I can't seem to get past this part in the Favelas. I keep getting killed. What am I doing wrong. Do I need to go up to somewhere, And My partner that i'm supposed to follow keeps getting killed, and therefore I die right after he gets killed

You just have to protect him, and follow what the marker tells you. like protect, support, follow, etc....
It's been a long time coming.
