Introduction and Controls - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rayman 3D is a three-dimensional platforming game created by Ubisoft. The guys that worked on this game later went on to create the wonderfully designed Beyond Good & Evil and are currently working on a new downloadable game also based in the Rayman universe! Butta, it's time to get down and dirty with that information! First off, the controls! A - Swim B - Jump X - Resurface Y - Shoot L - Target enemy R - First-person D-pad - Camera Circle pad - Move Start - Menu Well, that's the basic rundown of the controls. There are a couple of more things that you need to think about before you start playing though... And of course, that deserves its own section! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 2. Things to remember - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Lums = nummy! Lums are these little golden fairies that are dotted around everywhere in the game. These Lums need to be collected in order to gain access to levels later in the game, similarly to the function of stars in Mario. There are 1000 Lums to find in this game! Part of the point of this guide is to find all of them, or get close. Since the Lums are scattered throughout the level in a manner similar to how coins are in Super Mario 64, it's redundant to instruct you to go after every single one, when they are in plain view. I will try to be as thorough as possible in this guide, and I will point out the Lums that are harder to find. If you feel that I didn't cover a certain level enough or if I need to be more descriptive with explaining how to get some Lums, feel free to contact me and I will make the changes. Lums come in a variety of different flavors. There are the yellow Lums, which I explained in the previous paragraph. There are also red Lums. These Lums will recharge your health bar. Blue Lums predictably refill Rayman's oxygen gauge while he is swimming. Silver Lums grant Rayman new abilities. There are also bigger Lums with faces on them that are actually five Lums grouped together. And finally, there are green Lums that work like checkpoints in the game. Cages = not so nummy! Break them! These cages house things like Lums and long- nosed blue dudes that help you exit levels, among other things. Shoot at these cages repeatedly in order to break them. There are 80 in the game. Many of these are also in very plain view. Since there are considerably less cages than there are Lums, I have tried to list the location of every single cage in the game. I may have missed some, so if I did, once again, feel free to contact me and point out my mistake. This is a beginning to end walkthrough of the game with extra tidbits and info to make it a full FAQ/Walkthrough. I only specifically state when to revisit levels when it pertains to the storyline. There are some cages and Lums that can't be obtained until Rayman gains more powers later in the game, so keep that in mind as well. In my review for this game, I incorrectly said that there was no way to check level-by-level how many Lums or cages are left. I was told via e-mail by one of my readers here on GameFAQs, that by pressing B at each level, it will tell you the amount of Lums left to collect and cages left to destroy. The game saves automatically after the end of each level. Don't start a level if you aren't planning to play through the entire thing. This is a full walkthrough, and as a result, may contain spoilers. The 3DS had a tendency to crash on me until I downloaded the latest update for the handheld. You can do this through the 3DS's system settings, provided you have access to a Wi-Fi connection. And finally, Rayman 3D is a very intense 3D visual experience. Ghosting is a serious problem in the game. To avoid ghosting, adjust the 3D slider to meet your own 3D needs. Remember these things. It will be the most important thing you will ever do! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3. Walkthrough - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A. The Woods of Light - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * * * * * Lums: 5 Cages: 2 * * * * * After the cut-scene, shoot down that damn cage in your way! Then it's time to slide down the big...slide. Keep doing so until you end up in the titular Woods of Light. This place is just beautiful. The colors are vibrant, and the 3D rocks. A bug named Murfy will greet Rayman and explain the function of these stones emblazoned with his face do. They provide little gameplay tips and information. Follow the river until you find the first cage tucked in a cave. Destroy the cage and collect the Lums. The floor will then pull out and Rayman will fall through the hole. Jump up on the ledges. Collect any Lums you see, and then jump in the water. Go to the waterfall and collect the Lum. Work your way backwards a little bit in order to make some more upwards progress. Use the helicopter ability by jumping, and then pressing the jump button again to flying across the gap. Have a quick talk with Globox's little runts. Enter the cave behind the kids after they are done talking. Murfy shows back up to explain the art of climbing to you. Make your way to the small area between the two large rock walls. Keep jumping up the space, collect the Lum, and make your way to the top. At the top, there will be a cage that is suspended. Blast it and free the Teensies! That wraps up the first level. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - B. The Fairy Glade - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * * * * * Lums: 50 Cages: 7 * * * * * It's time to find Ly! Upon entering the Glade, do a little bit of swimming. Towards the right of the level, there is an opening underwater. Swim down there to collect Lums and destroy a cage. Be sure to collect the blue Lums that are under the water to replenish Rayman's oxygen bar. If you don't it's deadsville for Rayman. Once you're done swimming, use the purple mushroom to collect more Lums and bounce up to a log that you can shimmy across. Shimmy to the other side and collect the Lums here. Make your way through the new cave area until you come across lillipads. Jump across the lillipads, avoid the Rayman-eating fish while you do this. You can shoot the fish if you wish, but it's a lot easier to just jump past them. Then jump on the ledges along the cliffside until you reach the top. Shoot the switch when you see it, and then start walking across the top of the log. Collect any Lums you see. Walk across the log until you a cage comes into view. Destroy it. Jump and hover off the log to reach the area that the switch opened up to you. Go through, jump down, let the current carry you, and continue onwards. The path here is fairly linear. Just keep walking through the level, collecting Lums, until you get to a hexagonal platform. This