This planet was once peaceful, but has recently suffered from repeated attacks by a hostile alien race known as the DomZ (maybe people will now understand where my contributor name comes from). A new military regime known as the Alpha Sections has stepped up and chosen to take action against the DomZ, although their previous attempts have been futile. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ The Lighthouse ]------------------------------------------------------------ The game starts off with a bang, as the main protagonist (Jade) and her orphan friends are suddenly attacked by the DomZ. You take control of Jade, a photo journalist and martial arts expert. Using the torch, press X to fend off the DomZ Sarcophagi. You fight these aliens in pairs, though only one will attack at a time. You can move the Left Analog Stick while attacking to perform various combos, such as a forward smash or a backflip attack. After disposing of the final three and rescuing the trapped orphans, Jade is dragged down into a pit by a much more ferocious monster. However, Pey'j is here to help! o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Lighthouse Monster | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Before you can attack the DomZ Lighthouse Monster, you must first free | | yourself from the cage you were placed in. Using the Dai-jo staff, hold | | down X to charge a Super-Attack and let go to unleash a burst of energy. | | | | The DomZ Lighthouse Monster has three attacks that it uses through the | | course of the battle. It can shoot a laser beam out of its eye and use it | | to comb the room. Since you cannot jump in this game, run towards either | | side of the room to avoid it. | | | | The boss can also summon two DomZ Sarcophagi monsters, which are easier to | | take down with your new weapon (plus, Pey'j will help out as well). The | | boss also create pillars of light that marks where giant arms will emerge | | from the ground. Attack these arms to make them go away. The boss uses | | these three attacks in this exact order. | | | | The protective cage surrounding the boss will lower after you withstand | | all three attacks or if you use a Super-Attack on the cage. With the cage | | lowered and the boss's eye exposed, strike it with your Dai-jo. Repeat | | this a few times to defeat the DomZ Lighthouse Monster. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o The boss falls, and you obtain your first Pearl: [PEARL #1]. Step into the beam of light the Alpha Sections leaves behind for a quick cutscene. Jade comes to inside the lighthouse. The shield is still deactivated, and you aren't allowed outside of the lighthouse due to predatory animals lurking in the vicinity. To help with her money problem, Jade's hologram buddy Secundo offers her a job as a wildlife photographer. The Science Center is looking for someone to take pictures of all the wildlife found on Hillys. Pick up the camera nearby and begin your new job by snapping a photo of the fly standing on the nearby barrel. Press the Left Bumper to enter Photo Mode. You can zoom in and out by using the Left Analog Stick, and the Right Bumper allows you to take a picture. Make sure to center your subject (the fly) so that the circular target turns from red to green. Snap a photo of the fly (ADALIA OCTOPUNCTATA), then press A to send it to the Science Center if you approve of the photo to automatically receive 150 Units. Take a picture of the orphan sitting down on the floor (HOMO SAPIENS) - you now have enough Units to power up the shield. Before you head outside, take some time to explore the lighthouse interior s'more. Venture into the kitchen and take the yellow triangular items out from the fridge. These are Starkos, and they can be used to restore Jade's health by pressing B (sift through items by pressing Left or Right on the D-Pad). You can find some more on the counter and inside the furnace. Kick the barrel between the furnace and the refrigerator to startle another fly. This one is green with large beady eyes, so it's an entirely new species that you will need to capture on film. Wait for it to stop flying around, then snap a photo of it (MUSCA SAPROPHAGIA). Your canine companion, Woof (CANIS CANIS) is found sleeping in a small alcove. Try to take the pink carton of food in his mouth to wake him up. He'll run downstairs and beg you to play with him; we will in a minute. Open the bathroom door to find a green device lying on the counter: the PA 1 increases your number of hearts by one. Pick up [PA 1 #1] here and exit the bathroom. Make sure to document the orphans walking around the lighthouse, such as the goat-like children with the horns (CAPRA SAPIENS). You can find two of them up here. Walk up the stairs and open the door leading to the top of the lighthouse. Exit out on top to find some more specimens. Walk out onto the orange portion of the shield and photograph one of the blue seabirds flying around (LARUS ALBUS). You may notice a tan bipedal creature scurrying on the very top of the light. Ignore it and go back inside, since we don't have the tools required to take a photo of it. Head down to the first floor and outside. Chase down Woof (run with the Right Trigger and roll by pressing the A button) and take the box of K-Bups from him. There is an orange field armadillo (PRIODONTES CAMPESTRIS) near the shield generator switch. Walk down the path near the large tree where the opening cutscene took place to find another armadillo and several blue fireflies (LAMPYRIS CAMPESTRIS). By now, you should have completed your first roll of film. As a reward, the Science Center gives you a zoom. Return to the top of the lighthouse and photograph the tan otter (LUTRA ERECTA) running around using your new zoom lens. Return to the base of the lighthouse and cross the field to the Hangar. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hangar ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- You can find your hovercraft down below, but continue to follow the floating robot instead to Pey'j's Workshop. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pey'j's Workshop ]---------------------------------------------------------- Take the MDisk entitled "Mr. De Castellac" from the counter and use it on the MDisk Reader to receive a mission from Mr. De Castellac; Pey'j agrees to join Jade on her mission to the Black Isle. Use the same MDisk Reader to save your game, then return to the Hangar. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hangar ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Descend the stairs to the docks to find Pey'j tinkering around with the hovercraft. If you didn't want to take a photo of Pey'j keester back in the workshop, you can take a more appropriate photograph of him here (SUS SAPIENS). Peer over the edge of the dock and take out your camera, then look for the long brown fish swimming through the water (DIPNEUSTES TRILINEATUS). They are pretty fast, so get the zoom right and snap a quick picture. Pick up the P-O-Ds and the Boosts off of the workbench (these can be used on your hovercraft). Approach the electrical generator and start to push it towards Pey'j. You cannot do it by yourself, so Pey'j joins in and helps you push it towards the wire, which in turn powers up the hovercraft. This is an early example of partnership, and using teamwork to get past obstacles and solve puzzles is a big part of this game. Hop in the hovercraft and leave the Hangar. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- To use your hovercraft, move around with the Left Analog Stick. It has a number of features, but you only start off with the bare minimum: you can drive, use a compass, and shoot. A friendly tip: don't shoot civilian boats or hovercars, because the Alpha Section will fine you every time. It may be funny to inflict pain and destruction on the innocent civilians, but there's a hefty price to pay, so don't bother. This area of Hillys acts as a hub, since there are many places to go and areas to explore from this spot. The hovercraft is banged up a bit, so you'll need to take it to Mammago Garage immediately for repairs. Press Y to use your compass to find the location of important areas. Mammago Garage is straight ahead, so head on over. You won't even make it halfway to the garage, but the workers there tow you into the garage. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Mammago Garage ]------------------------------------------------------------ Ahh, I love the music here! Talk to the man behind the help desk, then take a picture of him (RHINOCEROS SAPIENS). Save your game at the MDisk Reader, then go inside the garage to do a little shopping. Mammago Garage only accepts Pearls. Since we have one Pearl, you can buy the Speedcraft Motor. There are two vending machines inside Mammago Garage, both containing Meca- Impulsers. Similar to PA 1s, Meca-Impulsers increase your vehicle's energy gauge ("health") by one wrench. They each cost 1500 Units; you should have more than twice that amount, allowing you to buy the [MECA-IMPULSER #1] and [MECA-IMPULSER #2] from the two vending machines. With your hovercraft repaired and equipped with the Speedcraft Motor, head back out to Hillys. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Another DomZ attack is underway as soon as Jade and Pey'j leave Mammago Garage. This time, a gigantic serpent flies out of the sky and attacks! o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Sea Serpent | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | This boss is very easy. Before you start attacking it, back away and enter | | Photo Mode (yes, you can enter it even from inside the hovercraft). The | | DomZ Sea Serpent is fast and moves around quite a bit, so stay zoomed out | | and wait until you get a shot. Don't bother trying to get a nice-looking | | picture; any adequate shot of the boss (TERAOSAURUS IMPERATOR) will do. | | | | Now you can start fighting back against the serpent. The boss attacks by | | dropping large mines into the water that can either be avoided or blown up | | by a couple shots from your hovercraft. Use your new Speedcraft Motor by | | pressing the Right Trigger, which allows you to tail the DomZ Sea Serpent. | | As you shoot at the boss, its segments will start to fall apart; continue | | this until the DomZ Sea Serpent falls apart entirely. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o The DomZ Sea Serpent drops [PEARL #2] after its death. Pey'j points out a school of blue scorpion fish nearby: whip out your camera and get a shot of one of the fish (RASCAX CAERULEUS) as it dives out of the water. Even though your have an urgent mission at hand (Mr. De Castellac will likely send you a message telling you to hurry up), you should spend some time exploring Hillys. Turn on your compass and look towards the city, then move a little to the left. Drive up onto the beach and enter the cave. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Looters' Cavern 1 ]--------------------------------------------------------- As the name suggests, you can expect to find thieves and looters inside this cavern. One appears right away and steals 100 Units from you. Using your speed boost and experienced steering, you can chase down the looter through the hazard-filled cave. As you proceed through the cave, you will cross over beacons that release a spark and travel forward towards an open gate. The gate begins to close, and you must pass through the gate before it shuts in your face. Hold down the Right Trigger throughout the entire duration of the chase, and avoid the red laser traps along the way. If a gate closes before you can go through, you'll be transported back to the entrance. This first cavern has five gates that you must pass. After the final one, you reach a dead end; shoot down the looter to get your cash back, along with [PEARL #3]. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Time for one more detour: drive over towards Mammago Garage and go behind the garage. There should be a beach up near the left side of the wall; head up on the beach to a new area. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Vorax's Lair ]-------------------------------------------------------------- The majority of this area is closed off, but you can at least dock your hovercraft. Do so, then go up the ramp and open the vault to find [PA 1 #2]. Before leaving, photograph the green frogs on the ground (BUFO ERECTUS) and save at the MDisk Reader. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- The main route to the Black Isle is blocked off by an Alpha Sections Filter Robot, so you must cut through the city to reach your destination. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Main Canal ]---------------------------------------------------------------- The entrance to Black Isle is at the south gate - straight ahead. Feel free to explore the city before setting off for the island. Check out the Alpha Sections propaganda blaring on the television screens above the intersection. You will be seeing plenty of that on later visits into the city. The Pedestrian District is to your right, which makes up most of the city. You have to go there later in the game, so I wouldn't bother. However, there are hovercraft races to the left, which boast some nice prizes. I'd check them out if I were you. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Races 1 and 2 ]------------------------------------------------------------- The first two hovercraft races are pretty simple. You race with seven other competitors. In order to participate in subsequent races, you must place in the top four after three total laps. Come in first and you get a Pearl. The races themselves aren't that difficult. The courses are small and easy to memorize after the first lap. Take shortcuts and try not to use your boost on sharp turns. Also use the speed boosts on the water: they look like brown pads with arrows on them. Feel free to shoot the other racers to slow them down! Come in first place on Races 1 and 2 to receive [PEARL #8] and [PEARL #9], respectively. If you manage to beat the course record, you receive an extra 500 Units. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Main Canal ]---------------------------------------------------------------- From the hovercraft races, enter the intersection and continue left towards Black Isle. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Keep in mind that the Factory entrance is to the left of your current location; you will be going there a bit later. Set your sights on Black Isle, though, because it's dead ahead. Just as a friendly note: there is a small cave off to the left of the Black Isle containing a skeleton of a DomZ Sea Serpent. If you missed out on getting a picture during the boss battle, you can take a picture of the skeleton here. ============================================================================== 3.02] Black Isle [0302] ============================================================================== ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Black Isle ]---------------------------------------------------------------- Jade meets up with Mr. De Castellac's representative on the Black Isle dock. Your mission is to capture a photo of a very rare creature known as the Pterolimax, which can be found deep inside the island's mines. Save your game at the MDisk Reader before going inside the mine. There is a fork just ahead; take the right path and jump into the pipe. Crawl through to a dead end, where you can find a Starkos and a Boost. There's a metal grating that we cannot get past yet. Before you double back, make sure to photograph the weird insectoid creatures walking around (ASTACUS ERECTUS). You should now have completed your second roll of film, which earns you [PEARL #4]. Return to the intersection and take the other path. Approach the gate and press Y to make Pey'j stand on one of the two ground switches. Stand on the other one to apply enough pressure to open the gate. Enter the mine shaft. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Ancient Mine ]-------------------------------------------------------------- Talk to Pey'j inside and he reveals his latest invention to you: the Jet- Boots. While they aren't quite fit for his intentions, you can use the Jet- Boots to help progress through the mine. Approach the machine nearby and stand on one of the two switches. Press Y to have Pey'j use his Super Action to slam down onto the other switch using his Jet-Boots. Jade is subsequently launched onto the walkway above. Follow the walkway to a gear on the side of the wall and hit X next to it to drop down two ramps: one allows for easy access below and the other lets you continue. Go near the Evacuation Map stand and take a photo to have it scanned into your S-A-C. Now when you press Back, you can view the map. Walk forward towards the red bulb and the stacks of TNT. Take a picture of the red bulb (LYCOPERDON FUGIFERUS), then hit Y for Pey'j's Super Action. The ground pound causes the jelly to shoot up out of the ground. Once the jelly is in the air, press X to slow down time as a target appears onscreen. Aim towards either crate stack and hit X once more to whack the jelly into the TNT and set them off. Do this with both stacks to open up a pair of pathways. Collect the two Starkos and the Boost from inside the vault, then go down the other trail. Take a photo of the anemone on the wall (ANEMONIA MUTABILIS), then hit it with your Dai-jo to make it retract. This particular creature drops Materia Crystals, which is also used as currency (each crystal piece is worth 5 Units). There is a grate ahead, which can only be opened with some sort of tool. You should be able to find something here in the mine. Instead, walk past the raised ramp and the TNT-filled mine cart towards another red jelly. Do the same thing here as you did before to set off the TNT in the mine cart. The resulting explosion knocks the ramp down. Climb up the ramp onto the upper pathway. A Crochax bursts out of the floorboards and attacks! These vicious flying monsters can pounce on you if you stand still, leaving Pey'j to knock it off you. Back away and take a picture of the Crochax (CROCHAX VELOX), then attack with your staff. They are dangerous, but a few staff swipes will take them down. Proceed over to the mine cart and push it towards the wall. Behind it is a gear that you can turn to lower the chute, allowing you to leap onto the cart and up the chute. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Secondary Shaft ]----------------------------------------------------------- The secondary shaft is crawling with animals. The first are some floating blue jellyfish (CYANEA URTICA) that can deliver a powerful shock. Defeat them and continue along the bridge to encounter some mutant jellies with hard shells (PELAGIA PACHYDERMIS). They can be easily destroyed by using a Super Action + staff attack combo. Wipe out all the hostile enemies, including the two Crochaxes. Make sure to snap a picture of the tube-like anemones on the wall (ALICIA SPLENDENS) as well. At the end is a pair of switches that can be used to open the door if both Jade and Pey'j stand on one. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Ancient Mine ]-------------------------------------------------------------- The duo ends up in an old workshop containing a vending machine, an MDisk Readers, and several lockers. Kick open the lockers to find a Boost, some K- Bups, and most importantly, Cutting Pliers for Pey'j. He can use the Cutting Pliers to snip through the grates you've been coming across in the mine. Walk over to the first grate and press Y to have Pey'j open it up. Squeeze through the tight space and go to the left to reach a dead end. Look down at the glowing green floor and take a picture of it. It's actually a giant sponge (SPONGUS GLUANTEUS)! Walk towards the spiral shell leaning up against the wall. Doesn't seem very important, but there's actually a creature living inside! The snail (HELIX RUPESTRIS) is very timid and only peeks out from its shell, then quickly retreats when it notices you. You won't have a lot of time to get a good picture, so stand there and wait in Photo Mode until it wiggles far enough out to get a good shot. Hopefully, you should have gotten enough animal shots to complete your third roll - doing so nets you [PEARL #7]. Return to the fork and go to the right this time to go back to the Secondary Shaft. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Secondary Shaft ]----------------------------------------------------------- You'll be attacked by some blue jellies and some shelled mutants. Clear them out and backtrack to the first portion of the Ancient Mine. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Ancient Mine ]-------------------------------------------------------------- Climb down the ramp and head over to the grate from earlier. Have Pey'j cut it down and proceed through. Purchase the [PA 1 #3] from the vending machine along with any Starkos if need be. At this point in the game, Pey'j might start complaining that he has low health and asks Jade for one of the PA 1s. You can exchange items with your partner through your inventory: open your inventory, then open your S-A-C. You can give your partner a PA 1 to increase their heart count or healing items so they can use them when their health is dwindling. It's important to focus on the health of your teammate rather than yourself all the time. You can take back items at any time by selecting their character. Jade will be able to shimmy across the ledge ahead, but Pey'j isn't quite fit for the job. Leave him behind momentarily, then climb up the ledge towards the red bulb. Even from a distance's Pey'j's Super Action will knock the red jelly out in the air. First, move the TNT mine cart along the track towards the jelly, then perform the Super Action + staff strike combo to ignite the TNT. A bridge is lowered, allowing Pey'j to join you. However, a trio of Crochaxes follow Pey'j and ambush him! Run down to his aid and fend off the beasts. Jump onto the bridge and walk into an opening in the wall that the bridge previously covered up when it was leaning up against the wall. Proceed towards a warning sign, then look into the pit beyond to spot two amoebas peeking out. They duck in and out of the pit, but take a photograph of either amoeba (AMOEBA POLYPODIA) when they are exposed. Backtrack to where the red jelly was to find another pressure switch. Use the Super Action to launch yourself onto the ledge. Drop down on the other side and hit the switch to open the door, letting Pey'j through. Save at the MDisk Reader if you wish, then have Pey'j use his pliers on the grate. Don't leave this chamber just yet. There is an electrical switch on the wall near where you dropped down that can be turned off with a swift kick. Hit the switch to turn off the lights. With the room pitch-black, a glowing worm (PLANARIA RUPESTRIS) enters the room. Before the lights come on and the worm goes back into hiding, capture it on film. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Main Shaft ]---------------------------------------------------------------- Jump across the gap to encounter some angry monsters. These Palinurus (PALINURUS RUPESTRIS) are predatory crab-like animals that take a lot of hits to be killed, but can easily be knocked off of the ledges here. To make things easier on yourself, have Pey'j use his Super Action, then smack them out into a pit while they're airborne. Eliminate the Palinuruses here and up ahead. Before you go any further, look up near the ceiling for a floating nautilus (NAUTILUS FLUOREUS) that floats around the circular chamber with its offspring. If you cannot find it, stand still and wait for it to do its lap and come to you. Turn the gear to lower a platform, then jump up to the ledge; stop by at the vendine machine if you need some health-restoring items, otherwise push the anenomes away inside the tunnel and run through. Leap across the gap to find one last anenome blocking your path. This one is latched onto the ground, so attack it and use Pey'j's Super Action to squash it. Run past the anemone (or what's left of it) and across the brown bridge to the circular platform. Pey'j points out the Pterolimaxes on the ledge to your right. Enter Photo Mode and make sure to get a shot with both the male and female in it together. Send the picture to De Castellac to complete your mission. That's the good news... ...the bad news comes right after: The Pterolimax that you just photographed isn't the real specimen. In fact, the organisms you just took a picture of were the two eyeballs of a much larger creature, and the brown bridge was its tail. The REAL Pterolimax reveals itself to Jade and Pey'j, then attacks! o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Pterolimax | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | At the start of the fight, take a picture of the DomZ Pterolimax as it | | emerges from one of the holes on the arena (PTEROLIMAX GIGANTEA). The boss | | shoots toxic green globs out at Jade if you keep your distance, although | | they are slow and easy to dodge. If you get too close and try to attack, | | the DomZ Pterolimax spins around and damages you. | | | | Since Pey'j is here to assist you, have him use the Super Action to stomp | | on the DomZ Pterolimax's head. With the beast stunned, rush over and whack | | it with your Dai-jo. After taking some abuse, the boss flies overhead as | | some blue jellies emerge from the craters. | | | | When the DomZ Pterolimax returns to one of its holes, attack again using | | the Super Action from Pey'j. When the boss flies overhead again, Crochaxes | | emerge from the holes instead. They are tougher to deal with, so make sure | | to use Starkos or K-Bups if necessary and make sure to watch over Pey'j. | | | | Attack the DomZ Pterolimax a third time using the same strategy. This | | time, the boss flies around the arena and spits out toxic gas. It moves | | slow enough so that you can run away and avoid the gas entirely. All | | subsequent attempts will have the boss use its poison gas attack. Punish | | the DomZ Pterolimax a few more times to send it packing. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o Pick up [PEARL #10] that the DomZ Pterolimax left behind. Check out the interesting cutscene that follows, and you are brought back to the mine entrance. Before you exit, go back inside the mine and enter the pipe at the first intersection. You can now cut through the grate here, revealing a pathway. Before dropping down, look across the area to a rocky ledge. A giant reddish slug (PAPILIO PILOSUS) periodically crawls along the ledge. After, drop down to the wooden platform to find [PA 1 #4] inside the vault. Now you can return to your hovercraft and leave. ============================================================================== 3.03] The City [0303] ============================================================================== ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- You are given an interesting offer from the IRIS Network after the events at the Black Isle. You now must meet with them to give them your decision. Drive over to the Main Canal. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Main Canal ]---------------------------------------------------------------- The Pedestrian District is to the left at the intersection. If you haven't checked out the hovercraft races, I highly suggest you do so. Otherwise, head off to the Pedestrian District. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- The Pedestrian District makes up the majority of the city, and there is a lot to do here. A Hillyan Army soldier is standing guard near the entrance. You can speak with him if you'd like. Go up the ramp past the building - this is the Alpha Sections Underground Headquarters, but you cannot progress through the interior. Past the headquarters is a newspaper stand, where you can buy newspaper editions for 50 Units. Make sure to take a picture of the bird-man vendor (AQUILUS SAPIENS) before you leave. The Akuda Bar is to the right of the newspaper stand, but I would suggest going straight and searching the rest of the Pedestrian District first. Most of the area down here is restricted to City-Pass holders, but you can at least visit the market. After talking to the market stand owner, you can shop for goodies. From all the pictures you have been taking, you should have a boatload of Units. Buy the [PA 1 #5] and [PEARL #14] along with any Starkos or K-Bups. Go back upstairs and into the Akuda Bar. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Akuda Bar ]----------------------------------------------------------------- First off, photograph the bartender (TAURUS SAPIENS) and talk to him to learn that Peepers is upstairs. Before finding your target, look around the bar. There are a lot of characters here and some fun activities to take part in. You can find a couple shark people (CARCHARODON SAPIENS) inside the bar, including one standing at a futuristic-looking table. Francis is the master at the disk game, and you can challenge him if you'd like. Friendly bets are available, but you must cough up 1000 Units if you want to play for his Pearl. The pellet game is pretty easy: there are three rounds in total, and the goal of the game is to knock all of your disk into the opposing side. You can shoot one disk at a time (the one with the green arrow) and you can aim and shoot with X. For beginners, you may want to focus on shooting your selected disk out of your side, but experts such as Francis are able to strategically knock multiple disks into your side. I'd suggest going for [PEARL #5] if you have a lot of cash on you. There is an MDisk Reader in the bar, so you can also save your game and reload the save file every time you lose in order to conserve Units. You can also unlock an achievement by beating Francis three times at any betting level. Go up to the second floor and open the first door to find a depressed goat man. Talk to him to receive the Alpha Sections Ticket, which you can use later in the game. The second and third rooms are locked. Walk in front of the third room and look over the balcony towards the couple sitting in the booth. Enter Photo Mode and zoom into the table to find a four- character code etched into the table. If you try to view the code from up close, the shark man covers it up with his hand. Enter this code in the door for the second room to unlock it, revealing [PEARL #6] and three Boosts. Talk to the man at the booth next to the third room. This is Peepers, and in addition to running a memory-based skill test (that you can play for Units), he is also your contact. Talk to Peepers and tell him the password to play a game. This is a basic sight test game, where there is a pink ball placed under one of three shells. Peepers will continuously rearrange the shells, and after a good 30 seconds, you must guess which shell the pink ball is under. Guess correctly, and he will give Jade the Room 03 Ticket. In the S-A-C display, use the Right Analog Stick to rotate the ticket to view the code on the front. Enter this code on the door's lock to open it. Enter the super-secret bookcase to find yourself in the IRIS Den. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ IRIS Den ]------------------------------------------------------------------ Approach the people in front of the table for a cutscene. The IRIS Network believes that the Alpha Sections is working with the DomZ in human trafficking and kidnapping charges. They believe that the Alpha Sections have been kidnapping innocent civilians and transporting them through the Nutripils Factory and to the Slaughterhouse. Their most recent contact, Double H, has gone missing at the Factory, and Jade is asked to investigate the scene. You are given a City-Pass in order to access all of the Pedestrian District. First, take a picture of the blue cat woman (FELIS SAPIENS). Pick up the MDisk "The Pearl and the Currents" near the computer and use the MDisk Reader to get caught up on the mission details. You must deliver proof of the Alpha Sections' actions, including photos of the victims and photos of the Alpha Sections soldiers without their helmets on to reveal their true identity. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Akuda Bar ]----------------------------------------------------------------- Exit the Akuda Bar and back to the Pedestrian District. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- Now with the City-Pass, you can explore the lower levels of the Pedestrian District. A few of the areas are still blocked off, but you can at least visit Ming-Tzu's Shop. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Ming-Tzu's Shop ]----------------------------------------------------------- Ming-Tzu's Shop features a lot of unique items that you should certainly check out. Make sure to take a picture of both Ming-Tzu (WALRUS SAPIENS) and the koi fish inside the fishtank (KOI KUMONRYU). You can purchase the Animal Detector and Pearl Detector here, which marks the location of new animals and Pearls on your map. It's really not essential if you are using this guide, so I would save your money. Instead, pick up the [MECA-IMPULSER #3], [PA 1 #6], [PEARL #15], and the Super-Attack Strengthened, which strengthens the power of Jade's Super-Attack (duh). During your Super- Attack, you can repeatedly press X to fire in bursts. Tell Ming-Tzu the password and he will open up a secret room for you. You can find two MDisks containing two IRIS Network newspaper issues. Also, talk to Ming-Tzu and he'll sign you up for IRIS Flash, which allows you to be messaged important updates and information. Stop by at the MDisk Reader inside the shop to view your two new MDisks: "IRIS 511" and "IRIS 512". There isn't anything else to do here, so exit. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- One more pit stop. There is an unlocked door to the left of Ming-Tzu's Shop that you can go inside. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Transit ]------------------------------------------------------------------- Kick open the locker to find a P-O-D, and do the same with the crate to collect some Materia Crystals. Push aside the two lockers to reveal a hidden hole that you can crawl through by crouching. Crouch and crawl underneath the first yellow laser trap, kick open the Materia Crystal crate, then dive roll over the next set of lasers. Continue to a large room overlooking a series of conveyor belts. Open the pair of crates and follow the pathway to the first conveyor belt. Walk along the conveyor belt and move along with it, then step off onto the platform before you are pushed into the laser trap. Drop down onto the next belt and walk in the same direction as the belt to the next platform. The third belt goes much faster and you will have to run in the opposite direction towards the platform. Once you're on the platform, fall down and kick open the crate for more Materia Crystals. You will enter the previous room, but at the very bottom and you must work your way across the numerous conveyor belts. The first two are easy enough, so follow them to the stepoff points. The third one is a bit tougher, since there are laser traps situated along the way. Time your dive rolls and crouches as you move with the belt. On the third laser-filled conveyor belt, there are two platforms you can step off onto. Pass by the first one and duck underneath a laser trap, then get onto the second one. If you get off onto the first platform and drop down, you'll end up at the start of the room. Ignore the platform right next to you as you jump down onto the belt (this one also brings you back to the beginning of the room) and continue to the other end of the belt. The conveyor belt below you is transporting large black barrels that you will have to avoid. There are platforms along the side of the belt that you can step onto to allow the barrels to pass. Wait for one to pass by, then get back onto the belt and sprint against the belt's direction. The next conveyor belt is just like the last one, but there are laser traps in addition to gigantic barrels. Get past this one and you'll end up at the final conveyor belt, which is devoid of hazards. Climb atop the crates to find [PEARL 16]. Ride the conveyor belt next to you to the building entrance. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- Okay, that wraps up all you can do here in the Pedestrian District. Proceed back to the Main Canal. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Main Canal ]---------------------------------------------------------------- Go left to head back to the southern end of Hillys. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Our main destination is the Nutripils Factory, but you must stop back at the Mammago Garage to tune-up your hovercraft in order to breach the guards. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Mammago Garage ]------------------------------------------------------------ Stop inside and pay five Pearls for the Neutralizing Cannon. Now you can hold down X to lock onto as many as three targets. With the cannon, you can now get past the Alpha Sections Filter Robot that is blocking the Factory entrance. Go back outside. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- As soon as you leave Mammago Garage, another DomZ attack will begin. Meteors will rain down from above, and there isn't much you can do about it. Ride around and wait for the attack to subside. Before you head off for the Factory, lets spend some time checking out new areas. Return to Vorax's Lair, which is behind Mammago Garage if you forgot. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Vorax's Lair ]-------------------------------------------------------------- Now that Pey'j has the Cutting Pliers, you can open the grate and search the bulk of Vorax's Lair. As soon as you enter the cave, you'll see a Crochax with a Pearl clasped in its talons fly away. Follow it into the next room, where you are ambushed by Palinuruses. An unlimited amount will jump out from their nests, and you must use one of the to knock down the bridge in front of you. Have Pey'j use a Super Action, then knock one of the Palinuruses into the bridge to push it over. If you want to stick around and fight, this is a good way to make some fast cash. Step away when you are ready and cross the bridge to the next platform. Slay the blue jellies and the mutants, then direct your attention to the red jelly and the two raised bridges. Have Pey'j knock it into the air with a Super Action, then hit it into one of the bridges. Knock both bridges down, then run across the one on the left. Use the red jelly here to push over a bridge in the distance, then head back across the bridge on the right. As you move across the path, a pair of Crochaxes will attack. Finish them off and head across the next bridge to encounter the one holding the Pearl. Kill it and grab [PEARL #12], then leave Vorax's Lair. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Instead of having to go through the city to reach the northern end of Hillys, you can destroy the Alpha Sections Filter Robot guarding over the main path near Mammago Garage. Hold X to lock onto it with your Neutralizing Cannon, then let go to fire a shot at it. Two hits will destroy it. Along the path, you should find a cave up on a beach. Take a quick detour. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Looters' Cavern 2 ]--------------------------------------------------------- Similar to the first Looters' Cavern, you will be robbed by a looter from the start. You must chase the looter through the cavern, and just like before, you must maneuver past timed gates and other obstacles. There are five gates to get through again, but the hazards between each gate are much more dangerous. Remember, you can use Boosts if you're lagging behind to help out. Once you make it safely to the end, shoot down the looter to obtain a lot of Units along with [PEARL #18]. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Continue to the northern end and switch on your compass to find the entrance to the Factory. Shoot the Alpha Sections Filter Robot out of the skies and make your way into the Nutripils Factory. ============================================================================== 3.04] Factory [0304] ============================================================================== ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Factory Entrance ]---------------------------------------------------------- Park your boat and climb up the pipes to the upper catwalk. There is a Vorax (VORAX NOCTURNUS) flying around along with two Crochaxes. Defeat the whole bunch, then turn around and look inside the alcove on the wall. There is a red spherical hologram with a barcode inside... that's one of the things the IRIS Network told you to look out for! Take a picture of the barcode and send it to the governor, who deciphers it and sends you the code. Input the code at the machine to open the door. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Elevator Room ]------------------------------------------------------------- Use Pey'j to cut open the grate and kick it open. You receive a message from the IRIS Network, who marks the probable mission destinations on your map. Snap a photo of the giant black rats running across the ground (RATTUS GIGANTEUS) and dive over the laser beams to your right. You must use the large crate in this room to your advantage, but Jade cannot make it budge by herself. Hit the switch on the wall to deactivate the lasers, allowing Pey'j through. Team up together to move the crate into the floor indentation, then push it into the electrial beam blocking your path. You can now jump over the crate to reach the other side of the electricity. You'll find signs of a Reaper near the elevator, but Jade chooses to move on. Save your game at the MDisk Reader and investigate the downed elevator to have Pey'j start working on it. In order to completely fix the elevator, you'll have to search the Factory for some key tools. There are two chambers you can enter: the Laboratory and the Electrical Room. Head to the former. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ West Wing ]----------------------------------------------------------------- Push the button next to the service elevator after Pey'j mentions it. As you hit the switch and open the elevator, a number of Alpha Sections Spider Drones pour out. Watch out for their jumping ability and finish the group out. Don't go in the elevator just yet; instead, open the door on the opposite side of the wing and enter the Laboratory. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Laboratory ]---------------------------------------------------------------- Right off the bat, an electric barrier blocks your progress. There are two large glass canisters in the room with you. Push each one on either side of the electrical beacons to divert the electricity onto the canisters, allowing you to pass through the doorway. Kick away the black rats scurrying around and take a look at the nasty cow carcass. Zoom in on the cow's snout to find a very tiny green mosquito (AEDES RAYMANIS). Push the switch at the end of the room to find [PEARL #19]. Now return to the West Wing. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ West Wing ]----------------------------------------------------------------- Go inside the service elevator and have Pey'j push the switch to close the door. You'll be momentarily separated as Jade is transported up to a higher floor. Run along the catwalk to another electric barrier, where an Alpha Sections Cyclopius Unit appears. These Cyclopious Units fire powerful laser beams at you and can take a lot of punishment. Your goal is to whack the robot with your Dai-jo staff and push it into the electric barrier, which short-circuits the bot and disarms the trap. Go through to the next room. The door behind you slams shut, trapping you inside. Inside, you'll witness a horrific sight: an imprisoned Double H! Take a picture of Double H in the DomZ pod and send it to IRIS. Next, scan the barcode on the nearby machine and send it to the governor for the code, then input the code in the machine to receive the Gyrodisk Launcher. This nifty tool can be used in Photo Mode (press the Left Bumper). Zoom with the Left Analog Stick and move with the Right Analog Stick, then press the Right Trigger to shoot a Gyrodisk. Test it out on the DomZ creature above the pod to kill it and free Double H. Like Pey'j, Double H is one of the game's available partners that can lend a hand in certain situations. Double H has the ability to ram objects, such as the metal bars on the wall here. Press Y next to the metal bars and he'll barrel right through them. Before you follow Double H, pick up [PEARL #21] inside Double H's pod. Double H will fall down below, but don't worry about him and maneuver across the pipes to the MDisk Reader on the other side. The IRIS Network emails you a message later on telling you to ignore Double H, so that's that I guess. Save, then shimmy across the ledge back to the Elevator Room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Elevator Room ]------------------------------------------------------------- Jump across to the catwalk to initiate a boss fight. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: Reaper | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Pey'j tries to help out, but is captured by the Reaper. Take a quick photo | | of the Reaper (CYCLOPEUS PALUSTRIS), then shoot it with your new Gyrodisk | | Launcher to stun the beast; the Reaper will jump to another part of the | | catwalk and hold its eye. Quickly run over and hit the boss a few times | | with your Dai-jo staff. | | | | Eventually, the Reaper leaps up onto a platform high above the arena and | | shoots out glowing green projectiles in a line. They are easy to avoid; | | just position yourself between two of them and let them fly right by you. | | The boss will cannonball back down to your level, as the camera switches | | to a bird's-eye view. Run away from the boss as he drops down and make | | sure that he doesn't land on top of you. | | | | The boss battle follows this incredibly simple formula. When the Reaper is | | on the ground, he will use a fist pound attack, and when he is in the air, | | he'll fire green projectiles followed with a cannonball slam. Immobilize | | the Reaper using your Gyrodisk Launcher, then run in and strike with your | | staff. It shouldn't take long before the Reaper loses its balance on the | | catwalk. One swift hit will send it over the edge. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o The Reaper plummets to the water below and dies, leaving behind [PEARL #22] (as well as [PEARL #17], from finishing your fifth roll of film). Since the Pearl is down there in the water, you'll have to do some backtracking in order to get it. You don't have to get it right now, but it's best to get it out of the way so that you don't forget about it later on. Return to the Factory Entrance. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Factory Entrance ]---------------------------------------------------------- Jump in your hovercraft and drive down the tunnel that leads to the Reaper's watery grave, where you can collect [PEARL #22]. You can also take a picture of the Reaper for inventory if you forgot to do so during the battle. Go back to the Elevator Room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Elevator Room ]------------------------------------------------------------- Save your game and open the door to the Electrical Closet. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Electrical Closet ]--------------------------------------------------------- The swinging electrical wires can pose a problem here, but they move fairly slowly. As long as you time your movements, you can cross the floor without getting shocked. Photograph the map posted on the wall to have it scanned to your S-A-C, and take a stop at the vending machine if you're low on Starkos or K-Bups. The switch that powers the door isn't working, so you'll need to juice it up somehow. Look above at the broken fan blade and shoot it with your Gyrodisk Launcher so the blade spins towards the electrical wire above the switch. This will power up the switch, allowing you to use the door. Walk around the giant piece of machinery to find a Triangular Key at the back end of the room. As you try and take it, an Alpha Sections Transport Unit grabs the key itself. Bait the Transport Unit towards the electric barrier on the side of the room and knock it into the electricity using a Pey'j Super Action. This destroys the robot and gives you access to [PA 1 #7]. Pick up the Triangular Key it drops to trigger the appearance of a group of Transport Units. Finish them off, then use the key on the electrical machine. With it powered down, take the two Fuses and backtrack to the Elevator Room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Elevator Room ]------------------------------------------------------------- Place one of the Fuses inside the slot next to the elevator. Step one complete; now to get the power running through the elevator. If you look above the nearby electric barrier, there is a wire dangling with no electricity flowing through it. If you hit this wire with your Gyrodisk Launcher, it'll fall into the electric barrier and generate power to the elevator. Push the switch to get it goin', then once more to lower it down. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Upper Hall ]---------------------------------------------------------------- As you arrive at the top of the elevator, Pey'j gives Jade an MDisk that he forgot to hand over earlier. The door ahead is controlled by two switches, so have Pey'j push one while you hit the other. Once you both hit the switches roughly at the same time, it opens up. DomZ Sarcophagi (SARCOPHAGUS DOMZII) are waiting on the other side of the door. It's difficult to photograph one due to the small confines of the room, but try to take a picture of one just as it appears (clear the enemies out of the room to make more appear). Continue to stand your ground until the army of DomZ stops. The large door ahead stays shut, so you'll have to climb up on the rubble by yourself and go through the ventilation shaft. Pey'j will be fine all by his lonesome... ...okay, not quite. If you have given Pey'j any Starkos, K-Bups, or most importantly, PA 1s, take them from him. He does not need them from now on, so letting him hold onto useful items will be a waste. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ X-Ray Verification ]-------------------------------------------------------- You'll be situated on a large pipe above the main chamber. If you look below, there are Alpha Sections Guards patrolling the room. Luckily, you won't have to deal with them. Instead, look off to the right at the x-ray machine down below. Wait for one of the shipping crates to pass underneath the x-ray, and take a picture of the screen when it displays a skeleton. Proof of human trafficking! Send the photo to IRIS. For now, crawl along the pipe through the tunnel. If you continue along the pipe, you'll be taken to the Loading Dock. That area is sealed off, so don't worry about it. Instead, drop down onto the lower pipe and you may notice a white rat (RATTUS ALBUS) on the other side of the metal bars. If you get too close, it will flee. Back away and wait for it to appear again, then crouch and slowly crawl forward so you don't startle it, then get a picture. Now that you have photographic evidence of the Alpha Sections' heinous crimes, go back to the Upper Hall to reunite with Pey'j. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Upper Hall ]---------------------------------------------------------------- Unfortunately, Pey'j is walloped by Alpha Sections Guards and is taken away before Jade can come to his aid. Use the large box that was knocked down in the scuffle and push it up against the door. Jump on top of the box and peer through the slot in the door. There is a switch on the other side of the door that you can hit with your Gyrodisk Launcher in order to open the door. Good thinking! Save your game at the MDisk Reader (and view the sentimental MDisk "For Jade" that Pey'j gave you). The laser trap in front of you cannot be disabled or scaled, so look for an alternate route. There's a ventilation shaft next to the MDisk Reader that you can squeeze through. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Shipping Room ]------------------------------------------------------------- You start off in some murky, claustrophobic sewers. Jump up to the first ledge to find Double H; the two of your are separated by some metal bars, but he warns you of the impending dangers ahead. This area is crawling with Alpha Sections Guards, and you must not get caught. This is the introduction to the stealth portion of the game, which you must rely heavily on for the rest of your journey through the Factory. Move through the vents past the guards until you can exit out into a room. You will find the first patrolling guards in this area. Some things to worry about when participating in stealth-based scenarios: - If you are caught, you cannot attack the Alpha Sections Guards. They use shields that prevent you from hitting them. You won't be able to hit them with your Dai-jo staff due to their shields. I believe the only way to otherwise kill an alert guard is to use your strengthened Super-Attack (must purchase at Ming-Tzu's Shop). - If you are caught, the guards will also sick a flying robot on you. Hide from the guards and the robot. Once the enemies deem the area clear, the robot will "scan" the entire vicinity with pink lasers. Make sure that none of the lasers touch you, because the lasers turn red - this is an automatic death if any red lasers touch you. - You can attack Alpha Sections Guards when they are unaware of your position by targeting the green tanks on their back with either your Gyrodisk Launcher or a kick if you're next to them. One hit will blind them, and a second hit will kill them. You can use this strategy to draw the attention of other guards, because guards will come to the aid of one in distress. For this first room, there is a single hallway with two Alpha Sections Guards that stand still with their backs turned to you. There are also two ducts you can drop into if you are caught. Since they never move and have their backs turned to you, it's easiest to crawl and silently move through the passage and to the next room. There are two guards in the second room. One stands still and looks over a balcony, while the other walks through the U-shaped room. There are also two ducts you can use for hiding. Follow the patrolling guard and crouch underneath the barrier in the middle, then slip past him when he rounds the corner. The third room is a single hallway with one patrolling guard. He moves up and down the hall, and it's hard to sneak past him. This is probably the best opportunity you have to incapacitate him, so shoot the tank on his back with your Gyrodisk Launcher, then run forward and kick it to send him flying. Even though many stealth games (such as the Metal Gear Solid series) prefer that you sneak your way through rather than silently killing everyone, you can get an achievement for killing ten Alpha Sections Guards. You will find Double H up ahead on a separate path from you, trapped on a flame-covered walkway. Shoot the switches below the walkway to turn off the flames, allowing Double H to cross. Press Y to have him hit the switch to lower the laser trap on your side, then dash through before it comes back on. Save before you leave the room. The fourth guard-filled room is easy to navigate, though it may seem tricky at first. The lone guard here never moves and is facing your direction, so you'll see him as soon as you round the corner. What you have to do is climb the ledges and walk above him, then drop down on the other side of him. From there, you can leave him be or mercilessly kill him. The fifth chamber is easy to get across if you want to sacrifice finding a PA 1. Otherwise, you'll have to do some work. The guards here rotate around and face different directions, but it's a cramped area and it can be hard to get past both unnoticed. I felt that the best plan of action is to stun the first one so that the second tries to fix his air tank. Once he's distracted, stun him as well and finish both off. Proceed to the area they were guarding to find [PA 1 #8], a Set of PODs, and some K-Bups, then exit the room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ X-Ray Verification ]-------------------------------------------------------- If you want, press the switch nearby to lower the laser traps, giving you access back to the Upper Hall. There are no walls or barriers here to crouch underneath, so getting past the guard on the other side of the conveyor belt may be tricky. Wait for a crate to be loaded onto the belt, then crouch and move alongside the box so it prevents you from being spotted. When you reach the portion of the belt where there are large gears sticking up and the belt elevates, you can step away from the box. You can take a quick detour into a storage closet, which is to the right of the x-ray machine. In fact, the rest of X-Ray Verification is blocked off. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Closet ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Kick all of the rats inside the closet and stop by at the vending machine for some goodies. Make sure to buy at least one Starkos. Walk over to the empty vault across the way and place a Starkos inside. Suddenly, small brown blobs will move in and haul the Starkos away. Quickly whip out your camera and get a shot of these small brown blobs (BLABERA GREGARIA) as they take your food away. You can shoot open the vent above you to create a shortcut leading back to the Upper Hall. In fact, if you go inside the vent back to that area, you can find two K-Bups. But you must climb the boxes on the other side of the closet to reach the next area. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Nutripils Vat ]------------------------------------------------------------- A giant Nutripils synthesizer is between you and a single Alpha Sections Guard. Walk along the right side of the vat and hit the switch on the side to turn it on, causing the guard to investigate. Double back around and sneak around the left side of the room to get past safely. There are some hairy green spiders (ARACHNIS VIRIDIS) in the next room, so make sure to capture them on film. Open the locker to find a Starkos and Pey'j's Jet-Boots. You can also find an MDisk "Surveillance Camera" next to the locker. Walk forward to encounter two Alpha Sections Cyclopius Units. Coincidentally, there are also two electric barriers in this room. You know what to do... Take the path across from the locker. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Computer Room ]------------------------------------------------------------- Take the MDisk "Hillyan Army Databank" and play it along with the MDisk from the previous room in the MDisk Reader. You can head back to the previous room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Nutripils Vat ]------------------------------------------------------------- Go through the other destroyed electric barrier. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Routing ]------------------------------------------------------------------- Pass by the locked door and maneuver around the laser traps. When you reach the bridge, press the switch to open the door and jump and/or duck underneath the set of lasers before the door closes on you. In this next room, there is a guard walking around on a ledge above you. Wait for him to turn around, then crawl underneath the ledge to the other side. Here, you can climb up to the ledge. Either sneak past or kill the guard before stepping into the blue transport beam. The second floor is a bit trickier: there are two guards that move around a small square box in the middle of the room. You must get to the opposite corner of the room to reach the exit - straight ahead are two ducts you can hide inside. As one guard passes by you and starts to move away from you towards the ducts, tail him and stay close to him. When he passes the exit, continue crouching and go through the door. Walk forward towards the guard that stands still with his back turned to you. You should be able to kill him easily, and I suggest you do so: only walk up to him when a box is moving alongside the conveyor belt to your left, because there is a guard on the other side of the belt that may witness your dastardly act. Even if he does spot you, use the ducts on the right side of the room to hide. I suggest killing him before he moves back into position. Once two out of the three total guards are out of the way, climb back up when you see a box move to the end of the conveyor belt. Grab the side of the box as a crane picks it up and places it on the opposite end of the room. The third guard may notice you, but it doesn't matter, since you're on route to the Control Room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Control Room ]-------------------------------------------------------------- Jump and duck your way across the conveyor belt to the MDisk Reader. As you shimmy around the bend, you'll spot an unmasked Alpha Sections Guard in the room above you. Unfortunately, you aren't in a particularly good spot to get a picture, so continue around the bend. Shoot the switch on the ceiling to activate a moving platform and step on it, then hit the switch once more to send it across the room; make sure to duck underneath the electric barrier! Crawl into the hole in the wall to the next room. The guard here rotates his position and always stays in front of the exit, so you have to kill him. The laser traps in the passage ahead move up and down, but stop momentarily. Either duck or dive roll to make it to the other side safely. You'll meet up with Double H again, who is still lurking around in the walls; he suggests that you take a picture of the deformed Alpha Sections Guard through the window. Send the picture to the governor to complete your mission. Continue through the Control Room to the next room. In here, the two guards are on the left and right side of the room and move back and forth together. As they walk away from you, follow them by going up the ramp and in between them both; you should reach the exit undetected just before they turn around and start going the other way. Enter the next guard-filled room: there is one guard that moves around the rectangular room. There are laser traps that you must avoid, but the guard can pass through unharmed. You can follow the guard and either crouch underneath or dive roll (no matter how close, the guard cannot hear you dive), but this can be tough, so you may want to hit him with your Gyrodisk Launcher from afar and then cross through. The room ahead contains two Alpha Sections Guards, but is big enough so that it's easy for you to move around. The one guard moves around the majority of the chamber in a circle, and the other one stands between two boxes and turns around periodically. It's pretty easy to get past both of them, and you don't even need to kill them. Crouch while moving down the ramp towards the two guards and then go behind the box closest to the laser gate. Wait for the stationary guard to turn around and walk past him. There is a vault in the corner that contains the Square Key, but make sure that the guard that walks around is nowhere near you before you open it. Use the key on the gate and quickly exit. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Routing ]------------------------------------------------------------------- You will be at the entrance to Routing - now that you have the Square Key, you can use it on the locked door here. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ X-Ray Verification ]-------------------------------------------------------- Save your progress and walk towards the laser gate. Use the Square Key to disable it and creep towards the guard with his back towards you. Deal with him, then look to the right to find a red barcode. Scan it and send the picture to the governor to receive a code that you can use to open the door here. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Loading Dock ]-------------------------------------------------------------- Head to the center of the room and take out your camera. Look around the room a bit to trigger a cutscene and a boss. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Robot | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | The DomZ monster uses some sort of alien power to construct a living | | creature based on random pieces of machinery. Fortunately, this boss only | | has two attacks and neither are particularly dangerous. When you see it | | begin to charge up, start to run around the boss as it fires a laser beam | | at you. Sometimes the DomZ Robot also shoots out a homing projectile, but | | it eventually dies out if you run away long enough. | | | | Start by hitting one of the DomZ Robot's legs with your Dai-jo staff, and | | Double H will finally show up. Just like Pey'j, he can be used as a | | teammate to attack and use various abilities. | | | | Press Y to have Double H use his Super Action, which is a head charge. He | | will ram one of the boss's legs, causing it to become unbalanced. Now hit | | the boss's other leg to knock its feet right out from under it. The caged | | center will open up, revealing the boss's Pearl eyeball. Stand on either | | side of the open cage and fire a Gyrodisk at it. The cage seals back up | | and the DomZ Robot stands back up, but now you know how to weaken it. | | | | The DomZ Robot still uses the same two attacks, so you are never in any | | real danger during this boss battle. Continue exploiting Double H's tough | | head charge attack and topple the boss, then attack its weak point with | | your Gyrodisk Launcher. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o Unfortunately, you're still too late, and Pey'j is transported to the Slaughterhouse. Collect [PEARL #20] and proceed through the opening that the boss created for you. Pick up [PA 1 #9] in the hallway (you may want to give one or two to Double H), save your game, then call for the elevator. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ West Wing ]----------------------------------------------------------------- Open the door and drop down from the walkway to the ground level. Okay, you should know where we are now. Proceed to the Elevator Room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Elevator Room ]------------------------------------------------------------- Start your way back to the Factory Entrance. Along the way, you'll have a quick scene with Double H. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Factory Entrance ]---------------------------------------------------------- The entrance to the Factory is sealed shut for whatever reason. Take down the enemies, then have Double H use his head charge on the metal bars across the bridge. Place the second Fuse you got all the way back in the Electrical Closet inside the fuse box to open the entrance again. However, Double H falls ill to a DomZ infection, and you must hightail it back to the IRIS HQ back in the Akuda Bar in four and a half minutes! You know how to get there, so I don't have to explain it to you in great detail. Enter the Main Canal, then to the Pedestrian District, then head to Akuda Bar. From there, step into the secret bookcase in the third room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ IRIS Den ]------------------------------------------------------------------ Double H is given an antidote and should be just fine. You are also given your next mission at the Slaughterhouse. As an added bonus, the people of Hillys have rallied behind you and have shown their support by giving you a boatload of Pearls! Enter the hidden room to find [PEARL #23], [PEARL #24], [PEARL #25], [PEARL #26], and [PEARL #27]. Leave Double H behind at the IRIS Den and return to the Pedestrian District (though Double H ends up being at your side anyways). You have a bit of side- tracking to do... ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- There is a door across from the Akuda Bar that can be accessed using the Triangular Key. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Alpha Sections Und. Quarters ]---------------------------------------------- Kick open the crate for some Materia Crystals and have Double H help push aside the giant crate to reveal a hidden entrance. The hole is big enough for only Jade to slip through, so you will have to go alone. Crawl under the laser trap and hang down on the edge while looking below. There is a laser grid on the platform below you; wait for it to disappear before dropping down. In this area, you must descend the shaft while avoiding the laser traps along the way. The second platform has two laser beams: one moves horizontally and the other vertically. Wait until you get a gap between the lasers, then fall down and step off. The next one is tricky: the lasers here rotate around the room, but you can hide from them by ducking behind barriers. You must also duck underneath blue laser traps as you avoid the spinning ones. Once you make it to the other side, drop down. Here, you'll have to shimmy across a narrow ledge; wait for the lasers to disappear before crossing the ledge. The floor below also features a narrow ledge and lasers that periodically disappear. However, when you step onto that ledge and start to go forward, a laser beam appears behind you and follows you. Try to get the timing down of the laser traps and you should be fine. The final floor is the easiest: fall down onto the walkways and dive over the lasers as they move towards you. Once you reach the bottom floor, look through the glass floor at the Alpha Sections Guards and the turrets below. Duck into the opening against the wall and drop down to the ground level. The floor is split up into four quadrants and are divided up by laser traps. There are two guards that move around the room in a circle, and the laser traps disappear as they approach one, allowing you to follow suit. These guards do not have air tanks on their back, so you cannot kill them. In addition, the turrets floating above can fire deadly lasers at you, so being spotted will automatically lead to your death. Hide behind the barrier and wait for a guard to move to the left. Follow him through the disabled laser and stick alongside him as he moves in a circle. If you stay close enough to the guard, the second one should not notice you. When you reach the northeast corner (assuming that you started in the southeast corner), jump into the ventilation shaft and continue to the next room. There is an opening not to far to your right. Look through, but do not drop down. Shoot the switch on the wall with your Gyrodisk Launcher to disable the laser trap on the floor below you, then move through the vent towards a green window. The hole in the window allows you to target a second switch, turning off another set of lasers. Return to the opening and drop down, then retrieve [PEARL #67], [PEARL #68], and [PEARL #69]. Enter the next room using the Square Key. There are lasers near the top of the room, forcing you to crouch under them. A single guard patrols the room, though he can be killed (I suggest you do so). Move to the other end of the room and push the switch to open a door. Quickly go through the other side before it closes on you. Crouch and move down the hallway and behind one of the crates on the elevator. Now you will have to get out of the Underground Quarters by taking the elevator and riding it to the top. As it slowly moves up, you will pass by guards inside tiny alcoves. You must hide from them using the crates or else the turrets at the top of the elevator shaft will annihilate you. Follow the shadows on the crates in order to determine where the next guard will be. One guard will get on the elevator with you, but he won't snoop around. Once the elevator stops and the guard gets off, follow him until he passes through a laser trap, then climb up into the vent. Knock the grate out of the vent and drop down into a room with Double H (don't know how he got here...). Pick up the two K-Bups, turn off the lasers, then leave. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- Go down to the lower level of the Pedestrian District and stop by at the market. There should be another Pearl for sale, so pick up [PEARL #46] for 3000 Units. Behind the market stand is a door that can be opened with the Square Key. