Introduction and Things to Remember - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SAVE IN A DIFFERENT SLOT EACH TIME! There is a point in the game where you can not return to the planet Hillys, the place that you are required to be at in order to unlock many of the achievements in the game. If you progress too far in the storyline, it renders the possibility of unlocking these achievements impossible, unless you start a new game, or SAVE IN MULTIPLE SLOTS each time that you save for the sake of convenience later on. Also, save as much as possible as the game did glitch on me once or twice. REMEMBER: Press select to bring up your map, and use up or down directional button on the d-pad to bring up the inventory. Use the left and right directions on the d-pad to switch between keycards, healing items, and other common items. Use CTRL+F to find achievements quickly. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A. Beyond Good and Evil (40G) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Description: Complete the game Strategy: Just play through the game's storyline! This achievement should be the last one that you collect. If you get stuck going through the storyline, there are various walkthroughs available on GameFAQs. Even though they may say that they are for the GameCube, Xbox, or PlayStation 2 versions of the game, they are compatible with the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network versions of this game as well. Some basic tips I would provide would be to buy as much health at any vending areas as possible, and purchase the pearl and animal detectors at the Pedestrian District. And of course, SAVE, SAVE, SAVE, SAVE--in different slots! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - B. Big Heart (15G) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Description: Get 10 hearts for Jade's HP Strategy: This is simple. There's really no way that you won't eventually get enough heart tanks throughout the course of the game to unlock this achievement. Essentially, just play the damn game and you'll find enough heart tanks to unlock this achievement. Check vending machines as much as possible. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - C. Bounty Hunter (20G) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Description: Chase down all 4 looters. Strategy: At four different locations in the ocean of Hillys, there are islands with openings that lead to "looter" races. They are easy to find on the map if you have the pearl detector, as they are marked on the different islands by a single pearl. However, even if you don't have the pearl detector, it's easy to find these areas just by driving the hovercraft around. Regardless, I don't recommend attempting these looter missions until the hovercraft has all of its upgrades. You'll know you'll have all of the upgrades when you can start flying around with the thing. At this point, do a bit of searching, drive into any open areas you find, and begin the looter races! These segments can become a bit annoying, but all they require is a bit of memorization, luck, and skill. You'll know you're in the right place if you drive into the cave a little bit, and a hovercar with a siren comes out of a hole, steals your money, and rides away. Obviously, you need to chase this. Avoid obstacles. During these speedy segments, doors drop with numbers on them, counting down from five. While using boosters aren't necessary to complete these segments, they will help. As long as you don't bump into anything and don't lose any speed taking corners, it is completely possible to beat these guys without using boosters. However, if any mistakes are made, you can just press B and boost your way through the doors to avoid losing. If you do lose, then you'll have to fork over more credits (the currency in the game) in order to retry this looter section. Bobbing around in the ocean right outside the caves where these looter segments take place are crates that can be destroyed for boosters and credits. There are also boxes inside of the caves that contain boosters as well, but destroying them can can be distracting. To destroy the crates, all you need to do is hold X to lock on to the boxes and destroy them. After you've zoomed through all the doors, you'll end up in a wide area. The looter will then start driving around in a circle. Hold the X button to lock on to the looter hovercar, and then destroy them. Collect the pearl, and you'll be transported to the outside of the cave. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - D. Data Manager (15G) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Description: Collect 11 Mdisks Strategy: This is also an achievement that you'll get inevitably by the end of the game. Mdisks are CDs that are used at stations littered throughout the game world to access information and save the game (SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!!!). There are actually more than 11 Mdisks in the game, so you don't even have to worry about collecting them all. Good luck...you won't need it. There are 14 Mdisks. You only need 11. BUT! I will provide a checklist - just in case! Gamble King 1 (5G) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Description: Win 3 times in the coconut shell game against Peepers Strategy: On the second floor of the Akuda Bar, an area that you MUST visit during the course of the game that is located in the Pedestrian District, there will be a man you have to interact with named Peepers. He helps you meet the IRIS Network and what-not. Well, he also likes to play a coconut shell game with you! This coconut shell game is the basic "hide something under a cup, shift around identical cups, pick the correct cup with the item under it" thing. Well, all you have to do is choose the correct coconut shell three times to earn this achievement. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - F. Gamble King 2 (15G) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Description: Win 3 times in the pellet game against Francis Strategy: This is a bit more difficult. Francis is located in the Akuda Bar, on the bottom floor. Francis likes playing a variation of air hockey. All you have to do is beat him three times, just like with Peepers, but it's a bit trickier. The first time that you beat Francis, he will reward you with a pearl. You can't face him again right off the bat, but later he will send you a message offering to face you in a rematch. You can then face him a third time right after the second time. Anyway, the rules of the game are simple enough. There are a certain amount of pucks on either side of the table. The goal is to get all the pucks on the opponent's side of the table. Just keep flinging pucks at Francis's side of the table. This mini-game requires a ton of luck, and it's quite difficult, especially during the second and third time around. It also requires a hefty credit bet in order to play, so be aware of that. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - G. Hovercraft (5G) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Description: Power up the hovercraft Strategy: At the beginning of the game, the storyline requires you to power up the hovercraft. Basically, just play through the game and this achievement will fall in your lap. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - H. Kicking *** (15G) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Description: Kill 10 Alpha Section guards Strategy: I don't know what Ubisoft has against the word "ass", but oh well! This is another easy achievement, that you'll PROBABLY get during the course of the game without a whole lot of trouble, but if you stick purely to the stealthy approach, this achievement will slip by your radar. There are many times in the game where you'll have to deal with Alpha Section guards. These guys are decked out in black armor, and walk around with big ass (baha!) green tanks strapped to their backs. The game provides the tools to slip by these guys for the vast majority of the game. However, confrontation is required in order for you to unlock this achievement. When you do happen to do battle with these guys, the key is to tap A to try to roll behind them, and then mash on the X button to swing like crazy at their thanks. If Pey'j or H is with you, you can tap the Y button to encourage them to do battle as well. It takes a couple of hits, but they aren't too hard to destroy. Also, be aware that there are some areas in the game where taking the stealth approach is REQUIRED in order to get past the section. Battling the Alpha Section guards isn't always an option. Sometimes there will be laser-powered turrets in the vicinity that will off Jade with a single blast if she is discovered by the guards. So, battle the guards when possible until this achievement unlocks! I got it fairly early in the game, in one of the first so-called "dungeons" (so-called because I so-call them that). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I. I like how the game doesn't require collecting ALL of the pearls, since there are missable collectables in this game. But remember to save CONSTANTLY, and only to travel to the moon once you have this achievement! I will provide a link for the GameFAQs guide written by dhamon that explains in detail how to collect all of the different pearls. Here it is: http://www.gamefaqs.com/xbox360/609596-beyond-good-and-evil-hd/faqs/27283 And now I will provide a checklist for all the pearls so you can check them off as you collect them! Project Apollo (10G) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Description: Pilot the spaceship to the moon Strategy: Another story-based achievement. Once the hovercraft has the ability to fly into space, just fly to the moon! You need to go here to beat the game anyway, so this is unavoidable. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - K. Racing Champion (20G) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Description: Score 1st in al 4 hovercraft races Strategy: There are four different races in the game. They are separated out into pairs. The first two races are found in the "RACES" section of the city. Just use the hovercraft's compass to locate them. The second set of races are located at the slaughterhouse, which is an area that will be accessed as part of the story, and you need to access a secret area in the third race in order to further the plot along. Regardless, the races are easy enough. Just reach the end before your oppponents. Using boosts isn't necessary, especially if you hit the built-in boosting pads on the tracks, but they can help if you lag behind. Keep at top speed the entire time, cut corners, and there won't be a huge problem. It may take a bit of practice, but completing these races isn't too much of a headache. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - L. Just take a picture of every new animal that you see, including the human species, and you won't be in too bad of shape. Also, be sure to take pictures of bosses as they count as animals as well!
