Hmmm...are you unchecking the whole Aspyr folder or only its sub folder? I have also patched to 1.1

I found the config folder, you were right about the location, but what about the "save game folder". Is it in My Documents? I unchecked the config folder and the Aspyr folder in My Documents and then tried to play right after, still got load save game error. Any thoughts?

yep the saved game folder is in My Documents/Aspyr. Make sure to make the Aspyr folder not read only

Could it be that the solution is the 1.1 update and not this unchecking thing? I haven't got the update yet (where'd you get it, if link-posting is allowed).

I don't know if the 1.1 patch is what let me uncheck the boxes because I didn't discover this until after I installed the patch. I spent the better part of last week contacting Aspyr technical support only to be told my processor was not up to spec and that was most likely the problem....eventhough the game ran albeit slowly. I just couldn't save any games. I noticed that both these folders where read only and I unchecked them. I started the game 4-5 times last night and I didn't lose my config settings or get the load failed error. If I go back and look at the properties of these folders again (after I uncheck the box and close) the read only will be checked again, so I uncheck it again and close. I don't know why it doesn't stay unchecked but I've had that happen before on other read only files. Also I realized thats why a copy of a saved game didn't work. The game would run up to the autocheck point save and then crash. I will do some more looking to see if I can find out why some read only files keep going back to read only after the box has been unchecked.

Currently downloading the update. I found out the following about the read-only thing: Every Folder in Windows XP is marked as read-only. It is standard and cannot be changed (that's why it is checked as read-only again). But the folders can be worked with by the user and programs (as long as these programs are allowed to).
So here is my theory: The crackfix by Reloaded did not have the right to wrok in those folders, so no new savefile could be created. With the 1.1 update there comes a new crack (by Vitality) which does have the Win XP rights to work with those folders.
As said, it is only a theory, I hope it works. Gonna tell you as soon as I've tried.

I have the same problem. Tried everything - from complete driver reinstall to defragmenting and scanning. Applied patched 1.1 and guess what? Nothing, still didnt work. Tried changing read only, didnt help either. And no, I dont have a crack, so it cant be caused by it. Deleting save and config files after making directory read only didnt work as well. I dont think aspyr has any clue about PCs, otherwise they could not say things like your CPU is not good enough to make a save game. And the read only thing - as someone already mentioned, all win folders ale marked this way, thats why win ignore this (on a basic level). If there was something that made your game go on without that error, it must have been something else. Just be happy you can play And as for the rest of us- maybe when the game comes to stores and more victims will buy it, someone may find out the cause for this and solve it out.