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Shed ]---------------------------------------------------------------------- Assuming you talked to the goat man inside the Akuda Bar, you should have the Alpha Sections Ticket. View the ticket through your S-A-C in your inventory and input the code in the vault to obtain [PEARL #13]. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- Proceed to Ming-Tzu's Shop for some light shopping. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Ming-Tzu's Shop ]----------------------------------------------------------- Assuming you bought the first Pearl during our initial visit, Ming-Tzu should have another one for sale. For 3999 Units, you can pick up [PEARL #47]. If you tell him the password again, you can return to the secret storeroom to find the MDisk "IRIS 513". Check it out at the MDisk Reader here - it's cool to see your own hard work published! ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- There is one final location here that we can explore now that Double H is on our side. Back near the entrance to the Pedestrian District, there should be a metal gate blocking one of the buildings. Have Double H knock it down using one of his signature head charges, then step inside. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Alpha Sections Warehouse ]-------------------------------------------------- Double H cannot go with you, so step into the elevator and have him send you down into the warehouse. The first room is easy enough to get past. There are three large boxes that you can take cover behind while a single guard has his back turned, then occasionally turns around to look at you. Every time he isn't looking, advance to the next box until you are right next to the guard. Sneak by or deliver the killshot and continue onward. The next room is similar to the first one, but there are Alpha Sections Surveillance Modules floating between the crates. Avoid their spotlights or else you will be spotted and the turret here will send you on your way. When you get close enough, kill the guard and proceed to the next room. There is a green arrow switch on the floor near the start that you must step on. Doing so causes the door in front of you to slowly close. Run up the ramp and go across the ledge, ducking underneath the spinning laser when it comes near you, then dive underneath the door before it slams on your face. On the other side, smash all the Materia Crystal crates and snag [PEARL #42]. The room here is identical to the last, but the room is much larger and there are two spinning lasers that you must contend with. [PEARL #43] and [PEARL #44] are waiting for you on the other side. Ride the elevator up to the surface. You're out of the woods, right? Not quite. Disable the lasers using the Square Key and step into the alley. Behind you, a door opens up and an Alpha Sections Guard and a turret step out. Yikes! As they begin chasing you, run down the alley and avoid the hazards, such as Alpha Sections Surveillance Modules and laser traps. More guards will appear to pursue you along the way. Go around the corner and rush past two more guards and continue along the set path, avoiding the explosions and other nasty dangers. You will eventually reach a dead end, but you can climb atop the crates to escape. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- Alright, you're done here. Exit the city and drive your hovercraft over to Mammago Garage. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Mammago Garage ]------------------------------------------------------------ Pick up the Jump Kit for 15 Pearls, which gives your hovercraft jumping abilities. You can press A to jump while maneuvering the hovercraft. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- You can use the Jump Kit to access a lot of areas in Hillys. First off, go back to the Main Canal. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Main Canal ]---------------------------------------------------------------- Jump over the median and cross into the other lane, then look along the left side to find some laser traps. Jump over the laser trap and move around the back alleys of the Main Canal to ultimately reach a dead end. Blow up the crate to find [PEARL #65]. Go back to the south end of Hillys. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Go through the main path, past Looters' Cavern 2, and towards Black Isle. There should be a door you can enter at the end of the road, on the left side. Head inside. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Alpha Sections Und. Quarters ]---------------------------------------------- This is obviously another section of the Alpha Sections Underground Quarters. Jump onto the dock and photograph the pink slugs on the floor (MACROPODIA OMNIVORA) before kicking 'em into oblivion. Move up the dock and use the Square Key on the door lock. In the next room, a Pearl-wielding Crochax flies away deep into the chamber. Run forward and attack the Transport Unit by knocking it into the electric barriers. Hit the switch for another one to drop down the chute and let it suffer the same fate. Go to the right and send the Cyclopius Unit into the electric barrier, then open up the vault for [MECA-IMPULSER #4] and two Boosts. There's another chute that you can use to call forth a Transport Unit. Knock the robot into the electric barrier and go forward to find another barrier and a Cyclopius Unit. Once all the enemies bite the dust, there are still two more electric barriers. Use the chutes twice more and destroy them with two more Transport Units. Defeat not one, but three Pearl Crochaxes past the final electric barrier. Pick up [PEARL #39], [PEARL #40], and [PEARL #41] before leaving. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Proceed past Black Isle and jump over the laser barrier at the northern end. You may have noticed it several times before, but a magnificent red whale (MEGAPTERA PURPUREA) resides on the other side of the lasers and will jump out of the water from time to time. Take a picture when it leaps into the air, then jump back across the barrier and go to the southern end of Hillys. You have a lot more free space on the southern end, so hop over the barrier and go to town. To the right of your home, on the other side of the laser barrier, is a flying red manta ray (MANTA MAGNIFICENS). Further out in the ocean is another whale, though this one is blue (MEGAPTERA BOREALIS). With the sixth roll of film finished, you receive [PEARL #28]. In order to reach the Slaughterhouse and continue your mission, you must participate in the Slaughterhouse races, which is past the laser barrier here and to the left. I suggest that you still do some exploring and check out the two final Looters' Caverns if you haven't already. Looters' Cavern 3 is to the left of the lighthouse, just on the other side of the laser barrier. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Looters' Cavern 3 ]--------------------------------------------------------- This Looters' Cavern puts your jumping skills to the test, now that you have the Jump Kit. It still follows the same flow as the previous two challenges, but this time there will be laser traps and other hazards that you must jump over while you try to beat the timed gates. Blast the looter at the end to receive [PEARL #49] as a reward. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Looters' Cavern 4 is right near the blue whale, on the small island. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Looters' Cavern 4 ]--------------------------------------------------------- Similar to Looters' Cavern 3, this one features a lot of obstacles that put your Jump Kit to the test. It's the same premise as the previous three, so you should know what to expect (to a certain degree). Make it through and deal with the looter, and [PEARL #51] will be yours. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- In order to participate in the Slaughterhouse races, you must have placed at least in the top four in Races 1 and 2 back in the Main Canal (though I suggest getting in first place so you get the Pearls). If you haven't played those races yet, do it now. Otherwise, turn on your compass and search for the Slaughterhouse races, which aren't too far from Looters' Cavern 3. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Races 3 and 4 ]------------------------------------------------------------- Even though Race 3 contains a secret passage that leads you into the Slaughterhouse entrance, it's best to finish both races in first place to earn the Pearls. They are naturally more difficult than Races 1 and 2, but it's nothing that you cannot handle. Come in first place in Race 3 and 4 for [PEARL 71] and [PEARL #72]. Remember that you can use Boosts during races. Once you are ready to go to the Slaughterhouse, enter Race 3 once more. The hidden passage is directly after the second speed boost. Don't hit the boost and instead face the wall to the left. You should spot some red laser traps that you can jump over. It requires a bit of a running start, so go forward, then turn around and make the jump after a considerable amount of speed. ============================================================================== 3.05] Slaughterhouse [0305] ============================================================================== ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Slaughterhouse Road ]------------------------------------------------------- As you move down the road on your hovercraft, the Alpha Sections Giant Spiderbot will attack you from up ahead. Shoot the crates for Boosts and Materia Crystals while avoiding the laser beams, fireballs, and other nasty projectiles that come your way. In order to make the final jump, you must use a Boost. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Slaughterhouse Quarter ]---------------------------------------------------- There is an Alpha Sections Detection Drone floating above the water. If you go underneath its searchlight, it will drop a homing torpedo into the water. You must use these torpedos to your advantage: wait for one to tail you, then veer off at the last moment and it should lose course. You can use this method to destroy the metal boxes and the Defense Mine blocking the entrance to a tunnel. Before you leave, make sure to get a picture of the long water snake (ANGUILLA BIFIDA) skating along the surface. There are two more Defense Mines down the tunnel; the second one you don't have to destroy, but any torpedo that comes down this way will likely hit it. The third mine blocks the exit. Go to the end of the tunnel and jump over the ramp to get back to the Torpedo Launcher, then bait one of the torpedos to following you so you can use it to clear a path. There is a smaller mine up ahead that's in your way, so get behind the metal box floating in the water and push it into the mine to blow 'em both up. Dock your hovercraft and check out the vending machine down on the dock. Save up ahead and walk towards the entrance to make a wave of DomZ Sarcophagi appear. Once they're taken care of, squeeze in the opening between the two gate doors and push them into the wall. Get back in your hovercraft, jump up to the gate and speed through. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Exterior Moats ]------------------------------------------------------------ The tunnel here is filled with spinning laser buoys, so they can be a pain to get past unscathed. Just take your time and jump over the low ones while ignoring the high ones. Head down the hall and let the giant fan blade push your hovercraft forward, but put on the brakes before you hit the patch of small Defense Mines. Weave through the mines and start moving up the ramp, then put on the boost so you can push against the air current of the fan blade at the top. There are fan blades on the upper balcony that will push you back down below if you aren't careful, but there are also Defense Mines that prevent you from simply boosting to the other side. You'll have to be fast, but also careful of your footing. When you get to the other end of the balcony, position between the two fans and boost through the open doorway. The exit is blocked by two Defense Mines, and you must destroy them using two metal boxes. One of them is right next to you, so push it into the mine to get it out of the way. Go down one of the two tunnels at the end of the room and follow it to a trio of doorways. The left and right ones lead to a dead end, so take the center path up a ramp, leading to the second box. Push it off the ledge and use it to get rid of the second mine. You can jump over the two small mines at the end. There is also a tunnel in this chamber that leads back to Races 3 and 4. Take it, then knock down the gate at the end to create a very nice shortcut. Return to the previous chamber and jump over the mines to the next area. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Slaughterhouse Entrance ]--------------------------------------------------- Park your hovercraft and get off onto the small platform. Look off to the left on the pile of junk in the corner at the Trilobite creature slithering around (TRILOBITES SALTANS). This spot may seem confusing since there's nowhere to go and a huge gate is blocking your way, but look above your hovercraft at the open window to spot a switch. Hit it with a Gyrodisk to open the gate; get back in your hovercraft and continue through. IRIS will update your map with the location of your three mission objectives. Turn around and snap a shot of the red barcode on the other side of the gate and send it to the governor. You won't get the code yet since your mission is complete, but it's good to get it out of the way. Now you can take off. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Surveillance Room ]--------------------------------------------------------- Dock the hovercraft and jump onto the pipe. You'll be able to shimmy across the narrow parts of the pipe, so go on ahead without Double H. Jump up to the ledge as an Alpha Sections Surveillance Robot spots you. Unlike the Surveillance Modules, Surveillance Robots have a cannon on their arm and are propelled by two air tanks. Fighting a Surveillance Robot is tricky, since you have to constantly switch in and out of Photo Mode. Dodge the projectiles it shoots at you, then enter Photo Mode and fire a Gyrodisk at one of the tanks on its head. Two hits will destroy a tank, and the Surveillance Robot will fall once both tanks are no more. Crawl under the laser turrets to the MDisk Reader on the other side of the room. The switch next to the MDisk Reader opens the gate below, but it will close before you can reach your hovercraft. Cross to the other side of the room and shoot the switch with your Gyrodisk Launcher (wait for the gear to position itself so you can view the switch); you can easily get back to the hovercraft and cross the gate from here. Go forward and make a right to find a ramp you can lower so you can cross back and forth either side without having to tinker around with the gate switch. Don't go any further; dock on the other side of the gate so Double H can join you at the top of the Surveillance Room. There are three separate paths you can take in the Slaughterhouse to find all three mission objectives. It doesn't matter which way you go, but the first path is here, so I suggest you get it out of the way here. --- Climb back up the pipe on the other side of the gate to reach the MDisk Reader again. Check out the vending machine if interested, but otherwise stay on this side of the room. Walk towards the pipes to the left of the MDisk Reader and you will be able to climb on top. Walk across the pipes and drop down to the top of the switch, then leap onto the gate in the water. From here, have Double H hit the switch below to raise the gate with you on it. Run to the other end of the gate and through the opening. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Ventilation ]--------------------------------------------------------------- Walk along the pipe and knock the rats off. Use your Gyrodisk Launcher to hit the switch on the wall, which turns off the fire in the background. With the flames subsided, look in the corner of the room and take a picture of the red blob (IGNIS IGNIFERA) clinging to the back wall. There's nothing else to do here, so go back to the previous room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Surveillance Room ]--------------------------------------------------------- Have Double H press the switch to raise the gate up, then drop down onto the gate and run to the opposite end (back where Double H is). Jump onto the platform that comes into view. Step down onto the pipe and climb through the circular window. