How to use this Guide (Ihtutg) =============================================================================== If you need to skip to a certain section of this guide, use the jumble of letters and numbers to the right of each designated section in the table of contents. If you copy and paste that jumble of letters and numbers into your Find Bar (which you bring up by pressing the "CTRL" button and the "F" button at the same time) and press "ENTER", then you will jump to the corresponding section. For example, if you type in "IIbasi" into your Find Bar, you will automatically be sent to the Basics section of this guide. This guide also provides strategies to get through every level of the game. If you ever deem one of the strategies to either be too vague or ineffective, be sure to e-mail me at gladiusix@gmail.com, and I'll get on it as soon as possible. =============================================================================== II. Frequently Asked Questions (IIIfaq) =============================================================================== This section will be dedicated to the questions that are frequently asked about this game. If you think I forgot a common question, please e-mail me and I'll be sure to include it. These questions are numbered in no particular order since they're all relatively common; just keep that in mind. Also, there's a high probability that I included this information somewhere else in the guide. However, I compiled the information and placed it here for easy access. ...A simple "Thank you" would suffice, but just reading my guide is a thank you in itself! :P Question #1! - How do I unlock "Quest 25: Another Goddess" in Hero 30? First of all, you're going to have to take what I call the "Incompetent Path" in the Story Mode. This means that you'll have to fail to save the village in the "Quest 22: Fire Mountain" level. After that, you'll also have to defeat a total of 108 Evil Lords or more to unlock Quest 25. Obviously, you can defeat previous Evil Lords over and over again to do this. Note that "Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax" (the Xbox360 version of Half-Minute Hero) does not contain this level. Sorry to the people who only own this game on the Xbox360, but unfortunately, "Another Goddess" is exclusively on the PSP version of the game. Question #2! - How do I get the Horned Helm? During the level, "Quest 21-2: The Have-Nots", you'll have to accumulate 1500G. Then, when the timer reaches a time lower than 10 seconds, you will have to talk to the soldier in the southwestern village. Offer to pay for the girl as well, and then pay 1500G to the soldier. Beat the level, and the girl will give you the Horned Helm for helping her. Question #3! - How do I get the Hero Sword? During the 29th level in Hero 30, you're going to have to refrain from killing the last zombie in the southern village. This means that you cannot equip the Duel Greaves. When you kill all of the zombies except for the last one, just keep sporadically pressing L and R to stay in battle, but also stay away from the last zombie. This will get you the Hero Sword as well as the "True Hero" Title. Question #4! - How do I get the Balmung? During the "Another Goddess" level, you'll have to gather all of the available allies and give them their Ultimate Powers. After getting the Ultimate Powers for all of the allies, you can finally get your own Ultimate Power. In the area with the sunken village, head over to the "Danger" spot in the east and defeat the monster there. You'll get the Balmung. For an in-depth strategy, go to section (1lvl25-2ag). Question #5! - What determines the rank you get in the different Game Modes? Hero 30 - Time it takes for you to beat the level, as well as how many of the Titles you got in the run The ranks are as follows in order of best to worst: Wonderful Hero True Hero Balanced Hero Little Hero Sucky Hero Evil Lord 30 - How fast you beat the level The ranks are as follows in order of best to worst: Beautiful Evil Lord Pretty Evil Lord Plain Evil Lord Princess 30 - How fast you beat the level, how many soldiers got hit in the level, and how many enemies you killed in the level The ranks in Princess 30 are a little bit different than the other game modes. There are five best ranks instead of just one best rank, but if you get the rank called "30 Second", then that rank will supercede all other ranks. However, there are five best ranks because there are some levels where it's pretty much impossible to get under 30 seconds on. In these levels, you can go for the other four best ranks! So everyone will be happy! Also, note that "Flawless" supercedes "Fighter" as the better rank, so if it's impossible to go for the "30 Second", "Flawless" should be your goal. If both of these seem too hard, then "Fighter" should be your goal. There's also a "Gorgeous" and a "Legendary" rank, except I have no idea on how to go about getting these ranks. Anyways, here's the pecking order of the ranks. Best Rank - 30 Second (Complete level in under 30 seconds) Best Rank - Flawless (Complete the level without losing a single soldier) Best Rank - Fighter (Kill most of the enemies in the level) Best Rank - Gorgeous Best Rank? - Legendary Blueblood Royalty Infamous Royal Brat Knight 30 - How fast you beat the level (When the Sage gets hit, the time it takes to cast the spell increases, so don't let the Sage get hit.) The ranks are as follows in order of best to worst: Great Knight Big Knight Knight Mini Knight Petite Knight Question #6! - How do I get 100% on Hero 30? Simply beat all of the levels. You do not need to get all the Titles, nor do you need to beat all of the levels in under the Target Time. There are 50 levels in total in Hero 30, so beat them all. Question #7! - About how long does it take to beat this game? Depends. If you just want to beat it, it'll take you under 15 hours. I know multiple people who have beaten it in under 8 hours. However, if you want to beat every level in the game, complete the Goddess Room, get the Music Player, get good ranks on all of the levels, and all that jazz, your play time will skyrocket from 10 hours to around 50. Getting the best rank in some missions will take hours on end by themselves. Question #8! - How do I beat Hero 3?! I've provided a section in this guide on how to beat this game mode. Check the Table of Contents and skip to it. =============================================================================== IV. Walkthrough (IVwalk) =============================================================================== :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: HERO 30 ::::::::::::::::::::::::::(3hro30) This is the first story mode that you'll be playing, and you'll be given 30 seconds to beat each level. So... Go ahead and click X to select it, seeing as how there's no other mode to play. (Unless, of course, you've already beaten the game. But if you have... Why are you reading this guide? XD) ======= THINGS TO REMEMBER ======= Anyways, there are some things to remember. If you are playing this mode on Normal Difficulty, then time will stop in villages. In Hard Difficulty, time still runs in villages, so if you decide to play on Hard Difficulty, remember to always dash in the villages. (Don't worry; your health doesn't deplete while you are dashing in the villages.) After beating a level, your Hero's level will reset. This may sound like a bad thing, but it really isn't. There's always a way in a level to become strong enough to beat the boss, so don't worry. If this is your first time playing the game, when the game asks you if you would like to keep Tutorial Messages on, choose "Yes". They're very helpful for people who are just starting out. The last thing that you should probably keep in mind before starting on your adventure is this. You can come back to previous levels to get all the Titles or to reach the Target Time. However, in order to keep the previous levels from getting too easy, the game developers decided to put in a little function that makes it impossible for you to play a previous level with equipment gotten in a later level. Yup, so if you want to play a previous level, you're going to have to equip Equipment that was gotten before that level. To do this, simply select the level and choose "Select Eq". Equip the best Equipment that isn't crossed out, and you should be good to go! ================================== So at first, you'll be able to name your Hero. Name him whatever you want to, and press Start. Watch the following scene, and the first level will start. --- Level 1: Hero's Departure --- (1lvl1herod) Titles: Forgotten - Pick up the Herb in the boat to the east Straying - Fail to defeat the boss in under 30 seconds 3 times Target Time: 1:00 minute You > Evil Level: 5 Reward: Tatty Togs Strategy: At first, all you have to do is run around in the grassy area to fight the Grass Fiends. Quite simple enough; you don't even have to heal while fighting them. After defeating three Grass Fiends, the game will inform you that you have completed the objective. ...Now, we can go back to the King, or we can get the "Forgotten" Title. Just head eastwards, and get onto the boat. Press X, and you'll receive an Herb. And that's how you get the "Forgotten" Title! Now, go back to the King and talk to him. (Some beginners will think that leveling up the Hero right now would be a better idea than going back to the King at this moment, but sadly, the game will not allow you to level up. So just go back to the King.) He will be about to reward you, but the spell to end the world in 30 seconds will be cast, and you'll have to stop the Evil Lord that has done so. Head on over to the village in the west, and buy the Wood Sword in the Armory there. Buy Ramen for 10 G, and fight battles outside until the world ends. But don't worry! The Time Goddess will come to save the day! When the Time Goddess asks you if you would like to make a pact with her, say yes, and she'll rewind time so that you can have another go at saving the world. Once you regain control of the Hero, run around on the beach to the west to encounter battles (remember, do NOT dash to encounter enemies) and level up until you're level 5. Don't worry about the time; the Time Goddess will just rewind it for you. Once you are revived, dash to the western most part of the map and then head south into the forest. You should see a big red evil-looking castle there. Enter it by pressing X, and you'll get into a battle with Hackein, the boss. Hold down O, and if your HP drops below 20, use your Herb. You'll defeat the boss soon enough, and that's the end of the level! You'll be rewarded the Tatty Togs for your efforts! NOTE: If you want to go for both Titles at once, that's entirely up to you. Just make sure you pick up the Herb in the boat, and wait until the last time rewinding to fight the Evil Lord. For a speed run... As soon as you get control of the Hero, beat three Grass Fiends and then dash over to the boat to grab the free Herb. Then enter the village and buy Ramen so that you're at full HP. Then enter the castle and talk to the King. As soon as the King stops speaking, dash out of the Castle and go over to the western village. Buy the weapon, and exit. Get battles on the beach, and dash through them. When your HP gets low, enter the village to heal up with the Herb Ramen. Once you reach level 3, start leveling up in the forest next to the Evil Lord's castle. Watch out though; these monsters deal more damage and knock you back farther than the other monsters. Do this until the world ends, and as soon as the Time Goddess rewinds time for you, dash back to the forest and level up to level 5. As soon as this happens, heal with your Herb if your HP is low and enter the Evil Lord's castle. Dash into him until you beat him, and you should get a time around 40 seconds or so. After beating the level, hold X to pass through the credits. You'll come to a screen showing a caravan. Among the people are the Time Goddess, Professor Knowsall XXX, Aisha, and Naryan. As you progress through the game, you'll want to pay attention to what they're saying because they provide important information from time to time. When you talk to Naryan twice, you'll find out that the land you're going to has a bridge built by a carpenter... Hmm. Anyways, get ready for the next level. --- Level 2: Continental Bridge --- (1lvl2contb) Titles: Barely - Beat the level in under a total time of 30 seconds Kelp Lover - Defeat five Seaweeds Target Time: 0:45 minutes You > Evil Level: 6 Reward: Bamboo Spear Strategy: When you get control of the Hero, get to the village in the north. The Time Goddess will explain the concept behind the Time Goddess Statues, which are basically there so that she can get money while you rewind time. ...Greedy woman... XD Anyways, head north from the village and get to the cave in the north. Just dash through the bats, and the chest at the end of the cave will contain a "Hammer". Get back to the village and talk to the Carpenter (the guy who has an exclamation point over his head) to give his Hammer back, and he will fix the bridge for you! What a nice guy, eh? Cross the bridge and enter the village to the south. Buy an Herb, the Hide Shield, and the Bronze Sword in the Armory. If you need to reset your time, touch the Time Goddess Statue. Fight enemies outside until you reach level 6, and then head north into the castle to face the Evil Lord Badbat! Just dash through his army of bats and then smash into him. If your HP drops below 20, heal with the Herb. ...And when Badbat dies, that's the end of the level. The Carpenter will reward you with a Bamboo Spear. If you want to get the "Kelp Lover" Title, you can go back and get it quite easily. The Seaweeds spawn on any sandy area, so just run around on the sand and fight until you defeat five of them. Simple enough. The "Barely" Title is much more difficult to get. The Time Goddess Statue won't help you one bit here since you have to beat it all in under 30 seconds anyway. Be sure to put the difficulty on Normal, because on Hard, it is next to impossible to beat it. Just head to the cave in the north with the Hammer, and do not dash at all. Kill all the enemies that come your way, and then enter the cave. Do not dash into the bats, just beat them. Once you get out of the cave, dash all the way back to the village. Heal up and talk to the Carpenter. Exit the village and dash over to the bridge. After the scene, head immediately to the south and enter the village. Buy all the Equipment and buy an Herb. If you have enough G, then heal up too. Then dash into the castle, and dash until you kill Badbat. Heal with the Herb if necessary. And that's how you get the "Barely" Title! At the Caravan, talk to Naryan, and you'll discover that in the next mission, there are many bugs... Alright, that's good to know. And if you talk to the Professor, you'll find out that equipping a shield lowers critical hit chances from the enemy. Now get ready for the next level! --- Level 3: Caves and Forests --- (1lvl3cvafo) Titles: Cave Lover - Go through the cave before beating the level Bug Lover - Beat the level without the Flyswatter Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 7 Reward: Club Strategy: This is possibly one of the easiest levels ever. You can easily get under the target time for this one. Just dash over to the village in the west while completely ignoring the one next to you, and buy an Herb there. Eat up and heal yourself as well. Now walk over to the southwest. The Lumberjack resides in a little hut there. If you get into any battles, just flee. Talk to the Lumberjack, and he'll give you the Bug Swatter. This weapon is great. It instantly kills all bug-type enemies, even bosses. ...But, it doesn't do a thing to anything else. So that's why you're just going to be fleeing from every battle except the Boss battle. Head east while fleeing from all battles, and enter the castle. Now dash, and you'll win! Easy, right? Now, if you want to you can return to this level after you've beaten it just to leisurely stroll through it. You can get both titles at once, so you can do everything in one go. Don't go to the Lumberjack, and make sure you're at least level 7 by the time you go through the cave, which is almost directly south of the village. Be sure to buy all the Equipment so that you can add it to your Equipment collection, and be sure to buy a Horse too so that you can own everything in battle. To get a time that's insanely ridiculous... Try out this strategy. (Credit goes to Kwing for providing it.) Get into a battle at the very beginning, and then enter the village to buy a Horse. Dash all the way to the Bug Swatter, and grab it. From there, just get to the Boss and swat her ass for a time under twelve seconds. If you talk to the Professor after the level, he'll inform you that the Bug Swatter will kill any bug in one hit. That's a sweet weapon eh? Now get ready for the next level. --- Level 4: Fire Starter --- (1lvl4fires) Titles: Woods Guard - Beat the level after beating the enemy in the cave Fasting - Beat the level without eating any food (Herbs do not count) Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Barrel Armor Strategy: Get over to the village right in front of you and buy an Herb there. If you plan on getting the "Fasting" Title during your run, then keep coming back here to buy Herbs when you use them so that you don't have to eat food. Fight until you have at least 100G, and then head to the village in the northwest. Buy the Rock Axe there, and then talk to the people with the exclamation points above their heads. Get out of the village and then fight until you have at least 150G. Buy the Barrel Head in the first village, and then head northwards to the cave. You'll get the Barrel Armor regardless of if you save the forest or not, so it's completely your choice. However, you can unlock a different future level depending on if you save the forest or not. I suggest just replaying this level so that you can get both paths. First time through, save the forest or ditch the forest, and then second time through do the opposite. Anyways, make sure you're at least level 6 or so when you're facing Larrie. There's no need to dash into him unless you're going for the target time, so just let the battle fight itself. When your health goes below 20, heal. After the battle, go back to the first village to buy one last Herb, and then dash over to the enemy castle in the far northwest. Enter it, and just hold down O until Yogaf dies. If your health gets low, just heal as usual. And after Yogaf gets his ass kicked, that's the end of the level. ...So. You ready for a speed run? This level can be a bit frustrating to speed run, but if you have the Bug Swatter, it's quite possible to do. Equip the Bug Swatter and then when the level starts, dash into the village directly west of you. Buy an Herb and exit the village. Sporadically dash to the forest in the west of the map, and fight battles here with the bugs (which is why you brought the Bug Swatter with you). Dash through the battles, and heal when you need to. Upon reaching level 7, dash to the village with Cecilia in it. Talk to her and then buy the Rock Axe. Now, dash over to the cave and dash into Larrie until he is defeated. Dash back to Cecilia's village and talk to her. She'll join you to help defeat Yogaf. Be sure to heal as well. Now dash over to Yogaf's castle, and keep dashing until you win. Be sure to use your Herb when necessary. If you don't mess up on any turns or anything, you should be able to get under 27 seconds. (Thanks goes to Merk for pointing out the fact that I didn't have a strategy for this level. He also provided a link to a video that has this same strategy, and I'll provide this link below. However, the video is in Japanese... But you'll get the gist of the strategy when you watch it. Again, thanks goes to Merk for reminding me to include a speed run strategy for this level.) www.gametrailers.com/video/japanese-hero-half-minute-hero/52310%20but%20the%20 closest%20i've%20gotten (The two lines above include the link... It was just too long to fit in one line, so just copy and paste both parts in order into your URL bar.) After the level, if you talk to Aisha, you'll be informed that there was another path to take when the forest was on fire. That means that you can either leave the forest to burn, or put it out. If you put out the fire, then you'll be able to take the path to the "Through the Forest" level. If you decided to not put out the fire, then you'll be able to take the path to the "Through the Cave" level. ======= NORTHERN ROUTE ======= (1northr) --- Level 5-1: Through the Forest --- (1lvl5-1ttf) Titles: Solo Trekker - Beat the level without Richard Lonely - Allow Richard to join your party in the first village, attempt to enter the enemy castle, and then enter the second village Target Time: 0:35 minutes You > Evil Level: 8 Reward: Comfy Sandals Strategy: This level is quite simple. You can either beat the level with or without Richard to get one of the Titles. If you decide to go for the "Lonely" Title, then you won't be able to get under the target time as well due to money constraints. Alright, so first of all, head north to the village. Fight one battle outside the village to get more than 130G, and then go inside the village to buy the Logger Axe. Then run around in the forest a bit until you have enough money to buy two Herbs and the Buckler. Heal yourself with one Herb and then buy the next one. Don't forget to buy the Buckler. Now if you want Richard to come with you, you'll have to pay an extra 300G. It's impossible to do a speed run with that, because you won't be able to amass enough money before the time runs out. However, if you're not going for the speed run, just fight in the forest until you have 300G+. Then talk to Richard again, and he will join you. Just cross over the bridge, and then attempt to go to the enemy castle. Richard will say that he knows you'll be lonely... But you need to drop him off at the village. So just do so, and then you will obtain the "Lonely" Title in the process. Then just go after the boss in the castle, and own him. Now to get under the target time, you're going to be getting the "Solo Trekker" Title as well. Go northwards from the starting point and get in one battle. Get to the village and buy the Logger Axe, and then fight outside until you have enough money to buy both the Buckler and two Herbs, just like the "Lonely" strategy. Now dash across the bridge and just let the battle with the mushroom, the rhino, and the battle with the mushroom and the rhino fight themselves. Even if you're level 5 when you're facing the first mushroom, you should be able to win all of them. In the second village, Pray and heal up. Exit the village and dash into the enemy castle. Dash the entire time, and hopefully you'll get under the target time. You'll get the "Solo Trekker" Title regardless of if you finish under the target time or not. --- Level 6-1: Courage Mountain --- (1lvl6-1com) Titles: Gorgeous - Purchase the Lavish Mail Coward - Beat the level at level 15 or higher Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 9 Reward: Bronze Lance Strategy: This level isn't so bad. Although you'll have to do a lot of fighting if you want to buy the Lavish Mail. You can get both the "Gorgeous" Title and the "Coward" Title in the same run. In fact, it's impossible to get the "Gorgeous" Title without getting the "Coward" Title too. So let's get both Titles in one run, shall we? First of all, battle until you're around level 14, and head back to the original area. Fight battles in the grassy area, since the huge birds give you a lot of G. Sooner or later, you'll surpass level 15 to get the "Coward" Title, and you'll also get 3000G soon enough. Fighting just one bird will probably net you enough G. So buy the Lavish Mail, and you'll get the "Gorgeous" Title as well. Now head over to the Fire Tribe village again, and talk to the old man in the middle. Heal with an Herb if you need to and then dash eastwards. When you're prompted to cross the lava, choose "Yes" and enter the cave. Just dash through the cave and attempt to go back, and when someone asks you to leave the Valor Medal, choose "No". You'll get into a battle, but this guy is defeated in one hit no matter what level you are. So dash back to the village, talk to the old man again, Pray and heal if you need to. Then dash to the northern monument and press X on it. Dash over to the castle, and tear the boss apart. Since you are over level 15... It won't be much trouble. To run this mission under the target time, you're going to need some luck. Head westwards from the original point and ignore the first village. Don't dash at all; just get to the Fire Tribe caravan. Next, at the Fire Tribe's abode, buy an Herb to heal yourself. Then buy another Herb. Talk to the man in the middle and then exit the village. Dash to the cave in the east while crossing the lava and everything. Dash in the cave, and then dash back to the village. If your health runs low, then use your Herb. In the village, buy another Herb and talk to the man again. Exit the village and dash to the northern monument, and then dash to the village again. Heal with your Herb and buy another one. Then dash to the castle and hope you beat the rock guy. --- Level 7-1: Infinite Desert --- (1lvl7-1ind) Titles: Lost - Get sent back to the beginning ten or more times before beating the level Bird Hunter - Kill the big bird in the southwest part of the map Target Time: 0:45 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Quick Knife Strategy: You can get both the "Lost" Title and the "Bird Hunter" Title in one run. They're both pretty easy to get. Just make sure that when you are facing the big bird in the southwest, you are at least level 18 or so. Also, the bird is only encountered in the southwestern corner of the map. You'll know the area when you see it; it has a couple of dead trees in it as well. Now to get lost... All you need to do is follow a path without cacti. Don't dash while doing it though; you won't get any G to pay for your Prayers. So just do that ten times, and you'll get the "Lost" Title. Now how do you beat the level? Do the exact opposite of getting lost. Buy an Herb in the first village and then fight until you have 250G to buy the Iron Sword. Now, follow the path with the cacti and you'll come to a village. Enter the village, and hire Barbara for 400G. Head west and go through the path with the cacti and then instead of heading into the path in the north with the cacti, head east a little bit and then enter the castle from the right. Just rush into the boss; he's not that big of a deal. Dash until you are low on health and then use your Herb. For a speed run, just buy an Herb in the first village and head on over to the second village. Fight until you have enough money to hire Barbara, and then hire her. Fight until you have enough money to Pray, and then Pray. Eat as well to replenish your health. Then periodically dash to the enemy castle and enter it. Dash the entire time, and use your Herb when your HP falls below 15, and just cross your fingers. --- Level 8-1: Village in Danger --- (1lvl8-1vid) Titles: Town Savior - After the village is destroyed for the first time, Pray to reset the clock and beat the level when the village is not destroyed. Kind Heart - Give medicine to the person in the southeastern caravan. Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Loincloth Strategy: You can get both the "Town Savior" Title and the "Kind Heart" Title at once. Fight around in the beginning area until you have at least 300G to buy the Rapier. Now dash south and enter the tent there. Talk to the guy with the exclamation point, and then exit the place. Get over to the little tent in the northwest, and enter it. Talk to the man with the exclamation point over his head, and take the medicine in the tent. Return to the sick man and give him the medicine. This will get you the "Kind Heart" Title. Now, head back to the destroyed village. Pray there and reset the time. Heal up, and head to the cave in the southwest. Dash through the area and enter the castle. Dash into the boss and after beating him, you should get the "Town Savior" Title as well. Seems simple enough, right? However, a speed run is significantly more difficult. As usual. But it isn't impossible. Although on Hard Mode it'd be pretty close to impossible. Anyways, as soon as you have control of the Hero, dash all the way south to the injured guy's tent. Talk to the guy there, and then walk to the professor's village in the northwest. Buy an Herb and heal yourself, and buy another one. Take the medicine and head back down to the injured man. Give him the medicine, and dash to the bridge in the south. Once you get over the bridge, start walking. Don't flee from battles, but don't get into any unnecessary ones either. Get through the cave, and by now you should be level 8 with around 5-6 seconds left on the clock when you go to fight the boss. Just keep dashing into him in hopes of hitting him while fighting the knock-back effect of the lightning. Heal with your Herb when your HP gets really low. If you complete everything in time, you should have about a second of time left before the target time ends. ====== NORTHERN ROUTE END ===== If you want, you can go to the southern route and complete those levels now. However, if you want to just skip ahead to level 9, that's fine too. Just type (1lvl9beaul) into your Find Bar, and you'll be taken to level 9. ======= SOUTHERN ROUTE ======= (1southr) --- Level 5-2: Through the Cave --- (1lvl5-2ttc) Titles: Caretaker - Talk to the old man on the west coast after obtaining the Rubber Boots Gourmand - Eat both the Eel Stew and the Loach Stew Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Stone Spear Strategy: Now, there are different ways to go about beating this level. You can do it the normal way, or you can sort of cheat your way through and just own everything. I'll provide the normal strategy first. First, go south into the village and buy an Herb. Then head west until you see a little house, and enter into it. Talk to the old man and get back outside. Fight until you have little time left, and then dash back to the village. Eat the Loach Stew. (Remember, Loach Stew is only cooked at night time which is 15 seconds and less and Eel Stew is cooked in the morning til noon, which is 30 seconds until 15 seconds. So before Praying, eat the Loach Stew.) Then head back outside and fight until around 20 seconds are left, and then go back inside the village and eat the Eel Stew to get the "Gourmand" Title. Next, keep fighting until the game tells you that you are stronger than the evil. Heal, and then head south. Wait for around 15 seconds, and then enter the cave. Now, there are easy monsters. Just dash through them, and then you'll get the Rubber Boots. When you come through to the other side, head back into the cave and get over to the old man. Talk to him to get the "Caretaker" Title, and then head back through the cave. Head into the village in the south and Pray if you need to. Eat up, and buy the Straw Hat in their Armory. Exit the village and head west to the castle. Hold down O the whole time, and if you need to heal, use your Herb. Joded will eventually die. ...Now, for the cheap strategy. Ignore the first village entirely, and ignore the old man as well. Fight until you have 200+G, and head over to the cave. Wait until the timer gets below 20 seconds, and then enter it. You'll come out... In a different area! Quickly rush over to the little hut, and if you talk to the people there, you'll soon realize that the meal that they're offering is one of pure ownage. Buy the Ancient Meal for 200G, and then get out of there. The Ancient Meal power-up only lasts 15 seconds, so rush through the cave and get to the evil castle in the south. Dash the entire time and you'll soon win. And that's it. You can beat the level at level 6 or so with the Ancient Meal. If that isn't cheap, I don't know what is. After the battle, talking to Naryan will net you some new information. "Different tides open up different paths". Interesting, right? And that "Power-Up" cafe that the Professor was talking about... Well, we already know all about that, don't we...? >:P --- Level 6-2: Castle over the Sea --- (1lvl6-2cos) Titles: Getbacker - Sea King - Defeat one of every monster before finishing the level Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Bronze Axe Strategy: Head south and ignore the first village; there's nothing of value there. When you get to the second southernmost village, just keep fighting until you have 230G to buy the Sailor Suit in the Armory. Buy an Herb as well, and then Pray if you need additional time. To get the "Sea King" Title, you'll just have to fight a lot everywhere. Fighting on the top-half of the map will net you some kills with the cacti and those monsters, and then fighting on the bottom half of the map (which you get to by waiting for the tides to open up) will net you kills with sea turtles and whatnot. So just fight a lot on both the top-half of the map, the bottom half of the map, and the top-left part of the map. Now, at first glance it seems as if there's no way to get to the castle. But just wait. If you wait until around the 20 second mark a land bridge will open up to the south of you. You can completely ignore the land bridge in the west because it does the same thing. So cross the land bridge, and then you'll be able to make your way to the castle. Just dash during the entire battle, and use the Herb if you need to. Ladybeach is really weak, so you won't have to worry about anything. And after you beat her, the level is over. As is customary with all of the boss battles in Hero 30. To get the "Getbacker" title, you're just going to have to be pushed back by the tide a couple of times. So wait until the land bridge opens up, and then go across it. Then wait until it starts receding and the Hero will automatically be driven back. --- Level 7-2: Good Ol' Days --- (1lvl7-2god) Titles: Four Eyes - Obtain the Mage's Glasses before beating the level Sepia Master - Kill a bunch of sepia monsters before beating the level Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Utility Knife Strategy: This level is really easy. Even if you're not trying to go for the "Sepia Master" Title, you're probably going to get it anyway. If you don't, then just try the level again. Anyways, from where you start out, ignore the first village and just fight until your time runs low. Then Pray, and heal up if you need to. Then head into the cave in the northeast, and head to the northwestern corner of the map. You should see a small square that looks like it has grass on it. Step on it, and you'll encounter a "Memory Sun". After beating it, it'll give you some clues as to how to get the Mage Glasses. But for now, just head into the castle in the north and face CATS. You don't have to dash unless you're short on time; CATS simply sucks. However, getting the "Four Eyes" Title is a pain in the ass. I had to play this level around ten times before figuring it out. I'll provide you with a diagram below so you can understand it quicker than I did. But before looking at that, remember this. You cannot do anything until the cross of trees is covered with the retro-style effects. Anyways, here is the diagram: T T T T T T T ^ | | Village Tree Cross (You are here) Okay. So what you're supposed to do is wait for the cross of trees to be hit by the retro-style spell, and then you have to hit all of the trees in some certain order. Before the cross of trees turn retro though, stay in the middle of the cross so you can get a head start. Once it turns sepia, take one step north, and walk onto the north tree. Then turn south, and step onto the southern tree. Get back into the center of the cross, and then step on the eastern tree. Get back into the center of the cross, and then step on the western tree. Now get away from the cross and head eastwards without touching any other trees. Step onto the tree that looks like it's in between the tree on the right of the diagram and the cross of trees. Step on that, and then step on the tree to the right. Then return to the tree between the cross of trees and the eastern-most tree, and then step back onto the eastern-most tree. After that, a cave will open up in the center of the cross of trees. Dash over to it and press X to enter it. On the other side of the tunnel is a little village. Inside of the village is a Time Goddess Statue... And a mage. Talk to her, and you'll get the Mage Glasses! Then you just have to beat the level after that. For a speed run, just start walking north to the northeast tunnel and dash through any battles you get into. Once you're on the other side, get into one battle on the grassy side of the area. Dash through it and then get to the village. Heal up, and start fighting battles in the dotted area (the area that is, well, dotted. It's right below the Evil Lord's castle. You should be able to tell the difference. The battles here are between two enemies instead of the single enemy on the grassy side, so you'll gain experience faster if you fight on the dotted side.) When you reach level 10, heal up and dash into the castle. From there, it's self-explanatory. Just take down Cat, and you're done. That level was enjoyable, wasn't it? Gotta love GameBoy Monochrome graphics. --- Level 8-2: Change the Current --- (1lvl8-2ctc) Titles: Sucker - Eat all of the Evil Combos in the eastern town before clearing the northern cave Gold Lover - Buy the Golden Scudetta Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Iron Spear Strategy: This level is interesting. Larrie, Mo, and Cully make their reappearance in a pretty amusing way. Anyways, from where you are, head north. Yeah, keep heading north. For now, ignore the village in the east. Once you get to the village in the north, buy their last remaining Herb. Then fight a bit more to level up, and then once you need to heal, use your Herb. Head over to the cave in the northwest, and just let the battle fight itself. After the battle, the villages will get restocked. You can buy Herbs if you would like. But now, it's time to go to the village in the east! The wooded area next to the eastern village is great for getting money and experience, so just fight here until you have 2500G. Then go into the eastern village to buy the Gold Scudetta. This will get you the "Gold Lover" Title. Now head on south to the Evil Lord's castle, and dash into the boss. It goes down without much of a fight. Now as for the "Sucker" Title, just replay the level and instead of defeating Cully in the northwestern cave, just fight until you have 1400G, plus some leftover money to have another Prayer. When you have that much G, go to the eastern village and buy all of the Evil Combos in the food shop. That'll get you the "Sucker" Title. Then go on to beat Cully to stop the abnormal current, and then beat the boss as well. If you're planning to do a speed run of the place, just level up to level 8 in the forest and then enter the eastern village. Eat one Evil Combo, and then dash into the northwestern cave. Dash into Cully until he's defeated, and then dash to the northern village to heal up and buy an Herb. After that, haul ass to the enemy castle in the south, and dash into the boss until he's defeated. ====== SOUTHERN ROUTE END ===== --- Level 9: Beautiful Evil Lord --- (1lvl9beaul) Titles: Max Power - Fight and beat the Beautiful Evil Lord Metro - Purchase the Charisma Wig Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 30 Reward: Fur Coat Strategy: There are two ways to go about doing this level. You can either muscle your way through the Beautiful Evil Lord, or you can simply find his dearest Millennia and become friends with him. Your choice. I will cover both strategies. Now, for the normal strategy that doesn't involve owning the Beautiful Evil Lord... Go to the village in the south and buy the Charisma Wig. Fight around and get the Herb as well. Pray if you have to, and then make your way to the village in the southwest. Enter it, and then beat the boss there. He's really easy as long as you're level 4 or higher. Then watch the scenes that follow, and dash to the castle. And you're done. For the other strategy, there isn't really one. Just level up until you're level 28 or so, and then heal up. Rush the Evil Lord and just keep dashing into him. Use your Herb when you need to. After beating him, you'll have an insane amount of G, so if you feel like just leveling up until you're drunk on experience... That's up to you. If you try to battle the Beautiful Evil Lord again, he'll just pine for Millennia and not stop the spell. So, head to the southwestern village and beat the boss. And then head back to the castle. Finally, you'll beat the level. And along with it, you'll get the "Max Power" Title, for beating the Beautiful Evil Lord. To do a speed run, simply walk down to the village in the south and buy an Herb. Then start walking to Millennia. You should get another battle around the time you reach the second village. Dash through it and then enter the village to buy the Usual Milk to heal. Now, head over to Millennia's place, dash through any battle you get into, and you should be level 5 by the time you enter the house where Millennia is. Dash into Noire until he is defeated, and then dash over to the Beautiful Evil Lord's castle and enter it. You should be able to finish with a time around 15 seconds. At the caravan, Naryan will inform you that there are bandits in the next level. So get ready to kill some bandits! --- Level 10: Bandit Valley --- (1lvl10bava) Titles: Bandit Buddy - Beat the level with Donovan with you Going My Way - Beat the level without Donovan Target Time: 0:35 minutes Hero > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Clogs Strategy: You can do this mission one of two ways. You can join up with Donovan and get the "Bandit Buddy" Title, or you can be a loner and get the "Going My Way" Title. As usual, I'll provide strategies for both ways. Let's start with the "Going My Way" path, shall we? So, first of all, go to the village right in front of you and buy an Herb. Then head northwards and hug the right wall so that you don't enter the area with the rocks. Just follow the path and keep fighting enemies until you reach the village in the north. Fight enemies until you have 500G and enough spare money for a Prayer, and then purchase the Silver Spear in the village. Pray if you need to as well. Now, the Silver Spear is great. Because it kills demons in one hit. So all those spots that say "Danger!" are now little more than placeholders for a forced murder. But hey, if it gets you closer to the castle, it's fine, right? So just dash through all of the Danger spots and when you get to the castle, dash into Sandora as well if you're short on time. Sandora is a really weak boss, so you shouldn't have any trouble with it. For the "Bandit Buddy" strategy, you'll have to face some bandits. But that's fine. Head into the village in front of you and buy an Herb. Then level up until you're about level 7, and go back to the village. Pray and heal up. Then go into the cave in the rock area to fight the Bandits. Throughout the entire battle, dash. Heal if you need to. You won't beat the bandits unless you dash. Once you beat them, you'll be able to smash all the rocks in your way. If you're short on time, then go back to the village and Pray, as well as heal up. Then dash through all the rocks and make your way to Sandora's castle. Dash into Sandora as usual, and you'll win rather quickly. Now, the speed run is a different story altogether. It's actually very difficult. You're going to have to do some calculating, and you're also going to have to change your Equipment. I suggest you equip Mage Glasses, Fur Coat, Iron Spear, Rubber Boots, and Wood Shield. This will give you the highest balance of mobility and strength. As soon as you start the battle, you're going to want to dash as quickly as you can into the village. Buy an Herb, and exit the village. Level up to level 6 (7, if possible), and then head into Donovan's cave. Dash, and heal once HP gets below 20. As soon as you regain control of the Hero, dash back to the village and heal up. Buy another Herb as well. As for Praying... Take a look back at the current time you have right now. Let's say it's 05:32. Get a calculator and subtract that from 30. The outcome is 24:68. Now take 24:68 and subtract that from 35 seconds, which is the target time. That is 10:32. Now subtract 10:32 from 30 seconds to get 19:68, which is the time that you'll have to beat the level before. If after you're done Praying and the clock drops below 19:68, then you won't beat the Target Time. Just repeat these calculations for your own numbers. Once you've Prayed, exit the village and dash through the rocks to get to the castle. Dash the entire time into Sandora, and when your HP gets low, heal. If your time drops below the Target Time, then restart. You'll eventually get it if you keep trying, so don't give up! Also, if you're trying this on Hard... I pity you. It's going to be a long haul. I spent around an hour and a half beating it under the Target Time on Hard, and even then, I got 34:92 seconds. So I think I was just lucky with the battles that I got for extra experience. Anyways, congratulate yourself once you've beaten the target time. If you've beat it on Hard... Get a beer or something. --- Level 11: Road to Land or Sea --- (1lvl11rlos) Titles: Barely - Beat the level before the target time passes Bug's Horn - Defeat the Hercules Beetle Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 12 Reward: Black Belt Strategy: This is another parting mission. There are two paths to take; one will take you across water, and another will take you to future land missions. If you want to unlock the water levels, you'll have to take the boat to beat this mission. but if you want to get the land levels, you'll have to beat this mission without the boat. Of course, you can just replay the level to get both paths. I'll cover the "Barely" Title first. In order to get this title, go down to the village in the south. Before you get to the village enter in one battle, and then enter the village. Buy an Herb and heal up in there, and then exit. Head west and stay on the grass. You'll get into a battle with two orange Wild Frill monsters. You should now be level 4. Now head into the tower. Dash into Mo the entire time and he'll be defeated really fast. Dash back to the village and use your Herb when needed. Buy another Herb and heal up. Talk to the boat man, and he'll give you a ship. Use the ship to go south to the castle, but before entering it, fight until you're level 7. Then enter the castle. Dash through the crabs, but don't dash against the boss. When he knocks you back, then dash back at him, but otherwise, don't dash. Use your Herb when your HP gets low, and you should be able to beat the boss. Now, after beating the level like this, you got both the "Barely" Title and the sea levels unlocked! Replay this mission to get both the "Bug's Horn" Title and the land levels unlocked. Equip the Fly Swatter before entering the level again. Level up until time runs short, and then heal up and Pray in the seaside village. Pray and stock up on an Herb. Now take the western path southwards towards the Danger Square, and you'll face a Rhino Beetle when in it. Since you have a Fly Swatter, you'll instantly beat it. Head into the village and heal up. Buy the Hide Armor as well. You should have around 8 seconds to get to the castle. So dash to the castle and enter the battle. Don't worry about if you'll be able to beat the boss or not; you're probably around level 20 so it'll be a piece of cake. After the battle, you'll get the "Bug's Horn" Title as well as the land levels unlocked. (Note that it is possible to get the "Barely" Title along with the "Bug's Horn" Title in one go. It's really easy. Just dash to the village, heal up, and get an Herb. Then dash all the way to the Rhino Beetle and instantly kill it with the Fly Swatter. Heal up in the village, buy the Hide Armor, and dash to the castle. You should be able to beat the entire stage in under 15 seconds. Or you can have bragging rights and beat the stage in under 30 seconds by sea route. Your choice.) ========= LAND ROUTE ========= (1landro) --- Level 12-1: Hero in the Dusk --- (1lvl12-1hd) Titles: Sheriff - Free the southwestern village Candid - Beat the Evil Lord when he is sleeping, which can only be done before the timer passes ten seconds Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 16 Reward: Frost Spear Strategy: In your first run through, you can go for both the "Candid" Title and the "Sheriff" Title and not worry about getting a speed run. First of all, get in one battle before entering the village. Then Enter the village and buy the horse. Fight until times runs short, and then Pray in the village. Heal up too. Now, dash all the way to the town in the southwest by following the southern path (since dashing with Horses doesn't deplete HP, this makes things much easier) and enter the southwestern village. Talk to both Larrie and Cully, and beat them both by dashing into them. That'll get you the "Sheriff" Title. Dash back to the people in the first village and talk to the people who have an exclamation point above their heads. Now head back to the village in the southwest and buy an Herb there, as well as the "Ten Gallon Hat". Heal up for free, and talk to the guy in the armory. He'll give you a "War Hammer" for free. Now fight until you have enough money to Pray again, and then Pray in the village. Dash to the enemy castle and dash into him until he is defeated. If you beat him before he woke up (which you should have, since you prayed right before the battle) then you will also get the "Candid" Title. On to the speed run strategy! Before you start, make sure you have the Loincloth equipped as your Armor. This will add major points to your attack, and high attack is essential to get under the target time. As for the rest of your equipment, I used the Barrel Head, the Rapier (for higher Critical-hit chance), the Buckler (so you won't be slowed down by the Gold Scudetto), and the Rubber Boots. Fight one battle, and then get the Horse. Fight battles outside (while dashing through the battles) until you're level 6, and then heal up at the village. Dash to the cave, and dash through the battle. Re-enter the cave immediately and then dash back to the village. Heal up and Pray. (Praying is essential here to get under 30 seconds. This is because if you don't Pray to set back the time, Unpopo will wake up and start dealing heavy damage to you. --- Level 13-1: Cleric and the Devil --- (1lvl13-1cd) Titles: Wishy-Washy - Beat the level without the help of the nun or the demon Collector - Obtain both the Dranium and the Devil Egg Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 25 Reward: Sword Knife Strategy: Just a note here; you can't get both titles in one go. You're going to have to do them in separate runs. So I'll just cover them both. Alright, let's do the "Wishy-Washy" Title first. This is really simple. Just level up until you're level 25, and then head over to the castle. You can enter into the villages in the north and south but don't talk to the people with the exclamation points above their heads. Once you enter the castle, just dash and the enemy will soon be defeated, which will get you your "Wishy-Washy" Title. This will also unlock the Cleric's Route for you. Now, for the "Collector" Title. Get to the village in front of you and buy an Herb there. Next, head south and fight battles until time runs short. Pray in the village, heal up, and talk to the lady with the exclamation point above her head. She'll ask you if you want the power of an ancient demon, and... Well, who wouldn't? So select "Yes" and go over to the tower in the west. Just hold the dash button throughout all of the levels and you'll get the Devil Egg. Dash back to the village and talk to the lady again. Now heal up and Pray if you need to. Head to the village in the north where the Cleric lives. Don't meet the Devil just yet. So go ahead to the Cleric's village and talk to her. She'll say that you're a sinner... Oh well. Just go into the cave to the west and dash through the first wave of enemies. After the battle, you'll be given a choice to either go through a side path or stay on the current one. Select "No". In the next wave, dash and then select "Yes". In the next wave, dash and then select "Yes". If you do not follow these directions, you'll get owned by a dragon. Anyways, at the end of the tunnel, you'll get the Dranium. Now you have the "Collector" Title! Anyways, heal up, and wait at the crossroads next to the castle until ten seconds remain. The Demon will grant you a power-up. Now rush over to the castle and own the boss. You'll be given access to the Devil's route now as well. You can replay the level to see how the Cleric helps you too, if you would like. ...You still want to do a speed run...? Alright. Listen up. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BEAT THIS USING THE CLERIC. It takes too long. So just go for the Devil's power. Fight one battle next to the village in front of you, and then buy an Herb. Dash all the way to the village in the south and eat up to heal there. Then talk to the Devil Lady and dash over to the Devil's Tower. Dash through all the levels and when you need to heal, heal. Dash back to the Devil Lady and talk to her. Then dash to the Devil's Crossroads and then dash to the castle. (...So much dashing... Lol) Then dash into the Boss until you defeat it, and hope that you get it within the target time. Now, after the battle, you can either go down the path of the Devil or you can walk on the path of the Cleric. You choose. If you choose the Cleric's path, read on. If you choose the Devil's path, jump to (1devilr) using your Find Bar. ======= CLERIC ROUTE ======== (1cleric) --- Level 14-1: Mummy Desert --- (1lvl14-1md) Titles: Sword Guide - Talk to Dain in the southern city after the castle shows up Frantic - Search the wrong stone Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 15 Reward: Steel Spear Strategy: Mummies... They're so freaking creepy. Guess you'll have to fight one to proceed with the adventure! Getting both titles is really easy. I'll provide the strategy below. When starting out, fight a couple of battles until you have enough G to Pray, buy the Scale Shield, and heal. Then when the time gets low, Pray and heal up. Buy the Scale Shield too, and proceed to the village in the northeast. Talk to Dain there and buy an Herb for 50G there. Now head northwards to the monuments, and you should see a formation like so: M M M M M M Pray to any of the monuments except the one on the far right to get the "Frantic" Title. Then pray to the monument on the far right. Next, pray to the monument on the bottom left. This should show you where the castle is. Rush back to the village where Dain resides and speak with him. Heal up, and go to the castle. Dash the entire time and use your Herb if you need to. Dain is basically useless in this battle since he moves so slow... You might actually beat the boss before he is able to do anything. Anyways, this run gets you both Titles. For the speed run, ignore Dain entirely, but buy an Herb in his village. Examine the correct monuments, and then go back to the village to buy another Herb. Dash into the castle and dash until you beat the boss. Heal if you need to. You can actually get under 20 seconds with this strategy if you do it fast enough. That was a nice change from the previous harder missions, right? Well, onwards to the next mission... The Spinning Castle. --- Level 15-1: Spinning Castle --- (1lvl15-1sc) Titles: Fort Stopper - Stop the fort from spinning Fort Chaser - Beat the level without stopping the fort from spinning Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 15 Reward: Drill Lance Strategy: Well, it's obvious that you can't get both Titles in one go. Just replay the level once you finish to get both. And, if it so pleases you, you can go on a speed run. This level is also extremely easy. I'll cover stopping the castle first. Just go to the village in the southwest first, and fight until you have enough money to buy the Herb and the Duralumin. Then head to the village in the northwest and fight until you have enough money to buy the Battle Axe. Heal up, Pray if you need to, and then head to the center of the forest. Press X on the wall of stone, and you'll encounter a demon dude and his minions. Kill them and you'll enter a little hut area. Examine the building and when prompted to press a button, select "Yes". Now the castle has stopped moving. Rush over to the castle and dash into that stupid tornado boss until he falls over. ...Good job! You beat a natural disaster and got the "Fort Stopper" Title at the same time! To get the "Fort Chaser" Title, it's even easier. Walk to the southwest village and kill any enemies along the way. Train until you can buy both an Herb and the Duralumin. Then head to the northwestern village and fight until you have 370G to buy the Battle Axe. Then dash into the enemy castle in the north, and then dash into the boss. Heal if necessary, and keep dashing until the guy succumbs to the might of the Hero! Doing this will also get you under the target time! --- Level 16-1: Bust the Wall --- (1lvl16-1bw) Titles: Bomber - Use the Huge Bomb Explorer - Explore all of the caves Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Wing Blade Strategy: You can get both Titles in one playthrough. When you first start out, fight two battles outside of the village. Then enter the village and heal yourself. Exit the village and buy the Flash Shield in the village to the north. Head to the westernmost cave on the map (it has a cactus outside of it) and enter the cave. Once through, head down to the little tent if you need to Pray. Walk into the other cave in the area and talk to Vaan. He'll give you a Giant Bomb. Now get out of there and return to the northern village. Heal up if you need to and then head to the eastern-most cave. Kill the little minions and then throw the Giant Bomb at the grayish monster. If you have more than 15 seconds left, go to the cave that's a little northward of the eastern-most cave. Enter it and let the auto-battle function take care of the enemies. After that's done, head back to the village and Pray. Go back to Vaan and get another Giant Bomb. Now head over to the cave that is a little bit northeast of the the western-most cave, and enter it to explore the last cave. After beating the enemies inside of it, rush over to the enemy castle. Upon entering the battle, throw the Giant Bomb by pressing Square and then just dash into the Evil Lord. When you beat the level, you'll get a Wing Blade as well as the "Bomber" Title, and the "Explorer" Title. To beat this level in under 30 seconds... It's actually not that hard. Get two battles outside the first village and then heal up. Immediately dash to Vaan's cave, and then get the Giant Bomb. Then dash back to the initial village and heal up again. Run along to the enemy castle, and throw the Giant Bomb. Start dashing and just dash into Vermouth until he is beaten. And that's the end. --- Level 17-1: Grail and Evil Lord --- (1lvl17-1ge) Titles: Detective - Defeat the Bandit Trio in all of their hiding spots Trendy - Obtain the Trendy Band Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 20 Reward: Sicarius Strategy: In order to get the "Trendy" Title, you need to defeat the Bandit Trio in all of their hiding spots. So you're kind of forced to get both Titles at once. From where you are, battle until you have enough money to Pray, Heal, and buy the Speed Gear. That in total is 450G. Next, head into the swamp directly east of you. Move around in it until you encounter Cully. You don't need to dash into him; he sucks. Next, go directly north and walk around in the northwestern swamp. Eventually, you'll get a battle with Mo. Do the same thing that you did with Cully; leave your PSP alone for a bit. Next, head on over to the swamp in the northeast and walk around in it until Larrie shows up. Beat him as well, and you'll get the real Grail from him. Head over to the nearby village to heal, and if you have like, 3 seconds left on the clock, then Pray. Head south while defeating any enemies that come your way, and then wait at the southeastern corner of the map where the boat is. Don't step on it just yet though. Wait until 10 seconds are left, and then step on it and press X. This will get you into a battle with Larrie, Mo, and Cully. You don't need to dash; they still suck. After beating them you will get the Trendy Band. Now, dash over to the enemy castle and stop by at the initial village to heal if you need to. Also, you should probably Pray there as well. Next, enter the enemy castle and dash until you're next to the boss. Use the Grail while still dashing, and then you will eventually beat her. For the target time run, you're going to have to be fast. And you are going to have to dash at all the right times. So get ready; you're probably not going to get this on your first try. Ignore the first village and walk northwards. As soon as you