It is the religion what guides a person's life. Without it, you have no goal or direction towards your future.
That is my opinion.
Interesting.
In what way does your religion navigate you through your life?

I have a similar belief to this. The only difference though, is that I'm talking about after you die.
Let me try to explain.
Whether or not I'm wrong about God an whatnot, at least I have something to live for. When I die, I am going to die knowing that something better awaits me. And if I am wrong, then it's not like I'd know it. I would eventually be forgotten and no one even know I ever existed. My mind and soul would be lost forever, and I wouldn't even know that I was just lost.
You, on the other hand, have nothing to look forward to. You are ready thinking that you'll just rot in the ground. What fun is that?
Hope is the single thing that keeps humanity driving. That is the single thing that has kept us alive and moving throughout all these past years. And you may live a wonderdul, and fruitful life, but you've still got no hope for what lies beyond you.
Why do people claim it off as "their" own beliefs when it's really just just the beliefs of your parents imposed onto at an age when you aren't old enough to have any idea how the world actually works and when you are old enough to it's too late because religion has already become synonymous with your identity and you refuse to let go.
You do realize that even if lets say Christianity had any relation to the truth when it was created you do know that modern Christianity is quite a bit different now especially after the bible was translated into English... so no matter how you look at your beliefs are wrong... sorry but I can't stand all this people saying having your head in the sand is a good thing.
Not all beliefs are imposed by parents.
Myself and NC converted to our respective faiths willingly. So we chose to believe.

Indeed.
I grew up in an exceedingly traditional Christian family.
However, my own faith is far removed from theirs.
My faith may be unorthodox and strange, and it's unprecedented as it is of my own mixture of many spiritual beliefs including many forms of polytheist views (The worship of many gods=polytheism in case you didn't know), reincarnation, and the belief that whilst our own life is fixed by the laws of the world we live in, when we pass out of this mortal coil our souls are taken across dimensional and space-time boundaries to a place where the laws of physics, nature, etc. are not only very different from our own, but also the types of flora and fauna possible within that particular dimension and world.
For example, whilst our own world does not allow for many opportunities of sentient non-humans whilst we are the dominant species, another dimension and world could allow for many different sentient species coexisting, and for my example I will use anthropomorphs, or humanoid animals if you will.
And in yet another dimension, the dominant species could advance so quickly in such a short amount of time that their civilization could have hovercars and true "cyberpunk"-styled cybernetics and technology in the same amount of time it took us to reach the iron-age of our species.
And where we go could not be entirely random, but chosen by ourselves through the actions and views we hold. While we have no memory of our previous lives, our soul retains the knowledge of our spirituality and personality.
We can also be judged by a form of "Karma" if you will, that, depending on our actions that either better or harm others, can influence where and how we are reincarnated.
For example, tyrants whom butcher innocents and such will be reincarnated as either a non-sentient, or as one of the lowest caste in a caste-based society as a form of penance.
Contrariwise, those who work for the betterment of their society and world (Such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.) are reincarnated in a position that gives their words and actions more influence than the common man.
I can go on, but you all get the picture.
My beliefs are my own, and I daresay I'm the only one who believes this way because I think I'm the first one to mix all of these views into one spirituality.