platform will move across the water. Let it carry you until you can jump on dry land. Work you way to the top. There will be platforms that are going up and down. Use them to jump up to a new area. Walk until you see vines growing on a tree. Use these vines to climb to the very top of the tree. When you can't climb anymore, walk along the branch and drop down on a waterfall slide. Collect red Lums as necessary to restore health and then collect the checkpoint green Lum. Use the vines to shimmy across the rock wall. Be sure to avoid the Rayman- eating fish. If they bite you, you will fall and have to reclimb the vines. Shimmy across until you reach the next area. Ah! Robot pirates! Trick the robot pirate into firing a cannonball on the wooden door on the ground. Drop down into the newly-created hole. In this poison-filled area, jump across the boxes to avoid taking damage. Climb up the spiderwebs. Avoid the exploding barrels. They won't knock you all the way down, but they deal a fair amount of damage. Just alternate between right and left and you should be fine. Blast open the door. Sleeping guards and a switch, eh? With the path to the right blocked off by dangerous blue lasers, take a left. Use L to target the robot pirate. Strafe to the left and right, avoiding the blasts, and constantly shoot at the robot pirate. Keep firing until he's dead. Head through the open door next. In here, kill the robot pirate. Pick up a keg and then walk back outside. Throw the keg at the steel door and head down the stairs. Destroy the cage down here and collect the Lums. Head back up the stairs and return to the room with the power kegs. Climb up the chainlink and then use the net on the ceiling to shimmy around and collect Lums wherever possible. Keep scaling around until you are on a ledge. Below you, there will be a blue laser moving back and forth and a net suspended over poisonous goo stuff. There is also a switch on the wall. Hop down. Avoid the blue laser, and use the net as a trampoline to propel yourself upwards. Shoot the switch, and jump up in the opening. Avoid the blue lasers and head down the stairs. Fire mercilessly at the sleeping pirate robot guard until he bites the dust. Shoot the switch and then hop down. You can now head through the area that was previously blocked by blue lasers. Head down the stairs. Avoid the blue lasers in this hallway and keep heading down the stairs. Jump off to the side when you can and hover down. Collect the Lums, don't fall in the goo, and then use the walkway. You'll come across another powder keg. Pick up the keg. Walk forward. Bombs will start flying at you, so throw the keg in the air. Destroy the bombs with your laser hands. When you get across the wooden bridge, chuck the keg at one of the X's band-aiding the pipes. Repeat this process until all of the X's are destroyed. Destroying this machine will free Ly and trigger a cut-scene. Ly will pack Rayman up with steroids--er, a new ability. The ability to swing across gaps! Once you regain control, hover to the net and climb up. There will be a floating, glowing ring over the gap. Jump across the gap and swing across to the other side. Jump up the middle of the pipes to the top. Keep going to reach yet another new area. Walk across the large pipe, and then jump down. Collect Lums, and keep hovering down the hole. Keep going until you see a pipe with a sleeping pirate robot guard and a cage on it. Land, kill the guard, and destroy the cage. Jump down to the wooden bridge suspended over the black goo. Head through to the new area and grab more Lums on the way. Keep going until Murfy decides to interrupt my walkthrough again. After Murfy explains the laws of wind to Rayman, hover up the wind currents until there is a floating ring to use it to swing across the gap. Destroy the cage in the alcove by shooting the hell out of it. This will free Teensie inside. He'll explain a point to destroying the cages. Destroy them in order to lengthen the health bar. Do a little jig with the Teensie and...level complete! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - C. The Marshes of Awakening - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * * * * * Lums: 50 Cages: 5 * * * * * Jump across the lillipads until you get to the net. Shimmy along the net and then jump over it. There will be a cage submerged in the murky swamp water. Shoot the crap out of the cage to free Ssssssam. Jack Swagger's snake, apparently. Swagger's snake sam will offer to be your personal jet-ski. Shoot at Sam to latch on to him. Avoid the dangerous fish and any obstacles that come in your way. Collect the Lums and run into any submerged cages in order to break them open. Sam will ski you to a new area eventually. In this new area, do the same thing. Avoid obstacles, which now include bombs and a jerky pirate robot in a ship. Sam will eventually drop you off. After the tearfull goodbye, shoot the suspended cage to release the Teensie. Do the jig with the Teensie to complete the level! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - D. The Bayou - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * * * * * Lums: 50 Cages: 7 * * * * * After the cut-scene in which the jerk Razorbeard eats an innocent (and yes, a tad delicious) Lum, jump on the hexagonal platform to start your journey in the murky swamp waters. Jump onto the first land that you have the ability to, and then take care of the nearby cage. Jump on the next hexagonal platform you see and avoid the bombs or destroy them as necessary. When this platform reaches the end of its destination, climb up the ladder. Shoot the switch and then hover over to the wooden bridges. Be quick, as they tend to wobble and fall into oblivion. Keep walking along the bridges until you reach another ladder, a sleeping guard and a cage. Destroy the cage, kill the robot pirate man, and then swing across to the hexagonal platform again. Destroy the ghost monster demon things as the platform floats along in pursuit of the ship. Hover downwards to the next hexagonal platform after reaching a waterfall, destroying a suspended cage as you float to the ground. Use that hexagonal platform to reach a wooden bridge that will fall if you don't get off it quick enough. At this point, cannonballs will become an issue for Rayman. One cannonball will destroy the bridge in front of you. After that happens, use the ring to swing across the gap. Destroy the cage located on the nearby island, and then push forward. Keep walking along, avoiding cannonballs and collecting Lums until the next area is reached. Beware of fish sign, huh?! Well, do that. Hover across to the log, and dodge any fish that try to eat you. Hover off the log, collecting Lums as you do so. Walk through to the next place, hovering over the gaps as necessary, and keep going until you do battle with