get into a battle, just dash through it. Next, dash just a little bit to the east, and then when you get into a battle, just dash through it again. Head into the swamp where Larrie resides and dash into him to get the Grail, and then dash to the nearby town to heal up. Next, walk southwards and dash through any battles you get into. Fill up the Grail at the spring, and then get into one more battle to get you to level 9. Now sprint back to the first town and heal. Then dash to the enemy castle and dash until you're pretty close to the boss, and then use the Grail. Then just hold O down and hope to god you make it. ====== CLERIC ROUTE END ===== ======= DEVIL'S ROUTE ======= (1devilr) --- Level 14-2: Lord's Counterattack --- (1lvl14-2lc) Titles: Forest Guard - Change all the deserts into forests Unlucky - Choose the correct sandhole last for all four four deserts Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 20 Reward: None Strategy: Alrighty then! Let's get that "Unlucky" Title! You can get both the "Unlucky" Title and the "Forest Guard" Title in one go, but you will be praying A LOT. As a last reminder, dash in all of the battles. Since you're getting help from the devil, you'll be pretty much unstoppable. So get ready... And GO! Alright, head into the desert to the north of you. There are three sandholes, right? Well, go into the top one last, since that's the correct sandhole. In the next area, go into the middle sandhole last. Go back and Pray in the village if you need to. Now get to the desert in the northwest. Go into the top sandhole last. Now for the last desert. Go into the top-right sandhole last. And you are done! This'll get you both the "Forest Guard" Title and the "Unlucky" Title. Now enter the castle, and just dash into the boss until he dies. And that's the end of the level. For a speed run, just run into the correct sandholes as fast as you can and you should easily get the target time. --- Level 15-2: Twin Valley --- (1lvl15-2tv) Titles: West Hero - Grant all requests of the western village East Hero - Grant all requests of the eastern village Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: None Strategy: You can get both the "East Hero" Title and the "West Hero" Title in one playthrough, but you'll probably need to Pray quite a bit more. Alright, go forward and buy an Herb in the little Tent. Then head to the East Village and talk to the girl with an exclamation point above her head. She'll tell you to get water for her. Now talk to the dudes with exclamation points above their heads. Now exit the eastern village and enter both caves to the north. Enter the one on the right and mine the rock at the end. Enter the cave on the left as well and walk into the water. Now enter the eastern village again. Talk to both the girl and the desperate man, and then talk to their siblings. Enter the cave on the right and enter the tent to the south. The merchant will take your silver. Now enter the cave on the left, and enter the lumberjack's house. Now get back to the eastern village and talk to the siblings. Now, you've granted everyone's requests! You've gotten the "East Hero" Title! Now head over to the western village. Here, talk to the people with exclamation points above their heads. Since you've prayed recently, it's morning time! So head into the left cave and give the lumberjack his lunchbox. Now head into the right cave and touch the shrine. Run back to the western village and talk to both the Cheeky Boy and the Tired Youth. Wait for 15 seconds to come around, and then enter the left cave. Touch the tree in the middle of the area, and then enter the right cave. Step in the hole, and then return to the western village. Talk to the people with exclamation points above their heads, and you'll have freed the western village! Now you also have the "Western Hero" Title! Since you've dispelled both seals already on the castles, go to the castles. Either one is fine. Just dash until the boss is defeated. Then the bosses will regroup and join together at the other castle, so go to the other castle. And then dash their brains out. >:P You won't get any Reward for winning... Oh well. But if you want to do a speed run, re-enter the level. Just keep in mind that this level on a speed run is VERY difficult. You might want to equip Equipment that makes you light, because you'll have to move very quickly. When the battle starts, dash to the tent village. Buy an Herb and exit the area. Dash to the eastern village and talk to the people. Then dash into the right and left caves and then return to the eastern village. Talk to the people again, and ignore the sibling's requests. Dash to the western village and talk to all of the people so that you won't get mixed up while doing the errands. You have to be above 20 seconds at this point or you won't make it. Enter one of the caves and if you think you have time, do the other cave as well. However, if you miss the 20 second mark, that's fine. Just wait until the 15 second mark and then immediately enter one of the caves. After doing the errands, dash to the western village and talk to the people with exclamation points above their heads. Then exit the western village and dash as fast as possible over to one of the castles. Dash throughout the entire battle and then dash over to the next castle. Dash throughout that entire battle too and use your Herb if you need to heal. And if you get all the times down right, you'll win! I won with 0.13 seconds left, but I think that's because I had the Gold Scudetto equipped, which is the heaviest shield you can have at this point in the game... Anyways, good luck! --- Level 16-2: Ancient Riches --- (1lvl16-2ar) Titles: Booty Getter - Find the secret treasure Bomb Master - Destroy all of the boulders with bombs Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Gold Rush Bone Head Anima Plate (You only get these rewards if you get all of the treasure and save the village.) Strategy: ...The last level before your soul is sold... Oh well. Might as well defeat one more Evil Lord while we're at it, eh? Alright. Getting both Titles at once is actualy quite difficult. So you should probably just relax a little and go for one title per run. When going for the Bomb Master Title, change your equips. I recommend equipping any shield that ISN'T the Gold Scudetto; that thing is really heavy and will just weigh you down. Also, get the Quick Knife equipped for critical hits. If you want to destroy all the boulders with the bombs, you can't even touch the boulder. Which means you will need critical hits to break the boulders in one hit. Anyways, as soon as the battle starts, dash over to the tent. Talk to the Bomb maker there and then exit the tent. Dash over to the eastern boulder and throw the bomb as soon as you get into battle. If you don't kill it in one hit, reset. Then enter the cave and beat Larrie, but don't touch the mole until it gets down to 22 seconds. This is because the mole will destroy one of the boulders for you if you lay off of him until 22 seconds. Alright, after touching the mole, dash back to the tent in the south and talk to the bomb maker. He and the rest of the townspeople will come back to the village in the north. For this run, we're just going to get the treasure, alright? So go get a bomb from the bomb maker in the north village and destroy the boulder on the far right by running into it and throwing the bomb at it. Enter the hole on the far right and you'll get one piece of the treasure. Then go back for another bomb and do the same thing to the boulder on the far left. Enter the hole in the far north of the map to get the other piece of the treasure. Now dash all the way south and go south of Larrie's cave. You see the southeastern hole? The one all the way at the bottom? Go around to the right side of that hole and touch it. You'll get the last part of the treasure, and the "Booty Master" Title. Now dash back to the village and Pray. Fight some battles for more levels, and then head over to the enemy castle. Just run into the guy until he's done, and that's the end of the level. Now for the "Bomb Master" Title... Rush to the tent and talk to the bomb maker as usual. Blow up the boulder in the east, but DO NOT touch it with your body. If it doesn't blow up, restart. Then enter the cave and own Larrie. It doesn't matter if you get the last treasure or not. So rush back to the tent in the south and talk to the bomb maker again. Then dash to the village and ask the bomb maker for a bomb. Just repeatedly destroy all of the boulders with only bombs, and you will get the Title. Flee if you don't destroy the boulder with the bomb, and just come back with another. Pray if you need to replenish the bomb maker's bomb stock. After you defeat the boss, you'll get the "Bomb Master" Title. For a speed run, do the same thing up until the mole part. Don't wait for the timer this time; just go ahead and hit the mole. Go back to the tent, get the people to the village, and ask the bomb maker for a bomb. Blow up the boulder blocking your path and go get another bomb. Remember, the Time Goddess said that you needed the treasure... So you have to go get the treasure as well. If you don't, you will actually have your soul taken. Trust me, I tried. Anyways, just break all the boulders as fast as you can with the help of the bombs, and as soon as the bomb maker runs out of them, Pray to reset the time to get more. When you get to the castle, just hope that you have enough time to beat Bosch. --- Level 17-2: Avalanche Pass --- (1lvl17-2ap) Titles: Snow Stopper - Defeat the two Yetis in the cave Underwear - Beat the level after being swept up in an avalanche Target Time: 0:40 minutes You > Evil Level: 20 Reward: Lightning Spear Strategy: Alright. So basically, there's like, this avalanche that takes away all of your Equipment. You're going to have to watch out for that, because you'll be extremely weak if you don't have any Equipment on you. You can still get both Titles in the same run though, so everything's good... Anyways, let's get started. Just keep fighting and fighting and fighting until you reach level 20. Keep in mind that the enemies on the snow that the avalanche created are actually stronger than the ones on the snow next to the village. When you're around level 20, Pray and get hit by the avalanche that comes around at about the 22 second mark. When you're naked, rush back to the village and buy the Snowalkers and talk to the girl for a Cozy Hat. Head over to the cave in the northeast and fight the Yetis. Don't dash, because you just might die if you do. After beating the Yetis, you'll have gotten the "Snow Stopper" Title. Now head back to the village to Pray and heal up. After doing your business at the village, make your way to the Boss. She resides in the northwestern corner of the map. Enter the castle and just dash until she dies. This will get you the "Underwear" Title. Now for the speed run, be sure not to get hit by the avalanche. Have the Anima Plate, the Bone Head, the Scale Sandals, the Flash Shield, and the Wing Blade equipped. From where you're starting, just start walking to the Yetis' cave. Dash through the battles you get into, and then once you get to the Yetis, dash through them and try to lose most of your HP. After defeating them, head out into the snow and get defeated by the monsters there so that you don't have to walk back to the village. From here, dash into the village and heal up. You should have enough G to get the Snowalkers and Pray. You have to Pray so that the boulder is cleared from the path to the Evil Lord's castle. Exit the village and periodically dash to the Evil Lord's castle, and then dash throughout the battle against the Evil Lord. You should win with a time of 29 seconds or so. ====== DEVIL'S ROUTE END ===== ======= LAND ROUTE END ======= Jump to section (1lvl18whea) to continue with the guide. ========= SEA ROUTE ========= (1searou) --- Level 12-2: Past the Ocean --- (1lvl12-2po) Titles: Tragic - Obtain the ship and visit Mary Full Outfit - Obtain the Swimmer Ring, the Swimmer Legs, and the Swim Goggles Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 12 Reward: Iron Axe Strategy: This battle will determine ANOTHER fork in the road for you. You can either go island hopping, or you can get a new ship. Or you can unlock both. Your choice. When you first start out, ignore the village next to you. Go down south and fight until you have 200G to buy the Swimmer Ring. Now fight some more until you're around level 8 or so, and then go down to the southeast island. Fight enemies there until you're around level 13-15, and buy all their gear to get the "Full Outfit" Title. Buy an Herb as well and head back to the village with the Time Goddess Statue. Start walking northwards and take a little turn to the right. Then keeping walking north and enter the hole next to the mountains. Don't dash until the skeletons are upon you... And then start dashing. You'll get a ship after the battle. Head back to the first village and talk to the old lady there to trigger a cutscene. That will land you the "Tragic" Title. Now sail with the ship down to the castle, and just dash into the boss. Since you beat the skeletons in the cave, you should be around the healthy level of 20 or so. And after that, you'll unlock a path to the ocean levels! If you want to speed run this map, just replay the level. It actually isn't that difficult for a speed run. Head south and completely ignore the first village. Don't cross the bridge just yet though; get into three battles with two or more enemies in them. Dash throughout every single battle. Then enter the second village. Here, buy the Swimmer Ring and heal up. Dash over to the village in the southwest, and fight two battles with two or more enemies. Dash throughout the battles. Heal at the village if you need to. Buy an Herb and then heal up. Dash over to the castle and dash into the monster. You should be around level 8 when facing him, and heal with the Herb if necessary. This speed run should grant you access to the island route. So if you want to complete the island route, keep reading. If not, type (1oceanr) into your Find Bar to jump to the ocean levels. ======= ISLAND ROUTE ======= (1island) --- Level 13-2: Dragon Island --- (1lvl13-2di) Titles: Miser - Sell the Dragon Egg and skip getting the Dragon Lance No Plan - Beat the level without the Dragon Egg or the Dragon Lance Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Fire Rod Strategy: You can't get both Titles in one run, so I'll provide strategies for both of them. First of all, however, we'll go with a playthrough for just acquiring weapons. That way, you can have the Dragon Lance for future levels. When you start out, just fight until the timer gets down to 10 seconds. Then get back to the village and Pray. Heal up and get down to the cave in the southwest. Dash and then pick it up. Dash over to the Dragon Lab directly east, and then give them the Dragon Egg. They'll give you 2000G. Now you can buy the Dragon Lance! First of all though, get the Chain Mail. Get over to the initial village and buy the Dragon Lance. Now just own the boss. For the speed run, dash immediately to the dragon cave. Get the Dragon Egg, and sell it. Then get the money, and you'll probably have just 1 HP left by this point. Die, and then gt as quickly as you can to the village to buy the Dragon Lance. Heal up as well, and periodically dash to the Evil Lord's castle. Don't get in any battles either; if you get a battle, restart. Enter the Evil Lord's castle, and then dash and you should be able to win with around 14 seconds or so. Now, let's get on to getting those Titles. The "No Plan" Title is really easy to get. Just keep battling until you're level 10, and then heal at the village. Pray, and go to the Evil Lord's castle. The "Miser" Title is also really easy to get. Dash over to the dragon cave, and get the Dragon Egg. Now quickly get over to the Dragon Lab, and sell the egg. Get over to the first village, and level up until you're level 10. Then heal up, Pray, and infiltrate the Evil Lord's castle. --- Level 14-3: Tiny Sailing Trip --- (1lvl14-3st) Titles: Octo Hunter - Sail your boat to the Evil Lord's island between 20 - 10 seconds and beat the Kraken Ship Lover - Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Gladius Strategy: For this battle, keep the Dragon Lance equipped and equip the Swimmer Ring. This way, you can get both Titles in one run. First of all, walk west and enter the cave. You don't have to dash since the Dragon Lance kills all dragons in one hit. When you exit the cave, you'll be stronger than the Evil. So enter the village and buy the Coral Crown. Now exit the village and head back over to the initial village. Buy the Silver Hammer and go fight some battles until you have enough for three ship rides and a Prayer. Pay the fisherman and then head south to the boat. Wait until it's between 20-10 seconds to set sail, and then set off. You'll encounter the Kraken. Dash into it and heal with your Herb if you need to. Then as soon as you get to the Evil Lord's castle, run back to the village and Pray. After defeating the Kraken, you'll get the "Octo Hunter" Title. Now pay for another ship ride and sail to the Evil Lord's island. But run back to the village one last time to pay for one last boat. Sail over to the Evil Lord's castle and enter it. Then own the guy. For a speed run, dash over to the dragon cave and beat the dragons. Then dash back to the village and heal yourself with an Herb. Buy another one for the Boss battle. Buy the Silver Hammer as well. Fight one battle outside the village for enough money to set sail, and then buy a trip on the boat. Make sure that it's past 12 seconds when you set sail, and then just destroy the boss by dashing into it. You should be able to beat this level within 27 seconds or so. --- Level 15-3: Flower in the Dusk --- (1lvl15-3fd) Titles: Flirty - Have Natalie join you Tough - Ignore Natalie Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Beast Killer Strategy: You can't get both Titles at once... Sad face. But that doesn't matter, unless you don't have enough time for another run. Let's start off with getting Natalie. Walk into the village and talk to Natalie (the girl in the purple dress). Now go to the tent that is to the east of here and buy an Herb. Then battle around for a bit until you have enough money to get the Battle Boots. Keep battling until the timer gets lower than ten seconds, and then dash into the swamp. There's a shining object in the middle of it. Go near it and pick it up. Dash back to the village and talk to Natalie. Pray, and battle around a little bit more until you have enough money to buy the Morning Star (and another Herb if you need it). And then head north to the Evil Lord's Castle. He'll die really fast. Anyways, on to the speed run! Just walk to the village with the Battle Boots, and encounter battles in the forest next to the village. Dash through two battles, and then enter the village to buy the Battle Boots. Heal up with an Herb, and then buy another Herb. Get another battle in the forest, and dash through it. You should be level 8. If not, restart to get a better time. After that battle, dash to the Evil Lord's castle and dash into the boss. Use the Herb when needed. You should land a time around 18 seconds if you do this right. ...And this is the end of the island route. If you want to do the other routes as well, go ahead and take a look at the table of contents to get there. Or you can jump to (1lvl16-3sc) to get to the next level. ===== ISLAND ROUTE END ===== ======= OCEAN ROUTE ======== (1oceanr) --- Level 13-3: Battle Ocean --- (1lvl13-3bo) Titles: Wave Rider - Ride all of the currents Pirate Buddy - Help the pirates get their hideout back Target Time: 0:40 minutes You > Evil Level: 15 Reward: Long Sword Strategy: As is usual with these levels, you can get both Titles in one run. So from where you are, take your ship and land it on the island south of you. Just fight battles normally and head south until you reach the Pirate's village. Talk to the Pirate there, and then head back up north towards your ship. Kill any enemies along the way. Enter the village and Pray, and heal. Then get onto your ship and sail to the next island in the west. Dock at the village, and enter it. Buy an Herb, as well as the Flower Crown and the Heavy Armor. Now get back onto your ship and head south into the cave at the bottom of the island. Dash through the battle there, and then make your way back to the village. Pray, heal with your Herb, and then buy another one. Now sail off into the shoals with your ship. To get the Wave Rider Title, you have to enter every single current. This includes the one on the very left. So go do that. Pray when you need to, and don't attempt to go into the currents on the far left unless you have 12 or more seconds of time left. After you go into every current, go Pray at the village and then actually avoid the currents. After avoiding all the currents, dash into the enemy castle and just keep dashing until the boss is defeated. By now, your level is so high that the Pirate doesn't even matter. For the speed run, just start heading west on your ship. Dash through all your battles. Get to the far side of the second island where the village is, and dock there. Quickly enter the village there and heal up with an Herb. Stock up on another Herb, and then buy the Flower Crown. You probably won't have enough money to buy the Heavy Armor, so just leave it for now. Sail into the shoals and just follow the path that the pirate showed you in your first time through, and dash to the enemy castle. Keep dashing until you are low on health, and then just use your spare Herb. You should be able to beat Ashlean with about a second to spare. --- Level 14-4: Lizardman Nation --- (1lvl14-4ln) Titles: Lizard Lover - Rescue Rex from the northern tent Lizard Hater - Don't rescue Rex Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 15 Reward: Trident Strategy: You have to do two separate runs of this level in order to get both Titles. So first of all, let's get the Lizard Lover Title. From where you are, just level up on your ship on the waters. When you get enough G to buy the Steel Shield and enough to Pray as well, go do that. Then heal up. Avoid the forest by sailing north and then enter the castle. Talk to the King, and then head north. Buy an Herb in the village, and also buy the Scale Helmet. Get back onto your ship and then get to the northern landmass. There'll be a tent there... Looks suspicious, doesn't it? GET IN THERE! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, SAVE REX! ...Okay, that was corny. Anyways, check the middle tent, and Rex will be rescued. So head back to the village. Pray, heal, whatever you need to do. And then get to the lizard castle. Talk to the King and then get back in your ship. Get back onto the northern landmass, and then dash to the Evil Lord's castle. Since you have Rex with you, the enemy lizards will run away. So you can sit back for this fight. The Boss goes down really fast without any help. Now, for the "Lizard Hater" Title. Just follow all of the steps... Except ignore the King's pleas. Because you are now a lizard hater. You'll probably want to level up to level 15 so that you can deal with the Evil Lord's lizard minions. So just go ahead and enter the castle, and dash throughout. Heal with your Herb when you need to. To beat the level in under 30 seconds, you're going to have to do some strategic fleeing. As soon as you get control of the hero, get onto the boat and sail north. Hold L and R as you do so. Flee from the first two battles, and then rush into the castle. Talk to the King and then exit the castle. Dash back to your boat and sail to the village in the north part of the land. Buy an Herb to heal yourself, and then buy another for future use. Hold L and R down while sailing and then dash over to the tent. Inspect the middle tent leave the fighting to the auto-battle the entire battle. Use your Herb when your HP gets low. Check the other tents as well for additional experience. Then dash back to your boat and flee from any battles. Dash to the castle and talk to the King, and then dash to the village in the north. Buy an Herb to heal yourself and buy an Herb for future use. Sail and flee from any battles. Once you get on land, dash to the Evil Lord's castle and enter it. If you have enough time, wait back with Rex. But if you don't, just go for it and dash into the dude. Use your Herb if you need to. And with luck, you'll beat him in time. At the caravan... Naryan will give a hint about there being treasure to dig up in the next level. Hmm... You up for some treasure hunting? :P Anyways, if you managed to beat the Target Time in less than five tries, I commend you. It was really difficult for me and it took me forever to figure out what to do. ...In fact, I'd have to say this was the hardest part of the entire game to beat. Just my personal opinion though. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to get under the Target Time on Hard Mode. Because each time I beat it under the Target Time on Normal, I had less than 0.2 seconds left. --- Level 15-4: Treasure Island --- (1lvl15-4ti) Titles: Gourmet King - Eat all the items in the initial town's foodstand Pirate King - Find all the emblems and get the Captain's Hat from the hidden cave Target Time: 0:35 minutes You > Evil Level: 15 Reward: Saw Axe Strategy: Now, you can get both Titles in one go. ...This level is also significantly easier than the last one. You can't even compare how easy this one is... Anyway, from where you are, start heading west. Don't dash during the battles for now; this isn't the speed run. Go to the very end and touch the tree to get an Emblem. Now get on your ship and head south to the islands with monuments on them. Touch the monument on the northeastern island (remember, it has to be between 20 and 10 seconds...) and you'll get another emblem. The last emblem is on a boat in the west. Sail over there, and you will see two boats. The emblem is on the lower boat. Now sail back to the village while fleeing from all the battles and if you have enough money to eat the Fish Dinner (120G) and Pray (100G) then do so. Also, buy an Herb and the Scale Sandals. Go outside to fight a bit and then get back in the village to eat the breakfast meal. Fight some more, and then get back in the village between 20 - 10 seconds to get the lunch meal. Now head north and enter the hidden cave next to the Evil Lord's castle. Beat Mo and you'll get the Captain's Hat. Now go south and enter the initial village. Heal if you need to, and Pray if it is necessary. Talk to the old man, and head north. Enter the Evil Lord's castle, and after a couple of scenes, you'll be given the choice to stop your journey for the sake of treasure. ...Well, if you want a humorous scene, choose "Yes" but if you do not want to lose your progress since your last save... Then choose "No". This run will get you both the "Gourmet King" Title and the "Pirate King" Title. Now for a speed run... This is incredibly easy. Just train outside of the initial village until the time gets down to 10 seconds or less. Head into the village and buy an Herb to heal, and buy another one for future use. Buy the Scale Sandals as well, and then Pray. Dash to the enemy castle, and dash into Adamas. Use the Herb when you need to. And you'll most likely beat the level in under 30 seconds. ...And that's it for the Ocean route. Fun, wasn't it? Now you can go and do the Island Route if you would like, or if you already did it, then just continue with the other levels that the sea route has planned for you. ====== OCEAN ROUTE END ===== --- Level 16-3: To the Snowy Country --- (1lvl16-3sc) Titles: Generous - Save Karen Cold-Blooded - Ignore Karen Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 15 Reward: Spike Shield Strategy: You can't get both Titles in one run. That's fine; you can just do them in separate runs! As usual. Anyways, let's save Karen first. First of all, head into the cave in the north. Then fight around until you have enough money to buy an Herb and the Silver Sword. Pray. Then enter the cave to the east and just keep entering the new caves until you reach Karen's cave. You don't need to dash in any of the battles unless you are short on time. Once you save Karen, go back to the village and Pray if you need to. Eat your Herb and buy another one. Then head into the northern caves until you get to the Evil Lord's castle. Wait back with Karen, and use your Herb when you need to. And the guy will go down soon enough. For the speed run, ignore Karen and fight your way to the village. Then beat the northern cave with the creepy crawly monsters. Come back to the village and fight until you have about ten to twelve seconds left. Buy the Silver Sword and buy an Herb to heal yourself, as well as one for the boss battle. Dash to the Evil Lord's castle while dashing through the Penguin Cave, and as soon as you get into the castle, start dashing. Heal if you need to. Being around level 10-11 is fine here; just make sure you have about five full seconds to beat the boss. After beating the boss, you'll have finished the level in the target time as well as gotten the "Tough" Title. And this is the end of the Sea Route. Jump to section (1lvl17-2ap) to continue with the game. ======== SEA ROUTE END ======= --- Level 18: White Earth --- (1lvl18whea) Titles: Duty Bound - Beat the level when you're at or under ten levels Monster Hunt - Beat at least one of every monster in the level Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Raincoat Mail Strategy: This place is different. There are no monsters here. ...So. What do we do? We dash north, that's what we do. Get to the cave in the northwest corner of the map and enter it. Don't dash in the battle, and then get back to the second village. Buy an Herb to heal yourself, and then buy another one for future use. Now enter the southeastern cave and fight monsters in the new area. Fight until you have enough money to buy the Scale Mail in the first village and the Crimson Edge in the second one. This should also land you the "Monster Hunt" Title. Keep in mind that you will probably have to dash during all of the battles so that you'll be able to accumulate enough money to buy both pieces of equipment. After getting both pieces of equipment, dash to the Evil Lord's castle. And own him. For the speed run, dash periodically over to the cave with the key in it. After getting the key, dash to the tent and heal yourself with an Herb. Buy another Herb. Periodically dash to the monster cave, and fight monsters until you're level 10. Then use your Herb