Anyone who know's me will know that I like to experience every mission/quest and ejoy everything the game has to offer. And when I get to Anno 1404 I thought here was a game I could enjoy and true enough I enjoyed it the first time through without cheats and the second time through with the Cheathappens trainer. Now I've moved onto modding for my third and final trip through the game only this time it wasn't so pleasant bypassing the many hours it tooke me to crack into their files which compared to other Anno games was a nightmare. Apparently the Developers don't like moders or at least gamers who want to get the most from their game. Because when I started playing a message in the bottom right said that all achivements were locked out of the game due to modding detected... And sure enough when I went through the game all the achievments were locked. It seems in order to make the game more fun one way you have to lose the fun derived from else where.

In cidently I'm not through yet I'd like to think that I'm not the first person to try and mod the games data files and so as anyone found a way to disable the modding dettected detection so that the game can be played with both mods and achivements activated?

I've been tempted to get the new addon for anno 1404 but if this is how little the developers care about the gaming experiences of it's gamer's then why should I buy games from such people. Ultimatelty if I find a way to use mods and get achivements I'll be happy man and all will be forgiven but until then ubisoft won't get anymore money out of me for an Anno game.

    Same problem here.
I have been away from 1404 for a while due to some issues with the game and some of the last catalyst drivers ati offered, not the problem is fixed and that crappy "mod detection" has occurred in one of the last patches.

As I am only "modding / rebalancing" in single player I do not get the point why to hell the game needs such a protection.

The multiplayer part offered now as well as the online profile seem to completely ignore the "PreferLocalFiles" option, so why do they care at all ?

I would greatly appreciate any idea on how to bypass this to have both options as Xientie said: modding and chasing achievements.

Surely you can understand that modding the game in any way makes any point system a pointless excercise ?

The whole point of scoring is people start from the same goalposts hey personally I don't give a flying fudge about achievments and would still mod in a second but for those who give a damn that sounds like a good feature.

This game is both addictive and fun AND decent looking in a world of fifa clones and other rubbish. The only reason I can think of to want both the modding AND the score system is to somehow hack the game and then pretend you succeeded without it. Having failed at that you have come here to insult the game. Real mature.