another robot pirate. Kill the living crap out of him with your shooty fists. Shoot the nearby switch hanging on the cliffside and then keep pushing forward. Avoid the powder kegs that fall out of the wall and collect Lums. Keep jumping and hovering through the level, avoiding the powder kegs and falling to your doom as you do so. There's a lot of Lums to collet, so do so. Shoot the next switch you find, and then walk across the bridge it makes. Swing across the gap to meet a new kind of enemy. These guys with blue-striped shirts are kind of jerks. He will charge you, so jump over him and continue through the level. Make your way through the hallway filled with swinging guillotines (just like at home!), and then make your way through the next hazardous hallway filled with explosive powder kegs. Drop off the ledge to find a secret lower ledge. Shoot the cage suspended over nothing and then use the ladder to climb back up. Use the trampoline pads to destroy the cage up here. Then use the rampolines to jump to the top. Chill with your Teensie pal and beat the level! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - E. The Sanctuary of Water and Ice - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * * * * * Lums: 50 Cages: 2 * * * * * Ohh, those darn Teensies! You need 100 Lums to pass through the big stone door. If you have been following this guide, you should have enough Lums, easily. If not, just revisit some of the older levels until you have enough Lums. Kill the new pirate robot guy that likes to spin into the ground everywhere by shooting him like crazy. When he's dead, walk across the pier to find another cage. Destroy it. Then walk up the cliffside at the beach, collecting the Lums as you go. At the top, you will reach a reservoir of water. Start swimming! Swim down the hole. Be sure to collect the Blue Lums to replenish your oxygen as you swim. Keep swimming until you reach a new area. In this area, there will be a cage sitting by itself. Destroy the cage and swim back to where you came from. Jump onto the area with the boxes and then climb up the net. When you reach the top, drop down. Walk along the stairs until you come to a place with a blue pyramid and an orange pyramid. Kill the robot guard here and then walk up the nearby ramp. Grab the powder keg there. Carry the powder keg and destroy one of the steel doors in the area. There's one on either side of the glowing pyramids. Destroy both steel doors. Go into the one that's closest to the kegs. Walk into here and...yup, Murfy will interrupt my guide again! Damn him! Grab the orange sphere in this area and then walk it outside. Chuck the orange sphere onto the orange pyramid. Then head into the other area that was blocked off by the steel door and grab the blue sphere. Use the blue sphere on the blue pyramid to unlock the big door. Walk through the cave area. Collect all the Lums in this room. Then head through the door. Time to slide! Jump over the gaps, but be sure to avoid jumping while actually sliding. The result is that Rayman gets slowed down and it's easier for him to fall off the sides and to his death. Keep sliding down the slide until you meet... * * * * * * * * * * BOSS FIGHT!!! Axel * * * * * * * * * * Axel will chuck ice ate you, so avoid that. If you get hit, don't worry too much about it, though. You'll just have to climb back up and start swinging across those purple rings again. Keep swinging on the purple rings, avoiding the ice, and forcing Axel to retreat. Shoot the big ice above his head when you have the chance. It will fall on his head and kill him. Well, that was easy! * * * * * * * * * * BOSS FIGHT!!! Axel * * * * * * * * * * Walk through the temple area until you are rewarded with a mask. The mask will then teleport Rayman out of the level! Polokus will then reveal himself and explain that Rayman needs to collect three more masks to get more aid in defeating the evil robot pirate dudes! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - F. The Menhir Hills - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * * * * * Lums: 50 Cages: 8 * * * * * Murfy explains some junk to Rayman at the start of the level. A missile with legs will chase after you. Run around in circles until it wears itself out, and then jump on its back! Ride the rocket across the thorns, and then make it run into the steel door to reveal a cage. Destroy the cage and head up the nearby stairs. Kill the sleeping robot pirate guards in this new room. Remember to strafe and fire rapidly to kill the guards quickly. A door will open up once this is done. Head through the door to find a cage on a table that you should destroy. Head back into the room where the sleeping pirates were and go through the area you haven't been through yet to reach a new area. Out here, use the purple mushroom to bounce up to another mushroom in the tree. Swing across using the purple ring to nab a Lum and destroy a suspended cage. Jump back down, collect any Lums, and get the attention of the pet rocket. Wear it out by running around in circles and then jump on its back. Pilot it over the vines and through the opening. Avoid any vines that pop out of the ground and just keep going straight, essentially. Collect as many Lums as possible while avoiding the obstacles and keep pushing through. Use it to destroy the steel door that you finally come across. Then hop down and pick up a powder keg. Move the keg into the torch to light it and use it as a rocket to make it across the gap. Destroy the cage here and then use a keg to send yourself back across. Head through the door you blew open earlier, kill the pirate guard, and shoot the switch. Head down the stairs... A cut-scene will trigger. Meet Clark! Clark wants you to backtrack. Bad, bad Clark. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - G. The Marshes of Awakening Revisited - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Clark is feeling a bit under the weather. Poor dude. Head back to the Marshes of Awakening. So we can heal this guy! When you get there, climb up the tree trunk with all the torches on it. Kill any ghosts that get in your way as well as an unsavory eyeballs. You'll then meet a big green frog thing that invites you to the Cave of Bad Dreams. Ooo. