    I'm too busy trying to hold on to my English-ness to pretend to be American.

    You have just proven a point, and for that, I am grateful.

    @Nic: See?

    You think we are so sophisticated that you requested I say "beer can".

    The British are no more sophisticated than anyone else, if you saw the town I spent most of my teen years in...

    As for making American accents, I don't. If I spend enough hours on mic with an American I do pick up a slight accent but it's barely noticable and I do find Americans fawn over my accent.

    Uh... The answer to that (at least in my case and just about everyone i know) is a flat NO, we don't. Most of us think Americans are stupid ****s who should be shot on sight. America is nothing but an errant colony, and should be brought to heel.

    No one is perfect....but it seems some Birtish think so....it seems you are one of them...I tire of hearing people online that are British go on about how american players are "rubbish"....I have nothing against Brits and think their gov't probably runs better but some of them need to get their heads out of their a**es.

    The servant often is resentful of its master. Britain is a mere satellite state belonging to the US. We wave the bone and you salivate and wag your tail.

    When Orwell wrote of Britain as being "Airstrip One", he wasn't just pointing out its only importance in the second World War, but also its only useful role in the world going forward; as put into inevitability by Churchill.

    To be fair that's true to an extent or least after Tony Blair came into Power and started kissing American ass and I'm not sure what Exigaen is on, I guess that statement would be more valid a hundred years ago.

    I'll hazard a guess and say no, most English people do not "sit around and pretend to be American". I know I don't. And my parents don't. Neither do any of my English relations. None of my English friends do.

    However, I do know quite a few Americans who sit around and pretend to be English, for reasons that quite escape me.

    Also, when you say the English are "more sophisticated" than Americans, you're keeping your focus on a very small group of people, rather than the English population as a whole. England has its social outcasts, its misfits, and its knuckle-dragging ape-descendants, just like every other society. It's likely that you'll find someone in there who pretends to be American.

    And while the English government might be "efficient", it also has no concept of how the real world works.

    The beer can thing was for an experiment. Which kinda failed. But you know that already.

    Anyway. On that line, NO ONE is any more sophisticated/better/etc. than anyone else. Why? (stop me if you've heard this line before) People are ****. I'm ****, you're ****, the world is ****, and if you're sitting there thinking, "Yes it's true, everyone is **** except me", then you're a double bacon **** with large fries.

    @DR: What exactly IS the topic?

    I think us Americans in general are fascinated by the way your vocals come out of your throat (correct me if this makes no sense) because as for us we sound kind of monotone I think and English sound a little less because of their accent. Basically what I'm trying to say if we are fascinated by what is not ours.
