Would that happen to be referring to Fuhrer Bush Jr.?
Either way, our government sucks, will forever suck until the day that our political system is trashed by the growing number of malcontent and regularly crushed average citizens, and we reform the entire political system of the U.S. to meet the growing demands of the people.
Another thing. No child left behind is about as effective to keeping children educated as regulating the purchase and control of Knives is to keeping guns out of the hands of criminals.
It's pretending to solve the problem by creating an irrelevant sub-problem and pretending it's pertinent to the real problem. What good will pulling funding of schools that don't meet requirements do exactly? Put people out of work (Economic downside 1), ensure that the students enrolled there will get no further help and fall further behind (Educational, Crime Rate, and Economic downside 1, 1, 2 respectively), and destroy student's chances at moving forward with higher-education opportunities in the future (Economic, Educational, Crime Rate downside 3, 2, 2 respectively).
In total, that's three sets of economic downsides from one law, and two sets of crime related and education related downsides, and thus gives politicians exactly what they want.
1: They get their higher crime rates to squash with pseudo-education and more police officers having to put their lives on the line so they can pretend that their political machinations can fix the problem rather than only being able to provide short-term solutions for the increased crime rate.
2: They get their uneducated masses at faster rates. Even if a child abandoned and left behind by no child left behind DOESN'T turn to a life of petty theft and etc., they're still malleable pawns to the political machine as it is, and stuck in dead-end minimum-wage jobs paying their taxes while the big corporations that the politicians are in the pocket of get their $10 minimum tax for the rest of time and thus grants the politicians the most money in the least amount of time.
3: They get their unemployment rates up. That means that they'll have their uneducated masses relying on the few scraps they get thrown by the upper class and political powers, rather than on their own two feet and the sweat of their own brow. This ensures that the political ego-trip is forever bolstered by the "I give them $50 a week, that's all they need. Unless they're Latino, then give them a nice house, tons of free food, and enough money to take care of 3 families at once when they only have one kid, despite one or neither of the parents having a green-card or worker's visa.
Which brings me to my next semi-rant. Why do Latinos get preferential treatment by the American government, despite a lot of them not being legal citizens?
There is a 4 year waiting list for housing assistance in Oregon for White people. Latinos get a 2 year waiting list.
Whites have to fill out close to 15-20 pages of paperwork to get onto said waiting list. Latinos have half a page.
If America is too afraid to be considered racist against Latinos, why not just surrender our land and money to Mexico officially? I'm sure it'd be a lot less hassle than to pretend that illegals deserve to live in our country, steal our money, and commit crimes on our soil and get put in OUR prisons with free food, medical, etc. It's just plain wrong. If the constitution was meant to apply to everyone, then equalize everything putting citizens first, and illegals dead last. Heck, I don't care if you have to send them back twice then the third time they hop the fence just shoot them dead, just keep the illegals from ruining our country. That means Mexican illegals, Russian illegals, middle-eastern, Asian, British, Canadian, South American, whatever people seem to think they have a right to defy our law and invade our country without permission or clearance, we need them gone, or dead. It's not that hard to apply for at LEAST a green-card/worker's visa. If your economic situation in your home country is shoddy at best, tough luck, that doesn't give you the right to illegally invade another sovereign nation.
And of course the political machine seems to think that Marriage is the only way people should be able to have the rights of a united couple. Not so. We don't need your church's blessings, we just need the same exact rights as a heterosexual married couple. Then again, there are by and large many non-religious people who get "Married", so really it's a moot point.
And if Obama doesn't sign the Matthew Shepard bill into law when it reaches him like he promised, I will seriously throw a hissy-fit and damn him as the one president who can't do ANYTHING right. Really I could do that right now, but I'd sooner wait to say "I told you so" to all of his mindless supporters AFTER he screws over the LGBT community like that.
Gah, I HATE politics. Sometimes I just wish every political power in America would just disappear and make room for the average citizen to have a say for once.
Really, Americans are rapidly becoming too stupid to make this country into a true example of a citizen-run nation. We don't NEED representatives, we can represent ourselves now. The average American is no longer an illiterate farmer who can't even hold a gun right. We've moved on from when the constitution was written. Why not have our government reflect that?