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - H. The Cave of Bad Dreams - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * * * * * Lums: 50 Cages: 0 * * * * * Walk along the spinal cord and then swing across using the purple ring. Don't fall into the icky purple stuff. Use the skulls to platform your way across the disgusting purple river of death. Scale the bones hanging out of the walls and then use the skulls that fall down as platforms. Hop up to the ledge. Avoid the skeleton hand coming out of the wall, and swing across to more bones for you to climb. Collect any Lums you see, and then hover over to a big bone tower that you can climb. Once you reac the top, quickly swing over to the next bone tower, as they tend to sink. Hover over to the next one after that, and then finally hover over to a ledge. Collect the Lums and avoid the hands that try to pull Rayman into the walls, Freddy Krueger-style. Jump up the space inbetween the walls and collect the Lums once you reach the top. Hover over to the next place, where there is a glowing orange pyramid. Kill the hopping skeleton monsters that you come across by shooting them to death. Grab the sphere and chuck it onto the pyramid. A platform will raise, revealing a hole that Rayman can fall down into. Once down in the hole, avoid the ghost thing that tries to hurt you and keep going until you find more skulls to jump on. Use the skulls, which will be lifted into the air by skeleton hands, to reach the rotating platforms. Jump across the platforms to grab another sphere. Throw the sphere on the rotating platforms and the ledges to work your way backwards. Throw the sphere onto the blue pyramid. Go to the area you haven't explored yet and use the purple ring to swing across to the skull that's been moved around by a skeleton hand. Work your way through this area, jumping on platforms and skulls and swinging on purple rings as need be. Avoid the smokey ghost things and collect any Lums that you see. Grab the sphere after riding the skull to the top, and then throw it to the next ledge. Hover across and then throw the sphere down, towards where you entered this room at. Deliver this sphere to its rightful place at the orange pyramid. Enter the new area that opens up and then drop down in the hole. Time for more slide action! The green dude from earlier tries to give you crap. Avoid him until you reach bone towers! Because then it's time for... * * * * * * * * * * BOSS FIGHT!!! Green Frog Thing * * * * * * * * * * Once you reach the bone towers, you'll have to fight the green dude that sent you to this place to begin with. He will spit gunk at you. Avoid the gunk and shoot at him. He will flee and then start shooting skulls at you. Shoot a skull to stop it in mid-air. Then jump on that skull and shoot the next skull to work your way towards the green dude. Basically, suspend the skulls in air in order to use them to reach the boss. Keep chasing the dude down until a cut-scene is triggered! * * * * * * * * * * BOSS FIGHT!!! Green Frog Thing * * * * * * * * * * Rayman will be offered two options. Take all the gold or don't. If you take all the gold, Rayman apparently eats it and lives happily ever after on a desert island and the game ends. However, if you don't take the gold, Rayman snaps out of his nightmare and is offered the drink necessary to heal Clark. Leave the level after receiving the drink by returning to the portal that brought you to the level in the first place. Or you could play through the whole level again if you missed any Lums or cages the first time around. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I. The Menhir Hills Revisited - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Go back to Menhir Hills now that you have the healing juice for Clark. Just play through the level as normal. Wear out the rockets, use them to get by the thorns, kill any robot pirate guards, and collect Lums that you may have missed before. When you reach Clark, Rayman will give him the drink and heal him up! Clark will then run right throught he nearby wall. Instead of following him through the hole, head to the left to reach a grassy area where there are Lums to find. Afterwards, head back to Clark's hole in the wall and go through it. Jump on the box to give yourself enough height to use the rings to swing across the gap. When you reach a ledge, just keep swinging on the rings to make it to a higher area where a cage will be there to destroy. Then return to the lower ledge and head through the door, causing Rayman to drop down. Clark will run through another wall. Follow him and head down the stairs in the next room. Jump off the balcony and then jump on the stump. Use the rings to swing across to a cage that needs breakin'. Wear out the rocket that is down here and then use him to zoom up in the nearby opening in the cliffside. Avoid all of the rocks as they come out of the ground and just keep riding the rocket straight. Keep doing this until a cut-scene occurs. Wooshaw! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - J. Run away from the spider and use the webs on the wall to scale the wall and escape. Grab the Lums as you can. When you see a purple ring , use it to swing across and reach a gap where there is a cage. Destroy the cage, and then head through. Hover across the gap, destroy the next cage that you will see, and then jump down the hole. Walk across the wooden bridge and do battle with the evil robot pirate. Shoot the switch that's across the way and Globox will waddle out. Backtrack a bit and walk across the other gap, where Globox will be, as well as a door made out of red lasers. Globox will summon the rain to destroy the lasers. Head through this area, and then collect any Lums down here while you wait for Globox. Globox will do a weird dance and summon more rain. This will create a flower of sorts. Jump on the flower and then it will start mflying. Ride the carpet until the first opportunity to jump off presents itself. Grab the Lums and then shoot the pillar to create a bridge for Globox. With Globox, head through the only open area to find fire blocking your way. Globox will get rid of the fire with his rain, and then keep going forward. Do battle with the pirate and then a cut-scene will occur. During this cut-scene, Rayman will be awarded with the ability to charge his shots before firing them. In the next area, a pirate ship that shoots cannonballs will fire maliciously at you (as if there's another way to shoot cannonballs that isn't malicious). When the pirate ship leaves, a robot pirate will take its place to try to kill you. Avoid his attacks from across the gap and then just dig into him with repeated shots until he perishes. Return to Globox to let him know that the coast is clear. Globox will use his rain powers to destroy the red laser door that is blocking your progress. Through this door there will be a pirate to contend with. After he is defeated, keep pressing onward to the next room. Jump on the boxes and then uses the purple ring to propel yourself across the room. Destroy the cage that is hanging off the wall. Then chill out next to the flower thing on the ground. Globox will do his dance and then you can hop into the flower to covertly make your way into the next door in a manner that would make Solid Snake proud. When the red spotlight lands on you, just be sure not to move. In the next room, shoot the cage to release the Teensie inside and then get your groove thing on to head to the next level! