The trainer unlocks all the figures & files............


but can you save them without always using the trainer (similar to street fighter 4 icons and titles)?

I haven't tried actually, cause I did it by myself.
But, if I had activated, for example, gold, ammo and so on, then why not.
The thing is if you are activating cheats and close the trainer, some cheats will remain, but some won't.
While I was playing the whole game with the trainer, I have found that it eventually crashes (sometimes, but very frustrating) to my desktop saying something about error in application.
Keep that in mind.
But, why don't you try to beat the game at the lowest difficulty firstly, you'll find all that you need pretty soon.

The unlocker here will not save your exchanged items until you have actually exchanged for them.
The unlock is temp. and will go away after you restart.
