Enabling Trainer crashes game
TallDoode posted on Mar 15, 2010 4:56:00 PM - Report post
Just purchased the ME2 Trainer. When I load the game, then hit F1 it says "Trainer Activated" but immediately I get a "Mass Effect 2 has stopped working" and it dies.
I have tried:
Running in Windows XP SP3 compat mode
Running both game and trainer as administrator
Running game first, then trainer
Getting into the game, (not at Menu screen) and pressing F1
All these still crash the game.
Windows 7 Pro in 64bit mode.
Anyone have any ideas? Seems most of the problems people are having are that the Trainer does nothing. I cant find any posts that show the game crashes when the trainer activates.

You version doesn't match or something is interfering.

Ya, thanks. Have read the Troubleshooting FAQ. It is a digital download version I purchased directly from EA. I will try a No CD patch and see if that helps.
EDIT: Heads up - if you download the game instead of buying it, you will need the no DVD fix to make the Trainer work. Once I used the gameburn executable, the Trainer worked fine.

thats because the EA download is NOT the retail version....or the steam/direct2drive version....and those are the only versions supported

I have to agree I purchased the game through Amazon Direct download and the only way I could keep the game from not crashing when I enabled the trainer was to use a No cd patch, works fine now.
