There is no reason for this topic except for me to go all out on this. I have been playing a couple of FPS game in multiplayer and specially Modern Warfare 2 lately and noticed that the IQ level to play this game is very low. Let me explain, I have NOT ONCE joined a game without someone calling people names, talking about their mothers in diminishing ways and and what not. Yesterday I joined a couple of games and the new ongoing insult was my country is better than yours at the Olympics... Each time I play I have to downgrade my intellect to be able to support these moronic acts and it takes away the fun of multiplayer games. Last night I told someone to calm down a bit and be respectfull, the only thing I got for that is him starting to insult me so badly he sounded like he had Down's syndrome.

So in conclusion, when was the point when playing muliplayer games made people regress mentally?

Play something that takes a modicum of sanity and brains to play, on a server that has rules regarding etiquette. This is assuming you play on a PC, that is.

Playing an FPS like Halo or CoD online is a bad idea. Why? You end up playing with the ignorant dog-****ers that make up the majority of the "popular FPS" fanbase.

The average IQ level of the average online gamer dropped dramatically with the introduction of automatic matchmaking.

That's also about when I stopped playing games online, because of the sheer number of retards.

Unless im playing with friends, i don't bother with my mic. It's funny to hear other people argue however, not worth chipping into though.

Thats exactly what I do, only have the mic on if i'm with friends, but then were usually in private chat. And just listen and laugh to the morons insult themselves.

Most common XBL insults i've noticed are Your momma jokes, the ever common "suck my ****" and "your a ***got"

And their stupidity doesn't stop at the pre game lobby either, if you play while actually thinking and not just running and gunning it's quite an easy game to out wit them (for the most part you occasionly get a smart player).

If I play ANYTHING multiplayer, it's either with people I trust, or people I'm in the same room with. Throwing a magazine at someone swearing like he's 12 is more fun than the actual game.

I usually play with my clan but often when people see my clan tag which has Qc (Quebec) at the end, they start insulting us for no reason like calling us frogs (insult to french people) and saying that french is a retarded culture and what ever. This happens when you don't even talk to people.

As an online FPS player I can say that from my point of view and personal experience that its always the ones that don't know how to play properly and/or are less than 15 years old of age that start the insulting.

A person with the age referred above can become easily frustrated and annoyed, that added to the first "cause" I wrote above can make one argue everything everytime they get killed, feel like yelling at their mothers and killing random cats they see.

Of course this is just MY opinion. (and I didn't play Halo much, so I'm only using Call of Duty as my topic)

All in all, online FPS are getting tedious from all the flaming and trolling.