and dash to the tent. Buy another Herb to heal, and buy one last Herb for the Boss battle. Dash to the Evil Lord's castle and dash into him until he is defeated. Make sure you have at least 6 full seconds to beat him before trying, or else you might not make it. This playthrough will get you under the Target Time as well as the "Duty Bound" Title. --- Level 19: Great Plains --- (1lvl19grpl) Titles: Minimum Time - Beat the level in 30 seconds Solitude - Beat the level without any allies Target Time: 0:45 minutes You > Evil Level: 25 Reward: Silent Boots Strategy: Before starting out in this battle, equip the Silver Sword. The Silver Spear is too weak, and the Silver Hammer is too heavy, so equip the Silver Sword. Also, equip the Anima Plate so that you have enough HP to defeat the boss later on. Now, let's get the speed run and both Titles... ALL IN ONE GO! Let's do this thing! Dash east immediately and then turn north to engage the cannon. Dash to the tent in the east and buy an Herb to heal yourself. Buy another one for future use. Rent the Horse for 120G, and get out of there! Remember, with a Horse, you can dash for as long as you want. So don't stop dashing from now on. Dash to the west while avoiding the Danger points and then destroy both cannons there. Circle back around to get to the northwestern corner of the map and destroy the two cannons there as well. Then enter the hole in the north and dash to the northeast corner. Defeat all of the cannons here except for the one next to the Evil Lord's castle. Now head over to the village and Pray. Heal up, buy the Red Bandana, and the Knight Lance. Dash into the castle and dash into Zain, and charge the entire time. Heal when necessary. Now that was exciting, wasn't it...? Now for one more playthrough to get the rest of the equipment. And you can also pick up all the allies for fun. The tent you first see has Richard in it, so go pick him up. Then head east and buy the Horse as well as the Herbs. Head west and pick up Karen in the tent to the north. Fight the cannons as you go along and go back to the village to buy the Kite Shield for 350G. Pray if you need to. Get Donovan in the tent in the far west, and then destroy all of the cannons, just for fun. Then buy the Knight Lance and the Red Bandana in the northern village, and then encounter Zain. Well, those allies sucked... -_- Anyways, that's it for this level! Time for the next one. --- Level 20: Floodgate Panic --- (1lvl20flpa) Titles: Tunnel Lover - Use the holes more than 25 times Nonsense - Get permission to use the private beach but then close the floodgate Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Silver Mail Strategy: To get both Titles, you're going to have to equip the Swimmer Ring. Equip it... And then head on over to the level. Now, you're going to be extremely open to attacks without having on your usual armor. So make your way across the swamp and fight next to the village. Hope you get into battle with a Goblin, or else you're going to die. So after getting into a battle with a Goblin, head into the village to heal. Do this for the entire first 30 seconds, and then you should be around level 10. Buy the Spike Mace and Pray, and then head south across the water to the little beach resort looking home. Talk to the man in the house and choose "Yes". Now head into the hole to the north of you, and you'll be taken to a place with three more holes. Go into the left hole and you'll be taken to an area with just a strip of land to another hole. Enter the next hole and face Larrie. Don't dash, because that'll waste your health. After beating Larrie, you'll get the Handles. Rush back to the original hole that you came from and then dash westwards towards the original village. Heal there and Pray. Head into the cave to the north and interact with the little house there. That will open the floodgate to the north. Now open the door there and run into the next cave. You'll see three doors. Enter the first door and you'll be taken to an area with seemingly no areas... Except you see an island to the east with two holes. Step in the one to the south to get the Bronze Helm, and then head back to the area with the three doors. Now just keep using the holes in the ground until you used them 25 or more times... And then head across the bridge to the Evil Lord's castle. Don't dash into him because you just might die. This run will get you both the "Tunnel Lover" Title and the "Nonsense" Title, as well as the Equipment. ...Time for a speed run. Now, if you don't know the trick to beating the boss, then this speed run would be pretty much impossible. However, we do know the trick to beating the boss. A single bomb brings him down to extreme critical health. So knowing that, get from where you are to the Chairman immediately. Don't get any battles. (...That means DASH LIKE HELL.) Talk to the Chairman, and then buy the Bomb from the guard. Dash to the village and heal up, and then dash to the castle. Hit the Evil Lord with the Bomb, and dash into it. You should win with around 7 seconds as your time. To unlock the north path, you have to use the floodgate without saying "Yes" to the Chairman. To unlock the southeastern path, you have to say "Yes" to the Chairman. ===== FLOODGATE ROUTE ====== (1floodr) --- Level 21-1: Giant Evil Lord --- (1lvl21-1el) Titles: Cat Snake - Kill the Cat Snake in the southeastern forest Gift Giver - Beat the level with more than 1500G Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 15 Reward: Bigfoot Strategy: You can get both Titles in one go. From where you are, just start battling a lot. Buy an Herb at the village, and then train until you have 800G, which is just enough to buy the Crimson Robe and the Orchid Helm. Then, head on over to the southeastern forest. Run around there until you encounter the Cat Snake. You'll know it when you see it because it's the only enemy that attempts to run away. So dash into it before it gets away, and that'll get you the "Cat Snake" Title. Now just train until you have more than 1500G even after healing up and Praying. Head over to the castle, and Sebastian will join you. (Don't let him join you earlier, because he just makes the battles longer by knocking back the enemies.) Dash to the castle, and dash into Degash's feet until you win. For the speed run, dash over to the northern village and buy an Herb. Then dash over to the southeastern forest and encounter the Cat Snake. Beating the Cat Snake will jump you up to level 17. So, dash back to the village and heal with another Herb, and buy all the Equipment. Dash over to the castle and dash into Degash until he's defeated. Quite an easy speed run. Now, if you want to check out the Chairman Route, read on. But if you just want to go ahead in the story, skip ahead to section (1lvl22fimo) ==== FLOODGATE ROUTE END === ====== CHAIRMAN ROUTE ====== (1chairr) --- Level 21-2: The Have-Nots --- (1lvl21-2hn) Titles: Rock Breaker - Complete the rock breaking job 10 times Battle Lord - Complete the monster slaying job 10 times Target Time: 1:00 minute You > Evil Level: 10 Reward: Evil Breaker Strategy: This place is really easy. Just go south from where you are and talk to the guard. Then exit the village and enter the hole to the north. As soon as you're in there, start dashing. Return to the village and talk to the people in the building to get your money. Heal if needed. And repeat. Pray when your time runs low. And, well, do it ten times! If you lose track of how many times you did the job, it doesn't matter; the people that pay you will let you know. Ready for the "Battle Lord" Title? Walk to the village in the east and talk to the guard there. Then talk to the people in the building, and buy an Herb. Enter the hole to the north and dash until the enemies are defeated. Repeat the same procedure as the rock breaking job, and you should be fine. After repeating that ten times as well, return to the rock-breaking village and wait until the time gets below ten seconds. Then talk to the guard in the southwestern village (DON'T PAY HIM YET) and when asked if you want to pay for the girl's share too, select "Yes". I mean, don't you feel sorry for her...? Getting beaten and whatnot? ...Or maybe you just want the sick-nasty helmet that comes with paying for her. ...Yeah, that's why I paid for her too. Anyways, the cost for heading through the door will now be 1500G. Pay that, and you'll get... THE HORNED HELM!!! That, and 60G. Now sprint to the northern village and buy the Air Sneakers. If you have enough money, heal up. Head through the door and own the boss. And that's it! (Note that if you want to continue on in the story, do not talk to Mo. If you do, you can see a funny cutscene, but it doesn't help to further the story along.) For the speed run, get over to the village in the south. Do the rock-breaking job once, and then head on over to the village in the southeast. Do the monster-slaying job until you have over 1000G. Then get back to the southern village and pay the 1000G. And... Well, the rest is pretty self-explanatory. By the time you are at the Evil Lord's castle, you should be around level 18. And thus ends the Chairman's Route. If you want to continue on in the story, read on. If you want to try out the Floodgate route, you're welcome to press the PageUp button on your keyboard to get to that level. ==== CHAIRMAN ROUTE END ==== --- Level 22: Fire Mountain --- (1lvl22fimo) Titles: Rescue - Destroy the boulders in the northwestern area Pre-Eruption - Beat the level before the volcano erupts Target Time: 0:35 minutes You > Evil Level: 15 Reward: Iron Armor Strategy: Getting both Titles is actually quite easy. Fight some battles until you can buy the Metal Helm in the village, and buy an Herb as well. Buy another one to heal yourself. Pray if the volcano already erupted. Now dash northwards and enter the two caves. Dash through both of the battles, and when you come out to the other side in each cave, dash to the rock and press X on it. Then dash through that battle as well, and after blocking the way of the eruption with both boulders, you'll get the "Rescue" Title. Wait until the volcano erupts, and then go back to check inside the saved village's shop. Buy the Tiger Blade there for 500G, and then reset the time with a Prayer. Go back down to the south village and buy an Herb to heal, as well as one for the boss battle. Then dash to the Evil Lord's castle, and dash into the molten face until he is defeated. This run will get you both Titles and also it will unlock the left path, or what I like to call the "Rescuer Path". Because you rescued the village. ...See? I'll go ahead with a speed run strategy as well. I recommend equipping the Spike Shield, the Pirate Hat, the Crimson Robe, the Knight Lance, and the Air Sneakers. You may not have these pieces of Equipment if you haven't completed all of the past missions, so if you don't just try to substitute with different pieces of Equipment that provide the maximum amount of Attack and Mobility, while being a bit on the light side. From where you are, head north to the caves. Don't dash in any of the random encounters you get; just let the enemies kill themselves by running into your Knight Lance. Once you get to the caves, enter into them but DO NOT break the boulders on the other side. You are solely going into the caves for extra experience. Although the villagers will lose their village, it's for the sake of getting under the Target Time, so they'll understand. Anyways, after clearing the caves, head south back to the original village while still killing any enemies that get in your way. (This time though, dash into them to end the battles quicker.) Buy the Metal Helm, and heal with an Herb. Get another Herb, and then Pray. Now dash over to the Evil Lord's castle and dash into him until he dies. Be sure to use your Herb when your HP gets critical. If at first you fail due to time, try improving your movements into the caves. If you fail from not being strong enough, then cut off time with your cave entrances and try to squeeze in one more level up. Or it may be that your Equipment isn't good enough. If this is the case, you may want to hold off on the speed run for now and get all the Equipment from the previous levels. Anyways, this speed run will grant you access to the path on the right, or what I like to refer to as the "Incompetent Path", for not being able to save the villagers. Of course, if you unlocked it on your speed run, you are much more than competent, but hey, you understand at what I'm getting at, right? ===== RESCUER PATH (LEFT) ===== (1rescue) --- Level 23-1: Turtle and Hermit --- (1lvl23-1th) Titles: Next Hermit - Defeat the Hermit Hard Worker - Beat the level without meeting either of the Students Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 25 Reward: Executioner Strategy: It's impossible to get both Titles in one run because in order to fight the Hermit, you need items that can only be gotten from the Students. Let's go ahead with the "Hard Worker" Title first, alright? Dash from where you are to the sparkle, and then head into the cave. Just walk into the hermit and you'll get 50G. You get 50G every time you bump into him. Use this money to Pray when your time is low, and use it to also buy Herbs and for healing. Now keep training until you're around level 20. Then heal, Pray, and buy an Herb if you don't have one. Go to the Evil Lord's castle and dash into the tree until it is defeated. Time for the "Next Hermit" run... Head over to the Hermit and battle him. Then after the battle, head east and touch the sparkle there, and then walk west and touch the sparkle in the pond there. Go back to the hermit, and you'll be able to level a lot faster. However, once you reach level 40 or higher, the Hermit will refuse to train you anymore. So you have to play this carefully. Go to the village and buy an Herb. Heal up, and go to the Hermit Cave. The trick to leveling up quickly is not holding the dash and just running backwards when you get too close to the Hermit. Train until you're around level 35-38, but be sure not to pass level 40. When you're around level 35-38, Pray, and enter the Hermit cave. Train until 4 seconds left, and then dash back to the village. Pray again, heal up, and buy an Herb if you don't have one. You should be around level 52 or so. Head into the cave, and he will ask you if you want to fight him. Say "Yes", and then once you enter the battle, dash the entire time. If you HP gets low, use your Herb. Hope that you beat him, and if you don't, then you'll just have to try again. (That or try equipping some stuff that has high Mobility and minimum Weight as opposed to Attack heavy stuff.) After beating him, you'll get the Turtle Mail and Afro Head Equipment. ...Why does a Hermit have an Afro wig...? Anyways, go and beat the Evil Lord, and you'll get the "Next Hermit" Title. (There's another way to get the "Next Hermit" Title, and this strategy allows you to train to level 50 without worrying about getting to level 38 to do one last experience run and all that jazz. This strategy was provided by Huckebein! So thank you, Huckebein! So anyways, the alternate strategy. Basically what you do is you meet up with one of the apprentices, and then meet the Sage. But don't meet up with the second one just yet. Train unti you're level 50+, because if you only have one of the apprentices' items, then the Hermit will not refuse to train you after you reach levels above level 40. Upon reaching level 50+, get to the second apprentice and then get back to the Hermit. Dash into the Hermit, and you'll win. This strategy takes quite a lot longer than the original, but it still works. You'll also have to be careful in timing when you get back to the village, because go back to early, and you don't have enough money for the next Prayer. Go back too late, and the world will end. So just keep trying with this strategy, and you'll eventually get it. Thanks again, Huckebein, for providing this strategy!) The speed run is really easy in this level. Just dash over to the Hermit, and then enter his cave. Dash into him, and then head dash to the village in the south. Heal up and buy an Herb. Dash to the Student in the east and dash to the student in the west, and then go to the cave again. Do NOT dash in this battle. Just keep attempting to flee every now and then, but then come back to keep hitting the yellow balls. When the time gets down to 6 seconds, stop and charge back to the village. Heal up and dash to the Evil Lord's castle. Dash into him and use your Herb when you need to. And voila, you got under the target time! Congrats! --- Level 24-1: Swamp and Witch --- (1lvl24-1sw) Titles: Romance - After the Witch joins you, go to the southwestern forest to meet the Hermit Careless - Get stuck in the ripples of the swamp five times or more Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 15 Reward: Bloody Axe Strategy: Getting both Titles in this level is ridiculously easy, but you're going to have to get the "Careless" Title before you get the "Romance" Title if you want to get both Titles in one run. This is simply because when you get the "Romance" Title, the swamp is cleansed of its sticky ripples. Of course, you don't need to get the "Careless" Title before you get the "Romance" Title if you're just going for one of the titles at a time... If you want to get the "Romance" Title in one run and the "Careless" Title in another, nothing's stopping you. So! Now that you know that, this should be easy to do, right? Go north and fight until you're around level 10. Then enter into the swamp and just keep running into the ripples. (To get out of a ripple, simply hold the D-Pad down in a fixed direction. After three attempts, the Hero will get out.) Heal, buy Herbs, and Pray as needed. After five attempts, get back to the village and Heal. Buy another Herb if you need to, and get the Bronze Boots as well. Now dash to the southwestern corner of the map while avoiding the ripples, and you'll see a sparkle there. Step on the sparkle. After watching the scenes that insue after stepping on the sparkle, you'll be given the Sage's Staff. This thing is a critical hit beauty. With +50 Critical Stats, this thing is an absolute monster. Not to mention it has 23 base Attack in the first place, and it weighs only 3. To call it an amazing weapon would be an understatement. Anyways, dash to the Evil Lord's castle in the north and just keep dashing into him until he is beaten. ...Stupid masochistic catfish... Anyways. Speedrunning this place can be a little bit difficult, but it's not too bad. First of all, head north and get into one battle. Dash throughout, and then head back to the village. Buy an Herb and heal yourself. Head north into the swamp and get a battle there. Do not dash. Then head straight back to the village to heal. Now go northwards and get one more swamp battle while heading to the witch's hiding place. Dash throughout. Get Catherine to help you, and then dash all the way to where the Hermit is. As soon as you regain control of the Hero, eat your Herb and dash to the village. Buy the Bronze Boots and then dash to the Evil Lord's castle. Dash through his minions and right when you get to him, stop dashing. Heal with your Herb when needed. When it gets down to the last two seconds, then start dashing. You should be able to win. --- Level 25-1: Isolated Castle --- (1lvl25-1ic) Titles: Bridge-adier - Witness the destruction of all of the bridges Bridge Lover - Beat the level with at least one bridge left Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 30 Reward: Prince Crown Strategy: Thanks to RhydiaRob, Oblivon, BlueMage82, and Shocking Alberto X, I was informed that both the "Bridge-adier" and "Bridge Lover" titles could be gotten in the same go. The following passage entails what you have to do in order to do so. First of all, start heading to the northeast portion of the map. Don't dash; there's no hurry here. Once you get to the village, just keep battling around until time runs low, and then Pray in the village. (This should be enough to trigger the "Bridge-adier" title, since all the bridges are destroyed at around 13 seconds, and this title just requires you to witness the destruction of all the bridges.) Heal up as well, and then dash to the cave in the northeast corner of the map. Enter it, and then dash through the battle there as well. When you emerge on the other side, enter the Odd Eatery and eat the Power Meal. Now dash back through the cave and across the north bridge leading to the northwest corner of the map. Encounter the monster here (which is a gigantic crab) and dash into it until it's defeated. Pick up the item in the chest and you'll get the Thunder Hat. Dash to the village directly south of you, and heal up. Get an Herb just in case. Pray here, and dash across the Bridge directly to the east of you to enter the Evil Lord's island. Enter the castle, and dash into the guy until he submits. And that's how you get both Titles in one go. It is time to speed run. So this is what you do. Walk northwards and encounter a Killer Bear in the forest. Then dash to the village in the northeast. Heal up there, and dash into the cave in the northeast. Dash through that battle as well, and then enter the village on the other side. Buy the Power-Up Meal and then exit the area. Get back to the village and Pray. Then dash westwards into the Evil Lord's castle. And own him with your Powered-Up awesomeness. Power-Up meals area amazing, aren't they? ====== RESCUER PATH END ======= ===== INCOMPETENT PATH (RIGHT) ===== (1incomp) --- Level 23-2: Golem Valley --- (1lvl23-2gv) Titles: Item Getter - Obtain the Circlet Golem Getter - Beat the battle with Golem in your party Target Time: 0:40 minutes You > Evil Level: 30 Reward: Wide Saber Strategy: Getting both Titles is easy. From where you are, just fight a single battle and then head into the village. Buy an Herb to heal, and then buy another for future use as is usual. Train until you're around level 10, and then buy the Large Shield from the village. Head through the cave in the north and get over to the northwestern corner of the map. Enter the gigantic hole to obtain the Screw, and then head back into the cave. Get back to the village, and the Golem will join you, which, unless you run out of time, will net you the "Golem Getter" Title. Now the "Item Getter" Title is also pretty easy to get. Level up until you're around level 20 or so, and then head to the northwestern hole again. Enter it and you'll fight a Wood Golem for possession of the Circlet. Just beat it with the Golem and you'll get the Circlet soon enough. Which gets you the "Item Getter" Title. Travel back to the village to heal up, and buy another Herb. Then walk down to the rock blocking your path, and press X to enter a battle with the rock. Don't dash, because you'll just be wasting HP. Let the Golem do most of the work for you. And then after the rocks are destroyed, dash into the enemy castle and kill the mole! As for the speed run, I recommend you change your Equipment until you get the most HP possible. You're going to be dashing, and you're going to be dashing a lot. So my recommendations are the Horned Helm (as usual), the Spiked Mace (for it's high Attack and relatively high critical hit chance), the Bigfoot (for +2 HP and insane Mobility), the Silver Mail (for highest amount of HP increase on equippable armor), and the Spiked Shield (for highest increase to HP while having low weight, as well as a +2 boost in Attack). Now that you're all pimped out, get ready for some grueling tries at this ridiculous Target Time... So here's the strategy. Walk north to the village and get into a battle. Dash throughout and mash X to enter the village. Then buy an Herb to heal and buy another Herb (Don't buy the food from the food vendor because it's more expensive than the Herb) for future use, and then exit the village. Sprint all the way to the big hole in the northwest corner of the map and enter it. Sprint the entire time to get the Key, and heal with your Herb when your HP runs out. Dash to the entrance to the cave, and Dash to the Golem. Then dash back to the village and heal with an Herb. Buy another Herb as well. And then Pray. Just a side note, you won't have enough money to do this, but I'll say it anyway. DO NOT BUY THE SHIELD IN THE VILLAGE. All capitals means I'm serious about this. You will lose your +2 Attack bonus from the Spike Shield, and you'll also just end up with no money left. So don't buy the Large Shield. Now exit the village and dash over to the rock. Just walk into the rock and have the Golem destroy the rocks. Then dash to the Evil Lord's castle, and wait behind the Golem until you get really close to the Evil Lord. Then dash periodically into the mole in between the times when he shoots out those boulders. Heal if you need to. And just pray to whatever god you believe in (if you believe in god at all) that you make it in time. A really hard speed run to do, and to be honest with you, it's completely impossible if you try it without having the Horned Helm equipped with the other high-HP Equipment. Trust me, I've tried. --- Level 24-2: Treasure Land --- (1lvl24-2tl) Titles: Mimic Killer - Kill the Mimics in the caves Booty Hunter - Obtain the Gale Shoes Target Time: 0:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 15 Reward: Estoc Strategy: It's kind of hard to NOT get both Titles in one run. This is because if you just search the caves in order, you're bound to fight all the Mimics and get the Gale Shoes, because the Gale Shoes are in the bottom cave. Anyways, from where you are, head north. Just walk through your battles, and then get to the oasis village in the northwest. Buy an Herb to heal, and buy another for future use. Buy the Cursed Mask as well, and Pray if needed. Then, head over to the caves. The caves are set up like this: C C C C C C The bottom cave has the Gale Shoes as well as a Mimic, and the top east cave has two Mimics. The middle-west cave has a thief in it named Scorpio who is willing to help you. So! Enter those caves and ignore the others, and then you'll get both Titles. Then enter the Evil Lord's csatle, and destroy the Evil Lord. Speed running this level is really simple. Just level up until you are level 10 or higher next to the oasis in the northwest, and buy an Herb to heal up. Buy another for the boss battle, and then buy the Cursed Mask as well. Then dash over to the boss battle and dash until the boss is defeated. A really easy level. --- Level 25-2: Another Goddess --- (1lvl25-2ag) (Note that this level will still be unplayable even if you beat all other modes or all that nonsense. You have to first of all unlock this level path by not saving the village from the volcano in the Fire Mountain Level, and then you also have to defeat 108 Evil Lords. You can repeat levels to do this, obviously.) VALHALLA KNIGHTS! Titles: Dragon Tamer - Get all 9 ultimate powers to get the Balmung Deity Power - Beat the level by yourself Target Time: 4:30 minutes You > Evil Level: 45 Reward: Strategy: This level, I'm not going to lie, can either be really fun, or really freaking frustrating. If you're trying to beat it in under the target time, it sucks. If you're trying to get all 9 ultimate powers, it sucks. If you're trying to beat the level by yourself, that REALLY sucks. And you know what sucks the most? You spend about 3 minutes per play, and then the time runs out. And then you have to start all over again. I'm not going to lie, this is a love/hate level for me, and if you hate replaying long levels, you will probably also hate this level. Anyways, you cannot get both Titles in one run. Since you have to recruit allies to get their respective ultimate powers, you won't be able to beat the level by yourself since you already relied on the help of the allies. So! Let's try out getting "Dragon Tamer" first! Equipment: Weapon - Sage's Staff Helmet - Horned Helm Armor - Turtle Mail Shield - Spike Shield Footwear - Gale Shoes Dash over to the village in the east, and talk to the man in the green shirt to accept the Grass Quest. Finish that, and come back to the village. Heal with an Herb and buy another one. Talk to the man again for another Grass Quest, and complete a Mantis Quest as well. Pray if needed. Do these quests as much as you want, but don't let the Praying fee get too high. Step into the red portal and enter the initial village. Hire the Fighter, the Thief, and the Clergy. Now head back to the other village and enter the village in the far east. Talk to all of the people, and then exit the village. Step on the blue portal and set the warp destination here. Head towards the easternmost corner of the map, and you'll see something sparkle in the water. Walk into it (since the water is shallow, you don't even need the Swimmer Ring) and you should encounter the Legendary Guardian that Yamao was talking about. Dash into it until it's defeated, and then run into the red portal to the south. Enter the village and talk to Yamao for 2500G, as well as 10G meals. If you didn't complete the other quests, hurry up and do them as well. Walk to the west a little, and head up the stairs until you're on snowy ground. Walk into the blue portal and press X on it to make it your new destination warp point. Head into the hole to the north and talk to the Chairman. Then head into the door, and then go on the left-most path. From there, get into the left cave. Enter all three of the caves to pick up a treasure at the end, and you will gain 1600G total from it. Now, enter back into the cave system, but this time, take the right-most path. If you enter all the caves here, you'll get a Hammer which is worth 10G, and a blue gem for 500G. That should clear the quest. Now, head back outside and take the western snowy path. When you see a set of stairs, walk up them and enter the cave. Take the first door, and then dash down to the bottom. You'll fight a monster in return for the Thief's Ultimate Power. Just dash and then beat it. Thief's Power: Check! Now, sprint back to the cave, and if you need to, Pray. You should use your Herb when your health gets low. Now, enter the cave again and this time, enter the second door. Do the same thing that you did with the Thief, and you'll get the Fighter's Ultimate Power. Fighter's Power: Check! Now step onto a red portal somewhere or just sprint back to the village, and talk to the lady in the igloo. Dismiss the Fighter and the Thief. Talk to the Machine, and get him to join your Party. Go back to the starting area and hire the Clergy again and the Mage as well. Now head back to the snowy village and get up the western stairs again. Head east and enter the cave there. You'll see a village. If you need to heal or Pray, do it there. Now, head north and enter the hole on the squarish platform. Run into the danger spot, and fight the oozing enemy. After beating it, it'll grant the Mage Ultimate Power. Mage's Power: Check! That's three down, six to go. Now, from where you are, head south and then west. Enter the hole to the north and enter the danger spot. Dash into the enemy and you'll get the Machine's Ultimate Power. Machine's Power: Check! Head back to the other hole, and step in the western hole this time. This will take you to the Clergy's ultimate weapon. Dash until you win, and then you'll get the Clergy's Ultimate Power. Clergy's Power: Check! Sprint back to the village and Pray and Heal if you need to. Now step in a red portal if you can find one, or just head back to the snowy village. Disband the party. Head back to the eastern cave that you just came out of, except this time enter the hole that is to the south of it. Just follow the holes until you eventually come to a forest. Enter the clearing in the forest and press X. Dash to the village and talk to the Traveler. Then sprint to the cave in the east and dash into the monster until it dies. Get back to the village and talk to the Traveler again. He'll join you, and he'll reveal himself as the Enchanter. Now hire the Ninja, and buy the Crystal for a whopping 2000G in the shop. Then buy an Herb from the girl if you need to. Enter the red portal and get sent back to the snowy village. Ninja's Power: Check! All that is left are the Dog's Ultimate Power, the Enchanter's Ultimate Power, and your own Ultimate Power. So now, let's get the Dog. Head west and fight a battle on the snowy square. You'll fight the Dog. After beating it, the Dog will join you. Nice! Now Head north and enter the hole. Then head south, and dash into the enemy until it dies. The Dog will get its Ultimate Power. Dog's Power: Check! Now to get the Enchanter's Ultimate Power, head into the treasure cave again. Take the right path, and then take the middle door. Take the hole that is a little bit to the northeast of the other western hole. Then dash down and get the Enchanter's Power. Enchanter's Power: Check! Nice! Now all you have to do is get your own Power. Note that you cannot get this unless you have already gotten all of the other people's powers. So... get back to the snowy village, and then head back to the sunken village. Get to the last remaining Danger spot in the east, and then battle the guy there. If you have less than 25 seconds, then don't battle this guy. Heal with your Herb if you need to. After the battle, you'll get Balmung. Hell ******* Yes. Your Power: Check! Now head back to the sunken village to stock up on Herbs, and Pray. Enter the hole right next to the village, and Dash to the other end and get into the cave. Enter the Evil Lord's castle, and dash until she is defeated. Congratulations. You got the Balmung Title. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Whew! Onwards to the "Deity Power" Title. (Sorry for the little barrier above this; I had to separate these two sections with something or I would have gone insane from trying to distinguish the two strategies. :P) Anyways, this is considerably easier than "Dragon Tamer". Just head on over to Quest village and do the quests until you have around 12000G or so, just to be on the safe side. Then go to the far east village and do the Legendary Guardian Quest. Head back to Quest village and do quests until you have around 17000G, and then head into sunken village. Stop by the snowy village if you need to if you need to Pray and heal. Then at the snowy village, enter the hole that is right next to the village. Train in the path that the hole leads to until you're level 45, and then head back to the sunken village to heal, buy an Herb for the boss battle, and Pray. Then own the boss. Simple as that. And finally, the speed run. This is actually pretty difficult because you have to allot your time to certain things. Should you be saving up on money so that you can Pray whenever you want to? ...Well, I'll help you out a bit here. That's why I made this guide. So! Periodically dash over to the Quest Village, and then heal up there. Purchase an Herb as well. Accept both quests, and only fight on the grass. If you fight in the forest, you'll probably most likely die. Dash at all times so that you don't waste time; you can spare the extra 30G for the Herb. After finishing the grass quest, go back to the village and accept the grass quest again. Fight in the forest until time gets low, and then Pray. Finish the grass quest twice and the mantis quest once. Then dash over to the seaside village. Pray there if you need to. Accept all the quests, and then make the portal there your destination portal. Dash to where the Legendary Guardian is and attack it at first chance. Dash into it until it is defeated, and then run around on the beach to look for the keys. Enter the red portal when your time gets low, and Pray at the village. Talk to Yamao, and then head back outside to finish the quest with the screw parts. After finishing that, talk to Machine and then dash over to the snow village. Make the blue portal here your destination portal. Heal at the snow village, and Pray if you need to. Do not hire Machine yet. Get over to the hut where the Ninja and the Enchanter are. Talk to the Enchanter, and buy an Herb at the place. Kill the monster in the cave, and talk to the Enchanter again. Hire the Ninja and get his Crystal. Then step into the red portal. From here, power up the Enchanter. (If you forgot how to, scroll up a little to the part that describes getting the Enchanter his Ultimate Power.) Dash over to the sunken village, and buy an Herb there to heal yourself. Pray if you need to. Then head into the northwestern-most hole and get Machine's Ultimate Power. Head back to the village and enter the hole right next to it. Fight battles here until your time runs low, and then get back to the sunken village to heal. Train for a full minute, and then head back to the sunken village to buy an Herb for healing, and one for the Boss Battle. Pray. And then get ready for the moment of truth! Dash into the hole next to the village, and then dash over to the Judgment Goddess' castle. Don't dash into her, just let the auto-battle do the work. Heal when you need to, and when it gets down to around 10 seconds, then start dashing. If your HP gets too low, then just stay back and hope that Machine is able to take the Goddess down. ...You want to get an even lower time? Well, Kwing outlined a strategy that got him under 3:57 on this level. Which is pretty damn fast. His strategy in his own words is below. .--------------------------------------------------------------------. | SPEED RUN STRATEGY #2 | | I have managed as low as 3:57, but I have a shorter time on Hard | | Mode. When I did that run, I chose Mage, Thief, and Machine. My | | reasoning was that Thief and Mage use ranged weapons and won't get | | killed when fighting Judgment, and the Machine is slow but deals | | ridiculous damage. While he won't be good for grinding missions, | | this will make him extremely good against Judgment. I dashed to | | the second town and beat the Grass monster quest once, then went | | back to the town and hired the Thief and Mage. Of course, the next | | thing I did after that was defeat the Guardian for the massive | | Gold, and beat the quest for the Machine. I may or may not have | | gotten the Seaweed quest in the meantime. The weapon for the Thief | | is right by the cave in the frozen area, so I went for that next, | | then ground until level 20 or so before going into the underground | | area. The enemies there don't give the best experience, so it's a | | really bad waste of time if they deal more than 1 damage to you in | | there, because you're burning a lot of HP for not much experience | | in return. So while I was in there I got the other two ultimate | | weapons, then ground a little bit until I was in my mid-30s I | | think, then I went for Judgment. The Machine is the key here. | '--------------------------------------------------------------------' Finally. Valhalla Knights 30. Is done. Take a break from the game and rest your eyes. Think that was fun? If you did, you'll really like the Hero 300 Mode. ===== INCOMPETENT PATH END ===== --- Level 26: Grand Wings --- (1lvl26grwi) Titles: Grinder - Beat the level while at level 30 or higher Cursed Shoes - Get the Duel Greaves Target Time: 0:50 minutes You > Evil Level: 25 Reward: Ice Shield Strategy: This is really easy. From where you are, walk northeast and examine the sparkle in the forest. Walk to the tree in the north to get the Dragon Leaf, and return to Syldonix. Now, ride him to the village in the west. Pray here if you need to, and buy the Royal Guard. Head into the village in the north and buy an Herb. Heal if needed. Enter the cave to save the Boy Dragon, and then enter the cave to the east to save the Girl Dragon. Dash the entire time when on Syldonix because dashing doesn't use any HP. Now head south and enter the cave that has an entrance with water in front of it. Dash the entire time, and you'll get the Duel Greaves. This will get you the "Cursed Shoes" Title. Head back to the village with the Herbs to heal up and Pray, and then just keep battling in the air until you reach level 30. And then fly over to the Evil Lord's castle. Dash into him until he's defeated. Time for a speed run! You have 50 seconds to complete this level. Periodically dash over to where Syldonix is, and then get him his Dragon Leaf. Climb onto him immediately, and dash-fly over to the Herb village. Buy an Herb to heal, and another one for future use. Level up until time reaches ten seconds, and then save both of the dragons. Pray at the village. Battle for another ten seconds or so and dash-fly south to pick up the Royal Guard. Then dash-fly back to the village for a last heal and one more future-use Herb. Infiltrate the Evil Lord's castle, and dash until Hyad is defeated. Use your Herb if necessary. Another strategy for a speed run is to bring the Balmung with you, and just dash over to Syldonix. After that, only dash during the battles, and do not buy the Shield. This strategy should get you a better time than the one above; I was able to get a 41.72 with it. This additional speed-run strategy was provided by Kwing (and he was able to get an insane 37.98 using this strategy). That wasn't that bad, was it? It's nice to have a break every once in a while. Now, concerning the Duel Greaves. They really are cursed. You can't flee anymore. Now they may be amazing shoes and all that, but that takes all of the Flee - periodic hit strategy out of the levels. It's your choice if you want to give up fleeing, but you can always unequip them if things don't go your way. Now, onwards to the next mission! --- Level 27: Farewell Bandit Trio --- (1lvl27fabt) Titles: Silver Lover - Obtain the Silver Sarit Fake Killer - Defeat 10 or more clones of Lord Larrie Target Time: 0:50 minutes You > Evil Level: 25 Reward: Light Armor Strategy: This is actually one of my favorite missions for some reason. I don't know why, maybe because there's character development in the level. Anyways, you don't care about that. Let's get on with that strategy! For this battle, do not equip the Duel Greaves. It will be next to impossible to get the "Fake Killer" Title if you do. However, if you plan on following this strategy to the word, it's okay to go in with the Duel Greaves because you'll be buying new shoes anyway. So from where you are, enter the village to the north. Talk to Mo and Cully, and then battle your way to the village in the northeast. Heal yourself with an Herb, and buy another for future use. At around 15 seconds, a hole will open up just east of the village. Enter it, and then enter the hut that you get to. Buy the Iron Boots for 300G, and then head southwards. Get back to one of the villages and Pray. Then battle around until the timer is down to 15 seconds again, and enter the hole in the west this time. Enter the tower, and dash until the bird is defeated. Now dash-fly south and enter the cave all the way in the south. Dash through all the Mic-mics and you'll get the Silver Sarit at the end. This will get you the "Silver Lover" Title. Now dash-fly to the nearest village to Pray, and then buy an Herb at the seaside village for your Boss Battle. You probably won't need it, but just to be on the safe side. Get over to the enemy castle, and fight Larrie. Don't dash though. When you get close to him, start fleeing. Count the clones you kill, and after killing 10, dash into Larrie until he's defeated. Now for the speed run. Fly straight north and dash through the battles you get. Get over to the seaside village and buy an Herb there to heal, and another for future use. Quickly make your way over to the northwestern hole, and enter it as soon as you can. Get into the tower, and dash until the bird is defeated. Then, dash-fly south to the eastern village and get another Herb. Heal if you have to. After stocking up on the Herbs, dash-fly to the castle and dash the entire time. You should be able to get around 28 seconds with this method. --- Level 28: Infinite Weapon Lord --- (1lvl28inwl) Titles: Sword Keeper - Obtain the Giant's Axe and Sea Spear Sword Killer - Beat the level without getting the Giant's Axe or Sea Spear Target Time: 0:40 minutes You > Evil Level: 20 Reward: White Horse Strategy: Alright, seeing as you can't get both Titles in one go, I'll provide the strategies as usual. As is the custom. Anyways, let's go with the "Sword Keeper" Strategy first. Dash-fly to the second village and ignore the first one. Buy an Herb there, and dash-fly to the cave in the northwest. You'll see it soon enough; a river of lava leads to it. Dash the entire time throughout the battle, and then heal with your Herb when your HP gets low. Now fight battles until the time gets close to 15 seconds and then Pray at the nearest possible village. Fight some more until you have at least 5000G, but make sure not to go past 15 seconds, or else Francisca will steal the weapon from you. Buy the Giant's Axe from the soldier, and then dash-fly to the Herb-selling village. Buy an Herb to heal and an Herb for later, and dash-fly to the village in the east. (Again, make sure to not let the time go beneath 15 seconds.) Talk to the soldier there, and then fly north. Fly above the water there, and when you encounter an enormous shark-like monster, dash into it and kill it. Then dash-fly back to the east village and talk to the soldier to get the Sea Spear. This will get you the "Sword Keeper" Title if you beat the level. Now heal at the Herb village and buy another Herb. Get over to the Evil Lord's castle and own the Evil Lord. Now for the "Sword Killer" Title. Really easy. Just grind and grind until you're level 20, and then beat the Evil Lord. Simple as that. The speed run is also very easy. Dash-fly over to the Herb village and buy an Herb, and then get the Giant's Axe as soon as possible. Ignore the Sea Spear and just ram into Francisca until she's defeated. Now, on to the second to last level... My favorite level in Hero 30. Here's another speed run strategy provided by Kwing. Bring the Dragon Lance along with you, and dash-fly to the cave in the northwest. Dash through the battle and then dash-fly to the path below the pool of lava directly south of the cave. Now encounter battles here, and dash through them. It should only take two to get 5000G. Now enter the village to the left and buy the weapon from the guard. Heal up by eating the 30G meal, and head outside. Fight one more battle on the path, and then dash-fly to the center village to heal up and grab an Herb. Now, dash to the castle and dash into the Evil Lord until she's beaten. This should get you around 20 to 21 seconds, which is a significant improvement on the other speed run strategy. --- Level 29: Cursed Hero --- (1lvl29hero) !!!WARNING!!! (In order to explain how to get the Titles, I have to spoil some of the plot here. This is arguably the most moving level of the game, and as such, I would not want to spoil it for you. So, just go try and beat this on your own and if you really can't beat it or can't make sense of it, THEN come here. Not before. Enjoy this level. You're almost at the end of Hero 30.) Titles: True Hero - Refrain from killing the last zombie in the southern town and get the Hero's Blade Liar - Kill the last zombie in the southern town... *cries* Target Time: 1:50 minutes You > Evil Level: 30 Reward: Lord Mail Strategy: If you're going to get the "True Hero" Title first, don't equip the Duel Greaves. Okay? Got that? DON'T! If you do, you'll feel like a person driving on a road with a fast-moving truck behind you and a cute innocent fawn in front of you. I think you get the point. So from where you are, enter the blue castle and talk to the King. Then enter the village to the north and talk to the girl with an exclamation point above her head. Then head northwards while killing enemies, and attempt to cross the bridge. When getting into battle with the guys, you don't need to dash. Especially if your health is low. So just let auto-battle do it all. After the battle and the scene, train in the swamp until you have enough money to buy both the Gaia Helm and the Glass Shield. Heal up, Pray if you need to, and then head south to the village. Enter it, and then talk to Sasha. Now head to the north bridge, and then after the short scene, enter the Evil Lord's castle. Don't dash; it's not worth it. After beating the Evil Lord, head to the village right below where you bought the Gaia Helm and the Glass Shield. Talk to Sasha again. After the scene, cross the north bridge and get to the Monument. Watch some more scenes. Travel to the clearing in the forest below. Heal and Pray at the village first if you need to though. At the forest, watch the scenes that follow, and you'll be given the "Rusted Sword" as well as a "Yes" or "No" choice. Don't be a jerk. Choose "Yes". Even if you don't mean it... Anyways, head north and break the Monument. ...The amazing music is gone... Dammit. Whatever, get to the Evil Lord's castle in the south. Before you enter it though, buy an Herb and heal up. Pray as well. When you try to get to the castle, you will have to stop by the village. When you're here... Kill all of the zombies except for the one staying behind. This is why you did not equip the Duel Greaves. Stay in battle, but flee from time to time so that you DO NOT touch the zombie. After a certain amount of time, the battle will stop itself. And you'll get the Hero Sword, as well as the "True Hero" Title. Now go beat that Reaper Evil Lord. For the "Liar" Title, you do exactly the same thing. Make sure you answer "Yes" to Sasha's question in the forest. But now, when you go back to the southern village, kill *cringe* all the zombies. Including the last one. Yeah, it sucks. You'll get the "Liar" Title. You'll also keep the Rusted Sword. And now, it's time to speed run this baby. You have 1:50 minutes. ...Go! Walk to the southern village and fight one battle outside of it. Then eat the food in the village and talk to Sasha. Walk to the north bridge while dashing through the battles. Dash through the bridge battle as well, and then dash down south to the southern village. Eat the food again (it's cheap) and talk to Sasha. Now head north again, but this time, dash. Defeat the Evil Lord and then Pray. Then level up for a full 30 seconds in the swamp, and then head into the village again to Pray and talk to Sasha. Dash to the Monument. Now, dash down to the forest and select "Yes". Then dash northwards and eat the food in the swampy village. Break the Monument Seal and then dash southwards. Enter the southern village, and dash through the zombies, but leave the last one alone. Get the Hero Sword, and then heal at the initial village. Pray as well. Then enter the Evil Lord's castle and dash until he is defeated. (Now are you happy you didn't use the Herb 'til now? :P) And thus ends the Cursed Hero level. --- Level 30: Last Battle --- (1lvl30last) Titles: Brave - Obtain all the Brave Gear Portable - Beat the level with the Porta Statue Target Time: 2:00 minutes You > Evil Level: 35 Reward: Strategy: Getting both Titles in one go is easy. Just make sure you have your best Equipment equipped, and get ready! Train in the first area until you're level 20 or so, and then head into the tower in the northwest. Donovan will join your side. Just dash through the battle. From this battle, you'll get the Brave Crown. If you have more than ten seconds left, head into the cave in the north. Sebastian will join you, and after the battle you'll get the Porta Statue. Pray at the first village and heal if you need to. Now head to the southeastern village and talk to Rex there to pick him up. Head north into the cave, and then head south. Walk down the stairs and get into the next cave. Dash into the monster until it's defeated, and Scorpio will join you. You'll also get another piece of the Brave Gear set! Now dash as fast as you can back to Rex's village to Pray. Then heal at the initial village. From here, head into the northeast corner of the map and enter the little canoe. Dash through the battle and Hank will join you. You will also get the Shine Shield. Now head into the village to the south of you, and pick up Barbara and Richard. Pray, and head west. In the northwestern corner of the map is another village. Talk to Dain to get him to join, and heal up. Pray if you need to. Now get back to the tunnel that led to the place where you got Scorpio. Walk into the village to the south. Talk to Catherine to let her join, and talk to Natalie to get her to join as well. Heal up, and then encounter the enemy to the south by walking into it. Just dash the entire time and you should beat it very quickly. Now head up the stairs to the Evil Lord's castle and beat the Guardian there as well. Pray if you need to, and then enter the hole that is to the west of the Evil Lord's castle. This will lead you to the final cave. Enter it, and defeat the enemy there to let Karen join you. You'll also get the Brave Blade. Head back into the hole, and then Pray and heal at the village. Enter the Evil Lord's castle, and dash into the Overlord until he is defeated. ...And that's the end of Hero 30. Ready for a speed run? Now beware, this level's speed run ranks among the tougher ones. Anyways, let's do this. Walk north, and just walk into any monsters that come your way. Walk around just north of the village, and train until you're level 10. Pray and heal in the village, and then dash over to Donovan's tower. Beat all the guys there (you don't have to dash) and then head over to Sebastian's cave. Beat all the guys there (again, you don't have to dash) and then dash back to the village. Heal up, and start training. When you reach level 20, fight the guardian to the north. Just dash into it until it's defeated. Then dash over to the village and recruit Catherine and Natalie. After that, train in the grassy area (dash throughout all battles) until you're around level 25, and then heal up in the village. Pray whenever you need to; you have way more than enough money. Then head into Scorpio's cave and dash into the guy until he's defeated. Then beat the guardian that's blocking the way to the castle, and Pray and heal. Level up in the grass until you're level 33, and then Pray and Heal again. Sprint to the castle, and dash the entire battle. Just hope you make it in time. Congratulations. You've successfully gotten all Titles and beaten all Target Times in Hero 30. Now, it's time to move onto the next game mode; Evil Lord 30. Have fun! :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: EVIL LORD 30 :::::::::::::::::::::::::(3evl30) Ahh, Evil Lord 30. This game mode is really entertaining and fun. It's the second game mode you'll be playing (unless you want to play Princess 30 first, or if you are playing this instead of Hero 30 first...), and it involves using strategy in just 30 seconds. Sounds fun, right? It is. However, this game mode passes by much faster than Hero 30, so don't expect this to be some sort of epic adventure. It's just a way to pass one century to eventually get to battle Noire again. :P Now that that's out of the way, let the strategies begin! (Just a couple things to remember. There are no Titles in any of the game modes except for Hero 30. So you won't have to go around searching for any stuff to do solely for the sake of getting a Title. That being said, there are still ranks for each level, so I'll try to cover the strategy that will get you that best rank.) Start up the mode, and choose yourself a name. Then, watch the following scenes. And then get ready for a battle. When asked if you want a tutorial on how the battles work, choose "Yes". This will explain the battle system, and tell you how to summon monsters and whatnot. You can summon 3 types of monsters. Strong Brutes, who you summon by pressing O. The Triangle button will summon fast Nimbles. And the Square button will summon ranged magic Shooters. There also three types of humans, who have the same types as your summoned monsters. This makes it so that you have to plan which summoned monster you use to best combat the enemy. Enemy Bandits are Nimbles, and Magic does not work well against Nimbles. However, Brutes kill Nimbles really fast. Shooters kill Brutes fast, and Nimbles kill Shooters. Like Rock Paper Scissors. Anyways, pressing X will allow your summoned monsters to charge. Another thing to keep in mind is that the longer you wait to summon your monsters, the more powerful they'll be. If you just keep mashing the buttons, you'll get a lot of weak monsters. However, the monsters stop getting stronger after a while. You can tell if the symbol around the Evil Lord is completely filled with the purple shade. The last thing to remember is that if you get hit by any enemy, your symbol will decrease in size. This will lower the amount of power you can pack into each summoned monster you make. Which means that your monsters will drop down in level. So don't get hit. (I skillfully rewrote the information in the tutorial, didn't I...? XD) --- Level 1: At Violet Castle --- (2lvl1atvio) Objective: Defeat all of the Bandits So. This level is basically a tutorial level. In order to get the Beautiful Evil Lord rank, you have to just beat the level. There's no time limit. Simple. Walk over to the Bandits and press O on them. The monsters follow you around, so you'll have to walk over to the people. And you'll be done soon enough. --- Level 2: Village at the Base --- (2lvl2viatb) Objective: Destroy the statue Millenia will tell you that the lumberjacks are Brute-type enemies. You know what that means! Start using your Shooters! As for the Statue, once you defeat the enemies, you can just use anything on that. This level is actually also very easy. Just wait until the symbol is filled with purple, and then start summoning Shooters. (Remember, you have to periodically summon monsters in order to keep them at full power. Don't just mash the button.) Move slowly forward as you accumulate an army of Shooters. The Shooters will automatically target the Statue... And it'll break. Yay! --- Level 3: Path --- (2lvl3path-) Objective: Defeat all enemies Millenia will give you a tutorial about Magic Power (basically what I already talked about concerning the circular symbol the Evil Lord is standing on). After that, walk to the right and start summoning more Shooters. Walk up and down the left side of the open area and summon your monsters so that you can cover the entire area. Then hunt down any stragglers with your Shooters. And that's basically it. --- Level 4: Large Town --- (2lvl4large) Objective: Destroy two Noire statues You'll chance upon a meeting with the Time Goddess here. Choose "Yes" when she asks you a question, and she'll tell you that she's opening up a shop that stops time. She calls it the "Time-Stop-Shop". ... Whatever. Anyways, the concept behind this thing is that when you get low on time, you can go over to the shop and rewind time. However, knowing the Goddess, this means you have to pay some fee as well... Anyways, you get money by defeating enemies. So if you ever need to rewind time, be sure you have at least some money since her services cost all of your money. ...Yeah, you heard right. ALL of your money. So don't use her services if you want to deposit money into Millenia's Bank, which I will go into more depth later. Now to beat this level, head right. Start summoning strong Brutes on the Nimbles there, and then summon some Brutes onto the Statue to destroy it. Some Nimbles come out from the houses, so if you want to save yourself the trouble, just destroy the houses with your Brutes. Then, walk west and start summoning Shooters. Try to encircle the army of Brutes with your Shooters so that they are attacked from all sides, and then after taking care of the Brutes, summon some more Brutes onto the last Noire statue. And you're done. (Remember, if you want to earn money, you have to pick up the tokens... So pick them up.) Now, time to explain the Millenia Bank. If you save up money from levels, then you can deposit it into the Millenia Bank. After collecting a certain amount, you can level up at the Goddess Spa. So collecting money is actually important. If you defeated all the enemies in this level and collected all of the tokens, you'll automatically level up at the World Map screen. The game will tell you that "You got sexier at the Goddess Spa!" ...And that makes us level up...? If you feel like you're under-leveled at a point in the game, you can always replay previous levels to get more G. Anyways, head on to the next level. --- Level 5: Small Fort --- (2lvl5small) Objective: Destroy one Noire Statue At the beginning of the level, Millenia will inform you that the archers are Shooter types. Go ahead and start summoning high level Nimbles on them. Move towards the Nimbles guarding the statue, and destroy the cannons by summoning Brutes on top of them. Be careful not to get hit by the balls the cannons shoot. If you walk into the area to the right of the bottom cannon, you'll find the Wandering Jelly, which will help you win. When you get to the archers surrounding the statue, make sure that you have at least some Nimbles in front of you for arrow fodder. Letting your monsters die is a lot better than being hit yourself, selfish as that sounds. You have to be careful around the archers protecting the statue, because the arrows come at you no matter where you try to get to. So just plow through with an army of your Nimbles and hope you can get to the Statue in time. --- Level 