i tried my guy to be a player but it ended up him only getting tali for some reason everyone else seems to know that you did it with someone else and they reject you although doing it with tali was my original hope for ME1

Tali must simply be the first who you talked enough to romance her. You still could have had the others - if you first broke up with Tali (But she probably wouldn't have forgiven you (Jacob was mad at me when i broke up to get Garrus ))

As for me, i didn't import a ME1 savegame, so no cheating ^^ I'm replaying ME1 at the moment 'cause i want to see the effects of ME1 choices (I want Anderson in the damn council!!!)

You can talk to a crew mate and compliment them to get on their good sides, but the actual romance option doesn't come up until the first or second conversation after their loyalty quest has been completed.

I was romancing Tali - got to the last conversation before the big-lack-of-reveal - but when I went to talk to Miranda she still came onto me (not intentionally... it's kind of annoying that just being nice always leads to a romance).

If an imported Shepard has a love interest from the original Mass Effect, then that relationship will continue into Mass Effect 2, even though the love interest will be unable to join Shepard's squad. However, it is possible for Shepard to be unfaithful and pursue a relationship with one of Mass Effect 2's potential love interests. Acting unfaithfully is expected to have negative consequences for the relationship in Mass Effect 3, provided this Shepard survives the events of Mass Effect 2. Additionally, in Shepard's Cabin, a picture of his or her love interest from the original Mass Effect is visible. If Shepard pursues a new love interest, the picture is turned face down on the desk. There are no actual romance plots with the original ME1 love interests, but should Shepard stay loyal to his or her original Love interest, they briefly exchange a kiss when reunited and a small cutscene enroute to the final mission takes place in which Shepard stands over and stares deeply at the photo, smiling.

I stayed faithful to Liara, simply because there's no good options for female shepards in ME2.

To a male Shepherd the choices were very nice. Miranda was bio-engineered to be perfect, Tali is sweet and whatever hides behind her suit is surely worth it, if not Bioware will have a full fledged revolution on their hands. Jack was... well weird. I don't dig bald chicks with tattoos. My romance in ME1 was Liara, but when I saw what she had become I kinda felt sad and felt like I had to move on. So I picked Tali. Miranda was drop dead gorgeous, but I still chose Tali for her personality (a guy choosing a girl for her personality, really what planet am I from? )

My Shepherd's a Paragon of untold power, mercy and benevolence. Of course any jack*** that wants a piece of me can talk to the gun, cuz the face ain't listenin.

I just wanted to see what would happen when I stayed true to either Ashley or Liara and to my surprise I got Kelly to be my own lil dancer in my cabin when I feel like relaxing. Guess having another girl dance exotically for you isn't really considered cheating.
