Company of Heroes Message Board  

After doing a lot of searching for a solution in every other corner of the web, only to come up with dead-ends and unanswered cries for help, I decided to try a forum post here. This is a bit of a long story, but bare with me.

My problem is that my current version of CoH is still 2.300, and Steam hasn't done any auto-updates of CoH. So, I manually downloaded the 2.601 patch and tried to run it. I got an error saying, "A complete and valid installation of Company of Heroes could not be found. Please reinstall Company of Heroes and try again. (Error Code 10242)". I finally found a solution to this error by downloading a registry editor file. So, I tried to run the patch again, this time running into and error saying that because I had version 2.300, I couldn't patch to version 2.601. So, I donwloaded all the patches back to 2.301 and tried to run them. This time I got the same error as Error Code 10242, but now the code is 10262.

I don't want to reinstall CoH, Tales of Valor and Opposing Fronts. So, is there another registry editor file that can help, or is there any other fix?

As mentioned before, I got CoH over Steam, if that changes the problem. Thanks in advance for any help!

As it turns out, the current version of CoH I'm running is 2.601, but there was some conflict in the information the patching clients and the game itself were giving me. Sorry.
