I purchased the game through Direct2Drive site will the Steam trainer work on this version?

I tried both the Steam version and the Retail version of the trainers. They say "Trainer Activated" at the title screen and when the mapped buttons are pressed you hear "Activated" or "On" but none of the effects actually happen.

Make sure you have the correct version number for your version of the game.
