Perhaps your red faction client crashes due to lack of memory, since all games using large amounts of physics will chew up your memory faster than anything.

But then again I don't know your system information so It could be due to Windows LIVE.

Do see if your RAM is above at least 3 GB.

I have 8 GB of RAM in my computer and I used to play around with the physics sandbox game Phun. When I created to many things happening at once the game crashed and then instructed me too Insert more RAM. This was very strange considering this never happened to me on Farcry 2 nor Crysis, so you might want to check into it.

If you are running Windows Vista you might want to check if your vista theme reverted back to the basic theme, If you are using premium vista ofcourse or higher and running the aero theme and effects.

If this is the case then I would recommend adding more RAM or upgrading your ram if you aren't using DDR2/DDR3.

If you are running Windows XP then I'm not sure If I could help I haven't used an XP machine in over a year.
