Uhm perhaps because there is a config editing tool that can pretty much do everything you do in a console you only lose in-game console commands. The editor can cheat for you if you want it to .. badly.

Or perhaps it's simply that very few people care about a console these days since key binds and settings are handled by the game quite sufficiently.

If you are satisfied playing without able to cheat, is't good for you. This isn't all about cheating, but they, with removing access to the console, tells me that I can't do what I want with my own game. That, is what me off. And since I already is writing. You can't install the game more than 3 time on your computer. Yes I have read their explanation. Is't really possible to be a bigger

You can actually do more with ME2 by editing the Coalesced.ini file than you could do with the console in ME1. People are finding out new things to do with it all the time; just check the modding topic on the BioWare forum.

I didn't know about the install limit, but then again, I haven't had a need to find out... I can't really see any reason for installing and uninstalling the game three different times.

Most games these days come with an install limit... it sucks, but DRM will only get worse before it gets better (better being when SecuROM goes out of business).

I guess this is one of those days where everything goes wrong.

What I protest is that 3 and out installation limit. That hit me with Spore and when I talked to EA, they set me up with more installs. I had a hard drive crash and reinstalling it after that was my 2nd. Then I bought a new machine and that was my 3rd time. Upgraded the HDD and I hit the limit. I heard they were being taken to court over that but I can't verify it. If I buy a game, I should be able to install it as many times as I want as long as it is only installed one machine at a time. I like what Sacred 2 does: you have to deactivate the serial number before uninstalling it and then you can reinstall it whenever you want. Stop punishing the people who actually buy the games because of the pirates.

The three-install limit was with the securom protection on ME1, and that was removed with a patch. Mass Effect 2 uses a simple serial key for copy-protection, which has no such limits.

In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'

Haha, chin up and try, try again! Everyone has their bad days.

I forgot that it's only the Steam version which has an install limit, which is 5 (seems to be a common protection on Steam).