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Trolley Entrance ]---------------------------------------------------------- Drop down onto the floor and deal with the Cyclopius Unit down below. This one has a shield, so it's harder to attack; wait for it to fire a laser beam, then dodge and strike when the shield is lowered. Slam the Cyclopius Unit into the electric barrier. Don't worry about the metal bars for now and go past the barrier. Open the vault for [MECA-IMPULSER #5] and a Set of PODS. Climb into the vents to reach the next room and take the doorway to end up at the Surveillance Room. Get Double H to come with you and head back through the door, then use him to push the giant crate below the vent. Now both of you can get up to the vent and return to the room where you battled the Cyclopius Unit. Use Double H to knock down the metal bars, which startles a pair of Alpha Sections Guards. Normally, these guys are near-impossible to fight head-on, but you can use Double H to distract the guards while you flank them and target the air tanks. You can also use Double H's Super Action to take down the guards. Up ahead, you may notice some blue bubbles rising from the ground. Shoot a Gyrodisk at the bubbles to make a tiny blue creature (TIMOREA SAPONIFERA) scurry to the other side of the room. Every time you scare the creature with a Gyrodisk, it will hop off to another secluded corner. You must capture the animal on film as it's out in the open, so keep firing at it with Gyrodisks until you get a good shot. Press the switch to call the trolley, which takes you to the next room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Central Hall ]-------------------------------------------------------------- Raid the vending machine for some sweets and check out the garbage bailer up against the wall. Hitting the switch on the machinery causes a glowing green amoeba to jump out of the bailer, but you won't have enough time to whip out your camera before it falls back inside. Let Double H press the switch and quickly take a photograph the green amoeba (AMOEBA SALTANS). There are three electric barriers in the next room, so you can expect enemies here. Three Transport Units drop from the ceiling. Use each one to destroy the electric barrier (one barrier is behind another), so make sure not to kill any Transport Units without knocking them into the barrier. Pick up a Triangular Key (another one) that is left behind. If you destroyed all three electric barriers, take [PEARL #52]. If you accidentally destroyed the enemies without disabling all three barriers, you can make more appear by using your Square Key on the switch. Save your game here, then approach the locked door. There are two triangular switches, so I guess having a second Triangular Key comes in handy. Open your inventory and give your partner one of the keys. Have Double H use one Triangular Key while you use the other to activate both locks and open the door. The next hallway is filled to the brim with lasers. You cannot get past, but Double H's armor allows him to pass through lasers unharmed (just like the Alpha Sections Guards). Have him walk through the laser traps and press the switch on the wall. Get across while the lasers are temporarily disarmed, then do the same at the next trap 'round the next two corners. On the other side, you'll find two guards looking out a window. Eliminate them both and open the lockers to find two P-O-Ds and two Boosts. One of your three photo objectives is on the other side of the window, so look out with your camera in hand at the people being loaded into the spaceship. Take a picture of the horrific sight. --- There are more pieces of evidence that you must document here inside the Slaughterhouse, so you still have a lot of work to do. Backtrack to the Surveillance Room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Surveillance Room ]--------------------------------------------------------- Return to your hovercraft, which should be on the opposite side of the gate from where you initially began your journey) and take off. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Interior Moats ]------------------------------------------------------------ Go either left or right and jump over the half wall to reach the main area. There is a rocky ramp near the half wall; boost up the ramp and dock your ship. Head down the hall. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ North Wing ]---------------------------------------------------------------- The path splits up, with Double H going one way and Jade going the other. You cannot pass through the laser barrier on the right, so instead go to the left and squeeze between the pipes. Make a left and up the ramp into the first room. Back to stealth tactics here, so you will be spending a lot of time sneaking your way around guards. You are presented with a large pit in front of you, with a couple electrical wires strung across. On the other side is a single guard standing on a platform. Hit the switch across the pit with a Gyrodisk to activate the platform, killing the guard as he hits the wires. Step onto the platform and avoid the electricity yourself as you cross to the other side. The next room is interesting and fun to sneak across. For starters, the turrets here kill you on sight if you are spotted by a guard. There are four guards in total that stand still on raised islands and rotate around. In order to get past them, you must stay crouched and proceed through the smoke-covered floor to dip out of sight. There are a few raised portions that you must crawl over, so make sure that no guard is facing your direction when you come out of hiding. Just make sure that when you reach the end of the hall, look behind you and wait for the guard on the central island to turn around, because it would suck to get caught at the very end of the room. The elevator in the next room is outta juice, and you will need to find a Fuse in order to power it up. Go to the right and kick the power box to turn off the lights. Quickly maneuver through the laser-filled passage and grab the Fuse off of the wall before the lights come back on and the item becomes unobtainable. Place the Fuse in the slot next to the elevator and take a ride. At the top of the elevator, step outside to be confronted by a pair of shielded Alpha Sections Cylopius Units. Dodge their laser and push them into the two electric barriers when their shield drops to gain access to a vault containing K-Bups and a Starkos and the exit. Avoid the exit for now. Step onto the walkway and crawl through the small opening to another chamber containing Alpha Sections Guards. Two guards face a conveyor belt on the other side of the room, and the walkway is littered with mines. In addition, an Alpha Sections Surveillance Module patrols the catwalk. Wait for the Surveillance Module to move to the left of you, then get onto the catwalk and start moving to the right before the robot bounces off the wall and heads back your way. Continue to the end of the catwalk (you don't even have to crouch; simply stay quiet and avoid the mines and the guards won't hear anything despite being inches away). At the end of the walkway, crawl into the duct to find a Boost and [PA 1 #10]. Return to the last room. Go through one of the destroyed electric barriers to reach the next section of the area. At the fork, briefly go to the left to find a Pearl and a vault behind a menacing laser barrier. You'll get to the other side shortly. Proceed to the right instead and avoid the mines along the walkway. This next room is filled to the brim with guards, and their movement patterns are tricky to predict. In addition, the presence of floating turrets mean that you will die if you are caught, so there is no running or hiding here. The first guard is right next to your starting location and stares at the wall the entire time like an imbecile. Nothin' to worry about with him. The second guard moves up and down the passage past the first guard. The third guard is at the north end of the room (assume you're at the south end) and moves right to left. The fourth guard stands still near the third guard's path and constantly looks south. Wait for the second guard to start moving away from you and immediately tail him while crouched. Once he reaches the back end, the third guard should have his back turned to the right. With both of the moving guards looking away, you should be able to sneak in front of the guard and into the small hole in the wall. You may startle a guard, but he should not see you. You can collect [PEARL #70] and a Starkos. Instead of going back inside the room, deactivate the laser beams and go through back to the fork. Proceed back to the entrance to the room and start back over. Repeat the same process as before by pursuing the second guard as he moves north. The third guard should have his back to you and will begin walking to the right. Start following him and continue to the eastern end, where you can exit. First off, go forward through the door here and hit the switch to open another door... this brings you back to the laser barrier and the fork, so you can use this as a shortcut to navigate between rooms without having to go past the guards. Head back through the doorway and walk down the side path to find an MDisk Reader. Save your game and scan the area. Down the hall is an elevator blocked by an electric barrier. Next to the MDisk Reader is a box you can push aside, revealing a crawl space. Also, there's a fuse box on the wall here. Kick the fuse box to shut off the electrical power, then crawl through the hole. On the other side, avoid the mines and lasers while you take the Fuse before the power comes back on. This disables the electric barrier in front of the triangle switch. Ride the elevator to the lower levels. A single guard stands still at the top of the ramp, overlooking your area from above. There are two exits here: one at the bottom of the ramp nowhere near the guard and one right behind the guard. You'll want to take the more perilous exit, so the only way to easily get past the guard is to kill him. Get his attention and have him run down the ramp, then scatter. Once he starts to return to his position, shoot his air tank. With the guard gone, you can freely move throughout the room. Continue up the ramp and through the door to find several Materia Crystal crates, along with a Boost and [PA #11] inside a vault. Exit the room and take the door at the bottom of the ramp. Duck into the crawl space and go through. A guard paces across a walkway, moving onto a platform at the left end of the room. When he steps onto the platform, shoot a Gyrodisk at the switch against the wall to move the platform through the electric barrier, killing the guard. Use the platform to cross over to where the guard was and leave. There are four guards in this next room: two move in a circle around the blocks you can hide behind, while the other two are at the far end of the room, who continuously spin around. Follow the guys in a circle until you reach the opposite end; if you have trouble, it may be easier to kill at least one of the guards. At the other end, place the Fuse in the slot to open the door (albeit slightly): crawl underneath to reach the entrance to the North Wing... Double H is still standing on the other side of the laser gate like a buffoon. Press the switch to lower the lasers and reunite with your teammate. Before going down the hall, save your progress at the MDisk Reader. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Central Hall ]-------------------------------------------------------------- There are three guards here that have their backs turned to you, but you can wipe them all out now that Double H is at your side. Stand where the two guards were and peer out the window. Enter Photo Mode and zoom in on the conveyor belt in the distance, then snap a photo of one of the storage bins with a civilian inside. --- Two down, one to go. With the picture taken, return to the Interior Moats. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Interior Moats ]------------------------------------------------------------ Slide down the ramp and drive to the back of the moats using either the left or right path. Along both sides, an Alpha Sections Detection Drone looms overhead. Fly underneath their spotlight to release some torpedos and drive to the back of the area, where you can find two Defense Mines blocking a passage. Wiggle around a bit and cause the torpedos to blow up the mines. There are smaller mines inside the tunnel that can be a pain. New mines appear every time you destroy one, so shooting them all down is not the answer. Go very slow and weave your way through the mines to the dock. Dock your hovercraft and stock up at the vending machine before taking the exit. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ East Wing ]----------------------------------------------------------------- The East Wing is similar to the North Wing in that the two of you will be split up very early and you must use your stealth techniques to navigate through the entirety of the region. Use Double H's Super Action to destroy the metal bars, which also harms a guard in the process. Finish off the guard when you enter the room. Save at the MDisk Reader (kick the Fuse box to turn off the electric barrier first), then search the left side of the room to find a vent at the top of a ledge you can explore. Double H will follow you in parallel. Knock down the grate on the other side of the vent and step down. There is one guard in the room here that stands in front of the exit switch. Execute him first, then flip the switch and proceed through the open door. Grab the two Boosts from the vault and climb the stairs. As you move down the catwalk, you'll get an aerial view of the room. At the end, grab the edge of the catwalk and wait for the guard on the other end of the room to face away from you before dropping down behind the cover. Crawl to the right to find two more guards on the other half of the room. One stands in front of the exit and rotates his positioning while the other guard walks around in a circle. Use the glass canisters as cover and slowly make your way towards the exit. Once both guards face/walk to the left, slip through. You are presented with a three-way intersection here. Don't worry about going north, because it leads to an empty Fuse slot and a dead end. Go to the right first and push the box onto the elevator in the corner. Ride the elevator down to the bottom and turn off the power before taking the Fuse. Since there's no power, the elevator won't work, but you can use the box to hoist yourself up. Before bringing the Fuse to the northern branch, go left instead and ride the blue transport beam. There are two Alpha Sections Guards up ahead: one stands in the center and will spin around after a while, and the other patrols the room's perimeter. This place can be annoying, because the guard in the middle waits a long time before turning around. Wait until he cannot see you and follow the edge of the room clockwise. When you reach the end of the room, take [PEARL #48] and smash the Materia Crystal crates. Go north and avoid the lone guard here and hit the switch on the wall to end up at the Fuse slot in the northern branch. Place the Fuse inside and crawl through the opening. Walk into the middle of the room and grab onto the side of the box that is placed in front of you. Hang on as a crane picks the box up and drop off onto the other side of a conveyor belt. Duck into the sewer and out the other end to find a vault containing two Boosts and [PA 1 #12]. Go back through where you came from and hit the switch at the end to return to the middle of the crane room. Head through the door and go to the left. Kick the power box to short-circuit the electric barrier, allowing you to pass through and drop down below. Double H rejoins you here. Save and slip through the mine-covered hall to the basement. The two of your are ambushed by a rather large army of Trilobites. You took a picture of one of them on the garbage pile back in the Slaughterhouse Entrance, so you don't have to take a picture of them. If you missed the first opportunity, you certainly have a chance to do so here. These pesky creatures will jump over your head when you try to smack them, so have Double H use his Super Action to stun them first. There is an electric barrier at the top of a shaft and a power box nearby. You won't have enough time to kick the power box and climb to the top, so climb up halfway and have Double H disable the barrier for you. That reunion was short- lived; you will meet up with Double H later on. There is one final room you must get through, and it contains three guards. Two of them will face to the right the entire time, so you must obviously go to the left in order to get past them. However, the third guard is on the left and paces up and down. Follow him as he walks away from you, then duck in the shadows on your left. Wait for him to turn around and walk towards you, then step out of the darkness just as he passes you and dive roll to the exit. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Central Hall ]-------------------------------------------------------------- Save up ahead and go outside onto the bridge. A guard stands on top of a tower: wait until he turns to the side, then shoot a Gyrodisk at his air tank to make him tumble to his death. Lower the laser barrier and pass by the vending machine. Same exact deal here, with the guard on the tower, so you know what to do. There is an empty Fuse slot up ahead, and to the left is the Fuse that you must obtain. Unfortunately, it's in between two Alpha Sections Guards. I don't even think it's possible to jump over the laser, grab the Fuse, jump back over, and hide before the guards can notice you. Instead, wait for them to turn around and hit one with your Gyrodisk Launcher. When the other goes over to help out his peer, shoot him as well. Now they're both dealt with and you can take the Fuse in peace. Before you jump back across, zoom in on the DomZ Sarcophagi glass chambers and take a picture for your final photo objective. --- That should have been your third photo objective, so you can now publish your work Place the Fuse in the other slot to open up a tiny door. Go through and press the square switch to ride the platform to the entrance. You're done here in the Slaughterhouse, so it is time to pack it in. Return to your hovercraft and make it back to the Surveillance Room. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Surveillance Room ]--------------------------------------------------------- Instead of worrying about the giant gate in the middle of the area, go to the left of the gate and shoot down the metal grate to get to the other side easily. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Slaughterhouse Entrance ]--------------------------------------------------- You're stuck with another predicament, as the gate here is also closed. Dock your hovercraft and take a picture of the red barcode... when you are given the code, type it in to open the gate and head through. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Exterior Moats ]------------------------------------------------------------ Go to the left and slide down the ramp to end up back at the Slaughterhouse races. Exit the area. ============================================================================== 3.06] Final Preparations [0306] ============================================================================== ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- You must return to IRIS to get an update on your mission, but you are interrupted by a DomZ attack (haven't had one in a while). Another sea serpent drops down from the sky! o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Sea Serpent | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | The DomZ Sea Serpent is nearly identical to the first one fought early in | | the game. It flies around the surface of the water and will occasionally | | drop mines behind it. Avoid these mines and also try to dodge the meteors | | that rain down from above. It also may fly above the surface, which forces | | you to use your homing Neutralizing Cannon. The only other difference is | | the location of the fight, which means that you may have to jump over the | | laser barrier at times. Other than that, it's a very simplistic battle. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o Pick up [PEARL #50] and return to the Akuda Bar. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Akuda Bar ]----------------------------------------------------------------- If you beat Francis the first time around in the disk game, you may have recently gotten a message from him challenging you for a second Pearl. Beat him again (he's a bit harder, but the same strategies apply) to win [PEARL #45]. Afterwards, go upstairs and enter IRIS Den. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ IRIS Den ]------------------------------------------------------------------ IRIS (and the governor in person) congratulates you on your hard work and hands over the Star Key, which allows you to access the last hidden sector in the Pedestrian District. Oh, and a huge bombshell is dropped on your mind in the cutscene. Wild... Your task is to find Pey'j's ship (more information in the MDisk he gave you in the Factory) and fly it to the moon in a classic rescue mission. More Pearls were donated to you by the people, so enter the room and collect *takes deep breath* [PEARL #53], [PEARL #54], [PEARL #55], [PEARL #56], [PEARL #57], [PEARL #58], [PEARL #59], [PEARL #60], [PEARL #61], [PEARL #62], [PEARL #63], and [PEARL #64]. Now that you have the Star Key, you can explore the last regions of the Pedestrian District. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- You will notice the sheer amount of protesters in the Pedestrian District... I guess your reports are getting the job done. Go down to the fountain near Ming- Tzu's Shop and disable the laser barrier using the Star Key. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Alpha Sections HQ ]--------------------------------------------------------- Enter the elevator and let Double H push the switch. Like usual, you'll be going alone. The place is crawling with turrets, so you cannot get spotted here under any circumstances. You will have to play it safe. To begin, crawl underneath the bridge and shimmy along the pipe. The guard above you won't notice, and the one next to you looking over the balcony will stand still and should not be alerted as long as you stay pressed against the wall. When you pass the guard, climb up to the second floor and quietly move past the guard here. Follow the moving guard as he walks away from you, then duck next to the machinery on the right; wait for the guard to turn back around and pass you, then walk forward and climb up the ladder. Once on the third floor, stay hanging on the edge as you watch the movements of the guards. The left side of the floor is blocked off by lasers, but the guards will move through the lasers to the right side (where you have to walk). Wait for the first guard to turn around and start going left, then pull yourself up and crawl forward. Hide underneath the small pipes in the center of the path and wait for the second guard in front of you to move to the left before going past him. Climb onto the roof and jump across to the second area. In the second area, getting caught and dying will bring you back here rather than the entrance. Look around the corner at two guards: one stands still and only looks to the left while the other rotates up, left, and down. Wait for him to face away from you, then drop down and grab the edge of the ground they are standing on. Wait for the guard to face away from you before pulling yourself up and slipping past both. Climb onto the dumpster and pull yourself up to the ledge. There are some open windows and a guard inside that walks around. As you shimmy along the ledge past the open windows, make sure that the guard inside the room cannot see you through the window. Once you walk around the side of the building onto the balcony, wait until the guard is walking away from you before going inside. Press the switch on the wall and go through the door. Pressing the switch actually caused the guard to turn around and see me (like, fully see me... the whole "intruder, intruder!" deal), but I managed to run through the door before I was shot. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ East District ]------------------------------------------------------------- Save and take all the Pearls here: [PEARL #29], [PEARL #30], [PEARL #31], [PEARL #32], [PEARL #33], [PEARL #34], [PEARL #35], [PEARL #36], [PEARL #37], and [PEARL #38]. Go through the door and dive over the beams on the ground, then exit out onto the open as General Kehck and some Alpha Sections Guards is alerted to your presence. Like in the Alpha Sections Und. Quarters, you must run away from Kehck and the guards as they chase after you. Run towards the screen as you follow the path and move along the rooftops as you dodge their blasts in addition to the explosions and fire pits. Once you reach the end, you will escape on a floating Alpha Sections sign. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Pedestrian District ]------------------------------------------------------- It's time to find Pey'j's ship he referred to in the "For Jade" MDisk. If you have not watched it, you should probably do so now. Anyways, your journey takes you back home. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hangar ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Get out and walk up the stairs towards the blueprints posted on the wall. Press X next to the Jet-Boots blueprints to push them aside, revealing a secret computer lock. Open your inventory and select the Jet-Boots from your S- A-C. Rotate the boots using the Right Analog Stick to reveal two codes on the soles of the boots. For the computer lock here in the Hangar, input the code on the right shoe. Leave the Hangar in search for the last computer lock. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ The Lighthouse ]------------------------------------------------------------ Proceed inside the lighthouse and head up to the second floor. Go inside the bedroom on the right to find another set of blueprints pased on the wall. Investigate to find the second computer lock; type in the code on the left shoe. Well, it triggers victory music, but nothing seems to happen. Return to the Hangar. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hangar ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Go back to the other computer to find that a button has appeared. Press it to open up a secret chamber, revealing Pey'j's spacecraft! Go up to the desk and take the MDisk "Beluga Check-up", then go inside the Beluga. The ship isn't working, which is not much of a surprise considered it was stowed away without use for 20 years. You must power the Beluga up with two Flight Stabilizers to get it in tip-top shape. The first one can be found right on the desk next to the MDisk; place it inside one of the two ship reactors. The second can be bought from Mammago Garage. Head there now. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Mammago Garage ]------------------------------------------------------------ Buy the Flight Stabilizer for 20 Pearls (you should have more than enough). As you make your way back to the lighthouse, you will notice that it isn't there anymore! It has been destroyed by the DomZ, so rush back and through the Hangar to see what happened. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ The Lighthouse ]------------------------------------------------------------ The lighthouse has basically been reduced to rubble, and the orphans have been kidnapped by the DomZ. Run upstairs (you can still go up to the second floor) for a scene. The entrance to the Beluga has been closed, so you must imput the codes in the two computer locks to open it back up. A total of four Alpha Sections Surveillance Robots will attack in the front yard. Defeat them with your Gyrodisk Launcher before continuing to the Hangar. Once back in the Hangar, place the second Flight Stabilizer in the Beluga and hop inside. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- The Beluga operates in the same way as the hovercraft, so the feel of the ship should not be that alien to you. You can change your elevation with the Right Analog Stick and the Left Analog Stick points your ship up or down. To move, hold down the Right Trigger. Your flying skills are immediately put to the test against a third DomZ Sea Serpent! o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Sea Serpent | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Yet another DomZ Sea Serpent flies down and attacks, but this one is much | | more active. You must chase after the boss using the Beluga, and flying | | the ship for the first time can be a pain. As you pursue the monster, it | | shoots a cluster of fireballs at you. Avoid them and attack using your gun | | and Neutralizing Cannon. It shouldn't put up much of a fight. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o Pick up [PEARL #73] after the fight. There isn't much else to do before accessing the moon aside from collecting the remaining Pearls. There is also two more animals here in Hillys. Here are the final few things you should do before setting off for outer space. - There is a big blue manta ray (MANTA CYANEA) flying near the top of the Factory. You may have spotted it before, but you can get a much better shot in the Beluga. - Make sure to stop by at Ming-Tzu's Shop and buy [PEARL #66] for 3999 Units. You can also find the MDisk "IRIS 514" in the back storeroom. - There is a volcano at the top of Black Isle that you can go inside using the Beluga. Fly to the top of Black Isle and hover over the volcano, then press A to drop your hovercraft inside. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Volcano's Treasure ]-------------------------------------------------------- Yeah, despite this being a volcano, it's actually filled with water. Park your hovercraft and open the vault at the end of the dock for [MECA-IMPULSER #6]. Take a picture of the fluorescent anemone (AURELIA MAGNIFICENS) stuck to the wall near the tunnel. With that, you should only have one more animal slot open... it's actually found in space, do don't freak out if you are missing a spot. Use the MDisk Reader to save your game before going inside the cave. This place may remind you a lot of the mine inside Black Isle. Walk forward and jump to the ledge on your left, then shimmy across the beam to the other side of the raised bridge. Use Double H and the red jelly here to knock down the bridge, allowing your partner to cross. Head deeper into the cave to find three Pearl Crochaxes. Defeat them all to receive [PEARL #77], [PEARL #78], and [PEARL #79]. From here, you can go one of two ways. Start off by going straight. Defeat the Pearl Crochax here for [PEARL #74] and follow the path to a red jelly. Knock one into the bridge across the way, then head back to the fork. As you make your way back, two more Pearl Crochaxes attack. Squash them and grab [PEARL #75] and [PEARL #76]. Now take the right side. Knock away the anenomes and battle the four Pearl Crochaxes on the other side. Pick up [PEARL #80], [PEARL #81], [PEARL #82], and [PEARL #83] once they are out of the way. Run across the bridge that you just lowered and drop down into the arena. As expected, there are more Pearl Crochaxes to kill. Dispatch the entire group and round up [PEARL #84], [PEARL #85], [PEARL #86], [PEARL #87], and [PEARL #88]. That should be every last Pearl in the game! As a reward, you are given the MDisk "Pearl Game". It's a pretty wacky game where there are two Pearls on the left and right side of the screen. Use the Left Analog Stick to move the left Pearl back and forth and the Right Analog Stick to move the right Pearl. You must simultaneously move the Pearls and avoid the walls that appear ahead. It is pretty challenging, but fun. Leave the volcano when you are ready. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Hillys ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- There should be nothing else to do. You should have all 88 Pearls, 12 out of 13 PA 1s, all six Meca-Impulsers, and all but one animal captured on film. Fly inside the top of Mammago Garage with the Beluga and fork over 30 Pearls for the Flight Stabilizer. Once outside, fly towards the sky and when the button prompt appears, press B to activate the Stellar Motor. ============================================================================== 3.07] The Moon [0307] ============================================================================== Your trip through outer space is beautiful and rather short, but it doesn't mean you can kick back and relax - you have work to do. The final animal can be found in space. As soon as you appear in space, a giant ice block will float past you. Speed after it and fire away to chip away at the ice. Finally, the ice will break, freeing a colossal purple space whale (MEGAPTERA ANAEROBIA). That is the final animal, and filling up your seventh roll of film means that you are given the MDisk "Animal Species": this MDisk allows you to look back at all the pictures you have taken and submitted. With that out of the way, fly towards the moon. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Selene ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- The lunar base on Selene is surrounded by a force field, so instead fly up towards the transmitter at the top of the base. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Transmitter Entrance ]------------------------------------------------------ As you land, IRIS gives you the location of your mission objectives. You can take a picture of the map posted near the vending machine to download it to your S-A-C. Also stop by at the vending machine for some restoration items as well as [PA 1 #13]. Save at the MDisk Reader, then go towards the elevator behind where you parked your ship. Have both Jade and Double H stand on the circular buttons to activate it. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ DomZ Base ]----------------------------------------------------------------- Interesting scenery. Very... green. There is a beam of light shining above you. Follow the light towards a pillar with a mirror on the top. To the left of the pedestal is a Mirror on a table that you can take. In the southeast corner of the room is a pillar you can put the Mirror on. Move over to the first pillar and press X to rotate it so the light hits the other one. First, rearrange the two pillars so that the beam of light hits the purple crystal back near the elevator. You should be able to see it in the corner of the screen when rotating the second pillar. Run down there and take the Mirror, then return to the pillar. Move the pillar so the light hits the purple crystal across from you, which opens up a new path. In the next room, walk forward and place the Mirror on the pillar here. Use this third pillar to open the room on the side, which only contains some Materia Crystal deposits. After, rotate so that the beam of light shoots down the hall and hits a column. The crystals on top of the three columns in the next room can be spun around by hitting the extensions with your Gyrodisk Launcher. Here's a crude adaptation of the room's layout: / / .-----' '----. | 1 | You start off on the left side of the room, and the ---' | exit is at the north end. The light should be shining 2 | on Column 1. Rotate the crystal on the top of Column 1 ---. | so it hits Column 2. Spin Column 2 so the light lands | 3 | on Column 3, then spin Column 3 so the light shines '---------------' down the passage that leads to the next area. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Cloister ]------------------------------------------------------------------ Run down the seemingly endless bridge into the chamber, where Pey'j is being held captive. You must use the beam of light and the many pillars/crystals to lower the three gates that are surrounding Pey'j. It looks complicated and it may seem that some sort of diagram is warranted, but it's actually very easy. Use the first pillar to guide the beam of light clockwise around the outer ring. Continue all the way around until the crystals on the outer perimeter are lit, which lowers the gate. From here, simply move the first pillar to the right a bit which creates a chain reaction that lowers the middle gate. Now move the same pillar to the right slightly more to lower the inner gate. That was surprisingly easy! Use Double H's head charge to free Pey'j from his prison. Walk forward and save your progress. The door here is closed, but there's a tiny crack which you can slip through. Split up with the group and enter the blue transport beam. Up top, go to the left to find some Materia Crystal crates. The north branch is empty, and the right path contains two Alpha Sections Guards. Note that there are three circular switches in the middle of the area... you'll be able to access this later. Sneak past the two guards or use a strengthened Super- Attack to take 'em out, then enter the transport beam here. The entrance to the green building in front of you is to the right. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ The Great Crypt ]----------------------------------------------------------- This room consists of multiple transport beams and is made up in a maze-like structure. It isn't too bad, though. - Step into the first transport beam - Go straight at the first fork - Head left at the second fork - Enter the green transport beam to the left Continue through the tunnel for a quick scene. Take a picture of the meeting between General Kehck and the DomZ Priest and publish it. Backtrack all the way back to Double H at the Cloister, then return to the DomZ Base. Cutscene time. