Lol, my Shepard survived along with ALL her teammates. In all, saves in this game are BAD. I know they tried to make it more exciting, but its just bad:
You aren't allowed to replay anything. All the actions (not dialogues, actions) are time-limited. You only get 2-3 seconds to notice the flashing sign and press the right mouse key. If you made the wrong choice, if you didnt perform the action and ended side quest (or even main) badly - loading a previous save won't do anything. All your choices and actions affect previous saves, so if you load a previous save - that quest, choice, dialogue is done ANYWAY. You get ONE CHANCE to do things right. Or, alternatively, you can restart the entire 1-2 hour mission.
Sweet, eh?
Thats why keep my saves sake, lol. I managed to make pretty much all the choices right, and perform nearly all the actions (except for one, but it wasnt really important).
Overall, the save system is very up. You can't even replay anything to see the alternative ending. Only during second playthrough.
As for male Shepard saves... Uh... Sorry. Starting everything afresh, without even concept of the first game isn't easy. But hey, in my last save, you can go down to Crew Deck, speak with Garrus and 💛 with him. Probably Tali too, not sure. Just choose one of the two. If won't work with Tali, head to Garrus.
