Because the official retail date was the 14th.

That obviously doesnt mean all manufacturer's will release on the same day though.

EVGA started selling on the 7th. Amazon and Newegg started selling other brands on the 12th. Everyone was completely out of stock two days later.

However, I am emboldened by the fact that stock is slowly trickling into certain etailers. Extreme PC has some ASUS 480s in stock (Link), but they're charging $50 a piece more than an Amazon preorder. Not to mention they're in Canada and there's no free shipping.

Remember 1 US $ is not 1 Can $

$549 canadian is approx £354.93... which is pretty cheap for some reason.

Cheap for the UK, perhaps. I heard another rumor that nVidia won't be sending cards to retailers in the UK until July.

I preordered my cards on the 8th this month, and Amazon told me it'll take 7 weeks to get them to me here in LA.

Thats not true I got my 3 480's yesterday.

Cost me £450 a piece though, makes me cry that I could have imported 3 from Canada with a saving of over £250. Damn.