6: Spirit Path --- (2lvl6spirp) Objective: Defeat the Minister Millenia will tell you that wild monsters wandering in each level can actually be allies. If you allow your mana symbol to touch them, then they will join you. So when you get control of Evil Lord, gather the Mammoths to the left and head north. Walk through the path and gather all of the birds as well. Now, when you exit the path, Reinforcements will come in the form of Archers. So start summoning Nimbles. Gather all the coins, and stay behind your army of monsters. The Minister will be finished off soon enough. Now, you have the choice to either get the Fabulous Foursome (...perverted much...?) or head on with the story. If you want to head on with the story, read on. If not, then skip down to the 16th level and read from there up to the end of level 23, and then return to level 7. --- Level 7: Cobbled Bridge --- (2lvl7coblb) (Note that if you don't have the Fabulous Foursome, you can still beat these levels. The Foursome just make it a bit easier.) Objective: Defeat Bill the Assassin Easier than you think it is. Really. As soon as you can move, summon Brutes. Move toward the Nimbles and let the Brutes go to work. After finishing off the Nimbles, start summoning Shooters and head south to take care of the enemy Brutes. Bill will start walking toward you, and it is then that you can surround him with an army of Brutes. He'll go down in about 5 seconds. --- Level 8: Coastline --- (2lvl8coast) Objective: Rescue the Purple-Haired Girl Take control of the jellyfish in the north and then start summoning Brutes. Take care of the enemy nimbles and then go on to summon Nimbles. Be careful and avoid the enemy archer's arrows. After accumulating about 5 of your own Nimbles, order a Charge to take care of the Archers since they are the most dangerous enemy unit. Then take care of the enemy Brutes with your Shooters. As time runs low, summon as many Shooters as you can and get your Brutes to just charge the other enemy Brutes. Get over to the Purple-Haired girl and touch her to end the level. A slightly more difficult level, but still not all that bad. In order to get a Beautiful Evil Lord Title, Summon one Brute to take care of the enemy Nimbles, and then make the jellyfish charge the Archers. Make more Nimbles if you need to, and then immediately start summoning Shooters to distract the enemy Brutes. Ignore them though, and just go for the Purple-Haired Girl. If you get under 20 seconds, you'll get the Beautiful Evil Lord rank. After finishing this level, you'll unlock levels 24-29. They branch off from level 4. If you want to play those levels, skip down to level 24 and read on up until the end of level 29. However, if you want to keep continuing on in the story, just keep reading. --- Level 9: Large Fort --- (2lvl9lgfrt) Objective: Destroy the Noire Statue Wait until your mana symbol is full, and then summon a Shooter. Summon about 4 of them and have the take on the Brutes. Don't head north just yet though; amass a group of about 5 Nimbles and then have them charge northward. Trust me, there's a group of Archers up there. Dangerous things. Anyways, when the Archers' numbers dwindle to about two, start summoning more Shooters to take care of the enemy Brute reinforcements. While the enemy Brutes are distracted, summon a high-level Brute on the Noire Statue, and you'll destroy it. Easy. --- Level 10: Town Square --- (2lvl10twns) Objective: Defeat Clive the Mercenary Start summoning Brutes, and get them to charge into the enemy Nimbles. Summon some Nimbles yourself, and when you finish taking care of the Nimbles, take your Nimbles and have them charge north to the Archers. Clive will start running towards you, so summon some Brutes to take him on. If you want to, you can discover the Wandering Jelly in this level as well. He's in the middle of the area. So anyways, after this battle, you'll get a lot of money because there are a lot of enemies in this battle. --- Level 11: Maze Fort --- (2lvl11maze) Objective: Defeat Noire This is actually really easy. Summon one or two Nimbles and have them dash eastward to the Archers there. Then summon another Nimble and have it dash into the cannon that's blocking the way to Noire. When you reach Noire, have a Brute sit on him, and you'll discover... It's not Noire at all. ...You didn't actually think that you were going to face Noire here, did you? --- Level 12: Castle Town --- (2lvl12cast) Objective: Destroy 5 Noire Statues Start summoning Brutes. Have them kill the two enemy Nimbles in the north and then have them break the Noire statue. Send some of them charging into the eastern room, but don't go in there yourself. Do the same for the room in the west. Now head northwards, and summon a Brute onto the Nimbles there. Then send your Brutes charging into the statue on the left and the statue on the right. (The reason I'm telling you to charge them into the rooms is that if you go in the rooms yourself, you'll be completely surrounded by enemies. Not a good situation to find yourself in.) --- Level 13: Castle Gates --- (2lvl13caga) Objective: Destroy the Noire Statue Gather the Bird Monsters, and then start summoning Brutes. Avoid the Archers because you can't get to them. Then, have all of your Brutes charge into the building in the north, and have them recharge to destroy the Noire Statue. Another really easy level. --- Level 14: Great Hall --- (2lvl14grha) Objective: Defeat the Minister This is one of the harder levels. You start out in the middle of the map and are surrounded by many enemies. The Nimbles aren't much of a threat though. It's the line of Archers that are Protected by Brutes. You're going to have to summon a lot of Shooters to take care of them, and then when the enemy Brutes show a gap in their defenses, start sending in Nimbles. When your time gets low, Pay at the Goddess Store. As long as you get under 1:00 in this, then you'll get the Beautiful Evil Lord rank. You can also find the Wandering Jelly near the top of the walkway (not at the top of the screen). You don't need to find it though; it's just there for some extra help. --- Level 15: King's Room --- (2lvl15king) Objective: Defeat the King Alright. There are only two units you will be needing to win this battle. The Shooter and the Brute. The Brute will take care of Clive and the Nimbles, and the Shooter will take care of Bill and the Brutes. So when the battle starts, summon about 4 Brutes and send them charging north towards the enemy Nimbles on the right. Then consistently summon Shooters to take care of the Brutes and Bill. Bill will probably come for you first, so surround him with Shooters until he is defeated. When Clive comes at you, turn towards him and pop a fully-powerful Brute in his face. That'll probably take care of him. After that is done, get all of your units to charge north to the King. He should be defeated by then. If you keep losing due to time constraints, then in the beginning of the level after you summon your Brutes and let them charge, Pay at the Time-Stop-Shop the first chance you get. That should be enough time for you to get under the Beautiful Evil Lord Target Time, and it should also be enough time for you to defeat Bill, Clive, and the King. Now, all that's left to do is defeat Noire at level 30. You can either do that... Or you can keep reading and get the Fabulous Four. And then you can do the side levels that branch off of level 4. If you've already done those, there's no need to stay here. Skip down to section (2lvl30noir) if you want to play the last level. --- Level 16: Forest Entrance --- (2lvl16fore) Objective: Defeat the Lumberjacks This is a really easy level. Simply summon as many high level Shooters as you can while walking around and hunting down the Lumberjacks. Use the mini-map to locate them, and just leave a Shooter next to each one. Really, really easy level. --- Level 17: Spirit Forest --- (2lvl17spir) Objective: Save the Earth Spirit Another really easy level. Summon about 4 full-leveled Shooters, and send them charging northwards. Then summon around 3 Nimbles and then keep summoning Nimbles while walking north. Archer reinforcements will come, so let your Nimbles take care of them. While all your monsters are fighting, just head north and touch Demetria of Earth. And you're done. (For a speed run, just summon two Shooters and send them charging north. Then summon more Shooters around you and head north while being protected by them. After killing the Lumberjacks, just go up and touch Demetria while ignoring the Archers.) After the battle, Demetria will explain what her powers do. So! Seems pretty useful, right? When those pesky Archers are getting in your way, you can use Demetria's Power by touching her and pressing the R button to stop them. Of course, she would need to be in the area, but that's besides the point. Now on to get the Water Spirit! --- Level 18: Waterfront --- (2lvl18watf) Objective: Defeat the Hunters Use the same strategy as you did with level 16, except this time, use Nimbles. ...That's all I can really say here, really; it's extremely easy. --- Level 19: Spirit Lake --- (2lvl19spir) Objective: Save the Water Spirit Summon a lot of high-level Nimbles and head west on the southern path. Gather any wild monsters on the southern path as well. At the southwestern corner of the map, there is a group of enemy archers. Direct all of your Nimbles there as you stay behind to be protected from the Archers. Then, get your Nimbles to charge into the barrier to break it. Touch the Water Spirit, and you're done. (For a speed run, summon some Nimbles and gather the monsters in the southern area, and have them charge all the way to the other side. When you get there, summon more Nimbles to defeat all the Archers. As soon as the Archers are defeated, send them into the rocks and touch the Water Spirit. If your timer is above 10 seconds, then you'll have the Beautiful Evil Lord rank.) You already know how to use Spirit's powers, so I'm not going to explain it here. Let's move on. --- Level 20: Windy Path --- (2lvl20wind) Objective: Defeat all enemies Again, same strategy as both levels 16 and 18, except with Brutes. However, be careful to not run into the barricades; charge your monsters into them instead. Otherwise, you'll be damaged and your maximum mana will drop. --- Level 21: Spirit Valley --- (2lvl21spva) Objective: Follow the Wind Spirit This level is a bit annoying at first, but it isn't so bad. Summon some Shooters and have them kill the Brutes in the northeastern part of the map. Summon some Brutes in case the enemy Nimbles come after you, and try and track down the fast-moving red dot on the map. Touch the Wind Spirit, and you'll add him to your army of Spirits. --- Level 22: Volcano Fort --- (2lvl22volc) Objective: Destroy the Noire statue ...Getting tired of the same strategy every other level? ...Well, this is slightly different. There will be enemy Brutes and enemy Archers, so prepare accordingly. Also, there are some cannons to take care of, so summon some Nimbles to charge into those. Now, keep summoning more and more Nimbles and Shooters to take care of the Brutes and the Archers, and then when you get to the ending area, have all of your monsters charge the Noire Statue. You should be able to get under the Target Time and get the Beautiful Evil Lord rank. --- Level 23: Spirit Mountain --- (2lvl23spmo) Objective: Defeat the Minister Another really easy level. Just send a bunch of Shooters upwards towards the line of Brutes, and then when you see a gap in their defenses, rush in and pop a full-powered Brute on top of the Minister. Very effective at defeating humans. And that will be it. Now, you can keep reading to cover the "Millenia Substory". Or you can skip to Level 30 to beat the Evil Lord story mode. Your choice. --- Level 24: Path to the Past --- (2lvl24pttp) Objective: Rescue the girl All you have to do to beat this level is summon Shooters while walking toward the end of the path. Reach the girl, and touch her. (...That sounds really perverted. Sorry about that.) That's all there is to do. --- Level 25: Forest of Memories --- (2lvl25foms) Objective: Rescue the girl This is a bit harder, but not by much. Summon Shooters and charge them at the first group of Lumberjacks. Summon some Nimbles and some Brutes, because Reinforcements will appear when you reach the middle of the area. When it seems like their numbers are dwindling, charge everyone to the right, and head for the girl in the confusion. --- Level 26: Village of Laws --- (2lvl26viol) Objective: Rescue the girl Head northeast while summoning Brutes, as well as the occasional Shooter. Then follow the girl and touch her. --- Level 27: Mystery Mansion --- (2lvl27myma) Objective: Defeat all enemies If you got the Earth Spirit already, summon Nimbles and Shooters while getting over to the Spirit. As soon as you touch the Spirit, press R and summon a lot of Brutes and Nimbles. Just keep summoning, and try to take care of the Archers first, because as usual they're the most dangerous. However, first things first... Get out of there, and then own the guys from the outside. Being on the inside will make you open to attacks on all sides. (For a speed run, summon a bunch of Shooters in the center of the area and wait for the enemy Nimbles to bunch together. Then summon a full-powered Brute on them to take care of them all. Circle around north and summon Shooters to kill the enemy Brutes from behind, and touch the Earth Spirit. Keep in mind that in order to do a speed run, the Earth Spirit makes things much easier. Anyways, as soon as you use the Earth Spirit power, summon a bunch of Nimbles to dash south into the Archers. By the end, you should have beaten the level in under 17 seconds or so.) --- Level 28: Path to the Truth --- (2lvl28pttt) Objective: Catch the Chief This is a hard level for the Evil Lord story mode. Summon a bunch of Brutes and send them charging eastward. Summon a couple of Shooters as well to counter the enemy Brutes in the north. When you get to the area with a lot of Archers and Nimbles, summon a bunch of Brutes to kill the Nimbles and then send in the Nimbles to focus on the Archers. Head east and then touch the Chief to end the level. Of course, don't forget to pay at the shop if you need to. For a speed run, just keep moving to the right. When you see a unit in front of you, summon a monster that will kill it, but keep moving to the right unless the human is hitting you. When it comes to the huge area with Archers and Nimbles just keep summoning Brutes so you can stay in cover while killing the Nimbles and moving eastward. Then touch the Chief. --- Level 29: Bat Mansion --- (2lvl29batm) Objective: Defeat Bat God Ahh... My favorite mission of Evil Lord 30. A people's story, you know? Anyways, since the Bat God is a Shooter type, just send a bunch of Nimbles charging towards the Bat God. And that's the end. --- Level 30: Noire Castle --- (2lvl30noir) Objective: Defeat Noire The last Evil Lord 30 mission. Now that went by a lot quicker than Hero 30, right? Anyways, this mission isn't that hard. It's actually pretty easy. Get moving north, and Clive and Bill will join you. When you reach the wall of Noire statues, summon a bunch of high-level Shooters. After breaking about two of them or so, head around the wall of statues. Summon high-level Nimbles and set them on Noire. He'll be defeated after about four Nimble attacks. And... DONE! You're finished with Evil Lord 30? How do you feel? Ready for Princess 30 yet? If you are, keep reading. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: PRINCESS 30 :::::::::::::::::::::::::(3pri30) Okay! Now we're at Princess 30, the third game mode of the game. This is a fast-paced shooter game, and you'll need decent reflexes to do well in this. So. Decide on a name for yourself, and watch the opening scenes. When asked if you would like a tutorial on how to play this game mode, choose "Yes". The controls will be explained to you. If you need to shoot upwards, press and hold Triangle. Shoot downwards is the X button, shooting to the right is the O button, and shooting left is the Square button. To slow down, move to the back end of the screen. --- Level 1: Royalty Test --- (3lvl1royal) Objective: Retrieve the Minister's Glasses This is just a tutorial mission. You'll see little arrows at the right-hand side of the screen to show where the enemies are going to pop up next. Pay attention to this, because if you plan on getting a lot of money, you have to fight the enemies, but if you plan on just going for speed, then you have to avoid the enemies. .---------------------------------------------------. |__A COUPLE OF TIPS_________________________________| | | | Spraying - | | You can do this by tapping one of the shooting | | buttons repeatedly. Since arrows only get | | focused into a beam of arrows after holding | | down the respective shooting button for about | | a full second or two, you can spray by tapping | | the button. This is great for taking out a | | bunch of small enemies at once. | | | | Concentrated Fire - | | You can concentrate the firing of your arrows | | by holding down the respective shooting button | | down. It sprays for a bit, but then the | | arrows are concentrated into a line. This is | | great for taking out high-HP enemies. | | | '---------------------------------------------------' --- Level 2: Herbs for All --- (3lvl2hbfra) Objective: Retrieve a 7 Leaf Clover Johnny and Max will give you a tutorial on how to use the soldiers. Select "Yes" to hear it, and they'll explain that if you get off the paved road, you will slow down. You hear that? So don't go off-road wrangling unless you decide that that will slow you down less than bumping into something on the road. Johnny and Max will also inform you of something called "Fever mode". In Fever mode, you're invincible and hella fast. But you have to kill a lot of enemies to get it. See that bar in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen? You have to fill that up. Another bonus is that the army gathered around Princess will be invincible as well. Fever mode is triggered as soon as the gauge is filled. So if you need to save it for something, don't kill any enemies. Simple as that. As soon as Fever mode is triggered, the bar decreases rapidly, so kill as much stuff as you can and don't slow down. If you manage to kill a ton of enemies while in Fever mode, you can actually prolong Fever mode. However, if an enemy hits you, your Fever mode gauge goes down. So in short, don't hit enemies and kill them instead. ...Now, let's get on with that strategy. Try to kill all of the enemies by spraying. And remember, there's more than one shoot button. So if you need to kill some enemies off road, use either the Triangle or X button to shoot them. When you get to the Clover, you'll start heading back, but a gigantic Slime will encounter you. It's fine if you get off the road now; just concentrate your fire on it until it starts splitting into different slimes. Then start spraying. You should be able to just finish it under the time limit. Watch the scenes that follow, and then head on over to the next level. --- Level 3: Missing Student --- (3lvl3misss) Objective: Save the apprentice You'll meet the Time Goddess in this level, and as usual, she's here to help you out with your time troubles. For a price. ...She doesn't change, does she? Select "Yes" to hear about what she has to offer. Instead of statues and stores... This time, she has a "Goddess Carpet"! Basically this thing works only if you are standing/running on it. It is placed onto the map at certain places, and when you step on it, time immediately starts rewinding. However, your G immediately starts being depleted when standing/running on it as well. So watch out for you G reserves before stepping on it. You can actually beat this mission without using the Goddess Carpet. Just stay on the road the entire time and shoot any enemies coming your way. Also, be sure to shoot any boxes you see, because those contain G. The apprentice is at the end of the area. Running into him will pick him up. Now, when you're heading on back, be sure to shoot any treasure chests that you forgot to shoot, and concentrate your fire on the monsters trailing behind you. You should be able to finish the level with about a second to spare. This will still get you the 30 Second Rank. --- Level 4: Carpenter Foreman --- (3lvl4carpf) Objective: Get to the Carpenter Foreman As soon as you exit the castle, you'll notice that the screen is set up in a different format. The rules are the same though; the layout's just different. When Max asks you if you want to have a tutorial on fairies, choose "Yes". He will tell you that if you touch fairies, they entrust their power to you. Red Fairy = Power Up Blue Fairy = Speed Boost Yellow Fairy = Spin Attack (Arrows are shot in all directions in a spiral) Green Fairy = Tension Up (Fever gauge fills up faster) As soon as the level starts, head to the right to pick up the Blue Fairy. As you start moving forward, look out for monsters heading across your path. Shoot them and keep moving. As soon as you reach the end, touch the Carpenter and then pick up the Red Fairy. Hug the bottom of the screen and spray the boulders as they come. You'll be able to destroy just about all of them as they roll towards you because of the Red Fairy's power, and this will grant you Fever Mode in no time. And we all know what that means. When Fever Mode kicks in, dash all the way to the end while shooting the rest of the boulders to replenish your Fever Mode Gauge. You'll reach the gate with an ample 5 seconds left. --- Level 5: Bitter Herb --- (3lvl5bitth) Objective: Get the Bitter Herb This level isn't so bad as long as you know when the obstacles are showing up. In the beginning of the level, concentrate your fire upwards while staying on the path to destroy the boulders to the north. Avoid the boulders to the south while shooting the ones in the north. After avoiding the first group of southern boulders, head south on the screen and keep shooting northwards. This should get rid of all of the groundhog enemies and it will also get you the first chest filled with coins in the north. As you keep getting faster, alternate between being on the north part of the screen and the south part, since clumps of boulders will block your path if you attempt to stay north (or south) the entire time. Occasionally shoot forwards to get rid of the odd turtle now and then. Before you even reach the end of the course, you should be well into Fever Mode. This can make it a bit difficult to get the Red Fairy which is located near the end of the level, since you'll be traveling so fast. Add that to the fact that there's a clump of rocks blocking the freaking Fairy. So as soon as you see the Red Fairy on your screen, shoot the boulders out of the way and grab it. Keep shooting the boulders around you to keep replenishing your Fever Mode Gauge, and at the end, grab the Bitter Herb. When heading back, keep shooting the boulders that you missed while getting there to sustain your Fever Mode. There shouldn't be as many obstacles while coming back since you destroyed most of them on the way to the Bitter Herb. You should be able to reach the gate with at least 5 seconds left on the clock. --- Level 6: Lost in the Desert --- (3lvl6lostd) Objective: Save the Lumberjack's wife You'll see that the layout has been changed again... This time, you'll be facing the west of the castle. As soon as you can move, head upwards off the road and pick up the Yellow Fairy. Then just hold down a Shoot button to shoot your arrows in all directions. You will soon reach the Lumberjack's wife. Touch her and then head back to the castle while staying on the roads. You'll finish with an ample 15 seconds or so. --- Level 7: Axe Finder Needed --- (3lvl7axefn) Objective: Find the Lumberjack's Axe ...Anyone else notice the typo in the Place that the Axe is found in...? Or maybe it's actually spelled like that. Whatever, I probably have around 40 typos in this guide even though I proofread every section. XD Anyways. Get on the top of the screen and concentrate your fire to break the two trees in your way. Stay on the very top of the screen the entire time, and concentrate your fire in front of you. When you pass the little bit of swamp at the top of the screen, start spraying southwards to get rid of the enemies there. Keep spraying forward and when you get to the end, quickly shoot the trees out of the way in the south and grab the Axe. On the way back, just stay all the way to the north again. Shoot forward, and when a bunch of enemies start coming up to you, spray downwards. You should arrive at the gate with around five seconds to spare. --- Level 8: Toy Monster (?) --- (3lvl8toymo) Objective: Get the boy's toy back I have yet a way to figure out how to beat this level in under 30 seconds. However, beating it by just using the Goddess' Carpet is really easy. Right when you get out of the castle, start shooting upwards. Concentrated fire works really well here. As soon as those monsters are defeated, start shooting downwards. Then shoot upwards again while following the path a bit to the south, and then follow the path upwards. Then follow it downwards, and shoot the dog above you. Just keep following the path, and then shoot the monster below you. Shoot to the right, and destroy all the monsters there. There's a Red Fairy hiding in a rock that the enemy is next to so get the Red Fairy and head on over to the end of the level. Kill the Mammoth and grab the boy's toy. While heading back, try to achieve Fever Mode by pumping the remaining monsters left with arrows, and also try to kill the mammoths that are charging up behind you. When you get to the second Goddess Carpet (or rather, the first one you see in the level), stay on it the entire time and you should be able to get to the end with a little time left. This method should also get you the "Fighter" title, if you kill enough mammoths on your way back. --- Level 9: Apple Forest --- (3lvl9apple) Objective: Grab the Tasty Apple Okay. You're going to have to use the Goddess Carpet on this level as well; there's just too many damn trees around. Use both Goddess Carpets, and just keep shooting the trees that get in your way. You should be able to find the apple in the upper corner of the screen. You can either follow the road and get the apple, or use the trees for cover. Once you get the apple, a stupid Frog is going to start jumping on you. Watch out for it; my first time through it cost me 750G in Medical Bills. Now, the reason you're using the Goddess Carpets on this level is not to turn back time (although you may need that too) it's to charge up your speed without bumping into the trees. Since it's a straight path, you'll start to pick up speed since you aren't getting hit by anything. Just watch out for the Frog on your way back because it does jump on the Goddess Carpets. If you want to get the "30 Second" rank for this level, you're going to have to upgrade your Crossbow first. If you want to get the "Flawless" Title for this run, you're going to have to go slow and stay on the path. When the Frog starts bouncing on his big ol' butt everywhere, you're going to have to look at where he's going to land and move away from that area. Then as soon as the Frog lands, you'll have to start shooting it. If you're lucky, you'll be able to kill it within three jumps or so. While attempting to kill the Frog, you will also have to avoid the trees on the way back. ...Good luck. --- Level 10: Flame of Departure --- (3lvl10flod) Objective: Get the Fire Cactus Alright, stay on the brown path. And spray the dogs in front of you. There'll be a chest of coins on the right, and if you ever need to rewind time, only use the long Goddess Carpet near the end. The other carpets are in the sand, and the sand slows you down. At the end of the level, the cactus will be on the left of the screen, so grab it. Kill the fire birds to get into Fever Mode, and stay on the right of the screen while shooting upwards the entire time. If you have an upgraded crossbow, you'll be able to get the "30 Second" rank. If you haven't upgraded your crossbow, you should be able to get the "Flawless" rank if you use the long Goddess Carpet. --- Level 11: Rustproof Armor --- (3lvl11rpar) Objective: Before setting off... You're going to notice you can now change the Princess' costume in the throne room by pressing Square! Isn't that great? ...Let's get on with the level then. This level is really easy, even though there's swamp everywhere. You wanna know why? There's enemies everywhere. This is a good thing because you can get Fever mode in about two seconds flat. Then head south to grab the Blue Fairy, and then pick up the Rustproof Iron at the end. Then head back taking the north path, because there's road there. You should get back with about ten seconds left on the clock. --- Level 12: Beach Trip! --- (3lvl12betr) Objective: Find the Ocean Flower Stay on the blue road and follow it. Shoot forward, and occasionally shoot up and down to keep the monsters away. Be sure to use the Goddess Carpet if needed. At the end, there's the Ocean Flower. Pick it up, and when you start heading back, there will be a long Goddess Carpet in the south. You will probably need to use that if you want to finish the mission due to all the slow down time from the water. Getting the "30 Second" Title is next to impossible for this mission, but you are welcome to try. If you want to get the "Flawless" title, you should try to follow the path, but when you can get a Blue Fairy, get off the path to get it. There are two Blue Fairies in this level, so get them both. Shoot all the enemies around you and if you get hit, just start over. You will probably need to use the Goddess Carpet at least once when doing a Flawless run. --- Level 13: Slime Revenge --- (3lvl13slre) Objective: Destroy the Giant Slime and return A really annoying mission, if I do say so myself. ...Then again, Princess 30 is by far my least favorite game mode. But anyways, the reason this level is difficult is because there are really powerful monsters that block your way. The second monster you run into is very capable of taking out half of all of your soldiers. So steer clear of monsters. Plus, the trails are made so that you either have to go on a really slow path, or go on the fast road and bump into monsters. So you're going to have to choose whichever path will save the most time in the end. And now, for the troublesome part. When you are fighting the Slime, it ends up splitting into so many different pieces that it's just about impossible to avoid them all without losing about half of