This game is a bad port from the console versions. Not much at all was done to tailor the game to the PC platform. You will find that the control system is shoddy at best, and hard to get used to. The dead give away with a lot of ports is that you can't navigate the menus with the mouse, rather relying on keyboard input (in place of the console controller). I wouldn't be suprised if many of these reported glitches/crashes/etc are due to the game itself, especially if users are using the latest fix.

Bad port is what i thought to then i decided to do a driver sweep, clean up all the vid drivers i overwrote with new ones and installed the very latest drivers on a clean slate and OMG Becky i went threw 3 expansion packs just like that no crashes what so ever.

Not saying its everyones problem but what would it hurt to give it a try.....

Good luck guys, im gonna get some rest and play it all over again awesome game i say.....

P.S. I found the controls and the use of the force with keys and mouse very easy my self but thats just me

I think, not sure system req, for this game is Vista or 7, i have Vista ultimate 64. I can imagine this game on xp it would not be the same on DX9, but thats just my thoughts...

As far as I am aware, DX only runs as a comunication port between game software and the hardware of your machine.

I've tried to run some games on a laptop that had Vista, and with games of the likes like Tom Clancy's HAWX and I see Zero difference other then the fact that the Vista machine is a Laptop instead of the XP desktop I normally use.

Anyways, I finished getting SW:TFU will run it as soon as I moved some data to an external drive.

There is a HUGE difference between Dx9, and Dx10. Even between Dx10 and Dx10.1. And Dx11 will blow everything out of the water.

DX9 is slower than DX10 processing the same rendered scenes on the same hardware. It also contains directions for processing certain types of visuals that aren't possible on Dx9 (thus why Crysis looked much different on Dx10 than Dx9. My short venture into Vista revealed my Dual GeForce 9800 GTX+'s could run all high settings in Dx10 about 12% faster than in Dx9, and I was running 32-bit at the time) along with allowing for more advanced physics processing, etc.

To put it in an analogy I think everyone can understand:

Dx9 is like a US Army Soldier: Kills all the enemies he's sent in to kill, he gets the job done.
Dx10 is like a US Marine Soldier: Kills all the same enemies, in less time, and they're 10% more dead.
I'm Neurodivergent, unless explicit, please don't assume the nature of my posts. Text tone is hard, probly didn't mean it that way.

I do not fully agree with the US Army and Marine comparison (its like comparing a roach to a beetle), I get the point.

Anyways, Windows XP, DX9, Only crashed once after a hour of game play.

I'm running it on WinXP 32 bit. I've played through the entire game, and I've had only one freeze (during the first level), and one CTD during the Cloud City level. Both were caused by game bugs. (This was on the patched 1.1 version)

I've found that using a wired 360 controller works better for this than mouse and keyboard.
