Shuffle! Was not all that great to me. Welcome to the NHK has an underlying love interest though it isn't the main focus of it. It's a dark anime (though not dark in the sense of Vampires or Gothic style or ect).

I rarely read manga. I prefer to see those characters in action because on manga you can only imagine what they are doing on just a piece of paper, despite all the somewhat over-rated words.

Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni is the first anime that comes to mind for being dark.

I need to start watching Ouran High School Host Club. ;;
I'm currently watching Bleach, and an obscure little kid's anime originally from the sixties called Ge Ge Ge No Kitaro. The main character looks like my best friend. <3
