This may be hard, or it will be easy to answer.

Here is the question: Why do you play games? is it a sence of escape or just for entertainment.

My reason (Warning is a bit deep)

I play games to escape this life i live. Games allow me to be who I am not what I am. They help me be who I want to be and help me escape from teh horrors of this life I live. Doc's say take depression medicine, well gaming is my meds.

People in life judge me by the way I look, they way I act. In games, there is no judgment, we are all equal. In games I am accepted, in life I am rejected.

"I play to live, live to play."
    "Gaming is a life style"

Now Im not saying I live to just play games and i play them 24/7. Some people drink (alcohal) to rid their pain and to run from their feelings, me? When Im down I hop onling and visit my games to forget.

Gaming does not have control over me, I have control over the gaming.

Is gaming my curse or attribute you ask?

It is my gift. Gaming is not a right but a gift that many of us take for granted. I game to help others in their game get through it and help them out when they need it. Don't beleive me? go on www.dark-warriors.net , www.starwake.net , ask them about me. They will prove. In those games I suck, I am super week and super poor, the reason? I give all my stuff away to help others.

now does Gameing fuel a need to want to be needed I am unsure. I know I need gaming but its not an addiction, and there is no cure. My mind is full of Ideas I can not reach, that I can not find. Gaming helps me find them and live them ( In a way).

Now if you've read this your probably thinking, wow, this guy needs a life. Well Im here to tell you I have one and its worth living. I am trying to figure out what UI am gonna do to the gaming World but when I do you will then say " I can not beleive its the same person".

People say that games are a waste of time, but I sayy they help more than they think. Honestly before I played I could barely remember anything and acted like a fool. But now, I own a clan and I am a Moderator on a game and am well respected. People say I am just wasting time, yet why is it that now , after I started playing games, I have risin my IQ from a 105 to a 140, I remember stuff like never before, my mind is open to new ideas, and I am having thoughts (Good ones) like never before.

Plus who says all games waste your time. Games Like farmville on facebook do, but what about those ones we play that help us learn how to lead people, how to taech, how to listen, and how to respect authority. I will be honest. Before gaming I knew none of these. When some one on a game mouhted of to me you might as well hit the ban button becasue I was sure to get beck at em. Now? on games and in real life, If you get mad I laugh at you and say,"Wow, you actually made me mad", then after that I loose the interest to be mad and forget about it and carry on.

I will stop now that I see I have wrote over 3k words of my beleifs on gaming. But, if 300 words is what it takes to let people see the way I do about gaming, then 3000 words is not enough.

Please answer the question I asked at top

I play for basically the same reasons sometimes, to get away. but I have some other factors if I'm playing with surround-sound it gets my heart beating which makes me feel good. sometimes I'll quite playing for a week or two and those are the weeks were I feel like blah and everything is so slow and stuff.

I agree with the memory thing too, It's been like that ever since I was a wee'lil'gamer.

It's also a good way to bond with other people, and for me is easier then talking sometimes, just toss'em the remote and watch how they play, I like psychology!! and use that when people play certain games(puzzle,etc...the ones that make you think)it helps me to get to know people better.
but who are you kidding? ay who are you lying to? you know if they want you
best believe they will find you...

The psychology part of it is great as well, I didnt have enough room to go that far but seeing how people think and play is another great thing about gamin.

I started because it was just fun to do something I can never do in real life. Driving a Lamborghini at 200mph, ramming through traffic shooting people and tossing grenades around, controlling armies, drifting, fighting in a war. All the fun with no risk.

As for simple games like Minesweeper Flags or Crazy Taxi, I just like to compete with friends.

I play because i enjoy it. I play because it passes time. I play because there is nothing else to do better than it.

It's been a long time coming.

There's no such thing as a "true gamer". A gamer is just a person who plays video games, and saying you're a "gamer" just makes you seem silly.

    Paradox speaks the truth.

I've played games since before most people on this forum were born. I've seen them go from text to HD-quality video. I've seen it go from something kids had to hide in the basement to do to something that you have to hide in the basement if you don't do--it's a figure of speech, don't over analyze it.

There's no such thing as a "true gamer". Never has been, never will be.

It's like saying you're a "true reader" or a "true eater". Really? You mean if you don't read or eat just so then you're not really doing it?
In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'
