Origins didn't really start with your home being destroyed (well depending on your character choice it may have... human noble i think, i cant remember) it started with you having something catastrophic happen and basically being forced to serve as a Grey Warden, the world didn't really change much (apart from the darkspawn flattening towns) And the PC never rose to any sort of power, Sure Alistair became King but that's it.
Plus in game time it spans 12 years, It's actually more like Fable 3 than the original Origins. XD

Dragon Age was pretty Epic, but I'm sure this is gonna be just like Mass Effect 2, waaaay better than the first.