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - K. This guy is a dude in a big barrel. Shoot the barrel guy while avoiding his attacks. Go through to the next area where there will be a big fishtank. Hop into the water and swim around and explore. Grab the blue Lums and resurface when you can to shoot the switch. Jump out of the tank and head to the next area with a bridge made out of netting. Hop onto the little platform under this in order to shimmy around under the netting to collect the Lums. Then head to the next net bridge. Shimmy around under this one as well in order to collect even more Lums. Head to the next area. An evil pirate will start shooting at you from elevated safety. Fire back at him like always until he stops firing. Jump down to the sandy area and use the barrels to reach the netting. Scale the netting and then hover over to the balcony. Turn around and shoot the switch in order to get rid of the blue lasers blocking the nearby doorway. Head through the door, collecting the Lums and avoiding the barrels rolling at you. Rayman will be made aware of a sleeping guard. Shoot the guard repeatedly while avoiding all of the blasts from the pirate guard. A nearby alcove will yield an explosive powder keg. Use the powder keg to destroy the steel door. In this room there will be a cage to destroy and a purple ring will be set free . Use the palm trees to reach the purple ring and swing across to a new area. This area is a beach area. Murfy will show up and explain to you the problems of Carmen San Die--er, Carmen the Whale. I guess that's why it's called Whale Bay, huh? Submerge yourself in the water. Carmen will be under the water in a cave that is blocked off by big blue lasers. Hmm...There is a hole next to her prison that you can swim through. Keep swimming until you reach dry area. Jump into the new area and head through until you find the switch. Shoot the switch to free Carmen. Climb the netting and then dive back into the water. Follow Carmen as she swims through the water and collect the bubbles she releases in order to replenish your oxygen supply. Keep following Carmen until you reach the next area. In this area, piranhas will swipe the air bubles if you aren't quick enough. You can kill the piranhas by shooting at them if they get too close for comfort. Keep following Carmen, collect the air bubbles, and destroy the piranhas if they get too close to the air bubbles. When you find a submerged pirate ship of shorts, head through. Swim through this ship until you finally resurface. Hop out of the water and walk out to be on the other side of the ship. Use the netting hanging off the nearby cliffside to climb up. If you look carefully, you will notice a big hole in the wall right next to the netting. Jump into the hole. Avoid the blue guy's attacks, and destroy the cage that's inside to free a Teensie! Follow the Teensie to reach the end of the stage. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - L. The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * * * * * Lums: 50 Cages: 8 * * * * * You should have enough Lums to pass through the big door. If you don't, then just revisit older worlds and do a bit of exploring. It's not hard to find Lums in this game, trust me. After you've entered the sanctuary, hover down to the lava pit. Obviously, land on the part that isn't lava. Keep going until you come across yet another robotic pirate guard to do battle with. Kill him with blasts while avoiding his attacks. After he is dead, use the nearby netting on the ground as a trampoline to bounce yourself onto the metal walkway. There will be an X on the silo to shoot. Do so, and your reward will be a release purple ring. Use the ring to swing across to the next platform available. If you turn around and look back at the silo, you'll see another X to destroy. If you want, you can shoot to release another ring. This will allow you to reach a previously inaccessible area on the silo that will allow you to grab a power-up that turns your gloves golden. Regardless, head through to the unexplored area. Kill the robot guard and then jump across the gap. Make it through the tunnel with lava by jumping from platform to platform. Eventually you'll run out of places to go. Shoot the plum off the wal and then jump on it to ride it on the lava. Yes, I know. Ubisoft really did do their science homework when creating this game. Jump on land when you have the chance and then use the spiderweb hanging from the ceiling to shimmy over the lava. There will be another plum to shoot off the wall. So, do it. By the way, you need to shoot behind yourself to give the plum propulsion, but that's pretty obvious. Use the next plum to reach a place that allows you to jump up to a new area. In this next area--MURFY! Gawd! Let Murfy explain the art of throwing fruit. Then follow his advice. Shoot the plum out of the nearby tree and chuck it into the lava. Hop on the plum and shoot yourself against the lava current to reach a new room. Head through the door in this new room to end up in another new room! Use the moving platforms to traverse safely across the lava. Avoid the fire that comes out of the walls. Climb up the platforms and then hover across to destroy another cage. Then jump down and shoot the door multiple times in order to break it. Head through. Shoot the spike off the ceiling. Avoid the fire in hallway and then keep pushing on. Shoot another spike to create a platform in the lava and use it to help you reach the platforms which will in turn help you make it safely across the lava. Shoot the tower with the X on it when you get the chance to make a bridge for yourself. Hover down to the next set of platforms. Avoid the fire spewing out of the wall, shoot the spike to create a platform, and then use that to head to a moving hexagon. The hexagon will travel down the river of lava at a slow pace. Just ride it until it comes to a stop. Then hover across to the next set of platforms. You will see a cage hanging, and of course, destroy the thing. Jump up to a new room, killing any little spiders that you see. Use the purple ring to swing across the gap. Then head down into the next room. Man, this place takes forever! Hover to the hexagonal platform to get it moving .To avoid the fire, shoot the spikes off the ceiling and jump over to them for safety as necessary. Make it across the lava and then head to another room with three breakable doors. Destroy the one in the middle for a cage, destroy the one on the right for some Lums. Destroy the one on the left for a GIANT SPIDER which you should kill. Head through this door and find a rocket to ride. Ride the rocket through the tunnels and over the beams and from platform to platform . Ride the rocket until you find yet another