your full amount of soldiers. Which just might leave you with no soldiers at all except for Johnny and Hugh. You're helpless when you're hit when you only have Johnny and Hugh, so if the screen is filled with tiny slimes, you're going to have to restart because you will never beat the slime and get back in time. Plus, to add insult to injury, if you didn't kill the wooden guardian before starting to fight the slime, it will join the fray and try to kill you as well. Anyways, the strategy here is to deal as much damage to the big Slime as you can with your concentrated fire, and then when it splits into about six different slimes, start spraying all over the place and pray to god that the wooden guardian doesn't smash you from behind. Then, as you're heading back, try to avoid the monsters again. You're going to have to stray from the road from time to time if you want to get back, and there's a very high probability that you'll have to use the Goddess Carpets as well. If you want to go for the "30 Second" Title, you're going to have to get the maximum upgraded crossbow first. If you have that, then here's the strategy... In the beginning of the level, just concentrate your fire forward to kill the mammoth there. Then, destroy the trees to the north and head there to avoid the snake in the middle. Attempt to avoid the octopus and the shark as well, and avoid the wood man at the end. When the Slime comes down, kill it as quickly as you can, and then kill the wood man on the way back. Kill one of the flower enemies to the north or south, and then destroy some trees. This should be enough to get you into Fever Mode. Keep spraying forward and stay on the path, and you should be able to edge into the gates with about a second left. Good luck on this one, it may take ten tries or so, but you'll get it eventually. --- Level 14: Wounded Soldier --- (3lvl14woso) Objective: Save Max Start moving forward and shoot ahead. This level has periodic Goddess Carpets that take up most of the screen, so go ahead and use those to your advantage. There are also multiple Yellow Fairies to find in this level, with being hidden in the rocks and whatnot. So don't hesitate to smash open the rocks in order to get to the Yellow Fairies. At the end of the level is Max. Touch him to pick him up, and then start heading back. Hopefully, you'll have cleared out all of the enemies, but if you haven't, you still have the gigantic Goddess Carpets to make up for it. --- Level 15: Fairies' Favorite --- (3lvl15fafa) Objective: Get honey from the forest This mission... Is finally an easy one. Spray forward so that you get some of the trees out of the way, and keep spraying to get rid of the two groups of enemies there. You'll get into Fever Mode if you spray most of them, and use this to dash all the way to the end. At the end, you'll see the honey. Pick it up, and head on back. Use the Goddess Carpet if you need to, and use the roads whenever possible. After taking the honey, the bees will start chasing you. Get to the far-left side of the screen to go faster, and shoot the bees that are chasing you. If you're lucky, you'll just edge into the 30 Second Rank. --- Level 16: Find Blacksmith! --- (3lvl16fibl) Objective: Find the Blacksmith Not much to explain here. Try your best to avoid the rocks and shoot all of the enemies you see. As usual, use the Goddess Carpet if you need to. There will be a Red Fairy on the right side; try to get it if you can. At the end of the level, some birds will start chasing you back to the castle. If you beat enough of these guys with your concentrated fire, you'll enter Fever mode. This might just be enough to send you back to the castle in under 30 seconds. When you get back to the castle, the Blacksmith will inform you that if you ever come across the Hard Mineral, he'll upgrade the Crossbow. Sounds nice, doesn't it? Anyways, next level. --- Level 17: Century Flower --- (3lvl17cefl) Objective: Get the Century Flower This level is actually not too hard. When starting out, shoot forward at the top of the map, and after killing the monsters there, shoot downward. Then shoot forward again, this time and spray both the top and the bottom. Keep shooting and watch out for the enemies that shoot fire balls at you because they can take your soldiers away really fast. Now, there's only one Goddess Carpet and you're going to want to use it going both ways. You'll be able to run fast on it, and you'll also rewind time. A little bit after the long Goddess Carpet will be the Century Flower. Pick it up, and as you head back, use the Goddess Carpet again. Remember to stay near the front of the screen to go faster. The dinosaur enemies might chase you, but if you keep shooting them from the bottom up, they won't be able to reach you without being destroyed. Note that if you redo this mission with your crossbow upgraded, you can get your time under 30 seconds. The "Flawless" rank can also be gotten. So you may want to pay this level a visit after upgrading your crossbow. --- Level 18: Revenge of the Frogs --- (3lvl18rotf) Objective: Get rid of the Giant Frog This level will drain your money reserves. Too many strong enemies to really do much here, so just attempt to flee to the end where the frog is. There is a small Goddess Carpet here, which you can stand on while battling the Giant Frog. Keep shooting a concentrated stream of arrows at the Frog until it is defeated, and head back to the castle at full speed. Use the large Goddess Carpet at the bottom of the screen if you need to. --- Level 19: Fairy King Danger! --- (3lvl19fakd) Objective: Rescue the Fairy King As soon as you have control head south and get the Yellow Fairy. Plow through the obstacles and grab the Red Fairy in the south. Get the Yellow Fairy in the north when you reach it, and then rescue the Fairy King. Get the last Yellow Fairy at the bottom of the screen when coming back, and then just plow through the enemies until you get back to the castle. You might just be able to get under 30 seconds. After the level, the Fairy King will give you a new costume to wear! Very stylish, right? :P --- Level 20: Hard Mineral --- (3lvl20hard) Objective: Get the Hard Mineral Start off by heading south and firing in the forward direction. You'll pick up a Green Fairy along the way. Kill as many monsters as you find to reach Fever Mode as quickly as possible while avoiding any monsters that will bump into you. Use the Goddess Carpets to buy some more time, and destroy the rocks at the end of the level. All of them contain coins except the one in the bottom middle; that one contains the Hard Mineral. So destroy that one, and head on back. You might want to destroy the other rocks too so that you can stock up on G in this level. Use the Goddess Carpets as you go back, and pick up the Blue Fairy along the way to get back faster. After the level, the Blacksmith will upgrade your Crossbow. --- Level 21: First Flight --- (3lvl21firf) Objective: Get to the end of the level and return to the castle In the sky, the clouds are the road and the blue sky is the slow-down stuff. So stay on the clouds and kill the tiny birds as they attempt to come towards you. You're going to have to use the Goddess Carpets to get back in time as well, so run on those for a bit and continue on to the end of the level. When you're returning to the castle, a group of large birds are going to begin to harass you. Try to shoot them down, but they have a lot of HP. So you're going to be chased by them until the very end. However, if you can kill them, then you will have your Fever Gauge filled up significantly. This could help boost you home faster. --- Level 22: Legendary Hammer --- (3lvl22legh) Objective: Grab the Legendary Hammer and return to the castle This level is really easy for a Princess mode level. Concentrate your fire forward in both paths in the north and south to charge your Fever Gauge. You should achieve Fever Mode before long; try to keep it up until you get to the end. Pull out the Hammer and return to the castle. Avoid any obstacles and stay on the road. Sooner or later, you'll get to the castle, and with any luck, you'll get under the 30 second mark as well. The trick here is to keep up the Fever Mode for as long as you can and then just hope you have enough time to make it back to the castle. --- Level 23: Ninja Scroll --- (3lvl23nins) Objective: Get the Ninja Scroll back and return to the castle Stay on the road and avoid the mammoths as they run towards you. Follow the road and kill any enemies that get in your way. At the very end will be a beetle guarding the scroll. Kill the beetle and grab the scroll. As you return to the castle, snakes will start to chase you. Just shoot backwards at them, and you'll either fill up your Fever Gauge to go faster, or you'll prolong your Fever Mode. If you had Fever Mode activated when you got the Ninja Scroll, then you'll probably get back before the 30 seconds is up. After the level, your soldiers will gain the ability to move you faster through the slow areas. Great, right? --- Level 24: Desert Rose --- (3lvl24desr) Objective: Get the Desert Rose and return to the castle Just follow the path and shoot in all directions. You will soon obtain Fever Mode as long as you kill the enemies around you first. There will be a Yellow Fairy in the middle of the course. Snag it and you'll be able to achieve Fever Mode (or prolong it). When there's no other road, use the Goddess Carpet as a means of traveling faster. And at the end of the course, touch the Desert Rose and start heading back. All you have to do is head on the north path the entire time and hug the forward edge of the screen. Hold down the forward firing button, and you'll get to the castle. If you didn't head off of the road during the level, you will probably end up with a time of 0:28 minutes or so. --- Level 25: Mineral Part Deux --- (3lvl25mipd) Objective: Grab the Very Hard Mineral and return to the castle This entire level is just facing tough monsters one after the other until you get to the end. So just maneuver around and shoot the enemies until they're defeated. There's a Goddess Carpet in each area, so it shouldn't be any trouble to defeat them in time. At the end, there's a rock covering the Very Hard Mineral. Hit the rock with your arrows until it breaks, and then pick up the Very Hard Mineral. Head on back to the castle while getting on any Goddess Carpets that you need. After the level, if you completed the Legendary Hammer mission, you will get your Crossbow upgraded. Head over to the next level! As for getting the "Fighter" and "Flawless" rank, just keep shooting forward to get rid of all the big monsters. Watch out for the 2nd and 3rd ones since they have projectile attacks. When heading back to the castle, spray right to get into Fever Mode. Try to stay in Fever Mode, and if you do, that means you are killing a TON of enemies. And if you can stay in Fever Mode for a substantial time, that also means that you haven't been hit yet. So stay in Fever Mode for as long as possible, and when you reach the gates, you'll get the "Fighter" rank if you lost any soldiers, and you'll get the "Flawless" rank if you did not lose any soldiers. --- Level 26: Right to the Beach --- (3lvl26rttb) Objective: Find the Map There are a lot of Fairies on this map. If you get the Blue Fairy, just stick with it the entire time so that you can get under the 30 second mark. When you get to the end, break open the chest in the bottom left-hand corner. The map will be inside there. Pick it up, and head back to the castle. Try to stay on the road as best you can. --- Level 27: Left the Cave --- (3lvl27letc) Objective: Find the Map Just follow the road and kill all of the enemies that get in your way. If you are trying to get under 30 seconds, try to get Fever Mode as soon as possible by shooting the rocks in the north in the beginning of the level. STAY ON THE ROAD. I know I've already said this once, but it bears repeating. Also, try to stay at a fast speed. At the end of the level, open the chest and touch the Map to pick it up. Then head back to the castle. Now, some birds will be getting in front of you as you head back. Simply shoot them until they die to get your Fever Gauge higher. After the battle, you'll unlock the 28th level. --- Level 28: Ninja Scroll 2 --- (3lvl28nsc2) Objective: Find the Ninja Scroll and return to the castle All that's to this level is trying to follow the road. Break the rocks in the beginning for an early Fever Mode, and use this Fever Mode to follow the road better. At the end, destroy the boxes at the bottom and grab the Ninja Scroll, and try to follow the zig-zag road all the way back to the castle. Destroy any rocks and monsters you see along the way for another Fever Mode. After the battle, Johnny and Max will improve their ability to move you in slow areas. (As was pointed out to me, the rocks in the beginning level are actually turtles... And for that, I am sorry for calling the turtles rocks. I was informed that they have feelings too. XD) --- Level 29: Living Legend --- (3lvl29livl) Objective: Get the Dragon's Scale This is really easy. Just break the rock to the right, and grab the Blue Fairy inside it. Then head north until you find the dragon. Attempt to stay on the clouds... Anyways, when fighting the dragon, you'll be in an area like the one shown below: OOOOOO OOO OOO OOO OXO OOO OOO Try to stay where the "X" is, and just keep shooting upwards as the dragon flies across the stage. The dragon might occasionally fly vertically, and if that becomes the case, just shoot sideways. Eventually, he'll drop a Dragon Scale. Pick it up and head back to the castle. Use the Goddess Carpets if you need to, and attempt to follow the cloud road. Now... For "Flawless"... Getting to the dragon and beating it without losing any soldiers is easy. It's getting back that makes it hard. When starting out, stay to the top right of the screen and concentrate your fire. This will get you the Blue Fairy, and it will take care of the birds flying your way. Stay right until you get the second Blue Fairy, and then head left. Spray to the right to get rid of the little ghosts, and concentrate your fire ahead to get rid of the big ghosts. Make sure you get at least one of the Red Fairies before facing the dragon, because the Red Fairy allows for you to defeat the dragon in one go. Make sure you don't get hit by the dragon, and when it passes by, concentrate your fire shots on it. Take the scale, and when you're heading back, watch out for the birds on the lower right. Spray them, and get rid of any rocks sitting in your path. If you can, get the Fairies to speed up the process of getting to the gate. If you keep trying to get "Flawless", you will eventually get it within some tries. "30 Second" though, is a different matter altogether... Getting "30 Second" on this level is a bit ridiculous. It's not impossible, but it's ridiculous. Stay with the same strategy going to and beating the dragon as in the "Flawless" strategy, except when you're coming back, you are going to have to be as fast as possible. Which means attempting to keep all your soldiers alive while getting every Fairy. When coming back from defeating the dragon, stay to the right and shoot down to get the first Blue Fairy. Then stay to the left and shoot downwards to get the Fairies that are in your path. The birds will come up from the bottom left, and you'll have to spray in their general direction when they start getting too close. If you're really lucky, you should edge into the gates with less than a quarter of a second left. I was able to do so with a 29.93 time... And if I can do it, you can too! :P --- Level 30: A New Legend --- (3lvl30anel) Objective: Defeat the Dragon This... Is a really easy mission for a last mission. Just follow the cloud road and continually shoot the dragon. When you get to the last area, shoot both of the rocks and pick up both the Yellow Fairy and the Red Fairy. Shoot the Dragon with the arrows, and when that runs out, just use directional shooting as usual. The Dragon will pop up out of the ground while spinning and breathing fire. Just run circles around it while shooting at it, and it should eventually go down. Pick up the object it drops and then head back to the castle. If you're going for a speed run for the "30 Second" Title, just get to the dragon as quickly as you can and grab both the Red and Yellow Fairies. Then stand very close to the dragon and shoot, and it should go down very quickly. It's okay if you lose a couple of your soldiers since you're going for the "30 Second" rank instead of the "Flawless" rank. You should get back to the gates with a few seconds left. ...And that's the end of Princess 30. ***AUTHOR'S NOTE*** (I'm not good at Princess 30. With the help of a very helpful person, the strategies in Princess 30 were able to be improved. However, if you feel that there are some other strategies for some levels that I need to know about, feel free to e-mail me about them. I'll say it flat-out... I suck at Princess 30. There's just something about those enemies that get to me, so you can't count on me to come up with the best and most brilliant strategies for this game mode. That's where you come in! If you can chip in and provide your own strategies, I'll be sure to include them if they work. So don't hesitate to help out if you have the time to do so!) :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: KNIGHT 30 ::::::::::::::::::::::::::(3kni30) Alright... The last game mode that has any levels! You ready...? Anyways, name the Knight whatever you want, and watch the following scenes. When the Sage asks you a question, choose "Yes", and the Sage will inform you that you can body slam enemies. Even though you're a knight, the only weapon you can use is your body... o_0 Anyways, ramming into enemies will deplete your HP, but you can revive yourself when you die if you get your ghost back to the Sage. You can also pick up the Sage by pressing X on him, and you can set him down by pressing X again. By pressing Triangle, you can call the Sage, and by holding O and moving, you can Dash. Dashing takes down your stamina, but your stamina regenerates so periodically dashing is fine. --- Level 1: Ruined Castle and Beginnings --- (4lvl1rcaab) To start out, pick up the Sage and dash south. Stay still for a while, and then just get the Sage away from the monsters. Whenever you can stay still, be sure to do so to let the time run out. It's very easy to get the Great Knight rank on this level, so don't worry about getting it for now. After the level, watch the scenes that follow and the Sage will let you know that you can make trap items during the time that it takes to travel to the next level. By gaining experience, you can level up items or create new ones. When making Items, it will gradually take less and less time to make them. But if you spend too much sleep time on making trap items, your condition in the next level will be pretty bad. When you get through the scene, you will level up and get 1 Courage Point. Move on to the next level. --- Level 2: Oath to Knighthood --- (4lvl2oathk) (NOTICE: Bombs are by far the most effective and useful Trap. They destroy objects in the way, and they also stun enemies. Whenever you're given the chance to upgrade an object or get a new object... Try to upgrade the Bombs, alright? You won't regret it.) Select this level, and you'll be taken to the campgrounds where you can make items. Make a Scarecrow to test it out, and then start the level by pressing the Sleep button. During the battle, the Sage will let you know that eventually all things break. (Makes sense, right?) Anyways, you can pick up items on the ground such as stones by pressing X on them. If you don't want to use the item, you can press X again to drop it. You'll also be able to pick up light monsters. When the Sage wants to give you advice, choose "Yes", and you will be reminded that when you are moving the Sage, he can't cast the spell. He will also let you know that his HP can be shown right under your HP bar. He's not that hardy, so you're going to have to look after him. Anyways, on with the strategy. Wait about five seconds, and then grab the Sage. Dash over to the little path in the southeast, and set the Sage in the middle of it. Then dash back over to where the monsters are located, and set your Scarecrow in the midst of the monsters. Then pick up some rocks and start throwing them at the monsters while they're attacking the Scarecrow. It'll take the monsters a bit of time to take down the Scarecrow, but once they do, you can just hole up in the little hallway with a bunch of rocks and start throwing them at monsters when they finish off the Scarecrow. Getting the Great Knight rank is going to be really easy to do. As long as you can get the Sage over to the little path and stave off the monsters with your Scarecrow and the rocks, everything will turn out just fine. You should be able to finish this level in about 31-32 seconds or so. --- Level 3: Fragile Cave: Keep Digging --- (4lvl3fc:kd) Before heading into this level, when you're asked to pick which item you'll be using in the level, pick up the Scarecrow. This is because flying enemies are attracted to the Scarecrow, and there are flying enemies in this level. When the Sage asks you a question, say "Yes", and he'll tell you that you'll need a shovel in order to beat this level. Also, he'll let you know that flying monsters can just fly over walls, which will lead into his explanation of the "Sanctuary". If you go there, then the Sage will start to cast his spell twice as fast. So, when the level starts, set up your Scarecrow to the right of the Sage. Then, pick up the Sage and move him a bit to the left. Pick up the shovel and plow through the rocks on the left. The instant you finish getting through the rocks, set down the shovel by holding X, and dash over to the Sage. Pick him up and dash him over to the Sanctuary. The bats won't be able to reach you in time, and you'll get a Great Knight rank as well as a time under 25 seconds. --- Level 4: Hiking Trip: Sonic Grillade --- (4lvl4ht:sg) In this level, when the Sage asks you a question, select "Yes" to learn more about dashing. Basically, I've already explained dashing, but the Sage will let you know that dashing with heavy objects will deplete your Stamina faster. When the countdown starts, dash with the Sage over to the Sanctuary, but keep a hold on him. Grillade will come flying up from the south to hit you, but when he does, dash to the left or right to dodge him. Keep doing this when he comes for you to avoid being hit, and remember to keep the Sage on the Sanctuary. After dodging two times or so, the Sage should be able to finish his spell, and you'll be rewarded with a Great Knight rank. --- Level 5: Shaky Cave: Freakish Bullwood --- (4lvl5sc:fb) Before entering this level, choose to get any item that will block Bullwood's advance. This means either getting a Scarecrow, a piece of Horse Meat, or a Wall. All of them work. When the Sage asks you if you want to listen to his advice, choose "Yes". He will explain "Clinging" to you. Basically, Clinging is a last resort all-or-nothing kind of thing. If a monster is getting close to the stage and you've run out of options, but you just need to buy a little more time, you can Cling onto the monster to slow it down. For this level though, you won't be needing to Cling onto any monster. Simply grab the Sage and dash over to the Sanctuary in the north. Leave the Sage there, and dash north to Bullwood. Set your trap down in front of them, and pick up rocks to throw as it gets stuck on the trap. Keep throwing objects at Bullwood to deter her from the Sage, and the Sage should be able to cast his spell in the nick of time. --- Level 6: Shrine: Rosier the Bewitcher --- (4lvl6s:rtb) The Sage will offer to provide you advice again. Choose "Yes", and he will explain the workings of the "Knapsack". The trap at the top will be used first and if you press Square while holding something, then you will drop that object in favor of holding the trap. This level is very, very easy. Just pick up the Sage and dash periodically to the left while avoiding the dragons. Set the Sage in the Sanctuary, and the dragons won't be able to get into the Sanctuary... You'll get the Sage to cast the spell in no time. --- Level 7: Ringing City: Break that Bell --- (4lvl7rc:bb) As soon as the level starts, dash with the Sage over to the Sanctuary. Set him there and dash north. Pick up the Two-by-four stick in the Sanctuary and dash northeast. Be sure to not deplete all of your stamina. Go through the little path and then head west at the top of the screen, and then dash down to the bell. Hit the bell until it breaks and then dash back to the Sage to protect him from the monsters coming near. Slam the monsters with your two-by-four, and the Sage should be able to cast his spell. This run should get you the Great Knight rank. If not, just try again and try to shave off any seconds you can by dashing periodically when your stamina gets low. You don't have to wait for your stamina to recharge all the way to dash; just remember that. --- Level 8: Beast Forest: Pack of Wolves --- (4lvl8bf:pw) The Sage will let you know that you can call him over to a location by pressing Triangle. This is useful if you're beating up enemies with a stick while needing the Sage to go somewhere. However, if the Sage is far away from you, he will not be able to hear your call and will not respond to it. Also, keep in mind that the Sage will get tired and if the distance is too far, he will stop going. Be sure to bring along a piece of Horse Meat for this challenge. Since the wolves are beasts, they'll be attracted by the meat. When starting out, grab the Sage and periodically dash over to the alcove in the northeast. Leave the Sage there (he doesn't have to be put in a far corner or anything; just in that general area). You won't have to worry about the wolves in the east because they'll try to run through the wall separating the Sage and them to get to the Sage. Not very smart wolves, I guess. The wolves you have to worry about are in the west. Take your meat, and set it a bit south of them. They'll go for the meat, and in that time, pick up some stuff to throw at them. Any of the items in the Sage's hiding place will do. This will buy enough time for the Sage to cast his spell. Unfortunately, there's no Sanctuary to speed up the process, but you'll still get the Great Knight rank using this strategy. --- Level 9: Mammoth Panic: Unstoppable --- (4lvl9mp:un) For this level, you might want to bring over a Wall. It's not going to do much against the Mammoths, but it's just for insurance. If you don't have one, that is fine too. It doesn't do too much in the first place. Mammoths can hurt each other. This is good news for you, since you don't have to do much of anything if they run into each other. So first of all, pick up the shovel and lure the mammoth toward you. Head west and break the barrier blocking the Sanctuary to the south. Drop the shovel and pick up the Sage. Take the Sage to the Sanctuary and (if you have it) set a Wall at the entrance of the place while you're outside of the Sanctuary. This is to guard the Sage, if just for a little bit. Try to get the enemies to follow you. Then dash over and break the bell in the west by running into it, and then dash over to the northeast and crash into the bell there to break it. Then run back to the Sanctuary and try to lure the mammoths away from the area. If two mammoths are coming at you from either side, try to get them to run into each other so that you can have a brief respite while they recover. This should get you the Great Knight rank. --- Level 10: Bird's Nest Mountain: Grillade's Trap --- (4lvl10bnmg) Bring along a Scarecrow on this mission. Pick up the Sage and start sporadically dashing north. Get him onto the Sanctuary, and set the Scarecrow a little south of the Sanctuary. Then grab onto the Sage again, but don't move him. When Grillade starts charging, then dodge with the Sage and then get back onto the Sanctuary. If any normal birds come, then set down the Sage and ram into them. This will get you the Great Knight rank. --- Level 11: Wandering Forest: Lost --- (4lvl11wf:l) This level is really easy. You don't have to make a trap for it; in fact, it would be better if you just slept. Now, when you get control of Knight, dash south, then west, and then north. Grab the Sage in the east and dash east onto the Sanctuary. Leave the Sage there and ram into any enemies that come close. This will quickly end the level, and you'll also get the Great Knight rank. --- Level 12: Princess Castle: Finale with Grillade --- (4lvl12pcfg) This mission is actually pretty difficult to beat while getting a Great Knight rank, but it isn't frustrating enough to make you want to throw your PSP or anything drastic like that. For the level, bring along a Wall with you. In the beginning of the level, just pick up the Sage and move him a little bit to the left or right. Then destroy the Bell nearest to you by ramming into it and then return to the Sage. You'll see Grillade charging again, so just pick up the Sage and avoid him by a little bit. After avoiding Grillade, dash towards the bell all the way in the north. Break it by ramming into it, and then dash back to the Sage. Pick up the Sage, and dash over to the Sanctuary while avoiding the monsters and Grillade. Be sure not to run out of stamina in the process. While in the Sanctuary, set the Sage down and set up your Wall to the south of the Sanctuary so that the Lizard doesn't get in. Ram into the brown humanoid until it stops moving, and then pick up the Sage to avoid Grillade's charge. Get back onto the Sanctuary for some last moments, and then when the Wall that you set up breaks, pick up the Sage and leave the Sanctuary. Stay in place and wait a bit for the monsters to clear away from the Sanctuary, and then head right back in. This should allow you to beat the level in approximately 40 seconds while still getting the Great Knight rank. --- Level 13: Burning Desert: Barren Lands --- (4lvl13bdbl) This is, in my opinion, the hardest level to get a Great Knight rank on. It's because you have to get under 20 seconds for this level. That means spending 15 full seconds on a Sanctuary platform. That only leaves 5 seconds to get the Sage where you want him to be, or you can leave him where he is at the beginning of the stage. Now, I've tried many times to get the Sage to the bottom Sanctuary to stay safe from the army of lizards in the north. But that won't cut it this time. Even if you are insanely lucky, you will consistently get 20.5 seconds or higher. So this is what you're going to have to do... You will have to brave the lizards in the north and protect the Sage amidst the chaos. Completing this task with a Great Knight rank will be just about impossible without 2 level 2 Bombs. If you don't have those requirements yet, level up a bit in the past levels until you get them. (Sorry for asking you to grind, but this level kind of requires it...) When going into this level, take the 2 level 2 bombs with you. When starting out, throw the bomb into the southeastern area of lizards. Be careful to not hit the Sage with the bomb blast. Then wait for a split second before throwing it into the northeastern area of lizards. Again, be sure not to hit the Sage with the blast. If you're lucky, you'll take out most of the northern lizards with the second bomb. Now, just hold down the dash button and dash into all of the lizards in the west. When you die, get back to the Sage as fast as you can to revive yourself. When you're revived, repeat the process, but this time, do it to any lizards that are getting close to the Sage. Since the eastern lizards most likely recovered by now, you're going to have to watch out for them as well. If you are lucky, you'll be able to beat the level without having the Sage leave the Sanctuary. However, if things are getting really hairy, you can take the Sage off of the Sanctuary under three conditions. 