It does indeed work, as the Gold Edition simply installs individual copies of both games. The "Gold Edition" is simply a bundle deal made to look like it has something extra. In fact it seems to have disappeared from Steam looking at the service now
The only issues you may have with the trainer are the usual "Super Infantry" and "Mega Clip" functionalities not working on some peoples games, everything else should work happily

As discussed elsewhere on the message board there is some problem with correcting this bug revolving around how easy it is to mod things with a trainer, or create a trainer for MoW, so i don't expect we will see things until the next stable patch for the game when CH updates it's trainers
In 1.02.22 the Trainer works perfectly for me, in 1.11.3 it's broken, in 1.16.4 MP (which isn't officially supported anyway) it's also broken, hopefully when they come to 1.16.4 FULL it will be updated and work again