breakable door. Hop off the rocket and destroy the door. Head through to reach the boss! Just joking, it's just another new area for you to explore in this lengthy level. Jump down into the center area where there will be lava and a plum hanging off the wall. Use the plum to travel down the lava river. Jump onto the metal platform you come across and kill the robot guard. Then follow the metal platforms to discover anotoher cage. Destroy the cage then head backwards. Hover across to a platform jutting out of the wall next to a laval waterfall. Use this platform to hover across to a hole in the wall. A green dude with skeleton hands will try to kill Rayman in this room. He will also try to hide. The key is to just spam shots at him and hope they stick. After this guy dies, he turns into a plum. Use the plum to reach a ledge that will lead Rayman outside of the sanctuary! Collect the Lums in this new canyon-like place. And then...fall through the ground to your death! But not quite. Hop on the plum down here and use it as your boat across the lava slide river. Avoid the yellow lava as it will destroy the plum for some reason and kill you. Eventually, there will be a drop-off. At this point, you should hop off the plum and then hover down to the next plum. Use this plum to continue your journey down the lava slide of death! Avoid the tentacles that come out of the walls and try to kill you. You can shoot them to make them retract back into their holes. Keep riding the plum until you fall down... Just to do more plum-riding. Continue to ride the plum. You'll eventually see a door! Phew. Head through that door to reveal a dark area with platforms and enemies on the platform. Kill the enemies and grab the sphere. Start chucking the sphere from platform to platform, avoiding the hazardous obstacles as you do so. Carry the sphere through the hallway where you will find a plum and more lava. Hop on the plum and ride it across while carrying the sphere all at the same time. Head into the next room. Walk across the bridge and then throw the sphere in its rightful place on the orange pyramid. A nearby door will start rotating. Hmm...You'll notice another pyramid to deal with in the same room during this little cut-scene. It's time to find the sphere for that one as well in order to continue through this sanctuary. Jump up to the door that rotated and head through it. Shoot the plum down and then commandeer it. Jump down into the lava with the plum until you reach a door shaped similarly to the one in which you entered the room. Head through this door and then hop on the next plum you see to continue riding the lava waves. There is a breakable door etched into the wall that you should destroy and then jump through. Jump from platform to platform in this new area. Snatch any Lums that you see and then chase the purple ring down the slide. Avoid the fire coming out of the walls and don't fall off into the lava. Follow the slide until you drop down again. Ugh... You'll now be in an elevated position of the room that with the glowing pyramids. Hop across from platform to platform in here to collect the Lums. Then jump up and grab the sphere. Chuck the sphere off of here and then throw it onto the remaining glowing pyramid. * * * * * * * * * * BOSS FIGHT!!! Umber * * * * * * * * * * Probably the hardest boss in the entire game! Nah, I kid. It's pathetic that this is even considered a boss. I debated whether or not to even call it that in this guide, but it is introduced like the other bosses, so I'm just going to roll with it. Just use the purple ring to reach an elevated position. Hover on top of Umber's head. He will then start walking down the lava path. Jump off when you have the chance and head up the stairs to collect the second mask! * * * * * * * * * * BOSS FIGHT!!! So, after this first switch is activated, turn around and hover across to the area directly in front of Rayman. There will be a hole in the ground to fall through. Dive into the water and keep swimming until you resurface. Nail the switch and then dive back into the water and return. Shoot the plum down and pick it up. Throw it at the blue charging guy in this room and then jump over him to climb up the net. Climb out of this place. Do you see the big gap with the two platforms to jump on? Head that way. Jump on the platforms and make it across. Hover down to the platform. Shoot the pirate from the other side, and then shoot the switch to make the rocks in the middle rise up. use them to jump across to the place that the pirate was. Shoot the switch there. Then return to the button, shoot it again, make the rocks rise again, and use them to reach the net. Climb up the net to get outside. Jump on the floating platforms. As they rise, jump off and hover to the next. Immediately head up the sloped net and shoot the button you see. This opens a door that's right next to you. Head through the door and shoot the switch. Hover down to ehg round below and you can now enter a door that has been unlocked from you shooting all the switches! Head through the door. Pick up the powder keg and light it with the torch. Ride it to the top of the structure sticking out of the swamp water and make it ram into the cage. Jump down to a lower part of the structure where kegs respawn. Grab another keg, light it, and use it to fly through the tunnel. Keep flying with the keg until you reach an area with a blue guy. Trick him into falling off the edge and into the water by jumping over him when he charges. Then grab the keg he was guarding, light it, and fly it into the switch that is attached to the wall. The door that the blue guy was next to is now open, so head back there and go through. Break the cage in here, light the keg, and ride it into the next room. Keep flying straight until you can run head-first into a pirate guard to kill him instantly. There's some net hanging over the swamp water. Use it as a trampoline to bounce up and grab the net hanging above it. While hanging there, shoot down the cage. Now get next to the keg and torch. Shoot the button on the wall and quickly grab the keg. Light it and fly it through to the next room. When you see another keg, ram the current one into the wall and pick up the new keg. Light the new keg and fly it to the platform. Climb up the structure to find another cage. Destroy the cage to free a Teensie. You'll eventually see a cage hanging down, so be sure to destroy it. Remember to go as fast as you possibly can to avoid falling to your death. Rockets will start to chase you and you'll come across another cage. If the rocket is behind you, just outrun it. If the rocket is in front of you, be sure to shoot it. Keep running through this part, until you finally come across a switch and yet another cage. Shoot the switch. Destroy the cage. Walk through the door. Oh, no! More