Chuck can toss the blade normally by tapping the X button or the blade can be aimed with more precision by holding the LT button. The saw blade is an instant kill on any zombie when it is tossed. You're likely not to find the blade again after tossing it if Chuck tosses it out in the open streets however. It travels far and really needs a wall to stop it if you intend on using it again. It's not that bad of a weapon, but it's better just used at the spur of the moment when it's found rather than carrying it around in Chuck's inventory. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Scissors Main Attack (X) - Scissor Impale Durability: About 2 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This is a pair of scissors used for cutting hair. A person should never run with a pair of scissors or that person could accidentally kill themselves by getting impaled by its sharp ends. It would really suck to die by a pair of scissors and then get up later as a zombie only to have Chuck jam another pair of scissors into your face. Can we say double pwn? For its main attack, Chuck will stick the pair of scissors into a zombie's head. The zombie will walk around with a pair of scissors sticking out of its face and be completely harmless. The zombie will not die with the scissors poking out of its head however. Chuck will have to kill off the zombie with another weapon to finish it. Scissors have an extremely low durability. After one use, they will shatter with the next usage. Throwing them takes very little damage also. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Servebot Mask Main Attack (X) - Servebot Helmet Durability: 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The servebot mask is a yellow robot head full of extreme happiness that resembles one of Tron Bonne's servebots from Mega Man Legends. This little toy helmet is such a token item in Dead Rising - it's just got to be there for laughs! The servebot mask now comes with three different expressions that I refer to as amused, overjoyed and happy. Chuck can place a servebot mask over a zombie's head and gain 50 PP per placement. The zombie will be completely harmless while it wears this happy little mask. It's kind of funny to use this in combination with other items such as ketchup, mustard, stick ponies, spray paint, etc for some extra laughs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Serving Tray Main Attack (X) - Tray Strike Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- It's going to be hard, but Chuck can actually kill a zombie with a serving tray! Usually, when Chuck slaps a zombie with a serving tray, he will hit the zombie from the side and cause the zombie to turn to the left and make its back face Chuck. The serving tray takes off about the same amount of damage when thrown at a zombie as it does from a normal strike. The serving tray is more of a last resort weapon overall, though it is very fun to slap a zombie with a serving tray while passing by one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Shampoo Main Attack (X) - Shampoo Bottle Toss Durability: 1 toss Book Support: -- Combines with: -- Shampoo is a pink bottle of shampoo used for cleansing hair or causing the undead to trip and fall. Chuck can only toss the shampoo bottle. When the X button is pressed Chuck will charge a throw then toss the shampoo bottle. The bottle will break after one throw. Any zombie that walks over the shampoo that falls out of the bottle will slip and fall. It's really best to hold the LT button and aim when tossing the shampoo. The shampoo bottle can kill weaker zombies with one hit, but most will take multiple hits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Shower Head Main Attack (X) - Shower Head Impale Durability: About 5 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The shower head is a steel piece placed on the pipe above a tub to separate the flowing water of a shower faucet into several small streams. Chuck can jab this metal piece into the head of any zombie that gets in hit path and make himself a walking blood sprinkler! The zombie that he impales with the shower head will be completely harmless as it walks around and spews blood from its head through the shower head. The zombie will eventually fall over and die. The shower head can be thrown at zombies, but the throw is not that damaging at all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Sledge Hammer Main Attack (X) - Two Hit Swing Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Strike Durability: About 35 hits Book Support: Building Magazine Combines with: -- The Sledge Hammer is easily one of the best normal weapons that Chuck can find. This weapon packs a lot of power with either of its attacks. The first hit of the main attack swing will likely kill a zombie. Its overhead hit will instantly kill any zombie and give Chuck 10 PP. The sledge hammer has a habit of knocking off a head, arm or leg from a zombie very often. It's a great weapon for crowds with its main attack and both attacks are good for single kills. The weapon's toss is instant kill as well, but it doesn't have good range. The sledge hammer is very durable - lasting over 30 hits! The only real flaw with this weapon is the recovery time after a two hit swing. Chuck will take a bit of time to recover from the second swing so make sure that no zombies are near him while he stands in place. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Small Potted Plant Main Attack (X) - Potted Plant Strike Durability: 2 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- This is a small clay pot with a green plant inside. This weapon is extremely weak and can't kill a zombie with a hit or a toss without any prior damage. The only advantage that it has over the round potted plant is that it can be carried in the inventory. This weapon breaks in two hits and will break immediately when thrown. It's basically useless. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Steel Shelving Main Attack (X) - Shelve Swing Alternate Attack (hold X) - Shelve Ram Durability: About 30 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The Steel Shelving is a set of three steel shelves that Chuck can tote around with him and beat zombie with. The main attack is a simple swing of all three shelves. This attack is very slow and has some major recovery time. For the alternate attack, Chuck will hold the shelving in front of him and run forward a bit to ram a zombie. This can be useful for knocking down crowds. The shelves will shatter instantly once thrown. They are pretty durable overall when hitting zombies, but really only the alternate attack is useful since the other has such major recovery time. Both attacks can kill a zombie, but it's only about a 50% chance overall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Stick Pony Main Attack (X) - Pony Head Poke Alternate Attack (hold X) - Stick Impale Durability: About 10 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- Ahoho, yes! This is one of my favorite weapons for messing around with. This weapon is a stick with pony head at the end of it. Little children use this toy to act as if they are riding a pony when they place it in between their legs but with Chuck... it is the ultimate way to humiliate a zombie overall. Use the stick impale attack then place a servebot mask or other object over the zombie's head for some good times. Chuck will hold the stick and poke forward with the pony head for its main attack. It will take about 5 pokes to kill a zombie with the main attack. Chuck will impale a zombie with the stick for the alternate attack. The zombie will walk around with a pony head in front of it while the electronic pony head neighs. Eventually the zombie will die, but it will walk around for about 3 seconds with the stick stuck through its chest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Stool Main Attack (X) - Seat Poke Alternate Attack (hold X) - Overhead Strike Durability: About 5 hits Book Support: -- Combines with: -- With its low durability, the stool is more of a last resort weapon. Chuck will poke a zombie with the seat portion of the stool for its light attack and hit a zombie overhead with the legs for its heavy attack. The poke move is very weak overall, but it has more range than the other attack. The overhead strike is more damaging, but it won't always kill. The stool will bust immediately after being thrown at a zombie. Its damage when thrown is about equal to an overhead strike. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Tire Main Attack (X) - Tire Helmet Durability: Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The tire is more of a weapon to use for fun. Chuck will slam the tire around a zombie's head for its main attack. The zombie will walk in place with a tire around its head and won't be able to attack. In order to damage a zombie with a tire, Chuck will have to toss the tire at a zombie. The tire may roll a bit. It's hard to kill a zombie by tossing a tire. It takes little damage and will mainly just knock down any zombie that it hits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Utility Cart Main Attack (X) - Cart Swing Push Attack * - Cart Push * (B while behind standing cart then hold X) Durability: Infinite (can't break) Book Support: -- Combines with: -- The utility cart is a plastic cart used to transport heavy objects. Chuck will gain this weapon as a key item after case 0-2. He must push the cart back to the gas station to complete case 0-3. The cart contains a motorcycle. Chuck can grab the cart handles by pressing the B button. Push the cart by holding the X button while Chuck holds the handles. The cart cannot break no matter how many hits it takes. It's indestructible. It will sometimes kill a zombie with one hit and it will sometimes take two hits. Since the cart is indestructible, Chuck can race along the streets and run over zombies with it. If the cart ever tumps over or gets off track in any way to where Chuck cannot push it, pick up the cart by pressing the B button then place it back on the ground by tapping D-pad down. Chuck can push the cart once again after placing it on the ground by grabbing the handle. Chuck can toss the cart at zombies while holding it. The toss is just about as damaging as a cart ram. It definitely is big enough to knock down a crowd, but it doesn't roll that well at all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Water Cooler (Water Bottle) Main Attack (X) - Three Hit Case Swing Combo Durability: About 25 hits (cooler), about 15 hits (water bottle) Book Support: -- Combines with: -- Oh, now this is hilarious. Chuck can beat a zombie to the ground with a water cooler. Haha! Chuck will perform a three hit side swing combo for the weapon's main attack when the X button is tapped a few times. The swings are not that damaging overall and they are very slow. Chuck will kill a zombie within two swings of the water cooler. The water bottle will fall off the cooler after the 15th hit. The water bottle will also fall off if Chuck tosses the water cooler at the ground. Chuck can actually hit a zombie with the separate water bottle that falls off the cooler unit. The water bottle by itself is extremely weak. You'll be lucky to kill a zombie within its 15 hit durability period. It's the novelty that counts though! Both weapons take off the same amount of damage when thrown as compared to a normal swing. The cooler unit is big enough to knock down several zombies in a row, but it will likely not kill a zombie with a single toss. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [CW00] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C O M B O W E A P O N L I S T ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- SPIKED BAT Baseball Bat + Box of Nails Baseball Bat Locations: - Gas Station (beside Maintenance table) - Near Van (outside Gas Station shed) - To the left of the Maintenance Room of Big Buck Hardware Box of Nails Locations: - Gas Station - Uncle Bill's Department Store Move List: - Bat Swing (Light attack) PP earned: 50 per kill - Bat Impale (Heavy attack) PP earned: 200 per kill Scratch Card: No scratch card. While it is lodged into a zombie's back, Chuck can shoot the I.E.D. with any weapon and make it explode. The explosion will kill off any surrounding zombies for 300 PP each. Where do they keep coming from? Extra Info: The quickest way I have found to do this is to find zombies that have Queen bees in them and kill them then take the queen - the zombie will raise its hands as if in pain when it has a Queen Bee on it. Find a big group of zombies and toss the Queen Bee near them to kill them all at once. Keep finding Queens and doing this to raise kills quickly. Use the spiked bat to kill the Queen carriers. The paddlesaw and moosehead will also help a bunch for killing zombies quickly though they break very easy. The quarantine area and the area directly in front of the gas station (near the pumps) usually has the biggest crowds of zombies. NOTE: The 1,000 kills for this achievement must be done in one playthrough. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Small Town, Deep Pockets (20G) Description: Spent $100,000 in the pawnshop.
