Which media type works with trainers? on Plants vs. Zombies PC Message Board - Page 1

I am trying to figure out which media type (Retail disc ver., Steam ver., or PopCap download ver.) I

I am trying to figure out which media type (Retail disc ver., Steam ver., or PopCap download ver.) I should get so that one of the trainers on this site will work with it correctly. The PopCap ver. is a higher ver. # than the trainer version #s. I also thought that I read that the Steam ver. has been updated after the latest trainer was released. I already downloaded the game from GameStop, but that ver. isn't compatible with any of the trainers. Also, unfortunately, I accidentally overwrote my completed save file and now have to unlock everything all over again. I think that the retail ver. might be the best choice, but I do not know if the original unpatched retail ver. will work and I do not know if the game will try and update itself to the newest version. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend the PopCap or Steam version at this point.
