Probably you need to install or update NVidia PhysX drivers...

I do not think he has an Nvidia Card or anything related to Nvidia , thought it might work

Set windows mode to true in the options->display, it fixes my freeze/crash problems. If not then try forcing Vsync off through your GPU control panel(Nividia/ATI).

Anyway I'm running the game smooth 35-50fps on a C2D E6750 2.66GHZ, Nividia 260GTX 896MB, 3 gig ram, xp home 32bit and at 1920x1080 native resolution. Only problem is it has to be in windows mode if not the freezes & crash wont go away, i also have to force Vsync ON.

So i think maybe this might work for you too..

i'm hearing that people with 8 series nVidia card have this freeze problem and the ones with 9 series card and above r not facing this freeze problem. my game installs properly..loads properly..at the start of the game..the 2 brothers on the hill..i can see and hear all sights and sounds...but i can't get the main character to move while the baldy brother is walking about. i presse WSAD and arrow keys...i can't get the guy to move.

NVidia PhysX drivers have nothing to do with the manufacturer of the card...It is needed in many games coming to date.

From what I've heard there are many hardware issues where the game doesn't fully support them properly yet (patches coming soon they say of course).

I've got an ATI HD 3870 dual-GPU under the hood (that's NOT bragging, there's MUCH better on the shelves already hehehe). And I know the ATI Catalyst version 9.9 causes very strange issues with things flashing & strobing until you change the Anti-aliasing up or down a notch & apply the changes. And have to do that up/down shift everytime you play the game again. Woof!

And I think the freezing when blowing something up might actually have to do with the sound buffer more than anything else. Hard drive isn't flashing a lot, video card fans not blazing like they do when massively calculating trajectories & vectors...and I've had other games where the sound buffers fill up and loop the sound until it's able to finish buffering/playing it. Think of it as the sound card coughing or clearing its throat. (Grin)

I'm going to try playing with my SoundBlaster X-Fi settings. If I don't report back that means changing the settings didn't help (and that we all just have to wait for a new game patch). But if I can solve it, I'll post the solution for everyone in the same logjammed boat. (Grin)
