@Deep_sea_diver - yes, that's exactly how you do it

@Ucrate - hmm, when you press the ~ your char should be stuck and you shouldn't be able to open the map window or character screen. You should double check the -enabledeveloperconsole and see if maybe you did a mistake typing it.

Okay, it's time I properly describe how to enable and bring up the developer console.

First, you'll have to make a shortcut to your desktop of "daorigins.exe" (Dragon Age/bin_ship/daorigins.exe)
Right-click the shortcut you created on the desktop, go to properties (or win7 users "shortcut" ) tab, and there is a line named "Target". that should look like this: "...\Dragon Age\bin_ship\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

    Now the fun part.
    In "my documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings\Keybindings.ini"
    Find the line:
OpenConsole_0=Keyboard::Button_X (X could be any button -you decide- that is not already used in the game)

Now you save the file, and start the game with the shortcut you edited on your desktop (daorigins.exe - shortcut).
In-game, you press the key that you have chosen (Keyboard::Button_X)
    and start typing runscript.
You should see letters and special characters appearing on the top of the screen. If not, then you've either done something wrong, or you just can not use the console the provided way. (there may be a more complex solution to enable the console)
    Hope this helped!

    See ya tomorrow...