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ DomZ Base ]----------------------------------------------------------------- Jade, Pey'j, and Double H are together at last. I love the dialogue between Double H and Pey'j. "I know how it feels, I was trapped in one of those things for 16 hours" "I was stuck inside that thing for three weeks!" Haha. Run through the DomZ Base back to the elevator. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Transmitter Entrance ]------------------------------------------------------ Save your game at the MDisk Reader. Approach the switch to the right of the Beluga and jump on top of it. Move all the way to the top of the room. Have Double H hit the switch to move a crate over towards you and jump on, then make Double H press it again so you are transported above the Beluga. Fall down onto the Beluga and look across the room towards the closed door. There is another switch to the left of the door, so use your Gyrodisk Launcher on it to make another crate move to your location. Shoot a Gyrodisk at the switch, but make sure to jump onto the box before the switch is activated; you will be dragged over to the door. Turn the crank on the opposite side of the door to lower a bridge. Now that Pey'j and Double H have joined you, have each of you step on the three switches on the ground to open up the door. A turret will automatically begin firing at you, but it's easy enough to avoid as you push forward. Pass under the turret and go inside the trolley. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Radio Transmitter Room ]---------------------------------------------------- There's an MDisk Reader and a vending machine just as you get out of the trolley. Photograph the red barcode on the transmitter and send it to the governor for the code. Input the code in the transmitter to gain control of it (thanks Secundo!). The truth about the DomZ and the Alpha Sections have now been successfully broadcasted over Hillys! General Kehck becomes aware of your shenanigans, and as a result, isn't too pleased about it. He activates a timer, so get back to the Beluga within a minute and a half to avoid an unpleasant fate. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ Selene ]-------------------------------------------------------------------- Not so fast! As the trio tries to escape back to Earth, General Kehck and his Giant Spiderbot hauls them in using a tractor beam. o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: General Kehck | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | General Kehck and his Alpha Sections Giant Spiderbot will fly through a | | canyon with you being tugged behind. This boss fight consists of several | | stages. To begin, eight blinking lights appear on the underside of the | | Giant Spiderbot: you can shoot at them, but using your Neutralizing Cannon | | is a much easier way to destroy each one. | | | | Next, General Kehck fires a large cannon out of the center of his vehicle. | | Avoid the cannon shot, then charge up a Neutralizing Cannon and lock onto | | the cannon to annihilate it. More blinking lights appear on the Spiderbot, | | and this time lasers are fired out at you. The lasers don't move, so it is | | pretty easy to avoid them. Just lock onto the blinking lights (there are | | three on each leg) with your Neutralizing Cannon. | | | | General Kehck goes back to using the central cannon as well as drop two | | mines back at you. Dodge the mines and wait for the cannon fire to subside | | before smacking it with a homing blast. | | | | The next stage of the boss battle involves more blinking lights. There are | | four, and two of the Giant Spiderbot's legs create an electric barrier. | | The Spiderbot then begins to slowly spin; you must shoot the two lights on | | each side of the electric barrier while avoiding it as General Kehck spins | | around. To avoid the barrier, dip down to the bottom of the canyon to get | | underneath the leg. | | | | The boss uses the cannon and mine strategy again, but your target is not | | the cannon. Instead, focus on the four blinking lights on the tip of the | | Giant Spiderbot's legs while simultaneously avoiding the hazards thrown at | | you. The next stage involves another electric barrier, plus a constant | | stream of lasers like the third stage. | | | | The final stage begins now. General Kehck throws everything but the | | kitchen sink at you: the central cannon, four mines, laser beams. The only | | weapon he doesn't reuse is the electric barrier. There are no blinking | | lights this time, so fire one blast at the cannon center to end this boss | | battle once and for all. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o The Giant Spiderbot crashes into a lake on the moon's surface, with the tractor beam still in tact. Drop out of the Beluga into your hovercraft and land in the water. Torpedos will chase after you, so direct their route to the Defense Mine in front of the Spiderbot. With the mine out of the way, go inside the Giant Spiderbot. Park your hovercraft and save, then proceed down the hall to find a trio of Alpha Sections Guards. Defeat them all with the help of your two friends, then ride the blue transport beam for a scene. Hit the switch to disable the tractor beam, then return outside and hop inside the Beluga. As you fly up towards the landing strip, a huge army of Alpha Sections Fighter Ships will stop you. There's a ton of them, but hold your ground and continue fighting until you receive some help. Now, fly up to the landing pad and dock your ship. Save your game one final time at the MDisk Reader, then step on the three buttons to descent into the Great Crypt. ______________________________________________________________________________ [ The Great Crypt ]----------------------------------------------------------- Kehck is out of the way, so the only one left is the DomZ Priest... o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Priest | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | The boss battle against the DomZ Priest consists of multiple stages. The | | first part pits you and Double H against a wave of DomZ Sarcophagi. You | | shouldn't have any trouble here, since they fall after one hit. | | | | The DomZ Priest then reveals itself and fires a homing laser beam at you. | | You cannot dodge the laser, so get behind Double H and he will shield you | | from the attack. After the laser, the boss shoots some green projectiles | | at you from above. Fire a Gyrodisk at the boss from behind Double H to | | damage it and continue twice more until it hides back inside the statue. | | | | A wall of Materia Crystal shields the DomZ Priest from any attacks as it | | summons evil clones of Pey'j. Every time you kill a clone, it turns into a | | DomZ Sarcophagi. Use Double H's Super Action to knock the clones into the | | air, then swat them into the Materia Crystals. When you get a clear sight | | of the DomZ Priest on the other side, hit it with a clone. | | | | Double H suffers the same fate as Pey'j, and you are left by yourself for | | the remainder of the boss battle. The water in the room rises and leaves | | you on a tiny island. The DomZ Priest then teleports nearby. You must | | quickly strike the boss... if you are too slow or if you attack in the | | wrong direction, you will be tackled. If the boss appears above you, start | | dodging until it teleports somewhere else. | | | | Next up: evil Double H clones! Like the Pey'j clones, they turn into DomZ | | Sarcophagi when destroyed. The water lowers, giving you s'more room to | | move about, which is a plus considering how the boss begins firing green | | projectiles at you. The best way to defeat the shielded clones is to use a | | Super-Attack, then finish 'em off as DomZ Sarcophagi. | | | | Here's where the trouble begins. The DomZ Priest has a greater control | | over you, and your controls are now reversed. Move the Left Analog Stick | | up and you walk down; same with left and right. It's a pain. You get to | | warm up a bit by fighting off several DomZ Sarcophagi in slow motion, so | | continue until the water rises again. | | | | This is similar to the fourth stage, where the DomZ Priest teleports all | | around you and you must strike it head-on. Of course, this is now more | | challenging due to your wonky controls, but overall it is manageable. Hit | | the DomZ Priest a good ten or so times for the victory. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o The DomZ threat is no more thanks to Jade, and the Hillyans have all been rescued. All is well, right? Well, not quite, but that's all there is to tell for this game (can't wait for the sequel). Good job on completing Beyond Good & Evil HD! ______________________________________________________________________________ 4] PEARLS [0400] ______________________________________________________________________________ There are a whopping 88 Pearls to be found throughout the game and are used as currency on the black market. They are first found in the Black Isle mine and in many other spots through the game. When they open their mouth wide and scream, they are getting ready to use a tackle attack. Some Crochaxes carry Pearls around and are known as Pearl Crochaxes. [ Vorax ] --------- Voraxes are similar to Crochaxes in terms of appearance and behavior. They demonstrate the same traits as the other enemies, but aren't that big of a deal for the huge reason that you only encounter one in the entire game. [ Blue Jelly ] -------------- These fluorescent blue jellyfish are very slow, but can deliver a powerful electric shock if you come in contact with them. Due to their speed, they are very easy to defeat as long as you keep your distance. [ Mutant Jelly ] ---------------- These mutant jellies have thick shells covering their entire body and are harder to bring down than their counterparts. You can defeat them with your Dai-jo staff, but it is easier to have Pey'j knock one in the air with a Super Action first. [ Palinurus ] ------------- Palinuruses are strange green monsters that kinda look goofy, but don't let their appearance fool you. These are vicious beasts that often attack in large numbers. In addition to their sharp claws, Palinuruses can also block your attacks, making them tough to take down. Since you often encounter them on platforms and bridges, the best strategy is to simply knock them off the edge to their doom. [ Rat ] ------- You encounter giant black rats throughout the Factory and Slaughterhouse. They aren't much of a threat, but can nip at you as you walk past them. Use your Gyrodisk Launcher or a swift kick to send them packing. [ Trilobite ] ------------- You only encounter these creatures late in the Slaughterhouse mission. They are a bit annoying to fight, since they will jump over your head when you try and swing at them. Have Double H use his Super Attack to stun them, then strike while they are dazed. [ DomZ Sarcophagus ] -------------------- These DomZ creatures are found at the very beginning of the game and in select locations afterwards, including the final boss battle. They are mainly used for capturing and transporting civilians. They don't do much aside from a basic claw swipe and can be killed in one or two hits. [ Alpha Sections Guard ] ------------------------ Arguably the most common enemy in the game, these are your standard-class grunts of the Alpha Sections. These guards are found patrolling in almost every single room inside the Factory and Slaughterhouse. It's typically best to sneak past them, but you can also subdue them. When undetected, target the green air tanks on their back: one kick or Gyrodisk shot blinds the guard, while a second one will kill them. It is much harder to defeat an Alpha Sections Guard when they're aware of your presence; they will raise a shield and attack with hammers. In this case, a Strengthened Super-Attack is the only real way to take them down. [ Alpha Sections Filter Drone ] ------------------------------- The Alpha Sections Filter Drones are found scattered throughout Hillys, usually acting as a gatekeeper towards a few specific locations. One guards the path leading to Black Isle and the other guards the Factory entrance. You can only destroy them using your hovercraft's Neutralizing Cannon. [ Alpha Sections Spider Drone ] ------------------------------- These spider robots are found exclusively in the Factory. They attack in huge waves and can overwhelm you if not careful. The Spider Drones fight one at a time, lunging at you as their legs spin around like a buzz saw. One shot is enough to destroy them, however. [ Alpha Sections Cyclopius Unit ] --------------------------------- These floating turrets are armed with a large cannon on their head that fires powerful laser beams at you. In addition, some Cyclopius Units are also equipped with shields. You can demolish one of them with repeated Dai-jo attacks, but you often find Cyclopius Units in the vicinity of an electric barrier; knock them into the barrier to kill two birds with one stone. [ Alpha Sections Transport Unit ] --------------------------------- Alpha Sections Transport Units are rotund robots that can curl up into a ball and roll around on the ground. They aren't particularly dangerous and are usually used in order to disable electric barriers. Lure one over towards an electric barrier and whack it into the electricity to destroy the robot and disable the barrier. [ Alpha Sections Surveillance Robot ] ------------------------------------- These flying robots use the two air tanks on their shoulders as jetpacks. They will fly all around you while shooting red laser projectiles at you. The only way to target an Alpha Sections Surveillance Robot is using your Gyrodisk Launcher, so shoot at the air tanks once it manages to stand still. Two shots destroy an air tank and four in total will down the enemy. [ Alpha Sections Detection Drone ] ---------------------------------- These floating drones will shine a spotlight on the area below them as they strafe a specified area. If you walk underneath the spotlight, these robots will drop down homing torpedos. Alpha Sections Detection Drones are often used to open up pathways, as you can use the homing torpedos to follow you and veer to the side at the last second to make the torpedo miss; use this tactic to destroy Defense Mines that may be in your way. [ Alpha Sections Defense Mines ] -------------------------------- Defense Mines come in two sizes: big and small. The small ones aren't too much of a threat and can be destroyed with your cannon or jumped over. The big ones are much more problematic. Throughout the Slaughterhouse, these large mines often block entrances and exits: use torpedos deployed by Alpha Sections Detection Drones to help clear out the mines. ============================================================================== 11.2] Bosses [1120] ============================================================================== o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Lighthouse Monster | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Before you can attack the DomZ Lighthouse Monster, you must first free | | yourself from the cage you were placed in. Repeat | | this a few times to defeat the DomZ Lighthouse Monster. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Sea Serpent | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | This boss is very easy. | | As you shoot at the boss, its segments will start to fall apart; continue | | this until the DomZ Sea Serpent falls apart entirely. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Pterolimax | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | At the start of the fight, take a picture of the DomZ Pterolimax as it | | emerges from one of the holes on the arena (PTEROLIMAX GIGANTEA). Punish | | the DomZ Pterolimax a few more times to send it packing. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: Reaper | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Pey'j tries to help out, but is captured by the Reaper. One swift hit will send it over the edge. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Robot | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | The DomZ monster uses some sort of alien power to construct a living | | creature based on random pieces of machinery. Continue exploiting Double H's tough | | head charge attack and topple the boss, then attack its weak point with | | your Gyrodisk Launcher. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Sea Serpent | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | The DomZ Sea Serpent is nearly identical to the first one fought early in | | the game. Other than that, it's a very simplistic battle. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Sea Serpent | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Yet another DomZ Sea Serpent flies down and attacks, but this one is much | | more active. You must chase after the boss using the Beluga, and flying | | the ship for the first time can be a pain. As you pursue the monster, it | | shoots a cluster of fireballs at you. Avoid them and attack using your gun | | and Neutralizing Cannon. It shouldn't put up much of a fight. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: General Kehck | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | General Kehck and his Alpha Sections Giant Spiderbot will fly through a | | canyon with you being tugged behind. There are no blinking | | lights this time, so fire one blast at the cannon center to end this boss | | battle once and for all. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | BOSS: DomZ Priest | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | The boss battle against the DomZ Priest consists of multiple stages. Hit | | the DomZ Priest a good ten or so times for the victory. | o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o ______________________________________________________________________________ 12] THANKS/CREDITS [1200] ______________________________________________________________________________ Of course, this guide couldn't have been made without some extra help.
