I love how this was instantly "OMG anti-religion waaaaaaa people are hating on Christians"

I am a religious person. Well, actually I follow a faith not a religion so... I'm a faithful person? However, it does not rule me and I don't "depend on it too much".

I am a believer in logic and the power of human will. For example, if I wish for something non-material for long enough, I will get it. How does that work? Well, just saying "I want this" won't make it happen. Here's an example. Growing up, I always wanted a proper best friend. Not someone who'd use me constantly, someone who'd stick by me. A person who'd know me better than anyone else. Being without that type of person led me to become who I am, and who I am is the perfect friend for my best friend. She genuinely knows me well, she knows my mannerisms and my catch-phrases and she keeps my secrets. That's how fate works, it's not meant to be obvious. You have to work and have patience to recieve. Karma. I suppose I was "tested" by loneliness and thus I managed to grow into what I am. I imagine there'll be some skeptics, but can you truly judge the power of human will?

I believe in medicine. I believe in a healing Goddess. Medicine can heal my body, my Goddess can heal my inner injuries. When I'm low, I pray. Often silently, but I still do it. Why? Well, it's comforting. Maybe I'm talking to nothing, maybe She's there. Who can really say I'm mad or stupid for depending on Her?

I imagine someone will attack my post, I really don't care. I'm not changing my way of thinking or my beliefs any time soon

Anyways, I don't think I depend on my faith too much. Some people take their beiefs too far, some dedicate themselves to it and some use it as an excuse to do bad things. Either way, religion is important.

@HonestGamer: Not every religion means you have to pray to God. Buddhists meditate.

    This topic is rubbish.

I refuse to play gentleman's chess in a toilet.

Also, I have unfortunately found the most depressing phrase someone has posted since I can remember on CHU.

No one said anything about this being directed to Christians. Noble and I (both us are outspoken Christians) just happened to be the first to respond.

I don't want to fight. I think I have had my fair share of arguments to last me a few days.

Marx wrote "Die Religion ist der Seufzer der bedrängten Kreatur, das Gemüt einer herzlosen Welt, wie sie der Geist geistloser Zustände ist. Sie ist das Opium des Volks."

Meaning "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."

    But Marx was incorrect.

Religion is the last expression of community that the modern world has left to it.

Unless you're a protected minority, all expressions of community are interpreted as racism, sexism, ageism, classism, any kind of horrible exclusionary view.

Except for religion. One can stand and say "I'm a Buddhist" and he can find community with other Buddhists without being attacked. Various Christian sects can find community together. Zoroastrians, Animists, and all can find community without being attacked.

If this changes, the human race will fall.
In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'