wobbly bridges! Dodge the cannonballs and move as fast as possible to make it to the nearby structure. Use the trampoline to bounce up and use the netting to shimmy along. The water will start to rise and you'll have to move quickly. Keep going and eventually you'll also have to jump over barrels that will roll at you. Keep pushing through, use the trampoline to bounce up higher, grab the golden gloves, destory the cage, use the netting to keep climbing, and then jump your way to the top of the structure. Once at the top, you'll have to battle a pirate robot. Kill him and shoot the switch behind him to disable the nearby laser beams. Climb the net ladder and shoot the switch up there and also destroy the cage. Jump on the new bridge- like platform that is next to you and run along to the next area. Hover to the bridge. There are rockets here that will try to kill you as well as cannonballs that the pirate ship will constantly fire at you. Avoid the cannonballs and the rocket. Use the netting to make your way across the gaps when needed. Keep going until you drop down into a large canyon. Hover through this canyon. Follow the line of Lums and try to nab them all as you descend. If enemies show up, be sure to blast them to get rid of them. Keep hovering downwards until you find yet another bridge hanging out of yet another cliffside. Do the same old routine. Move quick, avoid cannonballs, and kill any rockets that try to suicide bomb you. Once you reach solid ground, keep going. Kill the robot pirate that appears quickly. The pirate ship will also be around shooting cannonballs at you, so be sure to dodge those still. Once the robot is dead, a door opens up with a cage inside. Ignore that for now and walk right past it to discover a ramp leading to the area above the cage. There are a couple of Lums here for you to collect. Keep walking until you find a hallway with barrels rolling at you. Be sure to avoid the barrels as much as possible. Use the netting you find to climb up to the next place. In this room full of boxes, there is another enemy in a barrel to fight with, plus a bunch of Lums. Grab all the Lums and kill the enemy. There's also a cage in this room so be sure to destroy that as well. There's a powder keg in this room, so grab it. Search until you find a room with a platform that rotates. Wait for it to get next to Rayman and for the fan side to be down. Hop on the platform and carry the keg into the next area where you can chuck it at the steel door. Jump down into this next place for golden gloves and a Lum. The Teensie that was imprisoned here will now run free! Chase him. Ghosts will try to attack you as the platform makes its rounds, so be sure to take them out as soon as they appear with a nice blast. Once the platform comes to a halt, jump on the bridge area and avoid the rollling barrels. Hover over to a nearby tree branch, and then hover down to tree trunks sticking out of the murky water. Blast the eyeballs that are on the tree trunks and continue to travel across them. Jump onto the large turtle shells when you can and then hover down onto another set of bridges. Turn around and destroy the cage that is behind Rayman and then swing across the gap to the next bridge. Avoid falling into the swamp water. Grab the golden gloves that are sitting on the tower and then destroy all of the violent eyeballs in the next room. Head into the next room, collect the Lums, and defeat any enemies. Walk up the ramp, and you'll notice a cage hanging off the side. Jump down, shooting the cage on your way, and then make your way back up to where you were. Go through the door to reach the next area. In this place, defeat all the smokey enemies in here with blasts from where you are standing. You can climb on the fencing on the wall opposite of Rayman, so do so to collect Lums and continue on your path. Avoid falling into the thorns and dodge the tentacles when they burst through the walls. Eventually you will reach a room with Lums in a circle surrounding a purple flower suspended in mid -air. Jump on the flower and it will start to move. Blast the tentacles as you see them while on the flower. When you reach the part when you are flying over the thorns, be sure to turn to the right and destroy the cage that's there. Stay on the flower and it will carry you into a brand new place. In here, jump off of the flower before it catches on fire and shoot the cage. Now you have to move from flower to flower before they burn up. When you go through a door, you will no longer have to worry about fire, but there will be tentacles to shoot. Drop down when the flower's journey ends. Jump across the platforms to avoid falling into the lava. Break the cage that is hanging off of the platform jutting out of the wall and then use that platform to reach another ledge. There will be a golden triangle glowing and sticking out of the wall. Shoot this to make a platform come out. Jump on that platform and continue forward to reach the next area. There will be a rotating platform in the middle as well as one jutting out of the nearby wall. Use that one to reach the rotating platform with the lava waterfall and the flames. Wait for the platform to stop the lava waterfall and head under it. Climb the fencing to reach another platform. Hover over to the platform that stopped the lava before and ride it until you can jump up to new areas. Destroy the cage that you see here and then shoot the triangle. Go through the door that opens up. Keep going through here, shoot the tentacle that pops out of the floor and then shoot the triangle on the wall. You'll have to hit it a couple of times to make the door open wide enough to get through. Wait for the wall to push all the way out before you jump down to the next platform. Turn around and walk backwards as you shoot to destroy the cage that is hanging down. Then quickly jump to the platform sticking out of the lava and use that to reach the next ledge to walk on. Once again, wait for the walls to start retracting before you run by them. Jump across the platforms to avoid the lava and head to the next room. Buckle up, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. Jump across to the purple ring and use it to swing around to the other purple rings in this area to nab some Lums. When you are satisfied, jump on the bridge and head into the tunnel. Climb the netting and be greeted by a crazy generator room. Jump to the rotating platform. Avoid the red laser beams and shoot the switches that surround you on all sides. This will get rid of the electricity in the center of the rotating platform and allow you to drop down. Do so and head down the pipe. Continue along the path. A robot pirate will jump out of the ground so take care of him. Continue forward and then do battle with another robot pirate. Jump across the water and onto