    The infected are attracted to shrill sounds (like pipe bombs, car alarms, etc.) and flashing lights (Crash Course generator, things like that)

    Crescendo Events are things that causes a horde of the Infected.

    It's been a long time coming.

    An unavoidable event that summons a large hoard of the infected.

    Things like the lift during No Mercy 3, the van in Dead Air 4.

    Car alarms and metal detectors do not count as they are avoidable.

    The spores rising from his body give away his position. That, and the sounds he makes can allow one to locate him with little trouble.
