This game is simply poorly coded. Thats about it.

Didn't expect anything else from those developers.
Will give it a try though.

Holy crap...I was a bit skeptical, but I'm running a 5870..and ho-ly crap...this is the first game I've seen that surpasses Crysis...amazing if you think about how old Crysis is now...

Metro 2033's visuals look solid..no doubt about that...but Crysis..now thats a beautiful game. anyone remember Far Cry 1..that game had gorgeous visuals too.

Yer i remember Far Cry 1, the water effects in it were boss..lol..was released in 2004 and i can still remember the first time i played it.

Im only on the 3rd stage. I am really reminded of half life 2, except with way worse dialog. The voice acting is eh. The graphics are ok.

But yeah, pretty sure its based one the Half Life 2/3 Engine, or source engine, whichever you want to call it.

good solid game, very good atmosphere and effects but way to linear for my taste,

    to the posting before :

Half Life 2/3 engine ?! what are you dreaming of ? the fact that Metro2033 comes with Steam has nothing to do with Valve the Developer itself.

The Engine the game use is called 4a Engine and that is a enhancement of the X-Ray Engine that was used for the Stalker Series.

This game has accomplished one of the biggest nono in gaming. Never EVER create a graphics menu where you can't change each individual option. This game lags all to hell, but it won't let me change two individual graphics options which I know will make the lag go away without changing the quality of everything else.

I really wish developers would learn...

    agreed, that pretty much sucks

goddamn it, i gotta run it on "low" to have decent fps. It's the stupid light/shadow and smoke volume fiesta. did anyone find out where the config is stored to set it up manually?

ok I found it it's in

    User Name\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033 (xp)

    I must disagree...

im running everything max in game, HD5870, i7-940@3.66ghz, 6GbRAM

it looks the same visually as battle field bad company 2 single player, maybe a teeny bit better. Tessellation off looks the same as Tessellation on in Metro2033... I tested both in combat, out of combat, everywhere... and if theres a difference its not much... only thing ive seen different when turning on and off is a 30 fps difference lol.