the platforms. Climb up and grab the golden gloves and then hover across to the other platforms. Head into the next room and fight another robot pirate guard. After this one is destroyed yet ANOTHER robot pirate guard will reveal himself. Destroy him as well and then scale the tower of boxes. Hover off the bridge at the top and destroy the cage that is hanging on the bottom. Climb back up the tower and then jump off the bridge and hover over to the platform with a switch. Shoot the switch to open the adjacent door and head into the door. As you walk along, another pirate guard will show up. Dispose of him and then climb up the netting. In this area, hover down to the platforms and take care of the robot pirate that is hanging on the ledge. Destroy the cage that is under him as well. Then continue to hover down this big waterfall. Go platform to platform as you hover. Try to start hovering at the top of your jump to maximize the distance. You'll see a hot air balloon floating in the distance, and that's your chance to hover across and land in the basket. It's very possible to miss the basket. Just try to aim for the middle of the basket to avoid clipping the edges and falling to your doom. I recommend having the 3D slider turned up all the way for this gorgeous site. Now for the crappy part ... Once Rayman lands, ignore the giant robot and head to the box that's on the ground. The robot will stomp, making the box go in the air, and allowing Rayman to head into the hole and to the next section. The robot pirate guard in here is of the blue-striped variety and he will just keep trying to charge you and flatten you. Dodge his advances and head up the stairs. Destroy the cage up here and then shoot the nearby door to release some of Globox's kids. Jump on the next box you see. It will bounce up, and allow you to slide down and take control of another helpless rocket horse! Ride the rocket horse. Run around the platforms to nab some Lums, but follow the arrows to make actual progress in the game. This part is extraordinarily annoying. The rocket is very easily crashed, but use it to run on the switches that are hanging off the wall in the next area to open the door. Ride the rocket out of the door and you'll be back at the start of the game. Veer to the left to see a bridge with a giant gap separating it from the next area. Ride the rocket off the bridge and jump off at the right moment to hover over to the next area. Great, plums. Why'd it have to be plums? Jump on the box that's floating in the water and catch the plum. Chuck the plum on the ground where you came from and then jump on it. Use the plum to reach a group of Lums. When you're done Lum-hunting, use the purple ring to swing across the water. There are more Lums hanging out on a pipe over here so be sure to grab them. After you nab these Lums, hover across the the platforms that are hanging out of the cliffside and such. Hover down to the bridges and follow them until you meet the appropriately named Uglette. She'll tell you that Globox has pulled a Princess Peach, and her kids have been recaptured by the pirates as well. Rayman does the rational thing. He steals a pirate ship! Pilot the ship next to the cave that you see. A bunch of Globox's kids will rush out and get on the ship. Use the ship's cannons to blast any obstacles in your path as you head left. Take another left and follow the water. Stop at the next cave you see and pick up more of the kids. Damn, these dudes got busy. Anyway, keep following the river straight to the North Mine, destroying any obstacles that get in your way and pick up the rest of the kids. Turn around and follow the river down to the path that you didn't go before. Keep destroying any obstacles and stop at the East Mine to pick up even more of Globox's kids. Return to Uglette with the pirate ship full of her children. One of the kids will conveniently cough up the fourth mask. Rayman will then take the mask...with all four masks, it's time to take the fight straight to that dastardly Razorbeard! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - T. The Prison Ship - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * * * * * Lums: 94 Cages: 0 * * * * * Head down the slide. Jump over the lava pits as they come. Keep following the winding slide until you reach the next area. Shoot the switch to get rid of the laser grid and keep zooming through. Shoot the next switch you see to lower a ramp next to the grinders. Ride up that ramp and shoot the switch at the top to lower another ramp to help. Zoom out of here, shoot the next switch, ride the next ramp, and then do the same when you see the next switch. Drop through the hole. Well, that was a blast and a half, wasn't it? You'll know be in a large room. Hover down to the metal platform with a golden glove. Then do battle with the robot pirate guard that will try to kill you. Defeat him. Climb back up to where you start. A rocket will pop out of a teleporter or whatever the hell it is. Hop on its back and fly it through to the next room. This part is very difficult. Just be sure to avoid all the obstacles and collect the Lums as fully as possible. You'll eventually reach an area where lasers will shoot at you as well, so be sure to dodge them. Keep going until you reach the next area. * * * * * * * * * * BOSS FIGHT!!! Razorbeard - Stage 1 * * * * * * * * * * Final boss time! This guy will shoot a bunch of cannonballs at you. Basically, you just need to dodge them and then fire back at the cannonballs to make them hit Razorbeard. When he shoots laser beams, avoid these at all costs. He'll also run at you and try to squash you with a butt ounce. Dodge this as well and then return to firing cannonballs back at him. When you do this enough, he'll collapse and the floor will break through. Unfortunately, Rayman falls in the hole as well.. * * * * * * * * * * BOSS FIGHT!!! Razorbeard - Stage 1 * * * * * * * * * * Uh-oh...Luckily for Rayman, he gets saved at the last second. Unfortunately for Rayman, he has to pilot another rocket. * * * * * * * * * * BOSS FIGHT!!! Razorbeard - Stage 2 * * * * * * * * * * Razorbeard will be using his big robotic claws to hang on the sides of pillars. You need to fly into the little crevices and grab a power-up on the rocket. This power-up allows Rayman to fire at Razorbeard repeatedly. Keep blasting him with the power-up. If you run out, just keep flying through the tunnels in this area, grabbing more power-ups. Don't waste your time shooting at him when he's in the lava. It does no damage and just drains the power-up. While you are doing this, be weary of his laser beam attacks. Also, be cautious to the fact that if you fall into the lava, you're dead and you have to repeat this entire boss battle over, which can be quite a pain. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 4.
