I tried the dm_givegold command and it will not give me any gold.

dm_givegold 10000

What am I doing wrong?

what message does it give you?
whats the version of the game?

After I enter the amount of gold I want, it just says "dm_givegold" with no error message or anything. I have version 1.023(1765). It acts like it accepts the command but does not give any gold to my character.

you probably didnt select your character.right click on your character to select it and then use the console.

That was it. I just needed to righ-click on my guy. Thanks for the help.

You forgot to Right click you Charactor first and then DebugMode 1 and then dm_givegold 10000

lol i hate when that happens i did that alot with bulders gate 1 and 2 kinda got a lil upset with my self
