I might Not be as good with words, but I think we are forgetting one thing. Lets say from this moment games can not be cracked, Will this increase the amount of games sold? Maybe, but not by a lot. Most pirates simply don't want or can't pay for the games. But what I'm sure of is that companies will lose a lot of future buyers, simply because lots of pirates actually buy games they pirate just to get the perks, like Online access, Posters, Figures etc.
Also lets say that I didn't play A game, do you think I'll buy a sequel for it without first buying the original? And with some games that means hundreds of dollars just to get the full experience. As I said before, lets pretend that games can not be pirated anymore. That would lead to the games become shorter and have more sequels (take Watchmen for example).

I think having "unpiratable" games is impossible. The piracy protection is only as good as the person who programmed it. There's always someone smarter out there so someone will crack it eventually.

Just make a game so horrible, that even crackers would refrain from pirating it...LOL

Life is best for those who enjoy it, difficult for those who analyze it and worst for those who criticize it.

That's a pretty good point actually.

I've seen a couple old games that are pretty much impossible to find cracks for.

I was trying to make a point that Companies don't "loose" any money because of the pirates, because they don't steal anything. Without pirates there would still be the same amount of sales. Also unlike pirating music, in order to keep up with the game industry (I'm talking about PC gaming) "gamers" have to upgrade their Pc pretty often, thus stimulating the hardware industry and allow them to make better hardware which is used to make more and better games . And so called "Pirates" are likely to upgrade their PCs more often simply because they have access to more games (I don't think that a lot of people able to buy all the games that came out this year alone). With the Xbox 360 it's a bit different. Even if the console is hacked, you still have to buy it (and the accessories) in order to play pirated games (which aren't actually cracked) .

Amd thats where you are wrong, you download a game and play it you have stolen the rights to play it as you did not pay for that right, which equates to loss of sales from the money you should have paid for.

Its not a hard concept to understand.

But over the years warez users will use and find any excuse to make their thefts look anything but.