1.) You have an escape path ready to go (this means no bumping into monsters) 2.) You have around 6 seconds left. Any more, and you won't be able to get a Great Knight rank if you get the Sage off of the Sanctuary. (If you want numbers, I'm happy to oblige. If you take off the Sage with 10 seconds left, that'll mean that 10 real seconds have passed. Since you have 10 seconds left on the clock, you won't be able to make it since you have to move the Sage somewhere safe, and you'll also have to wait an additional 10 real seconds.) Why 6 seconds? Well, it's because of this. If you're down to 6 seconds, that means that 12 real seconds have passed. If you add on the 6 seconds to the 12 seconds, that'll automatically add up to around 18 seconds of real time. Now, this'll give you 2 seconds to run away to someplace safe. Any less, and that place you ran to won't be safe enough to wait in while the Sage is finishing his spell. 3.) The place that you move the Sage to must be safe enough to be able to leave him there for the rest of the time. If you move him again, you will stop the clock and waste another valuable second or two, and you can't afford that if you want to get the Great Knight rank. However, it will be better if you don't try to move the Sage at all. If the time left is less than 4 seconds and the enemies are getting close, just risk it and dash into them while waiting for the spell to be completed instead of picking the Sage up in a panic. Unless of course, you have an escape route ready to go. Then, you can run for 3 seconds! XD Anyways, this level takes a lot of patience to beat with a Great Knight rank. Don't give up; you'll eventually get it, and when you do, that Great Knight rank will satisfy you a lot more than the other Great Knight ranks in the previous levels. Good luck! --- Level 14: Monster Swamp: Infinite Monsters --- (4lvl14msim) This is an easy level. You don't need to take any traps with you, but if you really insist, I'm not going to vote against it. It's not like you'll be losing a lot of HP this round anyway. From where you are, dash southeast and break the Bell by ramming into it. A large blue ghost will come out, but since it moves so slowly, it doesn't present much of a threat. Head north and grab a stick, and beat the blue ghost back when it attempts to get close to the Sage. You can lure the other humanoid type monsters away from the Sage by being close to them and then walking slowly to the south. If you can accomplish this while hitting the blue ghost, the Sage will cast his spell in 30 seconds flat. --- Level 15: Noise Town: Kill the Cause --- (4lvl15ntkc) Alright, this level may seem a bit difficult at first, but it's really not that bad. The game will introduce the concept of the golden bell, which is impossible to destroy. That means you'll have to get the Noise monsters away from the bell instead of rendering them helpless by destroying the bell. From where you are, grab the Sage and dash with him over to the Sanctuary. Set him down and pick up the two-by-four next to you. Dash over to the bell and hit all of the Noise monsters. Set the two-by-four down and pick up the dazed Noise monsters and throw them into the little corral in the north. Then hurry on back and pick up another one of them to throw into the corral. If the Noise monsters recover, just ram into them and hope that they don't hit the bell. After picking up and transporting all of the Noise monsters, the Sage will be able to cast his spell in peace, and this will result in you getting another Great Knight rank. --- Level 16: Shaking Cave: Fun With Bullwood --- (4lvl16scfb) This level is pretty difficult. Bullwood will be constantly following you around and you'll have to break the bell so that the Sage can start casting his spell. Pick up the Sage, and when Bullwood destroys the wall, dash northeast and set the Sage in the corner of the map. Then dash over to the bell in the northwest while avoiding the stupid red ape (if you bump into him, you lose a lot of time), and then break the bell by ramming into it. Then dash back to the Sage and dash with him over to the Sanctuary. Be sure not to run out of stamina, because that will probably let Bullwood catch up to you. Stay on the Sanctuary for as long as possible, but when Bullwood comes close, don't take any chances and run away from the Sanctuary. Just stay in an area until Bullwood comes close again, and then dash back to the Sanctuary with the Sage. Repeat this until the Sage finishes casting his spell, and you should be able to finish the level in under 40 seconds. Which will give you the Great Knight rank. --- Level 17: Sage in the Swamp --- (4lvl17sits) This level is a nice break from the difficulty of the previous one. When you get control of Knight, dash through the opening in the trees to the southeast. There's a path between the trees that leads straight to the bell, so don't bother with going the long way around. Break the bell, and then dash back to the Sage. Ram into the enemies to the east, and pick them up. Throw them into the little opening in the north. When you see the blue ghost coming closer, pick up the two-by-four next to the swamp, and hit the blue ghost with it over and over until the Sage is able to cast his spell. This strategy will allow you to beat the level in 30 seconds, and it will also give you the Great Knight rank. --- Level 18: Evil Lord's Castle --- (4lvl18elsc) ...Oh man, I hate Bullwood with a fiery passion. However, this level can be pretty easy as long as you have at least two bombs. When the battle starts, take out a bomb and toss it into the Sanctuary area in the northeast. Get out another one and do the same thing. Be sure not to get caught in the blast. Dash over to the Sage and dash with him over to the Sanctuary. Pick up the yellow worm there (it should still be dazed from the blast) and throw it into Bullwood. When Bullwood starts getting close, (this should be when the timer has about 8 seconds left or so) then Cling onto her and just hope the Sage can make it in time. After the scene, dash over to the Sage and pick him up. Dash with him to an area away from Bullwood. If you want to make things go by faster, after you set down the Sage, head over to Bullwood. Get in a position that will allow you to be knocked into a Sanctuary area that is surrounded by pillars, and then doing this will break the pillars surrounding the Sanctuary. I suggest getting thrown into the one in the south that used to have the Snake in it, because it has a Knight Sword hidden in its general vicinity. When Knight recovers, dash over to the Sage before Bullwood gets to him, and carry him over to the newly opened Sanctuary. Pick up the Knight Sword and keep hitting Bullwood to distract her while the Sage is recasting the spell. Watch the scenes after the battle, and you should be able to get the Great Knight rank. --- Level 19: Knight's Holiday... Or Not --- (4lvl19khon) For this level, take along one Bomb and one Scarecrow. As soon as you gain control of Knight, take out your Bomb and dash northwards. Throw it into the weird shaped wall next to the lizard to break it open. Remember, don't get caught in the blast. Next, dash down to the Sage and pick him up. Dash with him over to a safe area, and then head over to the bats. Set down your Scarecrow in an area that is close enough for the bats to see, but far enough away from the Sage that the bats veer off course. There will be another group of bats coming in from the north. Just ram into them as they come, and the Sage will finish casting the spell soon. There's also a Knight Sword in the area left of the Sage, so you can pick that up and hit the bats with it as they come. This will get you the Great Knight rank. --- Level 20: Fake Forest: Watch for Fakes --- (4lvl20ffwf) Take along as many bombs as you can. When the level starts, take out a bomb and throw it into the trees in the north. If you miss, just try again. Then pick up the Sage and dash northwards while avoiding all the trees. DO NOT TOUCH THE TREES. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM IS A MONSTER. Touching them will awaken the monster, so do not touch the trees. While maneuvering through the forest, set the Sage down in the Sanctuary to the north, and then dash into the bell until it breaks. You can just wait patiently after this happens, because no monsters will get to the Sage as long as you didn't awaken any monsters. This will get you the Great Knight rank. --- Level 21: Secret Factory: Bells --- (4lvl21sf:b) This level is annoying. Reason being, while breaking all the bells that you possibly can, there are going to be stupid wolves that get in the way as well. So, for this level, get as many bombs as you can. Pick up the Sage and dash him over to the Sanctuary in the west. Then take out a Bomb and dash over to the Bedlam Bells on the right. Throw the Bomb at the bells to destroy all of them, and then head south. Break the center Bell, and then throw a Bomb at the left Bell. Then throw a Bomb at the right Bell. This will render the southern Noise monster helpless. Now, go north to the golden Bell, and throw a Bomb there as well. Be sure not to get caught in the blast. Pick up the Noise monsters and toss them away from the Bell. After this is done, protect the Sage from the dogs by running into them, and soon enough, the Sage will cast his spell. All that is needed to beat this level with a Great Knight rank is skillful Bomb-throwing. --- Level 22: Fake Town: Sages Galore --- (4lvl22ftsg) Even though there are a lot of Sages in this level, there shouldn't be a problem with finding the right one. I mean, he has purple notes flying from his head! Anyways, the real Sage is the one in the southwest. You'll see purple notes flying from his head, and he'll be the only Sage that isn't moving. Pick him up and get him over to the Sanctuary. Dash over to the bell in the southeast and break it. Then dash over to the blue bell in the north, and you can either break it or just stun the Noise monster. Your choice. Personally, I like stunning the Noise monster because you don't have to try as hard to keep the blue ghost away from Sage. You will get a Great Knight rank in this level as well as long as you are able to disable the bells in time. Also, the Sage must be on the Sanctuary. You might not get the Great Knight rank if you don't have him there. --- Level 23: Deep, Deep in the Cave --- (4lvl23ddtc) This level is pretty difficult. The Sanctuary is guarded by two huge Snakes, and there are two bells to break. Not to mention the fact that there's a multitude of monsters gunning for the Sage. Bring along as many Bombs as you can. To start out, rush the Sage over to the northeastern corner of the map. Then throw a Bomb into the humanoids in the south. Rush through them to get to the Bell, and break it. Then rush through the humanoids again and get over to the Bell in the west. Break it, and then rush back as fast as you can to the Sage. Pick up the Sage and take him a little to the northwest. Throw a Bomb in the general vicinity of the Sanctuary to stun both of the Snakes. Then take the Sage in there and set him on the Sanctuary. If the Snakes recover, throw another Bomb at them, but be sure not to catch the Sage in the blast. As long as the Sage is fine, it doesn't matter if you get killed since you'll be really close to the Sage anyway. When the blue ghost comes, ram into it to try and stave it off while the Sage is finishing up his spell. If you are able to successfully protect the Sage, you will probably end up getting a Great Knight rank. If not, try to get the Sage to the Sanctuary faster. --- Level 24: Hero Castle: Knight VS Dark Knight --- (4lvl24kvdk) If you don't bring along around three Bombs or so for this fight, it's going to be pretty difficult to get the Great Knight rank. So if you can't bring along three Bombs, replay the previous levels until you are able to. However, if you feel like doing it without the Bombs, be my guest. You'll have to be able to get the Sage over to a Sanctuary and pick up a sword lying on the ground. You'll have to maximize the amount of enemy knights you kill with each swing, and this is no easy task. You'll have to keep this up for around 15 seconds or so, and if you can, good on you. You'll be one of the few who were able to do so. If you have the Bombs though, don't bother with going the hard way. Take as many Bombs as you can and as soon as the level starts, pick up the Sage and dash with him over to the Sanctuary in the southeast. Take out a Bomb and throw it into the knights coming from the south. Take another Bomb and throw it into the knights coming from the north. Take your third Bomb and throw it into the knights coming from the southwest. If you have any more Bombs, throw them into the knights that are closest to the Sage. But don't get the Sage caught up in the blast. If any knights get close to Sage after you used all your Bombs, pick up a sword on the ground and kill it by swinging the sword at it. The sword kills the knights in one hit, but it doesn't have a big area of effect. This is only good for warding off any solitary knights that are getting close to the Sage. If you are able to protect the Sage from getting hit at all, and are able to get him onto the Sanctuary and leave him there the entire time, then you will get the Great Knight rank. --- Level 25: Char Desert: Where's the Sword? --- (4lvl25cdws) In order to get the Great Knight rank here, you won't be able to move the Sage. He will have to stay in the same position the entire time. This can make things a bit difficult, but as long as you bring along 5 Bombs, you'll be fine. If you don't have five bombs, then just bring along as many Bombs as you can. Rush over the west and throw a Bomb into the worms coming from the southwest. Throw another one into the northeast area of worms. Then pick up the dazed worms that are closest to the Sage and thrown them away from the Sage. Keep doing this until the worms start recovering, and then head back to the Sage. Throw another Bomb to the left, and if there are still more worms coming, throw another Bomb. Keep picking up the dazed worms and throwing them away from the Sage. Use your last Bomb when the worms are bunched up, and then from then on, just dash into the worms that are getting close to the Sage. By the time all your Boms are depleted, you should have only around 7 seconds to wait. So just hold out for that long, and you'll get the Great Knight rank for this level. --- Level 26: Ghost Castle: No One Left --- (4lvl26gcnl) This level can be tough if you don't have Bombs... Good old trusty Bombs. But if you do have Bombs, then this level is a joke. From where you are, dash eastwards and then when you come to the end, head up. Throw a Bomb into the area with the Bell, and then dash back to the Sage. Pick up the Sage, and avoid the enemies while dropping him off at the Sanctuary. Pick out another Bomb, and throw it into the Bell to the north of the Sanctuary. Try not to hit yourself with the Bomb. Then, if enemies are coming from the south, ram into them until they become dazed. (Yes, ghosts can become dazed.) When the big blue ghost comes, throw Bombs at it to stall for time, and the Sage will be able to cast his spell before long. If you're having trouble finishing this level with this strategy, you might want to try this out. When you are grabbing the Sage to bring him to the Sanctuary, save up on Stamina and then dash all the way to the Sanctuary. If you move fast enough, this might make the enemies in the south notice you, but then since you move out of their range so fast, they won't go for you. Try whatever works best for you. --- Level 27: Warning: Dead End --- (4lvl27w:de) This level is really easy. Grab as many Bombs as you can (three will do) and enter this level. Grab the Sage and get him over to the northwest corner of the map. Set him down and then just wait. Around ten seconds or so, the enemies will start getting close. Then just start throwing the Bombs at the monsters and the Sage will finish his spell before most of them recover. This will net you a Great Knight rank. --- Level 28: Guardian Mountain --- (4lvl28gumo) This is a very easy level. Take as many Bombs as you can with you, and when the level starts, pick up the Sage. Dash with him into the Sanctuary to the east, and leave him there. Then take out a Bomb and dash south. Throw it into the monsters, and that should be able to stun most of them. Throw another one if you need to stun more of them. When the monsters are stunned, run south into the the Bells and ram them until they all break. If you feel like doing it faster and don't mind dying, you can simply throw a Bomb at close range. That will destroy all the Bells, but it will probably kill you too. After the Bells are broken, the Sage will cast his spell relatively quickly since there are no monsters to disturb him. This will get you the Great Knight rank. --- Level 29: Underground Ruins: Awakened Dragon --- (4lvl29urad) This level will take some time to beat. If you're going for the Great Knight rank though, you're going to have to beat it in 30 seconds or less. This is easier said than done. There is one Bedlam Bell in the level and it'll take a bit of time to get to. There's also many annoying yellow worms around the Sage. For this level, don't bring any items. You won't need them. When the battle starts, dash east into the worm there. When it gets dazed, pick it up and then carry it over to the west. Throw it into the other worm in the west, and make sure it hits. Dash south and then east, while avoiding all of the dinosaurs. Take the middle path in the east to get to the Bedlam Bell. Just ram into the Noise monster and pick him up. (If the Noise monster hits the Bell even once, you'll have to start over.) Then start heading back to the Sage with the Noise monster. Drop him off when you get a considerable distance between it and the Bedlam Bell. Dash back to the Sage while avoiding the dinosaurs, and when you get to the Sage, defend him from all of the worms. This will get you the Great Knight rank. --- Level 30: Goddess Shrine: Ultimate Spell --- (4lvl30gsus) For an ending level, this level is a joke. You don't need to bring any items with you, because you'll just be grabbing the Sage the entire time. When the level starts, grab the Sage and bring him onto the path of Sanctuary Tiles. Grillade will charge you, so move a little to the side. When Bullwood comes close, move north and stay on the Sanctuary. Grillade will charge again, so avoid him. When Bullwood comes, run back to the starting point of the Sanctuary (if you go to far north, then the evil knights will start coming out). Wait it out until the Sage finishes the spell, and you're done. Congratulations. You've beaten Knight 30 and finished it with an overall rank of Great Knight. And you also got Great Knight on every single level. Pat yourself on the back, but don't get too comfortable! It's time to save the world in 300 seconds. On to Hero 300! ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: HERO 300 ::::::::::::::::::::::::::(4hr300) Alright. Time for the ultimate showdown with Evil Lords. You'll be in the same game mode type as Hero 30, since you'll be playing as the Hero again. Back to the basics, eh? Anyways, get ready for 300 seconds of frantic running. As soon as the initial scenes are over, head northwards. Don't even bother with the castle, because there's nothing to do in there except read a letter. Head northwards and enter the village. Remember to always dash while in villages so that you don't waste time. Buy the wooden sword and get out of there. Fight enemies in the forest to the east until you reach level 3, and then enter the castle to the north. Don't dash in the battle, because you'll most likely die. After beating the enemies and breaking the pot, the Sage and the Knight will join your team. Dash east and after a little scene, head into the castle. Buy an herb and get out of there. Head east while killing enemies, and enter the white caravan next to the lake. Buy both the Barrel Armor and the Sandals and keep heading east. You'll eventually make it to an area where mountains surround a single tree. Enter that tree, talk to the princess, and head south. Fight until you have enough Gold for a Trident, and buy it. Now head back to the castle and if you already used an herb, buy another one. Head north and enter the next continent. Here, go north and buy the Flower Crown. Head west and then head north. You should see another small village. Enter it, and buy all the equipment that they offer. Once that is done, head east and then once you see the muddy swamp area, head south. That is where the Evil Lord resides. Dash into him the entire time and once he is defeated, he will join you. Head north-west and enter the cave to the north. After defeating the boss, quickly enter the cave to the north to face Larrie, Mo, and Cully. When you get out of the tunnel, train until you can buy both pieces of equipment in the village. Then dash over to both the tower in the northeast and the tower in the northwest. Defeat the bosses there by rushing into them, and then fight until you have enough money to buy the armor and the boots in the village to the south. Once you have enough money, go back through the tunnel and buy the armor and the boots. Then rush back into the tunnel. If you already got the message saying that you are more powerful than the evil, (which is level 40, I think) then head northwards. If not, fight until you reach level 40. Then dash northwards and you'll be given a message asking if you want to proceed or not. Confirm that you want to proceed... And you'll be taken to the last stage of Hero 300. If you don't have an herb, buy one in the village. Also, you will probably want to heal. Dash northwards and enter the castle. Just dash into the boss and you should be fine. After defeating that boss, you'll encounter another boss. You can't beat this boss, so just die. After watching the following scenes, go ride Syldonix and dash over to the boss again. Now just keep dashing into the boss. However, when the boss starts charging forward, Hold L and R to run backwards a bit so that you don't get too damaged by the charge. However, make sure that you don't get knocked out of the battle. Just keep dashing into the boss, and if your HP drops below 20, then heal. All you can do is keep dashing and avoiding and hope that you beat the boss before time runs out. (This entire strategy still works on Hard Mode, so you can do this on both Normal and Hard. It is noticeably more difficult on Hard Mode, so if you do decide to attempt Hard Mode, get ready for a lot of resets. Also, if you have less than 45 seconds to beat both final bosses, then reset. Because that's not enough time.) ...And that's the end of Hero 300! Now, if you want, you can try your hand at Hero 3. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: HERO 3 :::::::::::::::::::::::::::(4hero3) So when you start out in this... The Time Goddess will let you know that for beating Hero 300, you're given the opportunity to give Hero 3 a go. Yeah, you read that right. Hero "3". That's 3 seconds to complete the stage. You most likely will not finish this on your first go, because for one, even the slightest mistake will cause a Game Over. So get ready for some resetting. Anyways, on with the guide. There is no difficulty setting for this game mode. Seeing as how you only have 3 seconds to complete it, that in itself makes this mode difficult enough. Now... Just some things to keep in mind. 1.) Always make sure you have enough Gold to Pray so that you can reset your time. The fee for Praying starts out low as usual, but then it gets insanely high very quickly, so you have to be careful about how you use your money. 2.) Your HP may seem low as you level up... But it really isn't. You're barely dealt any damage at all; the only reason why it seems like your HP is low is due to leveling up. You won't have to heal that many times throughout Hero 3, so don't bother picking up a healing item until you really need one. 3.) ALWAYS dash when in battles. You won't be able to beat Hero 3 if you don't. 4.) If you're trying to get battles... walk around. This goes without saying but one time you might forget, and you'll just get another Game Over while searching for a battle while dashing around. Take a look at the general layout of the map before playing it. See, to the north-east is the enemy castle, and that's ultimately where you'll be going. You start out next to a village next to the sea, and this is where you'll be getting your first weapon. The village on the left is where you'll get a shield, and the little hut to the south is where you'll get the Hero Sword. Also, in the north is a village right next to the Evil Lord's castle where you will be able to stock up on time before facing the boss. Below is a link to a map of the area. All credit goes to shadow1w2 for making the map. www.gamefaqs.com/psp/956931-half-minute-hero/faqs/58546 Now, let's get to the strategy... (I'm going to presenting this as a step-by-step strategy because I can't think of any other way to beat this mode.) 1.) As soon as the clock starts counting down, hold down the Left button on the D-Pad. 2.) Immediately after you get into a battle, just dash through it. 3.) Get into another battle, and after that battle head on over to the village on the right. (You should be level 3 at this point.) 4.) Pray, and buy the Gladius. 5.) Exit village, and get over to the village on the left. Remember, as soon as you get into a battle, DASH. As soon as you get to the village, mash X to enter. 6.) Buy a 4-Leaf Chocolate to restore your HP, pray, and buy the Glass Shield. 7.) Head on out of the village, and keep getting battles in the desert area immediately to the right of the village. Kill two scorpions, and get back into the village on the left. Heal if your HP goes below 50. 8.) Repeat step 7 for a total of three times, and then head on south to the village there. Buy the Hero Sword, and head on over to the starting village. (Just dash on the map so you don't get into any battles.) 9.) Head up into the village to the north, and buy the Silver Mail. 10.) By walking around the area next to the castle, you'll encounter a gigantic bird. Kill it, and head back to the village next to you to Pray and get your health back, should your health fall below 50. 11.) Repeat step 10 for a total of four times, and then head back to the village. Pray, heal, and get ready to face the boss. You should be at least level 20 by now. 12.) Run up into the castle and enter it. Dash into the boss, and just hope to god that you beat it. If you guys think this strategy is ineffective, please let me know. I've beaten Hero 3 four times doing this, but it may not work for you. I know of some people who battle the ogres in the southern-most part of the map to beat the game, but I don't know how to implement the ogres in without wasting time. If you have a better strategy and you want to share it, please e-mail me; I'm open to all suggestions for this "sadistically hard" game mode. Now, there's a video on YouTube that shows a 13.67 second speed run of Hero 3. It's done by xarugas, and personally, I would never be able to get a run as good as that. But if you guys want to try a hand at his strategy... The link is below. Be warned; you'll barely be able to keep up with what he's doing! www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRyY4_ZtztU All credit for making the video and for doing the speed run goes to xarugas. =============================================================================== V. Help me out, please! (Vhmo,p) =============================================================================== Hey guys, what's up. If you're reading this, chances are you are interested in helping me out! For that, I thank you. Even if you don't plan on it, hey. At least you're taking the time to read what I'm typing. So anyways, as you guys may have noticed, this guide is not a perfect one by any means. However, you could help me get one step closer to perfection by pointing out any errors I have. Right below is a list of specific things I need help with. - Pointing out grammatical errors and/or typos - Improving strategies for each level - Any more concepts you think I should include in the Game Basics section - Any information/strategies I may have forgotten (it happens!) - Any improvements or suggestions for the strategies in Princess 30 (It's the one game mode that I can't master. Any help with improving the strategies in this section will be greatly appreciated!) - Any help concerning the ranks of Princess 30 (such as "Gorgeous" or "Legendary"...) If you have any suggestions for the guide whatsoever, don't forget to e-mail me. I read all of my e-mail, so your mail won't go unread. However, don't send me something like "Make the guide better". You would have to give me specific things to improve, because I myself don't know all of the things that need to be improved in the guide. As always, e-mail with constructive criticism is great. Anyways, I hope I was able to satisfy your needs with this guide, but to make it even better, you're going to have to help me out! =============================================================================== VI.
