I'm not "maybe" right, I'm 100% right. Just checked:
In "Afterlife" (club on Omega) I forced batarian bartender to drink his poisonous drink. Got Renegade. Reloaded previous QuickSave to replay - theres already a salarian bartender and quest is completed. After that I have restored my backup saves (took a second) and here he is - batarian bartender again, so the workaround works.
I repeat: you will want to use this method, so keep it in mind. You don't want to get 30 Renegade point without opportunity to replay.

NO singlerose id deff right. the side missions do not alow you to quicksave.
But if it is on a mission and your killing ppl then you can restart the mission and change fate. but as singlerose said that can take alot of time.

Well, side quests do allow you to save, but the saves get updated. You can save right before finishing your quest and it'll work - if you backup. Same goes to main missions. Making the backup the way I mentioned above seems to be the only real way to pass the game properly. Unless you make all the right choices from the first playthrough, which is doubtful.

thats not so "easy"
couse the save system from ME2 works like this:
there are "special" events (events who degress or increase ur para/rene status or have a effect on the end of the game (who will die, who not) ) those missions and/or side quests have an own "automatic" quicksave so if u done those steps (complete this missions) the game will automatic do a quicksave.
just like if u done a mainquest and u'r back on the normandy the game will be automaticly do a quicksave onboard.
If u don't want this, just simple deactivate the Quick Game Save at the menu.
(sorry bout my english)

Okay... I think I'm starting to get the point. So F9 doesn't load QuickSave, but instead, it loads last save. And the game makes AutoSaves all too often. So when I screw up and press QuickLoad (F9), instead of my quickSave it loads last save, which is usually AutoSave. Bloody hell, they could have at least warn us. So it's not the QuickSave that gets updated, but AutoSave takes place of the last save. Got it, thank you.

So essentially that means you just need to manually load your "quick save" then? Is that what I'm reading from the last two posts? I think that's what you're both saying?

Eh, I haven't had much faith in quicksaves, haven't used one in years.

i've noticed the game loads with "quick-load" the last save (which is the auto-save) not the actual quick-save. you have to load that manually ... unless you have that nasty habit (developed from fps games) of abusing the F5 button
later edit: didn't read the above posts ... my bad
