    No, I mean...when we first see him...it looks like he's being controlled by the las plagas....but he wasn't. =|

    In game insider they asked a first q&a on weird things in re4, and they said the merchant was a normal ganado hew befreinded sera there for getting the parasite out. thats why he faloed sera and leon when they were taken. he aparently trys to show his grattitude by helping leon and cera in the quest, but at a small cost.
